Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for: -Students wanting the college experience for not that much money. -Students looking for a small college for more one-on-one teaching.
Tips for prospective students You should: -Apply for financial aid and admission early. -Take a tour of the school. -Talk to the professors. -Check for your major.
Bang for the buck The University of Houston-Victoria is not at all expensive as other universities. You get the college experience you're searching for and you don't break the bank!
Am enjoying being here I am enjoying being here because of the simple fact that I am getting the college experience I've always wanted. I wanted to leave home, not because I hated home, but because I wanted to see what it was all about. And they have brand-new dorms!
Am learning a lot The professors here are very nice and helpful to all their students. They try to work with the students as much as possible to get them on the right track and to succeed in class.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who like a smaller school environment with a smaller student to teacher ratio.
Bang for the buck They have several scholarship programs and is basically the least expensive public university in Texas.
Will enjoy being here Everyone was very welcoming on my campus visit. The tour was very helpful and sealed the deal with my wanting to attend there. Jaguar Hall is a converted hotel and has a lot of services & activities.
Will learn a lot They have several majors in my interest area. Like the idea that there is more face-to-face interaction with the professors.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck For the tuition cost, UHV is a great choice.
Academic Rigor Depending on the professor, classes can be somewhat daunting or rather easy. Because I take online classes, there really isn't a choice in which professor I get for a certain class.
Tips for prospective students Start your financial aid process early. If you wait too long, it can go past the payment deadline date and then you will have to take out a loan to pay for your classes until the financial aid comes through.
In three sentences As with any university, you have good professors and those who are less than stellar. My classes are all online and sometimes the selection of online classes is limited. However, UHV is generally a really good school.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There is a mall, two bowling alleys, mini putt-putt, a movie theatre, boot fest, lots of bars/clubs for those of age, and the beach is only about 45 minutes away.
Food and Dining The cafateria food at the dorm was always good! But if It wasn't there is a DQ, Mcdonalds, Whataburger, Sonic, and Wendy's in a 5 mile radius. Also, with your jaguar card you get discounts at most of these places.
Dorm Life Dorm life was okay, there's always something to do. They have poppin' Mondays, movie nights' etc. They also bbq at the dorms every friday and are in the process of making a pool. The computer labs are very convenient and are open 24 hours. The dorm is really secure and the security will even escort you to the dorm! The only bad thing is that the rooms don't have kitchens or living rooms.
Academic Rigor The professors are very helpful, most of them do have really hard assigments, but they do so to really see who is trying in class which has helped me alot. The tutoring is amazing and the tutors really kmow what they're talking about.
Tips for prospective students Try to get your financial aid in ASAP because they award by who turns it in earliest. Also, if you are leasing a dorm, don't wait to the last minute.
In three sentences UHV is a great college pretty much for anyone because it is low cost, has flexible schedules, and professors who will do anything to help you. The dorms were okay, but this past year they really improved and their cafeteria has really great food. Lastly, UHV is also a smaller school so the financial aid office is easier to reach, there's more one-on-one time with professors and they're alot of opportunities to start your own club or organization.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is always there and quick to help if needed. Might I add quite friendly too.
Clubs and Activities Kappa Delta Pi is an amazing honor society and does great things for the community. I recommend joining as soon as you can, if your grades allow you to.
What to do for fun Join clubs to help the community, make great friends and inspire others.
Food and Dining The campus I attend does not have a dining hall however, it is supplied with vending machines and on occasion the staff supplies food for the students.
Dorm Life Does not apply to me.
Academic Rigor University of Houston-Victoria, I found, is well-equipped to serve the students and help them in the venture to earn a degree. There are computer labs, vending machines, quite places to study and the school is always clean.
Tips for prospective students Be on time if not early to your classes. Come prepared with supplies and study hard.
In three sentences University of Houston-Victoria is an amazing college. The professors are very knowledgeable in their subject and are always quick to help the students. Security is always on the grounds and the staff are personable.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is around the campus during learning hours and at the dorms 24/7. They're really nice and friendly.
Greek Life No greek life.
Great for these types of students Students that enjoy learning but are not into attending a large university.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Jaguar Journey is the required freshmen orientation. Its alot of fun and not only does it help familiarize you with the campus but it also helps you meet new people. Pyramid Row is where most of the activities take on place on campus. Jag Cage where all the soccer games are held.
What to do for fun Victoria is a small city so there isnt much to do. But that all depends on you and your friends. Most students go to the night clubs, the mall, the movies or bowling alley. Port Lavaca is about 30 minutes away so you can always take a trip to the beach.
Food and Dining The food is good occasionally, but very convenient because the cafeteria is located in the dorms.
Dorm Life The RAs are cool, and they try to give you all kinds of activities to do so that they can minimize boredom or stress about school. The dorms are also a great place to study and build amazing friendships with others.
Academic Rigor Its not to hard to where you will constantly struggle but you have to be willing to do the work or you will fall behind.
Tips for prospective students Don't turn away from help. The school is just small enough to where of your teachers know who you are, they are willing to help if you just ask for it.
In three sentences The education here is great! The teachers and staff really work hard to make sure that you are successful. They make learning and attending the school fun.
