    Great for these types of students

    As a student athlete I can say, this is a great place for student athletes. At University of Indianapolis they not only take pride in the athlete but the student, therefore many of the athletes are well ranked academically. Other great programs at University of Indianapolis is the Physical Therapy program and Nursing. Two of which are ranked high in Indiana.
    Tips for prospective students

    Continue to work hard in high school and at the same time be well rounded. University of Indianapolis is very big on volunteering and believes in serving. To increase your chances on being accepted go out in your community and serve.
    Bang for the buck

    University of Indianapolis is very personal and sees there students as a person not a number. Professors go out of there way to help you and faculty across the campus are there to help also. Not to mention University of Indianapolis host many fun events for there students such as Christmas dinner, midnight breakfast during finals, free shirt give aways, you name it. Of course academics are important, but the fact that the University is able to include other fun events makes it even better.
    Am enjoying being here

    Indianapolis is located just 5 minutes outside the city, therefore offers a student less distractions and at the same time opportunities to enjoy the excitement of one of the largest cities in the United States. The faculty and students at University of Indianapolis are great people. As a new student you will be taken care of and the new student experience will be quite easy and enjoyable.
    Am learning a lot

    University of Indianapolis has challenged me academically but has given me the resources I need to succeed at a higher level.

    Tips for prospective students

    Don't be afraid to get to know your professors. It's really alright if they know your name. Also get involved on campus; there are many different opportunities available for you to use.
    Bang for the buck

    It might cost a more expensive, but it is definitely worth it. The professors are always willing to spend time with you and help you with problem material. Also there are many useful resources that are on campus that are available to students. These services include help services for job placement in the future, information concerning majors and minors, and many other services are available.
    Am enjoying being here

    There over 50 student organizations on campus. I am probably actively involved in 3 clubs. I also participate in the chapel ministries and play intramural sports. There are always a variety of activities I can participate in. Everyone at school is accepting of other people. Many people spend time hanging out with their friends throughout the day. I am a commuter student, but I spend a majority of my time at school participating in activities or spending time with friends.
    Am learning a lot

    I love attending class every day. The professor are there and are willing to teach you every thing they can about the subjects covered during class. Even though I have taken similar classes to some that I took last semester, I still learned a lot more information during my first semester on the discussed subjects.

    Tips for prospective students

    Classes are small enough so you can get to know your professors pretty easily, and they are totally open to getting to know you. Decide your major early. What ever it is, they get you into the field during your freshman year. Don't feel like you have to live on campus, because there are alot of housing options close to the school. Get to class early if you don't want to walk a mile just to get a parking space. They are building new parking lots now, but there is also construction on Hanna Ave, right in front of the school so it kinda slows things down.

    The professors are GREAT! The classes teach you so much! The campus is small but big enough with lots of extras like the fitness center, free admission to almost everything held on campus, free tshirts and other junk, an awesome book store, textbook rentals, a lot of options for meal plans, and also the campus police for your safety!
    Am enjoying being here

    I am a commuter student, so it is harder for me to get involved in activities, events, and organizations, but they are all there for the taking. I have heard a lot of the older students and faculty say that they want you to feel like UIndy is your second home, so they do a lot to reach that goal. I myself am not very out going, but if you are or not, you still get to know a lot of people, and will get involved in more than you expect.
    Am learning a lot

    I learn something every time I go to class. Since I am going full time, I, like a lot of you I'm sure, feel like skipping your 8:00 am class to sleep a little extra. But everytime I think about skipping I make myself go. And everytime I do go I learn something that will benefit me on my final. The professors are great and will do anything they can to help you learn all you can.

    It is a bit on the expensive side but it is worth every penny.

    I love the campus and that it is close to downtown Indianapolis if you want to escape school for a bit.

    The teachers at this school help so much to make sure each student masters the concepts. I have not walked out of any class not learning something new and useful.

    Great for students who enjoy a small environment where you get to know a lot of different people. Great for students who have an academic strive for excellence.
    Tips for prospective students

    Look for outside scholarships to help pay for the costs of school. Get involved with student ran organizations but also professional organizations. Check out options like renting and buying used textbooks.

    This university is more on the expensive side, but it is due to being a small private school that doesn't receive financial support from the government. The university tries to offer a wide variety of options for financial aid for students. The school is also renovating a lot of the campus to make it more desirable for prospective students.
    Am enjoying being here

    University of Indianapolis' campus is a small private college. It gives you a chance to meet more of the people on campus. Larger campuses have a larger student population, so you don't get to meet a lot of the people on campus. This university is trying to get the students more involved in what is going on around campus. Most events are ran by student organizations. I enjoy the close environment with students and teachers.

    I am currently a Sophomore Nursing Student at the University of Indianapolis. I have learned so much about the field of nursing just within these first couple of years. As a nursing major we get to experience class room styled learning but also practical and clinical styled learning, Being in a specific programs allows you to connect with students who are pursuing the same career as you. Some classes are more difficult than others, but the professors are always open to helping out the students.

    Tips for prospective students

    Make sure you research your wants and needs before going to a college. I made that mistake, and although I have enjoyed aspects of UIndy for my freshman year of college, I personally would have taken a different route if I could go back.
    Bang for the buck

    UIndy is remodeling, adding, and expanding it's size which gives the school a modern, updated look. They just added the new dining areas a few years ago which is cool because you can get burgers, subs, burritos, etc. The grab and go is also nice because you can just pop in and spend you meal swipes on snacks, drinks, and meals for your dorms that you can save for days to come. I feel however, that UIndy is a bit overpriced. The meal plan for incoming freshman is a bit high and if you are like me and don't eat 4 meals a day then by the time the semester is over you have tons of meals left valuing at 6.00 a pop, which adds up and is basically money tossed down the drain. The other aspect that I believe is overpriced are the dorms. A few dorms here are newer and remodeled and very nice for the price that they are at. If you are like me and like in the older dorms (New Hall, Corey Bretz, Warren, or Cravens) then they are very outdated with many things being broken, falling apart, or just a bit dirty. I enjoyed living in New Hall for the most part because it isn't the average dorm, but for the price I feel that they could update the rooms and bathrooms and kitchens a bit.

    Before attending college, I didn't research too much about what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. I landed on UIndy from the internet and basically figured I would try it for a year because I already had plans to transfer to another college afterwards. Arriving here the first thing you notice is the size. UIndy is pretty small and you get that feeling of high school again. Although I love the fact that it doesn't have 50,000 students here and you get to see and know many of the same faces each and every day here, it seems a bit like high school. Many of the students here went to high school with each other and immediately there are already cliques and groups before you even have a change to mingle (like me who didn't know anyone). I met a few people that I gained a personal friendship with and after leaving UIndy after my freshman year I know I will carry that friendship on throughout my life. The small school feeling is awesome, but if you want that feeling that everyone is trying to meet new people and there aren't too many cliques besides the usually sports ones, then I would advise to look elsewhere. You never know though, those few friends you might meet here will be genuine people that you can count on for days to come. It is really a gamble of the dice.
    Am learning a lot

    In college, you are guaranteed to learn something regardless of what kind of student you may be. Although freshman year is supposed to be the learning year and finding yourself, I personally haven't found myself yet. There have been a few teachers here who I am so glad to have had, Dr. Prestia (history, etc.) and Dr. Cousert (Management) that have taught me so much about their respective studies that I would have to be sleeping in class in order to have not learned a thing. I took so many goals, lessons, new understandings, and values away from each teacher I wish I would have had them in highschool! If you happen to attend UIndy and have either Dr. Prestia or Dr. Cousert, you won't be sorry because you will not only learn a ton of material that you will take with you for life, you will also have fun each and every class. On the downside, however, I had many teachers who seemed to not know how to teach. I will not name any names, but they just read the book and assigned assignments and expected each student to automatically know what to do. I get it's college and you are supposed to not rely on teachers for everything, but that is their job to teach us. All in all, I have learned quite a few things here at UIndy. I love how classes are very small and you have a close relationship with you teachers. You aren't just another number on a piece of paper and in most cases, each teacher knows you by name and vice versa. That would be the aspect of UIndy that I loved the most. You can go to your professors office after class and sit down and have a conversation about your struggles and whatnot, and in most cases they genuinely help you out until you know what to do. Although not every college has this few students where that is possible, every college should strive towards that goal because it really does help out a lot and UIndy is doing a fine job in that aspect.

    Campus Safety

    It is true that the university of Indianapolis is not in the greatest part of downtown Indy. There are emergency call boxes all around campus and the university is lit up at night, so I have not felt threatened. It still is always safer to walk with friends after a night class.
    Greek Life

    There is no Greek life, which was a contributing factor for choosing this university. Only the athletes have athletic houses.
    Clubs and Activities

    There are not too many activities offered on campus because of the campus being called a suitcase campus where people leave on the weekends. Clubs offer numerous volunteer opportunities that are extremely fun, from walking dogs at the animal shelter to playing with kids. This 2012-2013 year there have been weekend activities sponsored by our Residence Hall Association that have kept me on campus many weekends.
    Great for these types of students

    This school is good for the students who don't want to be overwhelmed when they first start in college. Professors are personable, and it is easy to get one-on-one time if you are struggling.
    Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    Our most famous tradition is the midnight pancake breakfast before finals week! There is live entertainment and fun activities to lead up to the breakfast, and a good time to study and relax before the big week.
    Bang for the buck

    It is a private school, but they offer tons of scholarships to make it reasonable. Athletes receive very good scholarships. With my Occupational Therapy program, it is worth the money.
    What to do for fun

    For fun, I mostly hang out with friends on weekends and go downtown. Girls-Night Out mostly consists of a trip to the Cheesecake Factory in Greenwood. It is about a 15 minute drive to Circle Center from the university. I also have joined clubs that offer weekly events where you are able to meet people and just have some fun. I HIGHLY recommend joining Circle K!
    Food and Dining

    The food is extremely good most days, there are occasional times when the food is a big questionable. You can always count on the grilled chicken and salad bar! There are many vegetarian options. The only problem are the dining hours on weekends which are very limited, but there are fast food places nearby. The dining hours have been extended this 2012-2013 academic year and I have no complaints:)
    Dorm Life

    Dorm life depends on which dorm you stay in. Upperclassmen dorms are extremely nice, especially the dorm that will open up next year. the dorms are very close to the dining hall, at most a 4 minute walk. The RA's are awesome and plan times where your floor can meet up and have a fondu night or a movie night. your floor will be your college family.
    Academic Rigor

    Classes are small, so it makes a better learning environment than a 200 person lecture class some campuses have. The classes are good to ease you in your first semester, but it really depends what professors you have and what classes you take.
    Tips for prospective students

    Be prepared for a smaller campus, which is nice if you are looking for a more personable environment. There is good school spirit for athletics, so don't be afraid to join in!

    The university of Indianapolis is an amazing school that offers numerous opportunities for their students. The smaller classrooms create an environment where questions can be asked comfortably, and answered quickly. Most of the professors are down to earth, and genuinely care about their students success.

    If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Look and compare countless colleges before making the final decision.
    Tips for prospective students

    Do not listen to what college recruiters tell you about small class sizes. The teacher-student ratio is not 1-15 your freshman year. You'll be lucky if you have a class with less than 30 people.
    Bang for the buck

    As I mentioned above, this university is for the upper-class. The tuition keeps going up. Without room and board and meal plan, the tuition is almost $23,000! What average joe can afford a school like this?! Freshman year wasn't worth the $20,000 I am going to regret paying for after I graduate from a different college.
    Did enjoy being here

    I absolutely hated going to U of I. The main reason I most likely did not connect with the people on campus and the school itself was because I was a commuter, which exculded me from meeting more friends and obtaining a better campus experience. Another reason I did not like this school was because most of the students that were enrolled were over-priveledged, upper-class, only child students. I; however, come from a much different background and therefore did not connect with the teachers or students.
    Did learn a lot

    In my experience at this university good professors come few and far between. Freshman year was the worst experience I could have expected. Whether or not I paid attention in class, if I did not do the extra reading I did, then I would have no idea what was going on.

    I can tell this school will be great for everyone who likes a community environment. The student teacher ratio is 14:1! :) I can't wait to apply and hopefully get accepted.

    I like the fact the in-state and out-of-state tuition is the same that makes things a little easier for me since I will be paying for my schooling.

    This is a great school where you will get what you pay for: a great education surrounded by great people. You don't have to worry about not having what you need because at the University of Indianapolis, everything is within reach! My only suggestion is that if you have a car, don't bring it unless you absolutely need it. The school is growing and parking space is running low. But they're working on that!
    Bang for the buck

    The University of Indianapolis if expensive, but the high cost goes toward creating a positive learning experience that you will never forget. The resources and facilities are very well taken care of, and you can find almost everything you need on campus. The health clinic charges $35 per year for complete services, including giving you medicine. The library has a vast catalogue, and if you can't find what you need there then they direct to a place where you can find it. The Christel DeHaans Fine Arts Center is an acoustically perfect performance hall where there is always some sort of performance going on, where you can see your fellow students and teachers perform for free. The offices, such as financial aid and accounting, are helpful and will answer your questions.

    It's a great campus, very beautiful. The dorms are very nice, and are filled with fantastic people.

    Classes are small enough to where the professors can get to know their students, and provide one-on-one time if needed. They are helpful and will listen to ideas.

    the uindy campus is extremely safe. we have uindy police patrol 24 hours a day 7 days a week. we have police telephone booths located conveniently around campus that will contact the campus police the second you pick it up. if your feeling scared walking at night, you can pick up the phone and a campus police will be there in a couple of minutes to take you to your destination.
    Clubs and Activities

    join, join, join. clubs here at uindy are always putting on great events. intramural sports are a lot of fun. uindy is located about 5 miles away from downtown indianapolis. so on the weekends you can go to the famous circle center mall.

    uindy is great for the academic that wants to have fun while getting a great education. it is ideal for the student who wants the teacher to know their name and care for their education.
    Bang for the buck

    uindy is a great investment. they make it easy to get financial aid. the best thing is our student/faculty ratio. at 15:1 you have a teacher that can really care for you and actually be able to teach you. the quality of the education is one of the best in indiana.
    What to do for fun

    participate. join clubs and play intramural sports. go to the athletic events. every week the uindy has something going on whether it would be a movie night, a magician, a band like the plain white tee's, or a stand-up comic. you could also throw some playstation or xbox parties in your lounge areas.
    Food and Dining

    the food here at uindy is excellent. the cafeteria prepares fish, chicken, ham or pork, along with several vegetables every night. the cafeteria has a salad bar and ice cream bar. plus, every friday you can get wings! if your not feeling like the cafeteria you can get subs from the sub-hub, you can satisfy your need for mexican with the fiesta grill, or you can go to the streets grill to get one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches on the planet. if your in a hurry you can go to the grab&go and get some soda or water with a salad, or you can grab some chips and pizza.
    Dorm Life

    what can i say with dorms being renovated every 4 years the dorms are comfortable and cozy. lounges are in every dorm for studying and getting together with your peers. every lounge has a big screen tv allowing you to watch movies with your friends. all dorms have ethernet connection and wifi. if you have problems with anything you can speak to your resident assistant or resident director, who are always there for you.
    Academic Rigor

    the university of indianapolis is a top-tier academic school in indiana. classes are tough, but if you put the time in you will get good grades. make sure you study about 5-10 hours every week for all classes.
    Tips for prospective students

    have fun at uindy. get out and get involved with clubs and intramural sports. if we don't have your sport or club, create it. another tip is to utilize the resources you have here at uindy. you have a top-tier library, use it. you have free printing and 24-hour computer labs. every department, whether it would be accounting or chemistry, has free tutors that are there to really help you.

    the university of indianapolis is one of the best universities to attend in indiana. uindy, as the students call it, is a close knit community with around 5000 undergraduate students. the faculty really cares about the students, and with a of 15:1 student/teacher ratio the faculty is always available for the students.

    students that are focused on studies, several people here on campus want to party, and this isn't that kind of school. there are around 800 people in my year, so it's a fairly small school.

    they have a midnight breakfast for finals, where the staff serves breakfast.
    What to do for fun

    because this is indianapolis there is obviously a lot to do around here. the ra's try to plan some stuff sometimes, but mostly i just hang out with my friends and goof off.

    the food is good, and they have a lot of choices.

    all of my friends and i live in one building and we see each other a ton. the ra's are fun and really nice. lot's to do here.

    some professors are harder than others, but they all want you to do well.

    find out what courses you need to take, talk to staff here and see what classes you could take in high school for college credit or what classes you could take in high school that could help you in your classes here.

    they have tons of fun clubs, and if you don't see a club you are interested in you can create one with just two people.

    dorm rooms are clean and bunks are movable. it has two desks, two beds, and adjustable heating and cooling.

    Psychology club, art club, sports teams from basketball to swimming, fitness center, LP credits, etc and food always seems to be served at the events!

    Because UIndy is a private school it does cost a bit more than going to a state school, but I think it is worth going to a private school because of the smaller class sizes and also the campus is more intimate.
    What to do for fun

    There is a sports dome where multiple sports can be practiced in the evenings. It is also in southern Indy, so the mall is near by along with almost any type of restaurant you can think of. There are also numerous clubs advertised on campus and all students are encouraged to partake in the activities.

    The food is not just cafeteria food, they have several menu items that are there daily, along with food days such as Mexican and Chinese.

    I cannot rate the dorm life because I am currently living off-campus.
    Tips for prospective students

    Always take a tour of the college you plan to attend before you actually get there for your first day. Classes are very important, so it is necessary to attend them. Also, getting involved in extra curricular activities makes college very worth while.

    Never once have I felt unsafe at school. Even if I did, there are call stations located all around the campus that goes directly to the police so they can assist you.
    Greek Life

    No we do not have a Greek Life....which is actually nice. You can focus on what you came to school for and not have to worry about a bunch of people distracting you.

    There are a million things for students to get involved with at school. If you don't find a place to join then you must not be trying hard enough.
    Great for these types of students

    University of Indianapolis is great for everyone; we are very diverse. Currently we have 66 students and staff each from a different country. People can meet people from all over the world.

    Honestly everything is pretty cool to go to on campus. The University is a dry campus which means there is absolutely no alcohol, so don't expect to drink and party.

    University of Indianapolis is pretty pricey, but they are fantastic about finding scholarships for everyone. On average most students that go here receive around $16,000 in financial aid.
    What to do for fun

    Hanging out with friends and going to your dorm events is the best way to meet new people and have fun. Greenwood and downtown Indy is only 10 minutes away from the school so there is always something you can find to enjoy.
    Food and Dining

    The University of Indianapolis is ranked top 25 in the Nation for their food. There is a cafeteria and a couple of other smaller places for if you are on the go.
    Dorm Life

    Living o campus is awesome! All the dorms are well equipped with the things students need. The only thing is that University of Indianapolis can be kind of slow on the weekends, but there are plenty of things to do around the school.

    It's college, it's not going to be a walk in the park. University of Indianapolis is great at working with the students though and there are numerous resources to assist students who need it.

    Don't expect college to be easy; you need to study for every test and be prepared to be challenged academically.

    This university has opportunities for any and all students. This is a very diverse campus.

    This school does cost a bit of money but with scholarships and grants it is more than affordable. Not to mention the experiences and education you get from the school is well worth it.
    What to do for fun

    Not only is there fun activities going on in the dorms but there is also the Schwitzer student center that has pool tables and tv's where people can hang out.

    There are a few different choices on where you can get food at the school. There is lots of different food choices and something delicious for everyone.

    I lived in the dorms my freshman year and had a blast. The RA's were always putting on activities that got everyone involved and having fun.

    The classes are challenging but in the end well worth it because you come out of them actually having learned something.

    What to do for fun

    If you live on campus you will be 5 minuets away from downtown INDY! There is so much to do there. There is the mall, plenty of restaurants, museums, and if you just want to explore you can walk along the canal or see all the monuments and beautiful buildings! Festivals are always happening downtown too!
    Food and Dining

    The food at UIndy is ranked one of the best in the Nation! With so many choices of what to eat, you will never go hungry! The chefs also have a special themed dinner every Tuesday which can be anything from Italian night to medieval food fest! If you are in a hurry We also have to go options, such as a sandwich shop( like subway), taco bar (like chipotle), and a streets which sells american food (chicken tenders, BLT, fries, hamburger)! Also they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner,
    Dorm Life

    LIVE ON CAMPUS!!! Especially your freshman year if you can. You meet so many people and make so many friends! Each dorm competes for points and the winner at the end of the year get $500 to buy stuff for the dorm! Also we have floor events where all the people on your floor get together for a small party and play games or do a fun activity together! Some even go downtown or to the Zoo. Living on campus is a great experience which I think everyone should have once.
    Academic Rigor

    UIndy academics are great. Teachers have high expectations for each student because they want you to do your best. There are always new challenges to be learned and mastered and your teachers are there helping you get through it.
    Tips for prospective students

    Don't be afraid to explore! Go into buildings you don't have class in, because you might one day. Its a great way to learn more about campus and you might find something very useful, like the perfect study spot! Ask questions! as many as you can think of, and ask everybody, that way you will know exactly what is offered and what to do! Go to events! It's a great way to meet new people and discovery new things. UIndy has a lot of multi-cultural events which really bring people out of their shell!

    UIndy has a small, personable campus, with an open, friendly air. There is ample security, and it feels very safe.
    Great for these types of students

    I'd heard great things about their Creative Writing focus, and that influenced my decision for college. So far, everything I've experienced has been in line with that. Writers would do well to attend.
    Bang for the buck

    I'm not going to lie. UIndy is a private university, and private means expensive. But with small class size, attentive instructors, timely assistance, and a friendly campus atmosphere, you definitely get what you pay for.
    What to do for fun

    There are several rec areas and places on campus in which to have fun. In addition, because the campus is in the city, on a sizable road, there is entertainment up and down the road, and along the bus lines. I'm pretty easy to entertain, but it seems like there's something for just about everyone.
    Food and Dining

    I have not, as of yet, eaten at the cafeteria, but I've heard it's pretty good food, at reasonable prices. Their meal plans offer a wide variety of choices, so you will likely find a plan that works for you.
    Dorm Life

    I am living off-campus, but I have heard good things about dorm life. I have heard that the dorms are comfortable, and that the RAs are personable.
    Academic Rigor

    Tough but fair is an aspiration of many institutions. I believe they have largely reached that goal here. My assignments have been relevant to the class, and have been challenging without being impossible.
    Tips for prospective students

    If your high-school circumstances were unconventional, and particularly if they were less than ideal, be willing to explain those circumstances and why the problems that held you back will not be an issue in college. They WILL work with you.

    So far, UIndy has worked well for me. They've been polite, reasonable, capable, and timely, and have helped me through the process of beginning my time in college. The professors have been knowledgeable and have truly wanted to help me along.

    Their is safety everywhere. Campus police are literally a button away. There are buttons all over campus if you ever have anyone come attack you. If you feel like someone is watching you, the police will gladyl escort you to your vehicle or dorm.

    Midnight breakfast - the Monday of finals week we eat a BIG breakfast before the rough week of finals begin. This is just a time to study, chill with friends, or if you are really desperate catch a little shut eye on couches.

    Here there are multiple places that you can study abroad. If it is not on the list of options, go put in a request of your desired location and they will try their hardest to get you there.
    What to do for fun

    This campus has a long list of things to do. It is just fitting it into your schedule. We have AWESOME monthly movies that come along with the option of concession stand and winning fantastic prizes. Everyday there is always a sports event going on. All you have to do is look on your calendar and their is something to do.
    Food and Dining

    There are a variety of food choices at University of Indianapolis. My personal favorites is the university's version of a Subway and the grab n go cart which has pizza, hamburgers, chips, variety of fruit and drinks. It is awesome. Occasionally in the cafe they will have a stand up comedy night during supper. That is a great time to hang out with friends after a long day of school.
    Dorm Life

    Dorm life is really fun. You make a lot of new friends with people you thought you would never have anything in common. The resident hall members plan activities for you to do so you are not always in your room just studying and becoming a hermit. The dorm floor you are located on tends to become your second family.
    Academic Rigor

    Take as much dual credit courses you can handle in high school and what they offer. It makes freshmen year of college easier. With all those general education classes out of the way you get to focus on the classes that really pertain to your degree. If you don't know what you want to do yet they have tests out their to assist you in the right direction.
    Tips for prospective students

    For future students, don't give up on your grades. That is really important. Volunteer as much as you can. Advisors really like to see a well-rounded person. They like to see that you care not only about your education but about the people/ community surrounding you.

    Because this university is so expensive, I recommend applying for any and all scholarships you can. They will only help you pay for the schooling without having to take out so many loans.

    i actually never really feel like it's unsafe, but i think that's because of the people that live around the campus area. low income blue collar folk that don't bother us and we don't bother them. sure there might be a burglary or robbery every now and then, but i lived in peoria before this, and believe me the crime hear pales in comparison.

    like i said, there aren't any interest-based clubs or activities that ever appeal to me. once in a while i'll see a sign that talks about an upcoming event i might consider doing, but usually these events take place during the times i have class. since grad students are only offered night classes, and we get no orientation whatsoever, we really have no way to get out and meet people. lame.
    Great for these types of students

    athletes. ask an undergrad if you're an incoming freshmen or transfer student looking to live in the dorms. oh and live in the dorms. if you don't, you'll likely end up with a roommate that can't speak english. not even kidding here.

    i really don't know if it is or not at this point. it's going to depend on my experiences and skill building later on. if i get a job then i'd say it was worth it. if not, uindy will be receiving some angry emails from me. food is overpriced, parking (at least from what i hear) is a nightmare. no orientation for grad students to speak of. why not?
    What to do for fun

    nothing! i am kept aware of events that take place and none of them interest me. there are no comedians or bands that ever make appearances on campus. there are some organizations/clubs but most of what i found were little more than academic based or charity work that you need a car for (i would consider charity work but i don't have a car). the clubs are mostly student run so you can imagine that the leadership really isn't there. i tried to join the sociology club and the people who complained about it not working last year made themselves presidents and then did nothing! there is no greek life to speak of, and while i never got into the whole greek thing, maybe that's just what this place needs. parties are all just athletes whose houses get busted because uindy claims to be a dry campus. yeah bs. if they want to be dry, then they shouldn't allow freshmen to live off campus. on top of that, they complain about noise and underage drinking! whose fault is that uindy?
    Food and Dining

    awful. if you want to eat healthy, there's a salad bar and grilled chicken on a regular basis. it tastes fine but who wants to eat the same thing every day? the small quick food places like the hound express lack any variety. you can't really get candy or energy drinks anywhere except maybe the overpriced book store. the streets corner has food like most other colleges, consisting of processed and old crap that's been sitting there for far too long. the sandwich place is average i guess, but they always seem like they've run out of something. the perk is an ok place to get coffee, but i'm spoiled and prefer my dunkin donuts/starbucks.

    doesn't apply to me. i am a grad student living off campus. maybe this website meant to include off campus and apartment life in with this option? in that regard i will say a 1. when i arrived not knowing anyone, i was given a list and thrown to the wolves, only to actually get lucky enough to land a place off national street not too far from campus. but like any other college, the students really have to surrender most of their rights and priveleges to the landlords without any school advocation whatsoever. thankfully, my mainttenance guy and landlord aren't too bad though (college crossing)
    Academic Rigor

    i have to say a 3 because it really just depends on your major. my professors teaching the courses that are actually applicable to my line of work (applied sociological research) are decent. they answer questions usually in a timely fashion, and mostly have you doing things that will prepare you for the field and beef up your resume with relevent information. not terribly interested in soc theory and the elective courses as none of it's relevant to me, but i guess the profs gotta get paid somehow right?
    Tips for prospective students

    make sure you know everything before you attend. don't be fooled by what you may hear about the food being good. it's not and the food court is terribly unhealthy with few choices. this school is for athletes and freshmen. if you're an undergrad, you might be able to meet ppl and form groups. if not, you're screwed. don't be surprised if you have to pry everything out of the admissions people and staff about information, since they do an awful job of informing you when you first start attending.

    Campus police are always around, campus is well lit at night, and there are always people around. That being said though, it isn't exactly surrounded by the best neighborhood.
    Bang for the buck

    Tuition is very high compared to the average of all schools, but of course, it is a private school and nothing compared to some tuition rates. To me, though, it just didn't seem I was getting such an extremely high-quality education that it warranted the high price tag.
    Food and Dining

    When you first get to campus, the food seems great. However, meals are quite repetitive and by the end of each year I'm pretty much sick of cafeteria food. There aren't too many healthy options either, although there are certainly more than in past years.
    Dorm Life

    This past year I lived in Central. I much more enjoyed its atmosphere than that of the freshman dorms. It was pretty laid back and great to have a bathroom just for you and your roommate, as well as 24-hour visiting. I guess I'm not an extremely social person though; I wasn't really friends with anyone from my dorm, nor was I a huge fan of the dorm activities.
    Academic Rigor

    I've heard that compared to other colleges we are assigned more work on average per credit hour. In theory it is pretty hard, but I've found in reality that it's all quite manageable and there are always people around to help.
    Tips for prospective students

    Joining clubs you want to join at the beginning of the year is your best bet. People at the university tend to be friendly, but with such a small school clubs and groups of friends form quickly and aren't necessarily as quick to include new people well into the year. And get flexible with when you want to do your laundry; laundry's free so it is ALWAYS busy.

    There is always a campus police officer nearby, and there are blue lights all over campus. Also, if you work late or are at a friends dorm and have to walk back to your dorm alone, you can call campus police and they will give you a ride back with no problem.

    Cravens Hall, the all female dorm on campus has a pillow talk during fall semester every year. This is a time when all the girls come down in their pajamas and bring blankets and pillows and get to ask the school nurse any question they have ever wondered; anonymously.
    What to do for fun

    The university prides itself for every sport and they are all free for students if you have your ID card. It is also a volunteer oriented school, so whether it is people you like helping or animals, or feel like learning about current slavery in the world, there is at least one club that will catch your attention.
    Food and Dining

    The dining hall is not bad, they do tend to serve the same food every weekend but during the week there is a nice variety. The Hound Express is a nice shop where you can pick up a lunch for that day, or some snacks for the rest of the week which is extremely nice to have if you won't be able to make lunch one day.
    Dorm Life

    I love my dorm, personally I live in an all girls dorm so it is a little more difficult to make guy friends, but the girls that I have met and become close friends with on my floor are great. They are the people that you do everything with and just get along great. The Resident Directors are very nice and are always willing to help you when they are in the building; and the Resident Assistants for your floor are there for you as long as they don't have class. The RA's plan tons of cool floor events and when there is a lecture coming up they try making it fun by getting everyone to go and hang out afterwords.
    Academic Rigor

    Depending on the classes that you take the courses will require a lot of time spent on homework and extra studying, even if there isn't a test coming up. The classes that are supposed to be easy, for example your freshman experience class, the teachers make sure you have all that you need, all you need to do is put forth a little effort to get the grade.
    Tips for prospective students

    Don't be afraid to come out of your shell, it is super easy to make friends especially if you are staying in a dorm. Remember that most teachers give you a syllabus for a reason, if you have extra time do not be afraid to get ahead on papers and books. Don't overload yourself, yes school is extremely important, but you do need to have a Friday night movie with friends sometimes.

    A very warm-hearted university with a very small student body. It is a great place to call home, with okay food, friendly professors and advisers, and an incredible amount of activities to choose from. I give this school a great rating for making a Chicago girl feel at home.

    There are essentially unlimited opportunities for clubs and organizations at UIndy. If there isn't something already in place, the staff works well with students to create it. My friends and I just developed a new organizations that we are very excited about. Many options are present.

    I enjoy seeing installation art pieces around campus. The campus center and buildings are pretty to me, but I think the art work gives it a creative edge. And to know students have taken part in those is pretty neat.
    What to do for fun

    Students spend time in the main Student Campus Center and different dorms to play different games like pool and ping-pong. There are also movie boxes close to campus. The main draw to students is the downtown Indy area. There are many close attractions in Indy to visit.
    Food and Dining

    A few different options are available for food and dining at UIndy. Different styles of food are always available, and there is a coffee shop which is nice.
    Dorm Life

    There are several dorms and layout options. Most students have a positive experience living in the dorms and getting to know other students. I only spent my freshman year in the dorm, but I enjoyed it mostly. There are occasional issues that come up, and one needs to learn how to live with and get alone with others, but it is a growing experience.
    Academic Rigor

    The staff at UIndy are mostly well-qualified in their areas and they enjoy teaching students. Different programs are harder than others, but I believe most students are well prepared at UIndy. Particular fields are highly recognized and desired for employment as UIndy grads.

    I encourage prospective students to learn about their intended major and minor areas, reviewing the course requirements, talking with current students, and scheduling an appointment with a profession in the department. Getting to know the program is helpful when comparing to other schools. Do not be afraid to ask too many question, most people are happy to answer questions because they want you to know. Also, challenge yourself to get involved in one of the many organizations offered.

    This is my third year at UIndy and a few of the things I love are the size, community, and classes. My professors know my name and many know about my personal life because they are available and interested; they are great at what they teach as well. I am involved in campus ministry and different student organizations and I love participating in such a friendly community of individuals.

    At the University of Indianapolis campus police & security patrol the campus 24 hours a day. They also provide you with lighted rape whistles. And most importantly, on almost every corner of campus that are poles with alarm buttons on them for the ability to alert/call campus security at any time of the day.

    The huge white dome beside the football field on campus was built for the Superbowl training camps. It has now been turned into an indoor track.

    Although University of Indianapolis is expensive, because it is a private college the classroom size is smaller and you have more one-on-one interaction with your professors. This is a huge advantage and makes it worth the bang for the buck.

    For fun you can hang out with your friends in your dorm or other dorms, attend college sporting events, attend on-campus activities, work out, and hang out with off-campus friends.

    The food at University of Indianapolis is awesome. There is a large variety at every meal and there are small on-campus non-cafeteria dining choices as well. For example, a coffee house and a deli.

    I love dorm life. I have met many new friends and we have several study tables in the downstairs common lobby, which helps with my class work. I would suggest at least living on campus your freshman and sophomore year.

    Taking a rigorous schedule is important in order to excel in your classes and to keep up in college. But, do not take more than you think you can handle. Create a balance that fits your needs.

    Go out of your comfort zone and talk with other students, the student in the dorm room next to you and to the teachers. That's the advantage of a small private school.

    Besides for some of the strict rules that come with any dorm, the RA's do a great job at getting you involved on campus. They are there for whatever you need. They also make sure you build great relationships with everyone in the hall.

    This is a liberal arts college so they challenge you in all aspects of study. The classes are difficult but they have many free tutoring options available and the professors are always there for assistance.

    U of I has campus officers referred to as, Campus Police. Campus Police is extremely helpful and informative on alarming issues that may occur throughout campus. They also frequently patrol the campus and bordering neighborhoods as well.

    U of I is great for all types of students. It's great for students whom aren't easily taught, and for those whom are.

    The school is expensive (it is a private university). It also is one of the best schools I've heard of with granting financial aid.
    What to do for fun

    The campus has almost everything in its dining hall. They have billiards, ping-pong tournaments, movie rentals, and eatery. Typically Dorms will host events where a majority of the dorm members will participate and have fun with their colleagues.

    The campus dining hall offers your choice of either the daily buffet, sub shop, coffee shop, burrito shop, and a burger shop which change their menu throughout the day according to the meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). At each of these shops you can purchase your meal with your meal plan ID card.

    For the most part, parking lots and campus apartments less so. I almost got car jacked on the road behind the school. My car has been both broken into and keyed, so... Dorms feel pretty safe. Campus is well lit.

    If you want a class where the professor cares whether or not you come, this is the place for you. I have had class sizes ranging from 3-27. Never any bigger. I have never felt like just a number. If you want a big school experience or a party school don't look at UIndy. The campus can be fun, but it's not what it's known for. It's a dry campus.

    The university has its own campus police and since i have been here nothing threatening has happened anywhere near campus and its seems to be a really safe place.

    There are a lot of extracurricular activities that go on here, especially intramural sports. But other than that there are several other clubs that students help create all of the time.

    This is an academically prestige university and it is definitely a really good school to attend and the professors definitely know what the are talking about so if you want a really good education i would definitely recommend this schol.

    In one night, I went to a comedy show, did a scavenger hunt, went to a club, and made new friends while watching basketball. If this is anything to show of what campus life is like everyday, this is a very exciting campus.

    There are numerous organizations on campus that put on events for students, so those are an option. It is also centrally located between downtown Indy and Greenwood, so there are a plethora of options for students to go out.

    The food is good and there are a lot of choices, but it repeats a lot. This makes it old after a while, but it is still there and good.

    All of the dorms on campus (especially the upperclass dorms) are very nice. I would definitely recommend them compared to other dorms that I have seen.

    This school has very good academics. I thoroughly enjoy my classes and professors, and I have only had one bad class so far.
