Around Town

The UMD Student Association works extremely hard to put concerts, movies, and other activities together for the student body. Just make sure you're checking your email and looking at the posters. There is also a fire pit close to the dorms that the school set up for any students to use at time. You can also get off campus and explore Duluth. There are plenty of places to shop, try new food, go see a movie or just take a walk and see what's out there.

Endless outdoor activities, constant activities within in the school, and many awesome places in the town of Duluth.

It's Duluth. Come on. Go hang out in Canal Park, check out that big blue thing called Lake Superior, or go to a Bulldogs hockey, football, or any other sports game! The school spirit here is insane! It'll only take you a few short weeks to realize all the options you have for fun!

I am a part of UMDs Vocal Jazz ensamble, I take one on one guitar lessons on campus, I am the president of the Spanish Club, I am a member of the Thai Chi Club, and on the weekend I visit the very fun bar scene.

There are endless things for fun! The school and community provide many things to do at all times.

There's a Frisbee golf course on campus that is fun to do when it's not freezing out and you can rent frisbees and volleyballs and basketballs in the fall and spring when its warm otherwise campus gets a little boring in the winter so going to Canal Park to explore or eat or shopping in Herman-town is about as fun as it gets. Otherwise staying on campus and hanging with friends and watching movies. (And if you like to parties apparently there's a ton every weekend but that's not my thing.)

The only thing you can do without emptying your wallet is to go hiking or something of the sort.

As I mentioned before, there are a lot of activities put on by student groups. Every few weekends they'll play a movie in the lecture halls, complete with popcorn and pop! Sporting events are really popular at UMD as well, my personal favorite is the men's hockey games.

UMD has a very nice fitness center with a rock climbing wall. There is also a pool, ice rink, a frisbee golf course, and other things to do. There are often movies playing on the projectors of classrooms in the evenings. Duluth itself has a lot of fun things to do too; swimming, lasertag, hiking, fishing, hunting, paintball, et cetera.
