I've learned things so far in every course I've taken and have met really great professors and instructors. You learn a lot from the people as well. They're from all over the world.

There are a lot of cornfields, but it adds to the Midwestern charm. People are very down-to-earth, friendly and involved in campus (through Registered Student Organizations, club sports, etc.) Students work very hard -- we are known for having a great Engineering school -- but they also take price in being Princeton Review's No. 3 Party school.

This university is very focused on sciences and engineering. Programs outside of science and engineering tend to get much less funding. The university is also pretty segregated, although there is a wide variety of people on this campus the separation is obvious among students.

UIUC is a huge campus full of opportunities for all majors, especially if you've been accepted into a STEM major. Opportunities for internships and Co-Ops are everywhere because companies know that a student educated at UIUC is going to be a top-notch hard worker and learner. Getting your degree is never going to be easy here, but the challenge pays off in the end because of this University's fine reputation: you are employable.

When I made my college decision on April 29 (I know, quite close to the deadline), I wasn't sure if I would like University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, but now having stayed here for a semester, I love every single minute of it. The diverse campus, the breadth of curriculum, the challenging classes, all those make UIUC the perfect college experience for any freshman who may not know what they want to do yet. I've made so many friends with so many interests and have explored so many different paths that even though I may not be sure yet of what I want my life to play out as, I know there are so many opportunities out there.
