Tuition, Cost & Aid

Affordability and Cost

Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.

Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

Out-of-State Tuition Out-of-state tuition is the tuition charged by institutions to those students who do not meet the state's or institution's residency requirements. Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

What Students Are Saying

You get way more than you pay for when you come to ULM. The classes are much better than people lead on. Every professor I have had so far takes a personal interest in every one of his or her students. The amount of education and personal maturity added together that you will obtain by attending this university is much more than anyone can pay for.
Emily from Hammond, LA
It is definitely a bang for your buck. You get access to everything: activity center, student success center, tutors, etc.
LaBrittany from Junction City, AR
I love free/discounted food! There are plenty of ways to get your fix. Local religious/college chapters will host discounted lunch days to help the student body's pocketbook and to help fund their mission trips! Your money goes to a good cause! Also, right on campus is a Starbucks that will have discounted coffee many days of the semester!
Brittany from Oak Grove, LA
I feel like, for the affordable tuition price, the campus is beautiful and the courses are good. I feel like I'm being prepared for graduate school, and all of my professors really seemed like they wanted to help me get a good education and a prepare me for a job. I just wish the food was a bit better, and maybe a better internet connection in the dorm rooms.
Shelby from West Monroe, LA
They're pricey but worth it. Try and get a scholarship if you can. You get the same level of education as LSU, but with more care of you as an individual and much, much smaller classes.
