I think UMW really gives you a big bang for your buck. The students are driven and excited to learn and it creates an awesome environment to learn.

The price tag is high at about $5,000 for full time students, without pricing for possible dorm, books, food, parking pass. Parking can be hectic, plenty of faculty members park in the student areas making it almost impossible to find parking for the students. I have had times where I was looking for parking for about 20-30 minutes because most of the spots were taken up by faculty. But when you park in a faculty lot you get fined. When telling the administration about this situation they do nothing about it because most professors have tenure. You go in to some intro level (100 level) classes and are expected to know what you are doing about the subject within a few weeks.

The cost for UMW is not all that high compared to most colleges and the college provides quite a bit of financial aid if needed. For me, I earned enough financial aid and scholarships that I didn't have to pay for the entire first year of my college.

This college has been consistently rated by publications like Forbes, as a best value college. An undergraduate can obtain a degree here that carries the same prestige and recognition as one from a much more expensive school like VT or W&M without the crushing student debt.

This school is one of the cheapest in the state but you are still getting a great education. The teachers working for the school realize it is a small school so they can't treat classes as simple a lecture with no feedback. They teacher classes interactively which reinforces the material.
