    Take a tour of the area and some buildings. The academic center is laid out funny, like you can't get to floor two from one side of the building. Also, going to floor three, is a different floor three on the opposite side of the building.

    Apply for scholarships early and as often as possible. Get involved in activities around the school. It will get your name around and allow you to know your surroundings. Be aware of the weather. Just because other schools are closed, UB will surely be open or starting late.
