Great for these types of students

UNO is great for students looking for a small, student focused community while attending college.

    Tips for prospective students

If a first year student I suggest on-campus living as it offers an amazing atmosphere and a chance to meet new friends. I also suggest picking one advisor to deal with in you college as it can be often confusing dealing with many.

    Bang for the buck

All colleges are expensive, so UNO's tuition is par for the course. However UNO does a great job of compensating qualified out-of-state students with substantial scholarships.

    Am enjoying being here

I have returned for a second year at UNO because I love the small campus atmosphere. And the central Omaha location makes the campus convenient for on and off campus living.

    Am learning a lot

The professors at UNO are exceptional and all those I have had are extremely knowledgeable in their fields. Also the course offerings are extremely diverse giving me a lot of new knowledge.

Great for these types of students

UNO is great for students who want a closed campus feel while still being in the middle of a metropolitan city. As long as you are willing to take advantage of all that UNO offers, you will succeed and enjoy your college experience here.

    Tips for prospective students

If you aren't from Omaha, schedule a campus visit! During required orientation you will get a tour of the campus and an overview of the school, but if you are debating between schools, take the time to visit. Also, keep in touch with older students so they can show you tips on simple things from buying cheap books, building a good schedule, and having an successful first semester. Most importantly, get involved!! Even if you don't live on campus, join an organization so you make the most of college.

    Bang for the buck

Of course every school's tuition is expensive, but as long as you fill out the FAFSA or put some effort into scholarship searches, you will find financial aid. As for UNO compensating for the prices, they certainly offer many amenities outside of class for tuition. There's HPER for working out, an extensive library, and great student center right on campus for all students to take advantage of.

    Am enjoying being here

Even though I am not living on campus, I made sure to get involved in organizations to meet new people. The campus is beautiful and very easy to get around on. I have met new people in all of my classes and enjoy the overall camaraderie on campus. I love the feel of UNO.

    Am learning a lot

I just completed my first semester and I sincerely learned something new and interesting in each of my classes. All of my professors were incredibly knowledgeable in their respective areas of study. Just by attending class I really learned a lot about each subject.

Great for these types of students

UNO is great for students who love being in a big city. Most students here commute, so there it's great for those who want to have a little more freedom by living in their own house or apartment.

    Tips for prospective students

I would advise prospective students to apply for on campus housing. It's a great way to meet people. Also, I would say that if you want to graduate in four years, you should take more than 12 credit hours per semester. In addition, it would be a good idea to take summer classes.

    Bang for the buck

I feel that being here is definately worth the money. The campus is great and the money paid for tuition and housing goes towards making the college experience more memorable.

    Am enjoying being here

It's awesome here! I live on campus, so it is very easy to make it to classes on time. I can get anywhere in about 10 minutes. The dorms are wonderful. I love the apartment-style and having my own room and kitchen. I also really like the HPER center. It's a great place to work out.

    Am learning a lot

I love all of my classes. The professors are really detailed in their explanations of the material. I feel very comfortable asking questions because I know they will be answered as accurately as possible.

    Campus Safety

Is awesome! You can go onto the UNO website and see our security reports. Compared to some campus, we get an A+!

    Greek Life

I know that there are several Greek organizations on campus, but have not been able to partake, because I work the evenings during pledge week and am not always able to make it.

    Clubs and Activities

There is a club or activity for virtually any hobby or habit, fraternities, sororities, religious clubs, LGBT clubs & the office of MultiCultural affairs. We have the Seven Days of Service, during Spring Break, which is a community service event, which is wonderful and gets UNO students out into the Omaha community.

Great for these types of students

We have an award winning Science Center, many renowned artists have come out of UNO. We have speakers from all over the world come speak at UNO regarding a variety of different subjects. Many people have life changing experiences listening to the speakers or join the Army Corp or Peacekeeper missions because of it.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are no unusual traditions that I know of, but with over 12,000+ students, I can't know everything or be everywhere....right!

    Bang for the buck

I like the Mavcard program, it's our student id card and you can preload it with cash to make purchases on campus! Everytime you do use it on campus, you can get an additional 5% off your purchases. Plus, there is a website, where your parents can add money onto your card at anytime!!!

    What to do for fun

The Midnight Mojo activities are the bomb diggity! The host free movies, pool parties, tailgates for the games, free food! The fraternities and sororities host get togethers and campus wide events! There is something to do each and every month, you will never get bored and you will see different parts of the city!

    Food and Dining

The Student Union has an eclectic grouping of restaurants! Every time I go up there, I find something that I just know wasn't there before! If your vegan, a meat lover, love cuisines from all over the world, this is your place....oh made to order specials, too!

    Dorm Life

I don't live on campus, but my friends that do, love it. The dorm's are not even 5 years old...they are more like apartments with a living room, kitchen, basic cable and Internet services, all provided. It's a very well lit area and campus security is always ready and available to escort you wherever you need to go!

    Academic Rigor

The classes are wonderful; challenging and the teachers won't hold your hand but if your having trouble all you need to do is ask. On campus, there are centers and tutors available for just about any and all subjects. And, if you can't find a tutor go to you student advisor and they will find you a tutor free of charge!

    Tips for prospective students

It's o.k., if you don't know what you want to be when you grow up...that's o.k.! You will find your niche within your first year. There are people from the President down to the Student Affairs office who have wonderful open door policies, so don't be afraid

    In three sentences

This school is constantly changing and evolving. The student body is involved in the community and the promotion of everyone succeeding. This school is one of the best in the tri-state area, even if the football program has been cut....hey, we will are still part of the Husker Nation....GO HUSKERS!

    Bang for the buck

I am enrolled for 17 credit hours and it's reasonably priced. I am an in-state student and didn't get many scholarships, but I believe many students do recieve them!!

    Am enjoying being here

I got to be on campus a week before classes started and everyone here has been more than welcoming, friendly, and ready to answer any question I have! I feel like I am at home on this campus.

    Am learning a lot

All of my professors are prepared for the semester, making sure everyone has their books and class materials! They have their course work all planned out perfectly. I know all that I will be learning this semester, and then some, I'm sure!

Great for these types of students

Any student would be happy here. People who are energetic, ready to try new things, those who have a positive attitude about school, sports fans, theatrical students, pre-med and pre-dental students, those who are just getting started, whether you are 18 or 38, you will fit right in. Anyone who is anyone has a great chance of finding a certain typ of solace here at UNO.

    Tips for prospective students

Always get involved soon!!! That is the one thing I can tell you, whether it is by joining a fraternity or sorority or going to a weekly meeting with a club, it just allows you to have the chance to meet new people, and possibly make connections with those that can be very beneficial later in life. It also promotes leadership, so if you are a shy person, by putting yourself out there, you are giving yourself the chance to influence others, which is a great felling, trust me on that. It also creates long-lasting friendships.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is the best by far from the colleges that I looked at. There are a couple of things that are a little expensive. The room and board costs a lot, which can hurt your wallet. Also, the books are overly price (but where are they not?) The food is a bit over priced, but manageable. Overall, it's one of the less expensive colleges out there

    Am enjoying being here

The campus itself is absolutely beautiful, and the university is small enough that you don't feel like you are being smothered, which is a great feeling. Many updates are currently going on to revive the campus, and there are many things to come. There are hundreds, if not thousands of different groups and clubs you can join, on top of all of the sports and extracurricular activities there already are. You feel welcome there.

    Am learning a lot

All of the professors at UNO are hard-working, determined people. They are set out to help you in any way possible. Granted, there are a few professors without this attitude, but most are willing to take time out other their lives to help you achieve the best possible. The curricula here is very in-depth, so studying is a must, but there are many places that will help you.

    Campus Safety

It has been a goal of UNO to make sure the safety of the students on campus are secure and intact. There are poles mounted everywhere in which if a student were being attacked, or chased they can push this button and immediately campus security and local police are informed and on the spot. They are friendly and make life on campus feel more secure and safe for everyone.

    Greek Life

Always fun, always inviting, always easy to get into, but not to dangerous and threatening.

    Clubs and Activities

All of the clubs at UNO have some sort of impact, or have been talked about amongst the students. It seems as if, if you have an interest in something, there is a club for it that has a good size and good-minded people. If there isn't a club for whatever you like, which would be strange, then you can surely start on easily and undoubtedly it would get range and strength in no time.

Great for these types of students

Any students are a fit for this college, just because of how different and diverse it is.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

It is right next to the Elmwood park where a lot of different clubs, like quittage and larping, go to practice their skills. Memorial park is across the street and is a hotspot for free concerts, which Omaha itself has a lot of.

    Bang for the buck

Tuition is always a burden, however if you go to class, take part in clubs and the seemingly weekly free events that UNO offers, and make use of the amazing HYPR building, it is completely worth the money.

    What to do for fun

UNO has a lot to do for fun, it only matters what you think is fun. At the new and stunning HYPR Building they have: an inside/upper-level track, a rock climbing area, a spa, an Olympic size pool, workout station, basket-ball courts, and other courts and areas for classes like, ballet, yoga, zumba, etc. They have a multicultural hour every week where people from all over the world come together to play a game, like baseball or soccer, or to have a conversation and culture themselves. UNO has many sororities, and fraternities, clubs like the equestrian club, tennis club, quittage club, larping club, equality club, Christian clubs, Muslim clubs, etc. There is also always something going on with the college, for example the other week they had a local theme park give free admissions to students with their I.D. card from 9:00 until 12:00 in the evening.

    Food and Dining

The food is very good, always fresh and made everyday, and it's always available at the Student Center along with a convenience store. The only issue is that it is a little over priced, so one should only eat there if they only have a little bit of time, otherwise they could go to the mall down the street, or take the shuttle bus to Scott Court and walk to Aksarben Village for some food.

    Dorm Life

They have three dorm facilities and each one is very nice. University Village is the cheapest, and smallest of them all, however it still holds a very pleasant charm and gives a real persona of what an outside apartment would be like; it also sits a few steps away from the main University. Scott Court/Village is a ways away from the facility, however they have a shuttle that runs all day back and forth; the life there is better than University Village in the since that there is more room and a little better quality of the rooms and living spaces. Maverick Village is the more expensive, but better of the three, however it makes up by being close to the University, having its own parking garage, and having the largest amount of space, beautiful kitchen and living area, and wonderful warm rooms with a patio or a terrace.

    Academic Rigor

The professors always are willing to aid in anything a student needs, even if they personally cannot help they will find someone who is able. There are also many clubs and groups that not only do things for fun and sport, but to educate and give culture for those who seek more education.

    Tips for prospective students

Ask other students, preferably upperclassmen, for advice on what classes to take, and especially the professors of the basic classes because the advisers are not always sure what they are saying, and don't always give the best advice.

    In three sentences

Wonderful, compassionate, inspirational, and hard-working professors create an atmosphere that transcends the before-thought of what college was suppose to be like, and creates a place that you enjoy to better yourself instead of a societal ritual that we must all pass. The mathematical system needs improvement and the advisers need more education and experience, however those are the only negatives and can be surpassed if one looks and talks around with other classmates, who are always willing to aid one another. Lastly, one's tuition can obviously be seen in use by the amazing buildings that have been erected; from technologically advanced science laboratories to amazingly stunning work-out facility with an indoor/above-ground track and rock climbing area, this college can give anyone the ability to reach their lives' dream with a little bit of hard-work and determination.

    Campus Safety

    Campus safety is pretty good!

    Greek Life

    Greek life is so-so.

    Clubs and Activities

UNO has a variety of clubs and student organizations. If UNO does not have a club or org. you are looking for all you need is you and three other people and you can create any club you are interested in!

Great for these types of students

UNO is great for students who want to go to a well accredited school, that is not super hard to succeed, but at the same time challenging.

    What to do for fun

There is not a whole lot to do for fun in Omaha. There are barely no clubs or parties for people under 21 unless you take the 45minute commute to Lincoln. If you like baseball the college world series plays here so that is pretty exciting. Plus UNO has plenty of stuff to do.

    Food and Dining

There are many places around campus to catch a bite to eat, especially on 72nd st and Center st.

    Dorm Life

I myself do not stay on dorms, but a lot of my friends do. Dorm life is pretty dull, but the dorms are exceptionally nice and well kept.

    Academic Rigor

The academics at UNO is pretty challenging depending on what teacher you have and what course you are taking. I like it, because it is not to hard and yet not to easy.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are interested in attending UNO and have a car, GET A PARKING PASS! It is extremely hard to find parking without one unless you park at Crossroads mall and take the shuttle to UNO.

    In three sentences

UNO is usually overlooked by Omaha natives, and I must admit I was once one of those who did not want to attend this school. After attending UNO for a full year now, I have to say it is a great school. The teachers are always willing to help, the atmosphere is great, and the people that work their are always really nice and helpful.

    Campus Safety

Although UNO is located in a big city where a lot can happy, campus security is always on the go! There are many security sites located around campus, and they are always checking to make sure all of the dorms are safe. Campus security works hard in order to keep us safe, and if we ever need anything, they show up right away! I never feel worried on UNO's campus!

    What to do for fun

The University of Nebraska at Omaha is located in the heart of Omaha. Whether it be shopping, dining at nice restaurants, or taking a stroll through historic downtown Omaha, UNO is located in a great place! There are many on-campus activities that can help you get involved and HPER, our newly renovated gym, is a great facility to use to stay active.

    Food and Dining

Living in the dorms has provided me with the opportunity to learn how to cook for myself as well as budget my money when grocery shopping. The Milo Bail Student Center also provides a way to purchase food and the food is spectacular! I also love the fact that UNO houses 2 Starbucks on campus- one in the Student Center and in the library! UNO's campus is also close to many restaurants where we can enjoy and dine with friends!

    Dorm Life

Coming from a small town to a big city, I began in University Village and now live in Maverick Village. Both Villages include 4 seperate bedrooms, 2 baths, as well as a kitchen and a living room. I really enjoy the fact of having my own room. Living in the dorms feels like you're really off in your own apartment, yet you're still right on campus. It's a great way to enjoy your college experience.

    Academic Rigor

UNO is equipped with 200 programs of study and is home to a diverse population. Student to Faculty ratio at the University is 19:1, meaning that the staff is here to help you. Be prepared to work hard in order to achieve your goals, but as long as you take advantage of the many opportunites of resources, you will be just fine.

    Tips for prospective students

For upcoming students, I encourage the living on campus experience. UNO is a communter school, meaning that a lot of the students live off campus, but I feel like I've had a better experience meeting new people and participating more with on-campus activities. Also, don't be afraid to use the library resources, the math lab, as well as the speech and writing center. They are here to help and they have assisted me with many projects!

    In three sentences

The University of Nebraska at Omaha is a great college to attend in Nebraska. Right in the heart of the big O, UNO has a wide variety of opportunites around every corner. Whether it be campus involvement, studying in the library, or going out for a night in downtown Omaha, UNO is the college where you can be yourself and make a difference.

    Campus Safety

I do feel very safe on campus. Even though it is in the center of the city, there are multiple precautions taken to ensure student safety.

    Bang for the buck

UNO is extremely great tuition prices, I am always amazed at my tuition bill!

    What to do for fun

Omaha is a wonderful city and offers a lot of fun options, it is truly a matter of what you put into it will determine what you get out of it! Explore and do new things that you wouldn't!

    Food and Dining

The dining area is great and offers a variety of different fast food restaurants however it is not the typical cafeteria approach. There is great variety though and lots of seating to mingle.

    Dorm Life

I honestly can't provide a good opinion on this aspect, because I am a graduate student and live off campus; however, if you are a underclassmen I would encourage living in the dorms!

    Academic Rigor

I love my program and feel that it is truly helping prepare me for my future. I feel challenged and as if what I am learning is really applicable to what I may encounter in the work force.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are an incoming freshman ensure that you live in the dorms and get involved! Making connections with fellow classmates and establishing close friendships is what can make or break our college career. Get involved it looks great on Resume and opens the door to meet people you would have never had the chance to meet before.

    In three sentences

I love my current Masters program at UNO and feel that I have learned a tremendous amount of information and have had the opportunity to establish wonderful relationships with fellow students and professors. The SLP program helps students establish strong relationships with the community and help make connections for the future. The school in itself is very well kept and there is an array of activities to keep students engaged.

Great for these types of students

This school is good for those students who want to just sit back and be part of the crowd or those that want to be very active and get involved with a lot of different things.

    Tips for prospective students

I would try and iron out exactly what you want to do and where you want to live and get it in early since there are no specific freshmen dorms so you can live in the better apartments if you get in early.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is pretty low for the school and the quality. In addition you can choose to do a 12 month rent on the on campus living so that you are able to live there all year round.

    Am enjoying being here

I live off campus and still enjoy this school a lot. They have lots of chances to get involved. In addition they have been renovating each of their buildings and everything is top of the line.

    Am learning a lot

The ,teachers are great. Many of my professors in the Criminal Justice Department are doctors and top in their field. I have also found the Aviation Department professors to be fantastic.

Great for these types of students

Students who want reasonably small classes and friendly professors, a great campus, a fantastic recreation center (newly redone), lots of involvement opportunities, and great transportation for those who live off campus or on the south campus. Several other reasons too!

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved. Otherwise, it is rather hard to meet people if you don't know anyone.

    Bang for the buck

The classes are fantastic, and the professors are always here for the student when they need help. They provide a wonderful education for us. I've learned a ton. I'm here on scholarship so I'm not sure how hard it is to pay tuition firsthand, but I do know that a large amount of students here are on scholarship. They have a ton, and they're reasonably obtainable.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is beautiful, and everyone's friendly. Omaha is wonderful and there's so much to do, on campus and off. There are activities for students almost every weekend and during the week, and there are several ways to get involved and meet people if you are willing to join a club or a sorority/fraternity. I've had a great experience here so far!

Great for these types of students

Outgoing, and looking for a tight-knit community. UNO is small, but it's good to get to know people, and a good education.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't let procrastination get the best of you. Otherwise, you'll have a rude awakening. Use the student help centers, they really help when you have a teacher who isn't very good.

    Bang for the buck

College is expensive. For most of my classes, I feel like I'm getting the education I deserve. UNO compared to other universities, is cheap.

    Am enjoying being here

In college, meeting new people is always a highlight. Everyone is nice, and willing to help new people around.

    Am learning a lot

Most teachers are willing to help you. Then there are some that aren't helpful, or make you feel like you shouldn't ask questions.

well you'll live in omaha. there's aksarben village with restaurants and a movie theatre, there's 3 malls in omaha. a bowling alley right down dodge from uno campus. as well as the on campus events like midnight mojo once a month, which is free buy the way. also there's intramural sports going on all the time at hper, the new fitness facility, also free to uno students where they have two weight rooms, basketball/volleyball courts, and a swimming pool. you can't ever really be bored here!

    Food and Dining

well i can't lie, since every dorm has a full kitchen the food courts aren't the best, and they can get pricey, but if you live in the scott campus area the scott food court is amazing. all you can eat buffet, but make sure you get the meal plan, it'll save you tons!

    Dorm Life

dorms here are probably the best i've seen and i went on a lot of campus tours. no matter which one you choose, you're going to have your own room and only share a bathroom with two people. and you'll have a full kitchen, all for less than you'll pay at a private school. i can't complain.

    Academic Rigor

i learn so much here and haven't had a single bad professor! you have a lot more work to do on your own compared to high school, but you get used to it all. go to every class and really try to get to know your instructors, even if it's in a 100 person lecture hall, asking questions even if you know the answer is the best way to get to know the teachers. they'll remember your face when you're asking them to bump you from a b to and a!

    Tips for prospective students

really try living on campus your first year especially! you meet so many more people. also, at least look into the greek system, it's not what you may think it is, you won't just be paying for friends, it's worth it! get involved right away and stay busy, college is supposed to be fun and it goes by fast for people because if you have fun it's because you're involved, so join some clubs/organizations!

    In three sentences

there's so much do do around campus it's hard not to have fun here. living here is so much fun and the classes are sometimes the fun part! so many resources and nice people, i love it here!

    Campus Safety

parking is awful so people are forced to park down a ways in the park which is not safe at night. there is also a parking garage a ways off campus but buses running to there stop at only 6:00 at night! walking all the way over there is not safe either! the only redeeming quality is that the campus provides security if you contact them and they will escort you to your car. still, considering how many night classes the campus offers the safety is a big issue.

    Clubs and Activities

the numbers of clubs and activities is endless. there is absolutely something for everyone.

Great for these types of students

if you are a sports fanatic, this is your place. if you place more emphasis on fraternities/sororities and other extracurricular activities then this is also a good place. education-wise the campus is good but if you want top of the line education and less of a community this is not the place to be.

    Bang for the buck

the ranking of the school is not spectacular and the tuition is reasonable. but it's really the outrageous amounts and size of the fees that they slip into tuition costs. they have fees for things that one can't even understand what they're used for. so while tuition is really reasonable the absurd fees are not. thankfully they have such a fantastic philosophy and religious studies department that (almost) every penny is worth staying.

    What to do for fun

football is hugely popular. it's not my cup of tea but if it's someone else's then this is where one wants to spend their weekends. there are parties and tons of events leading up to every game. outside of football and sports the campus has midnight mojo which is a safe, alcohol-free party hosted every once in a while. it's a way to get out and hang with people who share your values.

    Food and Dining

the cafe in the library is pretty good; their coffee is starbucks and really worth it for late night studying. the cafeteria in the student center has at least five ethnic foods to choose from and you get a lot of bang for your buck. plus, during lunch hour, the place smells amazing. aromatherapy at its finest.

    Dorm Life

i've never been in the dorms but i've heard it's not a fun place to be; too rowdy and lots of people who don't like one another end up together. plus, it's pretty expensive all things considered.

    Academic Rigor

the entry level classes are a piece of cake but beware of online! some of them can be a lot of work but considering you're doing them from the comfort of your own home they're still a-okay! the upper-level classes are truly remarkable; you get your money's worth in time and knowledge gained!

    Tips for prospective students

don't get caught up in the sports and the parties. the education is really the best part of this campus. also, do lots of research on prospect instructors; it will be the most valuable time you'll ever spend. use the library to your advantage...even with the advent of the internet the amounts of knowledge and legitimacy of a good old paperback book is unparalleled.

    In three sentences

some of the most amazing philosophy instructors in the country! plus, their library is one of the best i've seen. third, they put tons of emphasis on extracurricular and academic societies that make it a personable campus.

Great for these types of students

Christians, seem to be a few bible groups. Support groups for AA and NA are on campus which is nice. Lots of groups in other areas available.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    Bang for the buck

I don't have any comparisons to make.

    What to do for fun

There are always activities on and off campus.

    Food and Dining

Have a good variety of food on campus, and enough fast food places close by to satisfy anyone.

    Tips for prospective students

Take advantage of the fafsa whenever possible. Know that you can only get funding for 188 credit hours, so plan accordingly.

    In three sentences

UNOmaha, is a good school. The teachers are good but aging in the biology department. The environmental field teachers are not being replaced, which is leaving an unfortunate gap in the biology/environmental department.

Great for these types of students

Don't mind load campuses, really crowded classes, and harsh grading.

    Bang for the buck

There isn't much financial aid besides loans and expect 500-1000 dollars in fees in addition to tuition.

    What to do for fun

There's a lot around Omaha, and the gym on campus is nice.

    Food and Dining

There aren't many options for food, and the food is not particularly delicious. Bring your own lunch.

    Dorm Life

I have not lived in the dorms here.

    Academic Rigor

Some of the basic 1000 level classes are extremely difficult for absolutely no reason. If you ask the reason it's because most students taking that class could apply for medical school.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are good at learning on your own, this is the place for you. Look at the specific programs and their requirements ahead of time. Volunteer in the job you'd like to do before deciding on a major/career choice.

    In three sentences

Does not offer that many classes, requires a lot of extra classes unrelated to your major, some departments only have large classes without individual attention.

There are sooo many clubs and organizations to get involved with at UNO. I'm loving working out at the gym here and getting involved with the Environmental Club here on campus.

    Food and Dining

The food here is remarkable and there are so many choices. I put a lot of emphasis on eating healthy foods and I never have a problem finding healthy meal solutions at UNO.

    Dorm Life

I live in a house off campus but a couple of my friends live in campus housing and love it!!

    Academic Rigor

I am learning so much more at the University of Nebraska at Omaha than I could ever have imagined. The teachers really take time to make sure every student understands what they are teaching. The campus is larger than the community college environment I am used to but I don't feel like a number. I feel like my presence here at UNO is valued and that I am important to the faculty and staff working here.

    Tips for prospective students

Tour the campus before you start classes to become familiar with your surroundings. It's not the largest campus in the country but it's good to know where the rental bicycles and parking is located. Everyone is so friendly on campus to so don't be afraid to ask for help if you ever need it. Like every campus page on facebook to stay on top of current news and events going on. Also, have the campus security phone number programmed into your phone just incase.

    In three sentences

Omaha is a beautiful campus dedicated to higher learning. They are dedicated to protecting the planet by providing bus shuttles and rentable bicycles to their students. The teachers go above and beyond what is expected of them and make a large campus feel like home to a small town girl like me.

    Campus Safety

Campus Security is always around for anyone in need of having help with a jump to their car, or a flat tire. I have heard nothing but good things about this department!

    Greek Life

No idea about other languages, but I will probably learn about them soon, do to the fact that one of my teacher education endorsements at the moment is English as a Second Language.

    Clubs and Activities

I know that there is student government, and I have heard of countless sororities and extracurricular activities for anyone on campus to enjoy. I was particularly interested in the horseback riding.

Great for these types of students

The music department looks out of this world! For anyone who wants to perform, this school is ideal for you!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I am unaware of the traditions, because I am a new student. I do know that there is a bell in the middle of campus that has a neat design in the concrete right under the bell. Students have a superstition that if you step in a certain place, you will fail the next test you take.

    Bang for the buck

Rent your books! Do not waste your time buying and selling, because what you get in return when you buy exceed the low cost that rentals are. I use chegg.com and I must say they have the best customer service of anyone! This school has so many resources that you are getting bang for your buck!

    What to do for fun

I saw an amazing gym to explore that was nicer then any I've ever seen. There was an outdoor facility that I might look into that seemed like fun. When I went to orientation, the guides told us of all the free sporting events we could go to.

    Food and Dining

My food and dining experience has only been once, but I was not impressed. The food court was like you would see at the mall, but when I went there, many of the food stands had not opened yet, and what was opened was worse then fast food. I will for future reference always bring my own lunch and warm it in the microwaves that we as students are allowed to use for free!

    Dorm Life

I live at home, therefore, I do not know much about the dorms at this college, but I do know that the rent prices were outrageous! I did a little research behind this issue and found that if I wanted to move out and get an apartment with a roommate, I could save myself a lot of cash that I don't have to spend. However, viewing these dorms parents can be assured that they are the nicest I have ever visited compared to competing colleges.

    Academic Rigor

The academic achievement at The University of Nebraska at Omaha is high. I know coming from a smaller community college that the expectation level will be much higher. Professors will be less available to help due to the larger class sizes, although I cannot say I am completely sure about that.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that you always do your best to stay ahead of deadlines. If you stay on top of your specific personal issues, it will make you life much simpler! Have an idea of what you want ahead of time so that an adviser will be able to gear you towards the classes that are most appropriate for you.

    In three sentences

The University of Nebraska at Omaha is a school with countless resources and options. However, the problems with having those many resources is the parking issues and the culture shock that one can experience. Overall, I believe the faculty wants the students to succeed, but it can be difficult with the school that size.

    Food and Dining

There is food to satisfy every palate and every budget available. There are healthy options, such as a salad bar, available too.

    Dorm Life

The dorm rooms are apartment style and were renovated a few years ago.

    Academic Rigor

UNO has a variety of classes for everyone that stimulates your mind in ways that are different from what you may be used to.

    Tips for prospective students

Parking can be difficult so be sure to allow time for parking. Keep up on the homework and do not skip class because most teachers will not offer additional help unless you seek it from them.

    In three sentences

Most classes are small enough that you can get to know your professor and they can get to know you. Classes are also big enough that you can still get the stereotypical college atmosphere most people desire. The clubs are excellent and numerous, so there is something for everyone.

Safety poles in front of every single building. Campus security 24 hours, any problems, click the blue button and wait, security should be there quickly. Now if something happens, it is usually the victims fault for not finding help.

    Clubs and Activities

Many clubs and activities. I wish I wasn't as busy, but watch out for the 'christians.' Unless you consider yourself a religious person, and attend a lot, you won't get calls.

Great for these types of students

Urbanization takes control here. Come have fun and meet the people here. Nebraska in general is conservative, so if you are from a big, and I mean big city, you will be looked at weirdly, only people who see you often will consider you normal.

Orientation week is crazy, so if you get stuck in traffic the first week expect it. I park at Elmwood Park down from the campus, it's free and I save about $100. Bang for the buck

It is college, what do you expect. We are poor, but if you study and do well in the school you will find something that can pay it off later.

    What to do for fun

It is actually a big city. Downtown bars, our acclaimed zoo, haunted houses, etc.

    Food and Dining

The food could be better, all I eat is Italian and burgers.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are basically apartments, nice space and a great facility. A little too costly, it would be better to find a real apartment or house with friends, or others.

    Academic Rigor

I love that it is challenging, but if I challenged myself before, I wouldn't be doing so bad.

    Tips for prospective students

If you believe this is like school before you are wrong, I came here hoping it would be the same. My first year wasn't terrible, but I could've done better. Be open-minded and be on top of things.

    Campus Safety

I've never felt safer in my life! The security here make sure we all stay safe, and they will come to your rescue for literally anything, even a dead battery in a parking garage!

    What to do for fun

I honestly enjoy visiting Elmwood Park that runs through the campus, it's great for some back-to-elementary fun, or for a good workout. Other hangouts include the student center, where there is ALWAYS something going on if you're willing to get involved.

    Food and Dining

There are some great restaurants and cafes around campus and nearby. I haven't gotten the chance to eat at Scott Hall, but I've heard wonderful things about their meals!

    Dorm Life

Sadly, I've not had the best experience in the dorms here. I expected it to be an all-out fun time with friendly faces, but the resident council leaves it completely up to you whether or not you want to get out and meet people. Personally, I could have used the motivation.

    Academic Rigor

I'd call this pretty average, so far I have a substantial amount of papers, but not so much that I can't find time between class and work.

    Tips for prospective students

I would say to avoid coming into college with any preconceived notions. I'd been told to watch out because this was a commuter school and most people wouldn't be there to make friends. I've found that to be completely false; a simple smile and occasional class time together can make any students form a friendship. Just remember, if you're new to college, the chances are most people in your classes will be too!

    In three sentences

The University of Nebraska at Omaha has the perfect feel for me. It's friendly, with a large campus to meet new people but not so large as to get totally lost. I enjoy all my classes, they've got great professors and helpful classmates!

    Campus Safety

I have never felt worried for my safety while on the UNO campus. The entire campus is well-lite, has lots of cameras, and emergency stations. Any time you even feel like there could be something wrong you can push that button and a security team is immediately sent to your location.

    Clubs and Activities

There are lists upon lists of clubs and activities available at UNO. If you are wondering is there a club that... I can almost guarantee that your answer is yes.

Great for these types of students

You could be a student who wakes up goes to class then goes back to their dorm and keeps to themselves and be just fine. But that isn't utilizing all the opportunities that you get while going to UNO. The people that will have the best time are the ones that will go out and try new things, join some clubs and meet new great people.

    Bang for the buck

Comparatively the tuition cost for UNO is lower than a lot of other universities. I have talked with some of my friends that go to another university and they don't get nearly as many perks as UNO students. That's not just for on the campus either, for example a lot of restaurants around UNO have daily special discounts just for UNO students.

    What to do for fun

There are tons of clubs and activities to join that are tailored specifically to certain interests. Or you can go to the Hypr building to go indoor rock climbing, play racquetball, go swimming, and much more.

    Food and Dining

The food court has a wide variety from salads to Chinese food. I tend to go more with the Chinese food.

    Academic Rigor

I am a pre-med student so I think I am a little biased on this one. But there are fantastic instructors that do a great job helping students understand even the most difficult of topics.

    Tips for prospective students

    1) Ask questions. I am a junior and I am still finding out about all these groups and activities at UNO that I wish I was a part of since day one. 2) Keep your ears open. Groups are always advertising for new members, so listen up. 3) Finally, why not? You'll hear about a group or activity and not be sure, just try it out! Some of my favorite moments at UNO were from why not moments. One time in particular I joined a pick-up game of Quidditch it was weird, it was crazy, and it was a blast!

    In three sentences

I initially decided to go to UNO because my girlfriend decided to go there. It was one of the best decisions I have made. I love it at UNO and would recommend for anyone to go there.

I was hesitant to go to UNO because as a senior in high school I was looking at where the fun would be and UNO is so much smaller than UNL (another option I was considering). Because of the close knit community I've made a lot of new friends and almost every day I run into a familiar friendly face.

The campus has dining in several locations on campus and they always have specials. Additional off campus restaurants are plentiful as well. Many restaurants have deals for students like a percentage off your ticket.

    Dorm Life

I have not lived in the dorms as I have a house close to campus but the dorms I have seen are up to date and really nice.

    Academic Rigor

School is school. You will have classes more difficult than others but at UNO you have easy access to tutoring if you need it.

    Tips for prospective students

I would recommend visiting the college and checking out the major you are specifically interested in. This will help you get a feel for if UNO is right for you.

    In three sentences

The campus is not so big that would dread walking from one end to the other, but big enough to feel like apart of the university atmosphere. All of my instructors so far have been wonderful and accessible outside of the classroom for help if needed. UNO is situated in a great location within the city so plenty of entertainment is within minutes from campus, plus the school holds events for students as well.

    Bang for the buck

UNO is cheaper for metro area students because it has a lower tuition rate than Creighton and University of Nebraska at Lincoln. As well as the program they offer to Iowa residents for lower discounted tuition. They also have an incredible pale grant program.

    What to do for fun

All athletic events are free to students. The school books countless influential, famous, scholars to engage with students. There are activities like Mav Mojo where the school sponsors events at cool restaurants, movies or theme parks or whatever else you can think of an provide it free to students.

    Food and Dining

UNO has several dining choices throughout campus. In the library, the student center, the performance gym, pretty much everywhere on campus. Not to mention that the school is very close to a commercial shopping area with many affordable food options.

    Dorm Life

There are dorms located directly on north campus where all liberal arts courses take place and dorms located on the south campus in an urban, upscale downtown area of the metro.

    Academic Rigor

UNO offers highly challenging courses in the upper level classes offered in each field of study. They also have nationally ranked field of studies in such career fields as aviation, military and medical fields.

    Tips for prospective students

Check all of your online portals for UNO as often as possible, Gmav, blackboard, mavlink,etc.. Take advantage of student worker/ work study opportunities as well as club and Greek culture in the school. Support the mavericks and Omaha's team because of the fact that all sporting events are free to students.

    In three sentences

It offers incredibly available and involved educators. Ease of communication with entire university staff. Countless free perks of being a student and use of mav card, personal student id.

    What to do for fun

There is a park right by campus and many restaurants that give discounts if using a student ID.

    Food and Dining

Mediocre, but a somewhat large variety to choose from. However, comparing it to the past university I attended/lived at, the options are pretty slim.

    Dorm Life

I transferred into the university from another university so I did not live in any dorms.

    Academic Rigor

Attendance is required in most of the classes I have taken. Professors can be flexible when it comes to due dates, assignments, and excused absences. This does not apply for all, however.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to class! Study! That is all there is to it. Skipping class and failing to look over notes will destroy you.

    In three sentences

You can definitely tell that the institution is progressing further in the programs they offer. Sometimes I feel like the staff is a bit lacking when it comes to set curriculum because often teachers do not have set plans prior to class. However, due to a smaller-town feel of the campus, attention to each individual student is helpful toward academic achievement.

    Campus Safety

I feel 100% safe on campus and around campus, on the shuttles from Crossroads to school, it is completely comfortable and I know that if I needed help there would be someone to help. I love how safe and secure the campus is.

    Greek Life

I am not part of a sorority, but again I have plenty of friends who are. They are all for joining one, and they all seem to agree that their sorority/fraternity helped them get through the tough times and even help academically.

    Clubs and Activities

There are many clubs and activities available to everyone. Some religious, some just for fun. However, it is really easy to sign up and when you do join the people who are part of it are very welcoming.

Great for these types of students

UNO has a wide array of options so its not specifically great for one type of student or the other. They have a great business program along with a great education program. Or if your into science or language or art there's great opportunities for those students too. It's very open and has plenty of options for everyone.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The most well-known unusual tradition or urban legend, is that if you step on the bell under the clock tower it's bad luck. And in that same tower, if you leave or enter the tower at a 90 degree angle that is also bad luck.

    Bang for the buck

I think UNO is worth the money that it costs to go here, in all aspects. Tuition is going to be the highest expense you have, but it is definitely worth it. I feel like I get my full money's worth attending classes here.

    What to do for fun

There's a lot of opportunities on and off campus to participate in fun activities. My personal favorite is Midnight Mojo, tons of games, free food, and just fun while your hanging out with friends. I also appreciate all the activities they hold in the pep bowl that are open to everyone.

    Food and Dining

I love the UNO cafeteria in the student center. There are plenty of options for everyone; whether it be Chinese, chicken, pizza, or sushi, there's something for everyone and it's not very pricey either.

    Dorm Life

I don't personally live in the dorms, but I have quite a few friends who do and they always have nothing but nice things to say. They really like the apartment style housing along with all the great neighbors and opportunities that come along with living on campus.

    Academic Rigor

I found a couple of my classes more challenging than others, but it is to be expected when coming into college that it is not going to be super easy.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to sign up for your classes as soon as you can! Take as many general education classes in your first year or two as you can.

    In three sentences

I really have enjoyed my first year dramatically more than I thought I would. I completely understand why people speak so highly of this school. Academically I have had great teachers so far.

    Campus Safety

No matter where you go there are pillars with emergency buttons on them, if you so wish you can be escorted to your vehicle or class in the evenings, and campus security can always be found easily.

    Clubs and Activities

There are too many to even account for on here. I would say check it out and you will find some you can get into.

Great for these types of students

Honestly everyone, this is a very diverse school and for the most part everyone is pretty accepting. Whether you are an introvert, extrovert, whatever religion, orientation, identification you have there is a place for you at the school. People are generally friendly.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

In the center of campus is a giant bell tower, underneath of that is a ceramic bell design on the ground. DO NOT STEP ON IT! If you do it is said that you will fail the class/test you are headed to. I do not suggest tempting the bell.

    Bang for the buck

The cost per credit hour is insane (in a good way). The classes are almost always wonderful and enlightening and not that expensive when compared to colleges around the world. Plus you get access to sporting events, the library, HPER, a clinic, and a dozen other things just for being enrolled, no extra costs. They even have offers for student health insurance. I can't be the only one impressed with that.

    What to do for fun

Sporting events, concerts, movies, and all the usual things for colleges. There are always events happening on and off campus. Plays, productions, sports, (which anything school related students get into completely free with student ID!) are all around. HPER is a huge asset for fun, between all the rental gear for outdoors, rock climbing, basketball, raquet ball, and park right in the center of campus there is a ton of stuff to do. Off campus there are coffee shops, tea places, shopping centers, gyms, and concerts always going on. Sokol Auditorium and the Century Link Center always have things going on as well so if you don't like staying on campus, a few bucks will get you some great nights.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria food isn't bad, there are a variety of choices. If you don't want to eat on campus there are dozens of places right around campus and quite a few of them give discounts to students!! You are never more than 10 minutes from some good grub on campus.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are nicely furnished and in locations that make everything nicer. You are in walking distance of food, study environments, entertainment, and right down the road from some of the big shopping centers. My favorite thing though has to be the kitchens, they are gorgeous!

    Academic Rigor

Depending on your degree UNO can be one of the more rigorous schools I've heard of. Every degree program has its challenges that are going to be difficult. Overall I would say they are pretty good and being academically on top of things.

    Tips for prospective students

Three things to keep in mind at UNO: first, take a campus visit! Use as many chances as you can to get on campus before classes start. Second, go in prepared. I walked in with literally everything ready to go or questions ready to be asked and it was a breeze. Horror stories result in not being ready. Last, be ready for the weather. The campus isn't huge but you will do a LOT of walking so don't let the weather catch you off guard especially in the fall and winter months.

    In three sentences

Between the awesome counselors, great staff, constant entertainment, perfect library, and easy to navigate campus UNO is great school! The only downside is parking, parking passes are insanely expensive and without on parking can be downright dreadful even with the free shuttles. Overall, I am impressed with the school thus far and it just keeps coming!

Very nice school for business program, new building and class rooms just built. The doors are mini-apartments, perfect for a chance to feel on your own. Smaller campus, so you don't really meet many new people, but its a lot more hands on learning.

    In three sentences

It was a smaller university, so the classes were a lot smaller and easier to connect with teachers. The math program was really well and helped a lot. Not a very busy campus so it was difficult to find motivation to go to classes.

    What to do for fun

UNO is in a very good location. It is right next to Aksarben, a growing little mall with some good stores and restaurants. Not far down the street is Midtown, which has even better food! Then, not much farther from that is Downtown Omaha. My friends and I can always find something fun to do between the three close areas.

    Food and Dining

I cooked food for myself most the time since I lived in an apartment style dorm. However, on the few occasions I have found myself in the cafeteria, I have not been disappointed!

    Dorm Life

The dorm I lived in, Scott Court, was phenomenal, but the price? Not so wonderful. Also, as much as I loved the apartment style dorm I lived in, the matching to roommates (I did random assignment and had to fill out a bit of information about myself) was terribly awful. Roommates can decide how much you enjoy living on campus! If I were to of had better roommates, I would probably rank dorm life with a much better rating!

    Academic Rigor

I have been sufficiently challenged throughout all the classes I have taken.

    Tips for prospective students

Live on campus for at least one year to get the swing of college and your fellow classmates.

Getting involved overall. There is always something going on whether it is through the activities you are in or the things that the campus holds.

    Food and Dining

There are always different food options here which makes it very convenient.

    Dorm Life

A wonderful experience. All the dorms here are suite style and it makes it convenient to walk to class. Gives me more of an idea of how to take care of myself more efficiently than it would in a traditional dorm.

    Academic Rigor

The difficulty of the class is all based on you. As long as you do the work and attend class, it won't be dramatically difficult. Just keep up on your class assignments and prepare for test early.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't forget to get involved in the on-campus activities. Always remember to take an opportunity when given because you might not be able to take it again. Create lasting friendships. School and Health first.

The first tradition most new students hear at UNO is don't step on the bell. At the center of Pacific campus stands a bell tower and underneath it is a ceramic bell. Students who pass under the bell tower avoid stepping on this bell because doing so will mean failing your next test, or so the legend goes.

    What to do for fun

Hockey games, basketball games, joining a club that piques your interest, and working out at HPER are just a few great things to do at UNO.

    Food and Dining

The food court on Pacific campus is pretty good but I've heard the one on South campus is even better. There are almost always events that provide pizza or snacks.

    Dorm Life

I don't live in the dorms but I have friends who do. They're really nice, especially the ones on South Campus.

    Academic Rigor

The science classes are quite challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to at least one hockey game. UNO does not have a football team, so hockey is our passion. The games are only fun if there are a lot of Mavs present.

    In three sentences

Overall, UNO is a great place to learn and make friends. UNO offers many places to study, most notably the Criss Library which has a completely quiet third floor that's great for intense study sessions. There are always events planned within the university and around the city.

Campus security is always patrolling. Many security kiosks spread across campus. There is a clinic (for both physical and mental health) in the HPER, focusing on the concern for the emotional and physical well-being of the students.

    Clubs and Activities

Some of the organizations are not all known or popular but if you search, you might find something cool to be involved with.

Great for these types of students

A resident of Nebraska or Iowa that want to have the university experience, but don't wish to move too far from home. Or anyone that wants to experience the wonderfully underrated city of Omaha.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The hockey team are wildly popular. Enjoy the games. They are free if you are a student.

    Bang for the buck

Omaha is relatively cheap to live in. Tuition may cost a lot, but Omaha is not that difficult to live in.

    What to do for fun

I exercise at the HPER, which is the school gym. There's tons of things to do there. And there's a lot of campus organizations that surprisingly a lot of students do not take advantage of. Also, on the weekends UNO is not too far from the ever-growing Aksarben area.

    Food and Dining

I like the food choices and enjoy the fine dining at Scott Residence. But the cafeteria on the Dodge Campus closes at 2PM, which doesn't help if you are there all day. Breakfast and Lunch have decent options for dietary restrictions and such. Decent value.

    Dorm Life

I don't live in the dorms, but I hear it's heavily regulated. So, I can assume that it's safe to live there. Campus tends to shut down on Friday at 5pm, so be prepared to make plans every weekend or be bored. Aksarben is close by, which has several restaurants, a movie theater, etc.

    Academic Rigor

It's a subjective question, because all instructors are different. With that said, it's what you make it.

    Tips for prospective students

Get the MavRide pass. It's a Metro Transit Pass that costs nothing thanks to the UNO Student Government. Also, get the B ride pass for hourly rental bikes. Since you are a UNO student, your first hour is always free. And try to pay for everything on campus with your MavCard (Student ID). Every time you use your MavCard, your purchase is 10% off.

    What to do for fun

See above in the Tips for Prospective Students. There is always something going on in Omaha. During the summer we host the College World Series, in the spring and fall there is usually a free event every weekend downtown.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria is more like a mall food court - there are several different shops where you can purchase the food from. It is pretty good for cafeteria food, however a little pricey.

    Dorm Life

While I have never lived in them, the dorms at UNO are pretty awesome. They are apartment/suite styled housing, so you don't have to share a room with someone, just the entire apartment. There are always events going on at the dorms too so you can get to know your neighbors. I suppose the only downfall is that it is a dry campus - no alcohol in the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

I would say that UNO is a moderately difficult college. I mean, Warren Buffet doesn't give the school a ton of money and endorse it for no reason at all! Of course there will be really easy classes, and then there are the extremely difficult ones. You just have to work your way up to those difficult ones.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are from out of town, do not pass this school up because of its location. Omaha is such an awesome city, you can't possibly understand unless you've lived here and understand the culture and dynamic of the city. There is always something free going on around town, and they are not lame events either! Get involved and you will make friends, it is as simple as that. We've got sports (including Quidditch and a pretty awesome hockey team), academic clubs, service learning clubs, the list is endless. You are bound to find something you will love.

    In three sentences

UNO is a school where you receive a thorough education at a decent price. It has a gorgeous campus and the students and faculty pride themselves on giving back to the community. There are a ton of different ways to get involved on campus, there is sure to be a club or group that you will fit perfectly in!

    What to do for fun

You're less than 15min away from downtown and campus is in the heart of midtown. There are always things to do from shopping, to gaming, to clubbing. There are many events all year round from concerts to circus and carnivals.

    Food and Dining

Not a lot of options on campus, but plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

    Dorm Life

I don't live in dorms, but from what I've been shown, it is VERY nice. You can definitely get your own room and privacy without much problem

    Academic Rigor

Since there are so many options to choose from, you will never get bored. If classes doesn't take enough of your time, there are always clubs, sports, and activities for you to do.

    Tips for prospective students

Parking is an absolutely horrendous problem on campus. If you don't mind walking, park in the free areas around campus.

    In three sentences

The campus is huge, but in the center of town so if you live on campus, you're close to everything. Transportation is not a big problem at UNO and tuition is fairly decent. If you like big colleges in which you don't have to deal with your classmates too much, this will be the place for you.

    Campus Safety

I felt completely safe walking around campus even though I felt outside of campus wasn't all that great of a neighborhood. There always seemed to be some staff member everywhere on campus or other students around. Campus cops, I hear, walk you to your car should you feel unsafe to do it on your own but NOT if you are not parked ON campus unfortunately.

    Greek Life

Not interested and can find the same camaraderie outside Greek Life.

    Clubs and Activities

There is literally something for absolutely everyone and every major. Quite impressive actually.

Great for these types of students

The social extroverts and young adults. I hear adults can find their niche here too but I personally did not feel this way during my stay. I think I needed to stay longer to see it though.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely affordable. I am a believer in paying out of pocket for my education and this college (along with all the other UN campuses) are very affordable.

    What to do for fun

I am not too familiar with Kearney, but all I keep hearing is that it is a drinking town. My current town is the same but I don't seek out those things to do so I feel that there is more to do than just drinking as everybody says. Besides, I think a student will be (or should be) too busy studying and doing other extracurricular activities to worry too much about finding something to do. I'm pretty sure there's something for everyone.

    Food and Dining

I saw lots of options and was impressed by all the choices students had for food. Also out in town there seemed to be many places to try out.

    Dorm Life

I wasn't comfortable being there and it felt tiny. Privacy goes out the door. I suppose I recommend it for those just out of high school and hasn't been on their own. And one must remember that even though there are really nice apartments to put in for, there is always a price to pay to stay in those rooms (and I don't mean just money).

    Academic Rigor

From what I have researched from both students who have attended or are attending, the classes are challenging but doable if you are the serious student. Most of the classes seat 50+ students and that may not be your cup of tea. Tutoring is great and all but consider the extra time you will take to do it, plus possible work, plus volunteer work, and trying to squeeze in school activities. Perhaps a smaller class will work best. I like that UNO has many resources to help students get through all their courses which makes attending here ideal for me but a smaller class and getting my questions out of the way right then saves me the headache of having to make time to go see a tutor. Either way, I feel a majority of the classes here are very doable compared to that of UNL.

    Tips for prospective students

The tour seems to be particularly geared toward getting the interest of high school kids and not adults. I did not relate to most of what the tour guide shared with us and did not get my controversial questions answered. Be sure to check into your major personally with instructors first hand because the tour's advertisement will simply express the FUN parts of being there and not so much the academic rigors one will face. Even though this seems like a really fun and exciting school to attend, really be honest with yourself and do your research before really attending. There are things the staff at UNO will simply not tell you because it is still a business and they need YOU.

    In three sentences

Very friendly student body with lots of school spirit, helpful staff is hit and miss it seems, and parking is not that great but I'm sure if you show up extra early you have time to either walk or take the shuttle to campus. The communication between all the departments is terrible and I keep getting sent in circles to get questions answered.
