Am learning a lot
The classes here are challenging, but the instructors understand that you have other classes so they don't overload you.
Am enjoying being here
There are so many ways to get involved on campus! There is always something going on also. This makes it a very fun place to be.
Bang for the buck
Its the 3rd largest university in the state of Oklahoma, yet the tuition is so much less than OU or OSU!
Tips for prospective students
Edmond is a beautiful town that is still growing, its a fun place to live.
Great for these types of students

It was a bigger transition from high school than what I thought it would be. The instructors' expectations of you are high. I learned very fast that I needed to get into the mindset of being an extremely determined student. I learned that my study skills needed some work because the instructors do not just hand you a good grade. You have to earn it.
Am enjoying being here
I love this university. It has a really big blend of ethnicities and I have met some really cool people. I wanted a change. I wanted to be around new people and a new environment. That is why I chose the University of Central Oklahoma over a smaller community college.
Bang for the buck
This college is rapidly growing. It is the third largest university in the state of Oklahoma. The tuition is not as expensive as OU or OSU. This campus loves to encourage its students to get involved in campus activities, and the staff make sure to let students feel welcomed.
Tips for prospective students
If you like meeting new people who are very much different from you, but also very much the same, you should choose the University of Central Oklahoma! It is located in Edmond, OK which is a very fast-pace city that is rapidly growing. It is very fun to live here!
Great for these types of students
This university is a great choice for students who want to take part in leadership opportunities and athletics. It has a growing Forensic Science department, also.

Am learning a lot
Yes, I am learning a lot, both inside and outside the classroom. UCO has taught me to be a better person, and to apply myself even more to get the grade I want.
Am enjoying being here
I do enjoy being here. I made some new friends, and some of the faculty here, especially in the Multicultural Student Services Office, are good, helpful people who will help any student, and will push their students to succeed.
Bang for the buck
Compared to all the other schools here in Oklahoma it is an affortable four year school, and it is closer to home.

Going to the University of Central Oklahoma is a great experience. The classes are great, the dorms are almost being at home and the food is great.
Bang for the buck
UCO is very cheap to attend. The meal plans, housing, and classes are very affordable for everyone.
Tips for prospective students
Go to class, do your homework and study and you will do great!
Great for these types of students
Everyone! It doesn't matter if your rich or poor everyone will be accepting and friendly.

Am learning a lot
I have definitely learned a lot about the University of Central Oklahoma, ranging in all aspects of my life. Most importantly, I have learned to communicate better with people from different backgrounds and cultures. Also, intellectually, I have matured as well.
Am enjoying being here
I love my time spent at UCO; from the classroom, to the city, there's always an inviting atmosphere. Many of the classes most students take are rather small in comparison to OU or OSU. In addition, the ambience of Edmond is friendly and slow-paced, a great place to explore and study.
Bang for the buck
The biggest bang for your buck at UCO is the experience you take away from it. Some of my favorite memories are the football games I performed at, or the campus-wide events that my group would attend. There's never a dull moment on campus if you take the time to talk with the people you meet.
Tips for prospective students
Live on campus your first year. is the biggest advice I could give a prospective student. Suggest you get a private room with a locking door. Living on campus allows one to become accustomed to the university quickly, as well as introduces you to a large number of could be life-long friends.

Parking isn't easy to find for students living on campus or for commuter students. That's an adjustment.
Great for these types of students
The University of Central Oklahoma is ideal for any students. It provides a challenging, yet not overly demanding coursework. Additionally, it has an inviting campus vibe with a multitude of amenities.

UCO is a great college with an excellent staff that genuinely cares about your education. The professors are always willing to help you and answer any questions you may have. The class sizes are fairly small, it seems comparable to a high school class size. This allows you to get help with pretty much anything you need help with.
Am enjoying being here
UCO has a great campus. It is a beautiful campus, very clean, everything is very easy to find. Everyone is always willing to help point you in the right direction if you can't find a class or an office that you have to go to. UCO also has many ways to get involved on campus, with many student organizations to choose from.
Bang for the buck
UCO is a great college at a great price! It has one of the most affordable tuition costs of any other Oklahoma college. You also get a quality education, and professors that care about your education.
Tips for prospective students
Get involved on campus! You will make many great friends!
Great for these types of students
UCO is great for students who want an affordable, quality education. It is also not too large, but not too small, so if you come from a smaller town it is a great choice.

UCO is THE BEST choice for undergraduate research opportunities (I have been involved in actual research since the summer before I attended).
UCO has small class sizes and quality professors (all of my professors know my name and most truly care about their students' success).
UCO has ABET certified degrees, which is really important!
Tips for prospective students
Make yourself known to your professor early on. They really care about your success in the class and in later life. The sooner you go and talk to them, the sooner they can let you know about research, help you in class, or write you recommendations!
Apply for housing early if you want to live on campus- UCO is a big commuter school, and housing is limited; apply early.
Look for on-campus jobs; UCO has countless jobs on-campus that pay well- from tutoring to working the IT desk.
Get involved in undergraduate research! There are always professors wanting to get some hungry undergrads to do work for them! This goes along with my first tip- make yourself known to your professors. I got to publish a paper my freshman year because my math professor was impressed with my work in class; he invited me to join his research team. This leads to several conferences and networking opportunities that undergrads simply do not get anywhere else!
Academic Rigor
I have heard that UCO has the hardest engineering degrees in the state (directly from transfers at OU and OSU). I believe it as a Biomedical Engineering student. Our classes are hard, but you learn a ton! As I mentioned before, my degree is ABET accredited- so it makes sense that it is rigorous. They have many standards that other schools don't have to adhere to because of the type of degrees offered.
Dorm Life
I've lived on-campus for two years. I like that the dorms are quiet and study-friendly. We have a study room on each floor and hall of my building (West Hall). The dorms aren't too expensive, especially if you look at the surrounding area for housing. Also, our RA's (resident assistants) are really nice. They help organize events for our dorm and decorate it with a new theme every semester. If you happen to become an RA, they get free housing and a meal plan.
Food and Dining
There are several options to dine on campus, especially in the food court. Also, Edmond has a lot of variety in terms of food. You can eat something radically different every day. The campus cafeteria, Buddy's, also has several days that are designated to a different part of the world, so you can explore different food on campus.
What to do for fun
There are so many events going on around campus that you simply cannot go to all of them- even if you have extra time on your hands. There are also several cultural events that really open your eyes to new things. The best part is they are free! Your student activity fees pay for it all. Another super cool thing that's free is our boathouse at lake Arcadia (10 min away). Students get to do free paddle boarding, canoeing, backpacking, and mountain biking! They also offer ropes courses and backpacking trips. The Wellness Center on campus has a rock wall that is also free to students. Off campus, there are several live concerts around town in Edmond. They will block off the main street for live bands and food trucks several times a month. Also, Bricktown and OKC are very close- and there are tons of things to do there.
Bang for the buck
UCO has one of the lowest tuition rates in the state. You get professors- not TA's. There is always free tutoring- even for upper level classes. There are countless scholarships and fee waivers through the school. Just apply and see what happens. You will get something! We have a really cool transformative learning initiative going on where students get their own online portfolios for job searches, smaller class sizes with novel group activities, field trips, and of course, undergraduate research! I'm telling you- nowhere else will give you all of these opportunities and a certified degree for the price.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Like I mentioned before, this school is huge on undergraduate research. None of my nerdy friends from high school at different schools can believe it when I tell them that I've been doing research this whole time- and getting paid for it. When you go to conferences to present your research, people are always asking which graduate school you go to, or what your PhD is in. It's so much fun to see their faces when you tell them you're an undergrad.
Great for these types of students
UCO is great for hard workers and people who like to push themselves. If you have a dream- let your professors and advisers know about it; they will bend over backwards to help you. If you want to do undergraduate research and stand out among your peers- look no further. That's exactly what you will do here at UCO.
Clubs and Activities
I'm the president of the UCO Sailing Club, and we sail top schools like Tulane. Our hockey team is bomb, and we have so many cool clubs like the fencing team, rugby, bass fishing, shooting, and the medieval society. There is so much variety, it's really hard to choose what to be involved in. What's awesome is I don't know of a club here where your dues are more than $20. That's a huge plus.
There are also many academic clubs available, many of them national: SWE, BMES, HOSA, Tri Beta, and many others. You can always find a club in your major. We have a club for everything.
Greek Life
I'm sorry, but I don't know much about the Greek life here on campus, as I'm not in a sorority. I have heard from friends that they really enjoy it, and the International house looks really nice.
Campus Safety
The campus is well-lit, and I never feel endangered. We have a special program in place called the Safe Walk. You can go to one of the several call boxes and our on-campus police will escort you to wherever you want to go if you do feel unsafe. We have our own UCOPD in the middle of campus.
