Great for these types of students

Students fresh from high-school or those returning after long absences.

    Tips for prospective students

Start early. While the admission process may be short the sooner you are admitted, the sooner you can get on track. The difficulty lies in picking the right classes for you, amongst the limited number. On the other hand classes like psychology or English fill up fast.

    Bang for the buck

Compared to most schools in the are UNM-Taos is cheap for a full four year college experience. All of the classes are on par with Main Campus standard, much smaller and cheaper. The biggest issue is the limited number of classes. It's difficult to pick classes on a set schedule, and be sure you'll fit in the classes.

    Am enjoying being here

UNM-Taos is a great start for students fresh from high-school or students returning from extended absences. The staff is almost always friendly and happy to help/

    Am learning a lot

The majority of Teachers at UNM-Taos are very knowledgeable in their fields. The science, English and Math departments are particularly strong, if a bit limited in classes.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is a top priorority at the University of New Mexico. Every area of campus is covered in Blue emergency polls. These hard to miss polls provide an emergency button and light on campus. Security guards walk campus and the surrounding areas. All dorms, including the off-campus dorms Lobo Village, are well protected as well.

    Greek Life

Greek life is an underdog on campus. Especially compared to other schools. With only four sororities and a handful of fraternities greek life lacks numbers. The members of greek life are spririted and succesfull students and it's environment and involvement on campus is exceptional considering it's size.

    Clubs and Activities

Campus life is full of clubs of activites. I can rate this to the highest standard. From sporting events, special occasions, and school functions, UNM is decked out to the highest level. From ASUNM (senate) to the Daily Lobo and it's staff, the three-level student union building houses too many clubs and event staff to count. We even have a built in Student-run Credit Union on the bottom floor.

Great for these types of students

Science majors, nursing, business, art, and engineering. Not to mention our medical school is top rated in the country.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every-one's a Lobo! Those three words are the longest standing tradition the University of New Mexico holds. Every game, academic honoring, school event, gathering, or function and a crowd will break out in this chant. Hearing a crowd of thousands, or even two people, and you'll feel the school spirit rush through your veins.

    Bang for the buck

Well New Mexico offers the Lottery Scholarship so every student living in New Mexico with a 3.0 or higher GPA out of high school can attend UNM free of cost. (excluding books, dorms, and other necessities) The Lottery Scholarship is hard to maintain and once you lose it, you can never get it back. However, this doesn't mean tuition is astronomical. In-state tuition adds up to the low number of $3000 dollars a semester for 18 credit hours or full time. So, Bang for the Buck? Yea, it's pretty banging.

    What to do for fun

I can't even list everything. University of New Mexico's sporting events are unbelievably exhilarating! The UNM men's lobo basketball team is rated 16th in the nation baby! Attending a basketball game in the nationally ranked arena The Pit is an experience a college student will never forget.

    Food and Dining

The food is great, but sometimes inconvenient, depending on one's campus location. The sub has a variety of delicious student friendly dining options, however, facilities further from central campus only offer small markets and snack bars. Laposada is the buffet style dorm cafeteria and I can vow that the food is, for lack of a better word, YUMMY!

    Dorm Life

Impeccable! Want to live on campus? Casas del Rio are the brand new up-to-date, clean, techy, safe, and fun dorms to live in. And for all of the off campus living? One year old Lobo Village is the spot to be.

    Academic Rigor

Curriculum is difficult but tackleable. If students dedicate enough time to their school work they will have no problem with any of their classes. All of the facilities, TA's, Online-learning tools (WebCT), teachers, and the overrall education are topnotch.

    Tips for prospective students

Live on campus! The new dorms Casas del Rio are amazing! You'll love spending time on campus in these affordable, cleanly, and to die for dorms! The experience from living on campus does not compare to life on the outside. The friends, education, environment, memories, and traditions are things that will stay with you for life. Starting your freshman year.

    In three sentences

Three sentences isn't enough to describe this cultural and exhilarating school. The University of New Mexico provides excellent education in a beautiful environment. The southwestern campus is dazzling, the teachers are inspiring, and the opportunities this school provides are endless.
