Around Town

Most students go home for the weekend, but if you have a group of friends to do, then you won't get bored. The campus is close to downtown, and there is always some kind of event going on on the weekends.

Campus life is always bustling with opportunities to have fun. There's always people playing pick-up Frisbee, soccer, and football games in the lawn. Also there's the cinema cheap seats where you can see newly released movie for a dollar! Often, there are concerts, plays, or sporting events to watch as well.

Clubs are a must! Campus activities are fun too. We have cheap seats ($1 movies) on the weekends. Fredericksburg is a cute little town. We are near enough to DC and Richmond that many people go there on the weekends. You find your niche and what you like.

While there is not a large amount of things to do there is a river and downtown within walking distance, and another shopping center that the bus takes you. The school id gets you free bus transportation.

There is always something happening, on or off campus.

When there aren't any on campus events going on, you can head downtown for some shopping or relaxing in any of the antique shops, cafes, or lounges. If more intense shopping is your flavor, you can take the FRED bus (free of charge) and head to Central Park or the Spotsylvania mall.

UMW provides concerts, festivals, and many other opportunities for fun around campus. BINGO night is sure to excite the crowd with the variety of prizes offered and the occasional visit from the UMW President to be the caller.

There are tons of clubs to join here at UMW. Also, we are smack dab in the middle of Fredericksburg, so there are plenty of things to do off campus. There's Historic Downtown with quaint little shops, to Central Park with the latest and most modern shops and malls. There's never a dull moment!
