Categories Comments Tips for prospective students UB is a great school to come to! It will give you a great atmosphere and you will be pleased.
Bang for the buck UB is one of the most inexpensive schools I've seen. and with the tuition being so affordable, they offer alot. They also help you find ways to maintain money, and find money for college.
Am enjoying being here Being at UB, all our sports are intramural. Even with that, UB find other ways to keep you involved with things on campus. We've had block parties, pep rallies, and they make you feel right at home.
Am learning a lot UB has alot to offer. They provide resources, and so many workshops to help and prepare you for your college career!

Categories Comments Campus Safety there's always more then enough officers to assist you with any problems. if anything of importance needs to be told to us we'll get an email. once you start to know the officers, you know you're safe. if you even think your being followed or watched you can always ask someone to walk you to your car and they will.
Greek Life there's many restaurant's.
Clubs and Activities there's to many ways to get involved. from marketing clubs, business, alph beta psi, honors accounting, marketing, ceo clubs, etc. we have it all and if not! take on your leadership skills and start one!
Bang for the buck i love the school! it's more then i envisioned! and everything i hoped for!
What to do for fun once you start to know everybody you know everything that's going on. there's is always some event with either varsity u.b, the student involvement center, the law center or some speaker presenting something. you'll always have something to do, and there's always sports. if you don;t like sports. u.b has pool tournament, madden, video games, basketball tournaments, soccer volleyball etc. so many options!
Food and Dining you can go anywhere in the city for free. best of all is the food places within walking distance. whatever food preferences you have. the city has so many option. from subway, chipotle, sub shops, chinese, sushi, etc. there's everything you could have ever asked for.
Dorm Life there building the traditional apartments and rooms now. u.b has apartments and housing for students but they're not right on campus. that is changing very soon though.
Academic Rigor you have to limit your working time and you education study time. you need to balance everything. at first i thought i didn't have to take the time to study. soon as my accounting tests came. i was in trouble and my 78 wasn't looking to good. my classes are definitely tough but i know i'll be prepared for the professional world when i'm finished! as with life. we need to put the hard work, dedication and sweat into everything we do! rome was not built in a day and nor was our education.
Tips for prospective students this is our time to get involved! it's not who you know, it's who knows you! meet people, enjoy life and be a student! do everything you can on campus! and just have fun.
In three sentences if you want to experience the business atmosphere and you love accounting and finance; university of baltimore is everything you can have asked for or wanted. my accounting teachers not only show a vested interest in my success but they've already become my mentors. i've already met so many firms and professionals that my young professional career has started. the smaller classes, the friendly professors, and the campus where you start to know everyone is amazing!!!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students From my point of view Business and Law students gain valuable learning experiences from the diverse student body at UB.
Tips for prospective students When choosing a school make sure to do due diligence in researching the school and the resources.
Bang for the buck The value of the education is enhanced by the student body and the resource offered by the school.
Am enjoying being here I am gaining a wide range of perspectives just from my classes at UB. I took of a few semesters and attended another University and I returned to UB for the real world perspective.
Am learning a lot I find UB to be a school where learning is interesting and enlightening. Not just because of the teaching but because of the diversity of the students. The different back grounds and cultures bring learning to a different dimension by helping you see things differently and understanding things differently especially in Business courses such as ethical and global issues.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UB police are here and there. In addition to security the school also offers transportation to and from garages, that is for those who do not wish to walk or are simply not comfortable doing so.
Greek Life Wish I could say... I know several who love it down here, but again I am not one. Let's give it a 4/5.
Clubs and Activities The athletic and club opportunities here are great. There's plenty of opportunities to participate in clubs that range from jujitsu to soccer.
Great for these types of students Nearly anyone who has an interest in the programs that are offered.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One of the greatest spots to grab a cup of coffee is the Barnes&Noble@UB. It's a great spot to study, catch up with friends, or even work on a research paper.
Bang for the buck The school is not only decent but it also offers merit scholarships and transfer scholarships to prospective students.
What to do for fun Being down town offers a wide variety to almost every type of person. If you enjoy working out for fun there is a gym on campus. If you like the party life you are right up the street from Power Plant live. If you into art you there are several great attraction just down the street, closer to the inter harbor. If you like the outdoors your just several minutes away from camping, biking, rock climbing and more. The list goes on and on ...
Food and Dining Whether you're looking for something affordable like subway, or maybe something a little more up scale like the Terps sports bar, UB has it. As an even greater bonus, most of these restaurants are within a short and reasonable walking distance from school.
Dorm Life Wish I could tell you more about this. I have friends that love it here, but I commute personally. There are benefits to commuting here as well though. One benefit to commuting is the various types of transportation that is offered. If you drive you can park in several different garages. If you do not drive the metro drops off right next to school at Penn station.
Academic Rigor Academically the school is challenging and fast pace. When taking a full load of classes UB will keep you on your toes. On the other hand the work load is also reasonable, and can allow for extracurricular activities as well.
Tips for prospective students Know what you need prior to applying. If you need transcripts make sure they are official. Have all your required information accounted for and in order. This will make your visit much more enjoyable. If there is a test that you need to take read the description of that test on line before going to take it. There is often a free prep course offered to students who need testing.
In three sentences UB is fun, sporadic, entertaining, and most importantly educational. UB is a great place to learn and grow through the various programs that are offered. There are specialization designed to meet specific needs of those looking to work in particular places.

Categories Comments Campus Safety it's a little scary walking back to your car at 11:00 pm but there's a shuttle available, and campus security does regular patrols.
Great for these types of students great for adult students.
Bang for the buck they're very helpful with financial aid and scholarships.
What to do for fun there are nice bars nearby if you're looking to unwind. if you want something a little more refined, there's the meyerhoff symphony hall and the lyric opera house nearby.
Food and Dining there are lots of great dining options within walking distance of the school. chipotle, subway, starbucks, numerous pizza shops, sushi, everything you could dream of.
Academic Rigor challenging but not overwhelming
In three sentences university of baltimore is a great school not only for those students straight out of high school, but also the adult student returning to school. the ages and experiences of the students vary greatly, ensuring that every course you take has a myriad of new opinions. great instrutors!

Categories Comments Greek Life There is no greek life at UB but student government and staff understand the importance it is to their students. There has been many forums and discussions about hosting chapters on campus. We just hope that the best choices are made for the students and the university.
Bang for the buck Fairly reasonable in tuition, cheaper than other campuses close by. As of today 04/19/12 tuition is about 4,000 per semester.
What to do for fun By UB being in midtown Baltimore as a student you have access to museums, independent films and play productions.
Food and Dining I huge variety of choices. Indian, Japanese, American and Indonesia.
Dorm Life UB most recently took on the project of dorm life with their new housing called VARSITY. Its sophisticated, modern and chic.
Academic Rigor I wouldn't call the academics at UB rigor, I would say that its passionate. The staff and faculty here value education and betterment for the students. The good thing about it is that professors are teaching in their professions, so as a student you have first hand knowledge.
Tips for prospective students Review all of your options when applying for college. Take into consideration the entire cost and what you plan to study. Understand that there maybe a school cheaper that provides what you want to study.
In three sentences UB is centrally located in Baltimore, MD. No longer a graduate school taking on the adjustment of incoming freshman had gave UB a great opportunity to provide education to everyone of all walks of life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are campus police around the area and each have the full authority of a city police officer, so it should be pretty safe during anytime of day.

Bang for the buck The tuition is pretty low compared to other colleges and the education you'd receive is above and beyond.
Food and Dining Awesome.
Dorm Life There is no real dorm life, but you can rent out an apartment in one of the many apartment buildings the campus owns.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Our campus is one of the safest in the city. It is located in Downtown Baltimore where there are always a lot of people and so much action.
Greek Life There is little to no Greek presence on campus.
Clubs and Activities There are numerous clubs and organizations to join. We do not have any major college sports other than intramurals.
Great for these types of students Great for older students and non-traditional students. Not the type of social environment an 18 year old may want.
Bang for the buck The tuition is definitely more expensive than some of the local schools but it is on the same level as school whose tuition is twice the cost.
What to do for fun I like to spend time in the gym racquetball room or in the quad. There is always some type of fun event on campus too.
Food and Dining We do not have a dining hall. The convenience store and Starbucks are expensive. There are many options in the area for restaurants and food.
Dorm Life The dorm is being built now.
Academic Rigor Academically, the university is good. The challenge depends on the major of course. The professors I've had do not give a ton of work but there is a lot of weight on each assignment.
Tips for prospective students Find a really good advisor and keep them close. Advisors do not stay in the same position long, at least in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program.
In three sentences University of Baltimore has a diverse student population. It offers intense study in Forensics, Law, and Business. The business school is a rising star.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UB is great for students who want to start their own business. UB's law program is one the best in the country. If you want to be in the creative business world like, Marketing, Interactive Design, Advertsing, Public Relations then this school is great for that.
What to do for fun Live music venues, bars, nightclubs, The Baltimore Aquarium, The Inner Harbor just to name a few.
Food and Dining There is a lot of bars and restaurants near UB, It won't be hard finding somewhere to eat.
Dorm Life UB just opened there first apartment building called The Varsity. Before UB had relationships with many of the apartment complexes nearby and they found housing for the students.
Tips for prospective students Building relationships with you professors will not be hard because the professors at UB actually take the time to reach out their students. So when they do take advantage of that opportunity to ask questions.
In three sentences It is a nice campus in the heart of downtown Baltimore. Everyone that attends the school has a sense of creativity and are hard workers. The campus life is not great but there is so much to do outside campus since the school in the city.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The University of Baltimore has the BEST safety team I've ever seen. Patrol cars are usually parked on certain corners of the campus. If you sign up for campus text alerts, you receive free notifications every time a crime is committed in the surrounding neighborhoods and on campus. There are campus patrol officers who regularly check the buildings every hour or two. If ever you are afraid to walk alone to your apartment, the police officer is willing to walk with you for free. UB is one of the most safest campuses in the U.S.
Clubs and Activities The best part, in my opinion, is the different clubs and organizations on campus. Every one is so inviting and friendly. These clubs vary from religious groups, major-based groups or other things that people have in common. If there's not a group on campus that you're interested in, you can also create one.
Bang for the buck The University of Baltimore is fairly cheap for the tuition and fees. The tuition includes things that most universities don't offer. Take advantage of the writing center which helps edit your paper or take advantage of the free tutors who are more than willing to meet with you. UB also has a great library for students to engage in books, eBooks or DVDs. I would only suggest a meal plan in the fees.
What to do for fun Let's See! If you're looking for extreme fun, it's best to find some friends who have off-campus housing or reside in a campus apartment partnered with the school. I recommend you attend the social events at UB. Some of them are entirely free and some have small fees ($2-$5).
Food and Dining The best part of UB's social aspect is also a pro and a con. There are tons of food diners surrounding the university. The con is that these food diners take your money. It's hard to save surrounded by such delicious eateries. I recommend you stay away from eating out every day unless you have the money. It will leave a large hole in your pocket.
Dorm Life Dorm life at the University of Baltimore is different. UB is a city-life school - in the heart of Downtown Baltimore. The school partners with apartment complexes in the area for affordable living arrangements to accompany student's needs.
Academic Rigor The work at UB is very challenging if you are not used to heavy work loads. Personally, UB's not ivy-league challenging but the work requires attentive students willing to come to class prepared.
Tips for prospective students If you are suggesting UB as your college choice, make the move! The University of Baltimore is a small intimate university that helps students adjust to college life. UB offers free tutoring, rigorous courses and great social events.
In three sentences The University of Baltimore (UB) is very diverse, intellectual and rewarding. On a scale of one through ten, UB is a outstanding ten. UB is a wonderful bridge in transforming students into better citizens of the United States.

Academic Rigor Professors at the University of Baltimore challenge students to do their best and help them gain a broader perspectives of the world. They also provide advice, suggestions, and guidance for students to enable them to succeed.
Tips for prospective students Students who are attending this school or are planning on attending this school should take advantage of tutoring as the staff is very helpful. Also, joining a club is a great way to be involved and become a part of the community.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Is very good. There are a few incidents that happen near the campus but not usually during most school hours.
Greek Life Is non-existent unless it is for academic purposes. No social Greeks.
Clubs and Activities There are lots of clubs and activities around campus. the student life organization will help you get to know many people as well as the other organizations. If you are interested in a particular subject there is probably a club and if not you can start one!
Great for these types of students Great for the non-traditional student and those who work full-time. Many options available such as night classes and online.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus This is not a traditional school as far as housing goes. although starting in fall 12 there will be on campus housing available.
Bang for the buck UB is a very affordable school. We also have great alumni in the Baltimore area.
Food and Dining This area has many different types of restaurants within walking distance. there is also a great food delivery service in the area.
Dorm Life New this Fall 12 Dorms! these are new for everyone, but they are limited. Get here early if you want a spot. However they do have a housing assistance department that will help in the search for housing close to the school.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is exceptional at this school. Sometimes I find it more than I can handle. The professors are very knowledgeable about their specific subjects. They know it and are usually able to get the message across. just do not come looking for a high school teacher you will not get that here.

Great for these types of students Commuter and nontraditional students.

Bang for the buck The school offers good scholarships.
What to do for fun Attend events in the city and Mt. Vernon.
Food and Dining While the food on campus is extremely limited, there are several places along the streets of Mt. Vernon that offer fabulous food.
Dorm Life There are no current dorms.
Academic Rigor There is a lot of reading and projects. The professors are extremely knowledgeable too.
Tips for prospective students A great place for someone looking for small classes and who isn't concerned with parties on campus. There are plenty of local restaurants and bars for events though.
In three sentences I really like the small class size and the faculty have knowledge and experiences outside of the classroom. The campus life still needs to be improved because it is lacking and very limited. Becoming involved in the community is a great possibility for getting involved.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is one of the top priorities here at UB. There is a shuttle to take students from classes to their parking place or to their home if near by. If you feel threatened you can file a report anonymously so that your identity is safe. A security guard will walk you to your car or home if you would like. Also, there is a way to link your texting on your phone to the University for updates of crimes near the University.
Greek Life The food around the campus is domestic and exotic in the way that the cuisine ventures out to all customers. If you want a little of Italy or Greece, or even Asian, Midtown has it all here!
Clubs and Activities All clubs invite men and women to play in vigorous competitions. The activities here are great, and engage in healthy topics such as yoga activities. That will apply to any student that is stressed out.
Great for these types of students If you are a student who loves literature, the literature program here is great. There is a new magazine that allows aspiring authors to put their knowledge and bits of their writings on the magazine and people to view it. So, it will benefit that writer for getting his or her name out.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I haven't been here long and this may be biased in the way it is applied towards me, but unusual locations on campus are hanging in the student center's old cafe area. Just because it isn't working for food, the students here have used it for hanging out with friends and other students.
Bang for the buck If you are low on cash, see if you are eligible for work study. I am a current work study student and I work in the admissions office. It is a great and stress free environment. People here are extremely friendly and are always there to help you out. Plus, working here allows you to be close to the people who run the school. In the admissions office are the transcript evaluators, so if you have a problem with your transcript you can come here. Also, there are transfer and freshmen counselors and financial aid office is here too. I personally take advantage and seek help from the people within this office.
What to do for fun There is always something to do at UB. Whether it be events, harbor events, concerts, art galleries, parties, and such, UB is in the center of it all!! Come and explore is my saying.
Food and Dining There isn't a food plan at UB, but you can sign one up with MICA if you really want, though if living near campus there are plenty of food places to try. Also, in the Varsity you will have your own kitchen.
Dorm Life UB isn't like other universities in which the campus is an evolved campus. It is in the middle of other businesses and housing options such as apartments. UB offers housing to the local apartments and the new UB VARSITY dorms, which are luxarious and look just like an apartment!
Academic Rigor I say this because it depends on how each student feels about school work and load. A full time student can take at the min of 12 credits without being exempt from their financial aid. So, if you feel a five course, or 15 credit semester is too much, take off a class and get more engaged in the other classes.
Tips for prospective students Apply for scholarships early and as often as possible. Get involved in activities around the school. It will get your name around and allow you to know your surroundings. Be aware of the weather. Just because other schools are closed, UB will surely be open or starting late.
In three sentences University of Baltimore is in the middle of the City that allows for students to engage in the community surrounding the school. UB always has events that allow for all students to engage in. UB makes their students feel welcomed from the Admissions office all the way to each professor.

Categories Comments Food and Dining There are plenty of food places around campus within walking distance. Some take campus cash that can be purchased at the school or converted from the bookstore credit.
Academic Rigor Some of the teachers are great, but most just teach from the slides given from the book. The student is left to guess what will be on exams. So teachers are so old that they cannot stay on task.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that this school is best suited for you because in my experience, the student is left alone to fend for themselves. Research the degree that you are pursuing in detail and keep accurate notes.
In three sentences This school is great for working parents/adults. The online classes are wonderful. They are not for the accounting students that are not on honor roll.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs at UB and if they don't have what you're looking for it's really easy to make your own club. They also have intramural sports ranging from soccer to paintball.
What to do for fun UB is close to EVERYTHING. The inner harbor isn't far and in the past there have been free nights at the aquarium for UB students. Plus there's the orioles stadium and multiple bars and pubs.
Food and Dining Anything you could possibly want to eat is right there within a few blocks tops. There are three Starbucks in the area as well as a Chipotle, sushi, vegan, chinese, ethiopian...pretty much everything.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities There's a club for anything.
Great for these types of students Anyone. The university is very diverse in race and age.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus UB does block party every semester. Block party blocks off the streets so the students can party. It's not uncommon to find laser tag, zip lines, and a rock climbing wall during this event.
What to do for fun There's plenty of restaurants and bars to check out in the area. There's also events in the city almost every weekend.
Food and Dining You can have whatever you want, from Afghan, Ethiopian, Italian, Japanese and there's even a few hipster places and interesting bars all within a mile of the school.
Dorm Life Not a typical dorm. There are no RA's in the dorms. There are apartments nearby also.
Academic Rigor Challenging if you don't do the work. If you do all your assigned tasks, the courses are very rewarding.
Tips for prospective students Take a tour of the area and some buildings. The academic center is laid out funny, like you can't get to floor two from one side of the building. Also, going to floor three, is a different floor three on the opposite side of the building.
In three sentences UB is an inexpensive university with a diverse student body located in the center of the city. UB offers a variety of courses online, allowing full-time employees to attend school on their time. UB is also going green! (Check out the new law building!)

What to do for fun UB host multiple social events for students and faculty, around 4 a month.
Food and Dining Multiple places to dine while on campus at affordable prices, and for date nights the perfect place is Turps bar and grill.
Dorm Life Unfortunately UB does not have any dorms, but they do offer multiple housing options.
In three sentences If you are looking for a mid-range campus to make lots of friends then UB is the right place for you. Classes are designed to have students interact while also being responsible for their own work.
