Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who enjoy the rush of a busy campus life, and those who are dedicated to putting time away for study hours.
Tips for prospective students Leave your house/dorm/apartment early enough to beat the morning class traffic. Parking is limited so if you do not have a premium parking pass, you will have to purchase a daily pass for $3.00 and park in the parking lots in the back. From there if you do not feel like walking you may take a UNF shuttle but be careful, they stop at every stop and you may be late for class. Prepare yourself and make sure you are up early to get a great start.
Bang for the buck Having scholarships really do help, so focus and keep up the GPA so you don't lose your scholarship as college is an expensive investment!
Am enjoying being here UNF offeres a wide range of students. There is plenty of GREEK life for students to learn more about, and there is a lot of different events and activities on campus that hand out free food and prizes. The Student Union center is where all the fun activities are held and oftentimes you will meet many people just hangin' around the bookstore or library.
Am learning a lot At UNF, you will have so many choices of taking different classes. As a freshman enrolling at UNF, you are required to take a few different electives to expand your knowledge of the real world. Don't skip class, though! Attendance may not always be mandatory for certain classes, but you will regret falling behind and not everyone may take the same notes for you to study.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UNF is great for any student who wants to go away to college. The dorms feel more and more like home and it’s great to live with your friends. The students at UNF are there because they are serious about their education. UNF is great for students who work hard and aren’t afraid to ask questions. That’s what the counselors are there for. Students looking to go into Nursing would have ample opportunity at the wonderful Nursing Program at UNF. The Business Program is also good. Students who wish to make a difference will find their niche in the Student Government. Students looking for leadership opportunities will have plenty options.
Tips for prospective students Apply early! And consider applying for programs such as the Honors Program, which look great on resumes. Take time to figure out what and when you eat before you choose a meal plan. And trust me, the food doesn’t suck. Decide whether or not you want comfort or the basics before you apply for housing and make sure you read up on the perks each dorm has. You can also choose which roommates you want. I wish I’d known about all of the free services UNF had to offer before I went out and bought them for myself. If you’re planning on joining any sort of ensemble or team, make sure you email the coach or director beforehand to discuss auditions and tryouts – you may need time to prepare. And always check out the scholarships UNF offers!
Bang for the buck You definitely get more bang for your buck at UNF. My stay at the Fountains dorm was like staying in a luxury hotel - lazy river, full size pool, laundry/kitchen/trash rooms on every floor, and a game room, 24 hour gym, and convenience store right downstairs. If you sign up for a meal plan, you can choose between 10, 14, or 19 meals a week, where you can choose to eat at the buffet-style cafeteria (they will be remodeling next year) or the many on-campus restaurants, or both! There is also a full gym (currently being remodeled, and temporarily stationed at the on-campus arena) that is free for UNF students with their UNF ID. At the Performing Arts Center, students can enjoy many free performances by both local and famous groups (BOB gave a performance this year!). There are nature trails, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing ponds, all free to UNF students. Not to mention that UNF is about 10 minutes from the beach.
Am enjoying being here I LOVED being a student here; I truly wish I didn't have to transfer home for financial reasons. The campus is absolutely gorgeous with all of its foliage, lakes, and geese (the geese are everywhere)! You often see students out on the campus green playing Frisbee or just lying down for a nap in the grass between classes. The Performing Arts Center is truly a sight, with its majestic columns and beautiful decoration. Its so easy to make friends with the laid back atmosphere of campus life. There are also plenty on on-campus jobs for those seeking to earn an extra buck. There is a huge shopping center not 5 miles from the school as well, for those who wish to work off campus. Some of the restaurants even except the UNF “Ozzie Bucks.” I loved going to UNF!
Am learning a lot I have learned a lot from my classes here. The professors are knowledgeable and approachable, and most class sizes are small and give you a more personal interaction with your fellow classmates and professors. The professors have office hours were you can stop by and ask questions, or you can email them if you so choose through Blackboard. You have the opportunity to learn more than what you need to know in order to pass. If you seek more information, you can head over to the rather enormous on-campus library, where you can study until late at night, with Starbucks just around the corner. Internships are available as well as research opportunities.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I think UNF is a great school for someone who is looking to go to a University to learn and grow as a person, not just for the parties, football, and Greek life. In a way it's great that UNF doesn't have the craziness (frat houses, football games, bars on campus) that some other schools have that can be potentially distracting. Often times the campus is very quiet and serene. There are plenty of shops, clubs, and fun places right outside of the campus to enjoy. It's like having the best of both worlds really. If you can see yourself at a school where the teacher knows your name, there is a facebook page for everything, salt-life is a common car sticker, Starbucks is the place to be, and dub-step/alternative rock music can be frequently heard over the speakers in the student union...then this is the place for you.
Tips for prospective students I will be honest, UNF is not as hard to get into as UF or FSU...but it is a growing school that I think is only getting better. I would definitely apply early, and focus on SAT scores, plus community service. UNF will really reward those students who come in with great GPAs and test scores as well. They also take a lot of AP credits. When I got here I got full credit for my AP Macro-economics, AP Psych, and AP Literature.
Bang for the buck Right now I have everything I need right here on campus, however there is a lot of construction going on. A new cafeteria and wellness center are being built right now, meaning the gym is temporarily in the arena and the cafeteria is dispersed wherever. Other than that, UNF offers a lot that I would consider a bang for the buck. At the nature trails you can check out free camping gear, surfboards, kayaks, canoes, and various outdoorsy equipment. There's also a lot of free food events, clubs to get involved with, free admission to sporting events of course...I also think being so close to the beach is great because, besides gas, that is free fun right there! Oh, and the education is pretty great too. Free tutoring is offered on a pretty regular basis. It has helped me out tremendously.
Am enjoying being here I love the fact that UNF is a smaller university, but still has a lot going on throughout the campus. I'm never overwhelmed, but I can always find something to do. I've also really enjoyed running through the nature trails and kayaking on the lake (UNF is basically on a nature preserve I believe). Being an active person, I have found it really convenient that I can walk to the pool, gym, and nature trails in under 15 minutes no matter where I am on campus. Everything is very compact, but not so squished together that the campus is cramped. The dorms are also very spacious and well taken care of. Oh, and the beach is 5-10 minutes away from campus. Being someone without a car, it's nice to know that I could at least go for a 30 minute run and reach the ocean.
Am learning a lot The professors here generally take their time teaching the material. You really learn as much as you are willing to though. I've realized that one of the best things about UNF is that the classes are never so huge that the professor doesn't have time to answer questions or give individual help. I think that this kinda goes along with the whole UNF saying, No one like you, no place like this.

Categories Comments Campus Safety for the most part it is safe but there has been recent news of attempted robbery by the dorms during the day time but not anywhere else at the school.
Greek Life lots of fraternites and sororites but they are not real active in displaying their activity.
Clubs and Activities it has many different clubs that mainly targets leadership like the student union club and student veterans association club.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the osprey green where it advocates free speech so anybody offcampus or oncampus can speak and do whatever they freely choose to do as long as it does not physically harm or verbally abuse anybody.
What to do for fun the school have many different events like movie night and socials like ice cream social for the student body.
Food and Dining food is expensive on campus. the food is fairly good but some of the food like pizza is bland. also some of it is not always fresh.
Dorm Life this depends on the roommates and the respect that they have on each other as far as the room goes.
Academic Rigor most of the classes are farely small so the teacher can help you out more in the class.
Tips for prospective students make sure you apply as many scholarships as you can so you wont have to pay as much for the difference. take advantage of the tutors and resources to help you with your coursework.
In three sentences it is a great academic school. it is very political in its approach to respect the versatile student body. it is very proactive in community service.

Categories Comments Campus Safety very good security.
Great for these types of students students that are looking to move on to a bigger university for a major and students who are looking to get a bachlors in a business specific area.
Bang for the buck unf is very reasonable as far as cost goes.
What to do for fun there are a ton of activities and areas to socialize with friends on the unf campus.
Food and Dining unf offers a few large food chain options on campus and a student dining hall.
Dorm Life th edorm life is ok there are many great people to socialize with but i wouldn't rate it as a top dorm life school.
Academic Rigor unf is a very demanding institution and commands the best from it's students. which is a very good thing if you want to be successful.
Tips for prospective students you have to have a very motivated work ethic when entering into college. unlike high school college professors aren't going to hold your hand and make you do what you must to pass the course. all are helpful and will offer help when needed but you must study and keep up with your own materials to make it.
In three sentences this is a beautiful campus with a lot to do and many people to interact with. the admission process for unf is very painless compared to other larger universities. the classes and staff are very well set up, friendly, and helpful here.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Depends on where on campus you eat at.
Dorm Life I love living in the dorms. I get up 20 mins before my classes in the mornings and I still make it on time.
Academic Rigor It kinda depends on who your professor is.
Tips for prospective students Apply early! It betters your chance of getting in.
In three sentences UNF is amazing! The school is small so the class sizes are pretty small. The atmosphere is great!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Those light up blue poles are everywhere. You'll have no problem staying safe on campus.
Great for these types of students Surfers!
What to do for fun Hit the beach! Go downtown. St. John's Town Center is just a bike ride away!
Food and Dining They're in the process of building a huge dining hall, some buffets in there, should be great. But you always have Ozzies open until 3 am. So excellent.
Dorm Life Great community to be in, but on the weekends, it's pretty dead.
Academic Rigor So far, not horribly tough, and I've had some awesome professors!
Tips for prospective students Try and bring a car, there isn't a ton to do on the weekends on campus.
In three sentences UNF is a small, beachy school. Surprisingly a lot of commuters, but the dorms stay full too. If you're looking for parties, this is not the place to be; but if you're looking for a campus full of great people and a relaxed environment, come here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We were ranked #3 in the nation for campus safety. suck on them apples.
Greek Life ughh it's whatevaa
Clubs and Activities We have the coolest clubs. my favorite being: biology club, organic gardening, and cardio birds.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Check out the green. it's the bomb, always stuff going on there. Also, the 4th and 5th floor of the fountains north tower.
Bang for the buck With how modern everything is, and all the renovation with new buildings popping up everywhere, and state of the art facilities you're definitely getting what you pay for here. Plus who doesn't want to live on a national forest, with miles of trails, lakes, a zip-line course. And a lazy river for peet sakes.
What to do for fun Jacksonville is a huge city so you can honestly do anything if you're creative enough. A lot of bars like to play awesome jazz music, as Jacksonville, and UNF have some of the most amazing jazz artists locally. Also, living close to the beach is a plus, you got surfing, skating, and all the concerts that come to free-bird. A lot can happen, just be willing to go out of your way to do things cause Jacksonville is a large city.
Food and Dining Since the old cafeteria was knocked down it's been a little worse, but the fact that we're going to have a buffet, and 3 stories of dining options this next year is so awesome. Im gonna do most of my studying in there from now on.
Dorm Life The R.A's at UNF are so chill. Its a lot of fun being on campus, longboarding the garages at night, to star gazing on the green after dark. Most of your wild parties happen off campus, so dont try and get away with that here. But, otherwise there are always activites, clubs, sporting events going on within campus. There is a game room, and restaurants on campus also. Honestly, UNF is the hippest place outside downtown.
Academic Rigor The classes at UNF tend to be a little smaller, but you still have your big lecture classes. With that in mind, whether you're in lecture or breakout you will always have teachers willing to help, everyone I've ever had has given us office hours multiple times a week. Just make sure to take advantage of those times.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that you can enjoy down time, and when the time calls be a social butterfly. Like any college you have to make sure to keep an open mind, a open heart, and willing to go out and try new things.
In three sentences The University of North Florida is a great institution for individualism, respect, education, and nature. It is by far one of the most unique Universities in Florida, because of it's wonderful location, and the free-spirited student body that is a proud Osprey!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is very important on campus. The campus is well lite in all major areas (near classes, parking lots, dorming areas, major walking paths). All doors are opened with electronic keys that must be pre-programed so that no one can get in any private areas or rooms that is not assigned to their key. Buses run from 7am to 3am to take students to the living areas, student union, arena, and parking lots. If it is late at night and you feel you don't want to go to your car across campus after class alone a cop will come and escort you. We also have emergency call buttons throughout the campus in case of emergencies.
Greek Life We have many of the Divine Nine and traditional black international organizations. We also have many of the traditional white organizations as well. Though it is important to keep in mind none of them discriminate based on color/race. Their is a great deal of Hispanic and multicultural organizations as well. They are very active on and off campus promoting fun, friendship, public service, merit, and professionalism.
Clubs and Activities As far as clubs anyone who can get together 25 friends for one cause Student Government will help fund your club. African American Student Union (AASU) is a large club. Respect Check Protect (RCP) is also large and active on campus. Their are clubs for just about every major and for sports.
Great for these types of students Students looking for a cheaper public school with small classes will be attracted to this school. Students who enjoy nature, but don't want to particularly attend a college in the middle of the woods will also find this college appealing. This is also a good school who want to have fun and get involved on campus, but don't want to feel like they have applied to the University of Disney World or pay Disney world prices to attend/live.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus UNF is actually built around some protected land, their is a great nature trail where you can rent camping gear and canoes for free. The school is very into the green movement and incorporates nature throughout the campus. its really pretty, but not too jungle-like for the less outdoorsy people.
Bang for the buck UNF has one of the lowest tuitions in the state and Florida in general has some of the lowest tuition rates in the country. Every bit of our tuition dollars goes back into serving the students in some way shape or form. We have a brand new cafeteria, a brand new 2 story fitness center with an indoor track and a rock climbing wall; we have a bus that takes you off campus to the nearest mall and a brand new Biology building. Student government funds many clubs and student events.
What to do for fun Jacksonville is a large city with tons of things to do around the town; malls, movie theaters, parades, clubs, museums, festivals, the beach! On campus is even more entertaining: free movies on wednesdays, lots of on campus step shows, probates, and events by Frats and Sororities. We have 2-3 concerts a year featuring people such as BYOB, Ludacris, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, LMFAO, etc. We have market days, homecoming festivities, and more sports teams/events both NCAA and intramural than I can think of! So much free food and fun!
Food and Dining Besides our brand new 4 story buffet style cafeteria near the dorms and our Boathouse Grill (one of two wet areas on campus) near the Arena in the Student union, we also have many eateries around campus. We have both main stream (Sabarros, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, etc.) and some underground places (Salsaritas, Freshens, etc.). Their is also talk of possibly adding Chik fil a and Pizza Hut.
Dorm Life Residence Assistants (RA's) are some of the nicest, coolest, and most outgoing people on campus. They are always planning something for students in the dorms to get together, make friends, and be active. Some of my fondest memories are in the dorm with my random roommates getting to know someone new, learning their interests, and hanging out.
Academic Rigor Many classes here as in any place are challenging, but all the teachers are more than willing to help students succeed. I love how enthusiastic my professors are about topics in their field. There is also an office for free tutors on campus whom are equally helpful and enthusiastic.
Tips for prospective students I would greatly advise that prospective students not only visit the school, but attend one campus event such as a musical performance, one of the various sporting events, or a play at Lazzara Theatre, so they can see how other students enjoy the college experience. I would also advise looking online at the schools multiple freshman and transfer student scholarships.
In three sentences I would rate UNF at a 4 out of 5 stars. All the faculty and staff are very helpful. Traditional classes are almost never larger than 30 students and lecture halls average about 250 at most which is different from many universities. The school is always improving upon itself and trying to stay cutting edge.

Categories Comments Campus Safety We have a great University Police Department, who are present and approachable. Safety is a big concern when moving about campus, and the crime in very low on campus.
Greek Life University of North Florida has a very large and present Greek Life. Although there is no official Greek housing, there is a very close community that has been built. If you are interested in Greek Life, I would highly recommend it.
Clubs and Activities There are more then can be described here! If you want something, UNF probably has it.
Great for these types of students If you are ambitious, and want more out of a college experience then just good grades, University of North Florida is a place you should look into. Because it is up and coming, students have the opportunity to be a part of that and really get some unique experiences that wouldn't be available at a larger and more traditional college.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus is situated in the middle of a Nature Preserve, so we are ideal located. Slightly isolated with ourselves, but 10/15 minutes from Jacksonville Beach and 15 minutes from Downtown Jacksonville. You get the best of all worlds.
Bang for the buck University of North Florida is growing as a college! All your student fees go towards things you can actually use, like the 100% free, new Student Wellness Complex (gym) with state of the art equipment and a rock climbing wall! Also, we have a high ropes course available to students and so much more! You really get your money's worth here, because everything is to make sure the student has a great college experience!
What to do for fun There is always something going on on campus! Osprey Productions brings big name concerts to campus, movies nights are held in the student union, trivia nights, karaoke nights, plays and much, much more! Also, living in a large city, such as Jacksonville, there are a lot of places around town to hang out and have fun.
Food and Dining University of North Florida has a brand new student Cafe (which is the cafeteria for the meal plans) and the food there is an excellent upgrade from the previous cafeteria! Also around campus are many other food places with a variety of options, even those with food restrictions such as vegetarian and vegan. Pizza, sushi, wraps, burritos, smoothies, you name it and it's on campus!
Dorm Life On-campus living is great! The rooms are larger then many universities, and there is a real sense of community within each building. The Housing staff is helpful and present, so you never feel like you don't know what to do or not know what's going on. Also, the housing is close to the academic buildings, so walking to classes is a breeze.
Academic Rigor Classes are smaller then many larger schools, so you have a better relationship with the faculty. Academically it is challenging, but in a way that helps you succeed and become a better student, not in a way that drags you down.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus! You can't tell if a school is right for you from the website or brochure. Make the effort to try the university out, and see if it may be a good fit for you! University of North Florida is a great place to visit, so schedule a tour!
In three sentences University of North Florida is about the student experience and what the University can do for you. The accessability and caring of the faculty and staff gives you a great academic experience, and the up and coming status of the school gives students a great opportunity to have a unique college experience. University of North Florida is a highly recommended school choice.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is excellent. We have call stations all throughout campus in case of an emergency or for anything. Campus securty will walk you to your dorm, or car if you would like them to if you don't feel safe. Also, they helped me when my car battery died!
Greek Life My freshman year I was against going Greek, but now that I have joined a sorority I LOVE it. There are so many great people that you get the oportunity to meet. There is always something to do and you get the chance to give back to your community through volunteer work.
Clubs and Activities over 200 clubs on campus and they are all great! you are bound to find one that you like and fit in with.
Great for these types of students campus is great and so are the people!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We SWOOP! Instead of the gator chomp or the axe chopping we swoop to represent our mascot, the Osprey.
Bang for the buck I think that I get my money's worth here at UNF. The things that I am paying for; classes, food, etc; are very good quality.
What to do for fun UNF has an outdoor adventure club/group that allows you to go kayaking, canoeing, and all sorts of things outside. UNF always plays great, new free movies. With its location, you are only minutes from the beach which is awesome!
Food and Dining Food is excellent on campus. there is a wide variety and the quality is good.
Dorm Life i lived on campus in the dorms my freshman year and liked being so close to everything. it was very conveinient and i was able to meet people easier.
Academic Rigor Depending on your major, academics can be easy, or hard. I am a nursing major and my academics are very hard but I love what I am doing so I do my best.
Tips for prospective students I would highly recommend UNF. The teachers and the classes here are wonderful.
In three sentences I love the small class sizes. Everyone is very nice. Campus is beautiful!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any student can thrive at UNF.
Tips for prospective students Go on a campus tour, during the school day if possible. Get involved on campus. I know for many people it is difficult if you are shy. Trust me I am one of those people but getting involved in a club, or Greek organization will make your college experience so much better than you could imagine. Make sure you study hard and focus. Make friends and have fun but do not let it interfere with getting your degree. When at any school lock your doors, it is sad how many people do not lock their doors and are surprised when something is missing.
Bang for the buck Tuition is about the same as any other public college in the state. Again the small campus makes your money more worth it because students can get more one on one attention. I can personally say the financial aid department is A-mazing! Before going to UNF I could not get the pell grant or any other aid I did not apply for myself. The staff is very nice and will work with you on getting aid or a low interest loan.
Am enjoying being here There is something for everyone at UNF. There are over 150 clubs and if they do not have what you want you can start your own club, and the Student Government is more than happy to help with funds. The campus is beautiful so being outside is wonderful, especially on The Green or by one of the lakes. With the small size of the campus you are not lost in the crowd like at larger universities. Jacksonville is a beautiful city, go explore it just be careful not to get too lost.
Am learning a lot As a student you learn a lot about any subject you are studying and you also learn a lot about yourself and other people.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This is a great school for those who are just starting out and don't mind watching the development of this school.
Tips for prospective students Research everything. Don't accept a school because you like the way it looks. Check out the quality of teaching and housing.
Bang for the buck As far as the total cost goes, if your living off campus it's the same price as other univeristies if you live off campus. However, the housing here cost more than at UF.
Will enjoy being here It's not exactly where I wanted to be but it's a start.
Will learn a lot I have heard some past students here give praise about this school saying it's really good. My sister is also attending and she is learning a lot.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you are looking for a school that offers a relaxed, fun, and academically challenging atmosphere that is focused on the individual student UNF is a school you should take a look at. I have a learning disability as well as a physical disability (hearing loss) and I was very intimidated by some of the Florida schools I visited; their class size, the way their tutoring sites were set up, the fact that things were geared more toward the student body as opposed to the individual student. UNF really focuses on the individual student.
Tips for prospective students Go to a an open house; it is worth the look and once you tour the campus you will really be able to see first hand all that UNF has to offer. My Mom arranged for me to go to the open house and honestly I wasn't really even interested in UNF but once I took a look around I was hooked! Utilize the UNF website! They really have a lot of good info available. Apply early!
Bang for the buck Considering the cost of college is going up again this year I would say you really get the most for your money at UNF; the class sizes are small, the campus is small enough that you don't feel overwhelmed and yet big enough where you do get that university feeling! Also, the campus is actually on a protected preserve so the atmosphere is very relaxed and natural. I looked at several other Florida schools but UNF really is fantastic!
Am enjoying being here I really enjoyed my freshman year at UNF, there is so much to do on campus; they have all kinds of activities and there always seem to be something fun going on on campus. The campus itself is located right near the St. John's Townscenter so you are literally 2 minutes away from all kinds of stores, restaurants, etc. too! The gym is great; I work out everyday and the indoor pool is a nice way to get in some extra cardio!
Am learning a lot My first year at UNF was great! It was an adjustment learning the campus, learning to be responsible for myself, etc. UNF does offer a lot of support and the UNF ACE (Academic Center) offers tutoring, workshops, and everything you need to make sure that you stay on track academically.

Tips for prospective students Focus on your school work, not partying 24/7!
Bang for the buck Like many schools, financial aid isn't the best at helping people. But the school is somewhat affordable.
Am enjoying being here This school is surrounded by trees. So, that means there will be raccoons and other friendly animals!
Am learning a lot This school is pretty small, but most of the teachers really want to see you succeed! If you put effort towards your homework and quizzes/test you should do amazing.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for anyone who is interested in learning or just relaxing the feel around the school is very relaxed. We are ten minutes from the beach and less than a mile from a large outdoor mall. This is a school you must come and take a tour of and see for yourself the scenery is beautiful and expanding really something worth looking at.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you get yourself involved in something on campus and learn time management. In college your parents are not holding your hands and the schedule is not as strict as in high school you have a lot more responsibility and time to do what you want. You must just learn how to manage your time and get everything done in a timely manner not a very difficult skill, but still something that everyone needs to learn.
Bang for the buck This school was rated in the top 25 of the Princeton review in education for your dollar with one of the best business colleges in the nation this school gives you a lot for a little it really is a magnificent school. A lot of stuff is free which is nice the ITS is free so if you get a virus on your laptop they fix it for free the concerts are free the sporting events are free the renting of camping equipment is free and its less than ten minutes from the beach. This school is great.
Am enjoying being here I am involved in so many things here at UNF. I am a member of a fraternity, the manager of the UNF men's soccer team and a student ambassador. I have so much fun being involved here it is big enough for you to meet new people, but small enough for you not to get lost. at about 16,500 students it is the perfect size for me. Also there is so much to do on campus from the nature center where you can rent canoes, kayaks, and camping equipment for free to osprey productions who puts on concerts such as Ludacris, B.O.B., Reel Big Fish, This place is phenomenal.
Am learning a lot I learn a lot from my professors because they are doing work in the field. A lot of my professors are doing research and me as a student get to participate. I am a psychology student and each semester for extra credit I get to participate in psychological research. It is really exciting to see what kind of things I have to look forward to as a psychologist.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school is good for students who are ready for a University, but not quite ready for a huge University. I was excited to be moving up in school, but I was very glad that I did not have to deal with the college town part of it. Even though I am now ready to get involved in a larger school, when I was first starting out I loved that it was just the right size.
Tips for prospective students This is a very community oriented school, so be ready to get involved with the school. Getting involved with the school will also be great for resume's and great for experience on campus.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone who loves sports other than football (sorry, no football team- yet). People who are serious with wanting to learn. It's not exactly the greatest school ever, not the hardest.. but if you really want to learn things then it's great because of the class sizes and quality of teaching.
Tips for prospective students Get involved. There are sooo many clubs and things to get involved in and volunteer with. Not only is it a great way to meet people and make friends, but it looks great when applying for scholarships and grad school, and also for job applications. Also, don't party too hard. It's ok to party and go out with friends, but don't let it get the best of your studying.
Bang for the buck Tuition is not as expensive as most colleges. There are quit a few scholarship opportunities also. When weighing all of the pros and cons with the amount of money it costs to go to school, I'd like to say that it's well worth the money.
Am enjoying being here The campus is great. It's on a nature preserve and it's gorgeous. It's also a much smaller campus than most, and you can get almost anywhere on campus in 10 minutes or less. Also, if it rains, which it most likely will a lot because it's Florida, most paths to and from buildings are covered.
Am learning a lot I'm a psych major at UNF in my 3rd year and I love it here. Class sizes are very small. Most of mine have been around 50 students, but the largest classes are only about 180, which is small compared to schools such as UF or UCF where classes can reach up to 300 or 400 students. Professors are great too. Just like any other school, there are a few that should be avoided. However, for the most part they're great. Friendly, enthusiastic and helpful.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Average students will do well as well as hard-working students. Lazy students won't do well because as the years pass and the classes get higher levels, you will not be able to keep up.
Tips for prospective students Be actively involved in Res-Life or some other form of interaction with people and you will love this college even more. Research your professors before the class and you're more likely to get a better educator.
Bang for the buck As with most colleges you see a lot of fees for things you don't use, however at UNF you notice what you're paying for and you do research about it and understand why they're charging you for that item. The clinic, counseling, and the shuttle (UNF bus) is free on-campus so long as you're registered for classes.
Am enjoying being here I truly love UNF, but I also enjoy the city itself. There is always something to do either on-campus or off and you're only 15 minutes away from the beach while on-campus.
Am learning a lot While at UNF you learn a great deal about your major, your professors, your surroundings, and the people that you interact with. So long as you get a decent professor you learn a lot during class, but if you don't get a decent professor you learn what type of professor you like that benefits your learning style.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UNF is the perfect place for any student who doesn't want a HUGE campus, considering we are sitting around 30,000 students. We only have 1 location, making everything very convenient and close together. Also, we have 5 different colleges throughout UNF: health, business, engineering, education, and science. If you are interested in a successful future, I can guarantee we have a program or major/minor to meet your needs! If you have seen yourself as the leader of your class, the next president, or a community volunteer... then UNF is your school!
Tips for prospective students GET INVOLVED. I cannot stress this enough. If you do not get involved into groups that match your interests, you will never grow as a student and individual. UNF offers so many different groups, societies, etc. that there is going to be at least once place that you will fit perfectly. The best thing about all of these different options is that you have the chance to test them out and see if it is right for you. You have the option to GO GREEK, or get involved in politics, or become a volunteer in the library. There are so many options available for you that there is NO REASON for you to be driving home on the weekend to visit parents.
Bang for the buck With the price of tuition coming to increase, I want to be at a campus that offers me more than I can handle. I found that at UNF. The campus is all closely location in a large circle, allowing you access to everything at once. There are over 5 different locations to live on campus, with their own parties, games, events taking place on a weekly basis. The Student Union is a huge 3 story fun packed location. The outside is always detailed with the top music hits playing, greek letters, leadership groups spread out, and footballs flying over head. Inside the glass walls, there is 3 floors of fun. They have jam-packed the building with a huge game room, theatre, art gallery, restaurants, fast food, and FUN. If you are on break from class, this is the place to relax. Just next to the Student Union is the amphitheatre, where so many FREE top concerts are located. We have had some awesome singers and rappers performed at UNF, and have always been free, compliments of UNF. To continue this long list of option available, UNF has a huge 2.5 story brand new gym that was constructed. You will never need to worry about the freshman 15 at this location. In the warmer months, head over to the pool to cool off or relax during a Dive-In Movie. To top it all off, if you are free one evening, head out to one of the numerous sports fields to watch the Ospreys play. With almost ever sport offered, you can never miss out on your favorite players and games! All of these offers are available to you for FREE, just for being an Osprey!
Am enjoying being here I have never looked back on my decision of attending UNF. The only regret I have ever had is not taking summer classes this past summer. I have made so many friends, grown closer to professors who actually care about my future, and traveled the world on a study abroad class! My time at UNF will never be replaced. With classes starting for me tomorrow, I am filled with butterflies to walk back on campus and be surrounded around the environment I can call home away from home. If you are concerned with finding a location that will fit you best, then take my advice! Do not put this school off, you will never regret it!
Am learning a lot Entering my senior year at University of North Florida, my learning has most definitely increased. I have become knowledgeable on more topics than I ever thought possible. Not only have a gained my own personal feeling towards topics, but I have learned how to read into other's feelings as well. When the work learning is used, this does not limit to book knowledge. I have learned more about life, my future, personal skills, and most importantly, I have learned about myself! By getting involved in extracurricular activities: Kappa Delta Sorority, International Business Society, and Women in Business, I have been provided with so many more opportunities than I thought possible. I have learned that I want to travel around the world for a living. I have learned that I have such a huge passion for helping people in my community and in need. And I have learned that as a female, I CAN and WILL make it far in business. These are skills I would never have learned from anywhere besides University of North Florida.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who love wildlife. Students who like big rooms. Students who love the beach. Students who love all of the perks and clubs that come with Universities!
Tips for prospective students Don't go here if you don't like the wildlife.
Bang for the buck The rooms are very big for the freshman and you get all of the good things you'd get at any other University, plus beauty and quick access to all of the goods that come around the school.
Will enjoy being here Not only are there tons of amazing clubs they offer, they are literally 10 minutes away from the beach and are super close to Saint. Augustine. There is nature everywhere and the campus is extremely beautiful. The mall is right next to it as well! There's no way someone could not enjoy being there.
Will learn a lot Almost all of the teachers at this school have attained the highest degree in their field! You know you'll learn something if the teachers know just about everything about their subject. They also have an excellent open door policy! I can't wait to start.

Tips for prospective students Get involved. It's my third year here and I finally decided to start getting involved. I joined a sorority this year and so far it has been amazing and I've met some incredible girls.
Bang for the buck Tuition seems like it goes up in price every year.
Am enjoying being here Although UNF was my last resort, I was meant to be here. I couldn't imagine myself being anywhere else.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone who values getting a good education without being a number in a lecture hall.
Tips for prospective students Apply early and don't go in with your heart set on one major or program. Learn about anything and everything that interests you. You might be surprised what you end up studying.
Bang for the buck Less than half the price of some larger schools but for an almost identical education. It's always one of the best valued school for what you'll get for the tuition.
Am enjoying being here Tons of free stuff for students to do, and even more for the residents. Gorgeous campus to enjoy.
Am learning a lot You can get an amazing education at UNF so long as you are willing to work for it. The professors are all top notch.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UNF is great for students who want a private school feel. There is a lot of school pride, and most of the class sizes are reasonable. The university is also making renovations which include a new dining hall and gymnasium. So if you are a progressive type of student, UNF is for you.
Tips for prospective students If you plan on attending UNF, I recommend living on campus and joining a club. It is a great way to meet friends with similar interests. Make sure to take advantage of the free tutoring.
Bang for the buck The student government is very active and there are a large amount of clubs for students to join. Osprey Productions host free events weekly, the game room has free games to play seven days a week, and if you live on campus the RA's host free weekly events too.
Am enjoying being here Even though there is not a football team, the school spirit is strong. There are so many clubs and sports activities that there is always something to do. Unfortunately there is a lot of construction going on and they are taking a long time to complete the projects.
Am learning a lot Many of the chemistry and math professors are foreign and have strong accents that are hard to understand. However, the school provides many wonderful tutoring services and most of the professors are willing to help, so learning is made easy.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students It's great for everyone, really. College in general, of course, is for those who want to learn and get a degree to have a better chance in the workforce, and at UNF if you work hard you'll get ahead--what with honors programs, tutoring, and advising. So it's good for people who want to learn. It's very close to the beach, do you like to be tan? Cool, you can do that here. Osprey Productions has a budget of over $4 million dollars every year. Do you like to party? Do you like concerts? Fantastic, UNF is the host to at least one concert per semester. This (2011) semester we hosted LMFAO and Jason Derulo.
Bang for the buck The tuition is fairly low, so along with all your scholarships and grants you will likely be paying less than $2,000 out of pocket, so grab a subsidized loan from Uncle Sam and you're golden.
Am enjoying being here The campus is compact, which means if you're living on campus you can walk pretty much anywhere within 15 minutes. Coupled with the fact that Town Center is less than two miles away and this campus is like a dream come true. Everything you need or want is within easy access here. Except rock climbing, but the upcoming wellness center will amend that.
Am learning a lot As long as you put forth the effort and go to class, you will learn everything you need to know from your professors. They are a lot smarter than you may give them credit for.

Categories Comments Campus Safety numerous saftey polls.
Greek Life 24 social fraternity and a couple of other types of fraternities (eg. delta sigma pi, the business professional fraternity in coggin college of business)
Clubs and Activities numerous clubs and activities thrown by the clubs and student government. and a big greek life.
Great for these types of students a student who loves small classes and lots of interaction between students and their future after college.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus well the college is located in a nature preserve so most of the campus is untouchable which is beautiful to take a hike through.
Bang for the buck beautiful campus and great teachers.
What to do for fun lots of sport activities, concerts, movies, etc
Food and Dining the food is good just a little pricey. good food plans if you like that.
Dorm Life there arr multiple dorms all different types. you have to live on campus your freshman/ first year there. great way to meet friends.
Academic Rigor they want you to succeed with the best knowledge. it is a little challenge depending on the major or college you are in within the school (e.g. business majors are in the coggin college of business within unf) but a good challenge.
Tips for prospective students if you want a small university with more interaction between students and professors this is the college for you.
In three sentences a great school with a lot to offer. it is small, quiet and perfect for the student who wants a smaller university feel. they want you to succeed the best way possible.

What to do for fun jacksonville is a great town, the beach is 10 minutes away, osprey sports, op events, float in the lazy river.
Food and Dining chartwells has a monopoly on food service. when it is good, it's good, when it's not, it sucks.
Dorm Life i live in the fountains, the dorm with the lazy river, and it is like living in a 5 star hotel. love it.
Academic Rigor the gen-eds are fairly easy, but once your major coursework starts it gets much harder.

Categories Comments Campus Safety very good.
Clubs and Activities unf hosts many clubs, but sometimes i wish for one that would be easy to meet and greet with, on campus. many of our clubs focus on religion or ethnicity, or greek life. when i came, i wanted smaller, more hobby-like clubs that i could relax and socialize in. thing about unf though, it's easy to make and get funding for your club, so i might toy with the idea when i get the chance to really focus on it.
Great for these types of students unf welcomes all students, but if you don't plan on networking or getting out of your dorm room, then it probably won't be a fun experience.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus we have a lot of weird little areas to meet, socialize or study privately. i'm in my third semester and am still finding out a lot of new areas in unf that i could definitely use. oh, and watch out for the geese!
Bang for the buck because unf is still growing, there's a lot of chances for you as a student to make a difference on campus. just try to get into things and meet people--it's the best way to see everything unf is offering to you as a student. the professors and counselors are also fun people to network with and can help out a lot. strive to do the best you can, and unf will be a rewarding experience.
What to do for fun anything! clubs, game rooms, community service, different unf sponsored activities on campus every month, nature trails, pools, huge gym, movie nights, festivals, and parties on campus! basketball games, anything...
Food and Dining food on campus can be healthy, or incredibly unhealthy. as it is, there are many options around campus if you do not want to use a meal plan.
Dorm Life good area, and they have resident assistants for every floor that work to include you into the unf community. there are different advantages to living in different residence halls, make sure to check them all out and see what looks best for you!
Academic Rigor the classes are college level and require college level effort. some are easier and some are harder than others.
Tips for prospective students college is not hs, when you enroll here, you need to strive for the best in every class. that means no skipping, taking good notes, and studying everyday. make sure you plan ahead and get into good habits fast.
In three sentences wonderful environment for student success; many opportunities for students to strive and accomplish their goals. unf is also located in a pretty area, with places around it that make it a good place to dorm.

Categories Comments What to do for fun st. johns town center & avenues mall (shopping, which i love and i always get my fix since both are really close to the campus) tinseltown & regal 20 (theatres, my recommendation...regal is a little bit farther away, closer to avenues mall, but on sundays movies are $5) latitude 30 as well as mulitple other bowling lanes the beach!! (which is where i love to be during most of the year) plenty of clubs st. augustine the landing which is downtown and they have concerts and performances and an annual jazz festival museums & libraries concerts 2 hours by drive away from orlando which can be a fun weekend trip 4-5 hours away from miami
Food and Dining starbucks (you pay more on campus than up at the town center where there are like 4 other starbucks) sbarro (never actually been in there) outtakes (basically a convenience store, where they charge you more haha, but they do have dunkin' donuts coffee which is way cheaper than starbucks coffee but also not as good. to me at least.) the boathouse (our restaurant, that charges restaurant prices but in my opinion the food is like 3 star) freshens (serves sushi, milkshakes and ice cream...in the same place...beside each other *shudder) campus cafeteria (it's alright, i've only been there once...the meal plans are insane)
Dorm Life my recommendations for student living: the village and the fountains of course the aforementioned are upperclassmen level housing but there is also off campus student housing, the district and the flats as well as other places that offer student discounts to college students. the underclassmen housing on campus isn't bad...i mean if you want that whole roommate, common-room, immersement in interaction of dorm living then yeah, the cove, crossings and landing are for you (it wasn't for me)...but if not there are many other options available to you.
Academic Rigor some of these professors are hardcore! not to scare people but they are serious about what they teach. some professors are pretty laid back, almost to the point where you might wonder how they are still teaching... and most professors out at unf are rather in the middle. they have some serious stuff to teach that they want you to learn but they can also make class time enjoyable, or at least they put in an effort to. don't ever let the first week of classes fool you into thinking it's going to be hard or easy, it'll usually surprise you.
Tips for prospective students beware the prices around unf! don't take me too seriously, no, things are rather expensive (food, starbucks is more on campus than off campus, the campus bookstore, tickets from the police, haha) but with all the concerts and entertainment programs they have available to students that you get into for free (sometimes you can even bring a +1) it's pretty cool. it's not perfect but it's a pretty campus and even though it's kind of big (16,000+ students/faculty) i feel like people still make the time to try to make personal connections with people and help you out in any way that they can. you don't have to come into college with a plan, things change a lot with people out here but just come with an open mind and want to be here and the people you meet and your experiences is what endears unf to people.
In three sentences i would rate unf at 3.8 out of 5. it's a pretty good school and i'm really enjoying my time here. i'm not especially involved in too much but they provide so many opportunities for students i think it's impossible to be here for four years and not get involved in something.

Great for these types of students great for student that aren't looking for the over the top college, very quiet and low key campus!
Bang for the buck we get killed with the building fees
What to do for fun two game rooms, and awesome student life that always has something going on, and the mall is literally 2 minutes away!
Food and Dining they are working on it! building a new food facility but we have a couple of great places starbucks, quiznos, and banging burger joint and a taco place and sbarro's!
Dorm Life the resident assistants are awesome. there is always something to do on campus. you will love the life in the fountains its luxurious but fun at the same time!
Academic Rigor this school is not a easy school for people who thinks they are going to come here for a quick and easy college degree. you will have to put work into it but it will be worth it.
Tips for prospective students visit the campus because for the tour guides attitude you will get a feel for this school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus, being in a building with a bank, has very adequate security in place.
Great for these types of students anyone who needs and wants to go to school but does not have the time to attend more than once a week.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the main campus shares its building with a bank. the campus is on two separate floors.
Food and Dining in the main campus building, on the first floor is a cafe` where you are able to go, sit down, and enjoy a meal while studying or spending time with your friends.
Dorm Life unfortunately in my opinion, university of phoenix doesn't have dorms.
Academic Rigor the classes i have attended are very well taught. the professors are very knowledgeable in their respective fields, and are willing to work with you as long as you are willing to communicate with them.
Tips for prospective students just give them a call and talk with an enrollment adviser. they are able to assist you with any question that you can come up with. if they are unable to answer your question right then and there they will find out for you and get back with you.
In three sentences the main campus is very easy to get to from where i live. everyone who works there wants to see me succeed, and are very friendly. i get calls on a weekly basis from my enrollment adviser who checks up on me to see how i am doing in class.

Greek Life none available like you think of from tv. the few that are available anyone that fits the needs of the group can join.

Dorm Life Dorm life is okay. RAs have different activities for the residence but it is nothing spectacular.
Academic Rigor The professors are good, then again it depends on who you choose as a professor. There is never an easy way out, you have to apply yourself.
Tips for prospective students Apply yourself, take your academics serious, and get involved.
In three sentences The teachers are excellent. There are a lot of clubs and extra curricular activities to get involved with. There is a lot of togetherness.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Everywhere you stand on campus, you will see blue poles with a telephone. For any reason at all, being that you feel you are being followed, unsafe, etc, the campus police are never too far away to respond. The campus police system are fully certified police officers, with all arresting rights. The most common crime is parking pass theft. Crimes of opportunity are the most prevalent. Violent crimes are very, very rare.
Greek Life Greek life is very diverse, for many different interests. There are no Greek houses yet but they are working on it. Sorority prices are more costly than Fraternity. They say that those who go Greek, get better grades. The cost of Greek is what filtered me out, however. I am not a terribly social person, so that would have been somewhat infringing, as well.
Clubs and Activities LGBT, Student Ministries, Student Government, Greek, Philanthropy, Osprey Productions, which is the media relations department; The Spinnaker is the news paper, taking student contributors.
Great for these types of students This is a great college for those looking for a smaller population, which is about 16,000, at public school prices. Less than half of the student population lives on campus, so there is not an overwhelming amount of students to overcrowd the campus. The campus is small enough that you don't need a car to get from one end to the next, just a skateboard or the shuttle, Campus Connector. This was the best fit for me based on size of campus, student population and proximity to home in Orlando.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Being able to SWOOP is a must. That is what the mascot Osprey does to it's meal of choice. The Student Union has been voted one of the nicest in the country. An unusual activity is having to wait for the geese to cross the road, and yes, the use the crosswalk. They take their time too. The Green is the area where many students hang out, plus it's the free speech area and that can get out of hand with overzealous speakers. Skateboarding is the most popular form of wheeled transportation, non-motorized.
Bang for the buck After the first year, getting off the meal plan saves money. There are much more economical ways to eat. Renting books or getting e-books is much cheaper way to go. Check out the bulletin boards for ride-share programs and people selling or needing to buy items.
What to do for fun The weather is wonderful in Florida so hanging out of the dorms is always nice. There are large sitting areas all over the campus, so there is no shortage on areas to hangout with friends, just watch out for the Canadian Geese contributions, it's everywhere.
Food and Dining The new UNF dining hall is nearing completion. All incoming freshman must be on the meal plan. There is a lot of food and also a lot of options based on your eating style.
Dorm Life The dorms are nice, some are newer than others. The communities of the dorms helps you stay plugged into the college life and there are more opportunities network, study and hang out. Someone who is feeling homesick can benefit from the dorm life. Everyone is very friendly and helpful
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is what you make it. There is an Honors dorm area with areas specified for your major, if you choose to join. No college is ever easy, but you can do well if you apply yourself.
Tips for prospective students Get your applications in early and apply for the local admission clinics in your area, if you are lucky enough to have one. Early application process is key, especially if you have borderline grades or ACT scores. Take advantage of the Living and Learning Communities.
In three sentences The students and administration are very down-to-earth. The population of this school is just the right fit, so the feeling of getting swallowed up in the numbers is not an issue. The school spirit of SWOOP is alive and well, but not overwhelming that it takes precedent over the studies.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Safety is very important and held in high regard on campus. Even at the late hours you will find campus PD patrolling on high looking for suspicious activiy. When you walk 10 feet you will find an emergency station that will immediately patch you through to a campus PD officer.
Great for these types of students This school is great students who learn better with one on one attention academically, and enjoy a down-home environment with a great deal of diversity among its students and faculty.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Trees trees trees everywhere you look on campus. If you are a fan of wildlife and natural beauty you are in for a treat. The campus has miles of nature trails that are often enjoyed by many students.
Bang for the buck There are multiple options for dining and living on campus that are acquainted with the students pockets. On campus living has great dorms that range from 1500 to 3500 dollars depending on the dorm. Food is the cheapest in the cafeteria and I enjoyed most of the dishes. On nights where I did not care for the food I would go to the multiple other restaurants in the student union and dorm lobby.
What to do for fun From the gameroom with all of the latest video game systems to the river canoeing that is available on campus there is never a dull moment. Students will enjoy multiple concerts as well as special events on campus.
Food and Dining On campus food is delicious for the price you pay if you purchase a meal plan. There are alot restaurants in the surrounding area that accept the dollars you put on your student ID card. The first week of classes is always the best because there is nothing but free food.
Dorm Life I lived on campus for 2 years. It was a unique experience. Being an only child and coming from a single parent house hold the adjustment was challenging. I suggest finding a friend ahead of time to dorm with.
Academic Rigor The degree program you choose varies in difficulty time and effort are required. Expect alot of one on one attention and professors who are more than happy to assist you, if you show dedication.
Tips for prospective students Be ready for sunny days and great weather here in Florida. The college offers great degree programs that are nationally recognized. The college is steadily growing and adding to its campus.
In three sentences This university provides a challenging and rewarding experience in and out of the classroom. Both extracurricular and academic activities are preparing me for the work force.

Categories Comments What to do for fun University of North Florida offers plentiful activities for fun. With a variety of clubs and social groups located on campus there are endless opportunities to travel and volunteer around the campus. Also, there's a gaming center with several Xboxs and Playstation 3s.
Food and Dining There are several small restaurants at the University of North Florida, including Quiznos and Sbarros pizzeria. There is also a dine-in restaurant, called The Boathouse, and several small convenient-store-like shops with snacks and drinks.
Tips for prospective students If you're just starting to attend the University of North Florida, be sure you know where your classrooms are located on campus and know the best times to find a parking space.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I love the fact that UNF has many safety stations all over the campus. They have phones that connect you directly to campus police if you ever need assistance.
Food and Dining UNF has several restaurants on campus that are actually really good. There is also a food court that is convenient when you don't have a lot of time between your classes.
Dorm Life I lived in the dorm my first year at UNF and really enjoyed it. My resident assistant was really great about organizing events for people to get to know each other.
Academic Rigor I have felt challenged in every course that I have taken at UNF. I was also fortunate to have extremely helpful professors when I was enrolled there as well.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you frequently check your mywings account and UNF email. Almost all important information will be sent to your email.
In three sentences UNF not only has a beautiful campus, but they have also done a lot of renovations to the buildings recently that make learning much easier.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UNF is the third safest school in the state of Florida and our biggest crime on campus is petty theft. Our University Police Department is here as protection 24/7, if you ever need an escort back to your car, dorm or another building you can always call our UPD. Being on campus for four years, I have always felt extremely safe and protected.
Greek Life 11% of our student population is Greek, but about 90% of our campus leadership is Greek, this being students who have positions in Student Government, Campus Wide Committees, Tour Guides, Orientation Leaders, and club members. Going Greek was the best decision of my life and at UNF we are small enough to be able to work together and truly be here for each organization in means of membership, leadership and philanthropic events. Each organization has a philanthropy or charity they support and every other organization does the most they can to support eachother. UNF truly is a one of a kind Greek Community.
Clubs and Activities Currently, UNF has about over 250 clubs on campus! If we do not have a club that you want, all you have to do is go to Club Alliance, an agency of Student Government, and have at least 10 members and a faculty advisor and the club can be started! If you want to make a peanut butter and jelly club, get 10 of your friends who like pb&j sandwiches and it is as easy as that!
Great for these types of students If you like to go to the beach, love laid back and easy going people then UNF is the perfect place for you to be! We truly believe that since we are small for a Florida school and so close to the beach that UNF truly is a school that students come to not to get lost in a sea of people but to make your own name for yourself no matter who or what you know.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus UNF is located on a nature preserve, we sit on 1300 acres, 350 of those acres will never be built on because those are what we call wetland areas. UNF is located in Jacksonville, which is the largest city in the nation by means of area the city covers, and yet UNF is able to maintain a quaint atmosphere even though the campus is surrounded by a huge city on the outside of campus.
Bang for the buck UNF has been ranked one of the most valuable colleges in the nation by the Princeton Review. If you want to see your professor every day in class, not have a lecture hall larger than 170 students and be able to go to your own professors office hours then UNF is the perfect choice for you!
What to do for fun Living so close to the beach and so close to downtown, what isn't there to do?! Jacksonville is able to offer free country concerts, beach days and able to become involved in great organizations!
Food and Dining UNF is currently building a new dining facility to be open in August of 2013. It will be four stories with different stations ranging from pizza to organic foods. Dining on campus is not just for freshman but something every student at UNF takes advantage of!
Dorm Life UNF's typical freshman dorms were originally made for three people however, now only two students are in these dorms. You share a bathroom with one other person, there are three closets to split and you have plenty of room to put anything you want in your dorm! Living in the dorms was and continues to be the greatest experience.
Academic Rigor No matter what school you attend always know that academics come first and fun comes second. However, I truly believe that learning in college is a lot of fun because it is the classes you will be taking for your future. If you study and put in 100% you will then get back 100%, don't procrastinate and don't forget to ask questions or ask for help!
Tips for prospective students Get involved immediately, serving as a tour guide, orientation leader, Senator in Student Government, a Chair of a campus wide committee and being involved in Greek Life has truly molded me into the woman I am today. If you go straight to class and straight home then you truly aren't getting your college experience. Go outside of your comfort zone and you truly will not regret anything you end up doing in your college years.
In three sentences Coming to UNF was the best decision of my life. If you want a school that is ten minutes from the beach and downtown all while having the opportunity to immerse yourself in a small school atmosphere. You get the one-on-one relationships with actual professors you won't get anywhere else.

Greek Life We have all types of greek life on campus.
Clubs and Activities We have over 180 clubs, there is something for everyone.
Great for these types of students Goal Driven, Ambitious
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Boathouse is where you can get restaurant style food (Chili's or Applebees) and hang out with your friends, located in the Student Union.
Bang for the buck Not that expensive compared to other school, unless your from out of State but its still cheaper than most.
What to do for fun Getting involved is the main way to have fun and make new friends
Food and Dining It not the home cooking that your used to, but they did build a new cafe so maybe it will get better. They also added a Chik-fil-A and a Papa John pizza to the dinning options though.
Dorm Life They are currently building new dorms as we speak.
Academic Rigor It really depends on your major though.
Tips for prospective students Do as many extra curricular activities as you can while in high school, and when you get here get involved, there are over 180 clubs and many sororities and fraternities to get involved in as well.

What to do for fun Town center mall is very close by but most stores are fairly expensive

Categories Comments Campus Safety Peppered throughout the campus are safety poles. If at any time a student is in an emergency, feels undsafe, or even just needs a ride to a particular building, all he or she must do is press the button on the safety pole and an officer will arive within a minute.
Greek Life All 23 sororities/fraternities raise an average of 7 million dollars for the community each year.
Clubs and Activities Any club that you cannot find at the University of North Florida--and believe me, you really have to look hard to find a club that is not already established--you can just gather three members and, with an administrator's endorsement, you will create your own club!
Great for these types of students The University of North Florida is ideal for a student who wants to go to a large campus and not feel like just another number, like at some campuses with an inflated number of students in its population. The average class teacher-to-student ratio is 1 to 12, just as an example.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus At the University of North Florida, there is an abundance of geese. They practically outnumber the student population! Therefore, some fraternities and sororities at the university use goose-shaped trophies as awards!
Bang for the buck The price of a student may be different, but every student experiences opportunities to help them build character, make friends, and grow as young adults invariably. You really must see the university for yourself to see just how wide the gamut of opportunities is for students.
What to do for fun UNF is situated in the ever-changing town of Jacksonville, Florida. There is always something to do! Theme parks like Lego Land, white-sanded beaches, and all of the fine dining you could ask for await students who attend the University of North Florida.
Food and Dining There is a belief that college students will join clubs, come to socials, and attend meetings for the prospect of a meal. At the University of North Florida, not only is one's student e-mail inbox constantly filling with e-mails about dining opportunities around campus, but various clubs post signs in the windows of buildings to announce free food to all who join in on a club meeting. If snacks are not the true interest, then the dining experiences at UNF are still commendable for culinary cuisine! If the campus restaurants and cafes still fail to slake one's hunger, then not even a mile away from campus exists a colorful array of restaurants that offer special discounts to students!
Dorm Life All of the dorms are fully stocked with cooking appliances, washing machines, and just an all-around great atmosphere. Seeing as how the university is founded on acres of nature preserves, athletes have swift access to run, bike on, or simply traverse the miles of nature trails around the dorms.
Academic Rigor The classes are some of the most challenging a student can take, yet they are equally as rewarding. The classes are not merely hours of lectures and note-taking; in fact, a majority of the classes offer a break portion in which students are allowed to complete class discussions in small groups outside of the classroom! Taking classes at the university is ultimatley what you make of it.
Tips for prospective students Any prospective students to the University of North Florida should seriously consider all of the global influence that UNF has to offer its students. Between all of the outreach programs, study abroad opportunities, and foreign assimilation programs that the University of North Florida offers, there is now wonder why UNF has global renown.
In three sentences Oh my goodness what an awesome university! Not only is the University of North Florida unique in the sense that it is a big school with a small school feeling, but simply the level of care and attention that all staff give to students is unrivaled by any other university that I have visited. Even the intimidating university police officers will kindly approach you, greet you, show you around campus--even offer to buy you a snack from one of the student union cafes!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The occasional weird broken law. Had a rash of parking lot robberies that that were very strange. One arson in an elevator over spring break. College kids are idiots.
Greek Life Always thought of this as a waste of time, life, and money.
Clubs and Activities Same as nearly all other schools.
Great for these types of students This is a heavily Baptist city, so expect quite a few closed-minded townie students. That actually kind of blew me away.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The usual fraternities and sororities if you like paying for friends.
Bang for the buck Like most of the other universities in Florida, they offer quite a bit for your money. The usual sports and exercise areas, a large library (with very few group study rooms), a pseudo-clinic for when you're not feeling well, etc. Lots of the usuals, and the price for classes is quite decent.
What to do for fun There's a recreation room that looks to be fun for those that like hanging out with the few people that NEVER leave that game seats there. Swimming pool with odd hours and a confusing schedule, and the athletic area that is FINALLY finished and is amazing.
Food and Dining Like all on-campus food places, overpriced and franchised. Boring and safe. Emphasis on boring. Typical MTV crap shown on the televisions (vote for your music video!); God-forbid they have CNN or MSNBC on in a place of learning.
Dorm Life I have no idea, I live off campus.
Academic Rigor My program (psychology) takes professionalism quite seriously.
Tips for prospective students Get familiar with the location of UNF One Stop. That building will more than likely fix any problems you ever have, but it's not in a conspicuous location.
In three sentences I like the open feel to the campus. Haven't met a teacher that wasn't enthusiastic about the program and keeping things interesting. There needs to be a psych Ph.D. program, it's kind of dumb that there isn't one yet.

Categories Comments Campus Safety While walking through and across campus, there are emergency boxes placed everywhere. They offer a good amount of safety tips also.
Great for these types of students This campus is great for nature-lovers!
What to do for fun They have concerts here every semester and small events and movies, which is nice for when you have the time. Also, the beach is close! On campus there is also kayaking and they just built a challenge course. If you decide to live in the Fountains they have 2 pools, one is an active pool (with lap pool), and a lazy river.
Food and Dining The Boathouse restaurant on campus is a pretty nice place to grab lunch or dinner. There is a bar there, as well as plenty of televisions to sit, eat, and watch sporting events. The cafeteria is also nice, however right now they are in the process of building a new cafe.
Dorm Life Being a transfer student and never living on campus before, I really like the dorm life here. There is plenty to do and as I mentioned earlier the staff is very friendly.
Academic Rigor Depending which class you take will determine how difficult the material and the flexibility of the course. This also depends on the instructor you take, but overall I do not think the classes are overly tough as long as you put in the time to study.
Tips for prospective students It is a pretty large campus, so starting out when looking for classes be sure to have a map because the building numbers do not make much sense. Also, for me, the classrooms seem to be a little chilly so you may want to bring a light jacket to class.
In three sentences I think that this University is very student friendly and the faculty here are willing to help the students out. Also, the campus is very nice and it has a lot of nature. So far so good!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The UPD (University Police Department) is always around patrolling, whether it be driving, walking, or biking. They have blue safety polls with red buttons on them. If you hit the button for any reason, even if it's just because you would feel safer with someone walking you back to your dorm from the library or where ever, a police officer will promptly show up and assist you with whatever it is you need.
Great for these types of students Great for students who love a friendly and peaceful environment. There are new facilities opening in the Fall 2012 that are supposed to be wonderful.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus is on a nature preserve so there is a lot of beautiful scenery around including, nature trails and a lake you can go kayaking on. If you want a quiet place to sit and do homework, relax, or just think you will be able to find it here. It is just minutes away from the St. John Town Center which is a mall with many stores and restaurants. It is also just about a 15 minute drive from the beaches.
Bang for the buck You get what you pay for and more. While the academic spectrum is great so is the social part which is equally important to many students.
What to do for fun There are many clubs you can join, if there is not one the tickles your fancy then you can start one as long as you do it the right way and through the right people. There are free concerts with big named people at them. They have game nights, karaoke, open mic nights, raves, trivia and many more things held on campus.
Food and Dining When people think about school food they think blah. This was not true for the food on campus. There were many options of different restaurants and kinds of food. When buying food from the school there was always a different meal every night that was healthy and there is a salad bar. It was very rare that one would walk into the student union and not be able to find something to eat.
Dorm Life I found living in the dorms to be very helpful in making new friends and getting use to and involved in the campus. There always seemed to be an activity to do or something to get in to. Even during the times there was nothing planned it was nice to just walk around campus, see people, and enjoy the beautiful scenery all around.
Academic Rigor The classes are geared towards helping you. While some are more challenging then others they are still all very useful and goal oriented. In general, the teachers are very helpful and will do whatever they can to help you.
Tips for prospective students When you start be the person that is outgoing, even if that isn't normally you. If you are that person for just one day you will be able to make friends quickly and easily, everyone is very welcoming. Regarding classes, be attentive and when you're told something is online then take the time to learn to use that tool. If you have problems with an online tool or just a question about the class do not be afraid to email or meet with the teacher, they are there to help and want to help you succeed but can't do that if you leave them in the dark about the problems you are having.
In three sentences In just one year this school has taught me a lot. I have learned how to be my own person and not worry about what others think, there are so many people that you're always included. The academic setting is challenging but very rewarding!

Categories Comments Campus Safety We have our own police department on campus; therefore, there is no issue getting an officer if a problem arises. They alert us immediately with phone calls, e-mails, and signs of what is going on, so we stay very up to date. I do not think, however, that the police on bicycles are necessary for on campus during the day. All they do is write tedious tickets; therefore, no one appreciates them.
Greek Life Personally, I am not too fond of Greek life. A lot of students do enjoy it, but I dropped my sorority in order to accomplish more of what I consider my priorities. They do a lot on campus and off for the community, but it just was not my niche. I did give it a try though!
Clubs and Activities There are a ton of different clubs and activities I've already mentioned earlier on that there is no excuse not to get involved. There are cultural clubs, media clubs, sports clubs, academic clubs, and so much more. And the great thing: If UNF does not offer what you would like, applying for a new club is so easy!
Great for these types of students Whether you are quiet, a social butterfly, an athlete, or artsy, UNF offers a niche for everyone. The dynamics and facets of this schools are innumerable; therefore, almost any type of student will fit in. There are cultural clubs and Greek life. There are intramural and school sports. There is Student Government and tutoring. There are so many areas for any type of student.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Since UNF is only about 30 years old, we are continuously creating new traditions. A long-standing tradition is our Homecoming week and the events that take place. There are quite a few locations on campus that are very unusual as well such as the bridge and the boathouse.
Bang for the buck I give UNF a 5 star because it is always hosting free events. Some of these events such as shows, sports games, and concerts can cost a pretty penny outside of school, but they use our money to offer us entertainment as well as a good faculty and curriculum. They use my tuition to acquire some of the best professors from all around the world. My education has definitely been worthwhile even in this past year.
What to do for fun There are so many ways to have fun at UNF. There are concerts such as LMFAO and Cobra Starship, comedy shows and famous comedians such as Ralphie May, movie nights, free food cookouts, intramural sports, school sports games, and so much more! I love the on-campus environment so much. There is always something to do before class, in-between, or at night.
Food and Dining UNF's food and dining (meal plan) has its good days and its bad. There isn't much selection; therefore, I didn't even bother getting a meal plan. If you want something other than cafeteria food, the pricing is outrageous. These areas do offer pretty good food, but not for the price. I do know that North Florida is currently building a new dining hall that will offer a bigger variety to its students.
Dorm Life Personally, I don't like dorm life. Sharing every minute of the same room, same bathroom, and living area was not my cup of tea. I was told I would meet tons of people, and I hardly met anyone. Some people I talked to loved dorm life and found some of their best friends. I give it a three because even though I did not like the set up, I had a huge room compared to most colleges. We had our own bathroom and not community style. It was very clean when we got there, and there were ultimately no problems.
Academic Rigor There are always the hard teachers, the easy teachers, and the standard teacher. I have encountered almost all harder teachers so far, and I have only been here one year. The coursework sometimes demands tons of studying time, while others have more homework. You definitely leave classes with learning a ton of new material though, which is an awesome feeling. I know my money and aid is not going to waste!
Tips for prospective students Do not hesitate to get involved. It is your campus now, and it has so many chances to get involved or have something fun to do. You're paying for these activities through tuition, so why not take advantage of it all? Almost every single person I have met is very friendly, so being new will not be a problem at all when it comes to getting acclimated.
In three sentences North Florida is very interactive with its students and offers many ways to get involved. With its technology and innovative tools, North Florida offers so many opportunities. The faculty, staff, and students at this university are very friendly and welcoming.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck I feel as if i got the best bang for my buck. Including the dorm fees the class fees and the dinning fees. Everything was worth is and the school provides many extra activities, help such as free tutoring and food in the dinning center that those fees cover.
What to do for fun I keep myself involved in many clubs. When I have free time I love spending it with a group of people that I know i share common interests in. Other then the clubs I enjoy the pool/lazy river, tennis courts, ropes course, and nature preserve walk.
Food and Dining The food is gourmet, home cooking, healthy, and delicious. There is something for everybody to enjoy. Whether you are a meat eater or vegan; coffee drinker or smoothy drinker. There is always food easily available and fast.
Dorm Life Dorm life is amazing. The rooms and amenities are as if you are living in a five star hotel. The rooms aren't too cramped or old. There are many things like a convenient store, gym, pool, tennis courts, etc.
Academic Rigor This college has a wide range of classes. Some are simple and some i would consider almost impossible. But as long as you study and keep your mind set on finishing college then you should be oaky. There is also free tutoring for every single class if you needed a little extra help.
Tips for prospective students The number one tip i would give to any student is GET INVOLVED. If sports isn't your thing then you can join a club. This college has a club for every interest you could possibly have. But if you don't find a club that fits you make one, its simple and fun. If a club isn't what you're looking for then join a sorority or fraternity. Theres also student council if you're interested. Just get involved and enjoy your life in college.
In three sentences This college is not only very welcoming but helpful every step of the way. The staff is very involved and willing to help any student in need, and the student population is also extremely kind as well. Another great factor of this college is the beautiful campus, town, and weather in Jacksonville Florida.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I dont even look over my shoulder when walking alone on campus at night. You feel so safe and secure!
Greek Life Basically what the school recolves around. But if you are not iterested dont worry! Neither am i, and i still have plenty to do and plenty of friends. Also, greek activities are open to everyone. The parties are pretty awesome as well.
Clubs and Activities SOOO MANY!!!!
Great for these types of students Anyone, really.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have these people that come stand in the green who yell crazy things about the bible and god and such, its quite fun to stand there and argue back with them. Just, beware, if you are super religious it can get offensive. But its funny to hear the things they say. Brother Micah is the funniest. (we also have a bunch of real religious clubs that are a lot of fun to go to; but dont get the wrong idea)
Bang for the buck We are one of the cheapest schools in florida. Our campus is small, but not too small. All in all It is beautiful, and the education is great, everyone is very willing to help.
What to do for fun On campus, who we call OP (Osprey Productions) puts on many activities for student to come to. There are a ton of clubs to join. We have a lazy river and 2 swimming pools. You can rent canoes and kayaks for free, alone with a bunch of other gear. Also, we just got a ropes course with a Zip Line, cant wait to try that out. Off campus there is shopping, we have some of the best malls! As well as way too many things to name. Not even a mile off campus is our Town Center which has over 100 things to do right there. Not to mention, we have a bus that goes to the town center, so you dont have to have a car or use your gas.
Food and Dining Only downside is no refills, but with this new cafe, who knows what they'll do!
Dorm Life Because the school is so small and a lot of people commute there were not very many people in the dorms. The Fountains and Crossings are a tad far of a walk to campus but the best way to meet peope. This coming fall, however, freshman must live on campus there first year which i think is a great idea beause you will meet a lot more people!
Academic Rigor Gen eds are a little tough to get through, there arent the best teachers but once you get into your major everything is wonderful!
Tips for prospective students Live on Campus! Do summer session! Get out and make friends by attending week of welcome (WOW) and participating in campus activities. Dont be shy! Everyone is very nice. Lastly, check out greek life!
In three sentences The school is very small but planning to enlarge itself within the next few years. A new gym has been built, that people who have toured it says is awesome, as well as a new cafe, which we dont know about yet, all opening fall of 2012. The only downside is watching out for goose poop!

Categories Comments What to do for fun Once again, I have not officially started my college experience yet but im sure there will plenty of enjoyable activities to do both on campus and off, we're going to be in Jacksonville for crying out loud!
Food and Dining The food stops seem normal, and I know they are currently in the process of building a new three or four story cafeteria which will be a nice addition to the campus, since there is not one there at the time.
Dorm Life I hear good things about the dorms, so I look forward to living on campus with my already chosen roommate!
Academic Rigor Haven't taken any classes yet, but hopefully not too difficult, yet just enough to push to do work a bit. Of course they better be enjoyable too!
Tips for prospective students I'm not sure what to say, come and look for yourself. Check out the campus and talk to some professors and see how you like it! Nobody can make your mind up about such a huge decision for you.
In three sentences The university is well known by many people, who all say it to be an amazing and good school. Its class sizes seem quite reasonable and comfortable, and many of the actual classes look quite interesting! The campus is BEAUTIFUL and I cannot wait to be living there for possibly the next four years!

Categories Comments Campus Safety very safe, it is located in a great area there are blue lights all over campus in case you actually have to use one, the campus security is real police officers and the dorm security is locked down so you don't have to worry about random hobos or anything.
Greek Life they don't have houses but the Greek life is very active on campus.
Clubs and Activities there is a lot to choose from, pages upon pages of active clubs.
Great for these types of students If you're outdoorsy you will love this place there are wooded paths all around campus and the campus has a rental station where you can get kayaks, canoes, and camping equipment free and take it off campus for up to a week.
Food and Dining They have a lot of options all over the map, on campus there are pizza joints, grilles, sushi bars, frozen yogurt joints, and convenience stores and off campus there are a lot of really great restaurants surrounding the campus like bahama breeze and aj's pizza.
Dorm Life The dorms have the best setup I've seen in any college I have visited, you have the option of a double and its cheaper but you can get a single room and share a bathroom with only one other person and a little kitchen with two more people. The security is great, you have to have your own key to get in your dorm room which means unless you're leaving it open your room mates can't steal your stuff.
Academic Rigor The classes are small for such a big school which is really nice because you get individualized attention and the few lecture classes have breakout sessions so you can make sure you understand the material. There are a lot of cool classes to choose from too and great study abroad options.
Tips for prospective students Take a tour! The campus is beautiful and the people are really nice. Also if a college knows you've toured it makes it just a little bit easier to get in because they know your seriously considering their school.
In three sentences A beautiful campus with lots of outdoor trails, the dorms are beautiful and spacious and the campus is fairly compact which makes walking really easy. The campus encourages biking and there are racks everywhere. The food is really good to and there are tons of options to choose from, not to mention the new gym is incredible!

Categories Comments Campus Safety As a decent looking female, I have never felt threatened or had any close calls at UNF. Sometimes I feel like it's almost too safe. We have our very own police department on campus so it's hard to get away with anything illegal.
Greek Life I didn't go Greek because of the cost. However, I have friends in Greek Life who enjoy it... but they say it's not worth the money considering UNF doesn't have frat or sorority housing so it's almost like paying a lot of money for friends.
Clubs and Activities I recommend any intramural sports (I played volleyball and softball and loved ever minute of it)... they are a great way to stay busy in a good way and have a fun.
Great for these types of students If you want a small town vibe in a big city then UNF is your place. The campus is small enough to make good friends and connect with classmates and professors.. yet Jacksonville is huge and has plenty of night life if you want to go out and have a good time. Oh and if you surf then Jax is where you want to be, the waves are sick.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Green is an open area on campus where everyone plays sports, reads, tans, or just chills in between classes. At night all of the classrooms are left unlocked.. so you can get a group of people together and do a movie night on a large screen projector.
Bang for the buck UNF is going up in price.. but I still think it's worth the price.
What to do for fun My favorite things about Jacksonville are: the Beach (surfing is a huge deal in Jax), Mavericks (the most amazing Country Club with line dancing and concerts), the churches (I recommend Beaches United Methodist on Sunday and/or Sub30 at Celebration Church on Wednesday.. even if your not a church goer you will seriously love the atmosphere).
Food and Dining I have never purchased a meal plan at UNF because I think the food is overrated and too expensive. I would honestly only consider getting a meal plan if I was an athlete for the convenience and food quantity factor
Dorm Life I lived on campus for 2 years and had great experiences there. UNF has a lot of on campus events that you don't want to miss.. living on campus makes it much easier to meet people, be involved with extracurricular activities, and motivates you to study and take classes seriously.
Academic Rigor You definitely want to take advantage of RateMyProfessor.com or talk to upperclassmen before signing up for a random professor. UNF is known for difficult professors (especially in the Science and Health departments). I have never failed a class which shows that they are definitely doable, just do yourself a favor and find out some background on your professors.. it can save your semester and your grade.
Tips for prospective students I advise you learn how to surf or skateboard because UNF is full of water loving, laid back, beach goers.
In three sentences UNF is a great school in a great location. You will meet quality people, get a adequate education, have a variety of extracurricular activities available, and have plenty of options for fun and leisure time.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UPD is very vigilant and patrols the campus frequently. Although there have been some robberies here and there.
What to do for fun Enjoy yourself! Events will come around.
Food and Dining Great restaurants and food! Yummy.
Dorm Life Don't live on campus.
Academic Rigor The academics can be challenging at times, but this is a good thing. The ability to win an award such as Dean's or President's list is set very high. Aim for the moon!
Tips for prospective students 1. Study a lot! 2. Don't procrastinate on assignments 3. Volunteer and help others 4. Pace yourself
In three sentences A school that has great curriculums. One can enjoy social events and find a student club that they can relate. There's something here for everyone.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Safety is very important to UNF. There are officers on duty at all times and there are emergency buttons all around the campus just in case something were to go wrong. I was in a situation where I needed security and they were very willing to help out.
Greek Life I am not personally involved in the Greek life, but I have friends who are involved and they love it. They enjoy their brothers and sisters and have made wonderful friends!
Clubs and Activities There are multiple clubs and activities that UNF has available that people who live on and off campus are involved in. They range in difference areas from religious, to languages, international, and Greek life. I am involved in CRU which is a Christ-centered club, American Sign Language club, and Best Buddies which helps fellow students with disabilities.
Great for these types of students UNF is not a huge school, so it's a good school for people to attend who do not want to get lost in the crowd. It's also great for the students who enjoy the beach because it is just a ten minute drive and awesome to attend when classes are out!
Bang for the buck UNF is much easier to be accepted into if you compare it to FSU or UF, but they have just as great programs! The tuition is a little cheaper and you get just as great an experience! However, college in general is not cheap.
What to do for fun There is a lot of stuff to do for fun on and off campus. My favorite things to do are kayak or canoe on the lakes, run through the trails, and go to the beach with is only ten minutes away. The clubs are great ways to find activities to do that they are hosting as well. UNF did just build a ropes course that will be open for all students!
Food and Dining I personally do not have a meal plan because I buy my own food, but the food that I have tried was very good; from what I hear the cafeteria food is not bad at all. The university has just built a new cafeteria near the freshman dorms and many people are very excited about that.
Dorm Life Dorm life has been my favorite experience while attending UNF. I have met some of my wonderful roommates who have become friends, and I get the chance to meet new people who live around me as well. The top beneficial reason for dorm life is being on campus and getting to stay out to meet for the clubs and activities that go on later at night.
Academic Rigor The academic side of UNF is very rewarding! The professors are great to work with and they are willing to help any student along the way to reach their full potential. Classes are challenging, but any hard worker can achieve their goal!
Tips for prospective students Make sure to apply for any school early and try to get as much help financially as possibly. But, the number one tip that I would give to a prospective student would be to live on campus. Dorm life is such an awesome experience to get involved with and a great way to meet new people. Another tip would be to get involved with activities on campus and join clubs!
In three sentences The University of North Florida is a great school to attend because it has amazing academics and I can't forget the beautiful campus! The campus is not too large that a student can get lost in the crowd, but not too small that there is nothing to do. It is the perfect size to stand out, make a difference, and find fun things to get involved in.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Walking the campus at night I feel no fear. There's always a security guy close by, lighted walk-ways, and safety buttons throughout the campus. I feel safe on campus.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs on campus, there is something for everyone. But by chance you don't find one that suits you, there's always the option of forming your own which isn't as hard as one may think.
Food and Dining The school has just added in a beautiful new dining facility which just adds to the many all around campus. There are so many different varieties there is no reason you have to eat the same thing every day.
Dorm Life Living on campus is great! There's always something to do around the dorms and always someone new to meet. One of the biggest advantages is being able to get to class on time and having so many people around you enrolled in the same courses to lend a helping hand.
Academic Rigor The classes range for person to person as far as academic rigor goes. Those classes you need a slower pace in, they have them. Also, the ones your just phenomenal at, they have them to make you think twice. UNF is equipped for all types of student academics.
Tips for prospective students For incoming students, I would recommend to UNF with an open mind because there are so many different areas to get plugged in and opportunities to broaden your horizons.
In three sentences UNF is a great school, it's a beautiful campus and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Not only are the people and professors nice but the learning environment is top notch. I'd rate this University a solid 8 because they're always making improvements.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Pretty safe, but as with any other place--proceed with caution.
Greek Life I am not apart of Greek life, although it is a thriving force in the UNF community.
Clubs and Activities I have not been apart of any clubs or activities.
Great for these types of students Individualistic, fun, down-to-earth
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus On the green. Many students just sit out on the grass in the middle of a great open space and hang out, each lunch, have fun, study, or whatever they choose to do.
Bang for the buck I wish it was cheaper, but then it would probably have to be free for me to be satisfied.
What to do for fun I do my own thing because I have a family of my own, but the school always has events going on.
Food and Dining Many places to enjoy a good meal.
Dorm Life I live off campus, so I am completely unfamiliar with dorm life.
Academic Rigor I can only speak of my own, and I am extremely rigorous with my academic studies.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that you have all of your financial aid lined up before you register for classes. Study, study, and study, but still have fun and enjoy life!
In three sentences The University of North Florida is an excellent school to attend. So far, I've enjoyed approximately 9 out of 10 of all may professors. The only issue I have is regarding all the fees, but I guess its necessary to attend such a great school.

Greek Life Lot's of Greek life.
What to do for fun There is the beach, the city, the new health center, aquatic center, tons of student events going on every week like movies with free food, game nights, etc.
Tips for prospective students Dear prospective students, be prepared to have to balance some hardcore academics with the lure of the Lazy River pool, the beautiful new gym, enticing inner city, or the beautiful never ending beaches.
In three sentences The University of North Florida is a fun-in-the-sun, all American college experience with the sun kissed touch of South Florida. The school has a beautiful campus, with an abundance of wildlife dispersed in every view. The academics at The University of North Florida are no joke, but after a long day of studying the beach isn't too far away, or even just a nice relaxing afternoon on The Green reading a book is so relaxing.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UNF provides emergency call stations all over campus that will send University Police directly to that location. All doors are locked and unlocked with digital keys, no standard locks.
Greek Life There is a huge Greek community on campus here.
Clubs and Activities UNF offers quite a few clubs from each college and are associated with many organizations across the country. There are clubs from Chinese Culture Club to On Campus Fitness groups.
Great for these types of students UNF is great for students who are looking for music education, business education, or a great nursing school. There is also a lot of free speech and art related events.
Bang for the buck The tuition here is increased on a very regular basis. If you attend, try to get out in the typical four year program. There are also a lot of added fees in your cost of attendance, and these are required even if you do not participate in sports, etc.
What to do for fun There is some sort of activity going on on campus every day. From fundraisers to markets to free movies, you can't be bored on campus here. If you are a drinker, The Boathouse, serving beer and wine, is open until 9 pm and offers local brews and concerts put on by the school's Jazz Program. The Lazarra Concert Hall frequently hosts musicians and guest speakers, as does the Arena on the opposite end of campus. UNF also recently added a football team to the lengthy list of sports events you can attend as well.
Food and Dining Although UNF recently built a large and beautiful new Student Union, the food choices are many, but with very little good food. With the exception of Quizno's, there are no other known chain restaurants. The food at these small food court locations are slightly overpriced for the type of food you get. There is however a Starbucks adjacent to the library with a large sitting area.
Dorm Life The dorms are quite convenient and generally worth it to live in. Each student gets the option to choose roommates or have them randomly selected. The rooms vary from two person to four person and from small to larger loft-like apartments. The UNF Hall requires a shared bathroom amongst all residents in your particular hall.
Academic Rigor For the most part, all of the professors on this campus strive to give you an exceptional learning experience. This is particularly true when you get to the upper level undergrad courses. UNF is also available to Graduate students in a variety of fields.
Tips for prospective students UNF offers a wide variety of Greek Life, clubs, societies and fundraisers that every student should strive to participate in. Take advantage of living on campus your first year, it's worth the money to be that close to class. The One Stop office is always busy, give yourself plenty of extra time if you need to visit.
In three sentences The University of North Florida has a beautiful campus set on a nature preserve, so it has a relaxing atmosphere for studying. The staff are, for the most part, extremely eager to teach and help you meet your potential in a variety of subject areas. There is, however an issue with parking availability and constant construction beginning to take over the lovely nature trails.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is one of the most important things on the campus. They have poles all over the campus with emergency buttons where a police can escort you back and fourth to where you need to go in the daytime or at night incase you feel unsafe.
Greek Life UNF offers over 7 different sorority's at the campus that are extremely involved in helping the community, and life on campus. Almost everyone at the university is involved in Greek life.
Clubs and Activities The University offers over 200 clubs on the school, and offers daily activities to allow the students to interact on campus and meet new people!!
Bang for the buck This school is a really good price. Even for out of state students the tuition is cheaper then most colleges, and the school does a lot for you if you can't afford it.
What to do for fun The school is only about a 5-10 minute bus ride from town center, so if you need to get out and have fun or go shopping its minutes away. The school offers a 78,000 sqft equipped facility that is over 5 story's tall, an indoor swimming pool, a rock wall, 2 zip lines, and so much more!!!!
Food and Dining The school has a three floor dining area that they are opening Fall 2012. I went to orientation for 2 days and the cafeteria food was amazing. I was hoping it was like High School food, and it's nothing like it!
Dorm Life I can't wait to start dorm life, and being off on your own. The dorms are so nice there, and most of the rooms have their own private bathroom as opposed to sharing it with 8 people or even a whole floor of students.
Academic Rigor UNF is rated Floridas best kept secret, and has an amazing academic program. Like I said I currently have not attended yet, but from talking to former students who go there they say you definitely get an amazing education there.
Tips for prospective students For a student who is thinking about attending UNF they have to go on the campus to get a real feel for the school. Just walking around the campus, and watching how the staff really cares about the students at the school makes you feel at more ease, and takes some of the pressure off of you of being on your own. When you go to orientation they make it so much fun, and everyone personally gets to know you!
In three sentences I have not currently yet attended, but just being on campus made me so excited to become a student. I feel very confident that I will excel in my studies, and fit in perfectly with the way the way the school incorporates it's students!

Categories Comments What to do for fun As for fun, I could go on and on about what to do, but for me, playing sports outside with my friends was pretty much the highest level of fun I reached over my Summer stay.
Food and Dining They have good food options for everyone on campus.
Dorm Life The dorms are really nice to live in and are fully functionally.
Academic Rigor The academic structure is great, as teachers will aid you and make sure they give you the best possible tools in order to excel in their class.
Tips for prospective students One tip, and that is to get involved. A lot of doors will open up for you if you just open up to what the school has to offer.
In three sentences The campus is quite stunning. Everything is within a resemble difference. And above all, the school provides ample amounts of things that ultimately any student can participate or get involved in.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UNf is a place for all types of people. It is really welcoming and culturally diverse.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a place on the UNF campus that the school as a whole kind of revolves around like a central hub. That place is called the Green. The Green is a large grassy area in the middle of the campus where students have free range to do whatever they want. Students can hang out with friends, lay out and nap, meet for clubs or activities, have religious gatherings, or play music, basically anything you can think of. The Green is a pretty unique and fun spot on the UNF campus.
What to do for fun UNF always has something going on. If it's not karaoke or open mic night, it's a sporting event or a comedy show. There is always something to do on campus. There is also a game room at the student union that can provide endless hours of fun playing pool, ping pong, board games, or video games. Plus there are probably hundreds of different clubs that students can join.
Food and Dining UNF just finished building a brand new dining facility. It is located close to all of the dorms, so it is very convenient. The dining hall offers buffet style dining pretty good food. For example hamburgers, pizza, and probably anything else you can think of, the menu is always changing. the only thing is, in my opinion, the meal plans are a bit overpriced.
Dorm Life The dorms at UNF are really nice and comfortable. They are a great place to meet new people. Just this year it became a requirement for all freshman to live on campus, which since I am a sophomore, I am not a big fan of because it pushes all of the upperclassmen to live in the more expensive dorms or to live off campus which is honestly cheaper. Besides that I would encourage everyone to at least live one year on campus because it was one of the funnest years of my life.
Academic Rigor So far at UNF I have not had a class where I could do nothing and still get an A. The teachers at UNF really expect great things from their students and challenge them mentally and physically, believe me. But look on the bright side, the countless hours of studying and hard work will always pay off in the end and get you that A!
Tips for prospective students If you are a freshman and have no college experience I highly encourage you to live on campus and purchase a meal plan. This eliminates any extra worry and allows you to get the most of you freshman year. However, if you are a transfer student or a student who has college experience save yourself the money and live off campus.
In three sentences The University of North Florida is probably one of the most underrated public universities in Florida. The campus is small, beautiful (well to be fair it is located on a nature preserve) ,the classes are small, and the teachers are really personable and care about their students. Also since UNF is a pretty small college it is really easy to make friends and start to think of it as a large community.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are poles across campus that will call the campus security by the touch of a button. With that being said you should always be with more than two people at night and stay away from lot 18 if your alone at night. (it is far from any buildings on campus.
Greek Life There are a couple of fraternities and sororities at this school but they do not have houses. My personal opinion is that Greek life conflicts with what makes this University special.
Clubs and Activities As I had said they have a wide range of clubs, sports and activities on campus. Along with that the school has an agency that arranges events such as concerts and events for the students
Great for these types of students If you want to find a school that will nourish your talents and interests in a beautiful secluded area I highly recommend it. If you want Greek life I would recommend you not come to this University.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The most unusual thing I have seen so far is the swoop. that is what we as Ospreys do at the Univeristy of North Florida. Its just a very odd chant...
Bang for the buck If you are comfortable buying your own books on your own do it! The bookstore gets a little pricey. If you will only need the book for one class then take the rental option that the bookstore offers. Along with this take advantage of the dining dollars on your account (this is through the meal plan)
What to do for fun There are a variety of clubs, intermural sports, campus ministries and events on campus just about for everything. There is even a pretty decent game room for those who are interested. If there is not something you are interested in, UNF will give you the option of starting your own club on campus (if you have 10 or more people I believe)
Food and Dining I highly recommend eating on campus. They just finished the new dining hall with quite a variety through most of the meals in the day. A couple of restaurants scattered across campus that you could eat at. If you are not interested in on-campus dining then the surrounding area has just about every eating establishment there is at the shopping centers of Beach boulevard and St. Johns Town Center.
Dorm Life The dorms on campus are alright. Physically they are the oldest buildings on campus and the experience in the dorms will vary. My roommate and I had a humidity problem in ours but was fixed quickly with a school provided dehumidifier. With that being said they organize a lot of different communities and events for people living on campus which I would recommend getting involved in.
Academic Rigor At the moment I am in a Calculus class, Biology class and Intro to Philosophy class. One thing I have learned so far is that these professors are not afraid to challenge their students. With that being said, they will give you methods for retaining this overwhelming amount of knowledge.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of a teachers office hours; they truly save that time for the student. I also suggest getting involved in some way on campus. They have a variety of clubs and events that give you a way of meeting people, having fun and finding something you truly love to do.
In three sentences This school is the perfect balance of a small college and University. the average class size will range from 30-50 students which allows you to get a lot of attention from the professors. I truly believe every Professor on campus truly has a passion for what they are teaching and will take the time to help any student here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are constantly UNF police patrolling the area and you can always go to them for any problems.
What to do for fun There is a game room, ping pong, pool, gym, and more.
Food and Dining There are several places to eat on campus. I enjoy eating at Quiznos or Sbarro when I want to eat fast or The Boathouse when I want to sit down and eat. They just opened up an all you can eat cafeteria but I have not tried it yet.
Academic Rigor There are not enough classes offered for certain degrees. You don't have the option of choosing which teacher is best in certain circumstances you just have to take what is offered.
Tips for prospective students Buy the parking pass for lot 14 or 18 and walk to class; riding the shuttle takes too long and half the time you can't find a parking spot in the garage if you buy the pass for the garage. Get your A.A. at a community/state college and finish all of your prerequisites there and then transfer, the classes will be easier and cheaper.
In three sentences Overall The University of North Florida is a good school. I think they would be a better school if they had someone at the school generating the courses offered. You definitely have to work your schedule around theirs.

Categories Comments Food and Dining There are so many choices as to where I can eat and what is offered. The dining hall is great if I'm tired of the fast food we have on campus. Jamba Juice is perfect for after a great workout. And Sbarro is where I'll go if I'm craving pizza. But the fact that there are options and I'm not just stuck on eating the same thing everyday is great.
Dorm Life I live in the Crossings, and they are great. Really spacious and well kept, which is definitely something I was looking for. It's been easy finding people in my dorm that I get along with and who have similar interests.
Academic Rigor The courses I am taking definitely are more thought provoking than I expected, but that's helpful to me. The more detail they go into, the more I understand.
Tips for prospective students You are guaranteed that there is something for you on campus. There are so many different clubs and organizations that there will definitely be one you like. Also, don't worry about what other people think, it's a completely care-free campus and there is no one who is judging you, so just relax and be yourself.
In three sentences The University of North Florida has a beautiful campus. The people that I have gotten to know, my age and older, have all been very welcoming and made the transition easier. It is also a very active campus, there are so many activities that someone could get involved with.

Categories Comments Campus Safety UNF takes great care in keeping their students safe. They have blue safety poles all over campus for students to press if they feel that they are in danger. Students can also call the UNF Police if they do not feel comfortable walking alone at night. There are many options for students to truly feel safe on campus,
Great for these types of students UNF does not have a big name football team (or any football team at all) and thus may not appeal to super competitive students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus My favorite part of campus is The Green. It is a large grassy field in the middle of campus that sits in front of the Lazzara Theater. It is a great place to enjoy food and fellowship with friends or even have a picnic on the soft grass.
Bang for the buck UNF has a booming social atmosphere, very clean and beautiful campus, prestigious academics, and a relaxed atmosphere. It is small enough to prevent the confusion of a large campus and is much less expensive than a private school. I love attending UNF... SWOOP!
What to do for fun As many like to say, UNF is 15 minutes away from everything. This includes Jacksonville beach, the Jaguar stadium, and downtown Jacksonville. There are many places to go downtown but also students can drive five minutes (or bike, or even ride a free bus transit!) to the humongous St. John's Town Center to shop.
Food and Dining The new Osprey Cafe is great. There are many options and the dining room is clean, spacious and large. Plus, there are other places to eat on campus such as Starbucks, Quizno's, a sushi shop and more! Options abound at UNF.
Dorm Life UNF is a growing campus. Thus, many students commute and thus the weekends are very quiet on campus. However, UNF now requires freshman students to live on campus and now dorm life is more lively than ever. I love living on campus.
Academic Rigor Classes are difficult and critical thinking is required; this is the case at any college. However, teachers are always more than willing to meet with you during office hours to assist you in their classes.
Tips for prospective students Live on campus! Your experience at UNF will be enriched by your involvement in clubs and activities.
In three sentences UNF has a fun, relaxed environment and the students and faculty are incredibly friendly. School spirit is high but competitive spirit is not. It is a nice blend of a small school with the affordable price of a state university.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are officers available 24/7 and emergency poles everywhere. If you need an escort to your car at night, if you have a flat tire, or if you are hurt, the officers are there to help!
Greek Life I hear great things about the greek life at UNF. Friends involved say they love it. UNF doesn't have greek housing yet but they are working on it.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs on campus! Everyone can find their niche and if none of the clubs are of interest then it is easy to start a new club!
Great for these types of students Anyone with a drive and sense of dedication can find their place at UNF. It is easy to cater the university to the needs of each student because there are lots of programs, resources, and opportunities.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are wildlife trails surrounding UNF. They are quiet and relaxing and worth the walk. The gym is great and the student union is really nice as well.
Bang for the buck One of the more affordable state universities in Florida.
What to do for fun Osprey Productions is the branch of Student Government that plans the events on campus. They are FREE for students and they are always really fun. They constantly have events! (Movies, concerts, comedy shows, open mic nights, trivia.) The beach is 15 minutes away and even if you don't have a car it is easy to carpool to events.
Food and Dining There are tons of choices! If you don't find something you like/ want there are options close to campus that will deliver or are accessible on the school shuttle.
Dorm Life I hear the dorm life is pretty decent but I chose not to live on campus.
Academic Rigor Enough work to fill a schedule, enough time for fun. Manage your time wisely and you will be fine. There are tutors available and professors are pretty good at helping students outside of class.
Tips for prospective students If you are going to live on campus then you should strongly consider leaving your car behind. Don't skip class. Go to the gym, its a great facility and its free for students.
In three sentences UNF has a great campus, great professors, and great opportunities. The only two complaints I have: parking at UNF is horrendous and not enough class times are offered for in demand classes. UNF is awesome overall!

Categories Comments What to do for fun There is a shopping center literally down the street from the school. There is also other places close by, so I plan on going to those different places on top of listening to music, watching movies, or television shows.
Food and Dining I gave it a three because I haven't had the chance to try the food. Hopefully it's good. (laughs to self)
Dorm Life From the housing arrangements I've looked at, the pricing and set up of the rooms are pretty reasonable. I can't wait to see them in person.
Academic Rigor It's ranked 19th in the country by Forbes for a reason.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you contact the One Stop at the school if you have questions about anything. They have helped me in so many ways and I haven't gotten there yet.
In three sentences From what I have heard, I made the right choice in applying to the University of North Florida, and I am happy to be accepted. It's a diverse campus from what I have read. According to the population count, it's a huge campus.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities Jacksonville Christian Life is where it is at!
Bang for the buck It is expensive but I completely enjoy it and would not want to be anywhere else.
What to do for fun Sports!!!! I am huge into intramural sports and it has made for some great times. I am also involved with a club on campus, JCL, and it has provided plenty of things to do.
Food and Dining I never had a meal plan so I always cooked for myself. But, if you are on campus there are okay places to eat at.
Dorm Life I really enjoy living in the dorm. You meet some great and not so great people but it is really nice. I loved the Crossings!
Academic Rigor Stay organized and do your work on time and you should be fine. Also, you should actually study for exams.
Tips for prospective students Get involved with a club! I am part of JCL and it has opened up so many doors for me. I have received job opportunities and housing options because of it. I also have some amazing friends that I have met through it.
In three sentences I love UNF! It has offered me so many opportunities like going to Italy for a class. It is also small so I feel like an actual person and not just a number.

Academic Rigor I plan on taking classes in communications and advertising and expect rigor in the classes, but a manageable amount.
Tips for prospective students Do your research and apply for the priority deadline!

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities I was told that UNF has over 150 different clubs that you can join.
Great for these types of students If you are looking for a small-medium sized campus that is secluded but still close to a city and has a good academic and student focus, then UNF is the school for you!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One of my favorite things about the UNF campus is the location. UNF is set on a nature preserve and has a beautiful campus featuring nature trails and wildlife. Though it is in Jacksonville, it doesn't seem like you are in the city. Also, the campus is not spread out, you can literally walk anywhere on campus! you can walk straight from your dorm to class or ride a bike without needing to leave 45 minutes before class is suppose to start.
Bang for the buck I think that UNF definitely will give me the bang for my buck. The campus is amazing, academics are an important focus, and I feel that I will have a great college experience!
What to do for fun The campus has recently opened up the new student wellness center which include a rock wall! I also heard on my tour that their is also a ropes course on campus!
Food and Dining While taking my tour at UNF my group decided to make a stop at the cafeteria on campus. It was great! Much better than I would expect an all you can eat $8 buffet to be. Everything was constantly being made fresh and it was delicious.
Dorm Life My boyfriends older sister and brother have both attended and graduated from UNF and were both very satisfied with their college experience.
Academic Rigor As I am not yet accepted and have not attended classes here, I can say that I know that the school does not have a football team. Though some people may view this as a negative, I definitely view it as a positive, because all of the money that is not being spent on expensive sports is being spent on academics and other areas to improve the school.
Tips for prospective students Definitely take a tour! The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and give you a students perspective of the school. I left the school even more excited to apply than I was before, and I didn't think that was possible.
In three sentences I loved the campus! The University of North Florida is definitely my number one choice for college! It is very unique in several ways that make it an even better match for me.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are emergency phones all over campus. The crime rate though varies. In 2011, there seemed to be a lot of crime that happened late at night.
Greek Life The Greeks are big on campus, but there are no Greek Housing.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of clubs to join! Everything from the Chinese Culture Club to Pokemon Battle Club.
Great for these types of students Students that live in Jacksonville.
Bang for the buck Cheaper tuition than UF, FSU, or UCF.
What to do for fun For fun students join clubs, get into sports, and we have a lot of concerts.
Food and Dining The food is expensive. The only food that is open after 9 or 10pm is the food store in The Fountains Dorm, but you can only get in there if you live there or if you have a friend that can get you in.
Dorm Life As a freshman you are forced to live on campus. The new dorm The Fountains is very very nice. There are game rooms, study rooms, a food store, and a gym!
Academic Rigor UNF has easy classes, but hard professors. The professors usually get between 3-3.5 stars on rate my professor. The business school is said to be a top notch school though.
Tips for prospective students If you do not live on campus, get on campus early on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Take a lot of classes, 15 credits your first year or two to push through your general education classes.
In three sentences This university is a great business and education school. Parking is a problem and the shuttle service is something left to be desired. Basketball is a big deal.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The University Police are really helpful, if you have noise complaints or are in a scary situation they'll be there quickly to assist you. They have blue emergency poles located all over campus and if you ever feel unsafe or just don't want to walk alone in the dark push one of these and UPD will arrive promptly.
Greek Life UNF has an active Greek Life but currently they don't have houses. Despite that, everyone seems to enjoy Greek Life.
Clubs and Activities UNF has lots of clubs and something that appeals to everyone. There are several Christian clubs on campus meeting on different nights. There are sporting clubs, Best Buddies, Volunteer Center, and Student Government. There are plenty of places to get involved. :)
Bang for the buck UNF has great on campus job opportunities. You can work in any of the dining places the gym, really anywhere on campus. I worked at the bookstore for a while and the benefits are great. They look to hire students first because they can relate to the student body. Freshmen are allowed to have cars.
What to do for fun They have a gym that includes an indoor track and rock climbing wall. There are numerous classes offered including Zumba, spinning, and kickboxing. Every Wednesday night they show movies. There are plenty of sporting events to go to. On Wednesdays they have market days in the Student Union where vendors and clubs come out it's a great to get involved or to buy jewelry, clothing, etc. The town center is less than 5 min away from campus and a shuttle from campus runs their daily. There are plenty of places to shop there.
Food and Dining The Osprey Cafe that just opened this year has great food. They have pizza, burgers, and fries if you don't like any of their other options. The main station attempts to offer a balanced meal. They also have fresh salads with numerous toppings and waffles that can be made all day. It's buffet style so you're welcome to eat as much or as little as you'd like. They even offer vegetarian options and have a vegetarian station. If you don't like the cafe, there's Sbarro, Quizno's, Chik n grill, The Boathouse, and Jamba Juice located in the gym. Meal plans are required for freshmen but you'll enjoy the food. :)
Dorm Life Dorm life is pretty good, I get along well with my roommate. They have a search system if you're concerned about getting an incompatible roommate. Some of my neighbors are loud but that's college, some people like to party and blast music all night. Freshmen are required to live on campus but it gives you a nice experience that first year!
Academic Rigor I definitely feel challenged in my schoolwork but there are plenty of options to help you if you ever find yourself struggling. The Academic Center For Excellence offers free tutoring throughout the week.
Tips for prospective students Keeps your grades up in high school and be well rounded. Grades alone won't get you into college and neither will extracurricular activities. Stay in contact with UNF about any concerns. Come visit the campus, you have to be able to see yourself there. Look into scholarship opportunities!
In three sentences Jacksonville is a beautiful city to live in, UNF is a great campus and the people are friendly. UNF is a green campus and the scenery is beautiful, that's what I fell in love with. There's never a dull moment in your college experience, there's always something happening on campus, from sporting events, movie nights by Osprey productions to rock climbing in the gym.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are a lot of events and shows put on by student run clubs so there is always something to do during the semester. Definitely get a good, laid-back dorm roommate or they could completely ruin your first year (what happened to me).
Food and Dining The dining hall has been redone since I was last there but the salad bar was always delicious and the staff always nice. It was always clean and they had many options so if there was something there that wasn't very good, then there would always be something that is at least decent.
Dorm Life The dorms are fairly small but larger than those at other schools; there are also a few different building and layout options to choose from. It is tucked away near the edge of campus so it is quiet and close to the dining hall.
Academic Rigor Many of the professors are very intelligent but they don't have great ways of applying it to the classroom. The work can be tedious and simple which just gets in the way of learning and really wastes time.
Tips for prospective students Get involved with the clubs on campus and attend all of your degree's required workshops as early on in your college career as possible. It is very important to join a couple of clubs if you will be relying on help with scholarships. Also, always be aware of the scholarship submission deadlines and all suggested or required deadlines specific to your major.
In three sentences UNF has a beautiful campus set on a nature preserve. The professors are all very helpful and the majority have real business experience which of course, allows them to give more applicable advice and knowledge. It is a relaxing atmosphere all around campus unless you are in the library which is always packed with students studying.

Greek Life The Greek life at UNF is not as big compared to some of the other big state universities. However, it allows students to become more involved with others in such things as formals and philanthropy work.
Clubs and Activities If you are looking for a place to belong, UNF offers an abundance of clubs and activities to cater to your hobbies. From Greek life to academic clubs, these clubs expand your networking and friendship circles.
Great for these types of students Students looking for a smaller, connected type of campus would love UNF. With a smaller student population, the focus on students by professors is remarkable. The smaller class sizes allow the learning experience to be much more focused and specialized.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The trails on campus allow students to kayak, exercise, or even use the new ropes course. The school has definitely expanded the amount of fun activities students can engage in.
Bang for the buck UNF allows students to get a great education without costing them an arm and a leg.
What to do for fun Explore the trails. Attend a concert on the amphitheater green. Catch new movies shown by Osprey Productions. Go fishing. Watch the geese. Go the to newly built wellness center.

Academic Rigor The professors truly care about your learning experience and ensure that every student has the greatest amount of learning opportunities available to them. While at times, the classes may be hard, you're never left feeling helpless by the amount of help offered by fellow classmates, professors and academic clubs and centers.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of the campus concerts, dining amenities and sporting events. Stay away from the geese. Period.

Bang for the buck I do believe that UNF is a little expensive. The dormitories are a little pricey but if you can get the money they are fun to attend. I also recommend getting the meal plan if you can afford it because it's nice knowing you can eat!
What to do for fun For fun I like to go out and volunteer on campus. I also like to go out to eat with my friends and see local shows in the area. It's amazing what you can do with great friends in a great community.
Food and Dining The dining facilities on campus are also fantastic. While sometimes we do have issues at places like the Osprey Cafe; almost everyone enjoys Sbarro's and we even have Chick-Fil-A coming! For a late night snack you can even check out Ozzie's, open until 3AM!
Dorm Life As the president of one of the dormitories I am somewhat obligated to promote Residence Hall Life. You will meet great people and can even become involved on the board of directors with enough patience and work. I recommend staying on campus to students of all ages.
Academic Rigor The expectations at UNF can be felt during finals week and students are expected to behave a certain way. Students usually study all day and all night in the twenty-four hour library. Some students even skip sleep to study for exams!
Tips for prospective students Be open to meeting new people and be prepared to study hard. Also, be friendly to your professors because they will be there to help you in the end. If you ever need a break, head to the library for some peace and quiet.
In three sentences It is a fun campus with a lot of people to meet. The campus offers small class sizes and very friendly staff. It's a great place to go for that small-town college experience.

Categories Comments What to do for fun UNF is conveniently close to everything! The St. Johns Town Center is only a bike ride away, the beach is no more than 15 minutes away, and along the strip of the beach there are plenty of night-life activities to keep the fun going!
Food and Dining The meal plan only provides a discounted price of the meal you are purchasing. However, you do receive dining dollars in which you can use as well during your purchase. If you are to attend the cafeteria the meal plan covers it all, also the cafeteria has a lot of choices to eat so I highly recommend going there if you have the time to just sit and enjoy the food.
Dorm Life I love the convenience of every Housing area. The furthest Housing area is probably no more than a 15 minute walk into campus life but definitely does not feel like it. Every dorm is very comfortable and spacious enough for your belongings. I am currently sharing a room with one other roommate and the space between us two is very easy to maintain.
Academic Rigor Every university has its own challenging courses. It all depends on how many hours you are willing to put into studying outside of class. Forming study groups with students in your class or asking to meet with your professor during his or her office hours will only benefit you. Personally I took General Biology during my fall term and that class was extremely challenging, I pulled all nighters studying for every exam and it benefited my significantly!
Tips for prospective students Consider the area each Housing is located and how you are going to make it to class, either by walking or riding a bike. Consider how many meals you are going to consume throughout the week so you can settle on a reasonable priced meal plan for your diet. I suggest attending the fitness center; they offer great classes and the hours are extremely convenient!
In three sentences UNF is a diverse university that fosters a comfortable learning environment. The campus is big, but also a nice walking distance from any dorm area to make it to class on time. The campus pushes the students to be involved in extracurricular activities that ensure that every student will have a good time.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This was a plus! Being in Jacksonville, it can be very scary at times from walking back to the dorm from the library in the middle of the night. However, to ensure the students safety there are emergency polls every 50 ft!
What to do for fun There is always something to do on campus: movies every week, club festivals, concerts, pizza parties, pool parties. There is also a nature trail, along with a rope climbing course! No matter what season, there is always something!
Food and Dining For me, there is no food like mother's food. YUM! The cafe has a variety of choices, from breakfast to brunch, lunch to dinner. There are many other food areas on campus: Outtakes, Quizznos, etc.
Dorm Life There truly is no place like home. Dorm life is sustainable, but as long you and your roommate maintain cleanliness, dorm life wil be no biggie. You may get homesick everyone and then but living on your own with a roommate, shows you how close you can get to another person, emotionally.
Academic Rigor UNF's courses are outstanding. The professors MAKE SURE each and every student knows the material, even if it may be a general education course. Especially during one's junior and senior year, the professors are less lenient and more hard-core.
Tips for prospective students For those student going in, UNF is a college for those who want to learn and better themselves by making themselves more dependent. Social life is important but education can be limited as one grows older. UNF is college with many new doors and resources for the future.
In three sentences University of North Florida ia a school of promises. Each promises is fulfilled through the student government, giving the college an outstanding review from not just myself but from other students. It has gives the views of natur through campus, allowing students to appreciate the little things in life but it also grows into a bigger and more known college as each semester goes on.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is excellent. We have call stations all throughout campus in case of an emergency or for anything. Campus security will walk you to your dorm, or car if you would like them to if you don't feel safe.
Greek Life University of North Florida has a very large and present Greek Life. Although there is no official Greek housing, there is a very close community that has been built.
Clubs and Activities There are over 200 clubs on campus and they are all great! You are bound to find one that you like.
Great for these types of students Students who enjoy being outdoors, our campus has several nature trails. And is very close to the beach and there is always something to do.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Our mascot is the Osprey so our motto is to SWOOP!
Bang for the buck Having scholarships really do help, so focus and keeping up your GPA so you don't lose your scholarship as college is an expensive investment, however you do get allot for your money at UNF. Dorm life is cheaper than most colleges and they just built a new Gymnasium
What to do for fun Its a lot of fun being on campus,There are always activities, clubs, sporting events, and concerts going on within campus. There is a game room, restaurants nature trails and canoeing on campus also. Jacksonville, and UNF have some of the most amazing jazz artists locally. Also, living close to the beach is a plus, you can go surfing, skating, fishing etc.
Food and Dining Cafeteria is a buffet lots to choose from! There are also several restaurants and smaller vendors such as Starbucks and smoothie king. You won't go hungry! UNF is close to many restaurants down town as well and they will accept your food card and give you discounts for being a UNF student.
Dorm Life On-campus living is great! The rooms are larger then most universities, and there is a real sense of community. The Housing staff is helpful and housing is close to the academic buildings, so walking to classes is a breeze.
Academic Rigor The classes here are challenging, but all the teachers are more than willing to help students succeed. There is also an office for free tutors on campus whom are equally helpful.
Tips for prospective students Apply ASAP there is limited space and you don't want to miss out on this great opportunity. Also leave your apartment early enough to beat the morning class traffic. Parking is limited so if you do not have a premium parking pass, you will have to purchase a daily pass for $3.00
In three sentences This is a great school! Its small like a family with plenty of opportunities to grow and learn. They also have the only Transportation and Logistics program in the Southeast making this a very unique school. It is also located in a beautiful section of Jacksonville Florida, close the beach lots of nature trails and ponds.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Downtown Jacksonville is where to go to check out any type of nightlife. While you do have the beaches with many bars and clubs, it gets a little loud out there and normally shoulder to shoulder standing is what you're going to find. Underbelly located in Downtown Jacksonville is the hottest new bar/venue your eyes ever did see. They host daily shows with bands ranging in styles from indie to hard rock and smooth electronic. Artwalk is also a fun thing to check out the first Wednesday of every month. This is also located downtown.
Food and Dining The food and dining options on campus are not bad. You have a few Starbucks and Outtakes to choose from as well as a Quiznos and a couple other small vendors located in the cafeteria. I've heard rumors of a Chick-fil-a coming to campus Spring 2013. Beware of high prices $$$ especially at Starbucks.
Dorm Life Dorm life at UNF is like any other university but with a more relaxed feel. The Fountains is where I lived while on campus and this building is the newest, upperclassman housing area at UNF. It comes complete with a lazy river and it's own grill/game room but the walk to your dorm can get a little old. You need a key to get into the two main entrances, a key into your wing of the building, a key to get into the hallway of your floor (once you've taken the elevators), a key to get into your suite style dorm, and finally a key to get into your individual bedroom. I would check out your other options before deciding on this. Carrying your groceries is a pain in the a$$.
Academic Rigor The professors at UNF are very dedicated, witty and patient but also know how to challenge the students. They are great at what they do and although some may seem like tough cookies, if you put the time and effort into your classes you will reap the benefits.
Tips for prospective students You will love the University of North Florida and Jacksonville itself. It is a great school with fabulous professors, great on campus recreational activities and many, many great food options. You can rent camping equipment from the nature trails at Eco Adventures, visit the campus's farm (which supplies produce to the cafeterias on campus) and spend a few hours in the new gym (rock climbing wall included!).
In three sentences A beautiful campus located on the Sawmill Slough Preserve for all you nature-lovers. Passionate and dedicated professors who have your best interest in mind. A fun and interactive environment that allows all students to get involved in campus life.

Categories Comments What to do for fun UNF often has movie nights where they show movies that have just left theaters. Its always fun and if your a UNF student you get in free!
Food and Dining There is a great amount of dining choices to choose from, such as Papa John's Pizza or the Boathouse. The Boathouse is a little pricey, and personally I enjoy the pizza down stairs at the Student Union or a sub from Quiznos. And if you don't like Papa Johns there is a Sbarro as well.
Academic Rigor As with most colleges, the difficulty is based on the class level. But I would say, that overall the classes are easy as long as you keep up with your homework and attend class regularly.
Tips for prospective students Buy your books weeks ahead of time.
In three sentences The University of North Florida is an inviting and comfortable college, that allows students to not only learn but make long lasting relationships that will follow throughout life. Categories Comments Campus Safety This campus is extremely safe. Rarely are there any arrests or break ins etc. There are police officers present across campus and emergency call towers are scattered throughout campus if you ever have an emergency.
Greek Life The Greek life at UNF is proportional to the number of students who currently attend. I loved being a part of the greek life.

The new 20 million dollar fitness center is unlike any other campus in the U.S. currently. The Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Architects named UNF's Student Union as the No. 4 building in the state of Florida! And many other things.

Food and Dining UNF now has a new dining hall which is great, they are opening a Chick-fil-a this summer on campus, and have many other resturaunts on campus.
Dorm Life I lived in the dorms for a year and stayed in the Osprey Fountains. it was almost like being in a hotel with the accomodations which was nice. Game room downstaires with a place for food, lazy river and pool, and much more. The only downfall is how small your rooms are unless you stay in the single rooms.
Academic Rigor Classes are challenging enough to keep you on your toes! But not so much that you won't be able to do anything else with your time. I have loved every teacher that I have had while I have been here! Be prepared to study!
