Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very well protected. Students taking a night class who have to walk to their car in the dark have the option of asking for an escort to keep them safe. The school also has a policy of checking up on students who appear to have dropped out of class mysteriously and may be in trouble.
Greek Life Phi Theta Kappa is an active society at UM-Helena
Clubs and Activities The school has a Christian club, an Associated Students club, as well as numerous study groups.
Great for these types of students Great for students who want to complete their generals before studying for a bachelor degree at a higher priced institution. Also a great school for students who are working or have children. The school is very accommodating.
Bang for the buck For the quality education provided at UM-Helena, there is no institution with better priced tuition. The affordability of the school is one of its biggest draws for new and returning students.
What to do for fun The school offers various activities throughout the year including a free campus barbeque, a Christmas party, and various treats provided for smaller holidays such as pi day, national chemistry month, and mental health awareness day.
Food and Dining There is a fast food counter immediately outside of the student center. Their food is pretty tasty, though not very healthy. The school also recently installed a Batista counter inside the main entrance which is especially wonderful during the colder months.
Dorm Life Unfortunately, UM-Helena is not a large enough school to require dorm rooms.
Academic Rigor The academics at UM-Helena are challenging yet flexible. The school has introduced a number of online classes and night classes to help students fit school in with their busy schedules. The professors are often demanding of quality work and they encourage their students to submit the best work they can.
Tips for prospective students Don't be discouraged by the sometimes confusing admissions process. As soon as that's finished you're golden. Also, don't expect the classes to be easy just because UM-Helena is a community college. The professors expect their students to be committed learners while in their classroom.
In three sentences UM-Helena is a quality school with excellent professors who take a genuine interest in their students. Class schedules are flexible and available at all times of the day for working students. UM-Helena provides excellent opportunities for kids to finish high school while beginning their college careers.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is great for any type of student, whether that be the average student trying to get their generals or a non-traditional student trying to finish or earn a degree
Bang for the buck I currently go to this school to finish my general education before moving on to a bigger university and I feel that this school offers the same, if not more than what the average university would give me for a much cheaper price.
What to do for fun This school doesn't have many extra curricular activities sense it it smaller than most colleges.
Food and Dining This school has an option of breakfast and lunch, plus vending machines for snacks and drinks. Their food is very delicious and I really appreciate they are willing to make hot lunches, they really helped me when I went in early.
Dorm Life The Helena College of Technology does not have a dorm for it.
Academic Rigor This school definitely holds it's students to a high standard. I can tell the teachers want everyone to succeed, but makes the students earn it. They make you earn your grade.
Tips for prospective students Anyone wanted to attend this school should feel at ease. I was nervous for my first year of college and this school made it so easy to transfer over from high school.
In three sentences I absolutely love this school. It's helped me start my road to college and given me a chance at a higher education. I feel extremely fortunate to have this opportunity.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Smaller school and not a big community, therefore this school is very friendly and feels very safe.
Clubs and Activities There are a couple different clubs.
Great for these types of students This college would be ideal for a student that has been out of school for a little while and wants to get back into the studying habit before taking on a full university that is more demanding.
Bang for the buck The cost of attendence for this school is very reasonable...it can be compared to a community school and not a full university.
What to do for fun The school does have a couple different groups you can join, but the surrounding area has many possibilities from hiking, biking, camping, fishing, skiing, and many other outdoors activities. During the winter there is a symphony that plays about once a month and there are other fine art places that do things as well.
Food and Dining There is a cafe that sells food but closes at 2pm. There also is a coffee stand in main hall of school that is usually open till 5pm.
Dorm Life No dorms for this school.
Academic Rigor Depending on your courses and course load, it can be ok or not to challenging but still challenging enough, but not like a full university.
Tips for prospective students Get involved with other students and don't be affraid to ask for help.
In three sentences It is a small school which allows for more one-on-one time with teachers if needed and the teachers are more than willing to help or if they can't, they will point you in the right direction. The small size helps you to focus more on your studies and creating study groups. For a small school, it does quite a few different programs to help you through in many areas.

Academic Rigor They place you in classes you can handle to start with and then encourage you and help you do better. They provide a variety of tutors at all times to help you improve.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students For students that need their generals or want to save money.
What to do for fun The art classes they provide can be considered as fun as it gets.
Food and Dining The food they serve students is either greasy or comes out of a vending machine. Not the healthiest nor do I like to eat it.
Dorm Life They do not have dorm life.
Academic Rigor The academic prospective of Tech College is, well, not the best.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to basically teach yourself out of the book.
In three sentences The school would be great for a starter school. I would not recommend if either enjoy school or actually want to learn something. Teachers are the best unless you get English with Steve Lewis.
