Categories Comments Greek Life There's a sorority and fraternity here, neither of which have their own house.
Clubs and Activities Not a whole lot of clubs, there's usually an event taking place about every week or so.
Great for these types of students Nursing and forestry. A bulk of the student population is nursing students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Students from the local area will often think nothing of the generally pretty harsh northern Maine winter.
Bang for the buck The prices of everything is a little high here. Despite the quality education and life here, it costs almost too much (but can't that be said of all colleges in this day and age?)
What to do for fun Fort Kent is right across the river from Canada.
Food and Dining The variety of food is great, and usually so is the cooking. Unfortunately the same can't be said of the portions.
Dorm Life Small dorms, but on a regular basis everything works, and town is within walking distance.
Academic Rigor The coursework is fair enough if you stick to it and don't let it all pile up. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves.
Tips for prospective students Be ready for anything, whether it's exams or snowstorms.
In three sentences Small, but close community. Dedicated and proficient instructors. Great information security program!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is important at any college and at the UMFK it is a very safe town and there are always cops on call for when something happens. At night there is people who transport you if do not feel safe walking back to your dorm.
Clubs and Activities There are more clubs than you can even count for such a little college. Sometimes it is so busy on campus you have to choose what is more important to do. You have to weigh your options all the time.
What to do for fun I go to activities around campus to have fun. I am in TRIO Student Support Services and they have a leadership group that I am in charge of the Game Night every month. This is one thing I do for fun, but there is socialization, dances, and many others.
Food and Dining Food is Dining is not the greatest, however it is extremely convenient when you have a heavy class load and you do not have much time to eat. However, it is hard to cook for a lot of people making the food be unsatisfactory sometimes.
Dorm Life Dorm life is extremely good. I am a resident assistant which helps financially and helps when it comes to studying. I enjoy being on campus because If I need something all I need to do is walk out of my dorm and almost everything is within five minute walk.
Academic Rigor The academics at UMFK are extremely different for nursing students over other majors. We must maintain a C and above in all of our classes and we can only fail two nursing classes then, we are out of the nursing program until we can prove ourselves. Most other majors can pass with D but, nursing is not allowed to be below a C.
Tips for prospective students My tips for nursing students is that if you are not ready to be motivated to work as hard as you can than, nursing is not for you. You are in control of peoples lives and if you can not maintain the best possible attitude in your academics, it will show when you get a job after college.
In three sentences The University of Maine at Fort Kent is a school of great opportunity for nurses planning on working when they get out of school. The education expectations of nursing students is extremely important because, when we go out in the working field it is important that we are great nurses to our patients. This University is getting us prepared for the NCLEX from the very first year.

Clubs and Activities There's a lot of clubs such as: French Club, Medieval Club, Art Club, Student Senate, and so many others.
Great for these types of students The school is good for people who love small towns and love to know and meet a lot of people.
Bang for the buck The college is kinda good for money wise. They help some, but the financial aide usually goes to the athletes.
What to do for fun There isn't much to do everyday. There are a variety of clubs, a fraternity and a sorority, and there are some events on the week-ends. The school is on the Canada border. so a lot of people go to Canada for stuff to do. There are also a lot of outdoor stuff to do. There is a movie theater a couple blocks away, and on Sundays it's $1 for UMFK students.
Food and Dining The food is alright. I'm a picky eater so there are days where I won't eat much because they have food I will not eat. They are good about working around allergies and other food related issues.
Dorm Life Dorm life is fun. You get to meet a lot of new people and new friends. The only thing is that you have to learn to put up with different personalities.
Academic Rigor Some of the classes are difficult, but you always have some one to help with the classes.
Tips for prospective students I would make sure that you're ready to move to a small town and school. Be ready for everyone to know everyone.
In three sentences The University is very welcoming and the people are friendly. The college is on the border of Canada, so there is a lot of crossing the border. The school is very good.
