Around Town

Go to the beach, downtown santa Barbara and hiking on the santa Barbara mountains.

Santa Barbara is definitely not lacking in fun. Even if partying isn't your scene, there is still a ton to do. I enjoyed kayaking, learning to surf, going on hikes to beautiful waterfalls, participating in great on campus events, and the list goes on. There is an abundance to do, all within 15 minutes of the campus. As for the partying, the reputation lives on.

You can go to downtown State Street and walk down to the Wharf, or walk around Isla Vista and enjoy some of the local culture and food.

There really is never-ending amounts of activities on and near campus. The university provides plenty of sports and trips for students. Being located right on the beach allows for both relaxation or beach-sports at any time you want (before, between, or after class.) There is plenty of open space for bike rides or walks, a couple recreation centers and sports fields, and groups designed for water sports, yoga, pilates, etc. Even if those don't interest you, there are plenty of parks, coffee shops, and other food places to hang out at.

We have the beach a walk away, the mountains a small drive away, and downtown Santa Barbara 20 mins away. There's always something that can be done. But for the most part, people will partake in drinking activities in their homes in Isla Vista.

Go to the beach or down town Santa Barbara, party in Isla Vista, attend a school sponsored function, go for a bike ride, grab a bite to eat at some bomb food joints.

There are so many things to do for fun at UCSB. On campus events: spoken word, outdoor movies, organization events, music event, etc. Off campus: free yoga, hiking, biking, bars, parties, movies very nearby.

Clubs, parties, hanging out with friends, events on campus and in the dorms. There's lots to do.

Go to the beach, get a tan, read a book in the library, go take a dance class at the rec center, ride your bike with the other thousands of students who do the same... the possibilities seems endless!
