Because UCSB is located on a beach, the beach is obviously one of the biggest attractions it offers. UCSB not only has many viewpoints to watch the oceans and the sunset, but also has it's very own marine aquarium that students can check out for free! Furthermore, UCSB's campus is next to the Isla Vista community in which many restaurants and shops are located for the students' leisure.

If you are an outdoors person hiking or going for a run in Santa Barbara is amazing. Having the ocean right by UCSB is also a plus for going for a job or simply sitting on the sand to read a book.

THE BEACH (obviously). There's also the really cute downtown Santa Barbara which is your typically tourist-y beach town. Also about half an hour north is a small Danish town called Solvang and an ostrich farm!

Isla Vista is right next to campus so all the big parties are just a few blocks away from the dorms. If you are not into the party scene, there are various clubs that allow you to meet people very quickly and greek life on campus is 1/4 of the student population and I encourage you to join something while you are here.

Party in IV but if you're not a big party-goer, there are always alternative events put on by the RAs in each dorm that you can go to which are pretty fun with free food. Explore Santa Barbara since UCSB really isn't in Santa Barbara but in a town called Goleta. There are tons to do downtown like shopping, museums, music venues, and the movies. And there is always the beach!

Hit the beach and surf, or check out Downtown! I'd stay away from DP (del Playa) for a while, as things there can get crazy.

Party, and party, an pah- pah- pah party, study hard, getting interactive with my classmates in fun debates, co-ed intramural sports, inter-ethnic facilities for everyone, and best of all every type of organization you can think off ranging from LGBTQ, to sisterhoods, and more.

There are many things to do for fun. Of course UCSB is known for their parties, so of course weekend nights you can find yourself on the college town known as Isla Vista where you will find a lot of college students having fun at parties. But there is more to just parties, we have the beach, so why not go for a swim, hang out with some friends or simply go for a walk. There are also volleyball courts and soccer fields and many other sports, usually on weekends or nice sunny afternoons there are always students out playing sports and don't be afraid to join in. We also have the mountains about 15 minutes away from campus. There are many trails and waterfalls during the spring which makes it fun to go hiking. Downtown Santa Barbara is also about 25 minutes away and there is a bus that takes you directly there and back to campus. The famous State St. in downtown is filled with shops where you can go shopping, or for a nice dinner and at the end of State St. you have the Pier. There are also excursion clubs that are free to go see new fun and exciting places. There are tons of stuff to do at UCSB and its surroundings.

When all else fails, have a night out in IV. We're known as the #2 Party School in the U.S. for a reason. There's always a car ride out to downtown Santa Barbara and visit State Street, which has a bunch of restaurants and nice stores. We do live on the beach, so a day out on the beach is always an option. Your possibilities are endless in Santa Barbara.
