Tips for prospective students Use office hours, study groups, learning communities, and learning center hours to your advantage. There are tons of resources at your disposal when you are a student at UC. Apply early -- even if you're not sure, because applying before December guarantees you a $2000/year scholarship. Go on a campus visit, but also wonder around campus on your own (during the school day) and try to drop in a couple classes (discreetly of course).
Bang for the buck I got lucky in that I qualified for in-state tuition. I think the price is great for in-state eligible students. The campus is very modern -- there is WiFi everywhere, almost every classroom has a computer/projector setup, and the professors are good about using Blackboard and email. The out-of-state price is very high, and I would only recommend it if you enroll in a top-ranking program like DAAP or CCM. For the in-state engineering student, UC is a great choice!
Am enjoying being here The campus at UC is probably the most beautiful thing in Cincinnati. I love walking around campus and it feels like an urban city but has plenty of green spaces and quiet corners. I couldn't ask for more in a college campus. I also find that most of the students are very open to new people from all kinds of backgrounds.
Am learning a lot I was delighted to find that most of the professors at UC really know their stuff and they are willing to help if you don't understand them on the first go. However, it certainly is useful to ask around about potential professors. I had a Chemistry lecture that was useless, but the TA really helped me stay on track. That being said, a lot of the TA's, especially in the math department, are really truly horrible. Office hours and learning centers (free!) are your friend if you get stuck with one of these TA's.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Engineers DAAP (artistic outlooks) Coop (UC founded it) Finding a major.
Tips for prospective students Be forward. Make friends join an learning community where you will be placed with other people with the same schedule as you. Form groups to study with. My grades went up when I studied with other people. Because it means I get to teach them which ends up as practice for me and they can help me if I don't get something or I'm on the wrong track. If you are on a science based major (engineering for example) take some AP and get them out of the way. the transition from highschool to a tough college will most likely rattle a new student. The first few quarters will be lighter if you take AP. If you aren't sure where to go, take some classes and find out what you want to do. Even if it seems like junk classes and a waste of 10,000 (with books ect.) you can build your GPA, get Grants, get scholarships, and then get into a College you want to be in for sure. So 10,000 will probably turn into 3,000 if you do well.
Bang for the buck I won't say it's cheap, but it's definitely not bad. 10,000 (books ect,). Books are something that you should ask around for. Many upper classmen are trying to get rid of their old books and will sell theirs for absurdly low prices. I've gotten books that were 80 for 10, and 160 for 30. You won't find those prices too often but you'll get at least 50% off if you ask around. Lastly. Co-op. We founded co-op in the engineering building. If your major has co-ops. I would advise taking the extra year being a student and Co-op. You'll 1) bring your resume up 2) get real world experience for your major 3) make money to pay off loans 4) possibly learn a language and do international co-op. 5) after graduation possibly get hired by a company you co-op'ed with.
Am enjoying being here The first few quarters I've had ups and downs. My down was mostly because of the course work, but that's what i get for choosing one of the harder colleges (engineering) the campus has to offer. Even in a tough college like Engineering I've had a lot of fun. There are dozens of groups and if there isn't one for your interest you can make one. My friends and I, we made the UC breakdancing club. You can often find us around main street in the glass box below the rec center. And never have we turned down someone who wants to learn. Other than clubs, there's a lot of chill spots. Sigma sigma, mainstreet cinema, catskeller (restaurant, arcade), during fall and spring The commons at the end of mainstreet has events everywhere. Food, music, and a lot of it is FREE.
Am learning a lot There are a lot of good teachers, but be warned about TAs. They are part of major classes and teach once a week. There knowledge varies heavily, but there are some who do know their topic well. the recitation (one with a TA) is a class where you should ask questions if you don't understand. To make it less intimidating think of it as asking a friend who happened to take the class before you. As for the lectures themselves with your professor, I've had a lot of good professors. If you don't manage to get something out of your professor during lecture, there are office hours where you can talk to the teacher, and there's half a dozen centers where graduates and upper classmen can help you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UC is perfect for students who study hard, but like to have fun! Students who value diversity and meeting new people would love this school, seeing as how one of UC's main focuses is diversity. There are many different types of people on campus, and I feel that UC is perfect for anyone!
Tips for prospective students There is so much to do that will enrich your experience here, so make sure to look at all of the student organizations to see what UC has to offer you. Also, be sure to take a campus tour and talk to current students! Research the possible majors, and consider their great medical facility if you are interested in a health care career.
Bang for the buck Speaking from the prospective of an in-state student, The University of Cincinnati is very affordable. They also offer a wide variety of scholarships and aid for students.
Am enjoying being here There is always something to do! There are extensive opportunities to get involved, whether it be on-campus clubs or organizations, Greek life, sporting events, etc. or even just hanging out in the dorms or apartments. People are super friendly and you will never be bored!
Am learning a lot There is always an interesting class to take, and the professors are very helpful! They encourage you to do your best, while presenting you with challenging information. If you are a freshman, most professors understand the transition from high school to college, and one aspect that really adds to this is the learning communities many of the majors require or highly suggest. This allows you to learn from other students and work more closely with your teaching assistant.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The University of Cincinnati is exceptionally ranked in the fields of nursing, engineering, and arts and design, but really it's a place that fits just about everyone's interests and passions.
Tips for prospective students Don't second guess yourself on what you want or what you want to pursue in college. I have many friends who change their major because they went into their second choice major instead of taking the initial risk with what they truly loved. To those with undecided majors, UC also has a wonderful exploratory program to give you a taste of everything, thereby helping you find your passions and potential career.
Bang for the buck Although college is undoubtedly expensive, for the price of UC you get a great education, good food in the three dining halls, a great living environment, and an overall good experience.
Am enjoying being here I love the campus and the area around Cincinnati. UC is located in the middle of many amazing places only a short bus ride away. For example, we are near the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Cincinnati Zoo, the Krohn Conservatory, and many great shopping areas. If you want to stay on campus, there are hundreds of clubs to join too. I find I rarely have an hour with nothing to do let alone a whole day!
Am learning a lot I am currently in UC's college of DAAP- Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning. It is a fantastic place to study; the majority of the professors are UC graduates who teach part time. They start from the basics no matter how much previous experience you have. This gives more students the ability to go into design fields, because it doesn't require any prior knowledge of art or design. The school also has a very strict grading scale which is a powerful motivator for most students.

Am learning a lot I attended as a PSEOP student during my senior year of high school. I've learned a lot not only academically but socially about what colleges expect of students and it's not anything like high school!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UC is great for students who like to work out because of the rec center. Uc is great for those that do not want to drive to school and not have a car. UC is great for students who like chipotle as there are two within walking distance!
Tips for prospective students The first year might be a little rough, but it will get better. Shadow someone and do a college visit. Be sure to check out the rec center.
Bang for the buck The parking is outrageous. It's 8 dollars per day to park in a garage if you dont buy the parking permit which is $225 per quarter or if you forget your permit. Books are ridiculously priced at the book store. 10k a year in tuition to have foreign professors and grad students is a rip off in my opinion as well, at least all my classes dont have foreign profs.
Am enjoying being here I love being at UC. The atmosphere is alright. I do have a couple of complaints though. The old chem building which I've had a few classes in seems to be falling apart. There are poles holding the one side up, the rooms I've been in are filthy, moldy, and one even had a hole punched in the wall. In this room half of the light bulbs were burned out; it is just about impossible to take an exam in the dark.
Am learning a lot The first year for many of the classes was difficult because almost all my professors were foreign. I'm in my second year and so far this year the quality of the professors have been much better. They are more helpful, they speak clearly and for the most part seem to really enjoy their job.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Urban, people-oriented, involved.
Tips for prospective students Take a campus tour. The rec center is awesome! Talk to as many people as you can, and try to get a feel for the surrounding area to see if it's right for you. Definitely have an interview with the head of your prospective major.
Bang for the buck UC is pretty good about giving scholarships, and the quality of the campus and teachers are well worth the costs.
Am enjoying being here The buildings are modern and very up-to-date. Technology is used a lot and you'll love how compact the whole campus is. The surrounding area, Clifton, is run-down but there are a lot of community improvement projects that are working to make the area more student-friendly.
Am learning a lot The professors are very dedicated to their subject and are always willing to help. Most classes are challenging but not so much that you'll get overwhelmed.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UC is great for students who want a large, diverse school in a big-city setting. Cincinnati is obviously not as large as Chicago or New York, but it's definitely big enough that boredom isn't really an option. The school is great for lovers of math and science, as well as the arts and business.
Tips for prospective students Please please listen to me: GO TO CLASS! It is the most important thing and the hardest thing to do. Going to class really makes a difference, and developing a schedule is key. Most students are used to coming from high schools where everything is pretty much planned out for them, and having the freedom of college can become a problem if students let it. Skipping class all the time is the easiest way to fail because many teachers do take attendance and will specifically teach information only available in class and not online.
Bang for the buck As a freshman, students are required to live in a dorm for at least one year, and that's where the major expenses come from. However, after freshman year, students can live anywhere, and living off campus with roommates really cuts down on costs, and makes going to school more affordable. The tuition is definitely worth the school, especially when the Engineering Department, DAAP, CCM, and Business Department are all top ranked departments in the U.S.
Am enjoying being here I love being at UC and in Cincinnati. I grew up in a very small town, and moving to a city the size of Cincinnati was a big deal for me, but I'm really enjoying the change. UC is a big school, but the buildings are close together and campus is always filled with people playing music, hanging out, or studying. There is always something to do, either on campus or off. Living in a city like Cincinnati gives students many more resources than at smaller schools in smaller cities. Yes, students do need to be careful and smart in the city, but it's worth the art museums, great food, sporting events, shopping, and music venues. Not to mention that a bigger city offers more job opportunities, and UC's co-op program can put students in some of the biggest and most powerful companies in the U.S. and abroad.
Am learning a lot I've found that in my major, Secondary Language Arts Education, many of the teachers are very willing and able to help students. There are a wide variety of class sizes and teaching styles, so any student can find the style that allows him/her to learn best. Quarters are only 10 weeks, so classes move through material pretty quickly, and it's not easy to get bored when things are moving fast. UC also has a large course offering, and students can find interesting classes in every major.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UC is great for any type of student. It has many well-recognized programs such as the engineering program, the nursing program, the architecture program, and the interior design program. I encourage everyone to look into the University of Cincinnati. It's friendly atmosphere and outstanding academics will capture any eye.
Tips for prospective students Take more than one tour of this campus. I wasn't convinced on going to UC the first time around, but after the second tour I fell in love and there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to attend the University of Cincinnati.
Bang for the buck Wherever you go, college is going to be expensive and it is going to take a chunk out of your wallet. Nevertheless, UC costs a lot less than a majority of other schools; especially if you pay in-state tuition. However, if you are an out of state student, you are able to get in-state tuition if you own property in Ohio. This is a great bonus that a lot of my friends are taking advantage of.
Am enjoying being here UC's atmosphere is unbelievable. Everyone is so friendly and inviting. Within the first two weeks, I met a boatload of people with the same interests and hobbies as me. Not only are the people a thrill about UC, but also the UC campus is beautiful and I enjoy exploring it each and every day.
Am learning a lot I am currently a college freshman at the University of Cincinnati for the 2010-2011 school year. At UC, I am studying interior design in the School of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, also known as DAAP. The interior design program is ranked nationally as the best interior design school in the United States. As a result, I am learning leaps and bounds of new information and new techniques in this program. I am learning to think outside the box, to solve different kinds of problems, and to develop my creativity to a whole new level.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UC is one of the most diverse schools, so I encourage anyone to apply. If you are majoring in engineering or one of the DAAP majors, I definitely suggest applying to UC. It is also a great school for those looking to be in the city.
Tips for prospective students Definitely visit UC before making a decision. I chose to apply to UC because it looked good on collegeboard.com, but visiting is really what got me excited about the idea of going there.
Bang for the buck I personally have not felt like my money was wasted terribly, but I know others have had worse experiences with professors. Once again, I feel that the food could be improved on. I also do not like how much is spent on athletics, but that is seen at every university. My only major complaint is that scholarships are hard to come by, and when they are received, it is not much. Only ten incoming freshman a year receive a full ride. You have to be in the right program or of minority status to receive significant financial help.
Am enjoying being here I lived in a residence hall last year, and I met great people to hang out with. I have also met great people through my involvement on campus. The rec center offers tons of fitness classes each week, where it is easy to start a conversation with someone new. I have joined clubs centered around my majors, and it is nice to know that I can bond with others in my field while learning important things for my future. I'd say I have met the most diverse group of people in the co-ed service fraternity I joined, Alpha Phi Omega. The group also provides for tons of leadership opportunities. And, of course, the campus is beautiful. My main complaint about UC is the foods available in the dining hall- while there is much selection, as a picky eater I am not very satisfied.
Am learning a lot UC encourages students to pursue more than just their major- whether it is adding a second major, minor, or certificate. I am currently double-majoring, and I intend on adding a certificate as well. In addition, UC wants all students to be well-rounded, so each student has general education requirements in addition to their major requirements. Through this, I have taken classes that I have loved and classes that I have hated- but I still learned a ton no matter what. I have had mostly helpful professors who are interested in giving me the best grade that I deserve. In addition, I am in the honors program and am constantly receiving e-mails or in-person talks about the opportunities given to honors students. Scholarships, internships, studying abroad, or research opportunities, I always feel in the loop to better my educational experience.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UC is great for anyone who wants a beautiful urban campus. And especially architecture or interior design students, who’s programs are among the top in the nation. My big draw to the university was the co-op program. It is part of the curriculum and allows students to intern at different firms to gain experience and build a well-rounded resume.
Tips for prospective students Be ambitious. There is so much to do on campus, there is no excuse to only go to class. Join a club or a frat. Visit downtown. Have the time of your life.
Bang for the buck As far as public schools go UC is fairly expensive. I also had to buy all of my supplies for my program. Students in any of the design programs will have this problem. I was lucky enough to receive one of the Cincinnatus scholarships and to be in-state. The different colleges do offer many scholarships for second year and above students, which is nice. Co-op programs can also help pay for school.
Am enjoying being here The only downside to UC is that it is far away from where I live. Other then that it is an amazing campus in a close proximity to downtown. There is so much to do everyday. The university and various student groups offer mixers and activities. I joined a professional fraternity, Alpha Rho Chi. We do things like volunteer activities, visit architecture firms, and have family dinners. The students here are very friendly. The Rec center is amazing too. They offer co-ed sports year round and have two pools. I really enjoyed the free workout classes.
Am learning a lot I am a second year student in the architecture program. I have learned so much this year. UC is not like most colleges, I did not have to complete 2 years of general classes to get into the architecture program. I have been learning skills since day one. My professors are a mix of art majors, graduate students, and practicing architects. They offer so many views on each subject I really had a chance to build my own style. My general classes were also great. Professors are willing to spend time outside of class to help their students understand the curriculum.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Dont let yourself get caught up on the rep that UC has against other schools. Although it may not be one of the top schools in the country, we do have some of the top programs such as criminal justice and the special education program as well. I feel that I'm learning a lot here and am getting my moneys worth. Also, I highly recommend that you live in the dorms, its a great way to meet friends and socialize.
Am enjoying being here UC sometimes gets a bad rep for the area that it is in, but as long as you are safe and walk in a group, especially at night, you will be fine. You really are never at risk unless you choose to put yourself in that kinda of situation. Its a really fun campus, and everyone is able to find their group that they fit into.

Tips for prospective students Visit campus! The University of Cincinnati has one of the most beautiful and unique campuses around. I promise it will amaze you. Just recently the University of Cincinnati was ranked by Forbes magazine as one of the top ten most beautiful college campuses in the world. Also apply early. When prospective student apply early they are given an opportunity to be entered into various university scholarships, I can honestly say almost all of my friends receive some sort of scholarships from the university. Lastly, do not be scared of what people say about the safety of the university. The University of Cincinnati is a large, urban university and crime is bound to occur however the university has taken the necessary precautions to provide adequate safety measures to all students. There is Nightwalk (Student led organization were volunteers pick up students and take them to were they need to go), Bearcat Transportation Systems (student bus system that transports students around the greater Cincinnati area), over 200 on campus help phones, and the second largest police force in Hamilton county.
Bang for the buck The University of Cincinnati has the second highest public university tuition for in-state Ohio students. It is still relatively cheap for college tuition but it is going to rise each year because of renovations and budgetary concerns the university is facing. On campus housing is pricy as well because you have to purchase a meal plan. The meal plan is well worth it though because the food is AMAZING! Students can get 132, 164, or 209 “swipes” per quarter, which will allow you into 3 different on campus dining centers. 1 “swipe” gets you all you can eat! Most teachers are concerned with students buying books though. I personally did not spend over$300.00 on text books last year because my teachers offered the books online or at the library. This was VERY helpful!
Am enjoying being here I LOVE being at the University of Cincinnati. Last year I lived on campus and between the state of the art recreational center, delicious food, and spacious residence hall I could have not enjoyed it more! My parents had to beg me to come home one weekend a quarter to see them! The university has over 305 on campus organizations for students to get involved in, club and intramural sports, and a lively nightlife in Mt. Adam’s or in downtown Cincinnati. The professors are so helpful and kind and I have yet to meet a student I do not like. Everybody is down to earth and friendly. Cincinnati is also a great city with many enjoyable places to visit like King’s Island, Newport on the Levy, and Fountain Square.
Am learning a lot I am currently in the Criminal Justice Program at the University of Cincinnati. Rated number one in the nation, I am learning the newest and most unique material the Criminal Justice field has to offer. Most of my professors currently do research within the field and directly bring the research they complete into the classroom. This information is the most up-to-date current information making my degree the best it can be.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This is a difficult statement to make because it is hard to say that UC is great for just certain types of students and not others. As far as academics go, the college shines in engineering, music, performing arts, criminal justice, and DAAP (College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning). If one of the aforementioned fields is something you intend to pursue a career in, then UC may be a good choice for you. UC is also a good school for someone who wants to move out and get the college experience in a city setting without necessarily having to move to a big city. I think the university provides the perfect blend of city life and campus life to make any one's college experience enjoyable. But while I have found this college to be a perfect match for me, you should never discard your options when choosing your school. You could be spending the next 2-7 years there, so take your time and do your research to ensure that you are choosing the right college for YOU.
Tips for prospective students The best piece of advice I can give anyone is to not be afraid to ask questions. Professors set up office hours, TAs set up office hours, and the college provides you with a learning center, all to provide YOU with the resources you need to succeed. College is an entirely different ball game than high school, and if you don't understand something immediately you should always ask. There are no bad questions. Everyone is at college for the same reason - to learn. So do yourself and your classmates a favor, and ask questions. Also, as a new student, Learning Communities are your friend. I was skeptical about joining a learning community, but decided to join anyway, and did not regret it at all. These will provide you with a great way to network with other people in your major and make friends and form support groups. Especially good for those students coming from out of state that will not know anybody coming into college, I would definitely recommend joining a learning community, as I believe it will make your first year much more enjoyable like it did mine.
Bang for the buck The bang for the buck is dependant on the comparison you are making. As far as public schools in Ohio go, UC has a rather pricey tuition, especially if you choose to live on campus. However, going to UC is much cheaper than almost all neighboring private universities, and I would venture to say that the education you would get here at Cincinnati would be equivalent to or greater than the education you would receive at any other school in the area. UC is an accredited research university, where some of the most intelligent engineers and researchers in the nation reside. The school is ranked as one of the nation's top public research universities, and is an institution with a rich history in discovery and innovation. Though tuition may seem rather pricey compared to some of the other public and technical colleges, what UC has over most of them is the cooperative education program. For those majors that offer a coop option, I would highly recommend doing so. It adds an extra year to your schooling, but you get to make pretty good money while in school to help pay for those nasty tuition costs, and even better, you get real world experience to throw on your resume for after you graduate. So even if the school seems a little pricey, the coop program could provide you with a good way to help lower the costs while also helping you decide if your major is really a good fit. I would deam my education here at UC to be worth every penny.
Am enjoying being here Not only is the campus beautiful, but there is never a dull moment in Cincinnati. Here at UC, you get the city experience without necessarily having to live in the midst of an incredibly crowded city like LA or NYC. The campus is small enough that there is never too lengthy of a walk to get from class to class, but large enough that you will never get bored. Within walking distance from campus, there are a plethora of places to eat, as well as multiple bars and social cafes for those boring weekend nights. There are also so many different things to get involved in; if you can name it, there is a club for it. And even if there is not already a club or group supporting your interests, you can take it upon yourself to start one yourself! There are also very active sports teams, and many places to just hang out and have fun around campus so there should always be something to occupy your spare time if you want to get involved. Though a good deal of people claim the school to be in a dangerous area or some similar jargon, the school is not dangerous for anyone who isn't doing what they shouldn't be doing anyway. Sure, it's probably not the safest idea to be walking down Vine Street at 3 A.M. by yourself, but why would you be doing that anyway? As long as you have your wits about you, you should never run into a problem. Cincinnati can definitely supply any prospective student with all the college experience has to offer.
Am learning a lot The learning environment at the University of Cincinnati is phenomenal. Like any school, it has its glitches, but for the most part is very supportive of the needs of the students. I will be entering my fourth year in the engineering program and I have yet to encounter a class where the professor was not more than willing to schedule office hours to accommodate the needs of every student who wished to take advantage of them. And even then if you are having difficulties with your studies, there are teaching assistants for just about any class that are also always willing to help out when they can, and there is also a learning center for necessary tutoring. The academics at UC have been wonderful to me, and there is always a chance to expand on your knowledge and learn something new.

Tips for prospective students I would say to get involved with the campus. You can always cut back after the first semester if you don't feel like you have enough time for everything, but you might as well see what you enjoy doing. Don't be afraid to go out and talk to people. Put yourself into social situations, and join a learning community. It might sound cheesy, but it really dose help you become more welcome in the society of the campus.
Bang for the buck I believe that Cincinnati is worth the amount of money that I am paying for the school overall. The dorm pricing is a bit high in comparison to some places, but overall it is not bad. I believe the amount I am paying for the education I am receiving is easily worth it. Plus, with all the extra activities that is sponsored by the school, along with the state of the art recreation center, it is well worth it. Especially for part of my major in Criminal Justice since it is the 3rd highest ranked college for it in the United States. Along with that, it is also one of the top engineering and art schools around.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love the University of Cincinnati. Coming from a more rural town, the urban feel of the city really was a change that I enjoyed. The city always seems to have something to do. It might seem like the campus is quite large, but you can get anywhere on it in under ten minutes. There are plenty of restaurants, and I absolutely love the recreation center. The only downfall would be the wind in Cincinnati.
Am learning a lot I highly enjoy my classes here at the University of Cincinnati. Not only are the classes academically challenging, but they are interesting. For my Introduction to Criminal Justice class we had multiple speakers come in and give us a real life telling of the field. We also took trips to different departments around Cincinnati, one of them the Police Training Academy. Plus, with being one of the highest ranked research schools in the United States, I have already gotten involved in research assisting to help broaden my view of the psychological field.

Bang for the buck there are a multitude of options for study and university involvement for how much money you pay.
What to do for fun there are many campus socials at the beginning and end of the year and the volunteer opportunities often prove very entertaining. there are also events planned at the tangeman university center such as swing dancing lessons, speed dating, and diversity week.
Food and Dining a variety of food and food places as well as late hours.
Dorm Life there are often dorm thefts as well as the quality of the dorms vary from dorm to dorm.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the uc police department does a good job of patrolling the campus and the perimeter of uc. also, there are help phones that are accessible and there is night walk that will pick you up and take you home if you need.
Clubs and Activities there are hundreds to choose from so it is impossible not to find one to like.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is a lot of open green space on campus to play different sports, watch concerts, and hang out on.
What to do for fun i like to hang out with friends, go downtown, shopping, and to newport on the levee. there is also a really cool art museum in eden park.
Food and Dining the dining hall staff does a good job at keeping a good variety that caters to most everyone's needs.
Dorm Life the dorm conditions are a little crappy. the halls are outdated and kind of dirty.
Academic Rigor courses are challenging and require effort, but we are college students so it should be expected.
Tips for prospective students make sure you go to class and do the required work.
In three sentences i feel that uc is a great school. they do a good job of connecting freshman with on-campus organizations and keeping students on track with their goals. uc is a challenging and rewarding school to attend.

Greek Life Nope
Clubs and Activities Outdoor Adventure Club
Great for these types of students All my friends really like UC, no one that I know has dropped out!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus EVERYONE GOES TO THE FOOTBALL GAMES SO DONT BE LEFT OUT
Bang for the buck My parents pay my tuition and housing, and think its a pretty fair deal. The teachers college is hooked up with local schools so that my volunteer hours are just a bus ride away
What to do for fun Hang out with my friends and go to all the games on campus. Football is the best, then basketball. We also go to Bdubs to watch all the good professional sports games. Sometimes we take a taxi downtown to catch a concert or see the Reds or Bengels
Food and Dining I eat out or cook my own meals all the time. My roomate has a dining card and eats in the dining halls. He says its pretty good.
Dorm Life I don't know -- never lived there cuz we toured the dorms and they were BAD
Academic Rigor Im in Special Ed, so the classes are manageable. The Medical School is ridiculously hard, but has a great reputation in the business. Professors are pretty good for the most part . . . just do your homework to find out the best ones
Tips for prospective students Live in University Place Apartments, overlooking the campus. Lots of cheap & tasty places to eat nearby. The soccer field and football stadium are right out the window!
In three sentences My first choice for college has been a perfect fit! Love the campus size and atmosphere. Students are really friendly and the class workload has been managable.

Categories Comments Food and Dining University of Cincinnati offers a wide variety of dining options for its students. Students can enjoy the freedom of the buffet-style banquet halls, the choices of the health food alternatives, and the vending from many highly-named restaurants.
Dorm Life University of Cincinnati is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. Forbes.com comments on the campuses strong commitment to contemporary architects and a post modern identity and considers it an increasingly beautiful campus. The school boasts a high student diversity rate and offers a large number of high-class suites, dorms and recreation centers.
Academic Rigor University of Cincinnati is ranked one of the top 100 engineering schools in the country (considering there are several hundred schools). With a high student success rate, the college offers a wide variety of internships and distant learning opportunities to students. Many students from UC graduate AS engineers.

Tips for prospective students A tip for prospective students would to be proactive about your learning. Most professors are willing to work with you and don't know that you need extra help if you don't tell them.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The city is known for being quite dangerous but the university has taken many steps to ensure the security of the students. As long as you are smart about where you go and what you do, you should be just fine!
Great for these types of students The University of Cincinnati is great for students who love the city and love having things to do. Everything is withina short walk away.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus During football season, alumni came and tailgate out on Sigma Sigma commons. If you walk around after the game, many people have extra food that they have no problem handing out to kids. They love the school, and hope that you feel the same. In addition, there are many secret places (specifically rooftops) that are great if you need some alone time, or need to get away from distractions when you're doing homework. (Checkout the alumni building, DAAP, the football stadium, and French Hall.)
Bang for the buck It's a little pricey, but if you're the kind of person who loves Cincinnati, it's definitely worth it. The food, however needs improvement, I recommend not getting a meal plan and buying your own groceries. The residence halls are very nice, and worth the money you pay for them.
What to do for fun Obvious there are many typical College parties to go to, but if that's not your style, there are millions other options. You can get involved in a club, sorority, or fraternity. You can hit up the mall in Kenwood, or you can take the campus bus down to Newport for a movie or the aquarium. In the fall, you can support the Bearcats at football games (free to students), basketball in the winter, and in the spring, you can see the Cincinnati Reds play at home.
Food and Dining I'm not going to lie, the campus food is terrible. You've got three traditional-style dining halls, all offering about the same thing on a daily basis. I hope you like Ramen Noodles!
Dorm Life The campus is VERY social. Everyone is willing to meet everyone. I recommend Daniels Hall your freshman year, especially if you don't know anyone. It is the most social dorm and you will meet many life-long friends, boy and girls.
Academic Rigor The classes aren't crazy hard, but they are challenging and take a lot of work. As long as you stay on top of your studies and get to know your teachers, it can be easier to get good marks. But, there are some teachers who just absolutely refuse to give you a good grade, no matter how hard you try. Don't beat yourself up for one B or C every once in a while!
Tips for prospective students Live in a residence hall your first year! It's the way to meet people. Make sure your schedule fits your typical sleeping habits, and make sure you've got your street smarts, stay safe! The University of Cincinnati isn't as dangerous as people say it is, as long as your smart about where you go and who your with. Keep an eye out.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati has a beautiful, compact campus with tons of contemporary infulences. Being fairly large, you do find yourself with foreign teachers and large lecture classes. But, the extra-curricular activities are endless and the campus being right in Cincinnati has a lot of things within walking (or free campus busing) distance that will entertain you in your spare time.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safety on campus is okay, but the area around the university is filled with violent crime.
Great for these types of students If you are a hard-working, motivated student, then UC is for you!
Bang for the buck Tuition is a little pricey, but when you consider all the perks students get and the experience itself, it's well worth it.
What to do for fun The student life center is always putting on fun and exciting events for students to take part in.
Food and Dining There are so many restaurants in and around the campus with many different cuisines to choose from.
Dorm Life Many dorms to choose from.
Academic Rigor UC raises up the best students in their field and challenges each student for personal growth and development.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus and take a tour!
In three sentences A great university! It's a huge campus with a lot of student spirit. The professors really know their stuff.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are so many different clubs that it is easy for someone to find one they like. UC also makes it easy for students to start their own clubs. Also, there are fun places around campus that students can go to with their friends.
Food and Dining UC provides a variety of food sources, with places such as Subway for the healthier eaters.
Dorm Life I've never lived in a dorm, but I've heard great things about UC's dorms, and they are all located in easy places.
Academic Rigor The classes are challenging. CCM is an especially rigorous section of UC.
Tips for prospective students It is a large campus, go and look around. Find all your classrooms before classes start, and always keep in contact with your advisor.
In three sentences UC is a school with a lot of spirit. The students are supplied with valuable resources outside of class to enhance their learning, and there are numerous fun club activities to join in. The school is high quality, and one of the best colleges around.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Our Campus Police patrol the area regularly, but accidents and events do happen, but our university is adamantly engaged with its students and sends e-mails regarding safety.
Greek Life Our Greek Life is lacking in some aspects, but they are thoroughly engaged in our community.
Clubs and Activities Our College of Design puts on the best plays every year!
Great for these types of students The University of Cincinnati is great for the student who enjoys a medium sized campus with great food and great safety.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have a Kwamka festival that celebrates minorities in their entirety! I also started my own Ninjutsu Club.
Bang for the buck I am currently in a financial slump, but my university is willing to work with me to get things paid. I honestly recommend speaking with an adviser before enrolling, just to be clear about what youre getting yourself into.
What to do for fun We have a parkour course, and an excellent bicycle router.
Food and Dining the food is a must have. I advise you to eat at Center Court, even if youre visiting.
Dorm Life I love my roommates!
Academic Rigor The Academic Rigor is manageable, and excellent. Professors are willing to work with you on a personal level that is comparable to a High School environment.
Tips for prospective students I would sincerely advise you to contact our Student Services before enrolling, and before attending, that way you can understand exactly what you're getting yourself into, Both Financially and Academically.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is intellectually engaging. Furthermore, all of my professors love their job, and are happy to see their student apply themselves. In summation, the university has GREAT food, it is a must have should you attend.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The University of Cincinnati is great for students who want to go to a large school, but not be overwhelmed. There is always something to do, so students who want to be involved on campus, this is the perfect school for them. Students who want to major in any type of art should definitely apply for DAAP. Our Engineering program is fantastic as well as our College Conservatory of Music.
Tips for prospective students Get the lowest meal plan. You get a certain amount of swipes and rarely anyone uses all of them. There are so many restaurants around campus that you will want to try so getting the lowest meal plan will help save you money. Get involved around campus, it's almost nearly impossible not to. Take advantage of anything that you see is FREE. If you like football and plan on going to the games, spend the 50 dollars and get season tickets, that way you are guaranteed a ticket and don't have to wait in line. Get involved in a learning community. You'll be surrounded by people who are in your same major and it comes as a huge help when exam week starts getting close.
Bang for the buck You definitely get your money's worth. The gym is included in the tuition and there are many different dining options. There is free transportation to wherever you want to go and most everything is free. Books would probably be the most expensive thing. If you know you're going to have to use the same book more than once, definitely buy the book. I wish the dining halls were cheaper because I have never used all my swipes on my meal plan and the dorms need more lighting that what they have.
Am enjoying being here There is so much to do around campus. There are buses that will take students to downtown Cincinnati, Newport, Kentucky, and also their off campus housing. There is an on campus cinema that plays new movies and our recreation center is open late on weeknights that has two gym courts, two swimming pools and a hot tub, a rock climbing wall, and a full gym facility. There is always something going on around campus. When I first stepped on UC's campus, I knew it was where I wanted to go to school. I was surprised how clean it was and it is absolutely beautiful. There is a lot of architecture that you won't find at any other school.
Am learning a lot I love how all my professors take extra time to really work with me if I need any help. They really take the time to get to know me and understand my work ethic. They answer all my questions and give extra advice on how to improve my work. Some professors are not going to go out of their way to help me if they know I have been skipping class or not putting in a lot of effort.

Will enjoy being here The campus has many activities to participate in and I can't wait to attend them.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UC is great for students who are looking for a small, yet plentiful campus. There is a lot to do and many people who you can become friends with, yet the campus isn't huge like Ohio State University. The professors are great and there are plenty of ways to get help with your academics.
Tips for prospective students Don't be scared to meet new people. There are thousands of new people you will encounter at the University of Cincinnati, so a person can't be shy. It's time to step outside the bubble and make new friends.
Bang for the buck University of Cincinnati isn't a relatively expensive school, but it might be more than someone is willing to pay. If you like all of the things I listed that there is to do, and what I wrote about the academic learning experience, then UC is a bang for the buck!!!
Am enjoying being here University is a great campus and there are lots of activities to get involved in. There are sports games to attend, sports you can play for fun or on a team (such as the football team), swimming pool, workout equipment, restaurants, shopping, a fun night life, and much more.
Am learning a lot University of Cincinnati is a great campus. The teachers try their best to do what they can to help the students. They have office hours for students to attend and will answer e-mail questions as fast as they can. There are also other sources that can be utilized to better your learning experience at UC. There is tutoring, supplemental instruction sessions, and some classes have teaching assistants that will help you with your learning experience. Overall, it's hard to fail with all the resources provided at UC.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you like a urban setting, don't mind large classes and are up for some adventuring around the city, this is the school for you!
Tips for prospective students Explore! The city has so much to offer. Although it might be scary or unsafe to venture around certain places, it is worth it to go on a walk or ride a bike around the city. There is so much to do downtown from fountain square, coffee shops, and Findlay Market to hanging out in northern KY.
Bang for the buck Tuition is a little high somewhere around $10,000 per year. I've taken a few classes nearby at Cincinnati State, and that has definitely helped lower the cost some, while still obtaining my degree from UC. Be smart about where you buy your books, the bookstore on campus and Dubois are usually the most expensive. I've found amazon to be a great source for textbooks, usually around half the price.
Am enjoying being here I love the city of Cincinnati! It has a lot to offer from the zoo, to restaurants, movies, bars, art museums, Newport and Covington. Although the school is located near a not so nice neighborhood, Over the Rhine, there are plenty of good areas located around the campus, such as Clifton gaslight and Northside.
Am learning a lot I am definitely learning a lot at UC. My general ed classes were somewhat interesting sometimes not, but as I get more into classes in my major, Food & Nutrition, I am really excited about the topics and courses. My professors are all easy to talk to and are available to any student needing help.

Our SOLs were enthusiastic and made it easy to participate and meet new people, and the incoming freshmen were friendly as well. Categories Comments Great for these types of students Engineering Music, Theater Students (CCM) Arts (Architecture, Design, Art, Fashion, Urban Planning, etc)
Tips for prospective students Get involved on campus through student organizations and activities. I know that everyone says that, but I am apart of the UC Bearcat Marching Band and I came to school on the first day knowing a ton of people. It's great to walk around and see people you know. Also, live on campus for at least the first year. Interacting with people on your floor and in your building gives you a way a ton of new people that aren't necessarily in your major.
Bang for the buck Being an out-of-state student, tuition is significantly higher. However, I believe it is totally worth it. There are many scholarships that you can apply for and everyone makes you feel welcome.
Am enjoying being here I love the campus, especially the football stadium that you can sit in whenever you want. There are plenty of things to do around campus every week.
Am learning a lot Being an engineering student, I have had 18 credit hours almost every quarter. Which sounds like a lot, but it's not as bad as you think. It keeps you busy and you learn a lot.

Tips for prospective students Live in the dorms the first year! You will meet so many great people and get a chance to experience the campus.
Bang for the buck I think Uc's tuition is reasonable. It's easy to apply for scholarships and to get financial aide.
Am enjoying being here I love Cincinnati, I think its a great city with a lot of different things to do. UC is one of the prettiest campus in the United States. I love that you have old building and the new modern builds intertwined. I makes the campus so unique.
Am learning a lot I was happy to find that most of the professors at UC really know their stuff and they are willing to help if you don't understand them on the first go. Categories Comments Great for these types of students This college is great for students who are looking for an academic environment that still allows for lots of fun on and off campus! It's a great place to meet lifetime friends and make connections for the future, and the campus is so diverse that anyone can find a place they fit. Good luck with your college search!
Tips for prospective students If you are thinking about attending the University of Cincinnati, I would highly recommend visiting the campus at least once to get a feel for the atmosphere. This was the true deciding factor for me. Once I stepped foot on the campus, I knew I would love it there, and I hope you have the same experience in your college search.
Bang for the buck The university is one of the cheaper schools in Ohio, but that doesn't make it less reputable. The faculty and staff here are really great and willing to help you with problems you might come across. They take the time to know students on a personal level if that's the preference of the student. The campus has its own police force for the students safety. The only complaint I have about this school is their cost of housing, which is pricey. The good news is, there are limitless off-campus housing options after the freshman year, which I have taken advantage of.
Am enjoying being here Cincinnati is a brilliant and fun city to live in. It's full of things to do and places to go. The campus itself is also extraordinary, with limitless resources and study areas as well as places to eat and hang out with friends!
Am learning a lot At the University of Cincinnati, professors take the time to get to know their students. I was surprised at this fact because of the size of the university, but even my advisor knows me by name outside of his office.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is very safe, but Clifton, the neighborhood where the school is located is notoriously violent, and there are a lot of reported robberies and thefts. Not for the faint of heart.
Clubs and Activities I'm not involved in any campus groups, but I'm constantly asked to join them by classmates.
Great for these types of students All sorts of folks, really. It's quite diverse.
Bang for the buck Tuition is a little outrageous, and they really kill you (as with most schools, I suspect), with book prices and parking passes for commuters.
What to do for fun Sports games, concerts on and off campus, Art showings, coffee shops with friends, etc.
Food and Dining The on-campus spots to eat aren't anything to write home about, but the surrounding areas have a lot of great, independent restaurants and coffee shops that cater to students.
Dorm Life I don't live in a dorm, but I've heard mostly good things about them.
Academic Rigor This varies from professor to professor. One 300 level course may be significantly more difficult than another with a different prof..
Tips for prospective students Learn as much as you can about the school before showing up for your first day of class. Make a friend who is already a student, and have them show you the ropes. The school is big, so it can be overwhelming for first year students.
In three sentences University of Cincinnati is a great school located in a very youthful, urban area. The professors are intelligent, well-informed, and helpful to students, and the campus life is great. It is diverse and progressive.

Categories Comments What to do for fun get into as many honor societies and clubs as possible, the emails will pour in. regardless, walk around and feel out the area if you don't have a car. if you do have a car, god bless you, the parking garages are quite the bang for your buck. i just hope you get an adequate apartment. there are several pubs in the area and plenty of food options, look up the parks as well. burnett woods used to be uc, and has plenty to do and see as well as the adjacent ludlow avenue. get in the know, subscribe to local news letters and such online.
Food and Dining although the tuition bill reflects the cost, you are technically covered for about 5 meals a day, take advantage. counteract your inevitable freshman 15 with utilizing the gym.
Dorm Life it's great doing something new! just keep your head about you.
Academic Rigor depending on your background the work load isn't that much but not to be taken lightly. in my major, urban planning, studio work is strenuous at first to weave people out but you get used to it and eventually becomes family. if internships are available or required for your major take full advantage of it. nothing beats a strong resume and recommendation letters from your employees. also, get out of cincinnati if you can. you will learn a lot - not only about the firm, but about yourself.
Tips for prospective students take advantage of the dorms. even though it may feel like high school after a while, the connections you make and the food court are the few things to respect.
In three sentences the campus itself is a 2 mile squared area, making it very accessible to many activities; about 15 minutes tops. there is almost anything you can do on campus before ten; check out the catskellar pub, variety of restaurants, work out at the gym or grab some starbucks before class. however, outside of the campus there are limited things to do after hours besides house parties at the moment - there is a major multi-use development ready to begin in the next year.

Categories Comments What to do for fun the fun is non stop at this campus. if you want to do something, there is bond to be a group somewhere on this campus that does it, and if not, start your own! there is always something to do on the weekends and even during the weeks for that much needed break from homework!
Food and Dining while there food can get a little boring, their dining halls have a great atmosphere. there is usually something good to eat if you look hard enough, and if not there are always college kid staples, like pizza! :)
Dorm Life everyone is so welcoming and fun when you live in the dorms! i came to this school not knowing many people at all, but i met so many new friends and people that i can have fun with! there is never a dull moment living in the dorms on this campus!
Academic Rigor since i am a neuroscience major the classes themselves are difficult. but if you are willing to apply yourself and seek help when you need it, it is really manageable.
Tips for prospective students do not be afraid to put yourself out there. get involved in something you have never thought to try, cause at university of cincinnati they have it all. do not hesitate to ask question and talk to professors if you do not understand something! that is what they are here for!
In three sentences it is a great school with many opportunities. if you are willing to put yourself out there and willing to get involved it has so much to offer. the academics are amazing and the cocurricular outside of class are even better!

Categories Comments Campus Safety even though the university is in a not so great part of town, it stays pretty quiet. ive never had a problem with safety and i feel comfortable walking around by myself at night. of course the occaisional robbery report comes through your emial but its nothing to worry about
Greek Life not in a fraternity
Clubs and Activities havent joined a club
Great for these types of students hard working, well off, and closed minded. most people here have money but they still know how to work hard. however, most of the people are closed minded and arent willing to accept new things. ive noticed most races stick with in their own race, and thats not something i enjoy
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus i'd suggest going to a football game. it has a great atmosphere. and of course there are a lot of random traditions like there is at any college.
Bang for the buck the university is quite greedy in my opinion, total expenses in all are approximately over 20,000 a year, meal swipes can only be used in dining halls, and scholarships are hard come by
What to do for fun go out with friends, play sports on the varsity feilds, or maybe just watch tv
Food and Dining the food is good, but you'll be craving a home cooked meal soon enough.
Dorm Life dorm life is good for the most part, but some times disagreements may arise
Academic Rigor the academics are challenging but not overwhelming
Tips for prospective students go to class because the professors teach everything you need to know for tests and homework.
In three sentences the university of cincinnati is a good learning instituion academic wise. i personally don't like the social aspect of the university, the student body seems to stick with their own groups; however most people like it here. i'd give the university an a in academics and programs, but a d in the social aspect

Categories Comments Campus Safety alright. the area is not super safe, but uc does a good job of lighting the campus and having lots of police officers on duty. you will gain street smarts by the end of your time at uc.
Clubs and Activities awesome, there are endless numbers of clubs. if your interested in a particular activity, get involved with the club, you will meet tons of new friends :)
Great for these types of students enjoy an urban environment have some street smarts don't mind large classes your freshman year
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there are tons of great quiet study spots in many of the libraries particularly langsum, erc and msb library. you just have to do a little exploring :)
Bang for the buck the tuition is worth it. but the cost for on campus housing is quite high compared to what you can find in the surrounding areas.
What to do for fun tons! there are many art museums, movie theaters, bars, nightclubs, and sporting events going on everyday. that is probably the greatest perk of living in such a big city. there are many neighborhoods that offer different activities: clifton/gaslight district (esquire movie theater, indian food, restaurants, coffee shops), mt. adams (tons of bars), downtown (bars, clubs, museums, music), newport (bars, aquarium), clifton heights (bars, music)
Food and Dining uc has many good options for dining. besides the 3 dining halls for those with a meal plan, there is also tuc. they offer sushi, pizza hut, chic-fil-a, and burger king. if you are not in the mood for any of those options there are countless options in the surrounding neighborhood blocks.
Dorm Life i lived in daniels hall which was very crowded (4 people to a room). i heard that there were cockroaches in the past and there were constantly people burning ramen noodles or popcorn in their rooms and setting the fire alarm off at 2am. obnoxious to deal with, but part of dorm life at uc. on the plus side, it was close to classes and dining halls.
Academic Rigor college is hard, simple as that. some of the introductory classes your freshman year may not be too difficult. but as you get into your degree you will have to put in time and effort if you want to do well.
Tips for prospective students take a campus tour and see if you like not just the campus, but the surrounding neighborhoods. keep in mind that uc is big and you will be walking a lot or biking or taking the shuttles or buses, unless you have $500 for a parking pass each quarter.
In three sentences uc is a great school for students who enjoy a large urban campus with a wide variety of students and professors. although uc is not in the safest part of town, the university does a great job of making students feel safe. the city and university offer great transportation options for getting around the university, surrounding neighborhoods and downtown area.

Categories Comments What to do for fun there are countless activities to get involved in. there are recreational and intramural teams where you can make friends and engage in friendly competition. uc also has an excellent recreational facility with countless machines for working out and staying fit along with work out classes taught by friendly student instructors.
Food and Dining the food is excellent and is as if you are eating at home.
Dorm Life the dorms are extremely safe, as long as you stay smart and use common knowledge on safety such as, locking your door.
Tips for prospective students a major tip for prospective students is to not be nervous about starting school here because the environment is not intimidating in any way and the first day is easy to overcome without having to feel any anxiety. from then on, you will be able to make friends, get in touch with your professors, and feel comfortable in class lectures and discussions.
In three sentences the university of cincinnati is a very welcoming and informative environment where i am always able to locate any building or sources i am seeking. my advisor is always available when i need to discuss my class options and the plan i need to follow in order to be successful in my career path. the professors enjoy teaching and helping us to learn and understand the material in order to receive the best test results possible, while still challenging us.

Categories Comments What to do for fun the rec center is great with many intramural sports constantly going on. also there are countless clubs to get involved with, enough for anyone to find something they like. i personally suggest mountaineering club and the rock wall!
Tips for prospective students talk to your advisers and be sure to schedule meetings with them long enough before class scheduling time. also talk to your professors and go over tests and questions with them; the staff at uc hands on and willing to help.
In three sentences the advisers i have come into contact with have been amazingly helpful. so far i have thoroughly enjoyed my uc experience, not only in regards to classes but also the campus life. also the online resources uc provides are extremely useful and i feel confident that when the time comes these resources will assist in finding me a possible job.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus itself is very safe but the surrounding area and neighborhood isn't the safest of places. the uc and city police do a great job of keeping everything under control and let the students know of any potentially harmful information and seek tips on crimes.
Greek Life there are over 20 fraternities and sororities at the university of cincinnati with about 5 to 10 percent of students participating.
Clubs and Activities there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of opportunities available at the university of cincinnati for all sorts of people to get involved in.
Food and Dining there are three cafeterias available with various eateries on and surrounding campus for plenty of variety.
Dorm Life at the moment uc has seven dorms but are in the process of renovating two other dorms. four of the dorms are almost entirely composed of first year students.
Academic Rigor depending on what your major is classes can be tough and take a lot of time to study for each week. at the same time there are some people who have relatively easy majors and classes and can do whatever they want on any given day.
Tips for prospective students try your best to get your applications in before december so you are eligible for more of the scholarship opportunities that aren't available later in the registration process.
In three sentences the university of cincinnati is a beautiful campus with even better people. there are all kinds of people ranging from punk rock skaters to jocks and everything imaginable in between. if you want a quality education in a relatively large city the university of cincinnati is right for you.

Categories Comments Campus Safety its pretty cool mostly just stay smart and play it safe.
Bang for the buck i think it is a great value besides the fact that if your in engineering be prepared to never understand your foreign professors.
What to do for fun there is alot, and if you like parties/clubs there is alot of that. if you like to play intramural sports, there is alot of that. there is alot to do period.
Food and Dining its pretty bad, there is one good cafeteria on campus and one that is ok, but both of them are only open mon- fri, leaving you to fend for yourself on the weekends on eat at the worst cafeteria on campus.
Dorm Life i have lived in turner hall (honors/athletes dorm) this whole school year, but i ended up spending most of my time in calhoun because of the great social life over there.
Academic Rigor its pretty difficult at times (im a engineering major) but the teachers tend to be pretty forgiving if you email them or speak to them about any issues you are having. engineers, be prepared to have max credit hours at all times!
Tips for prospective students be ready to hate the food services a couple weeks into school, there are lots of great restaurants around campus so also be ready to spend alot of money on food. you will meet alot fo people if you stay in one of the freshmen dorms, especially calhoun.
In three sentences uc is a big school, its full of great people, the cafeteria food is horrible most of the time.

Categories Comments Food and Dining center court is the main dining hall and the only one open on weekends and major holidays. the people who work there do a great job and the breakfast crew especially enjoys what they do and coming to work. it's also in the middle of everything. stadium view is open for lunch and dinner and looks over nipert stadium. they do carry out (and are the only dining hall which does) which is great for when its nice out or you want to eat in class, your room, etc.
Dorm Life this really depends on where you live. turner is probably one of the best dorms since it is filled with the athletes and honors students, which are typically of a higher caliber. dabney is near the bottom of the list. very party oriented, striving to create a fun and friendly atmosphere. university park apartments (upa) combines dorm and apartment living, since you have an apartment but still have ras and strict guidelines.
Academic Rigor for the fact it is a state school and not a private, ivy league the education is amazing. but in general it is a good education, better depending on certain majors. for most majors the freshman courses are very similar, with massive classes. anything after your first year is a complete different experience.
Tips for prospective students go to class, always. don't buy the textbook until the first week of class; not all teachers use the book, or you can get it from the library. meal plan: aim for the 2 meals/day plan. tas (teaching assistants) are almost always unhelpful and sometimes are confusing. get involved.
In three sentences great campus: beautiful, easy to get around, and interesting. decent professors: some lecture hall style classes are overwhelming but other professors really work with you, especially after freshman year. there are a lot of activities and groups to get involved in.

Categories Comments Campus Safety unfortunately, the university is located in a not so good section of town and you must take precautions and not venture off campus alone.
Great for these types of students music and theater majors
Bang for the buck if you're out of state, the tuition is unbelievably high but for the conservatory program, it's will be worth it in the long run.
Food and Dining the food on campus is actually pretty good and just off campus are a lot of really good little restaurants.
Academic Rigor i'm in the music conservatory so the program is extremely rigorous.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Some programs rank nationally as some of the best, while combining a world class campus and a low in-state tuition rate.
What to do for fun There are options all around from cafes, to a trip to the movies. Anything is possible with a city of possibilites around campus, one of my favorite things near by is the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
Food and Dining You use swipes for meals which get you into the dining facilities. You can stay as long as you want and eat as much as you would like.
Dorm Life Personal desks, lofted beds, and wardrobes provide enough space for all of your personal belongings.
Academic Rigor I personally don't know much about the intensity of the classes here but from what I have heard you learn a lot and have opportunities to work out problems before they become issues and limit your academic progress.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus if you are unsure about an urban campus, you might just change your mind with all the green space and the open campus design.
In three sentences The campus is absolutely stunning for an urban campus. The Food is adequate for a college student, definitely a step up from the high school cafeteria. The dorms are somewhat small but with personal touches from home they appear rather welcoming.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are always activities going on on campus. You have the rec center where you can workout, play basketball, volleyball, racquetball, ping pong or swim. Also there are always intramurals going on so you can feed that competitive spirit inside of you. And just off of campus there are plenty of restaurants for you to choose from so that you always have a variety and not the same old thing.
Food and Dining The food that they provide is of a wide variety, and if they don't have it made they will make it for you if you ask. They have food for the most carnivorous person to a vegetarian. Also they have a cafe for the late night people who like to eat on those late night study sessions.
Dorm Life Dorm life is very exciting! There are always something to do or something going on to keep you involved. The people you meet and the relationships that form because of dorm life here are priceless.
Academic Rigor The classes are very insightful and you learn a lot with each class. The classes are made to be challenging in a way to make you expand your knowledge. The think I like is that you can pick your classes and you can work your classes around your schedule if your enroll early enough.
Tips for prospective students Get well acquainted with your academic advisor/counselor, the more involved you are with them the better your academic success at the university.
In three sentences The Universities architecture makes it one of the better looking colleges that I have been to. The campus isn't too small but it also isn't too big. Everything is just walking distance away so you don't feel like you have to hike anywhere.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Clifton may not have the best track record of safety; however, police protection has been increased this past year. There are safety spots with free emergency phones to make a call to anyone if you feel threatened. UC offers a shuttle service that runs at all hours so you do not have to walk by yourself in the dark. I feel safe at UC.
What to do for fun The basketball and football games really are a great place to meet people and have a great time!
Food and Dining The dining halls are some of the best. There are plenty to choose from and they have delicious food!
Dorm Life Some dorms are a little old, but they are currently building (and just built) some very nice dorms that surround the campus.
Academic Rigor I feel that I have been gaining an exceptional education at UC. The class sizes vary from small-large; which ever you prefer. Either way, the professors care and want to see you succeed.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! UC offers so many things that you can be part of. Club sports, different fraternities/sororities, intramural teams, teaching assistants, among others. There's something for everybody.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati has a great atmosphere, great people, great professors, and great faculty. All of my questions have been answered by someone and I'm going to miss this place when I graduate.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus In the early 1900's, a Physics professor would spend his spring afternoons grading papers outside of the Geology-Physics building. He soon realized that he was beginning to hear voices echoing, but when he searched for a source, saw no one around him. After years of study and almost maddening fear that he was crazy, the professor discovered the unusual reason for the noises: Echo Point. Now visitors can experience this phenomenal and eerie spot facing the College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning. One must only stand in the correct spot, and talk, only to hear their echo off of the many buildings!
What to do for fun The University of Cincinnati is superbly located in the middle of Cincinnati. The attractions within driving or busing distance include: downtown Cincinnati, the Riverfront and Newport Kentucky, Kings Island, multiple malls and shopping areas, movie theaters, restaurants, night life and educational centers such as the Freedom Center and Cincinnati Museum Center.
Food and Dining With three dining halls, the University of Cincinnati has some of the greatest and award wining food on it's campus. The three dining halls feature multiple food options, such as: build your own salad or sandwich, grill station, home meals station, stir-fry, vegetarian, gluten free and pizza station. The dining halls also take it a step further by featuring healthy menu options in their displays and having information posted about their food and good eating habits.
Dorm Life The University of Cincinnati has some of the most quality dorm rooms in the country. There is a wide range of rooms available; from suite style with your own personal bathroom to the traditional double occupancy room. If you ever have the opportunity to visit the University of Cincinnati, you will see even the most common freshman hall has large rooms that spaciously fit two people, large windows, a beautiful view of downtown Cincinnati and unbeatable resources such as study floors, game lounges, Resident Advisers and laundry facilities.
Academic Rigor At the University of Cincinnati, there are multiple class levels that test your own personal academic ability. If you prefer harder classes that demand time and energy, you will find them, but if you prefer to take a more relaxing and enjoyable class, there are those options too! From our personal scheduling program, you have the ability to customize your workload and classes each semester!
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of the numerable offices and advisers available for you! Whether it may be the Honors office, the office of preprofessional activities, the Cooperative Education program, or the Exploratory major program, the University of Cincinnati has some of the best resources available for it's students during their course as a student.
In three sentences In three sentences, the University of Cincinnati is a higher institution of learning that allows students to expand their wealth of knowledge beyond their imagination. Categories Comments Campus Safety Despite what people may say, UC is quite a safe campus. There are areas off campus that you shouldn't travel through at night, but you'll be fine if you have any amount of common sense.
Greek Life Our Greek Life is a relatively small (roughly 5%), but extremely active group of people. I truly believe that the best decision that I have made while in college was to choose to become a part of Greek Life. Greek Life teaches you so much about yourself as it helps you to become a better leader and a better individual. Go Greek!
What to do for fun Playing sports on either the football or soccer fields, or Sheakley lawn (an open turf area for students to hangout on). There is a movie theater in TUC (the building right next to the football field) that screens new releases for cheap (or sometimes free). Also, we have an amazing rec center that is free to students, and if all else fails, you can always hangout on main street with your friends.
Food and Dining The food courts have a wide variety of foods to choose from and are quite convenient.
Dorm Life There are plenty of activities and events for students living in the dorms. Who wouldn't want to live next to all of their soon-to-be best friends
Academic Rigor The professor here are, for the most part, great teachers and are willing to help you out to the best of their abilities. UC also provides a vast array of top notch majors and minors to fit your needs.
Tips for prospective students When buying a meal plan, keep in mind that you are almost definitely not going to eat all of your meals. Go for the cheapest option to save some money.
In three sentences A beautiful campus with world class professors (for the most part) and a vibrant student body. The campus is reasonably small (no more than a 10 min walk from any point on campus to another) for the vast amount of activities and such it has to offer. I hope to see you prowling around this campus soon enough, Go Bearcats!

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are often activities on campus to attend. I joined a sorority and always have something to do.
Food and Dining Market pointe is way better than Centercourt.
Tips for prospective students Join clubs, even if they sound boring. Explore downtown because there are so many amazing little shops. Don't rely on other people, you are totally capable of setting up everything yourself.
In three sentences This school never ceases to amaze me. The city is the perfect size to explore and never get bored. Cincinnati's plentiful opportunities and activities has made my college career.

What to do for fun There are always on going events on campus, as well as off campus within the surrounding areas.
Academic Rigor Very!
Tips for prospective students Participate in various on campus activities, such as sporting and other entertainment events. Get acquainted with the academic advising team and staff members.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is pretty safe, as long as you're not an idiot. The only people who have trouble are people walking home by themselves at 3am and not paying attention to their surroundings. There are also campus vans/buses that will pick up drunk people and drop them off so they don't have to drive or worry about being mugged on their way home. Best advice-always walk with groups late at night and don't be stupid.
Greek Life I wasn't involved in it, but it's pretty decent.
Clubs and Activities I wasn't too much into the Greek life, but there is a nice Greek Life here. There are also plenty of extracurricular clubs and activities to get involved in. I wish there was an archery club though.
Great for these types of students It can be pretty good for commuters if you don't mind paying $250 for a parking pass or if you get there early enough to find the free parking spots. If you don't have a car, it's great to because everything you need to get to (classes, home, grocery store) are within walking distance. If you need to go shopping at Target, you can take the bus there or even downtown.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus My friends and I started a Nerf Wars club that teams up and shoots at each other on Fridays around 10p in Zimmer Hall.
Bang for the buck You get a LOT of perks for what you pay. Though I would like to know if I could still get the same perks or trade in a few to pay less. I don't need a lazy river in my gym and don't care to use it. So if I could pay less to NOT use it, that would be awesome- All I need is a locker room and a shower. The health care is pretty stellar. If you have the student insurance, appointments cost nothing and prescriptions are very affordable.
What to do for fun If you are under 21 with no car, you can always walk down to Ludlow and go to the Esquire Theater or find a campus party. If you have a car, there's a mall and theater just across the river - about 15 minutes away.
Food and Dining They used to have a Wendy's on campus and replaced it with a Burger King (which is a downgrade in my opinion) but the Marketplace dining hall has a lot of healthy and tasty foods. You can even make your own stir fry.
Dorm Life Dorm life is dorm life. I would avoid Calhoun if you prefer to NOT be woken up in the middle of the night by a fire drill.
Academic Rigor The engineering programs are very rigorous. Once you get through the weed-out classes, they only get more difficult. The good news is that lazy people that don't put forth a lot of effort are less likely to have the same degree as you.
Tips for prospective students Time management is the MOST important skill you will need for any college. Also, make sure that you are knowledgeable on what you are required to take or not take to be more efficient in earning your degree.
In three sentences I would rate this university an 9 out of 10. It has a lot of wonderful perks, such as the student health care and the on-campus gym facilities. I only wish that there was more free or cheaper (metered) parking instead of all expensive garages.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck it is better to over to a community college first and take all the basic class and then transfer here. For example it cost 2,500 for two classes that you could take at Cincinnati State for a little over 1,000.
What to do for fun The university has over hundred different clubs and groups that you can join. They have a huge wreck center.
Food and Dining the food is very tasteless and expensive. It is better to pack your food.
Dorm Life from what i heard, student paid 2,000 to stay in a place with roaches.
Academic Rigor The teachers will help out the student if they see you tring. Go to their office.
Tips for prospective students All student should take advantage of the tutors, libraries and resources that the university provides. After all, you all are paying for them. In addition, keep track of your receipt, the university will try to take advantage you, if given the chance.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati has a great resource center that help their students achieve their goals at the university. However, they are constantly make financial aid errors. Also, they are super expensive and they are increasing their tuition.

Categories Comments Campus Safety A lot of people do not think that the University of Cincinnati is a safe campus because of it's location, but they are wrong. It is rare that a crime is actually committed on campus. The campus is lined with blue help phones that connect you directly the to UC Police at the push of a button in case there is a situation where a student does not feel safe. UCPD are constantly patrolling campus and the off campus surrounding areas, which are also patrolled by Cincinnati Police as well.
Greek Life Greek Life is big at UC. Whether it be a social fraternity/sorority or a professional one, there are plenty of options to chose from. Greek Life is responsible for a lot of service activities and random student activities that happen on campus.
Clubs and Activities Cincinnati offers so many clubs and activities for students to get involved in on campus. As of last year, there were over 300 organizations. Everyone is always welcome to join any of them, so it is extremely easy to get involved on campus.
Bang for the buck Cincinnati is not that expensive when compared to Ohio State, Ohio University, or Miami University. It offers so many nationally ranked programs at a much cheaper price than a lot of surrounding schools.
What to do for fun There is always something going on at or near the University of Cincinnati since it is a short 5 minute drive from campus to the city. Campus hosts a lot of student activities and concerts throughout the year for students who can't get off campus. There is also a cheap movie theater on campus for those students. There is always something going on in the city for those students who chose to venture that way. There are many small shops, museums, stores, restaurants, parks and more all over the downtown area. It is also a short drive to Kentucky (10 minutes max). The Newport area has bars, restaurants, shops, and a theater to offer.
Food and Dining Cincinnati's main campus has 3 fairly large dining halls for it's students. Centercourt is open late and always has a great variety of food. Marketpointe is the most popular dining hall and tends to have an even better selection than Centercourt. Lastly, Stadium View is known to be the best on campus dining hall. It is the smallest of the three and isn't open as long as the other two, but always has the best food options.
Dorm Life There are a couple different types of dorms at UC. There are a few with co-ed floors and there are some with single-sex floors. There are suite styled dorms and then there are traditional styled rooms. Regardless of what you choose, dorm life at Cincinnati is a fun experience. Not to mention, all of the dorms are located right in the college town area, so there is plenty of entertainment near any of the buildings.
Academic Rigor Like any college, the difficulty of classes depends mostly on the major of your choosing and the classes you choose to take outside of that major. Most professors want to challenge you and make sure you are working hard to learn everything you need to in their classes. If you work hard and spend time focusing on your studies, you will do fine.
Tips for prospective students Cincinnati can be intimidating at first because of it's student body size and location of campus, but if you take the time to join organizations, meet new people, and explore everything the city has to offer you, you will feel right at home here.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is everything and more you could want from a university. Even though there are 20,000+ students enrolled, everyone on campus and in organizations are so welcoming and friendly and make your time there feel like a more intimate experience. Not to mention, all of Cincinnati's academic programs are outstanding.

Food and Dining More and more places opening up around campus all of the time.
Academic Rigor One of the best schools for Biological sciences. The teachers are awesome and able to answer any questions.
Tips for prospective students I enjoy taking some classes at the Blue Ash branch. They are the same classes, just smaller class sizes which really makes it personal

Categories Comments Campus Safety The police does a WONDERFUL job keeping up with Campus safety. The University of Cincinnati Police force is the 2nd largest police force in the State of Ohio so they are huge. It is a rather bad neighborhood surrounding campus but they email us and tell us whenever ANYTHING happens at all. On campus for the most part is safe. I remember one robbery in my last 2 years on campus and it was almost off of campus. There was a shooting on the Medical Campus but that is WAYYY far away (about an 8 minute drive) from main campus.
Greek Life Greek life is not a huge part of UC which for me I like. Many schools have Greek Life as part of everything and this is not the case. BUT it does exist and there are very very cool houses and one that is brand new and just built.
Clubs and Activities There is SO many clubs at UC. Check out their website to see the list.
Great for these types of students Creative and Athletic. UC has an incredible creative scene and athletic scene. The diversity of UC still amazes me. The different ethic backgrounds and people that come from all over the world to UC.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Naked Run. It raises money for charity. There are SO many clubs. And if you want to start one, UC is the one to start them. They have the football field, baseball field, soccer field, practice field, tennis, etc.. All open late and you can play frisbee or join a game that is playing. Also, if you're into fitness UC's rec center is unbelievable! Nippert Stadium also just started the Stairs Run where you run the stairs for charity. This is fun just to do for fun or fitness. As always, free football and basketball tickets for students as well! You have to be quick when ordering online, but chances are good that you'll get them!
What to do for fun UC always has activities. Free concerts for students, $1 movies that are current releases. The awesome part is if you want to go Downtown Cincinnati they have a shuttle on the weekends free for students that will take you down there. There is TONS of stuff to do down there
Food and Dining There are TONS of on campus food places to eat. There are 2 Starbucks, PapaJohns, Sushi, GoldStar (Cincinnati Chili), Chick-Fil-A, and Burger King actually on campus along with 2 dining halls.. Off campus there are TONS of Pizza places, bars, and other eateries.
Dorm Life It's a great community just a little run down. They are making improvements.
Academic Rigor It is tough. I will say that the toughness depends on the professor you have, but all of my professors with the exception of 2 have given a difficult curriculum but it's amazing how much I have actually learned thus far.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus. Not only the main campus, but the surroundings. If you are comfortable around the city, then this is for you! The actual campus is beautiful and continually ranks high in the nations most beautiful, BUT the surrounding area is run down. They have been making it better and UC has been buying bad neighborhoods and turning them into UC, housing, or restaurants for the students. It is a great place!
In three sentences Beautiful Campus. Knowledgable Professors. Around a high crime neighborhood. Lots of eateries, shopping, the nightlife is a blast.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Despite common misconception, the campus at UC is incredibly safe. There are emergency phones located everywhere across campus and the university has it's own police department. In conjunction with CPD, UCPD is working to make not only campus, but the surrounding areas a safe and fun place to be a student.
Greek Life There are many options for social and business sororities and fraternities.
Clubs and Activities Student organizations at the university are exceptional. Again, being a large, urban university the options are seemingly endless. You can get involved locally or have the option to travel around the country or even the world.
Great for these types of students Artistic, nerdy, creative, professional, ext. There are some many options available to students at this university, there is truly something for everyone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Before football games, the band runs down the stadium stairs down on to the field creating quite the spectacle.
Bang for the buck According to USA today, UC has the lowest total cost of attendance for any public 4-year school in Ohio. A degree from the University of Cincinnati is a valuable investment, regarded by many employers across the nation. A true world class education.
What to do for fun UC athletics are doing great, and are always fun to go see. There are numerous student groups for getting involved with you passions. Additionally, there is a thriving night life around campus, downtown, and just across the river in Newport.
Food and Dining Two great options for cafeteria options, as well as, several restaurants and fast food options located on campus.
Dorm Life Several freshman dorms located close to the academic buildings. Additional on campus housing available for honors, upperclassmen, and athletes.
Academic Rigor Accredited state university with many distinguished alumni.
Tips for prospective students Take a campus tour! The campus has one of the most architecturally diverse campuses in the world. On the tour visit you prospective college and talk to a dean to get a good feel for the university.

Categories Comments What to do for fun You can work out, rock climb, and swim in the pool at the rec center. There are also christian groups that hold activities that you can participate in.
Food and Dining Marketpoint at Siddall has been voted the best dining choice on campus for the past 2 years. It provides a great variety of food to choose from and great desserts. It will be open 7 days a week this coming school year. Centercourt is open late until midnight to accommodate night owl students and they have a wide variety of food choices as well.
Dorm Life The facilities are kept clean and they are updated. The rooms are outdated and all of the heating/cooling units are controlled by the university, so the temperature often is uncomfortable. There is a great study lounge for use by all students in each dorm. There are vending machines available for use during late night studying.
Academic Rigor The math and history departments are very good departments. The science department is somewhat flawed in the style of teaching that the department uses. I heard from my friends that the physics department is also flawed in the style of teaching that the department uses.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to read your textbooks and attend class. Study a lot to prepare for tests. Be sure to have a loud alarm clock.
In three sentences The university is a beautiful campus with lots of activities to participate in. The classes are in close proximity to one another. The feel of the campus is close knit and broad at the same time.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Join a recreational team there like soccer, kickball, ect. Go to the famous parks around the city and in Hyde Park. Try Kings Island or the Newport Aquarium. And Riverbend is a great place to go for concerts.
Food and Dining They have re-vamped the area and there are many new things for students to eat. Try Adrioticos. Everyone knows where its at.
Dorm Life I have heard Dorm life for the first year or two is the way to go. But it does set you back some money compared to getting an apartment or home for rent.
Academic Rigor I believe that UC prides themselves on what they teach and what knowledge is conveyed to the students.
Tips for prospective students Apply for scholarships. Get good grades in college. Don't get a credit card!

Categories Comments What to do for fun Frequent sporting events, movies, lots of student organizations. The Cincinnati Zoo is only a few blocks away, and is a very nice, award-winning zoo. Downtown, you have Reds baseball, Bengals football, or Cyclones hockey, along with all the events that happen downtown.
Food and Dining The two main campus dining halls are pretty good, with lots of choices, long hours, and friendly staff. The on-campus food court is decent, with a few fast food options. The best restaurants are on the streets surrounding campus.
Dorm Life I did not stay in the dorms, because I live in Northern Kentucky. Commuting is cheaper than staying in the dorms.
Academic Rigor My program in the Design school is very rigorous, but I cannot speak for other majors.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus, take a tour, walk through some of the buildings, and talk to professors and students. If you're from out of town, take a weekend trip into Cincinnati and check out the culture, events, architecture, and history.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is a great school with a beautiful campus. Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is very important at the University of Cincinnati because it is located very close to downtown. The university has its very own police force. There are blue phones located all around campus that you can call and have someone either help you locate a building or come pick you up if you feel scared. There is a program called night walk that you can call and they will walk with you across campus so you aren't alone.
Greek Life Greek life is not huge at the University of Cincinnati. If you do want to join it, be prepared to spend anywhere from 400-600 a semester.
Clubs and Activities The university offers intramural sports that anyone can join. There are tons and tons of clubs that you can join.
Great for these types of students If you play an instrument, UC has a very good program. If you are an engineer, the university gives you co-ops that let you intern at businesses.
Bang for the buck The university offers a newspaper that offers coupons from nearby food places to UC students. Also, the University has a movie theatre on campus where movies are only 2.00.
What to do for fun There is a shuttle that will take you over to Kentucky to Newport for free, all you have to do is show your student ID. Many students dont even know this exists. In Newport there is a movie theatre, multiple restaurants, and a book store. The cincinnati Reds are very close to campus. There is a park within walking distance. There are clubs and hookah lounges very close to campus.
Food and Dining The university has 3 dining halls on campus. All serve decent food. The staff is somewhat friendly. The problem is that two of the three dining halls have terrible hours. On the weekends, only one dining hall stays open which really limits your choices. I never got around to eating at stadium view because their hours are so limited. Centercourt is nice because it stays open every night until midnight. If you aren't up for dinning hall food, there are other food places on campus, especially in Tangeman University Center or TUC for short. Also there are many restaurants very close to campus that you can choose from, many of them serve pizza.
Dorm Life Dorm life at the University of Cincinnati is okay. It is not the best by far, but there are dorms that give you suite accommodations so I suggest Turner or Stratford Heights. All dorms have boys and girls living on the same floor except for Siddall and Calhoun. Siddall is nice to live in your freshman year because it is very close to one of the dining halls. Be cautious about your roommate though because the university does not have a good system to match you up to live with someone that you get along with.
Academic Rigor Really it all depends on the major that you are studying. If you are a pre-med major, you will find school being very hard. Also if you are in architecture, or fashion, say goodbye to sleep. The DAAP program at the university is very, very hard. Also the engineering program is difficult too so be sure you are good at math.
Tips for prospective students For new students, I would suggest that as soon as you accept your letter and commit to Cincinnati, sign up for housing immediately because it closes fast. I also suggest you take a tour on campus just to make sure that Cincinnati is the school for you. Also, once you get to campus and you are all settled into your dorm, I suggest you get your schedule of classes and find out where the buildings are that you have classes in.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is a medium sized campus that has something for everyone. Each year the amount of students increases and the university is becoming more well known. I am proud to call myself a bearcat.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UC has worked and improved safety over the years and it keeps improving with time. They have the basic campus safety precautions (Help lamps, campus police etc.) and more including services called NightWalk which is a transportation service that will walk/drive you to a location at night if you are by yourself or in a group and feel unsafe.
Greek Life Greek Life makes up a little more than 21% of campus. This is a good percentage because you can live with or without it. It doesn't make up the whole campus but it can be what you make it.
Clubs and Activities There are over 100s of clubs and activities which are extremely involved in campus life. Aside from academics there is rock-climbing, horse back, ski club and many many more.
Great for these types of students That is the best bart of UC, it is extremely diverse. You have pretty much every type of student.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the University of Cincinnatis campus is state of the art, and I don't know what else you would expect with a internationally ranked Design school. Our buildings win many many awards and we were ranked top 10 most beautiful campuses by Forbes magazine this year. This school is almost 200 years old so there are too many traditions to count.
Bang for the buck This school is what you make it. You can excel beyond measure. They have a world known co-op program that sets you up with a career opportunity after you graduate, honors schools and many nationally ranked programs.
What to do for fun Woodys is a bar on campus, and is often 18+ on certain nights. Join a frat or sorority and house parties are all options for under 21s trying to go out and meet people. For people over 21 Cincinnati is a great place to go out and have fun. You can go downtown, Mt. adams etc.
Food and Dining The food is okay in the beginning but quickly gets old. Just about everyone I know ended up with 20+ swipes at the end of each quarter. Buy a small meal plan and you can always get more.
Dorm Life If you are social and want to make friends I would suggest Siddall or Daniels. Calhoun is somewhere in between, but still a good time. Stratford are nice and new, but don't expect to meet anyone. Its very secluded, more like apartments. I would strongly suggest dorm life freshman year for this school.
Academic Rigor It all depends on your major. If you are a DAAP student, expect to work long hours. If you are in nursing, expect to be stressed by the competition. If you are in engineering or architecture, expect difficult work and long hours. If you love it though you will not mind. If you are a business major, expect a decently easy transition from high school. UCs business school is very well connected with the community and around the world.
Tips for prospective students - Parking is terrible and car vandalism often happens, whether people accidentally hit you and the skinny roads or someone breaks in. - location of your living spaces is crucial! pay attention to how far away you are from campus, it is not the safest place to live and whether you want to walk to class or meet up with friends its better to be closer. - BUY a small meal plan, you can always make it bigger but its very difficult to make it smaller. - When buying books go to all of the stores and wait until a couple days into the class, you might not even need to buy the text book which could save hundreds. When selling try to do a trade-off with friends or if you aren't going to trade books look at all your options including amazon.
In three sentences This college is an urban college town type campus. It is extremely diverse, making it easy to find people like you. UC provides the perfect mixture of every type of person, sort of like a mixing pot of people.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safety ON campus is awesome. Nothing bad ever happens on campus, but Clifton is not the best area. Off campus there happen to be many robberies and conflicts. Just being safe and not walking alone at night is the best advice for any student.
Greek Life Greek life is huge at Cincinnati, but if a student doesn't want to join, he or she will not feel excluded from the social life of campus.
Clubs and Activities There is every type of club possible at University of Cincinnati! If you are interested in mountain climbing to business, they have it!
What to do for fun Night life is very fun at University of Cincinnati. There is almost always something to do, such as going to a bar, frats, or house parties. It does not get boring! On top of that, the Cincinnati Zoo is 10 minutes away by car, which is a fun thing to do during the day. Downtown is also 10 minutes away if anyone wants to get away for a little while, there are many nice restaurants and sights to see. Not to mention there is almost always something going on on campus!
Food and Dining There aren't many good options for dining halls at Cincinnati. There are only three, two of which have weird hours. Center Court is awful, there is nothing good there except the cookies only once a week. This one is open every day until about 11 pm. Market Pointe is better, kind of, but it's only open during week days and is only open until 8pm. The last one, Stadium View, has weird daytime hours and it only serves burgers and fries with a special. UC definitely needs to amp up their dining halls compared to other universities around Ohio.
Dorm Life I had a great experience with dorm life. While living in dorms seems so unappealing to most people, after getting used to it I realized it wasn't that bad. Dorms a great place to make your friends in college, as well as meet people who have the same major as you. I met some of my best friends in Daniels. I wish I could do it all over again!
Academic Rigor Certain majors are known at UC to be much harder than others, if you're going to be in Engineering compared to a Criminal Justice major, you can obviously see which one would be harder. It's just all about putting effort into the classes, because professors are understanding on their lesson plans. Most professors do not allow students to miss any tests, that's unacceptable.
Tips for prospective students The number one tip for prospective students is to learn the area around campus, it's not located in the best area, but if you aren't stupid and keep to yourself, nothing bad will happen to you. Classes are not hard if you study and pick the right teacher. Some professors are harder than others, but that means that they are better at what they do. There are tons of classes being offered so pick ones that appeal to you! Also, what helped me really start to enjoy the school was getting involved. I almost thought about transferring after first quarter, but after getting involved I realized that there are so many things to do and people that I would be friends with for the rest of my life.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is a big school, but doesn't give you a feeling of being lost. The campus is beautiful and condensed into one big block, and classes vary from being small to large. I think that the university does a great job of giving students a sense of being home.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is priority for the University. The police roam the campus frequently and help phones are everywhere.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs to be involved in as well as activities that are hosted on campus.
Great for these types of students The University of Cincinnati is a great option for non-traditional students! I am a non-traditional student and up to this point my schedule easily fit in to my life as a wife and mother of two. I am a full time student taking daytime hour classes, however, for those that work the school offers an abundance of night time classes that fit many schedules.
Bang for the buck The University of Cincinnati can be costly, however, to get more bang for your buck start at University of Cincinnati Blue Ash Campus. The campus is smaller and comes with a much more affordable price tag. Working through college in this route doesn't leave you with years of full price Main Campus pricing! It is a great option for those that watch their budget.
What to do for fun The campus has a variety of clubs to belongs to, as well as hosting a special event quite often! Campus life is hustle and bustle like Christmas time.
Food and Dining There is great options on campus as well as many options surrounding campus!
Dorm Life I do not live in a dorm, however, those friends that do absolutely love it.
Academic Rigor More students than not expect to maintain their already high GPA or to continue rising to the top!
Tips for prospective students If you are 100% committed to earning your college education, you will not have any trouble keeping up with some of the most time extensive work you may ever see in your life! Don't bother if you are only here to party, you will waste time, money, and another dedicated student could lose a seat in a specific class that they need due to you getting to the class first (only to blow the class off).
In three sentences Fantastic advisers to lead students to a successful end. Professors that are extremely fair. Unity!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Second to none
Greek Life Adequate
Clubs and Activities Lots
Great for these types of students There are many programs fro international students. The health care and engineering programs are first rate.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus None that I'm aware of
Bang for the buck It is far less than most area universities and offers quality education, especially with engineering and health care in mind. The co-op program is the best.
What to do for fun Lots to do being an urban university
Food and Dining Absolutely great on and off campus. More healthy options would be a plus.
Dorm Life I don't live in a drom.
Academic Rigor Classes are challenging. Most have been well thought out and relevant to my major.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your academic advisors and department heads.
In three sentences It has mostly been a wonderful experience. I have been educated by some great professors. Even though it has a large student body, the University of Cincinnati provides quality education.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Downtown Cincinnati is located only fifteen minutes away! There are school shuttles that will take you there, or you can catch a bus. If public transportation isn't your thing, a cab ride with a good driver is only eight dollars as well! I recommend exploring downtown, or going across the river to Newport!
Food and Dining The dining options on campus were initially fantastic. The ala carte food halls have something for everyone, including gluten free and vegetarian foods. However, the dining hall food did get old after a while. This was made worse by the ridiculous number of dining hall swipes freshman on campus are required to purchase.
Dorm Life The older dorms such as the one I was in was cramped and overcrowded. However, you made friends quickly because so many people lived so close to you. While the RA's were required to put on programs and try to get us involved, most of them were uninterested and went unattended.
Academic Rigor Please note that this rating is only for the architecture program. I have never worked so hard in my life as I have in architecture. However, my roommates were communications majors and their work was much less rigorous from what I saw.
Tips for prospective students The first piece of advice is one you hear often: Don't walk home alone! Aside from that obvious tidbit, my advice is to get involved on campus. There are plenty of causes and groups around and it will pay off if you have a way to make friends early on.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is a little odd in that is has some very good, highly rated programs such as the College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning and the College Conservatory of Music, while some are less than impressive. The experience varies different greatly depending on the program. The campus is beautiful, but you cannot step off campus at night safely.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus security sends safety updates and tips at least once a week to your school email.
Greek Life There is a great involvement in Greek Life at UC & a lot of Sororities & Fraternities to choose from.
Clubs and Activities There is a club or activity for just about everyone & if you don't find what you're looking for, you can always choose to start your own club per school regulations.
What to do for fun Student organizations put on different activities at least once a week on campus. The school shuttle goes down to Newport on the Levee Thursday - Saturday nights.
Food and Dining There are 3 dining halls on campus and various cafes. The dining hall food is decent, but the meal plan prices are kind of steep & you will not use all of the largest meal plan. There is a large variety of restaurants around campus, most of which take the student ID Bearcat Card (like a debit card).
Dorm Life If you want to meet a lot of new people quickly, you should live in the older dorms (Daniels, Dabney, Calhoun, Siddall). Most students generally have their doors open and are more willing to hang out on a moment's notice more often than students who live in the newer dorms (The Jefferson Complex). I definitely enjoyed living in Dabney my freshman year.
Academic Rigor Classes are challenging, but professors and previous students are very willing to help explain more if you ask. You have a great sense of accomplishment after completing each course.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Nightwalk is good, but it's only open until 1am
What to do for fun Check out the businesses on Calhoun Street. Roxx Electrocafe is great for the nerd in you. If you like to fence, shoot nerf guns, play Magic, play DnD, gaming, or anything else that makes you a nerd, become a regular at Roxx. They're a wonderful group of people that have become a second family to me.
Food and Dining Go to Market Point whenever you can. Center Court is good in small doses. Yet it's the only one open on weekends.
Dorm Life The dorms are larger than most universities, but I find them to be quite over priced for the quality that they are in.
Academic Rigor The classes are tough because there's not a lot of individual attention in lecture classes, but if you want to talk to the professor they'll be available to talk. Utilize office hours.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to sign up for clubs! That's how I met my best friends this past year. I put off going to DAFT (Dramatic Arts for Thespians) meetings, but I found my best friends and the love of my life there.
In three sentences Great school. Some professors can be harsh, but it's because they look to push you to your best. Always something to do on campus too.

Categories Comments Campus Safety You'll hear about crazy stuff going on around Clifton (muggings, etc) but I think as long as you keep your wits about you you're safe.
Greek Life Its definitely there. I'm kind of anti-greek. Dated a greek guy while I was there and it just seemed like one big drama clique with everyone knowing everyone else's business while getting drunk.
Clubs and Activities There's every club and activity you could imagine and if they don't have it, you can create it.
Great for these types of students Really anyone can find a place to fit in at UC. It has a such a large student body with so many different programs that it attracts a variety of people to campus.
Food and Dining Pretty decent on campus. Tons of options within walking distance off campus
Dorm Life I didn't live on campus while I was there. However, I highly recommend anyone who truly wants the college experience to at least live on campus for a year.
Academic Rigor It seemed like a lot of the core classes they had low expectations of students just so that they would pass and move on. However, once you start taking classes in your specific major expectations seem to go up.
Tips for prospective students Find a club or organization to join so that you don't feel so much like nobody in the middle of a big campus

Categories Comments Food and Dining There are plenty dining options on campus. There are restaurants in the Tangeman student center and there are 2 dining halls. It is a good idea for freshman to get the meal plan. There are many restaurants right off of campus and many of them accept the Bearcat Card which is really convenient.
Dorm Life I never stayed in a dorm because I lived close to campus with my family. I've heard that people make many friends and that there are tons of activities to get into in the freshman dorms. Upperclassmen dorms are really nice! They allow for the convenience of being on campus, but living more in an apartment style setting.
Academic Rigor The University of Cincinnati is what you make of it. If you take challenging courses you will get a lot out of it. There are a variety of classes every semester so you are bound to find something you want to take. Explore different fields before deciding your major.

Dorm Life Many dorms to choose from. Some are good and some are bad, but it mostly depends on the students in the building.
Academic Rigor Depending on the degree, coursework can be tough or easy based on the students intellectual set and determination.
Tips for prospective students Stay on top of the course work. Do not allow yourself to fall behind or skip several classes.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Not living on campus, and have never been to the campus so I cannot answer this question either.
Dorm Life Not living on campus so cannot be the judge of that, nor have I even been to the campus itself.
Academic Rigor The academic program seems to so far be suited around my degree, and suited around other programs, designed in a way to give the classes that you need to prepare for when you go get a job in that field.
Tips for prospective students A few things I have learned on my search if the college is pestering you with calls at least twice a day they are only in it for the money. Admissions and Financial Aid departments that go above and beyond are hard to find. Find one that suitable to your needs, and if willing to answer your questions, without having to go through a whole bunch of different people.
In three sentences So far this has been the school that keeps me informed without being an annoyance. Willing to work with me to help me find what I need to have the money and the tools I need to go to school. There admission's program and financial aid I would give an excellent ratings.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities I think there's a club or activity for almost every interest. I'm in the UC Women's Chorus (it's actually a class) and I know they do all kinds of fun things over the course of the year.
Great for these types of students UC is apparently a good place for older students to go to get back into education. My sister in law says there are lots of non traditional students there.
What to do for fun If I remember right, there are lots of ways to amuse yourself around campus. There are restaurants and bars right up the street from the dorms, and the nightlife there can be crazy!!
Food and Dining There are quite a few restaurants on campus, and most of them are fairly well known chains. If you need to grab a bite, you've got plenty of opportunity.
Dorm Life I'm not dorming, but I know there are several dorms on campus.
Academic Rigor From what I've seen, they're very good about pushing students to achieve their goals in class. Assignments are interesting, and hard enough to be challenging without being overwhelming.
Tips for prospective students Check out blackboard on the UC website. You can find assignments, syllabuses, and more on the site. It also gives you background on your instructors, tells you what books you'll need, and tells you important dates in the class.
In three sentences I love that the advisor in the program I plan to transfer to was willing to sit down with me and go over the classes I wanted to take, and give me the information about electives and how my class schedule will work. I also love that the college is willing to work with me on billing and things of that nature. I don't really like that the campus is HUGE as I am asthmatic, lol.

For example, we have several sororities and fraternities as well as religious clubs. Most of the clubs and organizations that are provided serve as support systems to each of the students.
Food and Dining Food and Dining is very important around the University of Cincinnati. We have great dining halls that treat all of the students fairly well. They have great food that keeps all of us healthy and strong.
Dorm Life As a student at the University of Cincinnati I decided to live in Straford Heights as a Gen-1 student. Gen-1 is a program for all first generation college students. Gen-1 provides each of us with the support that we need to make transitioning into college as easy as possible. As a resident in the Gen-1 house i have developed numerous amounts of friendships with both my roommate as well as my suitemates but with the other students that live within the house as well.
Academic Rigor As a student at the University of Cincinnati I have challenged myself to take on many rigourous courses. I have taken on chemistry as well as biology.
Tips for prospective students A piece of advice that i would give to all of the students coming in after me is to make sure that they stay ahead of all of their classes. To make sure that they ask questions if they do not understand the work that is given to them. I would also tell them to get tutoring even if they feel like they do not need the help.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is a prestigious school that challenges each and everyone of their students. The University of Cincinnati provide many different opportunities to ensure that all of their students are able to take their major and be able to find a job after they graduate from college. Greek Life They always get in lots of trouble but everyone wants to be part of Greek life.
Clubs and Activities Political Party clubs are prevalent.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Esquire Theater. Echo Circle. Random Hill by the Business School.
Bang for the buck No college should cost this much, but it is one of the cheaper colleges in Ohio. UC's Blue Ash campus is the place to go if you want the degree but also a cheaper first two years.
What to do for fun Concerts at local cafes and bars, scavenger hunts around the historic city, tours, experiment with dining options, join a small group from a church to hang out with.
Food and Dining Fantastic dining options! You never want to stop eating!
Dorm Life I never lived in dorms, but I hear they are way too expensive when you could just live in an independent apartment for cheaper. The only advantage would be that they are close to classes.
Academic Rigor You can make your experience as hard or easy as you want, depending on your goals for what you want to take away from college.
Tips for prospective students Set a budget for spending money on food because there are so many eating options everywhere. Have University Health Insurance-it will pay off. Go to class every day.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is a fantastic home for diversity and entertainment loving students. The campus is large, along with the student population and the University is in the heart of all things creative and beautiful in Southwest Ohio. Categories Comments Campus Safety It is in downtown Cincinnati, which is not the best area. However, crime on the campus is nearly nothing, and I have NEVER felt unsafe on campus.
Bang for the buck For in state students, the price is very good, and the scholarship program, Cincinnatus, is very helpful.
What to do for fun All kinds of stuff. Soccer, basketball, dodgeball, clubs. The coolest part of the campus, for an athlete that is, is the football stadium. As long as the football team is not practicing, students are able to use the field for whatever they like, and it is always open. Frisbee, football, soccer, running the steps, whatever.
Food and Dining Pretty darn good cafeteria food, that is oftentimes made to order.
Dorm Life I visited Turner with the Honors College, and the dorms were VERY nice. At least for a college anyway.
Academic Rigor The schools that I am looking at - DAAP and CEAS - are well known as good schools. I don't actually know how rigorous the academics are, since I have not yet attended, but I do know that these two colleges are respected.
Tips for prospective students Really put effort into your app. The recommendations are said to be optional, but you should really think about sending at least one in.
In three sentences I love the campus of this school. Everyone is friendly, the buildings are both modern and traditional (which sounds weird, but you will know what I mean if you visit), the campus size is wonderful, and the location is neat. I cannot wait to attend here next year.

Great for these types of students The University of Cincinnati is great for every type of student. The university does an excellent job at making all the students one community while also acknowledging all types of backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a very cool spot on campus called echo point. Not everyone knows about it. But when you stand in the center of this circular path and say something, it gives off a strange echo.
Bang for the buck A great school for a pretty good price! College is expensive for sure. But, at University of Cincinnati, it is worth the price you pay.
What to do for fun For fun, join an organization or get sports tickets. There are so many different organizationis and each one offers many activities to do. Also, the Bearcat sports teams are all pretty good. A lot of the events you can get into for free with your student i.d. and discounted tickets are offered to those events that you do have to buy tickets. In addition, a free shuttle runs on the weekends that can take students to downton Cincinnati or Newport where there are lots of things to do.
Food and Dining There are multiple dining halls opened at all times of the day and night. There is a variety of choices and a friendly staff.
Dorm Life The University does an excellent job at maintaining the dorms and a new dorm building is in the process of being built. Even if you decide to do random roommates, you should at least be able to find people on your floor that you will become friends with. There are also lots of activities sponsered by the RAs. These provide a great way to meet people.
Academic Rigor For the most part, classes will challenge you. There will be times that you have to ask questions. However, they are completely manageable and not often overwhelming.
Tips for prospective students Your college experience will be whatever you make it. For class, spend as much time working and studying outside of class as you do in class. Get to know your professors so that you are comfortable asking them questions. Also, get involved on campus. Find a few organizations that suite your interests. It will be a great way to make friends and broaden your horizon outside of the classroom.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel safe on campus, UC has their own police force, who team up with the Cincinnati Police force.
Clubs and Activities Plenty of groups for everyone. Hard to work around school and commuting, though.
Great for these types of students People who want to live in the dorms, social people and active people.
Bang for the buck I feel ripped off, only because I feel like I haven't learned anything, even though main campus was my cheapest option other than UC Clermont.
What to do for fun Make friends, go to the rec center, explore on and around campus. There are bars, theaters, and plenty of school sponsored activities to go to.
Food and Dining There are plenty of food options all over campus, and around. Get out, try something new, and you'll be glad that you did.
Dorm Life I did not dorm.
Academic Rigor This solely depends on your major or academic skill set. I am a psychology major and my gen eds and psych class were basically a joke. My boyfriend is an Aerospace Engineer and he has been working his butt off.
Tips for prospective students Live on campus or around it, because commuting is the worst decision I have made. Make sure you know what you want when you're scheduling, but don't have your heart set on it. There are too many students to guarantee that you'll get what you want. Join groups, because if you don't, you'll feel lost and lonely.
In three sentences UC is a research school, so professors aren't solely worried about you- Teachers Assistants do most of the interacting with students. Campus is large and almost always busy, I still haven't been able to explore the entire campus. If you choose to commute, especially if you have to take 2-75, 71, or 75(major highways), you will hate how much time you spend behind the wheel.

Categories Comments Campus Safety You know you are safe when you see campus police patrol around campus and when you can sign up for text message updates. Campus also provides Night-Ride (campus police escort) for students who don't feel safe to walk to their next location at night.
Bang for the buck There's so many things that are offered to you and included into the tuition. So take advantage of it!
Food and Dining The dining halls are mainly in Campus' center, so it's easy to get there from just about anywhere. The food is different everyday!
Dorm Life Dorm life is amazing! I met a majority of my friends from the dorms whether it be from dorm events, RA events, or just walking through the hall. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming!
Academic Rigor As long as you study hard, ask questions, and seek help, there is no reason for you to not succeed.
Tips for prospective students Play hard, but also STUDY hard. Socialize and have fun, but make sure you prioritize yourself.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Compared to my dining options from my last university, it is painful to say that this place doesn't have that great of food variety. I don't live on campus, so I have no idea what the main cafeteria has for food options. They do have a a Starbucks, a subway and a chick-fa-la on campus and a whole street dedicated to restaurants. On the down side, if you have certain foods or multiple foods you can't eat, good luck trying to find some that accommodates to you. I almost never eat on campus except for a rare non dairy drink from the Starbucks.
Dorm Life I am a commuter, probably because the dorms were so much tinier than the dorm at my previous university. The students I know that live on campus seem to like them and it's a bit of a community (though you miss out on the inside jokes and weekend stories). If you don't want to live in a dorm, there are plenty of apartments right off campus, or even in surrounding areas if you take the bus or have a car. The Cincinnati bus system can be a bit finicky and on campus parking is more money than I was willing to pay for, so if you commute with a car, either pay for the parking or make sure you know where the best place is to park at certain times of the day.
Academic Rigor I am in the DAAP program, in which this art college is a pretty hard part of the college to get. I always have something due and my job revolves around my school and homework schedule. Where for my lecture classes, they can be difficult if you don't show up to class. Don't worry, unless they require it for your grade, you don't have to raise your hand (let alone speak).
Tips for prospective students This campus does have a bad reputation for crime. It is a inner city school, and not in the best part of town. Campus itself is beautiful and safe, but the surrounding area is where most of the problems occur. Fear not, the campus has it's own police force and students are kept aware of crime through an email sent out within 24 hours of the occurance.
In three sentences For a public college, it has great diversity and opportunities to take part in. Transferring in from a private university of only 1,500 hundred students to a public school with 5,000 students coming into the school was a HUGE change for me, but the charisma and sheer energy every student gives when cheering for their school is earth shattering. I may not be the most enthusiastic student, but I'm not regretting my transfer.

Tips for prospective students Conduct as much research as possible about the university and all it has to offer. Know the university from small programs to big programs at UC to get the most out of your experience at this institution.
In three sentences University of Cincinnati is a very prestigious school with incredible programs. However, for such a big institution, organization is not a strong point for the university. I do like University of Cincinnati and I am proud to go to school at this institution.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel very safe on campus. They constantly update you on what is going on campus and if there are any possible risk of any unusual activity. Though it may become frightening of the constant e-mails, it is very nice to know that you are being told about them.
Clubs and Activities Haven't been able to be apart of any activities but I hear very good reviews about them all. There are so many organizations for everyone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Personally, a unusual location, but very popular, place on campus is Market on Main. This is also known as MOM. Its very weird how this small store contains many things that can pertain to the name MOM.
What to do for fun Get involved in organizations! There are so many activities that one can become a part of. There are also many students on campus that allow they fun on campus to be known.
Food and Dining The campus food is always up to par and very freshly made. You won't be disappointed.
Dorm Life Dorms are clean and very much of a smaller community with all of the different students living in your dorm.
Academic Rigor Most professors are very nice and difficult at the same time. On the other hand many professors are very difficult to understand. But one thing they have in common is the compassion they have to get students to graduate.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that this is the college for you! Do this by taking a tour of the campus and asking questions that may influence your choice of a college.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is a very HUGE campus. However, it is very beautiful and a nice place to spend your college years at. This college also provides many organizations for students to become active which allows me to give this college a high ranking.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is iffy at best. Stay away from the parking garages if you can and don't walk around late at night or early morning.
Greek Life The greek Life is about 1000 to 2500 students so about 5%-8% of the total student population and the greek houses are right next to campus.
Bang for the buck Its fair for the price. Classes are decent and involving
What to do for fun There is an on campus theater, and the Rec-center is almost always open to go and work out swim or just have fun.
Food and Dining The campus dinning halls are great, eat all you want and it tastes great!
Dorm Life Some of the dorms are dirty and small, they are great ways to meet new people and make friends.
Academic Rigor The classes are designed to challenge you and they do exactly that.
Tips for prospective students Keep grades high and do well on the ACT or SAT. Apply early to get scholorships
In three sentences The campus is relatively small and you can get just about anywhere on campus in ten minutes or less. The class selection is decent but require a good amount of work, effort, and time to do well. The overall campus life is great with everything so close you can get together at almost any time, just be careful since the location is not exactly the best.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Cincinnati is a great city for a college campus because there is a lot to do in and around campus! The Cincinnati Bengals and Reds play only a few minutes away, and their games are always a blast! If you are of age, the scene in Mount Lookout or Mount Adams is also a lot of fun!
Food and Dining Any of the restaurants are awesome! If you want to get off campus for a while, any of the restaurants in Clifton are delicious and relatively cheap! You will have a ton of options either on campus or off campus.
Dorm Life I did not live in the dorms, but I hear they are awesome! Just be sure to remember you can always take classes at one of the branch locations and get the same quality of education.
Academic Rigor The professors are hard, but fair. The best part is they are always willing to work with you given any situation you may be in. Taking notes has become a hobby of mine, and taking time from your schedule to study in the library is always very important!
Tips for prospective students Do not let the size of main campus scare you! It can be overwhelming at first, but you get used to it very quickly. Get involved in activities! Student Government and any of the clubs are awesome ways to meet new friends that share your same interests!
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is a great school for students not ready for the big city feel of most big universities. Students get the same education with the same professors at any of their branch locations. The environment at a sports event is unlike any other, with so many fans showing their true bearcat pride.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UC Police and Campus Police are GREAT! They email you and even text you whenever something bad is happening. They show up when you need them and there are blue phone emergency poles located everywhere on campus. And if you need a lift at night on campus call nightwalk they'll pick you up and drop you off for no charge.
Greek Life Go Greek! Go through rush or recruitment. It's not scary like the movies. You'll find the house thats perfect for you. These people will be your friends for life, it's not just four years.
Clubs and Activities There's so many clubs and activites. We have clubs for majors to hand gliding club. And every club or group host activities you can go to whether or not you're in them.
Great for these types of students I'm not sure what this means.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus During the falls there's a philanthropic event called The Nearly Naked Mile. Everyone runs a 5k nearly naked.
Bang for the buck If you want to go to a big named school where it's not too big attend UC. The campus is the perfect size and everythings right here. It's big enough to avoid people and small enough to get to know a good number. You won't go wrong and honestly, you don't need a car here.
What to do for fun Join clubs. Get on an intramural team. Go Greek and join a fraternity or sorority. Go to events sponsered by groups on campus. Hangout in the pool at CRC.
Food and Dining The food is good. There's a lot of variety. There's pizza, a salad bar, a dessert part a sandwich bar, an asian cuisine and ect. It's vegetarian friendly.
Dorm Life Stratford Heights is homie, but not a dorm I'd particularly choose for a freshman. You don't see many people and it's extremely quiet and the doors are never opened.
Academic Rigor Make sure when it's time to schedule classes you wake up early because the class you want may get filled quick. Pick good class times, if you know you're not going to wake up in time don't schedule it.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! Don't hold back, make college a great memory. Freshmen, use your swipes! For most of you, there will be a lot left at the end of the semester. Decorate your dorm, make it your home. Be prepared for all weather. Make friends and keep in touch.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati Main Campus is a beautiful college with all kinds of people and opportunities. They have great places to live and eat on campus and everything you need is convenient and right around the corner or even on campus even a recreation center and a doctors office. There's always something to do whether it's extra-curriculars, tutoring, office hours, greek life, clubs and ect.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Because the university is in a rougher part of the city, they really do all they can to keep us posted and safe. Each year they put forth more and more effort to keeping our students safe and healthy.
Clubs and Activities The University of Cincinnati has anything you can think of to get involved and stay active in the community and within the school.
Great for these types of students We have a top ranked, and nationally known music program which is the College- Conservatory Music.
What to do for fun There is so much to do on campus as far as sports teams, but also intramural sports and clubs to join. Off campus you have so many choices, because of the city and all the new developments they have been adding.
Food and Dining I also do not have a meal plan, because I live off campus, but there is a wide variety of places to eat on and off of campus. Also, the restaurants around campus recognize our meal plans and you can use the money on your card off campus.
Dorm Life I was a transfer student and did not live in the dorms, but I have not heard anything negative about them.

Food and Dining The food was always quite varied. Dining options included food made by both local chefs and chain restaurants.

Academic Rigor The elective courses provided varying degrees of academic rigor, but the major specific courses proved to be consistently challenging.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati provides a vibrant campus atmosphere comprised of stunning architecture by world renowned architects. Despite its large student enrollment, the school never feels overwhelmingly large; it provides the comprehensive resources that only a school this size could possess. Categories Comments Campus Safety On campus is pretty safe. There are many patrol and officers around. The City of Cincinnati isn't the safest area, let's be honest. You really don't want to walk around off campus late at night alone, but the university offers many programs to get you home safely.
Greek Life There are plenty of frats and sororities to be involved in as well. They host many events and have many activities and provide you will excellent networking opportunities useful upon graduation.
Clubs and Activities There are many organizations and clubs to chose from no matter what your interests are. In fact, take advantage of it because the value of meeting new people, networking, and having fun are priceless
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Skyline in Clifton. Its a Cinci tradition for sure and is open until 3 am every day
Bang for the buck UC is an excellent school for what your paying. The Design school is one of the best in the nation and the engineering and medical programs are very good as well. People come from all over the world just to go to UC.
Food and Dining There are plenty of restaurants on campus and the cafeterias actually offer decent food.
Dorm Life I did not live in the Dorms so I cannot really say how it is.
Academic Rigor The DAAP program is tough, but the education and training you recieve is superb and you can pretty much write a ticket to any job you want in the future, not to mention when you co-op you'll graduate with over a year of experience in your field, putting you above all the fresh graduates from other institutions
Tips for prospective students Get involved in high school. It will definitely look good when applying to colleges. Also visit campus. Learn as much as you can before applying to make sure you're going to like it.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Cincinnati is one of the most awesome places in the country for the arts. We've got lots of local theaters, the orchestra, fantastic youth choirs and a lot of fun local festivals.
Food and Dining While I was there, the food was pretty good. I might recommend getting a few prepaid meals, but probably not the meal-packages. They're crazy expensive.
Dorm Life All lot of the dorms are geared towards particular types of students, like honors or first generation students.
Academic Rigor U.C. is a good school in a wide variety of disciplines, particularly the arts programs and engineering, but there are lots of excellent options to choose from.
Tips for prospective students Be very aware of your surroundings. It's not nearly as dangerous as it's made out to be, but U.C. is still an urban school, and you have to be alert. Greek Life There is greek life on campus, however the majority of students do not go greek.
Clubs and Activities There are over 300 clubs, and if you can't find a club you want to join, you can create one!
Great for these types of students If you are interested in Design, Engineering, or Business, there are great programs available at UC for these students.
Bang for the buck In-state tuition is pretty reasonable.
What to do for fun There is always something going on and there is something fun for everyone. You have the entire city of Cincinnati to explore and there is always stuff happening.
Food and Dining There are 3 dining halls on campus. Center Court is the main dining hall with the most vast hours of operation. Marketpointe is known for better food and a better environment, but is closed on the weekends.
Dorm Life The regular dorms are average. There are a lot of nice housing opportunities on campus, such as Stratford Heights and University Park Apartments, but may cost you a bit more.
Academic Rigor As far as the design program, the projects can be time-consuming and challenging. I think challenges are important in a good academic program. Being able to overcome challenges and creatively solve problems will help you learn.

Categories Comments Campus Safety If you are smart you won't get hurt.
Greek Life Greek Life is cool. A lot of people are in Greek but it isn't as big as Alabama or Kentucky but it's fun.
Clubs and Activities It is very easy to join clubs and find activities because of our student life center. All you have to do is go into the student life center and ask about specific clubs or activities and you will find it within 2 minutes.
Great for these types of students There are all sorts of clubs out there for any type of student. If you are an athlete tons of intramural sports ranging from quidditch to football. If you are into science there is a science club and so forth. We have just about anything you could ever need or want.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is the nearly naked mile run every October. The football field is very unusual because it is one of the only fields in the nation that is totally accessible during the day and night to any student at any time because it sits directly in the heart of campus. You can use the stadium at anytime.
Bang for the buck Everything around campus is just a little bit more expensive than in the suburbs but that's because you are close to a downtown area and those places are always a little expensive.
What to do for fun A lot of people go to house parties or to the bars downtown. There are bars in Over the Rhine and in Newport on the Levee. If you are under 21 you can go out to eat downtown or to the one of three hookah bars that surround campus. You can always go to house parties or 18+ dance clubs that are scattered in downtown.
Food and Dining The food is not bad but you will get sick of it by the end of the year. Centercourt's breakfast is amazing. The omelets are delicious and waffle days are the bomb. Market Pointe is just as good but I think it actually has better eggs than CC but both places are pretty good. Stadium View is very convenient and there are a ton of restaurants surrounding campus as well.
Dorm Life The dorms are fun. They are sociable and it is easy to meet new people while living in the dorms. Turner dorms are for athletes and honors students with private bathrooms per suite but Calhoun and Siddall dorms have community bathrooms but are more sociable.
Academic Rigor Depending on your major your coursework may be lighter or heavier. Engineers have a pretty tough time their freshmen, sophomore years because those are the weed out years for engineering. Business students have a lighter coursework but you have to be disciplined to get through it. DAAP students have a lot of work and projects to get done by the end of the semester. Keep on top of your work.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to do research on the co-op/internship opportunities. Make connections and do your research on the college that you want to apply for. Make sure that you will be able to handle the coursework that is associated with each major. Make sure you know your way around campus before the first day of class and always go to class. Be on time and pay attention.
In three sentences It has the number one rec center in the nation. It has the number 10 accounting program in the nation. I love the University of Cincinnati.

Categories Comments What to do for fun University of Cincinnati has multiple different organizations that sponsor fun events for students. Other than campus events, there are also events around Cincinnati that are relatively close to students to attend. Most events are either free or offer a discount to students.
Food and Dining University of Cincinnati has multiple dining facilities. There are 3 dining rooms, but all serve the same type of food. It would be more attractive for the campus to change their dining hall options. The food quality is subpar. The pricing for meal plans should be lowered for the quality and quantity of food that is offered.
Dorm Life The University of Cincinnati has multiple different types of dorms ranging from traditional style to Honors and graduate students. The dorm pricing is flexible and it seems like you can get more for what you pay. The dorms need more updating and there seems to be common plumbing issues.
Academic Rigor The classroom structure at University of Cincinnati is supportive for students in either small classrooms or larger lectures. Professors are understanding and are able to give students resources to help with their academics. There is also available tutoring for students who may be having difficulties with their academics. This type of structure is neccessary when dealing with the academic rigor, which isn't too challenging.
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is an outstanding, urban university located in Cincinnati, Ohio. University of Cincinnati is ever-growing, with top-rated programs in the country. University of Cincinnati is dedicated to

Categories Comments Campus Safety Students always feel in danger and never leave campus, because of the dangerous city surrounding the campus. There is always an email everyday about a different crime that has happened significantly close to campus and the crime is usually committed by African American people, which put a stereotype on African American people and promotes that the students should be fearful of said African American people.
Greek Life Is overrated.
Great for these types of students If you are a Caucasian, preppy athletic person then this is the school for you.
Bang for the buck You are paying way to much for a crappy College experience.
What to do for fun Nothing. There is nothing to do for fun.
Food and Dining I was often disgusted by the dining options at this school. Most of the items offered were not in any way healthy and often either over cooked or underdone. The best dining option on campus is Stadium View Cafe and that is, because it is a build your own burger type place, so if your burger tastes funny it is your own fault.
Dorm Life Dorms are crappy. You are paying top dollar for a run down dormitory with extremely thin walls, I mean you can hear everything which makes it hard to focus on studies and the living space is incredibly small.
Academic Rigor You do not have to be a rocket scientist to get through school here. However expect to have teachers that speak in circle and do not help out when you require help. There are many classes I feel are unneeded for whatever major you decide to be in but are forced to take and pay for, because it is an requirement.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared for Greg hand emails to be constantly bombarding your email. These are emails about crimes that have happened around campus that day. The campus is very hilly so bring your walking shoes.
In three sentences I would give my university a 4 out of 10. The campus is small and everything is in a walking distance which is a positive point, but students are often afraid of venturing off campus, because of the dangerous neighborhoods surrounding campus. If you are a person of color do not attend this university.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Honestly, the off campus area can be dangerous, especially at night. However, measures are taken to keep the students safe. On campus, there are blue light stands that have emergency phones on them. These can be used by student on campus if, for some reason, they are experiencing an emergency. In addition, emails are sent out to students when there are crimes in the neighborhood surrounding campus, such as robberies. These emails give details about the crime and descriptions of the perpetrator. In addition, Night Walk is a student run shuttle service that provides reliable, safe transportation within a mile radius of campus. Finally, it is always important to use common sense and to always use the buddy system! In all, although there can be dangerous situations around campus, the University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Police take measures to ensure students' safety.
Greek Life As I am not a member of a sorority, I do not feel qualified to talk about this. However, I do know that all the girls I know love their sororities, and it is a big part of their lives!
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs and activities on campus! These include intramural sport teams, foreign language and international outreach groups, and student government positions. There are also clubs focused on community service, ROTC (Army and Air Force), and more! There is a club for just about any interest! In addition, there are plenty of events going on around campus. There always seems to be a club on campus selling bake goods or even grilled cheeses to raise money! There is a concert every spring, as well (this year, it was Lupe Fiasco)! There are also annual festivals, and sometimes a certain college will even have free ice cream on campus! There is always a fun, new activity to try or be a part of!
Great for these types of students The University of Cincinnati is great for any student! We have a great art school (DAAP) for those who are creative! There are solid Division 1 sports teams and intramural teams for those who like to watch or play sports. We have a very accessible and bustling library for everyone! Greek life is popular, but definitely not important to finding a niche on campus. There are also plenty of jobs offered on and around campus for students who want or need to work while in school. Finally, UC is very diverse and is a popular destination for international students! Overall, UC has a place for everyone!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Campus is rather a hilly place, which makes the campus very interesting. For instance, if you are close to the stadium, you can literally look down and see INTO it, because it is essentially built down into the campus. The mixture of old buildings and modern architecture is what makes this campus so distinct and beautiful!
Bang for the buck Take advantage of what is offered on campus! If you are looking for a inexpensive movie date, the Tangeman University Center offers a few second-run movies for only a few bucks! Or, if you love yoga, do not pay for classes, because there is a club that will not only teach you yoga, but even provide a mat when you show up! Also, do not join and expensive gym, because the rec center has everything you need and more! Also, you can get student tickets to the football games for FREE! Take advantage of all these free or inexpensive activities to do on campus!
What to do for fun At the University of Cincinnati, there is so much to do both on and off campus. On campus, there are an unlimited number of clubs, ranging in interests from Spanish to Yoga to student government! Our recreation center is a hot spot, and includes a track, basketball courts, swimming pools, and a rock wall, along with the typical exercise machines. There are also many other courts and fields on campus for sport-lovers! One of the best things about the campus is that the football stadium is easily accessible to students, and during off seasons, students can goof around on the field or do homework in the stands! In addition, we are Bear Cat Nation and students love to support the sports teams, especially football! There is also a mini-movie theater on campus that plays two movies a few times a week, and is only a few dollars for students! There is also plenty to do off campus, as UC is located in a rather urban area. Right of campus there are a plethora of restaurants, hookah bars, small stores, a music venue, and bars. In addition, students can take the public metro down town (to bars, Reds games, Bengals games, restaurants, and fountain square) or the UC shuttle to New Port on the Levee (to restaurants, bars, and a movie theater). Overall, there is plenty to do on and around campus, any time of the year!
Food and Dining At first, the buffet style dining halls were all any freshman could hope for and more. Food...everywhere! A salad bar, a stir fry bar, an ice cream machine, and more! What more could you need! And it is true, there is a variety of food to choose from (it is even vegetarian friendly). However, eating from a dining hall day and in and day out gets a little boring eventually. However...anything beats microwaved ramen in the dorm room! UC only has a few dining halls, which is disappointing because it makes it harder to switch things up. Nevertheless, it is still nice to go the dining halls with buddies who have food swipes, too! In addition, if you totally get sick of the dining halls, there are other options! The main street right off campus has many restaurants, including pizza places, Indian restaurants, and sandwich shops, such a Panera. Finally, there is also a Krogers that is a short walk from campus! Overall, there are choices for everyone, although nothing beat home cooked meals!
Dorm Life Dorms: Yes, they can be cramped. Yes, you might fight with your roommate. Yes, they might be expensive. Chances are, however, that some of your best friends from college will come from your dorm building! It is such a great way to meet new people and make new friends! Dorms offer group activities and opportunities to get to know those who live around you. For most, those who live in your hall will be some of your first friends, your closest friends, and eventually, some of your oldest friends! I highly suggest dorming at any university you choose, and be open to meeting your hall mates! There are some downsides, however. First of all, it really inconvenient not to have everything close by, as you would in a house. The bathroom is usually down the hall, and you have to walk to a food court. These are little things that you have to, and will, get used to. They are also rather expensive, and can put a real dent in the wallet! Despite these few pitfalls, it is well worth the experience to meet good friends!
Academic Rigor As in any school, academic rigor really depends on the classes you take and where your strengths and weaknesses are. Most classes are challenging, but do-able. Success is definitely attainable, as long as you are willing to work for it. Major-oriented classes tend to be more difficult, and elective are usually not as rigorous. Overall, UC is academically challenging, but it provides the materials and sources that help students to succeed. Whether your weakness is math, writing, or a foreign language, there are free tutors that are available to provide help! This, along with some great professors, make success very attainable at the University of Cincinnati!
Tips for prospective students My best advice is to talk to people! Do not hesitate to start a conversation because you are afraid of what someone might think. Make a personal goal at the beginning of each semester to talk to at least one person in each of your classes. Start a conversation with 'I like your shoes' or even just by introduction yourself (it works!) This can be nerve wracking, but it is definitely worth it! It is a great way to make friends! Even if you do not become great friends, it is always nice to have someone to talk to during class or share notes with. It makes classes way better when you have a friend beside you!
In three sentences The University of Cincinnati is a diverse school which is extremely community oriented. With the initiative of our new president, Santa Ono, exciting changes are happening on campus to unite the school and to help the students. The University of Cincinnati is such an accepting community that has a place for everyone!

Categories Comments What to do for fun The Cincinnati area hosts many concerts from Rock to Hip' Hop and there are many sports teams in the area such as the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals. Downtown is just minutes away and Newport on the levee is just across the bridge into Kentucky for fun filled nights!
Tips for prospective students If you do decide to live off campus, be sure not to walk around too late alone, try to walk with someone or call someone if you can.
In three sentences President Ono seems like he is a great person and well involved with the university and local area. The campus is beautiful and listed in Forbes magazine for its beauty. The Cincinnati area is hosts many co-op opportunities for students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UC has one of the safest campus' in the area. There are constant patrols running their routes throughout the surrounding area. They have help phones in sight at every single location on campus if the need ever arises with campus PD seconds away.
Greek Life There's no shortage of Greek life on campus. UC is represented by nearly every major fraternity and sorority in the country and hold many social events to connect universities across the country.
Clubs and Activities Students have the ability to start clubs at any time with the approval of the student government and the support of a faculty member. This allows much more opportunity for involvement on the individual level as well as the on the larger campus level. Each program holds outings at the end of the semesters as a last hurrah for getting through it alive too.
Great for these types of students It's great for every type of student. If you're the type of student who loves to get involved on campus then you will never find yourself short of options. Fraternity/sorority life is huge here as well for those interested in taking that route. However, even for the less social students there's plenty of locations on campus for you to just hang out and do homework between classes with a large library and many specialized study rooms.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The on-campus bar in the center of campus is a prime attraction for legal students to unwind after a long week of exams. You'll run into a decent amount of teachers in there as well. Nothing beats having a couple cold ones with the guy who just handed you the hardest exam of your life.
Bang for the buck It's one of the cheapest universities that one can attend. The education itself is more than enough to convince students to want to go here. You will get a degree from one of the best, well-respected universities in the country for the same price as any state school.
What to do for fun There's loads to do around UC. Whether you're trying to catch a last minute movie at the on-campus movie theater or if you're trying to hit the gym in the campus recreation center, you're never short of options. There's a climbing wall and an olympic swimming pool in the center of campus too. Night life is great too with very short drives to downtown Cincinnati or to Newport on the Levee in Northern Kentucky.
Food and Dining Some of the greatest chefs in the country are in charge of the UC dinning halls. There's two main locations for students to grab a bite to eat. Each dinning hall is mixed with tons of variation in style, taste, and background of foods served.
Dorm Life With around 10 dorms to choose from, and even more off campus student housing, every student will find a place where they fit in well. The school does it's best to mesh it's students with fellow students in their programs to help get acquainted early on but they keep a steady balance of diversity as well.
Academic Rigor The programs are all instructed by some of the most respected members in the fields. Each program does more than prepare you for life after college.
Tips for prospective students Get involved early. There's so much to do with this school whether it be student organizations on campus or taking trips around the world to help needy communities. You get back ten fold what you put in, so don't hold anything back. What I had I gave, what I saved I lost forever.
In three sentences UC is one of the most well-rounded universities in the country. It has as many diverse students as it does diverse degree programs. The school not only has a great sports program, but it also has top notch academic programs and some of the most fulfilling student organizations available for every type of person.
