    The University of Idaho has something to offer every type of student that walks through it's doors. Ranging from outdoor activities, comfortable study rooms, greek-life orientated living, intermural sports clubs, and those favoring the arts.

    The University of Idaho is a great school to expand your knowledge and social skills. One of the best whether you are straight out of high school or transferring from another college. There is no other school like it in the state of Idaho
    Bang for the buck

    While tuition without financial aid can be expensive, the University of Idaho offers dozens of scholarships for those who meet the requirements so that the cost of going to school becomes very reasonable and affordable.
    Am enjoying being here

    Apart from the cold winters, the campus is radiant with life year round while the scenery different and unusual on every part of campus. There is never a dull moment with nothing to do at the University of Idaho.
    Am learning a lot

    The professors are approachable and friendly, and with small class sizes it isn't hard to get in touch with the teacher for help. Also, with campus wide WiFi internet and the library combined, there is easy access to whatever course data you will need

    The University of Idaho is great for the type of student who prefers a smaller - but not too small - campus, and the student who enjoys smaller classes with fewer students will benefit from a more, for lack of a better term, intimate learning environment.
    Tips for prospective students

    One word of advice I can give for incoming Vandals is to not underestimate core classes. I understand that they may be boring, as they rarely help with one's major, but they are required to graduate, so it is important to work hard in those courses.

    The University of Idaho is a very affordable school. With tuition at only $5000 per year, it is fairly accessible for students of any economic standing.
    Am enjoying being here

    Moscow is a great city for me. It is just the right size. Plus, if I ever get homesick, it is only an hour and a half from my hometown. In terms of the campus, it is just the right size for me. One can traverse the entire campus, from one end to the other, in about ten minutes, so I rarely found myself pressed for time in between classes. The people have been very friendly, and it is, overall, a very accepting, diverse environment.
    Am learning a lot

    I am learning a good deal of information, but as I was a freshman in the '08/'09 school year, I was in the process of taking core requirement classes, so I did not get the chance to take more than one or two classes that pertained to my major, which is English. However, I did take some courses that were very interesting, and I learned lots of new information in these courses.

    Great for these types of students

    This school is perfect for students going for theatre-the department is excellent! It's great for any art degree, even music and architecture. There's a law school here. There are a lot of scientific degrees available. It's also perfect for students looking to save some money, and students who prefer a small-town atmosphere, since it's in a small town.
    Tips for prospective students

    Make sure to apply for scholarships awarded from the University as a freshman, because after that, the ones from the University just get awarded automatically. Make sure to take a variety of classes, so you know for sure what you want your major to be. Also, bring a mini-refrigerator to your dorm room! They're so nifty-especially when you get tired of food from the campus cafeteria, 'Bob's Place'.

    The University of Idaho offers so many scholarships and financial aid options. Students just have to keep their eyes and ears open! Plus, the tuition is less than any other school I looked at.

    The people at this school are amazing, and the campus is beautiful! My teachers that I've had so far have been awesome, the classes have been fun, and I've made some life-long friends. It does get pretty cold sometimes, but other than that this school is fantastic!
    Am learning a lot

    I am learning so much at this school! I love being at a university over a trade school, because the education I'm recieving is more rounded. I get to learn a little about everything, and I love that variety. I've taken classes from history of rock & roll to astronomy to acting. I'm a theatre major, and although the department is small, it's well worth it. I am learning a little bit about everything in the theatre area, and I love it all!

    Students that are hard working, dedicated, and want to succeed should definitely go to the University of Idaho.
    Tips for prospective students

    Music students need to make sure that they practice every day from the get go. Not only do they need to be on top of their performance pieces, but if they hope to be successful I would suggest that they keep up on their scales as well. Everyone needs to make sure that even if the class doesn't take attendance, you go to class every day. If you even miss one day, it could mean that you miss a very important topic. Besides, perfect attendance is smiled upon and could get you some bonus participation points. Studying as frequently as possible is also a great idea.

    I feel like I am learning something new every day that I go to class, and that is a good feeling. I don't feel as if any of the dollars that I am spending are being wasted.

    Besides the extremely cold winters, I really enjoy being at the University of Idaho. I like the people that I am around, I feel like the teachers really enjoy teaching, and I like the environment of Moscow, Idaho.
    Am learning a lot

    Being a music major, I have been thrown right into the classes that I need to be a successful music teacher. I am about to start my fourth semester at the University of Idaho, and I feel like I have already learned quite a bit.

    The University of Idaho is great for the students that want the best education they can get in Idaho. This school is ranked #1 college in Idaho and it earns that ranking. Everything is easy to learn and if it's not, it's easy to find the help you want.
    Tips for prospective students

    Start searching for the funding you'll want to have for college now. Don't wait until you're digging for change in the couch to pay for a last minute fee. When you get an early start it'll save you from future stress when it comes time to pay for tuition and books.

    Tuition and books can really cut into your budget but with all the opportunities of earning grants and scholarships it's really not that bad. If you take the time to fill out applications for scholarships you'll appreciate all that time you spent on them in the end when they start paying you to go to school. The money put into your schooling now will be worth every cent in your future.

    I love being here most of the time. However, Moscow is a small town so it can get boring some days but overall a college town is nice to live in. The campus has a busy lifestyle but it's always fun. I love being able to get to and from classes (no matter the distance) within 5-10 minutes. I also love that there are coffee shops set up all over campus. Being able to get anywhere in such little time is ideal for those days when you forget to set your alarm or stayed out too late the night before.
    Am learning a lot

    The professors teach only what they know. For instance even when the teacher is absent from class and a replacement is there to take their place, that substitute is also a teacher of the subject they are covering for. I remember in high school when a substitute was whoever the school could find to teach whether or not they majored in the subject. The teachers are very understanding and are always open to work with each student, even when it's a class of 400. A lot of teachers are open to communicating when you miss a class and that makes it a little bit easier when it comes to emergencies.

    University of Idaho is great for a variety of students. There are many engineering options here, so if you are interested in math and science then Idaho is a great option for you. There are a lot of great things for those who think more creatively as well, specifically in the College of Art and Architecture at U of I. The list of majors is extensive, and covers such a wide range of interests that I think that University of Idaho caters to almost any type of student.
    Tips for prospective students

    I would suggest going to school with a positive, motivated attitude. Don't let the fact that it is college intimidate you. It will take work, and you won't necessarily be able to coast your way through, like some people have done in high school. As long as you apply yourself, do your work, and keep up with studying and the material you will do great!
    Bang for the buck

    The tuition is not bad for what you get at this university. I am on a WUE scholarship, which helps for out of state people like me. It also very much depends on what your major is. Tuition will stay the same, but professional fees vary depending on your major. Living on campus is the biggest expense for me. Each year I pay a little over $7000 to live in a double room and to have a meal plan. However, for that money, you get to make a lot of new friends, become a part of your hall, which in a way is like your own little community, and are guaranteed a variety of meals every day.

    I do enjoy attending classes and meeting new people here at the university. There are plenty of things to do on and off campus, and many programs that you can get involved in. Living on campus for your first year of college is required, but it's fun and a great way to meet new people. It depends on what kinds of things you enjoy doing in your free time. There are sports teams here at U of I that you can join for your hall in the dorms. There are a lot of outdoor activities that are fun, such as ultimate Frisbee on the Tower Lawn. There are parties, there are gatherings, there are events and competitions. There is a little something for everyone.
    Am learning a lot

    I do learn a lot in each class that I take. No class is a waste of time as long as you apply yourself and take the initiative to learn the material. There are a variety of classes to take inside and outside of every major, so picking classes that are in your area of interest is relatively easy.

    The University of Idaho is great for any type of student. There is a wide variety of students here and all seem very accepting towards other students of different backgrounds and ethnicities. I would recommend the University of Idaho to any high school graduate that I meet.

    Be ready for the workload. I treated my first semester of college like I was still in high school and it showed. Since then, I have realized what it takes to succeed in college and it is reachable if you try. Don't underestimate college, but don't let it intimidate you either.

    For the amount of money that I am spending in order to go to the University of Idaho, I am learning far more than what I paid for. I feel like going to this college is a great investment and if I had the chance, I would choose this college again in a heartbeat.

    Everyone here is really friendly and easy to be around. The classroom atmosphere is very low stress even if the class is very intellectually demanding. The housing situation is very well organized and there are plenty of people available in case you have a question that needs answered. There are fun activities every week or so that are sponsored by the dorms and everyone is invited. Overall, I am really enjoying my college experience.
    Am learning a lot

    I learn an incredible amount in each class and as long as you are willing to pay attention and do the work, you will too. The classes are really interesting and they flow together really well. The teachers genuinely care about your grades and you as a person and they are all willing to help anyone that asks.

    People who aren't afraid to be themselves will do wonderfully here. Even followers will find a group of people they like. There is amazing variety at this school.
    Tips for prospective students

    PLEASE take classes in your major field your first year, even if it means you don't get all university basics done. It's better to know right out of the gate whether it's the major you still want to pursue. Be ready to walk. It's really the only way to see the campus, and it's small enough where it's not a big deal. It's also very dry here. I come from a very humid climate, and it was a bit of a shock.

    University of Idaho is wonderful with giving people scholarships. They try to make it easy for you to come to school here. Out-of-state tuition is always an absurd price, but this university made it well worth my while to go to school here. I thank them for taking the financial burden off my parents by giving out scholarships I don't even have to apply for! They automatically consider you for any scholarship whose requirements you meet.

    I love it here! I found a really great Christian group (Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship, if you are interested), who are amazingly welcoming. I didn't know a single person when I came to this school, but most people are friendly and helpful. It's also so beautiful in Moscow, and the school and town grew up together - so the bulk of the town is close and accessible.
    Am learning a lot

    I took college classes in high school, so I was able to dabble in my chosen field my first year of school, which was really great. I have a very specific major (Geography with GIS certificate), and the teachers here are very knowledgable and helpful. There is an wonderful variety of classes here; everyone should be able to find something they enjoy. University of Idaho also gets a lot of points from me because their Geography Department is impressive enough for me to come all the way from TX for this education!

    Really UI is good for any type of student. most classes are fairly small which is nice. The only draw back of the university is that there isn't much to do around it. but if you are the kind of person that is able to find fun anywhere they go then you wont have a problem.

    If you don't know anyone who is going to UI then join some clubs and make friends quick. if you don't you wont be doing much over the weekends. And because Pullman Washington it just a few miles away and they have a Wal-mart, a big movie theater, and a lot of fun stuff to do bringing a car would be nice (though parking might be a problem).

    for me it was a good deal because i joined the Army ROTC program. and room/board isn't really that expensive. but i still think it could be cheaper. also if you are tight on cash the apartments in Moscow are cheaper to live in than the dorms if you split rent with a friend.

    Moscow Idaho is a small city. I'm from outside of Seattle so it was a little bit of a shock to discover that there really isn't much to do around town. there is a few clubs were you could dance and there is a hookah bar. but for me there isn't much to do. i really don't like the amount of country music that is played here (I am a metal fan). So if you do come to Moscow joining some clubs would be a good idea.

    All of my classes are very interesting. I'm learning a lot. there are a lot of interesting core discovery classes like sports in American society. war in the virtual world, and some world religion classes. if you like learning about religions then go with The Sacred Journey it was the best class i have had so far.

    If you like the look of an Ivy Leauge campus but don't want to pay an arm and a leg U of I Moscow is a wonderful place. The recreational availability of the rec center (which sports a rockwall, tons of excersize equiptment and tons of extra classes like yoga and zumba you can sign up for) as well as both the old and new arboretums is great. The new arboretum is absolutely gorgeous, and the old arboretum is great if you like the feel of a typical woodsy stroll. The library is a great place to study, which includes a 24 hour section called 'the fishbowl' where students can study well into the night. The town is small and incredibly friendly, its a great place to be!
    Tips for prospective students

    I would recommend the University of Idaho in Moscow to anyone who likes being able to walk to virtually anywhere of consequence in town with little trouble at all. The campus is well laid out and from one end to the other its a ten minute walk at the maximum. If you don't want to walk all the way to WinCo, there's a bus that goes into town every day that's easy to use. I would recommend talking to your advisors about the classes you wish to take to complete your major, but most of all take advantage of the degree audit option on VandalWeb so you know whats going on as well!

    With the WUE program the tuition is wonderfully manageable for an out of state student- only 150% of in state tuition. I have learned to avoid the bookstore if only because you save by buying books online, but they are very friendly and helpful if you do need to go to them for your texts. The ease of upward advancement and being placed in the right level has been pleasing. After taking the AP/IB classes that I did in high school, I have been well prepared for the workload and expectations of the professors here. I was able to get credit for those classes and jumped right in to a 200 level class for English based on my SAT scores. Also, because of the credits I received for my upper level classes in high school, I had already achieved the status of sophomore by the end of my first semester of college. That being said, I am well on my way to graduating early, and saving a great deal of money in my college experience overall.
    Am enjoying being here

    The student body is very diverse and allows for many different personalities to cohabitate nicely within the campus community. I am living in one of the sororities on campus and would highly recommend the Greek system to any incoming freshmen considering the U of I. The Greek community specifically gives a instant support network and the availability of a large network of friends. That being said, there is also the awesome opportunity to find those few people that you will become very close to over the course of your college career in the house.
    Am learning a lot

    So far I have been impressed with the range of subject matter for classes available to take here. Those classes that I have taken (apart from my least favorite subject of math- it was required) I have enjoyed and have gained much from. The English department is wonderful and the Spanish is as well. I absolutely love my Spanish professor and have gained a greater understanding of the language from her and am also planning on going on a year abroad in Ecuador thanks to her.

    U of I is wonderful for students who have financial need like me. I am paying for my college all by myself. This university is great for students who can balance their academic and social lives. In other words it's good for people who can have fun but also buckle down and work hard when they need to.
    Tips for prospective students

    Apply for as many scholarships as possible. Get involved in student activities! It will make you happier than sitting in your dorm room all alone on a Saturday evening. Don't do drugs and drink while you're here because you will just fail out and all that money that you spent on an education that you get nothing out of because you were stupid will not come back. Be smart, do your work, and have fun in moderation.

    So far I have gotten exactly what I am paying for, a wonderful education. My education here is worth way more than any material possession could ever measure up to.

    The University of Idaho is a fun academic environment. The teachers make classes interesting by teaching in different ways from high school. The teachers do not sit there and lecture you for hours. Instead they involve you in your learning process by asking you questions and making you actually think about what you are learning. Most of the students are young which creates a fun energetic environment. There are many campus activities to get involved in. Personally I am on the color guard in the band which is a lot of fun, hard work, and dedication. Being on a team or just in the band has given me a sense of being in a family here at college. Everywhere you look there will always be someone you know. All of the students and professors at U of I are very open and friendly. If you have an issue in a class your professor encourages you to talk to them one on one about it unlike other much larger universities where professors do not have time to have one on one communications with their students. Overall it is a wonderful university with many opportunities to be involved in campus life and so many wonderful people to meet.

    As the saying goes you learn something new everyday however when I'm here I feel as if I'm learning something new every second. I'm not only learning academically I'm also learning about myself. I'm learning who I am while changing and growing even more as a person.

    Definitely make a visit and check out the whole campus and amenities. Make sure you're prepared for the different seasons of weather because it can get unpredictable sometimes.

    All of the fees charged for tuition, room & board, meal plan, etc. seem to be reasonable prices and it's what one makes out of their classes that can make the classes even more rewarding.

    It's a great area with city-like activities to do, but a nice hometown feeling. The campus is attractive and is great for walking, as long as it's not raining or snowing a lot.
    Am learning a lot

    The professors in most of my classes have been very liberal with their teaching, meaning they allowed the students to somewhat take over the discussion and I've learned a lot through that experience. Most of the textbooks are easy to read and shares great knowledge in a more approachable way for students.

    Although it may cost a lot for out-of-state it is worth it completely. The university is also good about giving out scholarships and loans to make sure that everyone accepted can pay for it.

    I'm and out-of-state student so I am excited to be away from home, but I am also excited to meet so many types of people and have fun while learning. Everyone is super nice, and wants to make new friends too, so say hi to everyone and have a good time.

    Even when I was there for just the orientation I learned a lot from faculty members, and other student. Learning is important, and they have a variety of classes to decide from so you can always find something that interests you.

    University of Idaho is great for any student interested in the outdoors, music, engineering, law, biology, the arts, and general education. This school has a wide range of programs with enough classes and activities to interest any prospective student.
    Tips for prospective students

    It snows in Moscow, so be sure to get a hard soled winter boot, a big coat, and an umbrella in case of rain. The weather changes frequently, so always be prepared. Also, cars aren't required here, as everything is within walking or bike riding distance.

    The financial aid at this school is absolutely incredible. They have work study programs for students, as well as plenty of opportunities for part time jobs if you are so motivated. The cost may seem high, but the education and opportunities you have here are absolutely worth it.

    Moscow is like New York in that it never sleeps. There is always something to do in this cozy little town, and there's even more going on on campus. There are clubs and organizations for any interest you may have, and tons of shops and restaurants in the town for your enjoyment.

    University of Idaho offers a plethora of classes for its students. They offer the usual curriculum (core classes like math, English, sciences, etc), while offering more unique courses like fencing, fly fishing, rock climbing, and even scuba.

    Arts, Music, Law, Dance, Chemistry, Business, and these are just the ones I know of!
    Tips for prospective students

    Eat healthy and exercise. When you live without your family cooking for you and making sure you are eating balanced meals for 4 or 5 years, you can really start to feel it in your body by your sophomore year. Learn how to cook balanced meals cheaply. They have an amazing recreation center; use it.

    Scholarships are awarded to the students as the are registered. It is extremely hassle free, you look at your account and there is suddenly scholarships waiting for you. There are obviously still going to be others you can pursue and compete for as well.

    The University of Idaho has a very relaxed environment. All of my professors have been very nice and approachable. They care about your well being and want to see you succeed.
    Am learning a lot

    At the University of Idaho, many students find themselves learning about scuba diving, archery, rock climbing, film music, the history of Rock&Roll, and so much more. The university has many exploration courses to get you out of your rut.

    Tips for prospective students

    For high school Seniors, if possible make a trip up to Moscow and attend a Vandal Friday. It was a great experience and I learned a lot about the school. This is when I knew for sure this is were I wanted to attend college.

    I love the campus and the town, everything is so close together. The campus is beautiful throughout all seasons. The Greek life here is also such a great experience that I will remember for a life the time.

    The classes are very interesting and the Professor really are here to help the students, the work load it what I expected from college and I feel the quality of the education is high.

    Campus Safety

    i never feel unsafe here at u of i. i have walked all over campus at all hours of the night, and i have never felt uncomfortable. however, they could light certain places a little better.
    Greek Life

    greek life was one of the main reasons i came to u of i. we have a great group of students, with lots of opportunities to do so many things. as a freshman i came into the house and was elected as director of finance. there are many opportunities and connections to help you with your future and build a resume. we always have some sort of function going on, and you make friends very fast.
    Clubs and Activities

    there are clubs for just about anything you can think of, and you can even start your own. there is always something going on, on campus.
    Great for these types of students

    the university of idaho really does have something for everyone, unless you prefer to live in the big city.
    Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    our homecoming week is a blast. there are so many events going on. we have a parade, and decorate all of campus. we also have a huge bonfire and fireworks show the night before the big game.

    the mall always has great sales going on, and there are a variety of great (cheap) places for college students to eat. i really like smokey mountain pizzeria and la casa lopez.
    What to do for fun

    being a part of greek life is a great way to have fun and get involved on campus and around moscow.

    Humans vs Zombies each semester is so much fun, and flash mobs are seen often on campus! We also have an on-campus butcher for those meat-eaters, and a barn full of cows with window stomachs so you can see what's going on as they digest their food!

    Especially for in-state students, it's a great price for a good education!
    What to do for fun

    Moscow on it's own doesn't have a lot to do. However, the rec center provides a great place to work out, and there are lots of on-campus activities hosted almost every weekend. There's also Pullman nearby. There is quite a bit for those who like to go outside, however! Moscow mountain is nearby, and there are several ski resorts and lakes also in the area.
    Food and Dining

    Bob's is... well. Bob's. There's not much to be said for it. It's not excellent, but it's not terrible. However, there are other great places to eat on campus, and some awesome places in the downtown Moscow area that aren't very expensive!
    Dorm Life

    I love living in the dorms! The people are so awesome, and it's great hearing hey! as you're studying because you left your door open. The dorms really form a great community. One tip though: try to stay in a dorm with people your age. It makes for a much better experience.
    Academic Rigor

    As a student coming from a college preparatory school, the academics are about average. I know some people who are struggling and others who are doing great. It really depends on what field you're looking into and the professor. Some professors tend to have more exam-based courses,which makes it tough for those who don't test well. Ask around to find out which professors are good and which are not -- although keep in mind that while the professor may be one person's favorite, another may hate them! Keep an open mind and ask a few people.
    Tips for prospective students

    Stay on campus the first year. It's a great opportunity to get out of your parent's house, and it makes making friends so much easier. Also, don't be afraid to put yourself out there, it's a great time to try new things!

    With a team of campus police officers working alongside campus security, the campus itself is very safe. At student orientation they give a safety meeting to tell students of ways to stay safe on campus as well as alert them to the dangers hiding in the shadows of any college campus. A safe walk is also offered so no student is forced to walk alone at any hour. I think that this campus is very safe for the number of students that inhabit it.
    Clubs and Activities

    There are over a hundred clubs offered for students at the U of I. Its not just sports programs, but also athletic clubs, study groups and groups supporting anything. All clubs are looking for new members and have regular meetings. I am a member of several clubs and think that having the ability to meet other students with common interests lessens the home sickness and makes you feel more welcome.

    The rates for tuition and housing are quite fair, and they give you a lot of choices after you pay your fees. Meal plans can be spendy but they offer flex dollars that can be used anywhere on campus which allow you to choose where you eat.
    What to do for fun

    There are plenty of activities available for students on the U of I campus. The campus has its own movie theater in the Student Union building that often has free movie showings on the weekends. There are plenty of sporting events to attend, Go Vandals! Campus wide events include homecoming and Humans vs. Zombies for all students. Or you can spend a day at the student recreation center pumping iron. There is never a dull moment on campus.
    Food and Dining

    Campus dining has many options including the all you can eat cafeteria. Students buy mealplans or just pay with cash, but there is dining options all over campus, including a coffee shop and a Denny's. The cafeteria is right in the middle of the dorms so it is easy access to students living on campus. Everywhere has good food and is relatively worth the money you pay.

    There are several dorm buildings on campus at the University of Idaho, from residence halls to single dorm rooms. The dorms are right in the middle of campus, providing easy walking distance to classes within ten minutes. There are plenty of choices, from apartment style rooms to single rooms.     Many of the students I've spoken with came from small towns, and it's really a great school if you're from a rural area because the setting is familiar and the classes are usually small. However, the school will still broaden your horizons because it is fairly diverse and you can sometimes overhear conversations in four different languages simply while walking to the TLC building. From what I've heard, UOI has a great engineering program, and I believe they also have good languages courses. You can even take language courses from WSU while going to UOI,.
    Tips for prospective students

    In Idaho, you're required to have health insurance in order to be an university student. You can buy a health insurance policy called SHIP from the university, but if you shop around, you can probably find a cheaper solution. Also, don't make my mistake with textbooks. If you're going to sell them back to the bookstore, wait until the official buyback week email goes out. You'll be able to sell them back for much more that week.

    I'm no expert when it comes to the comparative financial details of colleges, but UOI is the most affordable college I applied to, yet it has many more programs and opportunities than a few of the colleges I looked at.
    Am enjoying being here

    While Moscow isn't the prettiest town, the campus of UOI is a beautiful and exciting place to be. There's always some free event for students to attend: a movie at the Borah Theater, a football game in the Kibbie Dome, a play put on by the theater department, and much more. There is an air of openness and friendliness on campus. It still has the typical campus problems of students drinking and caroling in the parking lot at one in the morning., but there is a great deal of wonderful randomness, such as discovering a pine tree wearing underwear in the elevator or a group of students playing Jedi Quidditch on the Tower lawn. The only thing I miss on campus is sleep.
    Am learning a lot

    In some scholastic settings, if you read ahead in your textbook, you'll have all the information you're going to get from the class. This is not true for University of Idaho. The teachers are enthusiastic and experienced in the fields they teach and they emphasize learning by doing. Every professor I've met has been very approachable and glad to help with scholastic problems.

    bob's seems great at first but after 2 weeks its the same food. many people start out with as many meals you can get in a meal plan and end up moving down to the least. the 6th street market is a good place to go where you are given money to spend there and they are a mini grocery store.

    the dorms themselves are not good but the people you meet are usually friendly and helps you get into clubs and intramural. there will always be that one room mate you don't get a long with but you don't have to be with them for to long so hang in there.

    food and dining is pretty good! the cafeteria employment and volunteers makes a strong effort in keeping it clean, and organized. they are very big on recycling. they usually serve a plethora of different kinds of food; mexican, chinese, italian, salads, etc.

    i personally never have lived in a dorm, but my wife has, and i often visited her there when we were engaged. she really enjoyed her experience there at the llc's, wherein she made life-time friends. i was really impressed with how friendly everyone is in dorm life.

    There are actually security officers that walk around campus and are on call should there be any sort of dangerous situation. I do feel very safe here because I don't feel like the town has any true violent tendencies.

    There are so many meal choices both on and off campus you will never be bored. Everything is withing walking distance and priced for college students. Choices range from Thai to Japanese, from the best burgers to the highest quality of organics. And with kitchens accessible to students in the dorms, you can always choose something different and learn to cook on you own or have a fun dinner with friends.

    I was a student in a hasty search for the right college for me. I used websites that matched me with a variety of colleges, and though some of them seemed great, when I actually visited them, I was no longer so excited. Some of my biggest tips for prospective students would be to always go and visit the campuses of schools you are interested in, to ask questions when you get there, and to make your life easier wherever it is that you decide to go, apply for grants and scholarships wherever you can. This way you will have few limitations as to where you can go and you will truly find the place you feel as a second home.

    security is a big deal here! security guards make rounds around the residence halls once a night, and they have a 24 hour number you can call for most anything, even if you just want someone to walk you home. most places are well lit, and accessible. not many sketchy back alleys.

    i'm a bit of an academic, so i don't get out a lot. however, there is certainly a lot to do here. jamms, across the street, is a must. it's frozen yogurt and it's absolutly delicious. there's also saturday farmers markets and a small mall down the road. if you happen to be feeling really adventurous there are also monthly drag shows about half a mile away.

    the cafeteria is okay, but eventually it gets really mundane. students living on campus are required to buy a meal plan. choose a plan with less cafeteria meals and more flex dollars! eating reheated cafeteria food gets old.

    couldn't have asked for more in my first year! i lived in the tower which is an entirely freshman residence hall. i had a blast, and made a ton of friens. definatly worth it.

    obviously some programs will be better than others. i can't speak for all the classes, but the ones i've taken for my major so far have been very rigorous and thought provoking (i'm a biology major). i also know we have pretty strong theatre, and engineering departments.

    have an open line of communication with your advisor. and if you don't like him/her, you can switch. also, make sure you know the core requirements for graduation and plan accordingly. (some classes are only avalible in the fall, some only in the spring.)

    bob's diner is the main place that people eat, since it's included in your meal plan. you also get a certain amount of flex dollars with your meal plan, which are on your student card and can only be used in certain places on campus. there is also a denny's, an einstein's bros bagels, and another cafeteria in the commons.

    living in dorms is required for freshman so if that isn't what you want, i don't recommend ui. the housing department can be hard to deal with so make sure you know for sure what building you want to live in when you make your housing deposit.

    Campus police are respectable and nice; always looking out for the safety of the kids. The police arrive on the scene in great time if it is necessary for them to come, and there is a good relationship between the students and officers that keep us all safer.

    Amazing, the best Greek system in Idaho, and the Greeks are the biggest contributors to our communities. We stress the importance of future development and community service to develop fine men and women for the world.

    Good scholarship and grant opportunities. For out of state students see if you qualify for the WUE- Western Undergraduate Exchange there are several states that are grouped within this and offer out of state students a lower tuiton rate (apporx. $1000 more then in-state students pay, but $5000-10000 less then regular out of state students)
    What to do for fun

    Their are inturmural sports, weekend events that the community of moscow puts on, the SUB (on campus) offers weekend movies for $2/person, local shopping, bike trails, and skiing mountains are only 90 minutes away. Spokane is about an hour away, and Pullman (WSU campus) is only 8 miles away.
    Food and Dining

    The campus has one dining hall and then the commons has a food court - set up like a mall would, with multiple food offering. The main dining hall has 6-8 types of food choices (pizza, italian, hamburgers, noodles, deli, soups, etc.) they are open throughout the day and also offer a late night food session for those who have late classes or are up studying and need a quick break. the food is good ...but sometimes if you dont change it up with what you eat it will get tiresome.
    Dorm Life

    I lived in the tower on campus and loved it... i got to meet lots of new people and built friendships. You live on a floor with either all girls/guys ... they are single sex floors with a shared community bathroom on each floor.... the floors normally alternate girl/boy. The Wallace Complex has either singles sex floors or co-ed floors (you get to choose) you share a room with one person and then have a shared bathroom with another 2 people. The LLC complex is set up like apartment living- you have 2-4 roommates (most have their own room) and a shared small kitchen, living, and bathroom... then downstairs on the ground floor is a large living room setting and a large double kitchen for personal cooking.
    Academic Rigor

    Depends on your major really .... some majors require lots of out of class work but in the end you feel very accomplished and the hard work pays off. Other majors dont require so much work but are still fun.
    Tips for prospective students

    Bring snow boots and an umbrella. The weather is beautiful but there is a few months that are full of snow. There are several areas to hang out and work on homework either with groups or individually. The TLC (commons) and the Student Union Building are great places to grad lunch or coffee and study with friends.

    Great College, very friendly, the downtown area is great and supports the college well - with events on the weekends as well as providing jobs for college students. The school is mid size, close knit with all majors and a very warm and inviting school to come and learn and earn a degree!

    It is a very safe campus, although the recent debate on whether to allow handguns on campus is fairly disturbing. There are quite a few Military students enrolled.
    Clubs and Activities

    Almost every department and college has a club, featuring research and funding opportunities. Shades of Black, the Native American Pow Wow, and Latin American Days are examples of several day events that happen throughout the school year. There are quite a few events to attend that are socially important, especially the Borah Symposium, and Jesse Jackson spoke here about a year ago.
    Great for these types of students

    Rural, agriculturally-based students who need to see the world slowly. It is a safe campus, and there are three churches there. It is also a great opportunity to travel abroad for programs through the school.

    We have established the first year of Zombie Wars, which entails wearing flags and chasing each other around the campus with plastic weapons. The OccupyWallstreet group held a small protest at the Commons, and there are bibles given out on the street corners on campus about 3-5 times a year. The Arboretum, however, is one of the best in the area! We also have our own golf course. Recently, the term Flagship was removed from the school's description, in an attempt to raise BSU to its standards, but it is still the only school in the area that actually fits the description.
    Bang for the buck

    It is a good experience and it is still fairly inexpensive in comparison to other colleges and universities. It could stand a great deal more diversity, however.
    What to do for fun

    There is a great deal of camping, swimming, and hiking in the area. Moscow Mountain is a beautiful retreat. There are parades, fireworks, and local community walks and sports as well.
    Food and Dining

    There is healthy and fast food dining in the Commons, and in one of the residential halls.
    Dorm Life

    The dorms are close to campus and also very safe. They close down for the summers, however, and the students that stay in town must seek temporary housing for two and a half months which is difficult.
    Academic Rigor

    Academically, the classroom sizes are fair, and therefore the rigor in the classes is a more one on one, making it easier to complete assignments. I would rate it as a fair amount of homework and exams. It doesn't seem very difficult.
    Tips for prospective students

    This is not a very diverse university, which they are trying to change. However, they keep raising their tuition, and still are combining more classes than ever. If you are not interested in agriculture or forestry, it might be wise to go elsewhere.

    The security here is excellent. They're out of the way when everything is fine, and when something is going wrong there are there in a heartbeat. The officers are friendly and easy to get along with.
    What to do for fun

    The arboretum is a great place to go for a stroll and enjoy the scenery. Downtown is only a few minutes away, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants. There are sports events nearly every day, though I haven't been to any, so I can't comment on how entertaining they may be.
    Food and Dining

    The food is excellent until you get used to it. Then it is expensive and low quality. You will miss real food. The food here is healthy and has vegan and vegetarian options.
    Dorm Life

    The dorms here are what you make of them. If you want to make friends and hang out, you will have no trouble finding people to join you in whatever interest you may have. If you want privacy, it will be easy to find quiet places to study. The RAs are good at keeping the noise level down and the dorms enjoyable.
    Academic Rigor

    If you are going for a civil engineering major, be prepared to work very hard. Nearly all of your classes with be brimming with math and logic problems. If you have to work, take 12 credits and work no more that twenty hours a week. You may not succeed otherwise.

    If you have to get a job here, come down about a month before school starts. The town will be nearly empty and many places are hiring. Also, if you have to work, try to avoid the required meal plan. You will most likely waste most of the meals, (which are not refunded and expire at the end of each week) which will waste hundreds of dollars.

    There are plenty of street lights if you're worried about walking in the dark. There is a 'Safe Walk' organization that is generous and always available. The easiest way to stay safe is to know where you're going, and to have good friends with you.

    Free movies at the SUB are pretty frequent, and always fun because most of them are classics. There is a plethora of clubs and groups to be involved in-it's worth it to explore them to find your common interests.

    The business dept. is really strong-particularly accounting. Music students will also thrive in that department: there's at least one concert a week, a ton of student recitals, and awesome involvement for majors and non majors.

    The new arboretum on campus is really amazing and makes for a good walk-or a really intense game of hide and seek/sardines at night.

    Look for events around campus-there's always something going on. And when you make friends, find fun things to do that you can only do in college, or on that campus, to make your years really memorable.

    There's a large variety of food in the main cafeteria, and the two coffee places on campus have good food and are nice for pick-me-ups throughout the day.

    Food is decent. If you're a first year student, you must purchase a meal plan. The plan pays for a certain a mount of meals a week and extra Flex Dollars that can be spent outside of the designated meals a week. The plan is expensive and the food is mediocre, but it's good to not have to worry about food expenses your first year.

    There's a good sense of community in the dorms. I lived in the dorms my first year there and I made a lot of close friends during that time.

    Classes vary just like anywhere else. On the whole, most professor are highly qualified and interesting to listen to. There;s a good variety of classes so students have many options.

    There is campus security personnel on campus walking and at nights and early mornings they are available to walk you from place to place so that you don't have to walk alone. I wish there was better lighting in some spots, and maybe some safety system put in place, but other than that safety on campus is fairly good.

    I really enjoy the Greek Life atmosphere because I have met so many new friends, gained many leadership skills, and have experienced many different situations.

    Even though I am an out of state resident, the bang for the buck I believe is pretty good. I enjoy the campus and what the school has to offer. I enjoy listening and learning from my professor and think they are very knowledgeable. Its a nice small community compared to the other schools I applied too and i like how i have so many friends because of that. It is definitely easy to find people to sit with on campus and catch up with.
    What to do for fun

    I enjoy going to movies in Moscow and Pullman, dinner, dancing at CJ's, and hanging out with friends. The arboretums are fun to run in, as well as picnic in. Shopping with friends at the Palouse Mall is always fun, as well as walks around main street.
    Food and Dining

    On campus dining is pretty good. I have eaten on campus for two years now, and even being lactose intolerant it has not been that challenging to find something that i can eat. Bobs is buffet style and all you can eat, while there is also Denny's that is open late nights, which is nice when you study so long and skip meals. The commons is buffet style but not all you can eat, and they have a good variety of items to choose from. Einsteins Bagels in the Commons is really convenient and nice to have for coffee between classes or for meeting up with friends. There are two sisters brews which are coffee stands that make better coffee then Einsteins Coffee does, personal opinion. There is a coffee shop in the SUB which is nice when you are studying in the morning over that way, but also there is a Starbucks in the UI Bookstore close to the SUB.
    Dorm Life

    I lived in the tower my freshman year and it was decent. I felt it was hard to make friends. The rooms were nicely divided, and there was plenty of space for everything plus some. The tower was right across from the student rec center where we worked out, which was really nice.
    Academic Rigor

    The honors classes are very rigorous, while regular classes are not too bad. As always expect lots of homework, for teachers expect you to have time to spend doing it.
    Tips for prospective students

    Go Greek! Keep academics a priority and like a job that you have to spend the majority of your day doing. Because there are always distractions, also learn how to say no to some things. Volunteer any chances you get, and Study Abroad.

    The campus is beautiful in all seasons, especially fall and spring. The majority of classes I have taken consist of around 30-60 people. The professors are really involved, and have always been there for me when I have needed extra help or had questions.

    The campus has a large and vibrant Greek life. The houses are actively involved in campus activities and organizations. It is a great place to get plugged in to what is happening on campus.

    Everyone can find something to do or some group to be part of. Students also have to opportunity to create new groups relatively easily and I have seen several new groups form and flourish.

    A lot of people love to go downtown to this hot dog stand that gets set up only on weekend nights. It is not uncommon to hear people going at 2 or 3 am to get hot dogs.

    Moscow is a fun little town to live in. It is definitely dedicated to the students in the community and for a small place, has quite a bit to do to keep one busy. With several other college towns close by, no one will die of boredom.

    The University has several different places to get food on campus and the quality is actually pretty good. In recent years, the quantity and quality of food on campus has improved substantially. As with anywhere, the food on campus can get a little old, but that just makes going home for Christmas that much sweeter.

    The University has been around for some time so the dorms are certainly not brand new but steps are constantly being taken to improve the dorms. While my dorm experience may not have been the same as for others, I truly enjoyed living in the dorms, even with a broken heater. I made a ton of friends in the dorms!

    The academic rigor of the institution seems to depend most on which department or class one is in. Some of the more technical majors, like architecture, engineering or the sciences, are known to be quite rigorous. Some of the other departments are not quite as rigorous but there are always difficult classes in each major/department.

    Greek life is huge at the University of Idaho. They are often expanding and they have a big impact on our campus leadership roles. I am not personally into the Greek life but everyone who is in it seems to enjoy it a lot.

    They have many clubs offered to students and run by students. They are a great way to meet people. I personally joined our horse polo team and I had a blast!

    We have an arbitorium which is a huge garden walk through place that is absolutely gorgeous. Also we have a large greek community which I know they have many traditions of their own.

    It is a small town but they have great locally owned places that offer unique things to do. It is a party town so if you are into that it is a great place to go as well.

    BOBs is the cafeteria that freshman are required to eat at and it is awful. They also have flex dollars though and they allow you to eat and shop at the on campus dining locations and they are good but very overpriced.

    The first year you have to live on campus. I lived in Wallace first semester and did not like it. Then I lived in the Tower and loved it and next year I am living in the LLCs which is the only other building on campus, they are very nice.
    Academic Rigor

    The teachers are all really great with making time for students. We have a high graduation rate and great grades. Only problems would be some foreign teachers having issues communicating well with their accents.
    Tips for prospective students

    Make sure that you are able to handle Idaho weather. The town is small but very nice. Get housing arrangements done early if you want the best housing options.

    I have never felt unsafe walking across campus. The university has a BEAR program which seeks to aid and protect women on campus by providing an involved member to walk women from one location to another as a protective buddy-system.
    Greek Life

    The University of Idaho has an involved Greek system that is constantly growing. Once deemed a top party school, the Greek system has truly turned its focus to more productive activities, such as nationwide philanthropies and helping the smaller, local communities. Although I was a participant of the Greek system for three years I do advocate that it is not for everyone, and there are ample ways to get involved on campus that does not include joining a fraternity or sorority.
    Clubs and Activities

    Individuals have opportunities to start their own club, or join a preexisting one, that rages from anything sports related to political or social based clubs with higher goals of influencing and changing the community. Aside from those, there are multiple academic based clubs on campus that are nationally proclaimed and greatly benefit any students university career and future profession.

    I can't think of a single student that would not be able to find their place as a Vandal at the University of Idaho.

    One unusual occurrence that has happened at U of I the last several semesters is a campus wide game of Zombies Vs. Humans. The U of I is packed with traditional locations on campus including the beautiful hello walk leading to the administration building, and the notorious U of I water tower.

    As an out of state student, the tuition costs are not affordable without financial aid and scholarships. However, for the student that's willing to work hard and appreciate the benefits of this school, they will never regret it. I've found the connections I've made with people, in both my professional and personal life, to be well worth the extra money I pay each semester.

    The University of Idaho campus is a long boarders dream - large sloping hills and gentle curves allows for countless opportunities. The rec center, swimming pool, fields, and climbing wall presents hours of fun for any student. I enjoy taking rec classes, such as yoga, on top of my course load for enjoyment purposes throughout my days on campus.

    The food on campus is full of options and gives ample opportunity to eat healthy and smart. On campus dining is excellent for students living on-campus. However, in my experience the food is priced unreasonably high for students who do not receive a food plan.

    The dorms on campus range from mediocre rooms upwards to individual apartment style dorm suits. In my experience, staying in the least costly of the options I found the best personal connections and was able to forge many friendships I still hold close and rely on today.

    The academics at the University of Idaho are challenging, however not impossible. I have found that although the university's standards are set high, they have never once been out of reach for the average student.

    The most important tip to remember for prospective students is to know your professors. In all my experiences I have benefited largely from collaborating with and getting to know my professors outside of the classroom.

    While I am not living in a sorority I was the 'House Sweetheart' to a fraternity on campus and am friends with many people in the Greek system who always speak very highly of it. One of the main things they emphasize is the family like bond that you build with your Greek brothers and sisters.

    No matter what your passion in there is a club or activity here for you on campus I can assure you of that! My freshman year I joined around 5 clubs and was really involved and I found that it made college a much more enjoyable place.

    Since we are the Vandals we have a new saying called Throw the V which is when you make a V with your pointer and middle finger on your right hand and anytime we score a point at a sporting event the student section and players alike all 'Throw the V.

    For me being an out of state tuition with some scholarships it is actually cheaper for me to attend the University of Idaho than to attend college in my home state. I think that everything here is very affordable and we as students receive a lot of amenities and free entertainment while attending the college.
    What to do for fun

    There are so many things to do for fun in Idaho, the mall is a short walk from campus, the Student Rec has intramurals that every one can sign up for, you can also join a competitive club team such as softball, baseball, or rodeo. Each department of the University also has multiple clubs and organizations that you can become a part of and in the past years the University has done a great job of putting on campus wide concerts, movie showings, or games.
    Food and Dining

    Bob's dining hall was AMAZING! They have a full service salad bar, a pizza station, dessert bar, vegetarian station, ethnic food station, and of course the home style cooking station. You will never go hungry at Bob's and the staff is wonderful and the atmosphere is great there are tons of places to sit and TV's on the wall so you can catch up on sports or your favorite show.
    Dorm Life

    I had an amazing time in the dorm and am still friends with at least 50% of the people that I met there. Dorm life gives you a chance to meet people, participate in activities, and become social within the University. I highly recommend the dorms here!

    The classes are challenging especially in your first year when you are not used to being in college but the professors are amazing and their doors are always open I have found.

    Come to college with an open mind and remember that all the other freshman at orientation are just like you, out on their own for the first time and looking to make friends. Take every opportunity that is thrown your way to participate in activities on campus, within your housing community, and outside of campus because this is how you will meet future friends and classmates.

    There are over a 100 different clubs I believe and lots of different activities open to students. Homecoming week is fun, with lots of different activities to do throughout the week. A lot of the activities depend on the clubs that put them on.

    Great for the outdoor and sporty type of students. But there's actually a great diversity of students on campus. If you don't like big cities this is the place to be. If you're looking for an adventure, come to U of I.

    Homecoming week is a fun tradition. After the homecoming football game everyone goes out to the parking lot for a huge bonfire and a fireworks display. I never expected an event like this. Also, one of the paths in the Admin lawn, the President would walk down the path and say hi to students walking past. He would follow them until they said hi back if they didn't respond to him. Palousafest is a great thing put on for new freshman to get a glance at all the different clubs and local businesses around. There's also live music and other fun activities.

    University of Idaho is a great place for academics and social life. The town of Moscow is a nice, homey college town.
    What to do for fun

    A really good thing to do for fun is to get involved with intramural sports. There's a great arboretum that is great for walking/running or just looking around. We've played capture the flag in it a couple times. There's also a nice 18-hole golf course on campus. There is usually lots of events that are on campus. Going into town is great too. Lots of good restaurants and coffee shops. You can also go to the mall. Pullman isn't too far away where you can go to more restaurants, the movie theater, bowling alley, and other small shops.
    Food and Dining

    The are some great food places on campus such as Einstein's, Stover's, Denny's AllNighter, and Mein Bowl. Bob's Place, the cafeteria, is decent but some of the food is bland. They have a really good sandwich bar and salad bar.
    Dorm Life

    Dorm life is good to get acquainted with people and build friendships, socialize, and do have academic support and help with students that are in the same area of study as you. I also like having the choice of living on co-ed floors if desired. After your first year, I recommend finding living off campus because it is cheaper. But if you still want the social atmosphere I recommend staying in the dorms.
    Academic Rigor

    There's definitely enough academic rigor to keep you busy but not so busy that you just want to quit. The academic rigor really depends on the chosen major. The advertising department is good at getting its students to expand and challenge their creativity.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you are unsure about the University of Idaho I recommend taking a campus tour; that's what sold me. Make sure you ask questions about anything that you may be unsure of or even to double check stuff. The admissions staff is very helpful. It's a great campus.

    Book buy back is your friend. You can go to a few different places and they will buy your text books back. Do not sell them back to the bookstore, go anywhere else.

    Outdoor activities. Get into them. You will be doing them a lot. Frisbee golf, hiking, camping, and bicycling are your friend.

    There are limited places to eat on campus and around town. So you better get used to Pita Pit. However, there are a couple of interesting places to eat in downtown Moscow and Pullman. And, if you're craving something not found in either, CDA and Spokane aren't too far away.

    Dorm life is decent. You make a lot of friends, however, Wallace does not the best of accomadation. The tower is slightly better, but keep in mind that you have to share a bathroom with your whole floor.

    The classes are usually very easy, or very challenging, there is little in between. As long as you show up, you should do well.

    If you are going to join a sorority or fraternity, be aware that they expect you to uphold a certain GPA and you are required to attend various meetings and socials. If you fail to attend, or your GPA drops below a certain average, you will be dismissed. Also be aware that Moscow is at it's heart, a small town. There is usually not a whole lot to do. If you do not enjoy the outdoors or snow, Moscow is not the place for you.

    The University of Idaho is a great school if you are planning to go into any type of agricultural or animal science major. The beautiful campus is also an excellent inspiration for those of us who enjoy the arts. However, it is overpriced for a degree in anything not specializing in agriculture and animals.

    The university has security officers who stroll the campus at all times, and there is a police booth in the Commons if you ever need help. There's also an emergency number you can call to connect with security. Overall, the campus is very secure and it helps that it's a closed campus.

    Although Moscow is a small, college town, there is a wide range of possibilities for fun. The Kenworthy Theater downtown offers popular and indie films for cheap, and a stroll down Main Street is a fun way to pass some time. Pullman, Washington is only eight miles away, so a quick trip there can also be a great way to spend the day. A hike or camping trip on Moscow Mountain is a good option for the outdoorsy types, and there are biking trails for bike enthusiasts. There are events that occur monthly or yearly on campus and in the community as well, so it's always good to keep your eyes open for those! But most of the fun comes with spending time with friends and just doing whatever you feel like!

    For those in the dorms, Bob's is probably your main source of food. Bob's is your typical buffet-style cafeteria. It offers vegetarian, international, and classic dishes that vary day to day. There are the staples: salad, pizza, burgers, etc., but their is enough variety to keep things from getting too boring. The food quality is not bad and if you mix things up, you'll stay satisfied. Other dining on campus include a food court in the Commons, a pita shop in the Albertson's building, a Denny's, and a few coffee shops here and there. If you don't have a meal plan with Flex dollars, dining around campus can prove to be expensive, so eat at these establishments as a freshman when you have the chance!
    Dorm Life

    In the dorms, you meet new people and learn what it's like to live closely with others. Even if you're shy, you have to communicate with others and it's truly an opportunity to blossom and open up. The Tower is the best choice for first year students; many, if not most, students keep their doors open and people visit each other constantly. The dorms are your average residence halls; not fancy or extremely swanky, but clean and suitable for students' needs. Dorm life can often be hectic, messy and crowded, but if you look at it as a chance to make friends and explore your new college life, then it's rewarding in the end!

    I have seen no issues so far during my time here, and I think you will not have a whole lot to worry about. There is security patrolling the campus twenty-four seven as well as video surveillance in many places, and those two factors together do a great job. There are also many police cars that drive through the campus quite a few times during the day to make sure things are staying in line, and they are quick to crack down on anything that shouldn't be going on. I think you will feel very safe here.
    Greek Life

    I personally don't live in the Greek housing, but I have heard very good things about it. It feel that it would be worth taking a look at. If you don't like it, there's still other options out there for you.
    Clubs and Activities

    There are many choices here. You have a wide variety of options, ranging anywhere from study groups, to religious groups to intramural sports. No matter what your interest, you should be able to find a group here that like the same thing that you do!
    Great for these types of students

    This school is great for anyone wanting to get into the engineering program or computers in general. The U of I has one of the top 10 engineering programs in the country. The music program is also fantastic here, with many different choices to offer. If these aren't your thing, there is still a very wide variety of programs that you can get into, that are all greatly constructed!

    If you like zombies or Nerf guns, then this is totally the activity for you!! Every year, the U of I has an annual humans vs zombies war that goes on for one week. This is done several times throughout the year and is an absolute blast!! Registration is easy, free, and this is a great way to make some friends, on and off the zombie hunting grounds!!

    So far, I find this school very worth the investment. The tuition isn't bad if you come from out-of-state, and if you are an Idaho resident, it is even better. Like I said earlier, the staff here is very friendly. They truly want to help you with whatever it is that you are wanting to get into in life, rather than just collect their tuition bill and send you on your way.
    What to do for fun

    There is much to do here for fun. My personal favorite is the Student Recreation Center, which has just about everything you can think of when it comes to sports... Anything from weights to Foosball to the indoor track, to the intramural sports offered outside of the gym. If sports isn't your thing, then find a friend and go grab a cup of coffee, find a spot on campus and just relax for a bit. The downtown area also offers some fun places to hang out and relax for a little while during breaks in the week, or on the weekends.
    Food and Dining

    There are quite a few options here as far as dining goes. This school has three decent meal plans that you can choose from that are all unique depending on how much you plan to eat. The nice thing too, is that if you ever need a break from the campus food, there are sandwich shops, fast food joints, and grocery stores most conveniently located within a half mile of the campus!
    Dorm Life

    No matter what residential hall you decide to live in, the one thing you will have to get used to is the heat. It will be very warm in the dorms at times, so bring good fan. Beside that, it is a very comfortable environment, with many people who are just as scared and curious as you are, so it makes it a rather friendly environment.
    Academic Rigor

    This will all depend on what you decide to major in. No matter what you decide to go with, there will definitely be some challenges at times for some of your courses, but the nice thing about the U of I is the professors are very helpful and will make sure that you understand the material. If you don't, they will be willing help you one on one, or through different forms of class lectures. Tutors are also available if your professor is not, and they are very helpful.
    Tips for prospective students

    1. If you can, try to find something that interests you and research it. 2. Research farther by contacting the heads of the departments you want to major in. I can tell you from personal experience, the staff here is going to do everything they can to help you get going in the right direction. 3. Meet some new people and have some fun! There is plenty of fun activities to partake in downtown, and on campus. This includes study groups as well!

    Moscow is an extremely small town. I would feel safe walking alone in the middle of the night (though I rarely need to), and the law enforcement is always involved, but not to the point of feeling overbearing. Campus security is always available to walk one to their car at night if needed, or for anything else. The overall feeling of safety here on campus is strong.
    Greek Life

    The Greek system is a strong component of the student population. Over half the student population is in the Greek system, and academics are a high priority for each house, as well as campus involvement and personal growth. There is a house for everyone, and everyone is generally welcoming and helpful.
    Clubs and Activities

    There is a club/activity for everyone, and if a club hasn't been started for an activity yet, it certainly is in the planning! From the marching band, to the ballroom team, there are over 300 clubs on campus.

    Students who come looking for a smaller school with a lot more involvement in campus and town life, or a more open campus. Also, students who come from smaller, more rural towns and like the feel of a small town, with all the amenities of city/college life.

    Ridenbaugh Hall is our practice hall for the music department, and is also the last original building standing from the founding of the university in the 1880's. It originally was a women's dormitory. There are also many other long-standing traditions, including a acknowledgement at graduation if you have fulfilled all the traditions at the university in your time there(a book is available to help you check off traditions!)

    Idaho is in the middle of the spectrum for how affordable it is. For in-state, it is definitely affordable. For out of state people, it can get tough at times, but there is always a financial solution to be found.
    What to do for fun

    Moscow is known as the Heart of the Arts, for its art gallery, various festivals, including the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival, the many outdoor related activities in and around the Palouse region, and many more events. Winter, Fall, Spring, or Summer, there is always something going on at campus and/or in town.
    Food and Dining

    There is a 24 hour fast food restaurant on campus, as well as a cafeteria style dining hall, and a food court in the commons, in addition to smaller places round campus. Downtown Moscow is also full of great and affordable restaurants of all food types, and with our sister university Washington State 8 miles away, there is no limit to food choices.
    Dorm Life

    There is a residence hall for everyone: from those who like a quiet study environment, to those who are outdoor enthusiasts, to even a residence hall building designed specifically for the freshmen (if they so choose to live there). There are plenty of activities to get involved in as a hall, from intermural sports teams, to Homecoming week competitions, to even ice cream socials.
    Academic Rigor

    The lower-division classes here are generally easy to work through, depending on class, and your academic major. The ones that are specifically for your major, can be tough, but you do learn a lot of valuable information that you can utilize in your college career and beyond. There is a healthy balance of academic focus, and campus spirit here.

    Research your major choices, and contact academic advisers, never be afraid to ask questions! Take some time to visit campus and get a feel for the classes you would be taking, and talk to others in that major. People here are pretty open and willing to help prospective students.

    I am currently on the University of Idaho Ballroom Team. It is an amazing group of people, we travel for competitions and put on social dances.

    Tuition could always be cheaper of course... but as far as overall, this university is one of the cheapest without compromising rigor or professionalism.

    There is a lot to do for fun. On campus and off. There are always prominent speakers and plays going on. There are movies and study groups. Off campus there is movies, ice skating, shopping at the local mall.

    The cafeteria doesn't do a great job providing food, however the surrounding establishments and on campus eateries are amazing. I love Einsteins bagels!

    The Residence halls here to a great job socializing new students and plugging them into clubs etc.

    Be sure to get a good idea of what you would like to do before picking a major just to have a major, otherwise if you want to change it it will take forever.

    There is a work out center with a large rock climbing wall. There are several restaurants to attend, and an arboretum to walk around, and lastly a golf course, but other than that, there is not much else to do.

    They have many food options around/near campus. All of the food that I have eaten has been very good. No complaints.

    I don't live in a dorm, so I'm not quite sure how dorm life is around here. I do know that they offer dorms where no alcohol is allowed so they stay quiet.

    A lot more is required from you than at North Idaho College. Be prepared to study a lot more and ask what your teachers expectations are.

    Make sure they have the degree you are seeking. Make sure you are willing to live in a town with nothing to do and be surrounded by fields. Make sure to ask others currently attending this school to ask which teachers to take for your classes.

    We have security guards that patrol campus 24 hours a day. They are very helpful and if ever needed there is a number you can call and they will walk you home free of charge for your own saftey.

    The university is all about clubs and their success. I am currently the president of the University Of Idaho Trap Team, which is a club sport. The university helps us with funding so we can continue to grow an compete with other schools.

    There has never been a time on campus that I have felt unsafe. Everywhere is pretty well lit up at night to get from one place to another, and there is a safety walk for people who are not comfortable with walking somewhere alone.

    There is a gap between residence halls and greek life, so those students that live in the residents halls do not know much about greek life and vise versa.

    Living in the state is probably the best option.

It is the best in Forestry and other College of Natural Resources in the country, it has a wonderful English, Business and Law program along with smaller but still good arts and writing program.     My tips for prospective students would be to go to the campus, meet the adviser, see where you will be spending the next four years. Don't be afraid, it will be scary at first but after no time you will begin to love it. You have a great opportunity to meet so many individuals who you will keep in touch for your whole college experience and beyond.

    Campus safety is great! There are security guards walking all around campus every single night and there is also a number that you can call to have a security guard walk you home if you are at the gym or library late at night and don't feel comfortable walking by yourself.

    Recently there have been a lot of bad incidents so now I really can't say campus safety is good (if you want details I can't because some of those incidents involved some of my friend and personally I don't want to reveal what happened to them).

    Great Greek Life most of my friends are greek and they all say that it has been a great bonding experience with their brothers and most other fraternities/sororities.

    Very difficult to find all the clubs, but if you find them you can actually meet a lot of people and have some great experiences.

    The Bagel Shop is the most popular place to eat for students because it opens late enough for drunk students to eat a fresh steamed bagel at decent prices.

    I'm using this school for transfer credits only I recommend all other students do the same. You can prevent tens of thousands of dollars of debt if you become a transfer student.

    Go to bars, fishing, intermural sports, or party there or in Pullman.

    Dorms are horrible especially the Wallace dorm. Go for fraternities, much better experience.

    Students aren't very motivated to earn high GPA's mostly because the professors there are either very good or very bad at teaching.

    consider using this school for transfer credits and after a couple years transfer to a better school because unless you want to be a mechanical engineer then this school isn't for you.

    When looking at your class schedule, try and put some breaks in there. During those breaks, it is best to either relax or do some homework because it is quiet.

    What to do for fun

    There are many things to do around Moscow such as go swimming, hiking, water rafting, snowboarding, etc. Get out and enjoy the fresh air.
    Food and Dining

    The food here is just like any cafeteria because it could be better. I am thankful that I get fed, but for how much I am paying per meal it should be much better.
    Dorm Life

    The dorms are great for an experience, but the price is high for these small rooms. Also, housing has strict rules so a lot of people are moving out into apartments.
    Academic Rigor

    When coming to academics the faculty are there to help you. Whatever questions you may have ask and they are there to help you.
    Tips for prospective students

    Know what you want to study and go for it. If you do not know then try a little bit of everything because you will love something.

    The University of Idaho is a wonderful school where the faculty are there to help you. You learn all that you need to know for your degree and is hands on. The university is a great school for studies.
