Great for these types of students

-Those in need of Financial Aid -looking to enter a Scientific Field -Enjoy a moderately large school (10,000+) -Searching for a Suburban setting -Want a taste of a Public 4-year University

    Tips for prospective students

It would be a great idea for you to get acquainted with the campus, meet some upper/lower-division students, athletes, and teachers, and look to find you major at at a dependable & worthwhile school

    Bang for the buck

OH YEA!!! The tuition is resonable, especially if you have scholarships, grants, financial aid, etc...and the reimburse your money towards the middle of the year if you have extra funds! Fantastic!!

    Am enjoying being here

Well since I was raised down south, Colorado was never the right place for me. However, UCCS shows a better side of Colorado I thought I'd never see, yet I still love the south & it'll always influence my views of this place.

    Am learning a lot

Apparently, even though the course work does increase in difficulty (like in high school) you actually get more engaged in your courses & want to discover better ways to expand your knowledge. Plus the Learning Center help here is excellent!! Go there if you ever need any help in Math, Science, Language, or Writing-type classes

    1. city dwellers 2. outdoorsy ( pikes peak, and lots of hiking opportunities) 3. military (the army rotc has an excellent program here)

    Tips for prospective students

    1. apply early, you will have a better chance of being admitted 2. complete the fafsa, and apply for a lot of scholarships, even if you think you're not eligible. 3. write a cool application essay, it will give you a personality among all the thousands of other applicants

    Bang for the buck

uccs is a very affordable school. the quality of education you receive is unparalleled to others, comparatively price wise. furthermore, there are copious amounts of grants and scholarships available to offset the cost.

    Am enjoying being here

UCCS, because it is small, has a great sense of community. being in Colorado Springs, there are a lot of great things to do and plenty of great places to eat.

    Academic Rigor

uccs is a very excellent school in terms of learning effectively and critically. the class sizes are small, and you get personal attention with the teachers. the curriculum is relevant to your degree, and every class is a learning experience.

Great for these types of students

UCCS is great for all students who are looking to go to a smaller university that gives you individual feedback, where you are considered a person, not just a number. UCCS has a great business and nursing program that leave students very successful in the end. And if you are into golf, there is a great golf program here and the golf team has gone on to nationals. The school itself is great for people looking for adventure, and enjoy the outdoors. The atmosphere is great and enjoyable for everyone!

    Tips for prospective students

Go into college with an open mind. College will change you no matter what, whether it is drastic or subtle. Just know that college is a learning opportunity not only for academics, but also about yourself. You learn how to live and take on your own responsibilities and you grow as a person. You make so many connections that if you ever need a favor or a reference, there is always someone around to help you out.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition here is not that bad if you are from instate. There are many programs if you need help paying for school but for the most part, the school is affordable. With the attention of professors and the great school atmosphere, the school is worth the money. You really get everything out of the classes you pay for, and your time and money is not wasted.

    Am enjoying being here

I absolutely love being at UCCS. The campus is gorgeous, with the mountain view of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods right around the corner. The campus itself is fairly new, with construction almost done, including our new science building, recreation center, and athletics building. I love the atmosphere here, and everyone is polite and friendly. You get to know the people on campus, especially if you are involved in the Greek life or other campus organizations. There are so many things to do and lots of places to go. There is never a dull moment!

    Am learning a lot

There are many classes to choose from here at UCCS. There are a variety of Colleges that you can be in, although being in a specific college on campus does not limit you to taking classes that are specific to your career plan. There are other classes such as the fine art and history of Wine, or history and theory of yoga. Either way you are learning so much at UCCS, and the teachers are great. They are mostly all personable, and are willing to meet with you one on one to help you with anything your are struggling on.

Great for these types of students

Great for all types. It is not a party school, but you can find at least one party on the weekends. Most people here are here to learn. All the majors have wonderful professors and a good list of classes.

    Tips for prospective students

It is really helpful to have a car here since there isn't much within walking distance. Also, the professors here are all extremely helpful and really care about you doing well.

Great for these types of students

    Hard working and dedicated students.

    Tips for prospective students

If you plan on attending UCCS make sure that you stay in the dorms. This will help you make more friends rather than feel like an outsider.

    Bang for the buck

With multiple events going on every week, UCCS students get their money's worth out of it.

    Am enjoying being here

Changing schools is a difficult process but UCCS made the transition easy for me.

    Am learning a lot

Within the first few months of attending UCCS I learned many new things that I didn't learn in high school.

Great for these types of students

You see all kinds of students on campus, and there are clubs that would appeal to anyone's interests! :)

    Tips for prospective students

If you are a communter student, arrive to class at least 15-20 minutes early (I usually arrive about 30 minutes early) because parking spaces are very limited. The parking garage usually has spaces if the lots don't (I almost always park in the garage anyway because then your car is protected from weather). Professors are usually very approachable, so just ask them about things if you have questions or problems.

    Bang for the buck

If you are a resident and apply for the COF (College Opportunity Fund), the tuition is really not all that expensive.

    Am enjoying being here

I have enjoyed all my classes so far! I haven't met a professor that I really disliked yet!

    Am learning a lot

The courses are challenging and fun, but not impossibly hard. Interpersonal Communication, Map and Compass, and Freshman Seminar are really fun! The standards are higher than they were in high school, but just give it your best and you will do okay!

    4-year, hard working, transfer,

    Tips for prospective students

Be ready for a great ride. It's totally different from high school, and different from other schools. You'll love it!

    Bang for the buck

This is really a cost effective method for someone who doesn't have the money for a big state or private institution, but is also either leaving community college, or just wants to go to a 4-year college.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is really beautiful, there is great student involvement. Even though it is a big city, it has a little city feel to it. I love all the programs I can get involved in, the help I can get at the learning centers and the amazing view of the mountains!

    Am learning a lot

The college is a little underrated, in my mind. The professors are all top notch, and they really know about their subject matter! You have to go to class though. Not many teachers will let you skip without verified documentation.

Great for these types of students

Anyone who likes being able to apply the things they are learning to real life and helping the community, enjoys outdoor activities, and interesting on-campus programs.

    Tips for prospective students

Go out and participate in the activities sponsored by housing at the beginning of the year, because they are a great way to meet almost everyone who lives on campus and create a tight-knit community. Get to know your teachers at the beginning of the semester, who are more than willing to spend extra time helping you, and take advantage of the learning centers or tutors if you're having trouble in classes.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is pretty inexpensive for the quality of education, but on-campus housing and meal plans are expensive. However, the price was worth the great experiences I've had there.

    Am enjoying being here

The housing team sets up an almost constant stream of activities, there are tons of interesting clubs to participate in, there is a great sense of community with people living on campus and the surrounding area is filled with opportunity and exciting experiences as well as natural beauty.

    Am learning a lot

I started learning a lot of great things as soon as I started attending here, not just in the classroom but from the many mentors and leaders they have available for advice on campus. Also, in classes, many teachers bring in information from world news and life experience, which makes it more interesting and easy to apply book knowledge to life.

Great for these types of students

    I don't even know.

    Tips for prospective students

From my experience, students here aren't very interested in making new friends. Not very outgoing, and many students here already come in cliques. But, If you know people already, it might be better. If you are shy, I wouldn't recommend it. A good college to get your core classes out of the way a bit cheaper, but honestly, I wish I had just gone to CSU in the first place.

    Bang for the buck

    Pretty average, I suppose.

    Am enjoying being here

Very beautiful campus, most staff are very nice. Although, a lot of students (including me) have had loads of trouble with the financial aid process. You can ask Is everything I need completed? a million times, and they will tell you yes, only to learn a week before classes start that you apparently owe $6,000 and a bunch or random late fees. UCCS staff will give you the run around, and you will probably end up doing most everything yourself, or finding yourself talking to the dean to get CORRECT answers. While they are nice, they don't seem to have all the knowledge required to help people with these matters.

    Am learning a lot

I suppose I am, although large class sizes can make it extremely difficult in certain subjects such as Chemistry. The Science Learning Center can offer extra help, but I would rather just learn from my actual class.

    Campus Safety

UCCS is connected to the police department of Colorado Springs as they also have their own police department there. They offer to escort you to were you need to go at night if you feel unsafe. Over all the campus security is excellent.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is a hammock hidden in campus that no one knows where it is at. There are also that every 2nd Tuesday, they have pancakes for the students for free to get breakfast before starting their classes in the morning.

    What to do for fun

There is the rec center where you can go to work out or attend one of their workout classes. The campus plan events to help the students to engage with campus and be able to get the school more. The Resident Assistant also plan programs for their floors to be involve and get to know their residents. But there are trails all over campus that you can go to take a hike. One of the trail take you to Pulpit Rock.

    Food and Dining

The food at UCCS is really diversified and they have a section for international food. Every week they have a different food from a different part of the world. They have the option to go to the Lodge to eat or you can go to Cafe 65 to eat. They offered food from different places of the world every week and its healthy and tasty at the same time. There are also restaurants around campus that you can go eat out if you get tired of the food at campus.

    Dorm Life

UCCS does not require their freshman to spend the first year with them. In fact they don't make it a requirement to the student to stay there. They offer apartments for students to stay at, or stay on the campus dorms that they have usually 3 bedrooms with a small living room, and a bathroom. This year UCCS had to open more places since the demand for housing was higher than what they expected. The new dorms are okay. The RA make events for the floors so its interactive. But if you have a problem in your dorm, it takes them a while to respond.

    Academic Rigor

They offer classes that will challenge you and an honors programs for fast accelerating learning. It is not like high school, you have to make sure that you turn in your work on time. Most professors won't accept late work. Also make sure that you don't skipped the class because the professor might take attendance that will count towards the grade and if you miss a class, you could miss important information.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that if you are considering this college to go to a tour to know the college. When you go on a tour at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS), make sure to take notes about the information that they give you and pay attention when their deadlines are. Also ask question even if they seem dumb but believe me it will help a lot.

    In three sentences

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) is a really nice campus that has an amazing view to the mountains. UCCS have a good campus tour that help future students decided if they like to go there for their college years. Also, UCCS has a variety of majors to satisfy every one's major preference.

    Campus Safety

There is campus security everywhere, along with those nifty emergency phones. I wouldn't suggest running around at night screaming - I tend not to suggest that anywhere, let alone on a campus - but the students here feel safe even walking around after dark.

    Greek Life

Unfortunately, no Greek Life. Unless you're talking about the Greek transfer students.

    Clubs and Activities

I admit, they don't have a Linux Users Support Group like the School of Mines close by, but darn if they have everything else. With the exception of Greek life and Lovecraftian cults, students have started just about every club imaginable here and kept them fairly successful. I'm thinking of starting a Cthulhu Fan Club, myself.

Great for these types of students

Do you game? Play Settlers of Catan? Camp? Make s'mores? Go to concerts? Enjoy amateur and professional music? Have laserpointer battles? Partake in the occasional water balloon fight? Feud with others over the most realistic depictions of light sabers in modern technology? Like salad bars and smoothies and greasy pizza? Play chess? Paint outside? Bet on who could survive the inevitable zombie apocalypse the longest? Like to learn? Like to hike and meet similar-minded people on those hikes? Like wearing mascot costumes? Come to UCCS.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

A lot of people dress up like the wildcat mascot, not just for Halloween. I've never been sure why - and I'm not referring to holiday occasions or football games. People come to class wearing wildcat costume heads; I think professors are used to it.

    Bang for the buck

The engineers who are avoiding School of Mines' ridiculous tuition go here, as do pre-meds, pre-vets, and students looking to save for graduate school. The education prepares you for graduate work and for going into work right after graduation, and it's $20,000 or so per year with huge deductibles for in-state and out-of-state students. So imagine about $25,000 for a Bachelor's in whatever you want.

    What to do for fun

There's a frisbee golf course right next to the dormatories. Beyond that, the downtown Colorado Springs is full of concert venues (headbangers), arcades (gamers), shopping malls and districts (spenders), and is located right next to the Red Rocks and Garden of the Gods. There's something for everyone and anyone.

    Food and Dining

I mentioned this in the new student tips. Never spend money off campus for food unless you're craving something specific. Clyde's, Jazzman's, and the normal cafeterias have fine dining, whether you're going for gourmet or casual cheeseburgers with friends.

    Dorm Life

This fluctuates with your roommates and floor, but the people who live on campus are serious about making the most out of their time at UCCS. Whether this is through academics, social life, extracurriculars, stargazing-- it's how you contribute.

    Academic Rigor

This mostly depends on the major you take and your aptitude for such. Science and engineering folk will have challenging but meaningful work-- I don't know about everyone else, though. My humanities classes were serious, though-- few people miss class here.

    Tips for prospective students

Eat on campus - buy those campus dollars. You don't need to spend extra cash at Chipotle's or Chicfillet because UCCS food is always delicious. And for underclassmen, live in the special housing (Honors, Outdoor Living) because it really brings your spirits up whne you're having the bad weeks.

    In three sentences

This place is for engineers, geologists, and communications majors that actually want to do something. The campus is safe and the professors are enlightening. The outside world around UCCS is stimulating and isnpiring.

    Nursing, health, engineering, communication, philosophy

    What to do for fun

Hiking, skiing, nightlife, camping, plays, concerts

    Food and Dining

Clyde's is the one and only on-campus dining option, but fortunately it features good on-tap beers and is decently priced.

    Dorm Life

    Avoid if at all possible.

    Academic Rigor

Having transferred from Montana State University, I can attest to the impact of having professors who genuinely availed themselves to inquiry and after-hours instruction. The professors at UCCS are their because they love to teach.

    Tips for prospective students

Obey the on-campus speed limit, 10 MPH, or else! The campus PD is notorious for anal-retentiveness. The shuttle from the bottom of the hill is a great, free option for those that don't want to pay the ridiculous cost of a parking permit.

    In three sentences

Education-focused that features dedicated instructors but minimal campus-community. Located in beautiful Colorado Springs, the school is an ideal option for outdoor-enthusiasts who like the conveniences that city-living can provide. Overall a well priced option for any student looking to make the most out of their post-secondary educational experience.

Great for these types of students

Anyone and everyone. I can't imagine a person that couldn't find his/her place here.

    Tips for prospective students

If you want to attend a school that is absolutely dedicated to the education of its students, go here!

    Bang for the buck

It's surprisingly within a reasonable price range! You can't pay enough for that mountain view.

    Am enjoying being here

This school amazes me more every day. I'm going on my third year here and have met some amazing people and professors. The dorms are nice, there no community bathrooms and living in the dorms helps to gain the large university experience. Obviously, I love this school, I wouldn't go anywhere else.

    Am learning a lot

The classes are smaller than some Universities which has allowed me to have more personal relationships with my professors; I might also mention that some of the professors here have done amazing things! (One of mine was an Alpine Skier in the Olympics! Another professor was a brave Paramedic!)

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is great. The campus police do a great job at keeping the campus safe. If there are wild animals spotted (this campus is near the mountains on a sizable hill) they send out an email to all students attending campus to warn them, and if anything happens they let everyone know. There are also panic buttons around campus in all the parking lots and every here and there that allow students to hit it and the campus police can either come to the student or talk to them through the speaker system.

    Bang for the buck

I believe that UCCS is definitely worth the tuition cost. Engineering courses are tough, but the professors here do a great job in teaching them, and I'm sure that the professors for the other majors do just as good a job! UCCS is even cheaper than many other universities around!

    What to do for fun

There are tons of campus activities year round that can be attended! These include music concerts from different local and popular bands, dances, unique games, and much, much more!

    Food and Dining

I only give the food and dining four stars because I think the food is good enough, but it is a little pricey.

    Dorm Life

I can't really rate this because I live at home to save money, but some of my friends live on campus and say that they have fun there!

    Academic Rigor

Depending on your major, this can vary greatly. For my major, I give it 5 stars because Mechanical Engineering is a difficult field of study but the professors here do a superb job at teaching these classes!

    Tips for prospective students

Some tips for those that want to attend UCCS is to take a Freshmen Seminar class. I took one and later assisted the professor in teaching it. It was fun and it also helps you to get oriented to the campus better.

    In three sentences

UCCS has a great campus full of many different people. Although it is a smaller university compared to others, it is still a great place to be. There are also many different majors that you can take here!

    What to do for fun

On campus, the best thing to do for fun is go to the recreational center. It is a healthy way to spend your time and there are a lot of things to do.

    Food and Dining

The food on campus is pretty good. The ladies that work there are wonderful. I like the variety of food they serve on a daily basis.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is great, the rest of the students have great personalities, and I love being around them. They motivate me to get school work done and I think that is the most important part of being in the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor at the university is pretty high, there are always people at the library. I found myself spending hours and hours in the library my first semester, but it wasn't a bad thing because I had my friends there with me.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to visit your advisors, and take a look around campus because there are lots of places you can go to get help with your first year of college, you just have to find it.

    In three sentences

The campus is beautiful, with a great view of the mountains. All the professors and advisors are very nice, and always willing to help. The dorms are great, and I like the environment in general

    What to do for fun

Since the University of COlorado is smack in the middle of Colorado Springs, there are many things to do. You can attend classes and do sports at the Rec Center or go outside and explore all the many things that Colorado has to offer. If you are an outdoors lover, this is the place to be.

    Food and Dining

There are multiple cafeterias and coffee carts set up throughout the campus. Very satisfying for a snack, full meal, or just to re-fuel with some caffeine.

    Dorm Life

I did not have a dorm experience. However, many students choose this option. I recommend this to new students who are seeking the college experience.

    Academic Rigor

I have been to three different universities and the University of Colorado is very comparable to the other universities when it comes to academic rigor. Obviously the further along you get in your degree, the harder the classes are. The University of Colorado is very comparable to other universities.

    In three sentences

The University of Colorado Springs is a great university for students who commute to school as well as students looking for the college experience. There are multiple programs to choose your major from and the class times are convenient for working students. It is a gorgeous campus with small class sizes, great professors, and is a great school to choose for a four year degree.

    Campus Safety

There is a UCCS police department on campus with patrol always around. There are blue safety buttons all over campus in case of an emergency and at any time you don't feel safe you can call the campus police to escort you to where ever you have to go. They also send out updates about safety and things to be aware of on campus through email.

    Clubs and Activities

There are tons of clubs available or so many different things. My favorite is the LARPing club (Live Action Role Playing) because you can see them all having a blast acting out dramatic battles with fake swords from the Overlook Cafe at the University Center. If you can think of it you can make a club about it, I am sure.

Great for these types of students

People who need more time with their teacher or want be able to connect with them easier. People who love the mountains and being outside. People who want a University education without the strains of excessive party-life like many other university. Anyone who doesn't fit the traditional college stereotype because the campus is so diverse, there are people young and old and of all races, social classes, and cultural back grounds.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, and the Manitou Incline are not very far from the Campus so if you like a good hike or just some time outside they are the places to go. Manitous Springs and Old Colorado City aren't too far from campus either, if you love eclectic shops full of interesting things check them out.

    Bang for the buck

You get the same University of Colorado level courses, with a small teacher to student ratio. That is worth the price in my opinion.

    What to do for fun

There is constantly fairs, clubs, and events going on all over campus. It is hard to go to school here and not at least pass by something. You have to make a conscious decision to avoid events to miss them at UCCS.

    Food and Dining

There are coffee shops all over campus that offer great baked goods, coffee, sandwiches, and snacks that are delicious. The cafe in the University Center lounge has a variety of fast food options and we can't forget Clyde's! Clyde's is a nice little hangout in the University Center that serves great food.

    Dorm Life

I can't entirely rate this accurately because I personally haven't lived in them, but I have seen them and they are clean with the same beautiful view the rest of the campus has. They are within 5-10 walk of virtually everything on the main campus.

    Academic Rigor

It is challenging, but not over the top. If you do your work, you should have no problem succeeding.

    Tips for prospective students

Come check out the campus, it is small and a lot more quiet than the other schools I have been to, but if you thrive in that kind of environment I highly recommend it. Also, talk to other people on campus, you might be surprised what kind of people you meet.

    In three sentences

Out of the four schools I have attended in Colorado, UCCS is by far the best. The classes are small and diverse, there are bound to be some people there you can relate to and the teachers are amazing. Plus it is gorgeous with the view of Pikes Peak out the front of every door.

Be strong, hang in there and do not listen to anyone. Keep your goals in view and never forget them because you will run into professors and/or faculty members at UCCS that want to bring you down; don't let them!

    In three sentences

UCCS is a good school. However, many of the departments I felt had a big ego. Thus, they made it much harder and stressful than it really needed to be. Many times in my career at UCCS I felt discouragment from faculty members and professors. I did not feel like many people there wanted to help me succeed. I never did transfer because I just wanted to finish my undergraduate at one place, but if I could do it all over again I would have went to a different school. However, going to UCCS has made me a stronger person.

The University of Colorado - Colorado Springs deserves a 7 out of ten. Although the school has not reached 10,000 students yet, the university provides many services that are crucial to the success of students and provides an opportunity none of the other branches can offer. Yet, the school must expand in order to make students feel less overwhelmed about how to achieve their education.

    Campus Safety

There are plenty of campus security and precautions here, but there is hardly ever anything like that happening. Plus, it's Colorado so most people are pretty friendly and understand that everyone is going about their own business. So you don't get bothered when you don't want to, yet the people are friendly so you can make friends with most anybody if you really wanted to.

    Clubs and Activities

There are plenty of intramural activities here and all of them but a couple are free to students. If sports are your thing, there's no shortage of them here.

Great for these types of students

If your an outdoors sort of person, you'll absolutely love it here! Beautiful sunsets almost every night and the view over the valley up to Pikes Peak is almost soothing.

    What to do for fun

Being in Colorado right next to Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods, there's plenty of outdoor/physical activities to do like hiking, biking, and any number of sports with open areas all around campus to play at. UCCS does a good job at planning activities as well, usually worth your while. The best part is that it's in a fancier area so there are plenty of shopping places around to meet your needs.

    Food and Dining

The Cafeteria food quality is inconsistent and doesn't have a whole lot of options. The snack bars and other dining places around campus, however, are quite delicious. You can get a meal plan with flex dollars to have some money for those places as well.

    Dorm Life

I live in the apartment style dorms so I'm not sure about the quality of the freshman dorms here, but the apartment ones are actually really nice. My favorite part is that you each get your own room and closet. You only have to share a bathroom/shower with one person and then the kitchen/living room with 3 people at the most. That doesn't include that these dorms have one of the best views on campus.

    Academic Rigor

The classes in here tend to vary in difficulty like anywhere else. I have classes where everything is done in class so there's no homework. I also have classes that you get a little project every couple weeks. others base your grade mostly on the few tests and quizzes throughout the semester, so it really depends on your teacher's style of teaching.

    Tips for prospective students

My number one tip is to stay on top of your classes. Procrastination is one of the biggest things that can hurt your grade, not to mention add a lot of unnecessary stress. I know, because I'm one of the worst ones at this. The grades come easy if you stay on top of it.

    In three sentences

It is a gorgeous campus with beautiful people to match it. The facilities are top notch both in look and in function. I Thoroughly enjoy being here.

There is always events going on! Go and cheer some of our sports teams or play some frisbee on the west lawn. UCCS always has something going on for student life. They also send out a weekly email stating the coming weeks events, which can also be found posted in the ROAR office of UC.

    Food and Dining

UCCS offers multiple ares to stop and grab something to eat. Whether it be at one of the coffee shops for a sandwich, The Lodge for a wide selection for lunch, or catching the game while enjoying a meal at Clyde's you wont run out of options, and if you think you do you can always leave and pick something up at the countless restaurants not five minutes from campus

    Dorm Life

While most of the students that attend UCCS drive to campus I've heard great stories about the dorms. They arent as large as your typical dorms so I'm told it's easier to get acquainted with others living there. They are also very close to many classes.

    Academic Rigor

How rigorous the courses can be are completely dependent on your major and how much work you put into the course. I put three stars because if you study and pay attention in lectures it is quite easy to end up with good and even great grades. However, Ive also seen many people struggle because they didn't put in the effort required.

    Tips for prospective students

The biggest tips I would give prospective students is to join a club and interact with your fellow peers. Make sure you use the writing center and all of the University's resources if you need them as they are very helpful.

    In three sentences

UCCS is an amazing university that enables the student to excel in his/her field of interest. Not only do they offer a wide range of majors but the class sizes are relatively small giving a closer connection with your peers and professors. They also have a wide range of clubs for students to join and create connections.

Our campus safety is wonderful! There are emergency help boxes all around and if you don't feel safe walking back from class alone at night you can call and get a police officer to walk you back. ( or if there is to much snow to walk back they can help you with that)

    Clubs and Activities

So many clubs and activities to do for all types of cultures, religions, and hobbies.

Great for these types of students

Great for people who dont want to be in a big school environment.

For homecoming, we have a male beauty pagent . And it is not uncommon to see people playing the screaming chicken game all around the dorms. The screaming chicken game is incredibly fun and is sorta on the down low.

    Bang for the buck

College is expensive but i feel like with all of the facilities that you can use and the size of the dorm rooms and the well educated teachers its definitely worth the money. and laundry is free in summit village.

    What to do for fun

There is always people outside on the turf or on west lawn playing Frisbee or some other sport that you can just get in on. you can also go down to four diamonds (the sports complex on campus) and see our schools teams play. Our Rec Center is AMAZING! and there is a water slide, a huge hot-tub and zumba and yoga classes!

    Food and Dining

The food is so diverse and very accesible. There are 3 resurant type places to eat and 3 coffee places as well. Its also not very expensive if people just come to visit.

    Dorm Life

The dorms here are great! the rooms are smaller than what you are used to at home but they provide plenty of space for all your stuff! the common areas in the suites are great for doing homework or taking a quick nap on the couch. Not to mention you just share a bathroom with your roommates.

    Academic Rigor

All of my classes now are more difficult then they were in high school but they are by no means impossible. If you utilize our schools facilities and your teachers office hours your classes will be a breeze.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't retake your SATs and ACTs to beat your friends scores! compare your scores with our schools and if you are in the upper 1/4 dont worry about retaking them! if you are sure this is where you want to go dont stress about them.

    In three sentences

    Campus Safety

You can be escorted by the police if you do not feel safe; plus there are buttons you can press to notify them of any danger around the campus. There is also a website you can go to sign up for text and email notifications as well as other resources that can help you. A program is offered in the Recreation Center and helps you with self-defense, which is another great attribute to the university.

    Greek Life

Greek Life? If we have one, I definitely don't hear about it...

    Clubs and Activities

People are very enthusiastic and social--clubs are where you will most definitely find them. You can make friends, do community service, and other activities. One of my roommates went on a retreat with her club members and had plenty of fun.

Great for these types of students

    1. Outdoorsy 2. Social (because if you are not, you will probably be bored until an event is held at the university) 3. Hard-working (unless you are going into a very easy major like some people I know) 4. World-friendly/Tree-huggers (the university is big on sustainability--compost, recycle, and saving light energy) 5. Walkers (it is a distance to get anywhere--unless you live in the Aspen residence where the lodge is conveniently close--with hills, stairs, endless sidewalks, and mountain-y paths)

    Bang for the buck

College is usually overpriced. Take the bookstore for instance. And the dorms are pricey, making apartments less expensive (but also less convenient since you have to drive and the apartments don't offer meal plans). Since I live in Colorado though, it is cheaper than out of state and some universities locally.

    What to do for fun

Plan events with your friends and go out. This university is not too fun, though do not get me wrong, there are awesome events. Go to the movies, join clubs, and hang out. Me and my roommates make Fridays 'Movie Night' and invite anyone we know and tell them to invite people we can meet. Working out for me is rewarding, so I guess I can consider that fun too.

    Food and Dining

It is good, but it gets very repetitive after a while. Better than high school food at least. The meals do not change very much and I have been eating fries with every meal for most of the time I have been here (even with my salads--they have good fries in my opinion). You can change your meal plan as well and when you get something called munch money, you can use it at Cafe 65 which has a variety of food stops, or at Clyde's which is open longer, but is a bit more expensive. Walmart and other stores aren't too far, so if you don't like the food, you can buy it yourself--though if you decide to do that, make sure it fits your meal plan or you're just wasting money.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are not the best. I mean, you can adapt quickly, but they won't have you amazed. The college apartments are much better, but you have to wait until the next year to get one. Bring decorations, just a heads-up. The good thing about dorms is that there are safety checks, fire alarms that are really loud (ouchies), and it is easier to hear about events going on in campus due to the R.A. putting up posters or announcing it

    Academic Rigor

I am in the Bachelors of Innovation and it is a pretty rigorous track to go into. The classes really set you to work, but it is all worth it when all is said and done. There are some majors where students do little to nothing though.

    Tips for prospective students

TIP#1: Remember to get all the money you need for school. The university is not very helpful at getting you financial aid or recommending places to get the rest of the money. This is specifically for the students that FAFSA automatically (and unfairly) assumes are rich. TIP#2: Sleep! It is not only healthy for you and your immune system, but also for focus in class. This is for those classes that have little interaction and more lecture. TIP#3: Study and do homework. Yes, you will still have a social life after you get your homework and studying out of the way. If you are worried about not having a social life, try to study and finish homework early--I do that and it comes in handy. TIP#4: Go into a major that will get you a job. I know that people say, Do what you love, but sometimes what you love won't get you a job. I decided to minor in what I love and major in Computer Security. It'll be better for you to get a decent-paying job than to be looking for dead-end ones that have nothing to do with what you studied. TIP#5: Try not to fail or drop classes. If you are about to fail though, drop it. TIP#6: Exercise! It makes you feel great, lessens the stress, and you won't have to worry about gaining the infamous 'Freshman 15'. I don't know if you have to worry about gaining that in this school though. There are plenty of stairs and classes take time to get to. If you don't want to be out of breath for walking for five minutes, exercising is the way to go.

    In three sentences

I rate this university an 8 because: most of my teachers are very good at what they do and when they are not, there are other resources, from peers to tutors. The school is a little boring and you have to seek out events because it isn't publicized very well. Financial aid does not help me very much either, but other than that, I like the school.

    Campus Safety

As a whole, the campus is really, really safe. There are emergency boxes (lit up with a blue light) where you can hit a button and get help immediately. Public safety is quick to repsond to a call if its in an emergency situation. However, they are not very responsive to noise complaints and drug abuse on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs here at UCCS! We have everything ranging from international clubs, academic clubs, greek life, etc. If you can think of it, we have a club for it. I think everyone should get involved in at least one club because they are so fun.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Cafe 65 is my favorite place to eat on campus. It has tons of choices and the food is always amazing.

    Bang for the buck

College will be expensive no matter where you go nut I feel UCCS is both accurately and fairly priced for the experience and education you are getting.

    What to do for fun

Rec center has fantastic work out equipment and the pool is really fun. There are also theater performances & art gallery showings that are free to UCCS students.

    Food and Dining

The food in the Lodge is awesome if you do not have any dietary restrictions. They have lots of options, foods from a variety of cultures, and they consistenly have good pizza, burgers, fries, and salad bar.

    Dorm Life

I dislike dorm life. UCCS doesn't use room mate matching so all of your room mates are randomly selected. IF you have a conflict with your room mate and your RA cannot help you solve it, the housing staff are useless. They often choose sides and don't make it a fair and safe enviroment. If you get good room mates and you all get along perfectly, then its a non issue. But you are taking a gamble.

    Academic Rigor

I would say that courses are average. I have a few classes that are at the same level as highschool of even less. Only a few classes truly require a lot of work or out side studying. But I am a Comm major so I suppose it truly does depend on your major.

    Tips for prospective students

I would reccomend living off campus - housing on campus may seem like a good idea but housing staff isn't very friendly when you need assistance with something or you need help to resolve an issue.

    In three sentences

UCCS is awesome because it is located in a great area of Colorado Springs. There are a lot of off campus housing options nearby. There are also lots of off campus activites to do around town!

    Food and Dining

There are plenty of places to go on campus as well as places near campus that are satisfying to your dining needs.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is pretty exciting. As a student who has really lived at home with the same people for 18 years or so, moving into the dorms is a new experience. If you have great roommates like I do then you're fine, if not then you are able to switch at the end of the first semester.

    Academic Rigor

Academically, UCCS is moderately rigorous. Again it depends on the major you are taking.

    Tips for prospective students

For UCCS, it depends on the major you are taking. If you are a biology major, like I am, the courses are only hard if you don't study as much as you can for each quiz, test, or exam. In other words, don't slack when it comes to doing work outside of class.

    In three sentences

I would have to say as my first choice in colleges UCCS is a great college. As a freshman here I have been able to meet new people and have lots of connections on campus with staff and students. The connections have allowed me to get more in depth with my classes by being comfortable within my learning environment enabling me to ask questions and not be afraid to do so.

    Tips for prospective students

Take school seriously, because later on in life it will just be harder.

    In three sentences

This college is close to family and friends, and nothing beats being close to home. It offers a lot of great programs and is affordable school.

    Campus Safety

The campus safety is the best. If you feel uncomfortable to walk to your dorm at night then you can call the campus for a drive to the dorms. If there is any issues as stalked; getting a hold of the police officers is easy and they would help quickly and efficiently.

    Food and Dining

The food is great, but there are those moments where the food could use some improvement. And nothing is better than having those meals on campus that remind people of home cooking.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life in my opinion is an experience that every student should experience. You have the sense of responsibility. You would be able to be more social to other people on campus.

    Academic Rigor

The course that is taken can be tricky, but having your professor there to explain the material and classmates to help; would give boost to being successful.

    Tips for prospective students

I would make sure you ask a lot of questions to the people who represent the school. Ask about how the campus life is, to meet a couple of professors that are teaching the major you want to have your degree on, ask about their programs, and what are some tips they have to stay in the University.

    In three sentences

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is a good University. The professors that i have met do care about the academics they are teaching. In the University you have some assistance with the professors and students.

    Campus Safety

Safety is taken very seriously here. The Campus police notify students and faculty of any potential dangers through email almost immediately and the campus has had little to no major incidents since my stay here.

    Greek Life

There are fraternities and such here, but because I'm with my church group often I can't say how involved they are, except that I know there are several on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a TON of clubs here. I was a part of the SPLAT video game club for a while, and they treat their members well. There is a club for just about everyone.

Great for these types of students

Students who want to go to a cheaper college to get a good degree in some engineering or nursing major, save more money, and have the out doors of Colorado available to them.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There aren't really any weird traditions on campus, in large part due to the fact not a lot of people live on campus, so on campus traditions are not developed since the college is just now starting to bloom in popularity.

    Bang for the buck

You're paying for a lot when it comes to the University Center. Plus you have the free hiking trails and beauty of Colorado to enjoy.

    What to do for fun

The University Center has ping pong, rock climbing, Foosball, sports leagues, and a large workout area. You're already paying for it with tuition so might as well use it! Also there are tons of hiking trails and out door activities in Colorado that are FREE.

    Food and Dining

Sodexo took over all the food services this semester. Before the food was just okay, but now the food is good, just over priced and NOT healthy. Personally if you want to save money just make your own lunch. The dorm food is pretty poor to average cafeteria food, whereas the two other dining choices (Cafe, Sodexo, and Bar) are just average. There are plenty of off campus options for dining, like some good burger joints and Chipotle. Again though, I'd recommend making your own food to save money and be healthier if you can.

    Dorm Life

The majority of people live off campus here. The dorms are small, and the community is not as close or fun perhaps as you'd get out of a larger state college. However they are expanding the dorms to attract more out of state people, but the food and life in dorms is just average or below.

    Academic Rigor

In the computer science department there is a mixed batch here. Some teachers are awesome, and I've had some horrible teachers. The level of difficulty seems to depend mostly on the teacher and how much you study (who would've thought!) I'd say the academics are certainly decent here and the programs seem to be improving over the last 2.5 years I've been here.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit the campus first to get an idea of the location of the school. If you're an engineering major, you'll spend most of your time in the Engineering building, so visit there and explore the class rooms. This building is the oldest so it's not as modern as the other buildings. I'd recommend also NOT living on campus and finding a way to commute if you can. You can save a lot of money this way. Four diamonds is a place you can park for free and take the bus to save paying the over priced parking permit (360$ a year I believe).

    In three sentences

The University has great programs for Engineering and Nursing. This college is especially recommended to students who live in state and would like not to live on campus. The campus is also modern and the local out door activities are abundant for hiking, skiing/snowboarding, and the university has a top notch work out facility for those interested.

    Campus Safety

There aren't too many psychos on campus, but if you ever feel unsafe you can always call campus security.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a lot of clubs you can join on pretty much any random topic you can think of. It's also pretty easy to start your own.

    What to do for fun

There's a rec center with a gym, weight room, and a swimming pool. There's also a video game area and pool tables in the university center. There's a decent amount of school organized events it kind of dies down after the first week of the fall semester.

    Food and Dining

The food in the lodge can get a bit old after a while, but there are plenty of other restaurants on campus

    Dorm Life

The freshman dorms are pretty nice, they are well kept and clean. They also have free cable.

    Academic Rigor

There are plenty of majors and programs of study to choose from. The class sizes are small (most of the time) and the professors are good (at least all the ones I've had are).

    Campus Safety

Campus Security is serious about what they do. You can call 24/7 and can get escorts to walk you to your car if you do not feel comfortable. There are also several emergency phone stations to make you feel even safer.

    Greek Life

We do have Greek Life. There are no houses for them on campus though.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs that you can join, you just have to find the right one. We used to have a beard lover's club, so if you had a beard or just liked beards you could participate! There really is a selection for everyone.

Great for these types of students

Outdoorsy, Athletic, Nursing students, Engineer students, and anyone who would enjoy a well-sized school in a growing city

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Foam dance party every fall, and the turf is a great place to study play football or tan.

    Bang for the buck

If you are in-state, which most students are, you can get a good education with great resources for a 'bargain'.

    What to do for fun

The OSA (office of student affairs) is great about hosting events throughout the year. You can do 'The March', where you walk down to Four Diamonds and cheer on the women and men soccer teams and later go to the bonfire. They also have free movie nights, with popcorn, candy, and drinks provided. There are several hiking trails nearby, and you can hike The Bluff which is right where campus is situated. You can definitely find something to do on campus or in town.

    Food and Dining

The Lodge is the cafeteria located in Summit Village, the food is really average and provided by sodex-ho. Clyde's is a restaurant and pub that is pretty popular there are pool tables and flat screen tv's throughout the area. They also have game night's, poetry readings, etc. They just redid a cafe in the University Center, it is now called Cafe 65. Decent food at o.k. prices. They play good music and the environment is fun and modern. There are also several coffee shops across campus. The most popular is Jazzman's which is right down the stairs from Cafe 65. They have a large selection of coffee and some danish's, sandwiches, and yogurt. Essentially, you have a good variety of places to eat.

    Dorm Life

I personally never lived in the dorms. Summit Village largely consists of Freshman; however, Alpine Village is where Sophomores+ live. UCCS also just bought and now owns the majority of an apartment complex, Sunset Creek, which they call Timberline Village. There is a free shuttle service from Sunset Creek to campus and is a quick walk from The University Village. Overall, the dorms are nice, there isn't anything particularly unique about them. And all of my friends who live on campus like their neighbors and how many events that are provided for them and students who live off-campus.

    Academic Rigor

It can be difficult if you don't study for tests and don't show up to class. It's like any other university, you need to put the effort into your class to get the most you can out of it.

    Tips for prospective students

You need to visit campus. I have lived in the Springs my entire life and was extremely opposed to attending UCCS. However, after visiting and seeing the environment they have created I knew that this is where I needed to go.

    In three sentences

UCCS has really grown into itself within the last several years. It has become a more modern and larger school, while still retaining it's charm and wonderful location. The several additions and campaigning for younger students has made it a great local, state and national university.

    Greek Life

There is a small greek life on campus, but the ones who are there are proud to be there and are heavily involved around campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are hundreds of clubs to choose from. If you are unable to find one that interests you then start your own.

    What to do for fun

Join a club. There are hundreds of clubs and organizations on campus. Find one that is interesting and go to the meetings.

    Food and Dining

There isn't a whole lot of (good) dining options on campus. The main place to go is Clyde's which is the pub on campus. It's a great place to go when you want to hang out with your buddies. Other than on campus there is the University Village down the road that has a few dining options.

    Academic Rigor

I am personally not the best student, but every professor I have had has been great and has truly tried their best to help out each and everyone of their students.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved. Don't just go to your classes then go home. Get involved with clubs and other activities that go on around campus. It'll make your college experience that much better!

Great for these types of students

UCCS is great for students who like to try new things. There are many clubs and a wide variety of classes to explore. It has a very tight community feeling even though it is a large school. It is also great for students who want smaller classes.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Disorientation week during the second week of the semester. There are all kinds of free events from concerts, movies, parties, and lots of free food. The best place to hang out is around West Lawn because that is where most of the events take place.

    Food and Dining

There are a lot of great places to eat on campus, and a lot of groups and people who just give away free food.

    Dorm Life

I do not live in the dorms so I do not have first hand experience, but I have heard great things form many of the students.

    Academic Rigor

Even though the staff is really helpful the classes are challenging with many projects and papers. A lot of things seemed to be do at the same time and tests in different classes usually happen on the same day so studying can be frantic.

    Tips for prospective students

Take advantage of the center for students success. The writing center is great for help with any piece of writing, even if it is not academic, and the math center has great tutors and sample problems to study with. The only thing the school lacks is staplers so bring one with you.

    In three sentences

University of Colorado Colorado Springs is a fast changing school there are always new things to do in campus and new parts of the school being build. The people are friendly and the staff really wants to help. It is a great place to transition out on high school.

    Tips for prospective students

Know why you are in school. Then connect with other students in your field.

    In three sentences

The teachers I have had at UCCS are interested in research and creative works as well as great teachers. If you put forth the effort to communicate with them they really are willing to help. I also love the view from almost any point on the campus.

    In three sentences

The campus is big and full of opportunities, but can lead to students getting lost in the crowd. For being there for only one semester so far I have had three professor issues already, none of which were easily fixed. Campus Safety

Campus safety is wonderful. We always have police going around 24/7. You have your Resident Advisors who are there on call 24/7. You can always manage to feel safe here.

    Clubs and Activities

We have a club fair once every semester and there is at least 60 clubs here already on campus. Everyone can find something to do. If you don't find two other people and you can start your own club.

    Bang for the buck

I think it's definitely worth it to come to this school. You get your money's worth. They have so many ways to help you through your first year experience. There is so many fun activities and I think everyone can find their own way of fitting in here.

    What to do for fun

This school has many trips to skiing and snowboarding. You can hike here or go chill in the pool, hang out in the hot tubs. Or have movie nights in the grass. There is something here for everyone.

    Food and Dining

We have a lot of coffee shops stationed all around campus. We also have a meal room called Clyde's Diner and it gives you a great restuarant experience without the restuaraunt cost. Plus, we have Cafe 65 which has great food also. The only downfall is the lodge where most of the food is nasty.

    Dorm Life

The amount of space in the dorms are a little too small. They are currently building more dorms at this moment though. So who knows about next year. You have to just be careful of who you will be rooming with. If you don't like your roommates it's pretty easy to respect them from a distance.

    Academic Rigor

The classes here can be difficult. Especially for those who were taught one way, then have to learn another. As long as you take the time to study then you should be fine. We have a lot of tutoring options here and most teachers will work with you.

    Tips for prospective students

Really, go to class and study at least once a week for each class you take. Make new friends here and go to a few of the activities here. Most of them are really fun to go to.

    In three sentences

While currently the dorm situations they have here aren't the best. It is a lovely area and the majority of the teachers' are terrific. I love it at this school and think many others would too.

    Greek Life

There are 2 Greek life places for each gender but no houses so personally, I don't see the point in paying for the membership.

    Clubs and Activities

It only takes two people to create a club so there is quite a bit of diversity in that area. The intramural sports are fun to cooperate with too.

Great for these types of students

Nursing, Engineering, PGA and Sport Management (due to Olympic Training Center and Pro sports connections)

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The best thing that comes to mind is the FOAM dance party. The sticky, slippery foam was something new for my dance experience.

    Bang for the buck

It's one of the cheapest CO schools but it always helps to be onstage to get the extra scholarships.

    What to do for fun

You definitely need to make a few friends but most of my spare time is spent at school dances, events, sports etc. Off campus there is the typical movies, malls, and my favorite... PAINTBALLING!!

    Food and Dining

The lodge (main dining area for the meal plan) is mediocre. It is run by Sodexo and rumor has it that they are the same ones to work in the jails in CO.

    Dorm Life

My best friends in college have been the people I share my room with or live right down the hall from. The RAs are helpful for everything from directions on campus to advice for life.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on your major and what classes you take, the classes can be easy or hard based on how much you actually want to work for the good grade.

    Tips for prospective students

Stay updated on the different events the school offers because most are great ways to be more social and save a couple bucks.

    In three sentences

UCCS is great university for medium sized classes and professors who are easy to talk to. The dorms are a great place to make friends and be close to people of like minds. The campus weather is unpredictable and the food at the lodge is mediocre at best but it's worth it in the long run.

    Campus Safety

The campus emphasizes on their safety. They have cops patrolling the area 24/7, so you will feel safe no matter where you go. If someone is following you and you don't feel comfortable, they you can use their thing that they call a 'call box'. They have about 80 'call boxes' around the entire campus, so you can use that to call the police, and they will be there in a jiffy.

    Clubs and Activities

They have a lot of clubs, sports, and events that are within this campus. They have about 200 different clubs/activities. They will have big events that will happen; such as having Will Smith coming to visit the campus, or have Bill Nye the science guy some and visit the campus.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for students whom want to have a relationship with their professors, or people whom want to have a smaller class size. it's also great for students who don't mind having a smaller campus, so that they could get to their classes at a much faster rate.

    Bang for the buck

For this school having an amazing education program, you honestly feel like you're stealing from them. Their cost is immensely lower than most higher colleges, but the education is way worth it.

    What to do for fun

There are numerous ways of having fun. You can join a freshmen seminar class that could have a lot of fun activities. You could go hiking, camping, or you could head down to the city to meet up with some people at a local cafe.

    Food and Dining

The food and dinning was surprisingly good. I thought that I would detest the food, but it amazed me at how good it is. It's robust, sexy, and it adds a kick to your taste-buds.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life can be hectic, but it's extremely exciting and fun. You get a chance at meeting new people from different areas from around the world that you could room with. When you live on a certain floor, you will be able to get a chance at knowing every single person on that floor, when you move in. If you don't like to meet new people, then you could live by yourself, or you could room with someone you know from your high school days.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor at this institution is extremely important for their students. They will help at any cost for their students to be able to succeed in their schooling; they will provide help from counselors, professors, and from some co-workers.

    Tips for prospective students

They should always have fun, loosen up, and more importantly stick to their studies. They should also be looking for tons of scholarships and grants; if they are not able to get any their first time, then they should still keep looking because they could have a chance at getting a scholarship.

    In three sentences

This university is extremely engaged in its students. They want to prepare them for their futures and the real world. They have their students get involved in so many activities that can get them out of their shells and have a chance at meeting new people and being able to make new friends along the way.

Around the clock campus safety, not only on campus but also around town, Colorado Springs is one of the safest cities in the US

    Greek Life

Very small Greek Life, but also very close knit groups of people.

    Clubs and Activities

over 200 clubs that are around campus there's something for everybody. If you love the outdoors lots of camping and rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, things like that. If you don't there's clubbing, dancing, bars, and many others.

Great for these types of students

Has one of the best engineering and nursing programs out there. Also if you want to party not for you. If you want a small campus with small class sizes it's perfect.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The foam dance party has happened every year and it is one of the BEST dances that I've every experienced. Also the Kappa Sigma pool party happens at the beginning of each semester and gets bigger every single year and is a lot of fun. There is also the underwear run (bring clothes that you want to donate) where you run across campus and back which i don't have to explain why is a lot of fun ;)

    Bang for the buck

Fairly inexpensive school and the classes are great for the price.

    What to do for fun

There are a lot of trails for hiking. Great rock climbing all around. Garden of the Gods is another place for hiking. Concerts happen at a lot of the clubs around town.

    Food and Dining

    Not very appetizing!

    Dorm Life

Great place to get to know the other students around campus

    Academic Rigor

    The classes are fairly challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that you get advice from students who are in your field area on teachers to take and help with any sort of work. It's a small campus but deceptively so, make sure you leave at least 10 minutes early for classes. The library is almost always open, USE IT, as well as the math and science learning centers and the language lab.

    In three sentences

Small class sizes help with a one-on-one learning style. There's a lot of outdoor activity opportunities with great views of the mountains. Adaptive learning styles for everybody.

    What to do for fun

There are a lot of activities and organizations to get involved with on campus. Take advantage of these.

    Food and Dining

If you can, don't eat the cafeteria food!

    Dorm Life

I did not enjoy dorm life, living with people is a major change, be prepared!

    Academic Rigor

I am currently in the process of receiving a nursing degree, the work is very hard and tedious.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to research you professors before hand to be sure you are getting the best.

    In three sentences

Wonderful school! Mainly a commuter school so you have the opportunity to meet a wide variety of people. This school is also located in a beautiful spot with wonderful views.

    Food and Dining

With little cafes and eateries on campus, it's easy to get a great tasting coffee or a quick bite to eat between campus. The food is delicious and is pretty affordable, especially for students who don't have a meal plan but want to eat on campus every once in a while.

    Dorm Life

Since UCCS is mainly a commuter school, the dorms aren't huge. I haven't personally stayed in the dorm halls, but I've heard they're really nice, and people have really great experiences staying in the dorms. It's a great way to make friends and there are a lot of bonding activities for dorm students.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging without being too much. You can get a decent grade in each class without having to cram every night and stress out about getting six hours of studying in each day.

    Tips for prospective students

Check out the campus before you apply and make sure it's definitely a fit for you. If you attended a smaller high school, you'll definitely feel comfortable with the size of UCCS in comparison to huge universities.

    In three sentences

UCCS has a beautiful, intimate campus that anyone could fall in love with. With just a few thousand students attending, it's easy to develop a personal relationship with professors instead of just feeling like a number. On top of the great campus and small student population, the in-state tuition is really affordable and I know I'm getting an awesome education for the price.

    Campus Safety

Very safe with a police station right on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There is a club for anything you can think there would be a club for.

    Bang for the buck

The classes and teachers are amazing! Pretty much going to a $50,000 school for $33,000 (out of state tuition), $17,000(instate, I think.)

    What to do for fun

honestly... Party, I don't personally party but I guess they are fun that's why they happen so often. Play on a club/intramural team or join a club, there is a club for everything.

    Food and Dining

Food is outstanding and there are many different options.

    Dorm Life

Dorms are new and innovated. I don't live in the dorms but my friends do and they love them. Only down side is they get extremely hot.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are rigorous and enjoyable at the same time. Well more rigorous than the price of the school shows.

    Tips for prospective students

If you want to go here, APPLY. GPA isn't all that matters! Write a killer reason why they should accept you! This school is well worth it. The price is fair and the classes are excellent!

    In three sentences

UCCS is very connected throughout the entire campus, teachers, administration, and students, everyone works together to make the campus safer and more energy efficient. The campus is large enough to feel less like high school but small enough to not be to overwhelming. Students, and teachers alike are both very friendly and courteous.

    Campus Safety

There have been a few incidents on or around campus, but for the most part campus is pretty safe. There are several emergency boxes all over campus and UCCS police patrolling on a regular around the entire campus. Also if you need an escort to your car or to a part of camps the UCCS police will gladly help.

    Clubs and Activities

There are over a 150 clubs and activities at UCCS. There is no way that there wouldn't be a club or activity that wouldn't interest you. If so, create the club that is to your liking, all you need is permission and 3 or more members to start it off. You'll never be bored at UCCS!

    Bang for the buck

The campus store is a complete rip off. For instance if you need books for class, you have a better chance of getting a cheaper price from amazon or other textbook website. Only use the store for textbooks as your last option. Everything else is ridiculously overpriced, unless you really want to spend over $30 dollars for some hoodies, sweats, and other piece of clothes that you could get from Wal-Mart for $10 dollars.

    What to do for fun

The are plenty of events to keep anyone occupied. If not a club event, a school event or the areas around the campus to hang out at. For instant there are sports events, concerts, dances, Homecoming Week, and other events during the school year.

    Food and Dining

Most people go off campus to get food, or have mini fridge to in their rooms. The food from the lodge wasn't particularly good, it lacked flavor and didn't have enough condiments to cover up the bland flavor. The best food there was the fruit. Clyde's on the other hand has some really good food that is packed with flavor. It's also convenient for the students that didn't have a car to get around, to just walk over to the University Center to eat.

    Dorm Life

Living in the dorms was like living in a party house. The walls are pretty thin so you can hear everything and even smell some things. I would have to open my window and turn on the fan air out my room because my room smelled like the my neighbors room down the hall. It seems like someone is doing something every day of the week and it's worse on the weekend sometimes. I such if you have multiple roommates, talk and go over some dorm rules so you can all get along. If multiple roommates is not your style there are also single rooms, but it might be hard to get to know anyone in the dorms when you have a room to yourself.

    Academic Rigor

Once classes begin there will be plenty of study groups and study sessions with classmates or other people that take it at another time. There is also the Writing Center that provide fellow peers to help develop your writing skills. Professors are also will to give that extra help and you can make an appointment during their office hours.

    Tips for prospective students

To avoid boredom and isolation, join a club, become a part of the school events and activities, or make friends with people you have something in common with. Don't slack on academics though, find a balance between a social life and school, otherwise college won't seem as fun or you'll flunk out your first year. Be respectful and mindful of your roommates, because you never know what kind of people you are living with until a situation happens. Also pack reasonable clothing, the roommates don't heat very well, and it can be freezing in your rooms, so pack extra blankets and warm clothes.

    In three sentences

The University of Colorado in Colorado Springs is always bustling with life, there is always something to do on campus. The school had a very friendly atmosphere where one could make friends quite easily. The academics here are taken seriously, and the faculty are will to help any students that need it.

    Bang for the buck

The education I am receiving is a phenomenal value because I live at home, so my total bill each semester is about $5,000.

    What to do for fun

Join clubs! Like I said before, the clubs open countless doors for meeting people and having a better time in college. As far as the area goes, the campus is about 2 hours away from world class skiing and there are many places to go hiking or biking right here in town.

    Food and Dining

There is only 1 main place to use your meal plan called the Lodge. The food here is pretty good as far as dorm food is concerned at the environment is clean and friendly looking. I have never been either extremely satisfied nor extremely unsatisfied with the food here.

    Academic Rigor

The classes here vary in difficulty depending on your major. Most of the general education classes aren't too bad as long as you do the homework and come to class (and pay attention of course). Overall, the academic rigor is highly dependent on the work you are willing to put into a class.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved! There are over 200 clubs and organizations to join on campus. It is a great way to meet people and make college a more fun and exciting time. Try things you wouldn't normally try! You might be surprised at what you might like.

    In three sentences

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is a fantastic school to consider if you're the type of student who likes small class sizes, friendly teachers, and a positive atmosphere. The campus is beautiful and the people are friendly, it is a great place to transition into college life.

Greek life is sub par. If that's your aim this isn't a good place for you.

    Clubs and Activities

There is a lot of clubs and organizations on campus to get involved in! And the events they host are fantastic.

    What to do for fun

There is a lot to do for fun, from going hiking and rock climbing to bowling and clubbing. There are also a lot of clubs and organizations to choose from. They make it easy for new clubs to form, so if you don't see one you like, just make one.

    Food and Dining

It's college food. On the bright side next year they are not contracting out their dinning services so it will be all in house which will make the dinning experience much better.

    Dorm Life

I love the dorm life here on campus. It's lively and fun with lots to do. You really get to know people.

    Academic Rigor

Some majors are much harder then others but all the faculty challenge and support you in your academics. They make the assignments difficult but not impossible.

    Tips for prospective students

If you like outdoors, this is a college for you. There are trail heads that are right behind the res halls. There is beautiful scenery all around UCCS. Also Garden of the Gods and Pike's Peak are within a short driving distance from campus. If you get involved in clubs and organizations here on campus you will love this school even more. If you like being a big fish you can here since the student population is small enough that you can be president of a couple different clubs if choose too. UCCS is also paving the way for Wellness and Fitness in universities.

    In three sentences

UCCS is an amazing school. The students here are all very friendly and the staff and faculty are here to help every student succeed. There's small classroom sizes and resource centers to help assure you get those passing marks. The view from the school is also outstanding. Campus Safety

There is much campus security around, creating a secure environment without ruining the college experience. I can feel safe leaving something important in my car without having it stolen or broken into. The best part of the security is that they work on reducing the rates of stalking and sexual harassment through their force, as well as teach students how to defend against those situations.

    Clubs and Activities

Between the 200 different clubs and activities, there will be something for someone. However, with so many clubs, there will be those that don't do much, but from what I have seen, club life is active and important to the community of UCCS,

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Instead of having a tailgate party to celebrate a football game, a whole slew of students will walk from campus to the sports complex to show their school spirit for our decent soccer team on one night.

    Bang for the buck

for a $9000 tuition and relatively inexpensive dorms, the quality of everything on campus is superb. For incoming freshman, it is superb because unlike many large schools, you aren't forced to live of campus, which grants access to many more incoming students. They also have freshman seminars, which do help you stabilize your starting semester of college, lessening the chance you will waste $10,000 (which I would highly recommend).

    What to do for fun

You can join one of over two hundred clubs and activities when you are done with classes, but if not, you are only a few minutes walk from the city. Surrounding UCCS are also

    Food and Dining

Unlike other colleges I have been to, UCCS strives to make a quality atmosphere with quality food. There is the regular cafeteria, but on campus, there are also a couple other restaurants with decent food. However, the aspect that makes UCCS so unique is that they have a food delivery service for on-campus people (for if you're too sick or busy to eat out).

    Dorm Life

Although I don't live in the dorms, I have heard that the dorms a pretty decent. They are never neglected, and the rooms are rather spacious for dorms. The only drawbacks are: power strips cannot be used and there's no form of cooking in the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

I have no real knowledge about the other fields, but the academic rigor of the engineering department is pretty tough. Not only are the academic policies strictly enforced, but the requirements for engineering students are growing - giving them more understanding of other fields of engineering.

    Tips for prospective students

Like all other colleges, spend a majority of your time studying. On campus, there is a great library with many resources, as well as tutoring centers that actively help out for 12 hours a day (on weekdays).

    In three sentences

Although it is not a top tier college, UCCS has a great mechanical engineering program that is being emphasized more every year. As for the campus, I have been to larger campuses, but I prefer UCCS because not only are they constantly improving it, but they also strive to maintain the natural beauty of the original landscape. To wrap up UCCS, it's a great school with growing programs and hundreds of extracurricular activities, giving it a 4.5/5 stars.

Quick and easy for when you're on the go. Pricing might set your wallet on fire though. They have a lot of cold food and not enough hot. The subs are best from the cafe though.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is alright. I don't live on campus but I have friends who do. The dorms are huge but the rooms are small or decently sized. Organized, clean, but also very loud from time to time.

    Academic Rigor

It entirely depends on the professor. Some make their classes hard, others make it easy. It will change each semester for you and things can be tough at some point - especially near finals. Don't give up, study, and do your homework! Make sure to stay on top of everything, academically it can get a little bumpy.

    Tips for prospective students

Do your research! UCCS has a lot to offer in terms of Major and Minor. You will likely change it at least 4 times while in your freshman year and it's okay. Frequently visit your adviser to sort out your credits and classes. Look into the tuition and see if you need to live on campus or not. Also save some cash for books and supplies to be set aside. It can get pricey, gauge your money well.

    Campus Safety

The police on campus are often more of a nuisance than of any real comfort. Due to the parking issues on campus, there is a temporary parking lot about a mile away from campus that is for on-campus students only. It is a dark walk and there is no way to contact anyone if a cellphone is not owned/working. Try to avoid going out late at night. Generally UCCS is mellow even at night. It is safe enough to walk around campus at night. I believe Campus Security is willing to walk with any student that calls for an escort.

    Greek Life

Being that I'm not in a sorority or fraternity, I'm not qualified to comment on this section.

    Clubs and Activities

UCCS has a few noteworthy clubs. The Asian Pacific-Islander Student Union is one of the largest on campus. Latino Student Union is a small club but is fairly social. The Pre-Health and Chemical Society clubs are large and host several interesting demonstrations. The Swing Dance Club is probably the most enjoyable club on campus. It hosts weekly social dances and offers dancing lessons for beginners and intermediate swing dancers.

Great for these types of students

Recluses, those with social anxiety, athletic students, chemistry majors, engineering majors, visual and performing arts majors, shy individuals, those seeking small class sizes

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The third floor of the library is a sanctuary for quiet or group study. There are plenty of rooms available. The Bluffs behind the campus are great for hiking. There are several secret eating spots for a perfect date. There is an annual sock assassination tournament on campus hosted by RHA. (Participate is a must since it is super fun.)

    Bang for the buck

UCCS can be a little pricy for what it offers. Fees tend to blindside you, but I assume this can be said for most universities. A word of warning, wait to buy your books. Many professors on campus hardly use them. Chemistry courses are quite expensive and come with a particular set of fees (including lab fees or homework programs).

    What to do for fun

As for entertaining activities on campus... there are only a few. Joining a club is easily the best way to an enjoyable college experience. Otherwise, if you enjoy Frisbee, individuals are often playing a few games on the turf. UCCS is close to Pikes Peak and the Incline for those that enjoy a good hike. Other than that, Colorado Springs is generally mellow.

    Food and Dining

The Lodge, the food service for on-campus students, has decent food. There are few options available for special-eating needs. For those allergic to gluten or for those who are vegetarian, it isn't a joke to say you'll likely starve. Salads are generally the option that is available for vegetarians. The other services on campus--Caf© 65 and Jazzman's--are somewhat expense but do provide decent eating options. The breakfast sandwiches at Jazzman's are excellent--highly recommended.

    Dorm Life

The campus is small. Because of this, it is not uncommon to run into someone familiar often. While this may be beneficial for those that struggle to make friends, it can also be detrimental. Few activities are planned throughout the year and are often unsuccessful. The best advice I can give is to be friendly and approach any strangers at the lodge.

    Academic Rigor

Academic rigor certainly depends on the major a student is selecting. The chemistry program at UCCS is quite excellent and it focuses heavily on academics. The Honors program is also strict.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to fight for parking--it is a terrible issue. The campus is currently undergoing construction (due to expansion)--it isn't a pretty sight. Take advantage of the learning centers on campus--there is free tutoring available on campus for a variety of sections.

    In three sentences

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) is overall a decent school. Parking is a hassle, the class sizes can be quite small, and teachers are generally amicable. While the university is more appealing for in-state students, UCCS has several features that accommodate out-of-state students.

    Campus Safety

There are on campus Colorado Springs Policemen that work for the city and school. They rome the streets and have a centered office.

    Greek Life

Not much. I think we have two maybe three sororities and again maybe only two or three fraternities.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a bunch of clubs and it is easy to join and participate.

Great for these types of students

Great for shy people and really not wanting to go to school with their high school friends even if they are on the same campus. You almost never see them.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Have not been around much but on top of the bluff is a set of pull up bars and stuff.

    Bang for the buck

Depends on your major. For example, I heard UCCS is the 8th best Mechanical Engineering school and for in state it is only about 9,000 a year I think.

    What to do for fun

I like to hang with my friends and watch Netflix and go to movies.

    Food and Dining

I heard it was terrible. But that is only from the Lodge everywhere else is great.

    Dorm Life

I have no idea. I live with my parents but heard it is only okay if you like terrible food and your roommates. Otherwise it is terrible.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor is not to bad. You do get homework once a week or more and you move through the course really fast. So make sure you are on top of everything.

    Tips for prospective students

Take a Freshman Seminar class, you learn a lot about getting through college. Remember to study a lot and do not try to go to every single party. Also make a friend or two in your major because you could get the same classes and then you have a study buddy.

    In three sentences

I love the whole atmosphere of this college. It is not to big and not to small and growing like a weed but in a good way. Also has great teachers and degree programs for the tuition.

    Campus Safety

Multiple emergency stations are placed around campus in case you ever feel like you are in danger. Also having 24/7 on campus police that are always on call make me feel a lot safer around campus.

    Greek Life

I am a part of Greek life, although it is not very big at UCCS, I absolutely love being in a sorority here. We are very involved in school and it gives me something to look forward too.

    Clubs and Activities

UCCS has tons of clubs available for students to join. They have a club fair where you can walk around and join any clubs that would interest you.

Great for these types of students

UCCS is not much of a party school if that is what you are looking for, but there is always something to do and never a dull moment with the people here. Great school for students who are more focused on their academics and enjoys doing outdoor activities.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

UCCS is very involved in basketball. On nights of basketball games the stands are always filled with students supporting our team.

    Bang for the buck

Out of state tuition is pretty expensive, but definitely is worth it to go here. They provide so many different help centers to guide you through school if you are having any troubles in classes or in general.

    What to do for fun

Going to the rec, the gym, is something a lot of students like to do at UCCS. Whether its to workout, play basketball, go swimming or just hangout. There are also a ton of hikes to go on close to campus, mainly outdoorsy activities.

    Food and Dining

The dining area for students living on campus is not that great. Most students complain daily about how the food tastes or the selection of food they provide, which is usually very limited.

    Dorm Life

Living in the dorms is an amazing experience and really helps you form close relationships with other incoming freshman. The dorms are very nice at UCCS and they provide multiple living options that fit you best.

    Academic Rigor

UCCS has free tutoring centers for just about every subject. So if a student is ever in need for help, there is easy access to tutors and teachers that are well educated in each subject.

    Tips for prospective students

I highly suggest living on campus the first year attending UCCS. Get involved around campus and it will make your experience here so much more interesting.

    In three sentences

UCCS is an absolutely beautiful campus, the view and buildings put me in awe every single day. Getting the classes I want has never been an issue and with such a small student to teacher ratio learning is made so much easier. I have enjoyed every class I have been enrolled in since I started attending UCCS.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety has always been a huge concern especially for parents. Rest assured UCCS provides a fairly safe and secure environment for students on campus. Police making rounds throughout the day (especially at night), there's posts for public safety where if you feel insecure you can call for a police escort, the suites require keys unique to the main door and then your own room's door. Your RAs also help keep the peace and make sure that everyone knows what to do in case of various emergencies, along with help create a friendly atmosphere on the floors. In case of severe weather, they send out emails and texts to notify the students of any class changes.

    Clubs and Activities

If there's a certain hobby you have you can probably find a club for it here, and if not you can easily make a new club for it. At the diverse clubs you can meet new people and who knows, you might even get into something new.

    What to do for fun

As I mentioned before there's so much to do on Campus, and so many events through out the year. At UCCS there's Clubs, Sororities, Fraternities, the Recreational Center (gym), indoor Swimming pool and spa, A large library, Art, Theatrical and Musical performances, Dances, Concerts, and so much more. Your RAs will take you on trips and do fun things like Trampoline world, or the movies with your floor-mates. The campus is located on the Bluff's, giving a wonderful scenic view of the Mountains and the campus is neat and visually stunning. If you're bored with nothing to do on campus, then you're not really experiencing UCCS to the fullest, because there's really tons of things to do.

    Food and Dining

Well the food at the dining facility, known as the Lodge, isn't like what Mom and Dad make but it's definitely got quite a selection. It's open buffet style with healthy options as well as a daily special, and they've got actual plates. The downside is you can't take any of these meals out unless you order to go well in advance. But where the Lodge fails Columbine Cafe, Jazzman's Cafe, Clyde's and Cafe'65 make up for it. Clyde's is a restaurant style eating facility much fancier than the lodge and equipped with a bar, typically for those days you want to eat out with friends or family. Cafe'65 is a grab and go food court style eating facility alternative to the other two. Columbine Cafe is like an extension of Jazzman's, both serving teas, coffees and snacks.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life at UCCS is definitely different. We live in suite style housing and only need to share a bathroom with your (max 3 other) roomies. Campus always has events going on to entertain and help you meet lots of other people. RAs on each floor help keep everyone in check, the rooms themselves are very secure environment (i.e. no one can really break into your rooms because of the double lock system). Another bonus is convenience, everything is a walk away such as classes, the free laundry mat, cafes, dinning facilities, and academic buildings (aside from university hall on east campus). I've had a blast staying here and will be back next year.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on your Major the academic rigor can change. As a Visual and Performing Arts major, the classes are fairly easy and informative but just enough to provide a challenge. If you're a Chemistry major though (like a few of my friends) it can be super challenging. It all depends on the effort you put in. A super easy class can become horribly difficult if you aren't attentive.

    Tips for prospective students

Freshmen are required to stay on Campus, which is actually more fun than it sounds. If you can bring a car then there's plenty of stores and stuff near-by and getting to class will be so much easier than taking the bus or walking. If you're a Performing artist, University Hall is a bit aways but it's a fun and peaceful walk or quick bus ride. Try to get to know classmates on day one, and neighbors too, because these people typically become life-long friends.

    In three sentences

UCCS is a ton of fun and great academically. There's always help if you need it and they help you transition from High School to College very nicely. There's tons of opportunities for different majors, the only downside is parking.

    Campus Safety

    Seems very safe.

    Greek Life

    Don't think so.

    Clubs and Activities

They listed a ton of clubs to join and even suggested that if you have 3 people, you can make your own.

Great for these types of students

Students that need to get a good education for less money. Students who like smaller crowds.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

They make a point of telling the history of part of the campus as a center for TB patients and how they would sunbathe nude (somehow to help with TB) on top of one of the old buildings.

    Bang for the buck

Based on the other colleges I applied to, this was the best price for the classes offered.

    What to do for fun

Hiking, biking, mountaineering will be great. They have a cool recreation center near the dorms and I plan on using the pool and weightroom there.

    Food and Dining

I did not have lunch on campus but I did walk through the cafe and the food looked fresh and there was a nice variety.

    Dorm Life

The photos of the dorm rooms in the brochures and online make them look a lot bigger. When we did our tour I wasn't very impressed with the dorm, but I don't expect a luxury suite.

    Academic Rigor

It appears that students here are more interested in learning than partying. From what I've read, the classes can be challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you submit your FAFSA as soon as possible.

    In three sentences

I think the campus is great. It sits at the base of Pikes Peak and the views are nice from every part of campus. Because it is the smallest of the University of Colorado group, I think the staff will be able to be more hands on.

    Campus Safety

Very safe campus that is patrolled constantly. The community surrounding campus is also very safe and pretty clean.

    Greek Life

I don't believe their is a Greek life at this point.

    Clubs and Activities

I've mentioned the possibilities above, but there are many intramural teams and of course never ending outdoor activities to take part in.

Great for these types of students

Outdoor savvy and interested students will love spending some free time on the weekends exploring the activities that Colorado Springs provides.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I'm not too aware of traditions, however, there are so many outdoor options to choose from. Many students choose to visit Manitou Springs and try out The Incline which is extremely hard but a fun and great experience.

    Bang for the buck

Compared to other schools, I believe UCCS provides a solid bang for the buck. It provides an all-around experiences for students to take full advantage of.

    What to do for fun

Well it's Colorado Springs and mountain ranges, trails, etc., are everywhere. Denver is less than an hour away and the night life is pretty solid. There's always something to do and their are numerous intramural teams. If you're bored, it's your fault.

    Food and Dining

The school is currently undergoing many changes but they have made great efforts in making sure students have healthier options than you typically would see. There is always room for improvement but UCCS is on the right track.

    Dorm Life

Make sure you look into housing before-hand very thoroughly. There is affordable housing but as a freshman you are now required to live on campus. However, it is important to plan ahead financially for the following years.

    Academic Rigor

The school is growing quickly and the academics are what have gotten the school to this point. The athletic department time and time again produces quality student athletes.

    Tips for prospective students

Prepare yourself financially well before college has even started or left high school. It is a rigorous and often times not so exciting, but sit down with your parents or guardians and decide what is the best set of choices to make through your time at college. I am a financially literacy assistant in the UCCS financial aid department and we are working hard to help UCCS students make quality financial decisions so school doesn't leave a whole in the student's life.

    In three sentences

UCCS is a wonderful up and coming Division II institution. The academics are highly qualified and the faculty put the students first. I am truly thankful to be attending this University as it is the fasting growing in Colorado.

    Bang for the buck

It's a typical education at a typical price. It was just difficult several years ago to even get in because of all the communication issues.

    Tips for prospective students

Be proactive. The office staff tends to lose things, or give you inaccurate statements. I once was told I had a room on campus, and when I showed up to move in, they said Whoops. You're actually on a whitelist. That, was a big problem. If you can look past things like that, this school has some great teachers for you. Just remember to be proactive, and don't stop asking until you get the answer you need.

    In three sentences

The school has great teachers, but when I attended several years ago, the logistics of the school struggled. TIme after time my applications were lost, only to surface weeks later, or I was given misleading information purely on accident. However, if you can manage the confusion of trying to get there, the teachers and students are great.
