This school does not truly value academics. For instance, math is a requirement, but there is an easy way around it. Students can take intro to logic, a very easy class, instead. Too much of the school's money goes to athletics, and it shows with their current budget crunch and the condition of the older parts of the campus.

Don't come here unless you have lots of money or guaranteed housing, and not by student housing services. They're pretty good at evicting people a month into the semester, with 3 days notice, and 2 days to recognize that payments have been made.

Being a resident of Hawaii, I can say we are far behind in education which is why professors and advisors push us even harder because they want us to make names for ourselves and be able to succeed in places other than hawaii, they don't want us to be good according to hawaii standards they want us to be excellent everywhere.

» Read MoreI am currently taking online courses with University of Hawaii. I enjoy taking the online courses because it gives me time to work while I am working toward my degree. The classes are online, but we meet about once a month on a Skype like program, which makes it easier to talk to and get to know the professor.
» Read MoreThe professors interact with there students. They understand that in big lectures it is hard to grasp what is being taught. They are easy to get in contact with and they will meet with you during their office hours if you have any questions. Professors will also inform students of tutoring opportunities if they are struggling with the work for that class. The atmosphere on campus is very laid back and relaxing and there is a lot of aloha spirit.
