Categories Comments Great for these types of students The University of Arkansas is great for all types of students. Whether you want to be a sorority or fraternity member or you simply want to focus on academics, the University of Arkansas has a wide variety of students interested in what you are interested in.
Tips for prospective students The University of Arkansas is an amazing place to attend college. Beyond being a beautiful campus, this university has many ways to get involved inside and outside of the campus. From students organizations in specific fields to spiritual, athletic, and special interest clubs the University of Arkansas is the way to go. If you choose to attend this university be sure and get involved. Nothing can keep you more focused than having a support group of friends with the same interests as you.
Bang for the buck Although attending the University of Arkansas is extremely pricey, the money is well spent. I would not trade any amount of money for the experience I have had at the University of Arkansas. The price for a good education may be high, but its totally worth it at the University of Arkansas. I guarantee you will not regret spending the extra money to attend the University of Arkansas.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being at the University of Arkansas, so much so that I miss being there during the summer. There are all types of people and so many wonderful activities to get involved in, you will never get bored. From joining a sorority to study to groups to even workout groups, I found friends that will last me a lifetime while learning so much about myself and my field of study.
Am learning a lot I am an International Business student in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. Throughout my time at the University of Arkansas I have learned more than I ever imagined. My business classes were focused and interactive mixing a good time with learning. My professors were always interested in my concerns and helped me in every way possible.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The University of Arkansas is great for diverse and open-minded people. I honestly believe that any personality could thrive in this atmosphere.
Tips for prospective students My tip for prospective students would be to start everything early. I recommend applying for the University of Arkansas in September. It's not hard, and the admission staff is there to help every step of the way. Also, take advantage of the scholarship opportunities! The priority deadline for scholarship applications is early November. Making this deadline will give you the best chance at receiving one. When one is a junior and senior in high school, one needs to participate in as many things as possible. Involvement looks great on scholarship applications. When one actually begins the freshman semester, I strongly recommend getting involved in every opportunity that comes one's way. This is a great way to meet new people and learn new things. Most of all, enjoy you time at the University of Arkansas. It truly is a great environment.
Bang for the buck The University of Arkansas is not that bad on tuition, especially for in-state tuition. With FAFSA and the Arkansas Lottery scholarship, the cost of attendance almost seems like nothing. This was very appealing for me because I didn't even have to get a student loan. Also, the university has several scholarship opportunities.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love this university's pride and spirit for every aspect of college life. The football games are insanely crazy! So many fans pack the stadium on home games and root for the Razorbacks! The Pep-rallys for football games are a blast! They are held the night before home games in the Greek Theater. Thousands of students attend and go crazy to pump up their hogs. There is all ways something to do here. There is Hper building building which is the gym. It has everything you can think of for participating in sports and working-out. Intramural sports are always having tournaments for the students to stay active. I highly recommend any student at the U of A to check them out. Also, there are numerous registered student organizations for one to become apart. Going Greek is another opportunity for one to take advantage. I never realized how many Greek organizations there actually are.
Am learning a lot I knew college was going to be hard, and I was afraid I wouldn't learn very much because of this. I was terrified of being left behind in my classes. In reality, this is not how the University of Arkansas conducts their education. The professors here are extremely skilled in teaching students. They make difficult material well understood for students like me. Also, the university has tons of tutoring places at all times during the semester. All of the tutors are extremely knowledgeable and courteous. I don't feel nervous to get help from anyone. Gregson Hall has tutoring for almost every subject. This is very convenient for me because it is right across the road. There is a quality writing center and math labs for tutoring and test taking. All of these places are wonderfully staffed and comfortable. I actually surprise myself when I think about how much I am learning at the University of Arkansas.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The University of Arkansas is great for students who want to learn to appreciate diversity and who want to strive to succeed. From living in the International dorm (Holcombe) I have learned a lot about various cultures and made friends with many people from foreign countries. It has been one of the best experiences of my life. Also, my professors have pushed me and my peers to succeed and it has payed off, as me and my closest friends all have high GPA's.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you attend your classes. Simply attending your classes will probably raise your grade by two letter grades because you will know what's going on, when everything is due, and of course, you won't miss out on any crucial notes. Also, try to sit as close to the front in class as possible, as this will keep you alert and focused.
Bang for the buck The University of Arkansas is a very good deal price wise, especially if you will be paying in-state tuition. It's Business school and Architecture school are among the best in the nation, and if possible, you should apply for the Honors college. The University of Arkansas will look good on any resume for about half the price of many other big name schools.
Am enjoying being here There is never a dull moment at the University of Arkansas. From SEC football games, to big time concerts, and everything in between, there is never a lack of activity here. Social events are happening every day and you should never get bored here! The trick is maintaining your grades while having all this fun.
Am learning a lot Not only am I learning a lot in classes, I am learning a lot about people and about myself. Don't get me wrong, classes are keeping me busy, but the peer interaction is truly almost equally as important as academics. I am also learning how to balance my time between classes, friends, fitness, organizations, volunteering, and Church activities.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students From the high school stud searching for a physical upgrade, down to the class clown who needs a bit of reasonable motivation, the University of Arkansas is the place to be. In general, if you are a person who just wants to challenge your intellect and see how far you can push yourself then I extend this invitation to you. We here at the University of Arkansas are anxious and waiting for your arrival. We just ask that you leave all doubts and negative energy at home. Cause when you come to the University of Arkansas our goal is to fill your heads and hearts with a concrete feeling of Razorback pride and a huge surplus of self respect.
Tips for prospective students If you are searching for a place in which you find yourself repeating Dorthy's famous quote There's no place like home then the University of Arkansas is the place for you. It is truly a vicinity in which dreams can come true. I persuade, no I openly urge students who are wanting to attend a University in which: friendships are made in seconds, the teaching staff is available day and night (email) , and good times are around every corner to join us here at the University of Arkansas.
Bang for the buck Like many of the students I contact via recruiting I have come to find that money is the big topic of discussion. From In-State to Out-of-State, the price can be quite extreme. However, the University of Arkansas is a place like no other. They offer students with many types of financial aid. Some of the aid offered comes in the form of Chancellor scholarships, In-State and Out-of-State tuition, and various foreign and local scholarships. The University of Arkansas is truly dedicated to helping students overcome the woes of college expenses.
Am enjoying being here The University of Arkansas has become my home away form home. I enjoy going to class and learning new skills. Also, it seems like I meet new friends from different racial backgrounds everyday. I also have benefited from their work-study program offered at the University. I am one of the lucky few to have a job in the University's Admissions office. I have become a full fledged recruiter for students interested in coming to the University of Arkansas. I wear my Razorback logo with pride and a feeling of accomplishment.
Am learning a lot I am a Pre-med Biology major in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. I just finished my sophomore year at the University of Arkansas. Being a Biology major is not an easy task. There are lots of labs and loads of material to cover. However, I am lucky because my professors and advisers have my back 100%. Whenever I have a concern or an issue, they are there to aid me.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are emergency poles almost every forty feet on campus. These poles have a button on them that you can press that alerts an officer on campus. I've never used it, but they say an officer will be there within 5 minutes, no matter where you are on campus.
Greek Life There are plenty of sororities and fraternities to choose from. They seem like they always have events going on. They have some very intricate and unique sorority and fraternity houses alike.
Clubs and Activities There are literally hundreds of clubs on campus. If you need to meet some new people, this is the way to do it. There is even a Quittich club where the member literally play the game out on a soccer field on campus. Love it!
Great for these types of students This college is great if you like good music, open-minded people, chickens, or greek life.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Since it is the University of Arkansas, our mascot is the razorback pig. There is a fountain of a razorback drooling right near the admissions office. Our oldest building, also our most beautiful, is Old Main. We sing to her in our Alma Mater.
Bang for the buck The tuition price is not too steep (around $10,000 a year), and it is a very renowned school for what it is. The business school is ranked in the top 10 of the nation. There is a huge gym and elaborate bus system included in tuition. Those are definitely plusses!
What to do for fun Dickson Street is like our downtown in Fayetteville. It is where all the bars and clubs are. Concerts are happening almost every night around town. George's is the center for fantastic music. Fayetteville is a bicycle friendly community, so that's always fun.
Food and Dining The cafeterias are mediocre, like cafeterias in general. The selection of restaurants is really diverse, and you can find it very easily around campus.
Dorm Life There are some older dorms that can be pretty funky and cramped. There are also really nice dorms, but they cost a tad more. There's really no in-between.
Academic Rigor I don't have to study to hard, and I am a B average student.
Tips for prospective students Bring you walking shoes, because Fayetteville is very hilly and quite large. Also, don't forget to smile :)
In three sentences This university has a diverse, smart, and eclectic student body. The classes never fail to impress me, and neither does the sheer beauty of the campus.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students All types, especially students who love diversity. Even though it's Arkansas, there are several races and cultures among the university. Also, as said earlier, the business and architecture college are highly ranked among the nation. So, students with those majors will find the university a great investment. Even though our other colleges aren't ranked as high, I have many friends who enjoy the program. I'm a music major, and I LOVE the program here.
Tips for prospective students First of all, pleae attend class. You get a lot from in class experience than just coming to class when major assignments and tests are due. Also, like I said earlier, good grades come from good time management. Sometimes, you're going to have to make sacrifices in order to maintain a good grade. Most of all, have fun. They don't call it the college experince for nothing! You will find things about yourself that you never knew before. Meet new people, get out more, and get involved on campus.
Bang for the buck Handing over money isn't always easy. At first glance, the University of Arkansas might seem a tad expensive, but compare the rates to other great colleges like USC and University of Miami, the U of A is an excellent choice. Especially, considering the university's business and architecture school being top-ranked among the nation.
Am enjoying being here It may seem easy to say being an Arkansas native, but I love being a Razorback! That doesn't mean the Razorback experience is only limited to athletics. There are numerous student organizations, activities, and events going on on campus. It ranges from a visit from the Dalai Lama to musical performances by Snoop Dog and T.I. Your college experience becomes enhanced once getting involved on campus.
Am learning a lot I am a Music Education major, and although there are some classes on my core curriculum that I do not agree with, you do learn a lot from them and find out something about yourself or a different culture you might like. You also get an opportunity to meet different educators and styles of teaching. Of course, college is a challenge, but it's only as hard as you make it. The key to academic success is time management!

Categories Comments Campus Safety RazAlert contacts all students when there is inclement weather. There are also places throughout campus where you can call UAPD/Razorback patrol if you are out on campus and feel endangered. SAFE Ride is also always available to give students a ride at night back to their dorm if needed.
Greek Life If you're interested in Greek Life, the University of Arkansas has a huge selection of fraternities and sororities available.
Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs and activities. It is easy to find out about them through the different colleges, the UREC, the HPER, the University Newsletter, from bulletin boards in the dorms and Student Union, and even from chalk messages around the cafeterias.
Great for these types of students Outdoorsy, adventurous, and athletic students who would enjoy going to a school with a very unique mascot (There's only one Hog!) would love this university.
What to do for fun There is a mall and two movie theaters located within 10 miles of the University. There is also mini golf and a bowling alley. It is also fun to walk down Dickson St and visit the different coffee shops, bookstores, restaurants, and other stores located on the street. Within a few miles of Fayetteville there are places to go hiking, camping, and canoeing, or just enjoying the outdoors. The Crystal Bridges Art Museum is located in Bentonville which is about a 20 minute drive from Fayetteville.
Tips for prospective students Learn the bus system, it can be very helpful. Pay attention to where you park and when you need to move your car for athletic events, etc so as to avoid parking citations.
In three sentences Although it is undergoing construction, the university has a beautiful campus. There are a plenty of class choices and times to encompass most desired majors. The teachers are generally helpful and encourage you to do your best.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students for those who are looking into teaching as a career, the u of a offers a 5-year masters program. it also really focuses on business majors. if one wants to go to law school eventually, arkansas has a grad student law program. the campus also has a big greek life which results in many events and parties. it is also wonderful for students who like the outdoors, there are many places for camping and hiking near to campus. for those who enjoy long boarding, the town of fayetteville is your heaven.
Tips for prospective students take a tour of the campus during the fall, spring or summer, its gorgeous and the guide will really give you a feel of the place. once you become a student, free tutoring is offered everyday of the week. it is extremely useful for classes that aren't your strongest. a pass for athletics is around $75, which gets you into all sporting events.
Bang for the buck the u of a has a tuition waiver for the surrounding states, if high school students attain a 24 on their act, they get in-state tuition. it really makes a difference in attendance costs and makes the university a real option for students with low budgets. out of the schools i looked at, overall, it was the cheapest and prettiest.
Am enjoying being here I love it here, it is so hilly and beautiful. There are trees all over campus and multiple sculptures and fountains. Old main is a magnificent building in the center of campus that one can see from anywhere on campus. There are always at least three events to choose from on weekends. It is always an entertaining town to be in.
Academic Rigor i have learned so much through the classes i have taken here. i have never had a ta and only had one ga.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The senior walk on campus is one of the most outstanding traditions I've encountered at the University. Everybody who graduates will get their name engraved on the sidewalks on campus. It's a ton of fun for students to find friends and family members engraved on sidewalks all over campus. And you can't forget those moments calling the hogs!
What to do for fun The great thing about the University of Arkansas campus is that it's in the middle of town, so many things are within walking distance. Adding in the fact that Fayetteville is in the Ozark Mountains is wonderful if you enjoy any type of outdoor activity
Food and Dining Being in the hospitality program allows me to learn of the steps the University is taking to improve the dining on campus. After learning about certain dining expansions and additions that will be happening within the next year, I'm very excited to see how the campus will look in a couple of years.
Dorm Life I lived on campus for the first two years of my undergraduate career and loved every minute of it. I stayed in the same dorm building two years in a row (Yocum), and was blessed to meet many people that I still consider to be friends. The RDs and RAs are vigilant in keeping students active and excited about living on campus with all different kinds of activities, both on and off campus
Academic Rigor After trying out several different majors, I can honestly say that all the programs I have been in have been challenging and for the most part, enjoyable. I have been blessed to enjoy very many competent and excited professors in every degree plan I've been in: architecture, art, education, history, and hospitality management. Wherever you go, you will encounter professors who enjoy what they do and get you excited about learning while still making it a difficult, yet attainable class.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should understand that this university is a competitive one. Going to class, working hard, and participating in discussions are more important that many students realize when first arriving at the University. But the biggest tip I can give is to be in shape when moving to campus- it may only take ten minutes to get to your class, but this is one campus where you will be walking uphill both ways!
In three sentences The University of Arkansas is beautiful like no other campus I've encountered. Since first moving up to Fayetteville, I've been able to witness the leaps and bounds the University has taken to grow quickly with the quickly evolving world of technology. Being able to communicate with professors quickly online, doing completely anonymous reviews of the professors through a survey program, and using a google platform for the new email system are great improvements!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The UofA has their own police force who patrol regularly. The University also has an on campus program called safe-ride. Safe-ride offers rides to students after dark from parking lots, dorms, and dining halls.
Great for these types of students The University of Arkansas has a large number of exchange students as well as out of state students. Many classes will vary from large, 300 person lectures, to small, 30 person classes. People from small towns and high schools, as well as from large towns and high schools, will find it easy to adjust with the variety of class sizes.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus If you know anything about Arkansas, we are crazy about our Razorbacks! The student sections at all sporting events always hum with excitement and energy. Students actually camp out for football games. For those more interested in academic traditions, the University has a senior walk in which each year's graduates get their names engraved on the sidewalk.
Bang for the buck Tons of businesses and restaurants in Fayetteville offer student discounts and specials. There are several bookstores around town that sell new and used books. At the end of the semester, these stores will buy the books back from students. There are even stores that rent books. There are also several thrift stores that will buy clothes for students needing a little extra money.
What to do for fun While being involved on campus is fun, there are several things to do off campus. There is a bowling alley, put put golfing, laser tag courses, and parks. The city of Fayetteville has bike trails that run through it as well as gorgeous lakes and camp sites like Devil's Den. For those wanting a late night scene, Dickson Street is located right off campus and has several bars and clubs, some of which have live music.
Food and Dining There are many dining halls on campus. Even for students not living on campus, there are meal plans available. Aside from dining halls, there are a variety of restaurants on campus ranging from Starbucks to Chick Fil A to a fancy bed and breakfast. Surrounding campus are hundreds of fast food places and sit down restaurants. Right off of campus is Dickson St., which is made up of bars and restaurants that offer students specials and discount nights.
Dorm Life Dorm life is definitely what you make of it. The UofA has one all girls' dorm and the rest are co-ed. Each dorm has their own special qualities and fun activities. If you leave your door open and go to dorm functions, you will meet many people on your floor who can become your best friends or study buddies.
Academic Rigor The University of Arkansas curriculum is moderately rigorous. Students who attend classes, study regularly and take good notes should do well. For students who want a harder course of study, they offer an excellent honors program.
Tips for prospective students Whether or not you live on campus or commute daily, utilize the transit system. The campus is set on a hill and it can be a work out getting around. The transit system operates on a tight schedule and is very handy. Though bigger lecture classes may not take attendance, go to class. Nothing will maintain a good GPA like high attendance. Also, the University of Arkansas offers free on campus tutoring. Take advantage of this! The University wants you to succeed and has many resources to help their students do so.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas strives to make your college experience unique by recognizing individual students instead of losing them in the crowd. Set on a beautiful campus, the University of Arkansas offers an extensive variety of student groups, intramural sports, and on campus tutoring. The UofA is a campus with fun traditions, qualified professors, and is a great place to call home.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are so many things available to do on and off campus. If you're in to hiking or camping or anything like that there are plenty of places to do that in Arkansas or Oklahoma which isn't that far away from Fayetteville. In the city itself there are festivals throughout the year and a ton of restaurants. On campus there is usually some kind of game to go to and parties that happen at least once a week.
Food and Dining The cafeteria's on campus are pretty good. If you don't learn self-control quickly though you'll gain a lot of weight. There is pizza and every other junk food possible available all day but there is also salad and healthier options. So don't go crazy on the junk food.
Dorm Life The most important thing about dorm life is becoming friends with your roommate. Your going to be living with them for a year and you don't want it to be awkward every time your in the room. Keep your dorm semi-clean because they're not that big especially with two people living in them, it'll feel crowded.
Academic Rigor When it comes to class do not skip it just for fun, it may be tempting but it's not worth lowering your grade for it. Do everything possible to keep your grades up as high as possible because you never know when your going to have an off day. Study way before the night before the test even if it means skipping a party you wanted to go to. Don't think you can just bring your grade up later in the semester because it's nearly impossible and incredibly hard.
Tips for prospective students Do not slack off on any classes at any point because a low grade is not as easily brought up as it was in high school it makes it twice as hard as it would have been if it had just been kept up to begin with. Never skip class unless you absolutely have to professor's love to give surprise attendance checks for a grade. Enjoy the experience and make friends because if you don't even try to enjoy it and meet people it's going to get very lonely and you're probably not going to have any fun while attending school.
In three sentences The University is a fantastic school to attend and provides more than enough activities to get involved in to connect to other students. Every professor that I have encountered have been very nice and excited to do anything they can to help. The opportunity's offered there are limitless and provide a once in a lifetime experience.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Fayetteville has endless options as far as leisure activities, events, etc. Dickson Street is where most people go because it's so close to campus (especially if they're 21 because it's a lot of bars). But there are also shops, coffeehouses, restaurants, bookstores, bakeries, and various other places along Dickson and around the town square. Fayetteville is known for its Farmer's Market, which is held in the town square on the weekends. There is a great mall, two movie theaters, a bowling alley, miniature golf, and lots of frozen yogurt places and restaurants. It's also a great place for biking, camping, hiking, fishing, etc. because of Lake Fayetteville, Mount Sequoyah, and other well-known camping spots. As far as campus events go, there is ALWAYS something going on, basically every single day, and Razorback athletics are amazing so everyone loves going to football games, baseball games, etc. To sum it up, you will NOT be bored.
Food and Dining Eating at the dining halls on campus can get pretty old after a while, but when you go home and realize how convenient it is to have your food made and ready to go at all times, you may reconsider. There are three dining halls on campus and various other restaurants that you can go to and even do meals trades for. The meal trades are great because they stay open until 11:00 and it gives you a way to switch things up and not go to a dining hall every single night. Overall, I do think the dining halls have pretty good quality food. I have eaten on other college campuses and I have to say that the U of A is probably the best in comparison. Lots of options for anyone, including vegetarians, those with food allergies, etc. You can even special request certain things from the chefs and they will make them for you (usually vegetarian). The restaurants on campus include Quiznos, Starbucks, Burger King, Chik-fil-a, Sub Generation, the Wok, a burrito bar, and a pasta place. Overall, good food but definitely not a bang for your buck. Meal plans are great, but pretty pricey!
Dorm Life Dorm life at the U of A varies GREATLY, so it's important to decide what you're looking for before picking your dorm. Maple Hill and the NW Quads are the nicest and priciest dorms on campus, but I've never known anyone to enjoy staying there. They aren't social at all, and while it may be nice to be basically living in a hotel-like atmosphere, it's not what most people are looking for their freshman year. As far as the more affordable, traditional dorm-style residence halls go, most people seem to really enjoy staying on campus. It's still pretty pricey in comparison to an apartment, but you can't beat walking down your halls and seeing your best friends everyday. Granted, you're NOT going to be friends with everyone you meet in the dorm but there are so many other people staying there that you will make a lot of new friends and always have someone to do something with at basically anytime.
Academic Rigor I just finished my freshman year and while I found some parts of it to be very challenging, I fully believe that the difficulty of your academics depends on your major, whether or not you are in the honors program, and your specific professor. Students in the engineering and architecture programs are always studying/busy with school, and everyone knows that those are two of the most difficult majors. The difference between honors and regular courses is very obvious, after taking both and comparing the workload. The fact is, your honors courses' teachers just expect more from you and if you want the grade, you're going to have to work much harder for it. It's also important when picking your classes to pay attention to what professors you're getting. Ratemyprofessor.com is very helpful in determining who would be a good pick or bad pick. Sometimes two people take the same class, but depending on the professor, one of them may be doing MUCH more work/studying. Keep that in mind when registering for classes.
Tips for prospective students If you don't intend to be engaged in Greek Life, then at least be prepared and aware of the fact that fraternities and sororities are huge at the U of A, and the majority of people that you meet will probably in one. It's not necessarily a good or bad thing, but it's something to consider if you are looking for a way to get involved right away.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas has exactly what everyone should want from their college experience. It offers a quality education, a lively and beautiful atmosphere, and endless opportunities to get involved, meet new people, and make memories that will last a lifetime. Regardless of who you are or where you come from, there is certainly something for everyone at the U of A.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Always lock your vehicle.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus If you are going to be a teacher or work in a daycare go to the STEM center for math and science education. They provide curriculums, fun activities that you can do with your students, dye cuts, books, articles, almost anything you need. It is for you but no one ever tells you about it.
What to do for fun Party it up when you can. In fayetteville you will find alot of parties to go to. I personally play video games but in the middle of the semester that all goes away. I love Kings River Falls, which is like 2 hours away. You hike for about a mile to the water.
Food and Dining The U of A has alot of different fast foods and places to eat. They are also located next to Dickson which is in walking distance that has alot of different places to eat. Jimmy Johns is cheap and amazing. I use to work there and still can say that plus they deliver to your dorms.
Dorm Life I do not live in dorms but I suggest that you do.
Academic Rigor Classes are hard but they pretain to your degree and the feild work of your degree. They will be testing you over bigger concepts than what you are use to in high school classes. Find friends and study.
Tips for prospective students Try to live on campus. I spend 10 dollars a day to get there plus parking fees. Enjoy your major because you will be reading alot of material for each class.
In three sentences It is hard if you have to work and go to school. Teachers are great teachers but they believe that all students live on campus and don't work. Study everyday or you will fall behind because everything comes due at once.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There is a lot to do in Fayetteville. Between the sporting events, hiking and camping at Devil's Den State Park, and all the neat shops, Fayetteville literally has it all.
Food and Dining The food and dining on campus is good. They have a wide variety of options so you can have something new everyday.
Dorm Life I would put it up against any university. It gives new students the chance to meet and interact with new people and establish good friendships.
Academic Rigor I would say that the deeper you get into your major, it gets significantly tougher. But that goes with any school. The University of Arkansas challenges students but gives them the tools to succeed in academics.
Tips for prospective students 1. Although it sounds repetitive, it is the God's honest truth. Do not procrastinate. 2. Meet new people and network because sometimes it is about who you know. 3. Join Clubs or Organizations 4. Have fun because for most it only lasts four years.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas has provided me with the tools for success. I have learned how to become a better leader and student. I have also established many relationships that will continue throughout the rest of my life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The UAPD presides of the entire campus 24 hours a day. Blue emergency poles are interspersed throughout the university, ensuring safety at the touch of a button. Defense classes are taught by the PD for security against rape and molestation. Safe ride is another tool available to students. It picks people up who are drunk and can't drive home, who are stranded without a car, and whom are too scared walk home at night.
Great for these types of students The University of Arkansas is great for any type of student. There truly is something for everyone. Whether it be sports, Greek life, music, dancing, art, or just academia, this college is ready for you. And if you can't find what you want, you can make it. With a petition and 5 signatures, you can go to the student government and make a club or sport.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Lot 56 on campus is also known as the pit. No one really knows why this is, but the lot does curve into a bowl-like shape. At the University of Arkansas, we have our own football tradition. We call the hogs. It consists of us raising our arms while having spirit fingers saying, woooo, then fisting forward saying pig sooie. We do this three times and at the end of the last one we say, razorbacks, fisting again.
What to do for fun At the University of Arkansas, there is always something to do for fun. Whether it be a dorm event, a fraternity party, or a tailgate, you can always have fun. During football season Saturdays are always busy, and during the week, when you're not studying you can go to the Hyper, an all inclusive gym and fitness center. It includes a pool and rock wall, as well as fitness classes. Many sporting events are available to you in both fall and spring. Of course if you want to go off campus, Dickson Street is right by the university, providing food, music, books, and shopping.
Food and Dining The campus supports Chartwells dining. There are 3 main cafeterias as well as a student union with numerous restaurant choices. Also interspersed throughout campus are other small coffee shops, smoothie places, as well as more restaurants.
Dorm Life Dorm life at the university is very involved. RA's and a student government in the dorms make student's voices heard. Almost all of the dorms support 2 people rooms and a community bathroom. There are always free laundry rooms and recycling bins. Events and activities are posted throughout the halls and are always open for students.
Academic Rigor The University of Arkansas puts much of their budget and funding into academics. The campus is constantly under construction to expand the colleges and build more building for academia. The classes are fairly small and honors courses are provided for even more one-on-one interaction. Also, much of their financial aid is based on academics, rather than anything else.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to visit the university numerous times before starting your schooling. The campus can be slightly confusing if you don't where you're going. However after a few times around, you'll quickly find your way. Don't be afraid to get out there and make friends; take advantage of the before school activities and events. Not only are they fun, it helps you meet new people. Finally, make time to study during the day. You don't want to waste your evenings studying for 5 hours; break it up, and be happier.
In three sentences My visits and experiences with the University of Arkansas have been quite positive; the staff and teachers are helpful, and classes are fairly small. The student life has something for everyone; over a hundred clubs and sports make sure no one is left out. With the exception of all of the hills, the landscaping and general atmosphere of the university are beautiful and upbeat.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students rural, outdoors enthusiasts, southern, engineers, business majors, and architects
Tips for prospective students Definitely visit and make sure that it is the right place for you. Arkansas will not fit everyone it definitely has a large outdoors emphasis simply because of the activities available in the state. It is in the south and definitely shows signs of southern culture which is not the right fit for everyone.
Bang for the buck Arkansas offers many scholarship opportunities if you are willing to work for them. They offer in state tuition reduction for students who score well enough on their ACT/SAT which helps make it an affordable option even for out of state students. Scholarships and financial aid also continue to be available for current students who can keep a decent GPA and again are willing to work.
Am enjoying being here Greek life is very big on campus especially for girls so if you are not into sorority life it is hard to find your pace at first, but for the most part the people are very welcoming and it is easy to get involved in activities that interest you and meet people in your classes and dorms.
Am learning a lot The University of Arkansas has great teachers that are interested in your education. The class sizes are relatively small, especially in the honors college. My largest freshman lecture class had 350 students as opposed to over 1000. The teachers have great office hours and are flexible. There is a very broad range of degrees and topics to be studied.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone interested in a diverse and exciting social environment combined with a strong work ethic and desire to succeed will fit in perfectly at the U of A. I'd recommend it to anyone willing to pay extra for a fulfilling experience.
Tips for prospective students GET YOUR FUNDS IN AHEAD OF TIME. I can't stress how important being able to provide for your future is. Apply for scholarships, get the GPA at minimum to a 3.0, etc. The only two things really necessary to succeed once you're in college are 1) Go to class and 2)Do the work! This is true of all colleges, but particularly the U of A.
Bang for the buck The only real problem with the University is the price. A 4,000 average price tag per semester is nothing to be taken lightly, especially in economic decline; however, if through scholarships, grants, and loans, you are able to attend, depending on how involved a student gets, it can be worth every cent.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy the different things there are to do on and off campus, including the many activities on campus such as Friday Night Live, random movie showings in the Union Theater, and the countless plays provided by the theater department. There's always something going on.
Am learning a lot All of the professors I've had in the three different fields I've been attempting have been incredibly helpful. They actually have a passion for their field of study and know what they're passing on to us.

Will learn a lot The Honors Program at UA is phenomenal. They provide extraordinary opportunities for undergraduate research and overseas studies. All of it is well-funded via grants, fellowships, and scholarships. This is an outstanding place to be an Honors Student.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students It's great for all types of students. The University of Arkansas has an honor program for students who want to be challenged. Also, it is a culturally diverse school. There are programs like Global Greeks, which allows international students get involved in the Greek community. The Enhanced Learning Center is a great resource for students who have learning disabilities. They provide services like note taking, extended time on tests, and audio text books.
Tips for prospective students Treat college like a typical work day. Go to class and spend the rest of your free time from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. studying. It makes hanging out with friends more enjoyable when you don't have to worry about school. Plus, professors notice if you attend class regularly despite the common misconception. They are more apt to raise your grade if you are border line if they see you are making an effort. Also, Make sure to choose class times that suit your habits, but be willing to make sacrifices in your schedule in order to have the better professors.
Bang for the buck Compared to colleges across the nation, the University of Arkansas is a great deal for the quality of education that you receive. Its business school is ranked higher than many other colleges that are more expensive. Also, there are many scholarships available. If you are from out of state and have a relative who is an alumni, there is the Legacy scholarship that gives you instate tuition.
Am enjoying being here Razorback football is one of the most exciting parts of going to the University of Arkansas. There's nothing like calling Woo Pig Sooie with thousands of other screaming fans in the Donald W. Reynolds Stadium. Everyone dresses up in their finest hog attire, tailgates with friends and family, and cheers down Stadium Drive after the game despite whether they win or lose. Greek Life at the University of Arkansas is another big aspect of college and definitely worth trying. It is a great way to make friends. Also, it gives you the opportunity to get involved on your campus and in your community. It’s a good way to give your mind a break from school, yet be proactive with your close friends.
Am learning a lot The classes are challenging, yet doable. The professors have designated office hours to help you learn any difficult information outside of the classroom. You learn the majority of the information in class, so it is important to take notes. The best way to retain the information is to go over the previous lecture before class starts to refresh your memory. Also, there are ways to learn about your major outside of the classroom. The university has groups on campus that are concentrated toward different majors. These groups have career workshops and take trips to companies and firms. By being involved in these groups, you learn vital information about the job market, the application process, and possible careers.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for student who work hard and want to accomplish many things in life. University of Arkansas offers many great opportunities to their students to achieve their goals acedemically or not. It is also good for student who do not want to go to a huge school or a tiny school. This unv=iversity is just the right size for a college.
Tips for prospective students My advice to you would be to try many different classes because you go into college sure you are going to pursue one degree, then you take a random class and you could love it som much that you switch majors. That is what happened to me.
Bang for the buck This school is worth every penney I have paid. If I had to do it all over again, I would not hesitate to choose University of Arkansas as my college.
Am enjoying being here I have made so many friends so far and have joined many Student Run Organizations. There is always something to do on campus or off and Fayeteville is such a college kid town.
Am learning a lot I am loving all of my teachers. I have learned so much from them not just on an educational level but also personally. My Business law professor has been the most influential teacher this semester. It is because of his class that I am pursuing my dream of becoming a lawyer.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I don't actually know a lot about this aspect of campus life. I do feel that the school could provide more lighting at night. There are, however, posts around the school where if you are ever in need of anything, you can press a button and contact someone in a matter of minutes.
Greek Life When I took my first tour of the school, the tourguide told my group that about 25% of the students participate in Greek life.
Clubs and Activities As mentioned earlier, there are tons of activities. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities as well.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who want the full college experience. Also, and more importantly, this school is for students who want a great education.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The new addition of the Quidditch team is rather unusual. It is based off of the game Quidditch featured in the Harry Potter novels. It caters to hardcore fans of the series.
Bang for the buck U of A turned out to be everything I hoped it would be. It is the perfect school for any new college student. When I talk to some friends who attend other colleges, they often tell me that their schools don't offer some of the things U of A does. Some of my friends have even decided to transfer to U of A for that very reason.
What to do for fun There are all kinds of activities both on-campus and off-campus. There are political organizations, sports organizations, academic programs, and so much more. There are plenty of sororities and fraternities. Some clubs host school-wide parties, which include games, movies, and free food.
Food and Dining There are plenty of places to eat on-campus. There are many small fast-food eateries. After five o'clock, most of the food places can be payed for with your meal-plan, which is much more convenient for students. There are also several different cafeterias which serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Dorm Life You get what you pay for. The Maple Hill dorms are the best of the best. The dorm I stayed in, Buchanan-Droke, is probably the shabbiest. Yet I think I had more fun in my dorm than if I would have stayed anywhere else. There is ample opportunity to bond with new people who are going through the same things you are. The RAs are wonderful and the staff is very accommodating.
Academic Rigor Obviously, some classes are harder than others. But as long as you apply yourself, you'll do well in any class, regardless of how hard it may seem. Some classes are rigorous and challenging and provide students with an opportunity to really learn the material they are being taught.
Tips for prospective students You might want to map out your schedule before the first day of classes. It's a big campus, so you're bound to get lost. Also, take advantage of all of the on-campus activities.
In three sentences This is a wonderful school, consisting of top-notch professors, a variety of activities, and a beautiful campus. All of the professors I've had thus far genuinely care about the future of their students. Also, students are provided with many different opportunities, ranging anywhere from joining the Quidditch team to Study Abroad.

Categories Comments What to do for fun there are a lot of things to do in the northwest arkansas area. since rogers and bentonville and fort smith are not too far away, it gives the students options on where to go for some fun things to do. the university provides some fun activities not only for freshman but for the upperclassmen too.
Food and Dining the food here is not really that bad. there are a few places where the food is not very good, but for the majority, the food is good. the eating facilities are really good around campus.
Dorm Life the dorms here are pretty nice. the northwest quads and the maple dorms are perfect places to live if you like nicer dorm rooms. the only disadvantage of living in those dorms is that people that live there are, 1. typically upperclassmen 2. a little less social. but the other dorms like the all boys dorm and the all girls dorm are for people who want to meet new people and make friends.
Academic Rigor so far here at the university, i have had some rigorous classes. the typical freshman classes are there basically to weed out the weak students who did not want to go to the school to fully learn. the work is not too hard, but it will challenge you.
Tips for prospective students for any students that plan to go to the university, i advise them to go to rate my teacher. com and look at the reviews on your professors. this is beneficial to you because you can see what other students are saying about the teachers and can give you a better feeling when enrolling in classes
In three sentences i have thoroughly enjoyed my experience here at the university of arkansas. i have met a diverse group of people and have learned a lot over the past 6 months. overall it is a great school and i would advise anyone to come to this school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the university has a system that will contact you if schools is closing or if there is any type of serious incident. they also drive drunk people home for free.
Greek Life say what you will about sororities and fraternities, but it's always nice having friends who know how to throw a party.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus part of the walkway in front of the old main building is supposedly haunted. here at the university of arkansas, the names of students and the years in which they graduated are literally etched into the campus sidewalks. apparently, all the students who graduated in 1842 died soon after leaving college. for this reason, it is considered bad luck to walk over the part of the sidewalk where their names are inscribed.
Bang for the buck i wouldn't know because i haven't graduated yet. it's always helpful having the knowledge necessary to make a living out of your passion. you may discover that what you really want to do doesn't require a formalized education. ultimately, campus's like the university of arkansas are not only for learning, they are for having fun and staying connected to society.
What to do for fun until you turn 21, expect to have fun outside the boundaries of societies laws (unless you and your friends truly enjoy board games). once you are old enough and know how it feels to live independently, treat yourself to the finer things in life (like bars and cheap thrills). most likely though, you will have your own definition of what is fun to do.
Food and Dining if you are living off your parents money, get a meal plan. if you have a steady job, try to start buying groceries for yourself (even if you can't afford that much). food prices are going up across the country. that is why you must discipline yourself if you want money for food.
Dorm Life you will most likely either love or hate your first year roommate. people's personalities are indeed different and you will learn soon after arriving at college that you must search for the good in people if you are going to survive dorm life.
Academic Rigor like most classes, focus on homework and review dates. powerpoints are helpful, but they are not as reliable as good old fashioned note taking. writing down information word for word is not always necessary to end a course with a good grade.
Tips for prospective students be prepared to ride the bus if you don't feel like paying for parking. always ask if there is a review guide for your class exams. try renting your textbooks online instead of paying full price at a campus store. open yourself up to new experiences since you will meet many diverse people.
In three sentences the campus itself is nice and well manicured. the teachers are for the most part very helpful. the university provides a free for all public transit system which i think is very accommodating.

Categories Comments Campus Safety campus is fairly safe. i do not recall any horrible incidents so far this ear.
Greek Life i am not in any form of greek organization but i have lived on campus right behind the frat houses. it's what anyone would expect.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the senior walk! when you graduate, your name will be on a sidewalk forever.
Bang for the buck it is worth it if you have high goals and expectations. there are scholarships from the school available for the students.
What to do for fun there is always something to do on campus. since u of a-fayetteville is home of the razorbacks, one can go to a home sporting event. there are organizations ranging from greek to non-greek to academic interest to religious views or even just personal interests like larping. some people love going to the hper to work out. there's intramural sports, rock climbing. for those who seek adventure there
Food and Dining food is food. there is a variety each and everyday as well as the regulars on the menu. there are plenty of dining halls on each side of campus. also, there is a starbucks, papa johns, subway and quiznos on campus. if you do not want a full meal there are convenient stores, club red, and a mini walmart. of course with the school's location, there food places not far from campus. last, there is late night which takes place in the arkansas union that includes the popular chick-fil-a, a burger king as well as stir fry, pizza, a sandwhich, wrap, and soup place, with options of sides. late night is good for those who have night classes.
Dorm Life dorm life can be awesome. the dorms with more history to them are more social than any others. there are more people to interact with and most dorms have events held there. despite the location of some, i feel that dorm life is better than living alone and you do not have to worry about keeping up with payments for a house or apartment.
Academic Rigor the rigor of the college differs on the major in a way. some departments expect more from the students pursuing a certain major. of course as the year progress, one will soon realize that just getting by will effect the chances of employment in the future.
Tips for prospective students don't be so intimidated. sure it's a big step from high school but stay positive. it's not the end of the world if your expectations aren't always fulfilled right away. stay focused. commit. go to class and keep your priorities in order.
In three sentences the university of arkansas is a great campus overall. it is a school that takes pride in positive recognition of accomplishments of the students. also, it is a very chill and friendly atmosphere.

Categories Comments Campus Safety although the campus is big, there is no reason to ever feel unsafe at the university. campus security is top notch and they provide many amenities to ensure the safety of all. for example, if you have a late class or if it's dark outside, you can call for an escort to walk you to your class/dorm. it's great!
Greek Life greek life is a big part of the university. this year i did not rush but it's definitely a decision i regret. i've met so many amazing greeks this year that i can't help but wish i was a part of the community. i am very excited to rush this fall!
Clubs and Activities there are hundreds if not thousands of clubs and activities to join on campus. no matter your interests, you'll be sure to find a club full of people who share your interests
Great for these types of students the u of a provides something for everyone! if you desire a great college experience, one you'll remember forever, then the u of a is the place for you!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus my favorite unusual tradition at the u of a is senior walk. upon graduating, your name will be engraved onto senior walk forver. current students can go back to the first graduating class of the u of a and still see the names of the graduating class. i think it's great that your name will be part of the university forver!
Bang for the buck at the u of a, you'll definitely get what you paid for. asside from getting an amazing education, you'll become part of a family and be given memories you'll cherish your whole life!
What to do for fun there's lots to do for fun in fayetteville. there are many activities that the u of a provides students to get them to mingle and be introduced to fellow students. athletics and pep rallies are great to give you razorback pride, and there is also lots to explore around fayetteville!
Food and Dining dining at the u of a is very good! the campus definitely switches it up all the time and you have several options on where to eat on campus but no matter where, just know you'll have a great meal!
Dorm Life dorm life at the u of a is great! ra's and fellow floormates are great and clean and safe and you'll have a lot of fun!
Academic Rigor academic wise, you'll definitely be challenged by both your professors and peers in a way that will prepare you for your career
Tips for prospective students if you're considering applying to the u of a, do it! it's a beautiful campus and you'll meet amazing people. the u of a will provide you with a great experience you'll cherish forever.
In three sentences the u of a is an incredible campus to attend. the university provides students with great staff and an overall experience. there's something for everyone and you truly become a part of the razorback family.

Categories Comments Campus Safety there are two different university of arkansas police stations on campus that patrol campus. also the university of arkansas has a safe ride program that gives students the option to call safe ride and they will pick them up from anywhere.
Greek Life university of arkansas has many greek groups. there are typical greek sororities and fraternities as well as professional fraternities/sororities and service fraternities/sororities.
Clubs and Activities at the university of arkansas, there are over 250 registered student organizations. also, if you can't find one to fit your needs, you can create your own group with an advisor.
Great for these types of students there are many opportunities for any student on campus. whether career minded, academic minded, or socially minded; there is something to fit everyone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus call those hogs. this tradition began after the university of arkansas changed mascots from the cardinal to the razorbacks. now at every event, or even randomly around campus you'll hear people calling those hogs. wooooo pig soooie
Bang for the buck great education for a great price. definitely a good deal for the education that you leave with
What to do for fun i love going to the movies and going out to dinner with my friends. also i really love all the sporting events, it's a great way to get involved with students and the school.
Food and Dining there are 3 main dining halls on campus, and they are generally pretty good. like any campus or cafeteria food, it all starts to taste the same. but then there is late night meal trade options that allow you to go to different spots on campus and use your meal plan for dinner. this is a great switch from the day to day cafeteria food. also there are different 'convenient store' type places on campus where you can get snacks.
Dorm Life for freshman, the dorms are wonderful. there are a lot of different options all over campus and each dorm offers something different. from proximity to classes, to the general set up of the dorm; everyone can find a setup that fits them.
Academic Rigor depending on the major, academics can take up all of your time (such as architecture) or you can have a pretty open social life with time to work and join organizations.
Tips for prospective students definitely talk to your professors when you begin class, they will be much more likely to help. most importantly, go to class; i know high school was boring, but classes get hard fast.
In three sentences i love the university of arkansas. it offers ways to get involved in every thing here: athletics, volunteering, registered organizations, and more. academics are extremely important too.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safety here is really good. You can always spot an officer on campus, this makes one feel safe of course. Because of this, there is rarely a problem when the police is needed.
Greek Life Greek life is big here just like any other university. There are more women here that join sororities, more than men. One thing is for sure is that if you get into the greek life you will not regret it.
Clubs and Activities They have a wide range of clubs and activities. Sports clubs, to simple interest clubs like architect. The activities here are endless, either on campus or off. There are many outdoors activities that they offer here.
Great for these types of students This place is great for anyone looking for a small campus, yet feels like a big university. But I still think this university is a great fit for anyone. The city here growing which is always a good thing.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We sidewalks with imprinted names of everyone who has graduated from the U of A. The names date back to the early 1900's.
Bang for the buck Overall the school is relatively cheap compared to other universities. In my opinion I would have thought it would be more expensive.
What to do for fun There are many things that the university offers to keep you busy. From recreational sports, intramurals, and club sports. Then there are clubs that range from cultural clubs to special interest and future careers like business.
Food and Dining Food and dining here is amazing. At the union they have a variety of things to offer. Theres also an einsteins bagel, starbucks, papa johns, and even chick fil a here.
Dorm Life Dorm life here is great. Each dorm has its special feel to it. The most popular dorms here are the quads and humphreys. The quads are newer, nicer, and pricey. Humphreys is a little older, but they tend to be picked over the quads.
Academic Rigor I have always felt that it just depends on the person and what degree you are shooting for. For me the school work is about average, I mean it is college and you can't just breeze through it.
Tips for prospective students The U of A is a relative small campus but with everything it offers, it gives it a big campus vibe.
In three sentences This school offers everything you are looking for in a college. The school is filled with school spirit and has its own little special touch to it. The U of A is filled with opportunities you can't get anywhere else.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I haven't heard of anything bad happening on campus. There are two police stations located on campus and there are emergency phones all around the campus.
Greek Life I am not apart of Greek life, but I know that it is a large part of this university. I know people who are in it and love it. Even though it is a huge part of the campus, that doesn't mean that you need to be apart of it to have a good experience.
Clubs and Activities There are so many different clubs and activities that you can do/join here at the U of A.
Great for these types of students Any type of student really!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Wooooo Pig Sooie! Calling those Hogs!
Bang for the buck It can be pricey if you don't have instate tuition.
What to do for fun I help out with Razorvision Academy since I am a broadcast student. I also just like to go out to eat or to a movie with my friends. There is so much more stuff to do here though, especially if you like to be outside!
Food and Dining The cafeteria cookies are the reason that there is the Freshmen 15. Sooooo good! I also really like that there is such a variety of foods.
Dorm Life Make sure that once you are accepted you sign up to pick your dorms quickly! You want to be able to pick the one that suits you best.
Academic Rigor It all just really depends on your major, what classes you have to take and your teacher. Every campus is going to have some really hard professors and some really easy professors.
Tips for prospective students Look for scholarships now! Tuition and fees adds up!
In three sentences This is by far the prettiest campus that I looked at. While it is hilly, it is all within a 10 minute (walking) radius. I absolutely love it here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safety is always going to be a concern, no matter what college anyone decides to go to. At the U of A, we offer a service called SafeRide. If anyone is out late studying at the library and don't feel comfortable walking back to their dorm or car by themselves, they can dial SafeRide and two people in a golf cart will pick them up and drop them off at their dorm. There are also emergency lines/telephones all around campus to call the campus police in case of an emergency.
Greek Life There are two roads on campus that we call Fraternity Row and Sorority Row. All the Greek social organizations are highly active on campus and are quick to promote the University of Arkansas. If someone isn't interested in a social sorority or fraternity, there are also service sorority that focus on community service, or service to a group, like band. They have a service fraternity and sorority.
Clubs and Activities There is a club for everyone at the University of Arkansas. So far, there is a dance club that consists of ball room dancing, salsa dancing, etc. There is even a club on campus for the Harry Potter fans called quidditch, in which students play this game from Harry Potter and they even play other colleges.
Great for these types of students Great for students who love a change in scenery, who thrive in school spirit, and who doesn't mind being in classes that consist of 100 plus students in class.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus As it has been noted, there is only one Hog Nation in SEC. When going to a game, be it football, basketball, or anything else, the fans make sure everyone feels pride when they call the Hogs. By going to a football game, anyone else can pick up on the excitement that the audience feels when cheering for the Razorbacks. On campus, there are numerous places to relax at. For example, there is a koi fish pond in the Fine Arts garden and by Kimple Hall. These are quiet places to simply relax.
What to do for fun There is always something going on on campus. Movie nights, carnivals, and Friday Night Live. If campus life gets overwhelming, there are numerous trails to ride your bike on, go hiking on, places to swim, a lake to fish in, a large mall to go shop at, and art galleries across beautiful Fayetteville!
Food and Dining The food is normally delicious. However, after a while cafeteria food gets to be a bit of a routine. To change the routine, after 5 p.m.-11 p.m., the Union Food court offers Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, and numerous other fast food chain meals in exchange for a regular meal plan.
Dorm Life Depending on the dorm one chooses, it's always enjoyable. There seems to be some sort of activity going on every week in a dorm so there are numerous opportunities to meet new people!
Academic Rigor Classes can be challenging and invigorating. Teachers are always available to assist and there is the Enhanced Learning Center where one can ask for a tutor in nearly every subject.
Tips for prospective students Always keep up with your work and aim for completing it ahead of time. It'll be easier to keep track of. Work on time management skills and keep your health in check. Avoid video games and partying.
In three sentences It's wonderful and exciting. The scenery is beautiful, the teachers are wonderful, and financial office is more than willing to help. Overall, best college experience starts here.

Calling the hogs at a sold out football game with a packed stadium with the rest of the students and fans is an indescribable feeling and a definite must! Categories Comments Campus Safety I was shocked at how serious the campus took the issue of safety. There is a police station in the all girls dorm, friendly officers patrolling campus, and many other measures the school takes to ensure a safe learning and living environment.
Greek Life The University of Arkansas has some of the best Greek life around. It is a great opportunity to connect with some of the future leaders of this generation, and is a great way to stay involved around the campus.
Clubs and Activities I am a current member of the Rugby Club and various other organizations around campus. I have noticed that all of the clubs are very structured and provide an effective way to grow in leadership and vocational skills.
What to do for fun There is never an excuse to be out of things to do while attending the University of Arkansas. The school has rock climbing walls, high diving open to anyone, volleyball, racquetball, and basketball courts, a student technology center if state of the art computers, recording rooms, and last but not least, Guitar Hero.
Food and Dining The food is excellent. Chartwells is in charge of providing food for the campus dining halls and to be honest the food is better than I ever imagined. Foods can range from fillet mignon, crab and all other kinds of delicious meals.
Dorm Life The living areas are fantastic. All of the dorms have a wonderful community and offer ways for you to be involved and serve around campus. You can expect to meet some of your life long friends during this stage in your life.
Academic Rigor Classes are by no means a walk in the park. Some colleges are known as 13th grade, but at the University of Arkansas you can definitely expect to be challenge, although teachers are very willing to work with you and are always open to having office visits and other type of meetings if necessary.
Tips for prospective students If you choose to attend this school, get involved and be consistent in your involvement with a particular activity. It doesn't matter what club or organization you choose to join, there will be incredible people ready to help you grow and develop in ways you never imagined possible.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas is a wonderful college filled with incredible staff and peers. Categories Comments Campus Safety University of Arkansas has safety covered. They sem committed to making sure the campus is a safe place for students.
Greek Life I have been invited to participate in several fraternity rush parties. It is fun and exciting. My only comment would be it is a bit expensive for those already struggling to pay tuition.
What to do for fun Be a HOG. Get involved. There is something for everyone at the University of Arkansas. For me it will be supporting the razorbacks in their athletic endeavors. GO HOGS!

Dorm Life I have yet to experience dorm life. It will definately be an adjustment but one I am open to experiencing.
Academic Rigor University of Arkansas' Engineering College is top of the line. I get the impression that if you are willing to ask for help and commit to doing the work, they will do everything they can to help you succeed and achieve.
Tips for prospective students Visit several campuses. University of Arkansas Fayetteville is amazing but to fully grasp just how awesome it is, you need to visit a few other places. It feels good to be a HOG!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The University has it's own police department patrolling 24/7 for safety. You can even get transportation services if you feel unsafe.
Greek Life Definitely
Clubs and Activities There are too many clubs and activities to name.
Great for these types of students All types of people. the Campus is really lively, especially during the beginning of the semester and at the end of the week. Friday Night live/life is an event at the end of the week that has activities and fun for student to end the week with a bang. Razorbash starts art the beginning of the fall semester and lasts about 2-3 weeks. It's pretty much a free giveaway event for students. school equipment, coupons, clothes, sometimes money, and LOTS of free food are given away. The University has recently added a gaming center for students. It's only a few months old with the newest gaming technology. The lively atmosphere really brightens the place up. The University is a very safe environment. If you do feel unsafe, you can get transportation to and from place. I think that service is already included in your tuition, but I could be wrong.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Friday Night Live and Razorbash are a few examples of the traditions that we ave at the U of A. Friday Night Live is an entertaining and interactive event at the end of the week that has different themes every week. It's made to help relieve the stress caused by college. Razorbash is an event that gives out information about the different organizations, shops, and events that take place around the university. It also gives A LOT of free prizes.
Bang for the buck It's definitely a bang for the buck, If you get the Academic Scholarship and the pell grant, you are good to go. The price for tuition is very low compared to most colleges.
What to do for fun Sledding when it is snowing. The University is built on multiple hills which is great for sledding when it snows. Shopping and Dickson street. You'll find out what Dickson St is all about when you get there. It's Lots of fun and a great place to meet new people
Food and Dining There are many restaurants considering Fayetteville only has a population of almost 70,000 . The University has 3 main food centers. one near the Main Dorms, One in the center of campus and one in the southern area of campus. Fayetteville is ranked very high in small business success. There are A LOT of restaurants that surround the University so finding a great place with great food will be a piece of cake.
Dorm Life Dorm Life is a great experience. I HIGHLY recommend it. It allows you to meet new people from all over the world and learn about places you've never heard of.
Academic Rigor They are really in to keeping the Quality of learning at the maximum. Because of this, Academic dishonesty is not tolerated.
Tips for prospective students Your first few year will be very hard as the beginning courses are taught by grad students. I would recommend you doing some research on the courses you plan to take and the teachers that are teaching it. Some of the teachers are not the best at teaching. Good Luck.
In three sentences It has great resources to use if you need help in any way. They are very honest on what they say. It has a lot of tradition and history.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Key fobs are used to enter Residence Halls. Also student IDs are used before entering any dining hall. Campus police, Razor Alert, and other security means are right there on campus that make you feel comfortable at any time.
Greek Life As mentioned above, Greek Life plays a very important role at the University of Arkansas. Over half of the student body is a Greek! :) It's such a fun way to get to know people!
Great for these types of students There are so many job opportunities on campus. Work studies are very popular!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Calling the Hogs at sporting events is definitely a student and Razorback fan favorite. The Senior Walk is another popular tradition at the University. Once you graduate, your name will be etched into the sidewalk along with the other students that graduated within that year. Old Main is a popular location on campus. It can be seen from just about anywhere in the town of Fayetteville.
What to do for fun Greek life is a major interest and major element of fun among students at the U of A. Hundreds of RSOs vary from Dr. Pepper Lovers, to StuMo (Student Mobilization- a Christian worship service for students). Also, there is ALWAYS something happening around campus, especially in the Union and Union Mall.
Food and Dining The dining options on campus are very good! There is a Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Quiznos, Chik-Fil-A, Burger King, Einstein's Bagels, Sub shop, Burger/Sandwich shop, Coffee Houses, and numerous Dining Halls throughout campus.
Dorm Life There are many residence halls to choose from at the University of Arkansas. You can choose among just about any setting that you might want- such as all girls dorm, all boys, mix genders, honors dorms, etc... Some facilities are older buildings, but the accommodations are all up to date!
Academic Rigor The classes and courses at the U of A are quite rigorous. However, almost every professor is there to help you in any way that they can. Just go to class, study, and make sure all of your assignments are turned in! The Fay Jones School of Architecture is among the most rigorous and challenging colleges on the campus! Architecture and Interior Design Students spend hours upon hours working on projects!
Tips for prospective students First, listen to the student advisors at Orientation that are already in the degree plan that you are interested in. Don't doubt them. They've been through most of the program already and they know best. Second, get to know the faculty in your major and college within the University of Arkansas. It never hurts to be friends with your professors! :) Third, get involved as much as possible on campus. Whether it be through a Greek organization, intramural team, or different RSOs (student organizations), the more friends you will make and the more comfortable you will feel being away from home!
In three sentences I love the University of Arkansas for many reasons, such as the beautiful campus, the friendly and willing-to-help staff, the organization on campus, and the student life. The U of A also has a great Greek Program, which interests many of the students that attend. The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville is a beautiful, prestigious, and inviting campus that is growing each and every year.

Categories Comments Greek Life I'm very thankful that I'd lived in Fayetteville before I started going to college here because of the Greek Life. I have no desire to participate in Greek Life, which is a consuming part of the campus, and was happy to have a large base friend group before I started school. It's not very easy to meet people unless you go greek. Go Greek, or Go Home.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Smoker's Wall: the rock wall in front of Futrall. The spot where campus police cannot badger you for smoking a cigarette. It's also the place where the coolest people linger.
What to do for fun As a long time Fayetteville resident, I've grown up learning different things to do through the years. I'm a very outdoorsy person, so Fayetteville/NWA is perfect for me. There are atleast 6 rivers within a 2-3 hour drive. There are also some rivers that are less that 15 minutes away. The bike trail is a very wonderful new addition to Fayetteville: great for running and biking while serving as another route for those of us that stray from using vehicles. There are wonderful parks in Fayetteville: Wilson, Walker, Gulley, Iams Dog Park, Mt. Sequoyah. There is also Dickson St., one of the largest centers of entertainment in Fayetteville. It's covered in nifty shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, etc. However, you'll burn through your bank account pretty quickly if you spend all of your time on Dickson.
Food and Dining I never ate on campus. If I did eat, it was food that I brought with me from home. much healthier, cheaper, and better tasting!
Dorm Life I never lived in a dorm; I didn't want to live in a 10x10 foot box with someone I probably wouldn't get along with. I lived at my own house with my best friend and it was the best route for me to go. Much cheaper, too!
Academic Rigor Hit those books and don't ever stop. It does catch up with you, and when it does, it's twice as hard to catch back up. Make learning fun, and stick with it.
Tips for prospective students Don't get too caught up in partying, it will happen if you're not careful. Also, be yourself.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas is very grand and diverse school. It's a very social place, which may come in the way of studies. However, because it is so large, hundreds of courses are offered and the teachers are fantastic. The UofA is what you make it!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is one of the more big concerns that is taken into account the second you step on campus. The police even go as far as to train police dogs and rug dogs for anything that can happen on campus.
Greek Life Greek life is exciting because you are introduced into meeting new people who you might stay friends with for the rest of your life. For girls, it is the same concept.
Clubs and Activities Clubs and activities are plentiful and indeed very much fun. You can even start your own sport or even team in an intramural league. There are also parties that take place on and off of campus. Beware, you should be careful so as not to injure yourself or anyone else for that matter. Also don't get carried away with having fun the same activities will be there the day you study and the day you have some free time.
Great for these types of students The campus is great for smart students that learn how to manage their time and can do their work on time. Not to say that it isn't good for students that are average or even a little below average that can handle the work and avoid the continuous temptations of the campus and its social get-tethers.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I think that the student union is the most unusual but the place where the most fun is held. It has a lot of places to have fun inside including the bookstore and the gaming room.
Bang for the buck I think that overall, the campus is worth more in yearly expenses than is currently given. it has many things and many places to go and explore so you can do exactly what you want to whenever you want to. There is more to the college than it is given credit for.
What to do for fun There are a lot of things that you do on the campus such as rock climbing, basketball, or even student council. There are hundreds of groups and activities to go to or join so you choices are endless.
Food and Dining Food is necessity to have at a large campus such as the one in Fayetteville. You have the opportunity to pick and choose where you want to eat whenever you want to not when someone else chooses to eat.
Dorm Life It is perfect for people who like to mingle and have a lot of fun meeting new people everyday. Dorm life is fun but, you can't abuse its privileges.
Academic Rigor You cannot I repeat cannot have bad grades and think that you can just get by without doing little to any work.
Tips for prospective students My main and only tip is to learn how to manage your time. You have to make sure that you are doing all of your work before going to parties or hanging out for long hours on end.
In three sentences It is a campus made for a person who likes to have fun after they have completed their work. It has an excellent location being next to many restaurants so, the dining is also a main focus on the campus. It is a great campus to go to when you are going to be there for a long time.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I rated 4 stars only because of the presence of illegal drug and alcohol use on campus. The campus has its own police force that has a response time of under 2 minutes, a hired group of students who will come drive you or escort you anywhere else on campus at night, and emergency phone booths everywhere. There are never instances of violence, rare instances of rape outside of Greek life, and very few instances of theft on campus. However, in the dorms there is often illegal drug and alcohol use. It is easy enough to avoid, but it is there.
Greek Life The problem with Greek life is that there is a finite number of spots for an ever-growing number of pledges. There are dozens of fraternities and sororities, but there is only a single-digit number of groups that are cool that people REALLY want to be a part of. It is difficult to break into the scene without already knowing a lot of members or having a lot of money to buy all the status symbols of Greek life. Sororities do consider academic standings and value philanthropy, but the fraternities are mostly about parties and underage drinking.
Clubs and Activities There are more clubs than I care to count on campus. It is rather easy to get involved, and oftentimes you find yourself overwhelmed by all the meetings you don't have time to go to. There is also a huge intramural and club sports scene. The only problem with how many there are is that it is difficult to promote a new or growing club, and especially difficult to secure funding from the University.
Great for these types of students I believe that the University of Arkansas is great for any type of student looking to meet people of all kinds. Because it is a large state university, there are people of every type at every stage of life who are ready and willing to meet new people.
Bang for the buck The tuition is an amazing value considering the quality of the University's education. The only place where one might feel a bit cheated of money is when purchasing the room & board. The meal plan fees are exhorbitant, but thankfully there are many meal trade options that allow you to frequently partake non-dining hall food. The fees to live in a dorm are also higher than most apartments, especially in the Quads and Maple Hill complexes, but dorm life shouldn't be missed out on.
What to do for fun Fayetteville is chock full of things to do, especially in nature. There are hiking and biking trails everywhere, frisbee golf, and lakes. It also has a great deal of shopping areas, and for the 21+ crowd, a quite (in)famous bar district. Additionally, the University constantly has events going on, like plays, film screenings, and art exhibitions.
Food and Dining The Chartwells dining contract was a silly idea. They try to offer great variety, and they do, but oftentimes they choose things that aren't a part of a college kid's palette, or poorly execute a dish. It is difficult to avoid Chartwell's though, because they run every restaurant and dining hall on campus. It's ok as food, but meal plans are rather expensive considering the quality. Thankfully, there are many meal trade opportunities on and off campus.
Dorm Life The biggest downside to dorm life is the quality of the living facilities, and the lack of enforcement of noise restrictions during the week, especially considering that even the cheapest dorm is more expensive per month than many apartments. Some of the dorms were built in the 1970s and definitely look like it. The University is undergoing a lot of rennovations though, and as of this year has air conditioning in EVERY dorm. That being said, it is a super fun experience that should not be missed.
Academic Rigor Classes can be as easy or as difficult as you choose to make them. You can sign up for 15 credit hours (~5 classes) for an average academic load, up to 18 for a more difficult pace, and even above 18 with special permission. The core classes, such as history and literature, are not particularly difficult because everyone has to take them. Science classes and math classes are difficult however, because they tend to be weed out classes for the hoardes of pre-medical students that pass through the university.
Tips for prospective students If you are out-of-state, don't fear! If your GPA is above a certain level you can earn in-state tuition, which cuts it almost in half. If you are in-state, do everything you can to get a 32 superscore ACT (or equivalent SAT) in order to be eligible for the Governor's Distinguished Scholarship, or the U of A Fellowship, which leds you go to school for free.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas is a big state school with the feel of a smaller college. It has a very wide range of degree programs and many study abroad options, all at a low tuition rate. It is also located in a great area; not only is there a lot to do in Northwest Arkansas, it is the most rapidly growing part of the state, and has many job and internship opportunities nearby.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I would say that the campus is very secure. There are safe rides that run until 3 a.m and will pick you up from wherever you are. There are campus police, video cameras, and emergency buttons around campus.
Greek Life Greek life for Panhellenic is big on the Uof A campus. The NPHC is big with the minorities as well, but do not have as many chapters as Panhallenic.
Clubs and Activities There are clubs for the majority and clubs that cater to the minority. The most unusual club would be the Live Action Role Play club (LARP).
Great for these types of students Students in a sorority or fraternity, business, nursing, or engeneering students, and students who love arkansas and the razorbacks.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a bench in the back of the Silas Hunt building called the break-up bench. Students say that if a couple sits there they will break up. Dixon street is a popular area with restaurants and hang out spots that a lot of students go to.
Bang for the buck Sometimes you aren't always able to get the classes you need when you need them because they are all full. Some of the classes are big so that causes some difficulty as well.
Food and Dining Sometimes they have good food and sometimes they don't.
Dorm Life Dorm life depends on your dorm and how social the people are in that dorm.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you stay on your academics. Always attend the required advisor sessions so that you can get all the classes that you need. Enjoy yourself, but don't forget you are in college to gain an education.
In three sentences The university gets a 8 out of 10 for their pre-nirsing program. I give the U of A a 6 for class availability. I give a 7.5 for overall experience at the U of A.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is an on-campus police station that is constantly on call and patrolling. There are also people who work for the campus that will escort you back to your dorm or car at night. This service is included in your student fees.
Greek Life I'm not apart of Greek life but I have friends who are and every single one of them loves it. I've noticed they take a lot of pride in their sororities/fraternities and make life long friends and connections.
Clubs and Activities There are so many different clubs to join here I can't even begin to explain. The HPER building is also full of activities like basketball, racquetball, rock climbing, ping pong, and probably some other things I'm forgetting to mention. Also every Friday night the campus holds FNL (Friday night live) which has plenty for students to do.
Great for these types of students It's great for students looking for a life changing experience and to better their own lives through a top notch education.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Well if you come to this university you better be familiar with the Hog call Woo Pig Soooie.
Bang for the buck It's not cheap to attend this college; however, I feel that all the money I am putting towards my degree is going to come back ten fold after I graduate and get a job in my field.
What to do for fun Everyone at the University of Arkansas takes a lot of pride in our razorbacks. Whether it's football games, basketball, baseball, there is plenty of entertainment as far as sporting events on campus. Also the university always holds 1-2 concerts each year with big name bands that are free to students. The town of Fayetteville also has a lot to offer for college students looking for something to do.
Food and Dining There are three dining halls here which all serve a wide variety of good tasting food. The prices aren't unreasonable either. Especially if you get on a meal plan and eat a lot.
Dorm Life I enjoyed staying on campus my first year. It allowed me to make a lot of friends that I can see myself having for a long time. I agree dorm-life might not be for everybody, but if you think you would be interested this campus has plenty of dorms to choose from. My dorm had an indoor theater and ping pong tables and a study room, so there was plenty to keep me busy.
Academic Rigor It's not easy to get a degree here this is a highly prestigious college. The university has a very strict academic honesty policy. I haven't taken a class yet that I didn't have to study rigorously to make a good grade. No matter what direction you go in, if you graduate from the University of Arkansas you will graduate a much more well-rounded person.
Tips for prospective students Take a tour of the campus and take the time to talk to different departments to see if you will like the style of learning that U of A has to offer. U of A is a large campus but you will learn your way around pretty quick.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas has a great campus, even though it is currently under a lot of construction, which is going to improve its classrooms even further. It's placed in the town of Fayetteville which is a perfect college town. The staff is also so helpful I've had great experiences with almost all of my professors.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are many different on campus escort systems available to drive you wherever you need to go. Not to mention...there's an on campus police station and many scattered emergency kiosks.
Greek Life This university has the best Greek life of any college I've ever heard of. It's absolutely spectacular here.
Clubs and Activities Almost every single interest you have ever had has a club tied into it at the University of Arkansas. We have some clubs as random as the Quidditch team, LARPing team, humans vs. zombies game, and chess club. Those are a few out of hundreds.
Great for these types of students The University of Arkansas is perfect for students who are church oriented, into outdoor activities, in love with the mountains, happy to meet new people, and interested in an international, diverse population.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The pep rallies and some concerts are held in a giant Greek theater in the center of campus. Barnhill Arena is home every year to the Wal Mart shareholder's meeting. Performers such as Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, and Taylor Swift have performed there.
Bang for the buck Just come visit the campus. You will not be disappointed!
What to do for fun Be sure to stop by the HPER and see all the Intramural sports and activities all of the University of Arkansas students have access to. Frisbee on Old Main lawn, going out on Dickson street (the main strip in Fayetteville), playing capture the flag on campus with a group of your dorm friends, and simply walking around the campus taking pictures are all fun, safe, and memorable activities.
Food and Dining There are three dining halls on campus: Brough, the Quads, and the Pomfreteria. The campus catering company is called Chartwells. Overall, the food is quite enjoyable with the occasional off day. Buying a hefty meal plan is definitely in your best interest. Brough has the best pizza, the Pomfreteria has the best cookies, and the Quads' breakfast is unimaginably wonderful.
Dorm Life There are many different dorms. Most are Co-ed but three are all Female: Gibson, Reid, and Buchanan Droke. I lived in Pomfret which has three wings: B, C, and D. B-wing is home to the Honors College. I absolutely loved my time in Pomfret. I knew nearly everyone including the Resident Assistants. With the dining hall built directly into the dorm, eating was as easy as walking out your door and into the Pomfreteria.
Academic Rigor As at any university or college, the academic rigor depends solely on the classes you take as well as your overall major. The Biology and Engineering majors tend to have the stereotypically rigorous courses. The professor you have for a class may also play a part in its level of rigor. RateMyProfessor.com is a great resource for reading other students' comments on their professors.
Tips for prospective students Future Students, be sure to always walk your schedule at least three times before the first day of classes. Its a large campus and it's very easy to get lost! Don't be scared to make friends in your dorm! Everyone there is just as new and probably just as lost. Get out of your dorm once in a while! Not only did you go to college, but you moved to a different city! Take a bus ride or a walk off campus. I promise you will find something interesting. The last tip is about classes. Be sure to sit close to the front, but be careful. If you sit in the front row, you might be alone. College students tend to seat from the back of the classroom to the front. To be safe, sit in the first three rows. Not only will you be able to meet more people, but you will not miss anything and you will not come off as an overzealous student or suck-up.
In three sentences This university has an internationally diverse and overall joyous campus while maintaining a plethora of church organizations, fraternities, and sororities. There is a college for many different areas of study whether it be Business (Walton College), Architecture (Fay Jones School), or International Relations (Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences), etc. As a Business and Foreign Language student, I am split between two different colleges and the University has made that very simple.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have always felt comfortable and at home, even at night. Although there have been reported muggings and rapes over the years, these are few and far between. the campus is very safe and well-monitored.
Greek Life Greek life is huge at this school. Greek life helps its members to make friends and make it through school. The Greek life makes the campus more lively.
Clubs and Activities U of A has awesome clubs and activities. It does a good job of catering to all the different interests of students. No matter who you are, you can find something that interests you.
Great for these types of students Students who enjoy sports and campus life. U of A offers countless activities for all different types of interests. Also, a great school for business majors.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Students often go to the library to sleep on the bean bags between classes. This is a great spot, because sometimes you have nowhere else to go and have been studying all night. I have also heard that the couches in the engineering building are a good escape.
Bang for the buck Included in tuition are doctor's fees, access to full fitness center, and free tutors. I am happy to have them included, because they are so helpful. I think the tuition fees are reasonable.
What to do for fun Fayetteville is a small community and students can walk, ride the bus, or ride a bike to the movies, mall, park, boutiques, and restaurants. Students get half priced tickets to the Walton Arts Center, which offers plays and concerts. Also, there are countless clubs and volunteer work offered at the U of A.
Food and Dining Luckily the campus has several restaurants and cafeterias to choose from. Also, you can look forward to free pizza, donuts, or hot dogs at least twice a month. My biggest complaint is that the food can be too expensive.
Dorm Life I have never lived on campus, but have never desired to do so. Dorm life seems like an enclosing pen for students. However, I feel that the dorms can be beneficial to first year/ out of state students.
Academic Rigor I have received a valuable amount of knowledge from every class attended at the U of A. I am grateful to be attending a college that is challenging. The U of A has a solid foundation in their academia.
Tips for prospective students College is a great place to meet different types of people. Do not be shy about getting to know your classmates. A study partner is a must have, because often they can help you just as much as a tutor.
In three sentences The U of A has a beautiful campus and a great school spirit. As a bureaucracy, the school can feel impossible to deal with (concerning enrollment and financial aid). I feel that most of the student population is happy to attend this school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is Razorback Transit buses that go in all directions and most importantly there is SAFE RIDE. They will come and get you at night where ever you are and take you home.
Greek Life Very well known and loved. However, I do not choose the lifestyle.
Clubs and Activities I have not been to many activities since I work more often than I require free time. But they have all sorts of events everyday and weekend. It is never boring here at the YOU of A!
Great for these types of students - Artistis - Intelligible - Engineer - Agriculture - For students who love the feeling of Home - Medical Majors - People with a sense of humor:)
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Location: Their are many small shops around/near campus. Coffee, bagels, you name it. You are bound to find the group you belong in. TRADITION: Woo Pig Sooie!! Need I say more?
Bang for the buck Pricey? I would say a little so. But hey, it's college. Take it seriously and be dedicated. It will be worth it in the long run.
What to do for fun - Take a walk and see the beauty of the campus - Tour Old Maine - Check out the Walmart on Campus - Attend a Razorback Game and see how real fans show spirit - Join in on some volunteer work - Get an on-campus job
Food and Dining Healthy and vegetarian friendly. I was so surprised of how wide their food selection is. I love it.
Dorm Life Pretty amazing! It just depends on who you are and what building you live in. You can match what fits you best on my checklist on uark.edu.
Academic Rigor They are polite, but do take crime seriously. If you are caught doing something illegal it's not very often they let you off the hook too easily.
Tips for prospective students - Get involved - Stay on your toes and be aware of how much work you have - Make your advisor your best friend - Know the Registrar employees
In three sentences The University of Arkansas has a motto called the YOU of A and they certainly do not lie. They put you first and always help with whatever dilemma a student has. Their resources are unlimited and absolute.

Categories Comments Greek Life By far one of the greatest Greek Life organizations in the United States of America. You simply cannot get any more greek than Southeastern Conference. If you are interested in taking opportunities to really get involved and make a difference for this campus, get a brotherhood/sisterhood for life, and to better yourself as a young man/woman in this world, then Greek Life at the University of Arkansas is the place for you.
What to do for fun There are so many incredible opportunities to have a good time every day here in Fayetteville, AR. With incredible camping/hiking in the rolling Ozark Mountains, Bike/Running trails all over, sports events, parks, concerts; it would be impossible to do everything fun around this campus in one life-time. You will never get bored here at the U of A. This campus is full of and surrounded by adventure and fun activities that you should definitely take advantage of every chance you get.
Food and Dining Great food all over campus. With the main street of Fayetteville, AR right down the middle of campus, to meal plans with more food than you could imagine. You will never go hungry here at the U of A and you will not just be receiving any old cafeteria food, but some the best cooking known to college students universally.
Dorm Life Dorms here at the U of A are top notch and has one of the best dorm communities for freshmen that I have ever witnessed. With 4 person suites to a nice cozy 2 person room all with WiFi, Cable, and tons of activities and opportunities to live more than comfortably getting the campus experience like never before. Always something fun to do with your dorm mates, yet also a perfect place to get rest or catch an afternoon nap after your studies and activities outside of the room.
Academic Rigor If there is a degree you desire to obtain, the U of A has the professors and faculty to get you there. A wide variety of students studying a wide variety of different studies. Study hard, go to class, and listen to the paid professionals who know their stuff and you will without a doubt succeed and leave this campus a scholar!
Tips for prospective students Come ready and willing to meet new people! Freshmen year get involved in as much on campus as you possibly can that does not negatively affect your education here. Seek out groups and clubs that will best suit you to begin creating strong and long lasting friendships and relationships.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas is a phenomenal place to not only get your education, but also to make incredible memories, life-long relationships, and open doors to a bright future. There is never a boring day and always something to do around this campus with a large amount of great clubs, exciting events, beautiful outdoors, and excellent student/faculty facilities. The U of A is by far one of the finest campuses in the SEC, if not the entire nation.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Like any University there is the occasional issue, but all in all I believe it to be pretty safe.
Greek Life There is a great greek life although I am not part of it.
Great for these types of students Great for students that come from small towns, because it is calm but has some excitement to it.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are several traditions surrounding sports which show a lot of school spirit and togetherness.
What to do for fun There is a somewhat avid nightlife. I think that for American students it is perfect, but for international students it may be somewhat disappointing. It is a very small town but the fact that it is a College town gives it a nice vibe. All in all it's fun.
Dorm Life I liked living in the dorm. I lived in a calm all girls dorm where I felt somewhat at home and I felt I could relax.
Academic Rigor I do not find this University to be mentally challenging, but it does do the job. Like any University, it entails a lot of work.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is very safe.
Greek Life Greek life at the University of Arkansas is huge, it's definitely something I would recommend to incoming students.
Clubs and Activities There are more than 400 registered student organizations.
Bang for the buck Extremely good price for the quality.
What to do for fun -Hang out with friends. -Go to parties. -Explore around Devils Den. -Join a club or greek life.
Food and Dining The food could be better, but Freshens, late night, au bon pain, and all of the other options are wonderful.
Dorm Life I lived in Yocum and loved it. It's a very social dorm compared to Maple or the Quads.
Academic Rigor The academics are moderately hard. How hard your classes are depends on your major and your high school experience. You will definitely need to learn how to study in advance.
Tips for prospective students -Learn study skills. -Visit campus in the fall to fully appreciate how gorgeous it is here. -Explore Fayetteville. It's a really cool town. -Come to a football game!
In three sentences I love attending the University of Arkansas and being a Razorback. This school offers so many great opportunities and the cost of living is very reasonable. I wouldn't want to go to any other school.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Frat houses, bars on Dickson when you're 21, Devil's Den hiking.
Food and Dining The food here is disgusting. The first couple weeks of it are fine, but after awhile you start to get sick of it. They don't have good quality food nor do they have a variety of foods to choose from. No fruit, like ever. And the hours are awful...literally the dining halls close so early. DON'T get the 15 meal plan get the 10. I have it and I've struggle to use it more often.
Dorm Life Live in Maple if you can, its not the most social but its really really nice having your own bathroom. Yocum and Humphrey's and Reid are the most social dorms. Dorm life overall just sucks.
Academic Rigor Not very hard at all. If you're a business major then it's a bit more challenging. But my freshman year here was easier than my high school freshman year.
Tips for prospective students If you're a guy, definitely rush. If you're a girl its not as necessary but I would recommend it. Also, take Composition I and II at a local community college. Don't waste your money on it here. Maple Hill and the Quads are the nicest dorms, and while many girls want to live in Reid a lot of girls regret it because it's so gross and dirty in there.
In three sentences If you're not involved in Greek Life then you probably don't have too many friends. It's very hard to meet people as it is when you're in Greek life, so not being in it makes it that much harder. Also, the academics are not very challenging. Composition I and II are an absolute joke and a waste of money.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have NEVER felt unsafe on campus. There are many emergency poles where UAPD will be there in less than 2 minutes if you press the button.
What to do for fun Intramural sports, there are many clubs, and there is always some sort of event to go to whether it is a movie or a special event sponsored by university programs
Food and Dining Pretty good food especially during finals week. The people are nice and the dining halls are fairly large and offer a lot of different choices.
Dorm Life Great dorms, a variety to choose from depending on your situation. I loved on-campus housing.
Academic Rigor Wide range of majors and minors to choose from. The staff is awesome and they make you want to stay. I thought I was not going to be able to be away from home but after my first semester I knew this was the place for me.
Tips for prospective students I encourage you all the join R.O.C.K camp to meet new people and get to know the campus. It will make a huge difference!
In three sentences I love the U of A. It is a very safe place and very friendly. They have a lot of outreach programs and organizations.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone really, but especially those who want to go to a big university, but not an over-whelmingly large university.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to come to a campus visit, so you can see all the places you can potentially live, and buy lots of red clothing before moving here!
Bang for the buck With all the university offers to its students, such as free concerts and over 300 different groups students can get involved in, along with the quality of education and the reasonably priced housing, the university is definitely worth the tuition rates.
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful, there's a great view from on top of the hill. The school spirit here is incredible, and attending a football game is an amazing experience, and something that every student should do.
Am learning a lot I'm currently a second semester freshman enrolled in the Walton College of Business. The classes relate so well to the real world, and strive to not just teach you about what it takes to be in the business world, but to help you develop the skills to put everything you've learned to use. The Walton College of Business also has a program called Leadership Walton, which is another wonderful way to develop key skills needed for surviving in the business world.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students U of A offers something for everyone. You can enjoy the team spirit and fantastic Razorback fans, the beautiful campus, the community of Fayetteville, the variety of courses but most of all, the people - Southern Hospitality for sure!
Tips for prospective students If you really want to make new friends, then go greek. Even if you decide not to pledge, you will meet so many new people during the process. Enjoy every minute, don't stress, have fun and appreciate the experience.
Bang for the buck I think when you are paying for your education you will appreciate it more. However, I do not like the fact that the U of A is raising tuition fall 2011 by 7%. Haven't they heard about the great recession? It is already difficult to pay for college, now it is even harder.
Am enjoying being here It was super fun the first week, all new and fresh. Then classes started, then the tests, mid-terms and then finals. So the new wears off and the work begins, that is when you get a little homesick. Stay focused, stay busy and stay caught up. You will make it! After the first semester is under your belt, the next seems to run a bit more smoothly. I lived in Maple Hill, it was a great dorm! I highly recommend it.
Am learning a lot Freshman year is definitely a transition year. You learn to be away from home, you learn to manage your time, you learn to do your laundry, you learn to get around a new town and campus, you learn to make new friends, and you learn that you are not in high school anymore!!!! School is harder, professors expect more and you must be responsible if you are going to succeed. You will learn!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The University of Arkansas is good for all types of people. There is something for everyone to get involved in, and there are classes to attract every type of learner.
Tips for prospective students Apply for scholarships early and often, visit during two different seasons, bring rain boots, bring a heavy winter coat, and come prepared and open to new ideas and people.
Bang for the buck The university makes it rather affordable for out of state students to attend by offering in-state tuition based on GPA and ACT/SAT scores. Combined with private and departmental scholarships, college was more affordable than I planned for it to be.
Am enjoying being here Being from a large town, I'm enjoying the small town feel of Fayetteville. It's a nice change from Saint Louis. I enjoy attending the university and wouldn't change it for the world. I am very glad I made the decision to go away to school, and very glad I made the decision to come to the U of A.
Am learning a lot Though I've only been a student at the U of A for a semester (it went by very quickly), I have learned a lot inside and outside of the classroom. I've learned how to study so that I learn the information and not just memorize it long enough to pass a test. I've learned how to make better friends. I've learned how to live with someone (I'm an only child). I've how to get involved and not have to be the center of attention (I'm somewhat shy). And most importantly, I've learned how to fully be me. Living and learning at the University of Arkansas has been of the best decisions and experiences of my life.

What to do for fun We hang out a lot in fraternity houses. Sports play a huge role in our college. Football is a big deal around here.
Food and Dining Food is overall pretty great. The Quads and Hill Grill have the best food. Lots of options across campus.
Dorm Life Most dorms are great especially hill place, and the quads. Try to stay away from humphrey's. Pomfret is a good community to be in.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Those who love the outdoors! After all, Arkansas is called the Nature State. Parks and rivers are just a quick walk, bike ride, or drive away.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Tusk the Third - the U of A's official live mascot. Student Walk - every graduate literally becomes a part of the school because their name is carved into the sidewalk. Old Main - a building that's been here since the school was founded.
Dorm Life I live at Pomfret Honors Quarters and, even though I hate the hill sometimes, I wouldn't change my choice. In just a few short months, I've made friends that I felt I've known for years. The bathrooms are clean, and the RAs are friendly and knowledgeable.
Academic Rigor Although I can't personally attest for the science classes (I'm a history major), I have enough friends that curse the engineering program. The classes are a challenge, especially in those areas, but not impossible. Just get ready to sacrifice some weekends for studying, and you should fine.
Tips for prospective students Get ready to call the Hogs! The school is a thing obsessed. Try to get to know your professors - they're nice and you'll to need them come reference letter time.
In three sentences The U of A has a beautiful campus with rolling hills and scenic skylines. The community is safe and welcoming. Although they are quite a challenge, the courses are engaging and professors are friendly.

Food and Dining the food is descent here. some days the food is great and delicious and then other days you just don't want to eat on campus. the days with good food are mostly the weekdays and the weekends are the most likely to have not very nice food.
Dorm Life dorm life is great, it is a great experience. you get to meet tons of people and there is always something going around here. if you have the option to live in your dorm, do not miss out on it.
Academic Rigor the classes are taught very well and in a good working environment. if you need help you have the people for it. the material is taught very well and clear in most of the classes and this university definitely has a firm academic rigor.

Tips for prospective students even though there are a lot of students, it's still a community. it isn't necessary to know what you want to study when entering college, because you'll probably change your mind anyway. college is a time to get to know yourself, so try new things.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The University has it's own police department, so any 911 calls are responded to quickly. Also, there are emergency posts visible from anywhere you stand on campus, so if you're ever in trouble, there is always one close. Also, if you're afraid to walk back from class after dark, the UAPD is more than happy to walk you back if you give them a call. The university also has Safe Ride, so if you are out at night and too far to walk back or can't drive for whatever reason, they'll come pick you up.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Holcombe Hall is the international dorm on campus and is a ton of fun! Ping pong is big! The international students are a ton of fun and are more than willing to do goofy stuff with people!
Bang for the buck If you're a big coffee person and you don't care where it comes from, RZ's is a good place. They actually have really good coffee and they have punch cards that every time you buy 10 drinks, you get one free.
What to do for fun There is always something going on on campus. Friday Night Live is an event the university puts on every week and is always a lot of fun!
Food and Dining The food is good. The Northwest Quads cafeteria is the best. Late Night is also a lifesaver for the late night study sessions!
Dorm Life The dorms are fun. They normally have some kind of event going on at least once a week between them all. The smaller dorms especially, are like a family.
Academic Rigor The classes are tough, but no impossible. The teachers are ready and willing to work with their students and all you have to do is ask. You do need to study and that is a mistake that most freshmen make.
Tips for prospective students Get an upperclassman to show you around campus. It's a college, so parts of it can be dangerous at night and they know what areas to avoid. Also, put all of the emergency numbers in your phone, because it will help you later on.

What to do for fun There is so much to do for fun. I especially like enjoying the nature surrounding campus.
Food and Dining The dinning halls are pretty decent for cafeteria food, but you will definitely grow tired of it.
Dorm Life I lived in Yocum, and I had SO much fun. There are so many people in Yocum and i made so many friends there.
Academic Rigor Some classes are far more challenging than others, but nothing too difficult a serious student can't handle.
Tips for prospective students You should try and select your dorm as soon as possible, because the openings for rooms close really quickly. Also, you should check out the campus before getting to school.
In three sentences This is a really great school. The academics and activities outside of school are great. There is always something to do at the U of A.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Pretty good price for the education.. but it is a public college so I would think it should be less.
What to do for fun Dickson street has lots of bars and restaurants, but for the most part it's a pretty quiet town. Not lots to do if you're underaged.
Food and Dining Lots of great places on Dickson!
Dorm Life I absolutely hated the dorms here... but I just had a bad experience.
Academic Rigor Really good professors. They expect a lot from you though. You aren't in high school anymore!
Tips for prospective students Take a campus tour. It will definitely give you a feel for being on campus and you can tell if you could see yourself attending the university.
In three sentences A great public school! Definitely the best in Arkansas!

Categories Comments Food and Dining The food is average. It's good at first but it kind of gets boring after awhile. I loved how they had a sandwich and pasta line. Those were the best!
Dorm Life I absolutely loved living in the dorm. I lived in Humphreys and all my friends came from that dorm. It's an extremely social dorm and I think it's the best on campus!
Academic Rigor The academics are great! The professors are willing to help and will work with you if you need it. There are so many academic resources on campus that are extremely helpful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Absolutely amazing. They do their job very well. Theres on campus police as well as a police station on Razorback Rd that is probably a 2 minute drive away, if that.
Greek Life Greek life at the U of A is amazing. Every house loves their sisters and there isn't a barrier between houses. Everyone is friends with everyone.
Clubs and Activities Dickson street is amazing if you're 21. If you aren't and you want to party, fraternity row is where it is at!
Great for these types of students Its awesome if you like to go out, but don't go out too much. A lot of people do that.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Calling the hogs is always a favorite!
Bang for the buck GO. TO. CLASS. I cannot stress this enough.
What to do for fun Theres a bunch of stuff to do at the HPER like basketball, volleyball, and racketball. Theres usually someone playing all of these sports and people will usually invite you if you stand there.
Food and Dining Pretty impressive! You can make your own pasta for dinner and your own omlette for breakfast.
Dorm Life I love the dorms! Yocum and Humphreys are the best because its a lot more social and you're right infront of all of the buildings that you go to class in--hence, more sleep for you.
Academic Rigor I haven't taken any classes that have been too challenging, but if you go to every single class then you're almost guaranteed above a C.
Tips for prospective students Don't live in Maple Hill or the NW Quads... You'll never meet anyone. Live in Yocum, Humphreys, Reid, or any other place but MP and NWQ. Don't schedule any classes before 10... You won't go. Promise. Make sure you GO to class or you'll lose all of your scholarships. Its easy to get hung up on partying here so make sure you can control yourself.
In three sentences The school pride here is absolutely astounding. The night life is incredible and the food is amazing. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Dorm Life Dorm life is great at the University of Arkansas. To get the college life and experience it is imperative to stay on campus in a dorm. Dorm Life is a lot of fun and it is a great community to get involved with whether you are studying or just hanging out with your neighbors.

Food and Dining One word: AMAZING.
Dorm Life DORMS LOOK AMAZING. This school has one of the greatest dorms systems and campus apartments I've ever seen. Well worth the money!
Academic Rigor Classes seem to be the best for your money. The teachers care about their students and will do anything to help.

Categories Comments What to do for fun University provided activities, parties, football games, gym.
Food and Dining It is definitely better than High school, thought after two years of cafeteria it can be a pain.
Dorm Life You will meet all kind of people, it really will broader your perspective on things. Observe more, talk less.
Academic Rigor It can be very distracting, and teachers sometime don't really care about their method of teaching. It takes self-balancing skills to achieve the goal.
Tips for prospective students be open minded, but be self-controlling. Take everyday seriously and make it worthy.
In three sentences The university has broader my perspective on every aspect. I have learned that University is not all about knowledge, but also the people you met and the way to learn things. It is also a time to experience new things.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a police headquarters on campus to ensure your safety as well as others. Even when you need a ride to your dorm, the campus offers razor transit which is a fast, on-call transportation service. There are light post located in the main campus court at every siting in case you get scared at night or lost, you just simply hit the emergency button and someone will arrive at your request.
Greek Life Greek life usually ends every semester with a huge BANG. if your not interested in being in a sorority or fraternity, on this campus, you still have the option of being apart of their events. These are fun, safe, enjoyable events that can take place on or off campus. See uark.edu for more information on the different sororities/fraternities offered if you're interested.
Clubs and Activities There are many different colleges within the University of Arkansas for each intended major and for every college there are MANY different clubs and organizations to become involved in. You can even get help from staff starting your very OWN organization or club. For more information visit leadership.uark.edu or visit the main website and click student life in the navigation bar.
What to do for fun The university offers ALL sports and extra curricular activities. There is an outside campus life as well. Its very easy to make friends because everyone is nice. There are many places to go right by the campus to enjoy yourself such as parties, bars, or we have special get together's on campus as well as exciting Greek life.
Food and Dining The university of Arkansas had many different selection of food from cafeteria's to fast food resturant's right there on campus. You will enjoy using your student id card to use meal plans to pay for food instead of having to pay out of pocket. There is a Chik-Fil-A, Burger King, Papa Johns, Starbucks, Subway, Big Mama's Pizza, a Mexican and Chinese restaurant and many convenient food places along the dorms or just convenient stores.
Dorm Life The dorm life is wonderful. Clean, very spacious, close to classes. The RA's on duty are very helpful and always on-call when you need them.
Academic Rigor The University of Arkansas ensure the success of every attending student. They are concerned and there to help.
Tips for prospective students Apply. Achieve. Excel.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas is a very prestigious college and I am overwhelmed to be in the undergraduate studies program. There are many different features that make the University a great school to attend , so its not all about the Razorback football team here. The education given is fun, but guaranteed to be successful to make their students potential employers to future companies.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are a lot of activities going on around school, if you look for it. Sometimes dorms hold game nights and there are other things like clubs that offer some fun extracurricular activities.
Food and Dining The food here is really good and the choices are everywhere from deli sandwiches to pizza.
Dorm Life The dorms are really opinion based. Some dorms are really nice while others suffer from things like no air conditioning, but this year they started renovating the old dorms, so it is getting better.
Academic Rigor The classes offered are easy to jump into, so long as you go to classes. The professors are a great help if you talk to them as well.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you know where your classes are before hand and get a parking pass soon.
In three sentences It is a big university with a wide variety of study areas. The food is good with lots of choices and the campus offers a lot of areas to eat at, not just one central location. The only thing bad may be the fact that parking is not so well around here.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This University is great for students who like to meet new people, and lots of them. While the campus may be huge, there are over 25,000 students attending this fall and that means a lot of socializing.
Bang for the buck The University really does give you the bang for your buck. While it may cost a little more than other Arkansas Universities it is worth it. The classes are fast paced and often utilize the full time given to them to ensure that you get as much information as possible. Even if it is a class you do not enjoy, you can not help but learn something from every class.
What to do for fun The U of A is the home of the Arkansas Razorbacks and, as such, going to games is a big part of the university experience. You can hae a lot of fun in the stands cheering on the team. Besides that, there are a lot of extracurricular clubs, sports, fraternitys and sororitys to be a part of and to make your time more enjoyable.
Academic Rigor The majority of the U of A classes are fast paced and interactive. There are lots of group projects and activities that make the learning a lot of fun and help you connect with your fellow students.
Tips for prospective students My tip for prospective students is a good pair of shoes. The U of A campus is huge and with the heavy Fayetteville traffic it is a lot easier to just walk to your next class, even if it is across campus.
In three sentences Thus far, the U of A is an awesome place. It has nice facilities and the majority of the faculty know well and even work in what they are teaching you. Despite some initial misgivings, I have enjoyed my time there.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UAPD makes a valiant effort to create a safe atmosphere for education and good-natured fun, but students don't always live within normal social understandings of safety, i.e. female college students walking around sketchy areas of town at 4am. If you act safe, you will be safe.
Greek Life Greek Life dominates the social sect of the University of Arkansas. There are other social gatherings but beware that Greek Life will be ever present on campus.
Clubs and Activities Clubs and Activities are quite a large devoted pass time for U of A students.
Great for these types of students It is a great school for Business tracked students and students looking into the Nursing program.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Calling the hogs is an unusual tradition on campus, once educated on the ritual it becomes quite enjoyable.
Bang for the buck Especially within the Honors college, U of A is incredible cost efficient and valuable.
What to do for fun For fun I interact with my fellow students, and engage in extracurricular clubs. An example would is the Space HOGS club, a club on astronomical studies.
Food and Dining Food and dining is surprisingly good. The meal trade options after the dining halls have closed make living away from home less regulate by time.
Dorm Life Dorm life is fairly average. If you can afford/ gain access to the Quad, dorm life is fairly similar to apartment style living. Most people are friendly and eager to connect, especially their freshman year.
Academic Rigor Within the honors college the U of A challenges some of the more prestigious East Coast schools. If the honors college is an option for you, it is the most cost efficient decision.
Tips for prospective students Connect with your professors. Make an active attempt to become engaged with your professors. This will greatly aide you in the long run.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas resides on a beautiful campus, among some impressive buildings, and with a seemingly non-diverse student body. The academics are fairly strong, especially within the honors college. Greek Life does dominate the social life, but other social circles exists-- they are not as prominent.

Dorm Life Sorry I can't say. I haven't lived here
Academic Rigor You got to spend a lot of reading and studying in a lot of you classes.

Categories Comments Greek Life There's Greek life for ANYONE. Social, service, religious, etc. There's a fraternity for the Quidditch team even, and a Fraternity and Sorority for Marching band. It's very diverse.
Great for these types of students Everyone -- especially music students. The staff is incredible. But anyone can fit in here.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's an Einstein Bros. Bagels on campus hidden around the Business buildings. It's a really nice area to just chill ... and get a bagel!
Bang for the buck For a quality education, there was no better option than U of A for me. If you get in-state tuition (either through the NART waiver, or your residence) it's an incredible deal. I still had to pull a loan, but at other schools of less degree outside of my state, they were a lot more money.
Food and Dining The food is delicious for campus food. I don't frequent breakfast in the halls too often but when I have, it's amazing. One place will often be better for some types of food than others (i.e., Brough has the best sandwiches, NW Quad has the best Wok, Pomfret has the best cookies) but you can go to any one of them and be happy with your food options.
Dorm Life Since I live in the newest dorms on campus, my opinion is slightly skewed. But, I can say that I've been in every dorm on campus and they're all livable. I personally couldn't live in a communal shower setting but, they are kept pretty well in the dorms that have them. Point being, there are lots of options on campus in all price ranges. Some that aren't as nice are more central though, so sometimes being closer to classes is more important than your own shower (although that's really nice). There's plenty of options and now all of them are Air Conditioned. And all of them have pretty good RAs and events to help you bond with people in your hall.
Academic Rigor Depending on what class you're in depends on how hard things are. Every major keeps you busy from day one (but not too busy), and mine (music education) keeps me very busy simply because of the competition and time commitments. There is a way to do it all and do well, but it's not a breeze all around. There are basic classes of all sorts for a blow off class, but when you get in your major, they will teach you.
Tips for prospective students My tips are to bring rain boots, snow boots, a rain jacket, and good walking shoes. The weather in Fayetteville is mostly beautiful, but goes from pouring rain to several feet of snow over the year, so it's good to be prepared. There are tons of hills, so you need to wear the appropriate shoes. I use toms because they're comfy to me, but I keep a few good pairs of tennis shoes around too.
In three sentences Arkansas is a great school for everyone, whether you're an athlete, into Greek life, zombie week, Quidditch, intramural sports, or just plain hanging out. Almost everyone at the school is involved in two or more things and keeps up with their grades. The school is just a great place to be and there are very few things I would change.

Great for these types of students The University of Arkansas is great for any type of student!

Bang for the buck Arkansas offers in state tuition for surrounding states and tremendous financial aid for in state students.
What to do for fun Athletic events are HUGE at Arkansas! Woo Pig Sooie! There are always opportunities to support the hogs!
Food and Dining The food on campus is AMAZING! There is always plenty to choose from and variations of food for students with dietary issues to choose from.
Dorm Life The dorm life at the University of Arkansas gives you the complete college experience. There are always events going on to make you feel at home.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor truly depends on personal discipline and area of study.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to map out the classes that you register for. The campus is large and you have to give yourself enough time to get from class to class.
In three sentences There are numerous ways to get involved on campus. Fayetteville is a great community. The University truly cares about students and will assist in every way possible.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck For the amenities that this school offers the tuition is super cheap. $204.70 per credit hour is very comparable to other universities and U of A has a great academic reputation. These were the main reasons I transferred here.
What to do for fun There is always something to do. They have free movies every Thursday in the Union theater, Dickson St. has the nightlife, plenty of educational lectures, free concerts and events.
Food and Dining The union has a taste of food for everyone-fresh chinese, mexican, burger king, chik fil-a, there are also the dining halls that have EVERYTHING. Coffeshops and sub shops-you can't go hungry here!
Dorm Life Sorry I can't tell you about dorm life-I live off campus.
Academic Rigor Classes here will definitely prepare you for your field of study.
Tips for prospective students Just come and visit the campus. You will love it! This is my 3rd school, I loved it from the first day!

Categories Comments Campus Safety One thing im extremely glad we have is amazing campus safety. There is emergency buttons on every corner of the campus along with safe ride adn razorback patrol to give you rides late at night instead of walking alone or drinking and driving.
Greek Life There is tons of Greek life oppurtunities for everyone. This year all of my roomates are ina sorority .
What to do for fun There is always something to do on campus! they have an activity and club for EVERYONE! theres zombie wars, movie nights, talents shows, sorority/faternity functions, pep rallys and many more things to do all the time.
Food and Dining The food and dining on campus are good. When you get tired of one dining hall there are plenty of others. Plus we also have meal trade options that they don't really tell you about at orientation that come in handy after a late night of studying!
Dorm Life This is problaby the craziest part for my self. I live in ad orm with 3 other girls and let me tell you, its where the arguing begins. I STRONGLY suggest stepping out of your comfort zone and rooming with random people that you have never met before. Although you and your friends may be close now, trust me that will all change within the first few months if not less. If you plan on attending the U of A i suggest the quads. They tend to be more expensive, but they are well worth it! easy to keep clean, great RA's and you get to have your own personal space.
Academic Rigor The academics here can be very hard, especially depending on the teachers that you get. Learning how to manage your time efficiently helps to lessen the burden of the tough academic rigor.
Tips for prospective students TIME MANAGEMENT. A Lot of people think that the academics here are hard, which they are. The key here though is to manage your time wisely.
In three sentences The campus here at the U of A is gorgeous. There is always something fun to do and they have a lot of activities to do on campus to get you involved. There is also a lot of interesting things you learn about once you get here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The police have drug and bomb dogs that regularly walk campus. Emergency contact poles are located all around campus. With the area always being partially awake police maintain regular patrols not only on campus but all the immediate surrounding area.
Bang for the buck Compared to most universities the U of A is moderately cheap as far as prices go.
What to do for fun Bowling allies in the area, a sports center with pool and work out areas, clubs covering almost every interest, and the college life to experience.
Food and Dining It's okay going through the school. The food at the places around campus tho are very good and a wide variety of everything.
Dorm Life The campus is a great place to live. Some times it can get loud being built in the middle of the city but, the neighborhood is good and patrolled well.
Academic Rigor It is a very intense learning environment that challenges even those who are used to breezing through. Even with the challenge so many free tutor programs are offered on campus.
Tips for prospective students Show up to all of the classes. Do all of the homework assigned on time. Don't neglect to see the area.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus police are always patrolling, and there are several transportation choices for late at night that help keep campus safe.
Greek Life Greek life is definitely everywhere, but if you're not wanting to get involved with Sororities/Fraternities it's not a big deal. There are plenty of people that aren't a part of Greek life!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus WOO PIG SOOIE!
What to do for fun There is so much to do around Fayetteville. There are parks and trails, Dickson Street, and lots of places to eat. No matter what, you can find something to do.
Food and Dining There are a lot of different choices for food places on and off campus. The meal trades for late night in the Union are really helpful, that way you don't have to always eat at the dining halls. Usually the dining halls have decent food, but it's nothing like home cooked meals.
Dorm Life My experience of dorm life has been pretty great! Depending on who your hall mates are, and how social you are with them will definitely affect how much you like living on campus. Yocum Hall is where it's at!
Academic Rigor Classes can be really easy, or really hard. It depends on your professor, but if you're struggling don't be afraid to ask for help! All of the teachers are willing to help you, even out of class.
Tips for prospective students Starting from day one, get involved. Your experience in college will be what YOU make it. Also, a car on campus is not necessary and if anything, it's a hassle.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas is a great place to be. There is a lot of diversity, and opportunities for everyone. The tradition and sense of community is so amazing to be a part of.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safe ride, Campus PD, and Razorback Transit are just a few of many Campus wide efforts to keep safety and protection a number one priority at the U of A.
Greek Life Greek Life is HUGE on campus. There are so many sororities and fraternities to choose from, you're bound to find the one that suits you!
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs for every type of person on campus, but on the off chance you can't find just what you're looking for, start it up yourself! There are just a few rules and regulations, but they aren't hard to follow at all.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Taking a class in Old Main is a must, but be careful not to step on the Class of 1900 on your way in, it's bad luck. And Spoofer's stone has a rather romantic history of lovers and proposals.
Bang for the buck The U of A sponsors many different events, the majority of which are free. There's always something going down on Dickson Street, just make sure to keep an eye out for it.
What to do for fun Mt. Sequoya and Devil's Den are two fun natural things to do if you're looking to get off campus. Bikes, Blues, and BBQ is a huge event that happens once a year and is definitely something to experience. The Hog Homecoming Parade is an awesome show. Any athletic game! Anything down Dickson Street!!
Food and Dining Food is plentiful here! The Fulbright and Brough dining halls are always safe choices, but there is nothing like a Pomfret cookie. Feeling a little different? Late night (which has Chik fil a, Mexican food, sandwiches and wraps, pizza, and stir fry) and the Hill Grill are awesome alternatives. And then Dickson Street always provides a good amount of outside food sources, like Jimmy Johns or Damgoode Pies.
Dorm Life There is always something fun happening somewhere in the dorms. Everyone is friendly and inviting. It's like a perfect little community.
Academic Rigor The classes can be challenging or they can relatively easy if you know what teachers to look for. It all depends on what you as a student want. Look at the Rate My Professor website. But don't pass up the stricter teachers, sometimes those are the best.
Tips for prospective students Double check the locations of your classes! You don't want to have to run across campus to be on time. Get involved as much as you can! Whether it's an organization or just a fun event, being apart of something will bring you friends, experiences, and memories. Remember what you're here for. School is important. Watch that GPA. You can't have fun if you don't make the grade. There is always something fun and exciting going on, you just have to look!
In three sentences The absolute greatest experience I have ever had. The campus is beautiful, the people are open and friendly, and the on campus activities are always exciting. There is truly no other school that I would choose over the University of Arkansas.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is after hour police escorts and call stations all over campus.
Clubs and Activities You can join a club or even start one and it can be about anything.
What to do for fun The campus and the community has an unlimited array of things to do. On campus, you have exercise rooms, pools, basketball courts, a rock climbing wall, and many other things. There is also a Outdoors Club that goes camping, canoeing, and hiking. The activities are unlimited.
Food and Dining With meal trades on campus, you never have to worry about tiring of cafeteria food. On campus is Chik-fi-la, Burger King, Papa Johns, Subway, and a Starbucks. Off campus has an even bigger selection and a mall within a few miles.
Dorm Life Dorm life is dorm life. It is the same anywhere you go but the RA's actually try to be your friend instead of causing problems.
Academic Rigor All the professors are willing to listen and help but you have to study. It is not like high school where you could look over things and pass the test.
Tips for prospective students If you like city life and can handle of lot of people, the University of Arkansas is the place for you. If interested, be sure to get informed on scholarship opportunities and remember that it is never too early to start looking at a university. If you're worried about size, the transit system is a big bonus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is seen throughout the campus. There are Emergency polls are scattered all over campus. All one has to do is press the button on the poll and an officer will talk to you through an intercom and will come to you to make sure you're safe. There are also police stations on campus, with campus police patrolling during the day and for some of the night.
What to do for fun Some people have Quiditch games, before the football games there is most likely people celebrating somewhere, the Greek Theater holds concerts and plays, the Union Theater shows movies, there are talent shows, and lots more. In other words, one can't say that there isn't something to do on campus because there is ALWAYS something to do on campus. If one wants to get off campus though, they can go down Dickson St., which is right next to campus and has a great selection of places for college students to enjoy the nightlife.
Food and Dining The food is good, and there are definitely options for students to choose from. Just make sure you don't get caught up in the fast food, and remember to actually eat your fruits and vegetables because it helps to keep moving. But UofA has a lot of different options for people to choose from, and with the meal plans you can really get what you pay for.
Dorm Life EXCELLENT! The dorms are kept clean and safe, there is always something going on at the dorms, the RA's are friendly, and there are a plethora of choices for students to pick from.
Academic Rigor Some classes are harder than others, that's for sure. However, all of the material is available in multiple places, and there are numerous places for one to get help: S.I groups, library, professors, upperclassmen, and much more.
Tips for prospective students Go to class, get enough sleep, do your work. Those are the three things that are really hard to balance out with friends and relationships, which is why it's best to not go to college with a significant other with you. However, one of the hardest lessons was learning how to balance out my freedom with my schoolwork and friends. I paid the price around finals, and had to work extra hard to make up for it, but once you learn how to do that then it's smooth sailing.
In three sentences The UofA is a really great place for students to blossom and pursue their dreams. There is help whenever it's needed, the professors are exquisite, and the classes really aren't that hard if you do what you need to do. I would highly recommend younger friends of mine to come to the UofA.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They offer many resources for getting around campus at night. You can call razorback patrol for rides around campus if you need. But on any campus, especially for girls, I would recommend traveling in groups.
Greek Life Greek Life is a big deal hear on the U of A campus. Brother and sisterhood bonds run deep.
Clubs and Activities I am not a part of any organizations, but we have very active clubs. There are a wide variety of choices, so there is something for everyone!
Great for these types of students Students who love meeting people. It is a pretty large campus, and I am continuously meeting new people! There is a stone on campus that couples used to sit on and propose and chip off a piece. We aren't allowed to chip it anymore though.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Quitagge which is the game from Harry Potter. People play it around campus. I think only once a year, maybe more, but students have these zombie war things.
Bang for the buck It is worth every penny you spend. I could not have made a better choice to further my education.
What to do for fun If you are a girl, it is always fun to go with a group of your friends to the frat houses! Each dorm also has different activities every now and then to get involved in. U of A is also within walking distance to Dickson St. which is where all the fun happens!
Food and Dining The cafeterias usually have pretty good food. Late night is available where you can do meal trades at the fast food places in the union. There are plenty of choices!
Dorm Life Great and helpful RAs. The dorm experience can be crazy, but it is worth all the memories.
Academic Rigor U of A is competitive academically, so you are forced to try your hardest.
Tips for prospective students Get ready to do a lot of walking. Tons of hills on campus, but at least we are less susceptible to the freshman 15. Some classes are hard, but the professors are just pushing you to do your best. It is worth the time and effort that you have to put in.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We have incidents like any other campus but there is a police station on campus. The University offers Razorback Patrol and Safe Ride to ensure more safety.
Greek Life IFC, NPC and NPHC are all available to you.
Clubs and Activities There is always something to do.
Great for these types of students Engineering Business Sciences Nursing
Bang for the buck Attending U of A is cheaper than attending colleges and Universities in my home state at the in-state rate.
What to do for fun There is everything to do for fun. Go to Friday Night Live, a Razorback game (for any sport) or any club or organization's activities. There is never a time when you should have absolutely nothing to do (including studying).
Food and Dining There are alot of options on campus including Papa John's, Quiznos, Subway, Burger King and Chick-fil-A. The downside of this is you get tired of eating the food from these places. The actual school cafeterias are pretty good as well. They have their good and bad days but you can always have a salad, pizza or a sub sandwich.
Dorm Life The dorms are awesome. You have so many options as to where you can live. A lot of upperclassmen (including myself) live off campus but the apartment complexes there are very affordable and there is a free bus system for available to you.
Academic Rigor As a chemical engineering major, I would say that the program is VERY rigorous. Their are some rigorous general education courses as well. We utilize ratemyprofessor.com alot as well and the ratings are pretty accurate.
Tips for prospective students This college is not what you see on TV. If you are a high school student and unsure of what you want to major in look into their summer programs. If you come for a tour request to speak with a student besides your tour guide about the major you are interested in. If they don't find one for you find one for yourself on the sidewalk. Many of the students are willing to talk and answer your specific questions.
In three sentences There is a great variety of majors, classes and programs. You have the opportunity to do everything you ever dreamed of in college if you apply yourself. They will help you as long you as willing to help yourself.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are so many things to do for fun around the University of Arkansas Campus. The best thing about college is something is always going on that you can join. There are recreational fields were students play sports or just hang out and there is also a separate set of fields for intramural sports. Many students look forward to game days and showing their Razorback spirit. There is a movie theater, a technology center for those who enjoy video games, and many lounges where students hang out in the Student Union. There are two gym's on campus. One is located in the Student Union and the other is located in the HPER building. The HPER building also has an Olympic sized pool, rock climbing wall, racquetball, basketball, and volleyball courts and even has an outdoor center where you can rent camping and canoeing equipment. There is always something to do on campus.
Food and Dining The University of Arkansas has great food and dining options available on campus. There are three main dining halls on separate parts of campus that provide a breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is nice having three dining halls so the dining halls do not get too congested. The food tastes pretty good and each dining hall has a variety of choices for every meal. Some of the options change daily but there is always a sandwich bar, a salad bar, and a grilled food option. If a student does not want to eat in a dining hall they can go to the Student Union and choose to pay money or spend flex dollars (that come from their student account). The Student Union has a Chick-fil-A, Burger King, Sandwich, Wok, and Pizza restaurant. Around the campus you can also find Subway, Starbucks, Einstein Bagels, and a Hill Grill. The University of Arkansas provides various options for food and dining.
Dorm Life Campus dorm life is great at the University of Arkansas. There are many dorms to choose from all over campus. Most of the dorms are co-ed but there are a couple that are specifically male and female only. There are dorms that have the basic two roommates to a room style but also some dorms are known as suite-style where two people share a bedroom but they also share a living room and a bathroom with another two people. The suite-style dorms feel more like apartments. Living in a dorm on campus is a great experience. Living so close to your classes raises attendance for students. The dorm life creates a sense of community and friendship with everyone and most of your friends will be in your own dorm. People keep their doors open when they are in there and everyone is really friendly and everyone enjoys hanging out with each other.
Academic Rigor The University of Arkansas provides classes that range in academic rigor. Not only are there classes that are there to challenge you every year, the University of Arkansas has a very beneficially rigorous Honors Program that allows your resume to set you apart and increase your job opportunities.
Tips for prospective students The most important thing is to obviously focus on your education. College is a completely different world from high school. It does not matter how well prepared you think you are to begin college, you will have to learn how to adapt to changes very quickly. Establish good relationships with your professors and let them know that their class is important to you. If you have an issue with a class, let the professor know immediately; they are there to help you and they will. The most important thing aside from a strong GPA that will help you throughout college is to be involved as much as possible. When you meet people and establish relationships and participate in things you enjoy, college is much easier. Get to know the people in your classes so that you can help each other out. Friends you make become great motivators that help you make it through to graduation.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas is a wonderful college located on a beautiful campus in the unique town of Fayetteville. The professors make an effort to get to know their students and focus on class discussions instead of only teaching through lectures and are very approachable. The bond developed by Razorback fans share in college is unbreakable at the University of Arkansas.

Great for these types of students Sudents who like to get out and have fun and be challenged in the class room.

Food and Dining I love the food choices at the University. There is the cafeteria and there are other places throughout campus that you can eat. Chick-fil-A, Burger King, Starbucks, Papa Johns Pizza, and even more. You never have to eat at the same place more than once a week if you don't want to.
Dorm Life I live in Walton Hall and I love it! The rooms are nice and the people around me are great. Altough there are some nights where it gets a little loud during the later hours.
Academic Rigor I feel that the teachers most often want to challenge their students and make sure that they are getting the most out of the class. That is if the student is willing to get up and go to class.
Tips for prospective students Visit campus and make sure that you feel comfortable and at home when you are there. Talk to some of the students and teachers while you are there, most of them will answer your questions and give you a feel for how life is as a razorback.

Clubs and Activities Inter-murals are awesome
What to do for fun Once you make friends there will always be something to do. Inter-murals are a great activity as well. Although if you find yourself bored on the weekend, Dickson Street is always the place to be.
Food and Dining The cafeteria food is better than you think. Mix it up every now and again. The local restaurants in Fayetteville are the bees knees. Figure out where each hole-in-the-wall establishment and your dining experience will be more than satisfactory.
Dorm Life Dorm is life decent. I live in Pomfret so we have the luxury of having our own cafeteria. Sharing a 10x10 room with someone takes some getting use to but it's a good experience and I've come to enjoy it.
Academic Rigor Content was definitely harder than high school. I was overwhelmed at first by the pace that each class runs at. Tests are rigorous but definitely achievable with good study habits.
Tips for prospective students As with any college, GO TO CLASS. It becomes a lot harder to wake up for class when it's not mandatory to attend. Time management is also key.
In three sentences Attending the University of Arkansas was one of the better decisions of my life. The campus is spectacular and growing rapidly. Life is great in Fayetteville.

Categories Comments Greek Life Greek Life at the University of Arkansas is big. I would strongly recommend checking it out or at least researching it if you are the slightest bit interested.
What to do for fun I enjoying mostly hanging out with the new friends I've made at school. Weather thats going to the gym or out to eat or to a movie near by.
Food and Dining The cafeterias on campus are great, but my favorite thing about the dining plan is our option to do a meal trade at Chick-fil-a or Burger King or the Wok in the Student Union.
Dorm Life I love my dorm. Our campus also has a great dorm life community. Each floor has its own community and so does the dorm as a whole. This allows you to make more friends and feel more comfortable and at home.
Academic Rigor The courses are not too challenging, but they do require work and dedication if you plan to maintain a high GPA.
Tips for prospective students Dont be afraid to apply to a school that is out of state for you or really far from home. It may seem challenging or scary but it has its own perks as well. So try not to rule out a great school due to location.
In three sentences This College is great for a student looking for a school with long standing traditions. What to do for fun For fun I enjoy going to Devils Den, biking on the trails, hammocking, going to the farmers market and just whatever the city/school has in store. There is always something to do.
Food and Dining Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of the dining scene, I prefer home made food. But it isn't grotesque. I would avoid Brough, you will reek afterwards. Go to the Quads.
Dorm Life I Lived in Maple East and it was alright. I enjoyed not having a community bathroom but everyone kept to themselves mostly. Location wise, I would have chose Yocum or Humphreys.
Academic Rigor Pretty decent. Some classes aren't too bad. Some are ridiculously hard. So I'd say around average.
Tips for prospective students Some tips I would give to prospective students is to be wary that the campus is huge. If you're not used to walking around a lot, especially in a hilly area, I'd keep that in mind.
In three sentences The U of A is amazing, hands down. Fayetteville is gorgeous, the school is welcoming and the people are great. I feel like anyone can fit in easily; it's so diverse.

What to do for fun There is devils den where you can go hiking with all of your friends! There is always fun activities going on around campus for students, like Friday night live where everyone gets together and just has a great time!

Greek Life Greek life at the University of Arkansas is absolutely remarkable! Our Greeks are very involved in the community, host philanthropies, and work with each other to create a better Greek community overall. We have some of the largest recruiting organization in the United States! Go Greek at the YOU of A!
What to do for fun On the hill there is fun for every student just around the corner. The university host game nights and other events through out the semester that are free for all students. Furthermore, for students who are old enough and enjoy the night life, the university is very close to many bars and clubs namely on Dickson Street. There is no limit for having here in Fayetteville.
Food and Dining Food and Dining is absolutely delicious! As I mention above there are several food choices. Additional places are Subway, Starbucks, Chinese Food, and several in dorm cafeterias where the food is remarkable!
Dorm Life Door life here at the University is amazing. So many friendly people from all over the U.S. and even international students as well. Students whom live in the dorms have access to many dining halls and late night food choices like chick-fil-a, burger kings, and Papa Johns pizza to name a few. A great place to get involved and meet live time friends.
Academic Rigor Academic performance is a must here at the You of A. Students engage themselves in academic settings, and excel. Every student is given an opportunity to become high achievers.
Tips for prospective students If you want to be apart of something bigger than yourself, choose the University of Arkansas. Categories Comments Campus Safety I always feel safe on campus, but I realize there have been issues for some. I think it comes down to common sense and making good decisions.
Bang for the buck I make good use of the resources that the university offers to students, and I would advice others to do the same. My personal favorite is the library. I constantly ask for inter-library loans!
What to do for fun There are so many events. The Arkansas Newswire Headlines are sent out daily to students' emails. These include information on events, lectures, and exhibits. I'm a little nerdy, so I appreciate guest speakers.
Food and Dining There are so many options! It would be difficult to be dissatisfied.
Academic Rigor If I have been lucky to take classes with particularly great teachers, then I am certainly grateful. I have yet to take a class I did not enjoy or learn from. I do feel that classes are only as challenging as one makes them. If you seek to dig deeper, professors will certainly help you do so.
Tips for prospective students Communicate with your advisers and teachers. You never know who or what you may find on such a large campus! There are extraordinary opportunities if you take the time to find them.
In three sentences The University of Arkansas seemed intimidating at first, but I have met some of the most compelling people on this campus. Every semester I am met with challenges, and I always discover new surprises on campus. My experience here has allowed me to grow so much as an individual.

Categories Comments What to do for fun The university is located right off of Dickson Street, which is the main hub for entertainment, food, drinks, and anything else you could imagine. There is always something to do on campus as well as directly off of it. If you lived on campus or even close you could walk to all of these activities.
Food and Dining I never lived in a dorm or had to eat food from the dining room.
Dorm Life I never lived on campus or in a dorm.
Academic Rigor Very difficult but you learn a lot and your teachers will push you to do your best. Night classes especially you will develop a great relationship with your classmates and instructor.
Tips for prospective students Utilize the tutoring and SI options given to you, they really do help a lot. Also make sure as soon as you are accepted you apply for a parking permit, they are expensive but they are worth it.
In three sentences Very large, but split up into several smaller colleges based on your major. The tutoring options are wonderful and very helpful. The parking, however, is horrendous.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Visit Old Main and the Greek Theatre.
What to do for fun Go roller blading. See a movie. Go to devil's den. Pick up swing dancing (some new hobby at the HPER)
Food and Dining The food is ok. I understand that it can't be gourmet food, and it's kind dry because of how long it has to stay out under heat lamps.
Dorm Life The dorm's are what anyone would expect of a dorm. Not a resort, but not like living in a motel either. They definitely keep everything clean.
Academic Rigor It's about the same as my high school, but I took all AP classes. There is definitely more homework and more information divided between tests, but it's not too hard.
Tips for prospective students First, get plugged in ASAP, and don't feel bad if you're not in a sorority of fraternity, there are a bunch of other things to do. Second, talk to other students about which classes and teachers to take. Finally, get on top of your HOMEWORK and PRIORITIZE your time.

Dorm Life didn't live in one. Maple Hill is the best.
Academic Rigor Engineering and physics student. Not too much free time, but well worth it
Tips for prospective students if you're not into frats or sororities, it might bother you. The town of Fayetteville is cute and liberal with lots to do. campus is huge so know the bus routes/get ready to pay $$ for parking.

Categories Comments Campus Safety On campus safe ride will pick you up from anywhere IN FAYETTEVILLE and bring you back to anywhere on campus! Police are always on call on campus and there are places for emergency calls all around campus just in case you are walking around by yourself dead at night. It is a party at night, but it has exponentially increased in safety.
Greek Life ALOT! You will be able to find any Greek Life that suits your needs. The Razorbacks have it all!
Clubs and Activities More than enough! And you can petition to start one anytime! All you have to do is make the 1st step to get involved. It is as little as sending an email!!
Great for these types of students the hog wild.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Call those hogs!!
Bang for the buck Calling the hogs and really being part of any of the tradition is well worth being here. It is unlike any experience ever at football games and really any other well-known sport. And even small events all around campus that happen from time to time!
What to do for fun Movie theaters, mini-golfing, bowling, Dickson street, etc.
Food and Dining Food is wonderful on campus! I definitely recommend a meal plan, because you can get food from well-known chains such as Burger King, Chick-fil-a, Pizza Hut, and Quiznos all prepaid for to get anytime with a meal plan! You can only get one from these places PER DAY just so it is known. Lots of places to eat. Rarely a time where the food is not worth it.
Dorm Life Living on campus, you either have to not care about other people goofing off all the time or be tortured the whole time. Be ready for loud music, crazy hallway stunts, and...the screamers...and by that I mean the people that yell our their windows and do alot of hooting and hollering.
Academic Rigor Some teachers can be tough and others don't push as hard. It was alot like how my high school classes were, but not as many hours are spent in a classroom.
Tips for prospective students Apply as early as possible and make good grades in high school to get any scholarship reward. And also, get to know your roommate as much as you can if you are to live on campus. You want to make things work as best as possible. Have fun but don't give all of your money to Dickson Street!!
In three sentences The University of Arkansas is a wonderful campus and full of unique traditions. Being a part of the hogs stays with you for the rest of your life with your name etched into the sidewalk. The teachers are great and usually fair, but every once in awhile you do happen to get that professor who wants you to know every solitary detail and try to trick you on tests, so be aware!

Food and Dining There are several different dining halls to choose from, and you get flex dollars with every meal plan.
Dorm Life Great selection in student housing. Everything's around the same price.
Academic Rigor Just don't fail.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Overall pretty safe; assaults and thefts are rare. Most of the people that get arrested on campus are just people who got drunk in public or underage or smoked a joint. You still shouldn't walk around in the dark yourself though, especially if you're a girl; there have been some attempted rapes lately, all taking place at night. UAPD generally seems on the ball when something does go wrong.
Greek Life I wouldn't know much since I'm not in a fraternity, but they party hard.
Clubs and Activities Plenty to do, though some of the niche clubs have died out. Especially if you're an outdoors type, though, you'll always have stuff to do; the UREC facilities provide rock climbing equipment, boats, camping gear, anything you could possibly want.
Great for these types of students Basically, as long as you're not a math and science student, the University is great. If you are, then it may not cater to your needs very well. If you manage to get past the first 2 years of engineering, you're good to go. I'm also told by all the grad students I've met that it's excellent for anyone seeking education beyond a Bachelor's degree, since it's a research university.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a rock in front of Old Main that used to be a large boulder. Traditionally, men would propose to their girlfriends at the boulder and chip off a piece as a keepsake. However, over the years, the boulder dwindled in size and the University put the rock under protection, since there isn't enough of it left to continue the tradition.
Bang for the buck Pretty cheap (though certainly not the cheapest in state), and they offer many resources. However, some of the money is wasted on things that aren't at all related to academia (for example, a video game lounge).
What to do for fun Anything under the sun - the U of A has AWESOME clubs and all sorts of stuff to do. You'll never be bored.
Food and Dining A little bit on the expensive side, but the options are great, and almost all of the food is quite tasty. They have options for vegetarians/vegans and the health conscious, as well.
Dorm Life Dorms are a terrible place to study. Lots of partying and loud music. Stuff breaks fairly often and takes a while to get fixed, especially in the older ones.
Academic Rigor Depends on the classes. For most of the liberal arts/ core classes I took, I could study an hour or two a week and get all A's. Math and science, you're gonna have to hit the books HARD.
Tips for prospective students If you're from a small school, know that you won't get nearly as much time with your teacher as you used to. Labs can be very unforgiving. However most of the professors are very nice and helpful when they do have the time to interact with you.
In three sentences Not a bad school, but very hard if you're in math/science. Weeding you out is often more important than helping you pass, and you simply can't have much interaction with the teachers in such large classes. Lots to do and many other resources.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never felt unsafe on campus. You can call the golf cart service to take you if you really feel threatened, and Safe Ride, which will take you where you need to be.
Greek Life Greek Life ROCKS here. Seriously love every aspect about it and love that Arkansas is becoming bigger Greek school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Game Day is crazy! The whole town basically shuts down and EVERYONE is tailgating for the game. Plus, we call the Hogs and no other school does that :)
What to do for fun Greek Life has been my main involvment on campus, but off campus and on the weekends I've liked exploring the small cities in the Northwest Arkansas Region and spending my time outdoors. There are so many places to hike, camp, kayak, float, fish, or anything (I recommend Devil's Den). Also there are so many cool cities with cool shops just like 30 minutes north.
Food and Dining The food is good, if you get to the dinning halls at the right hour. They close pretty early for dinner, so once they close you are limited to Late Night at the Union (which is good because it's Chick Fil A and Burger King and other fast food places) and there is also Hill Grill which is just a quick place to get food.
Dorm Life I lived in Reid Hall, the all girls traditional dorm, and absolutely loved it. I got to know so many people around me on multiple floors. The community bathrooms aren't bad, because they get cleaned everyday. The only bad thing about Reid is that it's at the corner of campus so everything is a 10+ minute walk.
Academic Rigor I really think Academic Rigor is really based on your classes. I've heard the Freshman Business classes can be difficult, but also if you're a pre-med major, you're going to have tough classes. They aren't impossible, but you can basically choose how hard they will be based on your major.
Tips for prospective students GO TO THE EARLIEST ORIENTATION POSSIBLE! The early you go, the better the class schedule you will get. Also, get involved because it really does keep you occupied (greek life, student government, CRU).
In three sentences I love the University of Arkansas and everything about the campus. It's not too big, yet not too small. I also love how it's centered in a college town; Fayetteville is centered around the Razorbacks.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The University of Arkansas is the only campus that continues their Senior Walk. With every degree you get from the U of A, you get your name etched in the campus concrete. How awesome is that!
What to do for fun Fayetteville is one of the most diverse places to live in! From mountains to malls, there's something to do for every type of college student. Devil's Den is a popular place to climb, hike, and hammock; there's a bowling alley and mini golf place off of College Avenue. The mall is only 10 minutes down the road, and there's plenty of restaurants around town to try new things!
Food and Dining The food in the dining halls are all-you-can-eat buffets, which automatically means that if you like food, you're in heaven! Also, there are places on campus you can do meal trades every night, but each place does trades on certain nights (Papa John's, Quiznos, Chick-fil-A, etc.). It's nice to have variety and step away from dining halls every once in a while!
Dorm Life The dorm I stayed in was the Northwest Quad. These dorm rooms are extremely nice with LOTS of storage! The closet space is incredible, and the desks are massive! There was lots of space to place books, a printer, lamps, and a laptop. Also, you only share a bathroom with one other person; you have your own sink and counter space though. No community bathroom means no shower shoes! Also, the living room space was nice to relax and watch television after a long day of work and classes.
Academic Rigor I am currently in the College of Engineering; the rigor of the classes all depends on the college. I have found that everything that is labeled II (i.e. Calculus II, Physics II, etc.) requires work...and lots of it! In the end, it's worth the studying and time put into the course, especially because it helps you gain credits towards your degree.
Tips for prospective students Enjoy all of the amazing opportunities the campus has to offer. There are so many clubs and events that it takes effort to not be involved! The organizations and games only help you meet even more people outside of your classes. Also, get to know your professors! They're the ones who will write you recommendation letters and could even potentially find you a job. Knowing your professors just means more connections for your future career!
In three sentences The University of Arkansas is big, but not too big. While the SEC football games make you feel like the campus is huge, everyone at the university is like family. The YOU of A is a beautiful campus with gorgeous scenery, friendly people, and a great education.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety is top tier. There are officers driving the campus as well as walking around making sure things are safe. Also the campus police are located on campus and have implemented dogs that if needed will find what they are trained to get.
Greek Life This is my personal favorite its a great Greek program. Theres many houses that have been here for a long time and have a great institution on campus. One sorority even started here so a good place to check out.
Clubs and Activities There are clubs for everything here. Theres nothing that you are interested in that this school wont offer. If you want to be social theres no stopping you here.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students that like the outdoors. Also for students who want to go into Greek life. Lastly for students who want a good quality education.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Old Main building is the symbol location of our school. Its got some cool stories behind it. Along with the greek theater which is a cool place to study and hang out.
Bang for the buck The amount of money this school is compared to others is great pricing. Along with the quality of education to go along with the money aspect. It is a school with a good economical school budget.
What to do for fun For fun there is a lot of clubs and Greek organizations that are amazing. Also there are a lot of pretty sites and open areas to talk and hang out. Also the Devils Den state park is not far from the campus down the highway a ton of fun outdoors.
Food and Dining The food at the school is great just depends on your meal plan and money. Some places are outside of meal plan but have the typical good food you would find anywhere else. The places that are the major food plans meet are great with good quality food in a range of spectrum of preference.
Dorm Life The dorm life is great some of the dorms are amazing while some aren't as nice as others. In overall atmosphere the dorms are great to meet friends and new people. Just stay on top of classes and be focused when you need to study in the dorms if your not you wont be able to focus.
Academic Rigor The rigor of the classes are tough and sometimes you can get overloaded. This is needed to make you get good study habits and learn the library is your best friend. The professors are there to help but make sure that notes are being taken constantly.
Tips for prospective students Keep on top of the classwork or will become over loaded. Get to know your professors in every class will help when able to get extra credit. Most of all sit in the front of your classes will change your grade a whole letter if you pay attention.
In three sentences I believe the University of Arkansas is amazing. The classes are tough but that is needed. Along with the atmosphere and social climate is the best.
