Categories Comments Great for these types of students Warrensburg is a smaller university town. Does have a wal-mart, a few shopping stores, and movie theatre. I always see a friendly face at least once a day.
Tips for prospective students Go to the UCM site and use the tuition calculator. It gives you a good estimate of cost at UCM, you can even type in scholarship amounts and it will subtract that from your cost. Talk with your professors. Exchange phone number or email with someone in all your classes in case you miss a day or have questions.
Bang for the buck With commuting, I save a lot of money, so I wouldn't be much help with dorm prices. It's still expensive, but cheaper than your bigger university's.
Am enjoying being here I commute so I don't attend all campus activities. Most of the class sizes are less than 30. You get a lot of interaction time with your professor and most will call you by your name.
Am learning a lot I can honestly say I learned a lot my first semester of my freshman year. All the professors I had did a good job at teaching except for the exception of one. Most of the professors will throw in a joke, or try to at least, once in a while. The professors within my major are very supportive and always there when you need to talk to them!

Greek Life Greek life is very big on campus. There are many sorority and fraternity complexes around campus. They also host many events throughout the year.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs and activities that are offered year round. You have Greek organizations and more other groups that will fit your personality.
Great for these types of students UCM is great for every school for all students including traditional, non-traditional, and international.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I have two children. So there are two day cares on campus available for students with children trying to continue their education.
Bang for the buck Its a very affordable school with many great job and school opportunities available to you.
What to do for fun I like to attend football, basketball, and volleyball games. I also use to recreation center to exercise.
Food and Dining Food and dining is the best at UCM!. All of the chefs put love into their cooking to provide the best dining experience ever.
Dorm Life Dorm life allows you to meet new friends and to be more involved on campus.
Academic Rigor UCM works very closely with the students making sure that we keep our grades and GPA up. There are many academic tutoring programs free to students in every subject available.
Tips for prospective students 1. Fill out your fafsa early 2. Register for classes early. 3. Be on time and prepared for each class every semester.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -small town kids - don't have a lot of money, rather cheap school - people willing to make NEW friends - also fantastic Greek Life
Tips for prospective students UCM can be a good school but you need to know that it is a small town. Not a lot to do here.
Bang for the buck UCM is really old. As far as housing and such all the dorms are old, and not very easily kept by the cleaning staff. The cost of attendance currently is around 16,000+ and you are paying for a new workout centre and it isn't something the average student, basically UCM is not about the students, it is about appearance.
Am enjoying being here Said to be a party school, but not really it is just a rather small college town. Close to KC, Mo so you are close to great concerts, art, and shopping.
Am learning a lot I learned a lot in MY major. But as a freshman I felt that a lot of the staff in the science department was not helpful and not very knowledgeable at all. However I did actually do well in a math class; I had the best math teacher I have ever had.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Take time to walk about the campus and just take it all in. It's nice to just walk around the campus on a nice day.
Bang for the buck This past summer about 3 different residence halls got ALL new furniture, including: xl beds and mattresses, desks, and chairs. The lofts that you can rent are really nice and easy to set up. The school plans on re-furnishing the rest of the residence halls in the next few years since the cost is high to re-furnish. The largest residence hall, the one I currently reside in, also just received a new alarm system that can detect almost anything to alert the residences. And the dining hall food isn't too shabby also. And the new fitness center is huge and has a lot more available than the current Multipurpose Building and it's soon to open.
Am enjoying being here I love being on this campus. It's a quick and easy walk from place to place and nothing is really that far from where ever you are. The sporting events are a blast! And the teams are really good. I also love the Greek system. I have had many good experiences here so far.
Am learning a lot In the classes that would help me in my major I learn a lot, but the classes that have nothing to do with the major don't really help that much. In most of my classes I have TONS of notes of stuff that I've learned and in those classes I learn a lot.

Tips for prospective students transfer and transition services are extremely help full at UCM and will tell you exactly what classes you should take at the junior college if you attend one before you transfer so you don't waste money the sooner you contact them the better off you will be
Bang for the buck One of the cheapest schools in missouri and the country for that matter yet they have great job placement
Will enjoy being here Haven't been there long but they have lots of clubs and all the people are friendly and its just a wonderful environment
Will learn a lot Good teachers and small class sizes

Categories Comments Campus Safety the entire campus feels like a community. the feeling of safety and peace dominates. there is also the safe team patrols that roam the campus, just in case something happens or a student does not want to walk back to their in the dorm at night.
Clubs and Activities there are many opportunities to join intramural teams, bands, extracurricular groups, and the like. the only reason one isn't in a group is because they don't want to be.
Bang for the buck classes, food, and on-campus living is very affordable and offer a great deal. there probably isn't a better deal in the state.
What to do for fun there are a lot of options of how to spend on'es free time. you could go to the gym with friends, go bowling in the union, or go to a coffee shop to study or hang out.
Food and Dining the food is great compared to campus dining at other schools. at every meal you get at least four or five options, and they have great classic food such as pizza and burgers.
Dorm Life great place to live. the dorms are nice and newly refurbished. campus housing here is very convenient and it takes less than 10 minutes to walk anywhere on campus.
Academic Rigor it has challenged me, yet i feel like, if you work hard, you can do really well here.
Tips for prospective students i recommend to work hard in high school and prepare for college. the teachers here will challenge you, but also help you along with your studies, and possibly after your graduation.
In three sentences it is a great place to live and to study. i have met lifelong friends here after only one semester. i could not imagine a better school for me.

Categories Comments What to do for fun UCM is in a small town, so there's the basic activities that any town can provide. For those who are over 21, there's always Pine Street with all the bars, but for those under 21 there's a movie theater, and of course the many late-night Walmart trips. On campus there's a bowling alley open daily, lots of activities put on by student organizations, and there's always awesome movies playing in the Student Union for free with the comfiest recliners you've experienced in your life. My friends and I would usually grab people on our floor to watch a movie and have our own little theme nights to keep ourselves entertained for free. There's always something to do!
Food and Dining Just like in any other campus, there are good food options and bad food options. There's always a salad bar and a sandwich station and of course you have to have your pizza. The Student Union offers you a selection of fast food options as well. It's easy to eat healthily, but of course it's easy not to as well. I definitely enjoy late night which offers anything from waffles to funnel cake fries, my personal favorite. There's never a day that I've gone hungry.
Dorm Life Dorm life can definitely make or break your college experience. My personal dorm experience has been within a ship with people with similar majors to my own. The dorms have nice furniture, clean bathrooms, and a safe and clean environment for academic studies. Choosing a ship was the best choice for me because everyone shares similar interests, but dorms with a mixture of majors brings together a crazy mix of people for you to hang with.
Academic Rigor UCM provides an academic setting that challenges you in ways that will help you succeed in the outside world. While of course there are the basic general education classes that everyone has to sit through, the classes more specific to your major/minor are the real reason to come to this school. Because the class sizes are smaller, the teachers get to know their students and know just how to challenge you in ways that help you grow rather than sitting mindlessly through dull classes.
Tips for prospective students Definitely get to know your teachers on a more personal level. They will be more willing and flexible about any difficulties you have with assignments. All of your extra effort never goes unnoticed. You will find the most generous and down to earth faculty right here in Warrensburg.
In three sentences UCM is the best of both worlds. You get the small town feel and the feeling of a big campus all at once. The people are friendly, the classes and teachers are personal, and everyone is always more than willing to help.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I think this would be a great college for students from rural communities and just about any type of student.
Tips for prospective students I would strongly suggest any high school students attending any college to develop good study skills. I would also recommend becoming involved any way you can.
Bang for the buck I believe it is worth to pursue a degree here because the professors are great and it is a very supportive campus.
Am enjoying being here There are many activities and organizations on campus that you can become involved with. I strongly recommend becoming involved on campus because it is very fun and exciting.
Am learning a lot I have learned a lot of new things during my freshman year. Most of the professors are very good at teaching and are willing to help you if you have questions.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone from small hometowns or trying to get away from home without going to far. As well as anyone who can get passionate about their school.
Tips for prospective students UCM has a college costs calculator. FIND SCHOLARSHIPS SOON AND APPLY TO ALL. If you need help, call or email them; they are quick to respond and will help you until you are satisfied.
Bang for the buck College is expensive. There's nothing new about that. UCM balances a good college with small classes and lower prices than plenty of Missouri Universities.
Will enjoy being here The entire campus is beautiful and there are friendly faces willing to help everywhere you look.
Will learn a lot Several times I have scheduled college visits here. Everytime I found out exactly what I needed to learn for my upcoming year.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any students will have fun here, it is an extremely diverse college with something for everybody, if you are wanting to be a teacher then you should definitely come here because we are the top education school in the state. We also have one of the best nursing programs and top aviation program but even if you are not one of those majors you will still find your academic program here will shine bright because UCM is one of the best in the nation.
Tips for prospective students Attend all classes, join a group or especially the Roaring Red student booster club and go on the IMPACT Student Leadership Retreat. Don't be afraid to go to Spotlight Event, they provide free stuff to do on campus when you are not studying. Have fun and enjoy your first year!!
Bang for the buck I am getting my moneys worth with UCM, to make sure you get that worth, go to class, there is no excuse for skipping and you will want to be at every class because the faculty here have so much information to share, some of the top minds in there field teach here at UCM and you will want your moneys worth with these professors.
Am enjoying being here I have made a ton of new friends, what has helped is I put myself out there and I attended an incoming freshmen leadership retreat before school started called IMPACT, and then I got active and joined a fraternity and a student organization that promotes my major and is all about getting us all ready for the future and learning together.
Am learning a lot I am studying music education here and the faculty are amazing about making sure the information gets across to you. Some will even take a week of from class to do one on one appointments with you to see how things are going, not just the music faculty, faculty across campus do this to see you are getting the education you are paying for.

Categories Comments Campus Safety People are nice in Warrensburg but once per a semester, you sometimes receive an email about shooting accident from Public Safety and county. I won't say it is safe to walk around at night on campus but if you keep in mind what you need to know for your safe, it will be okay. You can find the poll which has button to call to Public safety for emergency as well on campus.
Clubs and Activities Go to www.ucmo.edu and click student life bar, you will find numerous clubs and activities you can sign up for the fun semester! I also recommend you to looking for scholar student organization related to your major. UCM has a big pride on College DECA, too.
Great for these types of students UCM is great school for international school or U.S students who are not affordable for the college in big cities. International Center in UCM has various events and helping services for worldnational students and they are willing to communicate with all students. If you consider transferring to U.S I strongly recommend to enroll here. Here is the place you might be looking for
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I bet you've heard about Dale Carnegie. Here is where he learned and graduate. We have many good out class programs to enrich students' campus life. UCM is in a small city, an hour far from Kansas city by driving. Every weekend, you don't have problems to go shopping or find International grocery market, there. MCI which is the nearest airport from UCM is located in a little more than an hour distance. You will enjoy the beautiful nature scene and stars at night you've never seen.
Bang for the buck I was surprised that UCM has so awesome faculties who are willing to help each student and communicate fully. You will be offered so many opportunities as long as you are not hesitate to find your competitiveness at varied affairs and forum every weekdays after classes are done.
What to do for fun One of my favorite here is beautiful scene and weather so they have lots of events outside you can join such as camping, football games, and running. If you are not a big fan of outdoor activiry you might want to go bowling, wii rooms or borrowing dvds at Elliot Union. You can also watch movies at the nice theater room for free on every weekend!
Food and Dining You can sign up for the semester and it costs about $1,020. They might be changed for a new semester, you might want to ask again. The food is delicious and buffet style. They are run by Sodexo coporate. People working in dining hall is nice and good to be friends!
Dorm Life I lived in Dorm for a year and it was so fun time with my friends. UCM has about 6-7 dormitory building and it costs around $2,000 for the semester but a couple of them might have a cheaper price. Every building is clean and safe and each floor has a lobby that you can hangout with friends. Some building are specialized for certain majors so you would like to be involved in and connected with same major people for lots of info and knowledge.
Academic Rigor They require you the basic but the most important efforts for your learning. Each professor has different rules in the class but no problem if you pay attention in the first class and keep in mind the syllabi.
Tips for prospective students I would say think about what kind of job you want to do before just starting the first freshman semester because that makes a huge difference with time, money and path you will go through for your future. Once you have a blueprint, UCM will offer you for the best choice.
In three sentences 1. High quality of classes and faculties 2. Reasonable tuition fee and lots of chances to get a job on campus 3. Beautiful nature scene.

Categories Comments Campus Safety is terrible...the campus is poorly lit, safety team does not respond fast enough, there enough safety poles, and some guy is going around beating people from behind and taking there stuff
Greek Life no comment...what i have to say is to much to type.
Great for these types of students people who just need to get there degree quick and easy without having to go to a big university should come here, it is a big community college with terrible dorms.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus yeater hall is haunted and they give tours once a year, sometimes twice, i dont recommend them though because people come out bleeding.
Bang for the buck no this school is not worth any bucks
What to do for fun there is nothing productive to do, everyone is always drunk or high to deal with the depression of being at this school.
Food and Dining todd hall is disguisting. they have roaches and nats everywhere, they bought an expensive machine that is always broke, the food is the same everyday for every meal the only decent thing is the salads. Ellis hall is so much better the food has flavor, it is clean, the workers are nicer, it is just overall better.
Dorm Life The dorms are overpriced, over crowded, dirty, old, falling apart, the air conditioning systems are terrible and they are to far from the academic buildings, the students are loud, they smoke and drink on the floors, people get wrote up for unnecessary reasons, the c.a.s are rude and do not do there jobs, the equipment on the ground floors are all broken, the floors in the rooms all have stains and need to be redone, overall we are paying about 7 thousand a year for something that is not even worth 2, it is easier and cheaper to get an apartment but if you break your agreement you have to pay half anyways so we are all stuck here.
Academic Rigor there is no inbetween on the teachers you either love them or hate them. Alot of them make things really difficult that should not be difficult while others are very east to work with.
Tips for prospective students Do not go to parties they are dangerous, do not walk around by yourself at night it is dangerous, study harder than what you normally would or think you need to , suck up to teachers, do not stay in yeater or houts/hosey hall and do more research before you come to the school because they do not tell everything at the campus tours that should be told.
In three sentences i rate the school the 2.5 out of 10. It is a big drama filled community college. The faculty pick favorites, and most of the time wonder off in the lesson and do not accomplish what is supposed to done by the end of the day. financial aid is terrible, and does not have enough money, this school makes me want to give up if every other college is like this.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a very little chance if getting mugged or robbed on campus.
Greek Life There is many activities that take place in greek life from parties, to fundraisers.
Clubs and Activities There is a lot of bars and no clubs in Warrensburg.
Great for these types of students UCM is good for athletes and academically driven students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The most popular placeson campus are the student rec, where every student and staff member works out and, the multi purpose building, this where all the basketball games and volleyball games are played by the school teams. Elliot Union is where most students tend to spend most of their day sitting and chatting with friends.
Bang for the buck Generally the school is good if your main focus is to be academically succesful, because it located in a small town and there is barely much activities out of the campus, and when school closes everyone goes home and it becomes a ghost town.
What to do for fun There is intramural sports every semester, that means spring and fall. There are local volunteering organizations that need help. There is a lot of student organizations to get involved in too! Also there is a movie theater
Food and Dining The cafeteria food is mass cooked food which tends to be dry and has minimal flavor and is either too greasy, over cooked or tasteless. The only thing that most people like is the pizza, the salad bar, and the sandwich spot.
Dorm Life The dorms are good, safe, and sound. But if your intentions are to save money then moving off-campus might be a better option. Most of them have a big room and four people share one bathroom. There is CA for every floor.
Academic Rigor The Professors in my major department are very good at their job. And do their best to ensure that their students understand the material being taught to them.
Tips for prospective students Maintain a good academic, get as much help from professors as possible Make new links through classmates, and get an internship before graduating.
In three sentences It is in a good location/college town. It encourages students to aim high. UCM has high graduate employment rates.

Categories Comments Greek Life there are tons of opportunities to join greek life. we are very involved on campus and helping the community.
What to do for fun go to the student recreation center or multi-center. there is bowling in the union and new places for coffee and snacks as well.
Food and Dining depending on the day, the food is good. it gets old eating the same basic meals in the dining halls.
Tips for prospective students live in the dorms for the first year, it will make everything easier since its the your first year. take a look at where your classes are before the first day of class, there are always those students (even upperclassmen) that don't know where they are going.
In three sentences the university of central missouri has a great education program, but is lacking in the pre-med, pre-dental, pre-etc.. programs. the academic advisors are amazing with helping students enroll in courses over their 4 year stay. great atmosphere overall during games, homecoming and other campus activities.

Tips for prospective students become aware of student loans and apply for as many scholarships as possible. also become active on campus as soon as you get here. befriend a professor or advisor as a mentor throughout your college career.
In three sentences it is a decent university. they are becoming better for the student and not just the university. they always have fun and educational events.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Saftey here is always a high priority. The campus saftey team they have is always there for you when you need to walk somewhere at night alone and wanna feel safe.
Greek Life The greek life here is good. The people who participate take alot of pride in there respective organization.
Clubs and Activities There are many organizations here for everybody, from acting, to student council, to even planners. There is a club suited for eveybody.
Food and Dining The food here is pretty good for the most part. There is usually lots of variety here which is good. The specials they have at certain food stations are really good.
Dorm Life The students in the dorms sometimes depending on which dorm you live in can get a little rowdy, but its never a big problem if you wanna get your work done and study in your room. However sometimes it can be a little too noisy.
Academic Rigor Some courses are more intense than others but the work is not a big deal if your willing to put in the work.
In three sentences I love the campus here for its convience because no building is more than about a 5 minute walk. I love the class size because there small so it makes the learning expiernce more personal to you as a student. The teachers hours here are good for students who need extra help with homework.

Clubs and Activities I love being part of a fraternity.
Great for these types of students students who appreciate monuments.

Bang for the buck I feel as if I am getting a quality education for the price that I am paying.
What to do for fun I am part of a Greek fraternity.
Food and Dining Ellis dining hall has the same food, but it is always great and the people that work there are so nice. Esther is the nicest lady ever!

Categories Comments Campus Safety We have public safety that will escort any student any where they need to on campus at night time if they do not want to walk alone. I encourage future students to walk with someone if its night or call public safety. It is their job to provide safety so do not feel you can't call them.
Greek Life I am not affiliated with any sororities but I've seen many of them here on campus.
Clubs and Activities Clubs create networking, socializing and volunteering. It also looks great on a resume.
Great for these types of students If you're a person that enjoys being involved in organizations then you should join one or two, etc, of the many organizations offered here on campus. I am apart of a Women's Intramural Basketball team because I played basketball in high school and found a family of women that loved to play as much as I.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It is not an unusual tradition to attend class everyday!
What to do for fun On campus there is a bowling alley, theater, open mic, the recreational center so feel free to exercise and play basketball, rock climbing, organizations have events periodically, Carmike theaters, apple bees and many other activities. College is as fun as you make it so do not sit in your room all day complaining about how boring it is if you're not trying to get involved.
Food and Dining I didn't like the dining to much because the food was repetitive and after my freshman year I decided to opt out of obtaining a meal plan.
Dorm Life I absolutely love dorm life! I met many of my friends due to residing in the dorms. I encourage it and its so much fun!
Academic Rigor Its only hard if you make it hard. If tending to your studies as you're supposed to then school will not be to rigorous although I would recommend tutor sessions and asking your professor if you encounter any problems.
Tips for prospective students A few tips for prospective students consist of: mentally prepare yourself for college, time is money; which means avoid failing classes because the consequences are the loss of money and not acquiring the credit to fulfill your degree. Make a long-term plan so you can have an idea of your expected graduation date and work towards that. In the end, remember to study and have fun because these next years of college will be the best of your life.
In three sentences The University of Central Missouri has a great Accountancy Department with genuine professors yearning to help students. It is a great environment for students to socialize and encounter new people from all over the world as well. Although the city of Warrensburg is small, there are plenty of activities to engage to avoid boredom.

Categories Comments Campus Safety If it's night time, someone will walk with you to your dorm. The safety people are always nice and quick.
Greek Life Join one if you can. It's a lot of fun and they are always doing something.
Clubs and Activities Definitely try to get involved in clubs. I'm currently in FBA and ABC Dance club. It's fun and I'm learning more things at the same time.
Great for these types of students It's great for all majors and for all types of students (i.e meaning foreign exchange students)
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I haven't found anything unusual yet but that doesn't mean you wont. What I may think is not unusual may be unusual to you. So this depends on the person.
Bang for the buck This college is cheaper then an institute. Granted everything seems expensive but when comparing an institute to a college, an institute ranges from 70,000 to 100,00 whereas, a college ranges from 15,00 to 25,000. This also doesn't include out of state and in state cost so this also depends on the person but I'm not rich so I had to go for what I can some what afford with help.
What to do for fun I get into school clubs, go to the gym, rock climb, go swimming, hang with friends and create dances with friends. Being active is fun.
Food and Dining There is a lady there that is really nice, she learns everyone name so I always look forward to seeing her when I walk into the dining room. The food is different everyday. Some times it doesn't taste the best but it's better then roman noodles all the time.
Dorm Life Can be loud at times and it sucks if you get into a tiff with another student on the same floor as you. Just do your own thing and don't cause problems. With a dorm life, you get to meet a lot of people that have the same degree as you.
Tips for prospective students Stay on top of you homework, don't slack. Have fun but not too much where you get in trouble and put your self first.
In three sentences Well knowledge, hard working instructors who want you to get your dream but doesn't give you false hope. Nice, not monotone and well explained teaching.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public Safety and police are everywhere. For the most part this is Excellent. You can count on someone being there to help or protect you. On the other hand, dont make loud noises and park in questionable spots or you'll dislike it.
Great for these types of students Are you an art, music or criminal justice student? There's specific dorms made just for your best experience. Are you a guy who likes women who like to workout and look good? Well this is your school.
Bang for the buck You can get a good education and not have to spend $50,000 to learn at this school. You get to experience quite a bit of people around the campus. If you make the best of it you surely can enjoy your college experience. If youre really lucky, theyll even send you overseas to advance your studies.
What to do for fun Your best bet is to make some outgoing friends and go to campus activities. Get some game systems. Play sports. Work out. There are bars and parties, but you either have to be of legal age and police are strict when it comes to parties so theres always room for getting in trouble.
Food and Dining I personally didn't care much for the food. It was a hit and miss ordeal for me. Sometimes the have good food, other days I didn't want to waste my time. There's a lot of repetition with certain foods and you can get bummed out on eating it after awhile. But for the price you pay to have those meals, you can cope with eating there when you'd rather ave your money and are hungry.
Dorm Life The dorms are cool places to live and have some pretty cool people. They are Old though. Some are Much older than others. They've tried to make them more modern, but they still look old. Sometimes It can be boring or else too loud, but some days you can find a middleman.
Academic Rigor This school has been pretty knowledgeable on what they have to offer to students. Some classes I've taken i felt could have been more focused on ways to dig into a students abilities more.
Tips for prospective students Make sure the school Really understands all of your classes and is either able to transfer all of your credits over or else make sure you know what you need to take to graduate ( for transfer students) and for the freshmen make sure they are well coordinated to what you want to obtain from the school. Make sure your on track with every class you take. Overall just have fun.
In three sentences UCM is a good school to receive a good education. With the amount of people it has you get to experience a pretty decent sized campus life. Although they could use some upgrading, you should be happy with your decision at UCM.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Lots of safety team people throughout campus.
Clubs and Activities I was on the dance team and it was fun, but definitely went down hill this year after the coach quit.
Great for these types of students Partiers. Sad, but true.
Bang for the buck Not all it's cracked up to be. In fact, I'm transferring this fall.
What to do for fun Sports are a good thing to get into here. Football and basketball are greatly supported by the school.
Food and Dining The food was okay some days, but most of the time there was hardly any variety.
Dorm Life Horrible. They did not match me with a room mate or suite mates that were even close to my personality. The suite mates actually ended up getting moved out of the dorm because of the constant noise coming from their room.
Academic Rigor The teachers are knowledgable and really care about each individual student.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Multiple Safety Stations with buttons that alerts police and on-campus guards for emergencies. Around the clock patrol (yes by Public safety majors in nonthreatening uniforms)
Greek Life I went to college thinking that I didn't want to pay for my friends and 'Frat Boys' were a bunch of rich tools, but I made some of my best friends that I will have for the rest of my life in the first few weeks. Yes it can get expensive, but in the end...worth it.
Clubs and Activities I'm not involved in many Clubs on-campus, but I do know there is one out there for almost everything. I once saw a flyer for Woman in Comic Books Club
Great for these types of students Psh, great for every student.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Thirsty Thursdays - Thursdays are when almost all of Warrensburg goes out to have a good time. Pine Street - This famous street has restaurants, bars, and lofts. You will find this street pact Thursday - Saturday
Bang for the buck You get the degree you want for cheap (compared to other colleges)
What to do for fun GREEK LIFE!!! Greek Life always keeps me busy with extra activities plus some of the best friends I will have for a lifetime. If Greek Life isn't your thing, there are more on-campus activities than I even knew could exist.
Food and Dining The food is cheap, but the cafeterias have so many options that everyone is satisfied.
Dorm Life Safe. Fun. Home. You always have an older student to talk to if you need and if you find yourself bored on a Saturday night; the dorms always have events going on.
Academic Rigor I always say, The teacher makes the class. UCM has amazing teachers that teach you in ways that imprint the subject into your mind. Other schools just tell you what to learn and hope you the best.
Tips for prospective students GO TO CLASS!!!!!!!!! That is the most important rule. UCM does its best to help plan around your schedule, but if you don't go to class there is nothing anyone can do to help you about that.
In three sentences The main reason why i chose this school was because both my grandparents where professors here and half of my family graduated from here. The classes are all perfect sizes and the teachers really care about you. My favorite is that I'm not a number to UCM, I'm the future.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Because UCM is not a Division I school it is only about $14,000 with in state tuition. Counties that border Missouri can also attain a state-line grant and receive in state tuition. I had fun and met a lot of people and I really feel like I advanced my knowledge in the field I wish to go into.
What to do for fun Two golf courses, a park with a lake. Intramural sports, as well as sporting events. Multiple café locations in the union and library.
Food and Dining The food and dining could use a little work. It is tolerable though. I suppose my experience in the dining hall was kind of hit and miss.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Campus life is always having something going on for the students, especially during the Week of Welcome at the beginning of the school year. There is bowling in the union as well as some other little things to do around town. Intramural sports is a big thing at UCM and a pretty big number of students participate in it; it gives the students a chance to compete and have fun at the same time.
Food and Dining Dining in the halls at UCM is always fun because you never really know what you're going to get. The food is hit and miss, but if you don't like the choices or quality of it, there are other chain favorites such as Taco Bell and Burger King on campus as well.
Dorm Life Dorm life at UCM is phenomenal in my opinion. The Community Advisors in the dorms really do everything they can to make your time in the halls fun, considerate, and safe for everyone. The rules are simple and easy to follow, allowing everyone to still have a good time without getting in any trouble. Programs and activities put on by the leadership in the dorms are almost always worthwhile and fun to go to. Overall, dorm life at UCM, makes the college experience even better.
Academic Rigor UCM is a good school, regardless of the program you go into. However, as said before, if you really want to experience good academics and scholarship, you yourself have to put in the work and seek it out. Reason being that too often people expect the professor to do all the work for you, when in reality it's not like that at all. There are good professors here and they will help you achieve what you want to.
Tips for prospective students My only true tip for prospective students is to really make the most of your experience here. If you put in the work and really strive to make the most of it here, the work will pay off. Professor will put in the work with you, you'll see the success you're achieving, and it really does help make your college experience more productive and fun.
In three sentences The University of Central Missouri is a college that truly shows an interest in getting you ready for your future career. Faculty and staff do all they can to make your stay and attendance at UCM as productive as possible, provided that you put in the work as well. Overall, the university is a good school that is only improving as the years go on.

In three sentences University of Central Missouri has a wide variety of fun activities to do for students. There are over 100 majors to choose from and the opportunity to make up your on major. Central Missouri is a D2 school and even though thesports are not televised, we do have many alumni students in the NFL and NBA.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are Emergency Poles everywhere on campus and in the parking lots. If you have to study late or forgot something in your car at night, you can call public safety and they'll escort you.
Greek Life Excellent diversity.
Clubs and Activities Excellent diversity. Everything from ping pong club to a club specializing in conspiracy theories... If the University of Central Missouri doesn't have the club; start it.
Great for these types of students Married, Active Duty Military, Dependant Spouses, Single Parents.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Eat at the local restaurants, they're pretty yummy!
Bang for the buck I explored basically every college in the area because I'm from the area. I'm currently enrolled in 16 credit hours and paid $3,500 for the semester.
What to do for fun There are countless organizations on campus, get involved!
Food and Dining I ate at the dining hall only once during orientation; it was great! Very clean, nice staff, and a lot of choices!
Dorm Life I have never lived on campus.
Academic Rigor Any school can be challenging if you make it challenging. There are tutoring services available in every department at the University of Central Missouri.
Tips for prospective students I have never lived on campus, but it is extremely affordable to live in Warrensburg while attending school.
In three sentences I didn't choose to attend the University of Central Missouri, it chose me. I got married the summer before my freshman year and my future husband is stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base. Even though my college was chosen for me, I wouldn't change a thing; the University of Central Missouri is an excellent school!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The safe team is always there to help when you feel in danger. There are emergency posts all around campus, so it makes the campus feel more safe.
Greek Life The most fun you could ever have, even with the fact that they put education first. It's the easiest way to make friends for life. I think of the people in my fraternity as brothers more than friends. The bond is stronger than most.
Clubs and Activities They offer any clubs you can think of, and if they don't have it, you can make it yourself which is great.
Great for these types of students Great for students who want the full college experience, but don't want the huge campus where it's easy to get lost. Here you can walk around campus and almost always see somebody that you know.
Bang for the buck Points are a great investment because they are accepted almost everywhere, so its like having extra money from your parents.
What to do for fun The games be live and are always exciting. Also there is always a party going on.
Food and Dining East Ellis is the best place to eat. The campus offers a wide variety of things to eat. I wish the dining halls were open later though.
Dorm Life It made it a lot easier for me to make friends. Especially since my door was open.
Academic Rigor The teachers actually care and will take time to help you however they can.
Tips for prospective students Don't lose focus because it is very easy in college. School comes first and everything else comes afterwards. Also, it helps if you make yourself known to your teachers because they can be a big help.
In three sentences I love it. The people are friendly and it's easy to get around the campus. I love that everything you need is in walking distance.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Art students, nursing majors, computer and math majors
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Apparently, there are a few Halloween events. And the other night, I went to the Yeater hall dorm for their haunted house event, and apparently, the third floor (also the highest floor), is haunted and absolutely no one is allowed to go on that floor due to the 2 ghosts.
Bang for the buck It's relatively cheaper than most schools, but offers good service and education. In Missouri, I hear a lot of people mention UCM if you want to become an art major (I am one as well)!
What to do for fun There are usually events going on at UCM each week, and if you get involved, you can go to some cool events and meet new people.
In three sentences I've lived in Warrensburg almost my whole life, and when I considered going to UCM because it's financial cheaper than most schools, I was also unsure if I would enjoy staying another 4 years here. Since this semester, I realized that I really like UCM! It's a good school, and the teachers are overall helpful and nice to the students, and the environment is pretty clean too.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I rate this a 3 star because not many things here happen. Except when someone was robbed in front of a residence hall. Which I could never think would happen.
Greek Life I don't participate in Greek life. My interests are not aimed to participate.
What to do for fun As said, the University of Central Missouri is a party school, but not really. There are parties to go to, but most of them get busted by the authorities. There are different type of activities you can do depending on what your interests are. I play billiards from time to time. There is a bowling alley, a generic redbox where you can rent movies. You can also go climb a rock wall, which is located in the Wellness and Recreation Center.
Food and Dining Food and dining is ran by Sodexo. The food served is the same with no other options. Once in a while, there may be some food to get your taste buds excited, but overall one has to eat either a salad or a sub sandwich, which are both good, to not gain a ton of weight. It's like they put some type of hormones in the food to make you fat and bloated.
Dorm Life I have had negative experiences living in the dorms. The Community Adviser's on my floor are too strict. It's a college for God's sake! It's like you can't speak too loud or they'll tell you can you be less quite, the same with music. They go as far as going on the upper and lower floor, out of their jurisdiction, and tell them what to do. Other than that, the people are good people.
Academic Rigor There are many resources such as the Student Success Center, the Writing Center, and Trio program that help students with their work. The faculty is dedicated to help students, all you have to do is ask for their help.
Tips for prospective students Save up as much money as you can before coming to any college. Use your time wisely.
In three sentences University of Central Missouri is a great school to attend while residing in the Kansas City, Missouri area. The dorm hall I live in is named Fitzgerald Hall and it's the best dorm of all the others. It's a great place to attend for teaching, medical, and technology.

Food and Dining The only downside.
Dorm Life Once you find a dorm right for you, it's good.
Academic Rigor If your friends with your professors, your fine.
Tips for prospective students Look into your colleges thoroughly. I switched my major three times now, and I am only a freshman.
In three sentences This college is awesome. It's far away from my home. I love it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety top of the line. Officers stationed at several vital points. Respond to incidents almost immediately. Very committed to student safety. I give them a warm thank you for all they do for me and the students here at UCM.
Clubs and Activities Lambda Alpha Epsilon- the national criminal justice group which participates in related events throughout the year and quite entertaining for any age group or study.
Great for these types of students Criminal Justices students will love this place. The layout of the grounds exemplifies an attention to detail. All of the classrooms are withn easy access highlighting this school's committment to business and efficiency.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus none that I'm aware of
Bang for the buck shop for your textbooks from other websites. Not that UCM has bad prices but always be a smart consumer and cultivate multiple options before you make a purchase.
What to do for fun UCM offers lots of sporting activities after classes. If that is not your style several clubs and groups meet regularly for just about any kind of taste. Hanging out in the student union is always fun because they have a bowling alley. Each dorm area has a lounge area and pool tables, which is a great place to hang out with friends.
Food and Dining The cafeteria was a bit expensive at times but what I loved was that the food was always prepared fresh, no matter what time of day you were there. Plus it always kept me full throughout the day.
Dorm Life I commuted back and forth between classes so I have no opinion of the dorm life
Academic Rigor some of the classes can be demanding of time, effort and brainpower. However nothing is too strenuous that either you or the instructor cannot handle.
Tips for prospective students Study when the instructor tells you. time can become precious if you are trying to balance a job. Listen carefully to the lectures and you will be able to handle any test. keep your head up and go for what you desire.
In three sentences Warrensburg offers small class sizes. Flexible hours to choose classes. Quite possible the best staff to learn from for obtaining a Criminal Justice degree.

Categories Comments Greek Life Great, everyone in greek is usually really nice. There's only one fraternity that lives up to the stereotypical douchery.
Bang for the buck Great teachers, beautiful campus, and awesome people. If you're a science, nursing, med, or nutrition major. Be prepared for all the lab fees.
What to do for fun The campus does a lot for the students, and almost every weekend there is an activity to do. I highly suggest getting involved in Greek life as its not your typical I'm better than you, party party party life. Most people you'd never guess they're Greek.
Food and Dining The food is great, it gets old after a few months though. Not really a surprise. You have a ton of options to eat outside the dining hall though.
Dorm Life Most of the dorms have either been renovated or are in the process, all the bedding and dressers are new.
Academic Rigor This all depends on your major, all of the medical majors, and nutritional majors are not easy to get into, you start off with a lot of weed out classes.
Tips for prospective students Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are the hardcore party days. Not a lot of people go home on the weekends anymore, although some weekends the campus will be completely dead.
In three sentences Great school, greek life is awesome, and chill, people are really nice

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safety is a HUGE part of Central Missouri. With several of the majors offered being Criminal Justice and Safety Management it could not be stressed enough at school. There is a SAFE team that walks the campus at all hours. They also offer a walking service to walk specifically women back from the library or a late class at night. Poles are set up around campus with buttons on them that will alert the safe team when necessary. The campus police are always out and about but they stay out of your way if you stay out of theirs. The city of Warrensburg has its own police units patrolling the town and with a highway running through there is even highway patrolmen close by.
Greek Life The Greek life on campus is slightly different than what you would see at most universities. A few of the fraternities have houses of their own and the rest reside in a complex with multiple fraternities occupying their specific sectors of the complex. The sororities all reside in a complex on campus.
Clubs and Activities You can join hundreds of different organizations on campus. Writing clubs, intramural sports, greek life, sports teams, tutoring. Most departments have organizations to join that will further you knowledge in your desired degree. There are too many to list some come take a tour and find out for yourself.
Great for these types of students The University of Central Missouri is a great place for students who wish to excel towards a specific degree. For students who wish to build relationships with students and teachers alike.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One of the dorm buildings on campus is supposedly haunted. Every year around halloween the university opens up the top haunted floor for a tour. Homecoming week is a blast, students and their families are invite to gather for the homecoming football game, or to participate in the 5k run on campus.
Bang for the buck Compared to larger universities, The University of Central Missouri is a much cheaper option. Especially if you live in the state of Missouri or a border state you can obtain a state-line grant or in-state tuition which greatly reduces the cost. You get the same education you would get at a big university but in smaller class sizes with teachers who have time to learn your name and work with you individually.
What to do for fun There is the student recreation center, there you can workout, rock climb, do your homework, or even take part in a fitness class. There is bowling in the student union, and intramural sports opportunities where you may sign up to become part of a team with your friends.
Food and Dining There are two main public eating facilities for students with a meal plan. You may choose to have an all access package for unlimited food and drink in the dining hall. There are also several fast food restaurants including Einstein Bros. and Chic-Fil-A spread out in the library, student recreation center, and the student union.
Dorm Life There are a number of options for life in the dorms at the University. You can stay in the standard dorms if you please. The dorms are co-ed and you have one roommate and then you share a bathroom with two people of your gender, a bathroom that connects in between the two rooms. You also have the option to have a dorm room all to yourself, although the cost will go up a bit. You may sign up to room with a friend that you know or you can go outside of your comfort zone and choose to go potluck to find a roommate that you may live with. There are also dorm apartments that you may acquire after your freshman year. If you are studying a specific major and wish to live with other people who will be in your classes and studying towards the same degree there is a building that you may live amongst other people in your department. And last but not least there are honors dorms for honor students and people who are part of the University of Central Missouri honors college.
Academic Rigor The teachers that I have had thus far have all been very helpful. They want to see the students do well. They don't baby you but they are always there to guide you along the way. The general education courses require more than attendance but are most often a bit easier than the courses you will take that specialize in your major. Stay organized and show up to class.
Tips for prospective students Take a tour of the campus, if you are already interested in obtaining a specific degree you can navigate through the ucmo.edu website and discover whether or not Central Missouri is the right place for you. If they do offer something that interests you, call the University before your visit and set up a meeting with the head of the department or other university workers.
In three sentences University of Central Missouri is a medium sized Division II school with hundreds of opportunities. The staff and faculty are beyond helpful, and many of them specialize in specific majors. There is a great presence of unity throughout the campus and the town of Warrensburg.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The public safety at UCM is phenomenal. They have towers all over campus that can be used to reach them in cases of emergency and their response time to your location is under a minute. They patrol the campus on foot and also provide escorts for those who feel uneasy about walking across campus alone.
Greek Life Personally, I am not a member of the Greek Life at UCM so I cannot attest to what's great about it.
Clubs and Activities There are organizations for everyone. Personally, I am highly involved in the Music Department at UCM. With the vast majority of these organizations you do not need to be pursuing a relevant major to participate.
Great for these types of students Those who choose to party will miss out on the great educational opportunities available at UCM. If you're applied, the professors will take you under their wing.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have the Friendship Tower which is identical to a tower found at our sister school in Germany. It's a large clock tower that rings in every hour. It looks great on campus.
Bang for the buck As long as you apply yourself, you can get a first-class education for an extremely affordable price. The president of the university, Chuck Ambrose, is very vocal on how he plans to keep tuition prices as low as possible.
What to do for fun The student union offers a bowling alley that is extremely affordable to play in. My friends and I invested in a collapsible card table and we often play board games and cards when we aren't having a homework party.
Food and Dining The convenience of the dining hall can't be beat. The variety is also something to brag about. Often a plethora of ethnic dishes are offered. It does tend to be pretty pricey. If you're willing, you can save a pretty penny by moving into the campus apartments and cooking your own food.
Dorm Life The dorms offer whatever kind of lifestyle you wish. Whether you want to be social and attend planned floor events, or if you'd rather stay locked up in your room with a good book. They're quiet enough for studying, but lively enough to have a good time. I recommend the dorms on the East side of campus (i.e. Ellis Complex, UCC).
Academic Rigor The professors really want you to succeed. First, however, you have to be there to succeed yourself. Professors aren't going to spoon feed everything. You need to respect them by putting forth effort and they will meet you in the middle.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! Don't waste your time and money going to house parties. They're not going to benefit your education. There are a plethora of different organizations that you can participate in.
In three sentences UCM is medium sized university that offers the opportunities of a large university and the small class sizes of a small university. It is a walking campus and from end to end it takes no more than ten minutes to cross. The professors are there to help you as long as you're there to help yourself.

What to do for fun The Union has bowling, gaming center food. There is little to do.
