    Great for these types of students

    Students that are intimidated by large lectures, but don't want to go to a private school. UNC is known for it's nursing program, so if you want to go into nursing come here. UNC is a well rounded school and I believe anyone can find their niche here.
    Tips for prospective students

    To do well in your classes make sure you don't get behind. Read chapters before, attend every lecture and review afterwards. Procrastinating and waiting a week before a test to study is a death sentence. Try to find a good balance between socializing and studying. Make sure to do both, but not only one or the other.
    Bang for the buck

    Very much so. UNC offers so many opportunities to help students succeed. Such as free tutoring, job fairs, scholarship fairs, a variety of clubs, an abundance of sororities and fraternities and support groups. Our recreation center is awesome. I never once waited for a machine and the pool is huge! They have really great fitness classes also; I really liked aerobics. Our library is beautiful. Each level has a different noise level so you can be social while you study or you can study alone.
    Am enjoying being here

    The campus is beautiful. Being on summer break, I miss walking along the sidewalks under the gorgeous trees. I also miss gazing at the detailed architecture of the dorms and lecture halls. I love the small class size and the professors seemed so determined to have every student succeed, no matter how big the class is. UNC also offers great tutoring services which includes one on one or supplemental instruction (group).
    Am learning a lot

    I had no idea I could cram so much information into my head. I find myself doing everyday activities and understanding so much more about them that I did before. Every time I clean my fish tank, I wonder how many different molecules are in the water and how I can eliminate them or produce more using my knowledge of chemistry. I watch the Discovery channel and find myself naming the phylum or class of the species I see.

    Tips for prospective students

    My tips for prospective students would be to prepare ahead of time for what may come, and to visit the campus, as they may be able to feel the community vibe that UNC carries.
    Bang for the buck

    One of my primary reasons for attending UNC in the first place stems from all that I had heard about the Performance Arts program here. UNC may not be the best acting school in the country (if you're looking for that, I'd suggest an observatory), but considering the price, I do believe that it presents one of the best values in the country for this sort of thing. UNC provides skilled training at an affordable cost.
    Am enjoying being here

    So far at UNC I have made solid friends, been involved in two groups for improvisational comedy, developed a love for philosophy as a subject, and experienced a sense of individuality that I don't think I've ever known before. It really is something special when you realize that you're living through what will one day be some of your fondest memories.
    Am learning a lot

    Not only have I picked up quite a bit going to UNC as far as my classes have gone (all of which have been highly informative), but I have been placed in an environment where it just feels right to continue into the ways of reality and adulthood.

    Great for these types of students

    Students who want to live at or near home, who don't want to pay as much, who want to major in ECE, Elementary Ed, or Special Ed, who want to work and go to school at the same time, and who want to be ahead of all of everyone else when they graduate from college.
    Tips for prospective students

    The Denver campus is nice if you don't want to live in Greeley or away from home but still want to major in ECE, Elementary Ed, or Special Ed. You work in the morning and go to school in the afternoon. Compared to most colleges and Greeley, you will be way ahead of the game, already working in schools, knowing if this is for you or not, having experience, and knowing how to write a full IEP.
    Bang for the buck

    Compared to Greeley which is at about $18,000/year, it is about $7,000/year here. As a part of the program, all students must do an apprenticeship every day which provides some money for college.

    I enjoy the sense of community with such small classes. ( I am at the UNC Denver Campus) All of the students have the same common bond/goal which is to become teachers.
    Am learning a lot

    The teachers here are so non-traditional which makes learning so much easier and more fun for me.

    Do not sign up for 8 AM classes that take place across campus.

    Definitely get more then you would expect. This school is considered one of the cheaper schools but the staff and campus don't feel cheap in the least. Our rec center is extremely nice.

    UNC's campus is absolutely beautiful! I love how central campus has that old school feel to it and yet is still up-to-date on the inside. The campus is kept extremely clean, which is always a plus. I love that there is a club for basically every activity you can think of, and the students on campus are laid back enough to make this an extremely enjoyable experience!

    The professors here seem really keen on helping students succeed. They are always willing to help students out with whatever they need. I love how knowledgeable that are in their prospective subjects. On top of that, if you are planning on doing any type of exchange trip, the professors are super helpful with finding classes with credits that will transfer.

    If you're from Colorado and want a school close (in all senses of the word) to home, this is a good option.

    Most UNC students are from Colorado. Most also are from similar socioeconomic backgrounds and share similar religious and political beliefs. If you're from Colorado and want a school close (in all senses of the word) to home, this is a good option. However, if you're looking for a school to stretch you, you may want to consider elsewhere. Also, I've talked with quite a few other people, and we all agree the prospective student tours of UNC are mostly authentic. What you see is what you get (besides the food). If you go on the tour and the school doesn't click for you, consider trying somewhere else.

    UNC is a relatively inexpensive, fairly simple way to get a degree.

    UNC can be quite cliquish. Greek life is quite active. However, the school is large. If you want to meet people, you will. The town leaves little to be desired, but there are quite a few activities offered around and near to the campus if you feel like getting involved with something.
    Did learn a lot

    Frankly, UNC is quite good for the unmotivated student. Though there are some more demanding classes, you can pass most classes with regurgitation and little effort. Understand, most of the classes are geared towards students simply in the class for the credit. If you actually want to learn, you'll truly have to apply yourself and may have to become the proverbial squeaky wheel if you want support from your professors.

    UNC is good for a variety of students. The teaching/education majors are wonderful and very popular. There is also a great nursing school here. As well as a good business school.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you are looking for a medium size college with great classes and variety and awesome people, the University of Northern Colorado is the place to go. The campus is the perfect size and it is beautiful.

    It is expensive to be here, definitely. But it is worth it, believe me. The residence halls are a great place to be and the food at the dining hall is pretty good. The classes are definitely worth the money as well, as long as you actually attend class.

    Where to start? I love the size of the campus. Its not too big that you feel lost but it is not small enough to feel like everyone know everything about you. The residence halls have a good community feeling and are a great way to get to know people. The campus is beautiful. There are so many opportunities to get involved on campus. You can help plan events (like concerts with Boys Like Girls or homecoming), play sports (intramural or for the school), Greek Life or groups that concern your major.
    Am learning a lot

    It is AMAZING how much I have learned in the one and a half years I have been here. Some of the classes may start out as review of high school information but, trust me, you will learn a lot. The variety of classes offered at UNC is incredible. You can take a Badminton class in the morning and a chemistry class in the afternoon. The professors are easy to work with and some are actually quite entertaining.

    Campus Safety

    The campus has call boxes placed all over campus, supposedly there isn't a single place that you can stand on campus, and not see one nearby. Plus campus security is always patrolling.
    Greek Life

    There are many Greek houses to join! They also help you stay involved on campus. One fraternity put on an Easter egg hunt for little ones this past spring.
    Clubs and Activities

    The clubs and activities are endless. One person to ask about things to do on campus would be your personal advisor. Clubs also regularly post up notices in commons areas in dorms to keep students informed.
    Great for these types of students

    UNC mainly focuses on teaching, nursing, and business. Two other things UNC is known for is their music, art, and theatre programs which all can be taken with an emphasis in education for those who would like to teach about them. I myself am an art education major, and once I graduate will be able to teach grades k-12.
    Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    The tunnel is famous on campus for it's reputation, but some people here try to trick freshmen, and tell them that if they can get up into Gunther tower, and find the bell then they'll get a scholarship, but it's a lie. There is only a recorder up there. They also have the Taste of UNC which is a welcoming feast to all of the Freshmen, and then there is a Luau at the end of the year.

    This campus is one of the cheapest in Colorado, but not just in Colorado, but the world as well. I mean this in the way that UNC has a very extensive study abroad program that allows you to travel to many different countries around the world, and pay the same amount as you would at UNC, or less! The best part is that they will send you somewhere that will benefit your major. One of my friends who is an English major is transferring to England for an entire year to study. And many other people I know are going to places in Africa, Asia, Japan, and Australia.
    What to do for fun

    The campus is always doing things for everyone to be involved. They have cookouts when the weather permits. There is also giant block parties with live entertainment at the beginning of the semester. Swing dancing clubs are big on campus. There are also many places on 8th Avenue to go to as well. There is something her for everyone.
    Food and Dining

    UNC is actually known mainly for the cooks that they hire to serve the students. I work at a dining hall myself, and love the people I work with. The job itself isn't terrible, but the people really make it an experience. The cooks are wonderful to talk to, and will give you tips on how to make something, and even on occasion will except recipes from students home, and try them out. Depending on how the dishes go over they might even add it on the menu.
    Dorm Life

    My own personal preference when going to school is living on Old Campus. The trees are beautiful. The dorms are smaller, but after visiting the newer, larger, dorms I realized that they could say, I know my entire floor. Whereas, I could sat, I know my entire dorm. When living in the dorm remember that the RAs are your friends, and there to help, and guide you. Your roommate will also make a big difference in whether you like your dorm or not. I had a couple of bad ones, but then I found a really great one that fit. After living with her I began to hang out with other people more, and had a blast. We even had a water balloon fight with the dorm across the street at the end of our spring semester! :D
    Academic Rigor

    If you decide to attend UNC try taking Life of the Mind. When registering it's called MIND 100. It's a class specifically designated for incoming freshmen, and the work load really helps to teach time management. As one of my professors had said to me, Decide what you want your grade to be in my class, and then do your work accordingly. That is the best advice anyone has ever given me when it comes to school.
    Tips for prospective students

    When attending UNC, focus on your L.A.C. classes. Remember that as an incoming student majors don't have to be decided yet. Once on campus, learn the buildings, and where they are located. ONLY USE THE TUNNEL DURING THE DAY! Make friends that are the same age, but also make ones that are older, because they have already spent loads of time trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together that you are only beginning to sort out. Finally, have fun, but be responsible, and only do things that you are comfortable with.

    UNC is a wonderful campus that is... User friendly. The staff and professors are amazing, and will go the extra mile, or few extra hours to help students out personally. The academics are wonderful, and the people you'll be attending classes with are really nice, and helpful.

    More introverted students. The campus is large enough so that there's lots of new people to meet, yet is small enough that you still see familiar faces from time to time. Prospective teachers. UNC is considered one of the best teacher school's in the nation, and it's for no small reason. If you do decide to go to UNC as an education major of some sort, I HIGHLY recommend pursuing an endorsement in either ESL (English as a Second Language) or Bilingual/Bicultural. These endorsements are tailored to help you succeed in teaching minority students, particularly Mexican and Hispano students. Within these endorsements, there's another program called Cumbres here that is helping students with these endorsements, and is well-known within the state of Colorado for raising teachers who are leaders in the school and community. I am currently in this program, and it's fantastic! Although I am a Biology/Secondary Education major, this program is amazing, and I highly suggest you try and get in. Business students. Although I am not in the business program myself, I've heard that our business department is also nationally known. Theatre/Music students: For the same reason above, we have a well-known theatre and music program.
    Tips for prospective students

    --At orientation, make sure you plan your classes somewhat close together. Make sure the buildings your class are on the same side of UNC. --You will be told this over and over, but do not take 18 credits your first semester, unless you might have had lots of AP/IB classes. I am taking 18 credits as a first semester freshman, and I am surviving only because I've taken IB and AP classes. --Get involved with the community! Volunteer work is always the best thing on resume's and this is especially true well into college and beyond.
    Bang for the buck

    The money is definitely worth it, especially in comparison to other schools in Colorado. Especially for in-state tuition, UNC is MUCH cheaper than say CSU or CU Boulder. Also, if one can, try and see if there's family in the nearby area that you can stay at. As those who have been researching colleges know, room and board is usually almost as much as tuition. The same goes for UNC, and is the main reason why I'm staying with my parents for at least a year or so.

    I love the campus!! Although I am commuting from a nearby town, the colors in the fall on campus are magnificent, and the campus is beautiful. Many of the people on campus are also very friendly and helpful, and if you don't know where something is, just ask a student or someone walking around, and they'll direct you to where you need to go! The only main disadvantage of the school is how the two sides of campus are split up. There's a West Campus and Central Campus. If you have a class on West Campus, then on Central Campus fifteen minutes later, you have to almost run in order to get to your next class! Though, this is not too much to worry about, for many of the classes that you'd take for your major will be on the same side of UNC.
    Am learning a lot

    Due to how I took Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes, I find some of the classes to be reviews of what I had learned in the upper level classes in high school. On the other hand, I am still learning quite a bit, especially in my Mexican American Studies course, and am enjoying at the same time! I especially look forward to future classes, when I go more into detail of subjects concerning my major.

    Anybody and everybody really. This school is so diverse, and obtains so many programs that absolutely anybody has the potential to be a Bear. Doesn't matter what color, religion, major, even if you don't have a major, you will find something that makes you who you want to be, or an even better you!
    Tips for prospective students

    1. Prepare before you come-college visits, class outlooks, programs/clubs/sports- make sure its somewhere that you can spend all day everyday. 2. Be ready to work hard if you want the best outta you education. Don'T slack off or procrastinate. It's nothing like high school so dont come in expecting a free ride with little to do. 3. Dont give up-it's worth the work. 4.GET INVOLVED!!! not always hard work and no play...plus making connections and networking with people during this time in your life can be the people you have by your side 10 years down the road!

    I would say you definitely can get an great experience out of what you put in. Coming from Denver,living in my reality, UNC seemed financially outta my reach, but I wanted it and worked for it and ended up getting the aid i needed. if you put in your time and you put in what you want out of it, you will get it! Just takes some work, patience and strength.

    As a freshman i hated being away form my family and my home. I felt so isolated from what i felt was comfort. However after the first semester went y, i started learning more about programs and clubs, sports and all the activities that go on. Now i feel like it really is my own little community. Reach out and see whats offered. Just like theres classes for anything desired, there will be a program or club to side with it!

    I cannot subject a particular type of student that I would not refer. I would welcome all types of students to this school. I've seen a variation of people come here and develop a connection to UNC one way or another.
    Tips for prospective students

    If your sure about UNC, apply early, and do everything you need to do well in advance. This school will work in your benefit if you get things done in a timely manner.

    Relatively inexpensive compared to most OOS tuition at other institutions. Fees and costs are still an issue where ever you go, but UNC would be a good choice to go if you can't afford an expensive school.
    Am enjoying being here

    Coming from Boston, MA, the first concern I had was not liking the school at all, or not making any friends. But without even visiting the school beforehand, I am confident in my decision to be here. Both students and faculty are friendly and welcoming, and there definitely is a place for everyone here.
    Am learning a lot

    I was typically not an attentive learner before I attended this institution. When you find the program that bests interests you, have faith in the faculty and staff for giving you an informative course in whichever it may be in. With healthy study habits it is more than possible to exceed academically at UNC.

    GET INVOLVED!!!!!! I can not stress that enough. If you get involved on campus then you will meet so many people and enrich your education on so many levels. I owe everything to the different clubs and organizations I am involved in. Through these things I was able to make a lot of friends, make connections with faculty and alumni around campus, have fun, and better my college experience.

    I feel that the tuition prices are not bad at all. The housing/dining is a little pricey but hey the dorms are great and the food is delicious so I can't complain too much! I also feel that the financial aid department is really helpful and they do whatever they can to make sure students get scholarships and grants that they deserve!

    UNC has presented me with so many opportunities. Because of my school I now have a job, am involved on multiple areas of the campus, and have made countless connections. The campus is beautiful and there are plenty of things for students to do around campus and in the community.
    Am learning a lot

    UNC is an excellent school when it comes to education. The class room sizes are small so you get plenty of one on one time with your professors. You also get the opportunity to get to know the rest of your classmates and form study groups. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every class I had and feel that I connected well with all of my professors; I still communicate with some!

    great school for students who are looking for art, and medical careers and along with the best of teaching schools. This school needs great students who are hardworking and take school seriously!
    Tips for prospective students

    try to get out of paying for campus living, it's not that great nor is it worth it, live with your parents as long as you can so they can pay for more things other than yourself, spend a lot of time studying and even if homework isn't a big deal in you classes, do it and take it seriously! it will help! don't stay up too late and get a good amount of sleep and for god's sake stay OUT of 8 am classes!

    The price of this school is great! unless you have to pay for living on campus, the price is way to high for even the smallest and oldest dorm room... The food is over priced as well, it's mostly frozen stuff that's pretty bland. Other than having to pay for living expenses the school is very affordable and great, well worth the money!

    I do like the campus a lot but for me living up there isn't the best for me, it's hard for me to focus during the evenings and I don't quite like the food myself. Sleeping at nights was kind of hard because since it is college, there are some people who don't seem to sleep and make a ruckus all night or late into the early morning.
    Am learning a lot

    The classes and faculty are great so far, a few of my teachers were kind of hard to get used to with their teaching style being kind of high and dry, but the classes overall have helped me learn more about myself as a student. Through my first year I've learned what it takes to be a Bear and learning more better studying habits.

    there is a network of tunnels underground that few have ever seen (i have seen them but not gone inside). rumor is you get expelled if they catch you there.

    great frolf course, dorm life is awesome, nice fields all over for various sports, fantastic rec center, uc is cool, etc...

    all-you-can-eat buffet style award-winning dining. get ready for the freshman 15 if you're not careful! lot of healthy options though for the disciplined!

    i was an ra/senior ra for 3 years at unc and i loved it!!! great communities, great facilities, great dining! do it!!!
    Academic Rigor

    school has always come very easily to me, but my upper-level classes were certainly challenging. however, i learned more in them than i ever thought i could and gained great real-life experience, which ultimately led to job options even in a depressed economy. i had more options when i graduated than anyone i knew.
    Tips for prospective students

    take advantage of your opportunities. there are tons of them, but you have to take action. network like crazy because you will meet awesome people who will do awesome things. apply yourself and meet your teachers. it's not just learning for the sake of it anymore; you're preparing for real life. if you don't know the answer on a test, no big deal. if you don't know the answer in a job interview, you flip burgers. college is not the time to cut corners!

    perfect campus size; small enough to feel like you know tons of people but big enough to grant you crazy awesome experiences. through unc, i was able to compete nationally in business competitions, do real-life marketing projects for big companies like wells fargo, and meet major business and political leaders nationally.

    Food and Dining

    The food in the dining area is fantastic. there are 3 available food courts around on campus two in the respective dorm areas and 1 in the middle of the campus. They are accessible to everyone on campus with a meal plan. The food is all you can eat and is delicious. From meals like pizza, Chinese food, to hamburgers and desserts with cookies and cake, this is definitely an amazing place when it come to food.
    Dorm Life

    The University is full of friendly people that are just waiting to make new friends. The west campus has many people and gives off a more modern feel around the university. With dorms with 100+ people if you like to meet a lot of new people that is the side for you. Central campus has smaller resident dorms but allows for a more intimate group of people to get close too. A more calm area but still just as bit fun.
    Academic Rigor

    The classes here are much smaller than in other universities. With classes maxing to 20-30 students the smaller classes actually allow the teachers to get to know their students and get down to a much deeper way of teaching than they could in big lecture class. They can actually learn your name, the high school like size feels familiar and not to intimidating, and during class they make sure that everyone gets the topics so that they can get good grades

    Campus Safety

    Very safe campus we have emergency polls with buttons every so many yards. Also, you can call UNC PD and have an officer escort you to your dorm.
    Greek Life

    At first I hated Greek life, but I decided my senior year to join a sorority and it was so worth it. I think I only saw the bad side of Greek life during my first three years. I recommend you visit EVERY sorority or fraternity before you decide which fit is best for YOU.
    Clubs and Activities

    LULAC, Pi Lambda Chi Latina Sorority Inc., camera club, mecha, etc..

    Although I'm not crazy about Greeley, I am crazy about UNC! I am so glad that I chose to attend here; I wouldn't change my decision 4 years later. Also it's nice because they have a graduate program, so you can continue on to receive your Master's or PhD after you graduate from your undergrad.
    What to do for fun

    The recreation center (swimming, volleyball, basketball, etc.), various clubs, Greek life, sky nightclub, the library (oxygen and liquid bar), and the Whiskey River!
    Food and Dining

    It's nice to not have to cook, but the food can get repetitive.
    Dorm Life

    You should live in the dorms at least one year. I met all of my friends in the dorm rooms freshman year; we're still friends 3 years later and plan on being friends for life.
    Academic Rigor

    The classes here are challenging, but most teachers are willing to help you. Due to smaller classes, teachers get the opportunity to really get to know you and actually teach you.
    Tips for prospective students

    Visit the campus and visit the program you're interested in. If you want to remain in a smaller campus reside on Central Campus, but if you want to be on the livelier side reside on East Campus.

    Smaller size campus with a huge variety! Smaller classes= better relationship with professors! This campus is really chill- everyone fits in.

    The business schools is one of the best in the nation.

    At night, UNC offers a safety policy where you can call and policemen will take the time to escort you to your destination.
    Greek Life

    Greek Life is a great way to get to know people. Along with Greek Life, UNC offers Multicultural Greeks as well. Either way, it's a great opportunity to get involved with many students just like you!
    Clubs and Activities

    Clubs at UNC are great because there is a wide range of different clubs to get involved in. Here at UNC there are environmental clubs, sport clubs, culture clubs, etc.
    What to do for fun

    Bingo nights are great and they give out fun prizes! Watching movies and kicking it at the bowling alley is also lots of fun.
    Food and Dining

    The food is great at UNC. There is a great variety of foods for each meal of the day. They do a great job of providing fresh produce as well.
    Dorm Life

    It's great to meet new people and living in a different atmosphere. The dorms at UNC have great Resident Assistants that are ready for any questions you may have. They also help you get involved with activities.
    Academic Rigor

    The teachers at UNC are helpful and put their time and effort to help their students achieve excellence.
    Tips for prospective students

    Use your resources such as tutors. Keep up with your studies but also get involved. It is a great way to meet new people.

    Campus Safety

    UNCO has it's own police and panic buttons along the walking paths. You can call UNCO police at any time and they will come help you ever if it's just that you have a late class and don't want to walk back to your dorm alone in the dark. Plus they are really friendly officers.
    Greek Life

    Greek life is great. It provides you with an close knit group but they don't make people that are not part of the greek life feel like outsiders.
    Clubs and Activities

    So many clubs and activities and so much to do, and if it doesn't already exist it's easy to start. To start a club all you need is ten people and student councils 'okay'.
    Great for these types of students

    For all types of students. Students that like the outdoors, or like staying inside to do things. Great for people that love music or love sports. But UNCO is really great for anyone that wants to study in a field that helps people. For future teachers, nurses, actors, business starters and people that love science.
    Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    We have a tunnel that is painted by the students that runs from one the West side of campus under a street to get to the central side of campus. This way students don't have to wait for traffic.
    Bang for the buck

    The dinning hall is buffet style so you can eat as much as you want. The dorms are really nice so you really get your monies worth. You pay for a year pass at the gym so have fun using it. Also UNCO isn't the most expensive school but they really can give you a great education.
    What to do for fun

    Play a sport UNCO has the normal sports but we also have flag football, frisbee golf, rock climbing and much more. The gym is great and we have movie nights in the pool. If you like reading the library has a cafe and lots of confortable chairs. Join a club, if UNCO doesn't have the club you want get ten people together and start your own club.
    Food and Dining

    The students work in the dinning halls so your friends are making your food. This is great because they don't fix things they wouldn't want to eat. Plus there are 3 dinning halls on campus that serve different things at every meal giving everyone something they will enjoy.
    Dorm Life

    No matter which dorm you pick at UNCO it will be great! Plus they are usually really good at matching roommates that are compatible. Giving dorm life at UNCO it's own flavor and giving you a new friend for life.
    Academic Rigor

    Just as every individual is different so are college professors. Just like anywhere else in life, you will have some classes/ professors that are hard and some that are an easy gradient from high school. Go to class, do your homework early and you will do well at UNCO.
    Tips for prospective students

    Come visit our campus and feel free to ask as many questions as you want. College is an important step in life and UNCO makes that step easy so my biggest tip is come ready to go to class and learn, but don't be afraid to make like an adventure. Try new sports, make new friends, eat everything in the dinning hall at least once and don't forget to smile.

    I feel really, really safe on campus. The police are hardworking and vigilant, offering different services like an escort system - if you're studying late at night at either of the libraries, and you don't feel safe walking home alone, the campus police will arrive and make sure you get home safely. They're very adamant about making sure everyone is aware of what's going on around campus, and student safety is their number one priority.
    Greek Life

    Although I personally am not involved, the Greek Life on campus is very large. Huge groups rush every year, and the fraternities and sororities do a lot of charity work each month.
    Clubs and Activities

    There's a club for everybody - and I mean everybody. Even if you can't find something that fits your specific needs, all you need is four people and a form from the Club Offices to start it up!
    Great for these types of students

    Students who are pursuing a degree in the Performing Arts are highly encouraged to attend. With an extensive alumni network and some of the best professors across the country, UNC is the perfect place to hone your skills.
    Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    Homecoming Week is just full of school spirit - and lots of friendly competition to get you pumped up for the big game. Around Halloween, the campus's haunted hot spots come together to create Haunted Harrison, a thrilling (and sometimes terrifying!) haunted house to entertain.

    UNC is a relatively inexpensive college - not to say you won't have to shell out the big bucks, but the education you receive is more than worth the amount you have to pay.
    What to do for fun

    While Greeley is a quiet college town, it's only a quick drive away from Denver, Fort Collins, and Loveland, all great places to go eat food, shop, and socialize with your friends.

    While the dining halls aren't exactly five star restaurants, the food is suitable enough to eat every single day. They offer different options each meal, with an entire to-go bar dedicated to those days where you just don't have enough time to sit down.
    Dorm Life

    The dorms are suited for your needs, with floors in each building dedicated to a different community or lifestyle. It's really great to be able to connect with people who are passionate about the same stuff you are, and generally, the best way to find your closest friends is to go around your hall and just talk to people. The dorms themselves are clean and cozy, with everything you might need.
    Academic Rigor

    The classes are challenging enough that I feel like I'm being pushed to think and work very hard, but not so much that I feel overwhelmed or unprepared.
    Tips for prospective students

    Prepare yourself to work hard - if you want to keep up a GPA that's above a 3.0, you have to know how to study, you have to go to class, and you have to feel passionate about what you're doing. Don't let yourself get swept up in the idea of college, make sure you pay attention to your classes.

    UNC is a wonderful place for someone trying to get a degree in Acting or Musical Theater. The professors are outstanding, the people are friendly, and the atmosphere is just competitive enough to keep you on your toes, but not so much that you feel under appreciated. It's wonderful.

    There are little blue posts all around campus that alert the police if there if anyone presses the button on them. But, these have never needed to be used, because this campus is very safe.
    Bang for the buck

    With CU and CSU not too far away, these three schools are always compared. But the truth is is that UNC is the most affordable, and you get your money's worth.
    What to do for fun

    With this school being so into the performing arts, there is always something to do around campus. There are plays, band concerts, and art exhibits all the time. We also house a variety of Division I athletic teams if that is your thing. The city of Greeley may not be the most exciting place in the world, but there are things to do none the less. There are different clubs and bars located not far off campus if that is your kind of thing.
    Food and Dining

    The food here at UNC is superb. You never get bored, because there is always something new. With three dining halls throughout campus, you are never to far away from your next meal.
    Dorm Life

    There are dorms here for every type of person. If you want to live with a lot of people, you can have that. If you want a more quiet experience, they have that too. None of the dorms are overly expensive, which makes picking the right one even easier, because cost is not an issue.
    Academic Rigor

    You get out of it what you put in. There are programs made to challenge you, such as the Honors Program, or the Presidential Leadership Program. But if you are here to slide through college, that can be done as well.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you are looking for a school for performing arts, teaching, or nursing, look no further. That is not to say that the other programs are not top notch as well. UNC is a close-knit community that will help you reach whatever your goal maybe.

    Northern Colorado is a friendly school that offers a variety of different programs. The campus is large, but really feels like home. The staff really connect with students, which makes the whole experience even better.

    I definitely think that it is worth the money. So if you have the opportunity to come to the school, you should take it. There are plenty of events to always attend that are really interesting and appealing to any crowd.

    The campus is not very big but its not too small either. So there are a lot of mutual friendships and connections made. I personally stay in a smaller dorm on central campus and everyone in the dorm gets along so its like a big family. In all the campus in general is like a home away from home.
    Am learning a lot

    I am actually learning a lot more and understanding concepts here at UNC better than I did in high school.

    Bang for the buck Very much so. UNC offers so many opportunities to help students succeed. Such as free tutoring, job fairs, scholarship fairs, a variety of clubs, an abundance of sororities and fraternities and support groups. The library is beautiful. Each level has a different noise level so you can be social while you study or you can study alone.
    Will enjoy being here

    The campus is beautiful. Being on summer break, I miss walking along the sidewalks under the gorgeous trees. I also miss gazing at the detailed architecture of the dorms and lecture halls. I love the small class size and the professors seemed so determined to have every student succeed, no matter how big the class is. UNC also offers great tutoring services which includes one on one or supplemental instruction (group).
    Will learn a lot

    I had no idea I could cram so much information into my head. I find myself doing everyday activities and understanding so much more about them that I did before. I am constantly learning new things and realizing how wonderful this campus really is.

    Take a tour of the campus and really investigate about where you want to live for your first year. Living in the dorms gives you a great opportunity to meet people and then join clubs and groups. Look at the UNC website to get more information on the many groups and clubs. Also, UNC has a great Tutoring center. Here you can receive help for different courses you might be struggling in.

    Although college is expensive, UNC offers many scholarships and financial aid opportunities. All the money is worth it in the end, when you reach that goal of getting a degree and continuing down your personal career path.

    The campus at UNC is very friendly and the dorms gave me a great learning experience. The campus is very diverse and there are many clubs and groups to get involved in.

    I really enjoy the classes here at UNC. The professors are very helpful and they make sure that the students are getting the most out of their classes. There is also a variety of classes, ranging from music classes like Concert Band to different choir classes, and multiple science, English, and math courses.

    I am looking forward to this coming fall. The campus is the perfect size and seems like there is a bit of everything for anyone who is searching. The campus tour guides are enthusiastic but not Stepford Wife scary. They actually shared a lot of info and made me feel like this is a good decision.

    Visits would suggest that the instructors are definitely into helping one succeed. Previous comments would also indicate that one only has to try to be successful so I give it high marks before I start a class.

    Do not be afraid to experience all of the fun new things that happen around campus! Don't be afraid to join a club or walk up to the table set up in the middle of the hall! It is okay to ask questions and meet new people!

    There are tons and tons of scholarships that you can apply for at UNC. Not to mention the ones they give out at orientation!!! The money that you will spend here is well worth the education that you are going to get! There is so much more to experience and take from this college than just what you paid for! Its the college experience as a whole that you are paying for. In my opinion, you can not put a price on what you take away from this school. Besides, it happens to be on the cheaper side than that of most Division 1 schools!

    I must admit to you when I was looking for colleges to attend, UNC wasn't my first choice. However, the only thing that stopped me from looking into it was the fact that it was too close to home. Turns out, you can't have a college too close to home! UNC has one of the best campus atmospheres! Everyone here is super friendly from the janitors to the UNC President, and everyone in between! You are bound to get a smile and a hello from anyone you pass in the hall or on the sidewalk! The class sizes are awesome, not too small but not too overwhelmingly huge. The teachers are all very friendly and really care about your success as a student. There is always something fun going on around campus. You have free group fitness classes, open mic night Mondays, free movie on the hill on Sundays, bingo on Wednesdays, and the list just goes on! I have yet to experience a dull moment at UNC and I have been here going on 3 three years now! Some more excellent highlights include; indoor track in our student rec center, 4 story library, great dinning hall food, and a disc golf course that goes right through campus! I recommend that you at the VERY LEAST come and VISIT! UNC is a MUST SEE! Also a must attend, if i might add! =]

    In every single one of my classes I have learned a lot! The teachers make learning interesting! Yes you have the boring classes that are only lectures sometimes, but that doesn't mean you don't learn! Every Time that you step foot into a classroom, you will walk out being more knowledgeable than you were before you walked in!

    This school has helped me so much with financial aid and allowed me to have a work study job on campus to help pay for college. Also, the fees are less than a lot of bigger schools.

    I love that my classes are not much bigger than my high school classes. My smallest class is 21 and I love being able to know everyone in that class and interact with them (my largest class is around 60). I also love all the different events that go around on campus, the community, the way people hold the door for me when entering a building, the nice professors, and the dinning halls food is great.
    Am learning a lot

    College is a whole new experience, so I am learning things about myself, life, and education. I am taking five classes cureently and all of the classes are new subjecta areas for me. My favorite is my history class due to the lectures' uniqueness.

    DO THE FAFSA EARLY! APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS! Keep your classes interesting; take what you have to, but pick something that interests you as well. There are so many classes at UNC that you should only HAVE to take a few, and WANT to take the rest.

    I am definitely getting what I am paying for. There are a few classes that are a little hard to sit through, but it happens that way with general education courses. Financial Aid is an amazing thing and I love my workstudy job!

    Visit the campus, talk to students-- you can talk to me if you need to-- try to see that this really is a great school. I have not come across any major issues that frustrated me with the school. Look at some of the programs offered and opportunities for student positions. UNC was nowhere near my first choice for school and I was not extremely happy about having to attend, but I fell in love with it after about a month. I'm sure you will love it too! :)

    It is hard to ever be satisfied with paying tons of money for school (so make sure you have lots of scholarship money!) but UNC is one of the cheaper Universities in Colorado. I think a lot of people try to say that UNC is not as good of a school as other Colorado universities because of the price, but there are many programs in which UNC is highly merited for. I have also found that my instructors are incredibly qualified and that I am learning a lot. If the education was shady, I would not return next semester... but I am :)

    People will say all kinds of horrible things about Greeley-- because it is a very small town and there is a meat packing plant close by which DOES cause it smell every once in awhile-- but I have been able to find everything I need to be successful and happy in Greeley. Moreover, Fort Collins and Loveland are very nearby so if you need to leave the small town, you can. I love love love the campus. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. I love the feeling of community at UNC and am so extremely happy I ended up here.
    Am learning a lot

    I am a double major in English and Journalism and was very pleased to find the professors of classes for my majors to be not only extremely knowledgeable, but also professionals in their field. Classes are small (depending on the class, of course) my biggest class was around 60 and my smallest was 12. Many resources for learning and very approachable professors.

    Tour the campus. When I was looking at colleges I thought UNC would be my last option. When I toured the campus, I fell in love and I have never regretted choosing UNC for college.

In the year and a half that I've been at UNC, I have learned more than I think I learned in the four years I was in high school.     UNC is a great place for students with all kinds of interests. No matter what major you want to pursue UNC may have what you are looking for. Your personality and beliefs do not matter at all. UNC is a very diverse community that is full of new friends and experiences. So no matter what type of major or student you are,UNC can become the school for you.
    Tips for prospective students

    As a college freshman I would advise prospective UNC students to keep your grades up in High School. Grades as well as extracurricular activities will get you into UNC. Stay out of trouble as well, enjoy your senior year of high school, but do not get into trouble because you do not want to miss out on a great college experience especially at UNC. The last thing to let you know is apply for financial aid. Get as much as you possibly can even if they are loans. Do not let money keep you from attending UNC. If you have financial aid questions the UNC Financial Aid office will help you. UNC Also gives out grants and scholarships to incoming freshmen. They have a Universal scholarship application that you can fill out in January once you create an Ursa account. Again to get those scholarships and grants you need the grades and extracurricular activities. YOU REALLY NEED TO FILL OUT A FASFA FORM AS WELL!!!

    To attend UNC it costs about $20,000, but that is way less expensive than other four year universities. For that $20K students get a lot of perks. For starters students can choose from several residence halls either on Central Campus of West Campus. They are all really nice and they each have their own type of community. If you feel that one residence hall is not for you than you can change residence halls to where ever you want to live. In the residence halls students have FREE laundry, which is a big deal. Having free laundry makes life a little less stressful especially if you are not employed. One of the most amazing things that sets UNC apart from other campuses is that students get into UNC sporting events for FREE!! The greatest thing to me is the amazing dining hall food. There are three dining halls on campus to choose from. All three serve gourmet food and its all buffet style. If you don't feel like eating at the dining halls you can eat at some of the fast places offered at UNC. With your meal plan you get dining dollars. Each student gets $50 dining dollars. The dining dollars can be used at the fast food places or vending machines. Each residence hall has WiFi access which is free and so do the academic buildings. UNC also has a great workout facility that has an indoor track, swimming pool, weightlifting area, rock climbing wall, tennis and basketball courts. The best part about it is, it's free for students to use whenever they want. Those are some of the main perks for being a UNC student.

    UNC is full of life. There is always something to do. whether its going to a sporting event or just hanging out on the weekends with friends. There is always someone new to meet every week. Being on campus there is a greater sense of independence and it feels good, but with that independence there is more responsibility. One of the best parts of being at UNC is the summer time. The campus is beautiful. It's always nice to study outside on a blanket underneath a shady tree and beautiful green grass. The winters are nice as well. the snow piles up, which makes for a lot of fun when you want to have snowball fights with friends or if you want to build an igloo or a snow man. Overall the campus life is good for getting to know people and making memories with friends.
    Am learning a lot

    The University of Northern Colorado Greeley is a great place to be. So far I have gained both personal and academic knowledge. For example in English 122 I have learned that to become a better writer takes a lot of trial and error. You have to continue writing. Having your peers and your professor proofread your writing will make you a much better writer in the long run. When writing in college third person must be used, it allows you to state your opinion without saying I me or we. The intro class for my major was great. I learned so much about the justice system. Having the intro class to Criminal Justice made me realize that I really do want to pursue my career as a U.S. Marshal. As far as personal experience goes I have learned one big lesson. Time management is important for everything. There is always so much to do at UNC. The one thing that can hinder you from doing anything is having poor time management skills. Get your assignments started at least when they are assigned. That can save you a lot of time, stress and nights with only four hours of sleep. The last thing that I learned is that to have less stress and get to know more people you have to get involved in something. I am involved in two activities on campus. One is the Bear Cave Wrestling club and the other is the Navigators, which is a huge Christian organization on campus. In both these activities I have made many new friends and connections. Overall those are the things that I have learned this semester.

    Great for education majors. UNC started as a teachers school so our education program is awesome. Our nursing school is great as well, one of the most accredited in the country. Our business school is great, as well as our musical theater department.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you're looking for a big ivy league type school where everyone is extremely studious and serious all the time, UNC is not for you. Not that it's a joke school, but everyone is very laid back and knows how to have a good time.

    UNC is one of the less expensive schools in Colorado, but I feel as though they charge fees that aren't necessary.

    I LOVE the school and campus. The campus is beautiful, the buildings are nice. There's easy access to many resources including books, internet, and mentors from every job possible. I'm not a fan of the town of Greeley itself... it'd be nice to have more activities for college students. Most of us leave on the weekends to get away, but for education purposes, it's good.
    Am learning a lot

    I really feel as though my education has taken off through UNC. I've been learning a lot and I enjoy most of my classes. I do feel though that some classes are pointless when it comes to my major, I don't understand why I have to take these classes because they don't pertain to what I need for my future job, but I guess you never know what knowledge could be useful!

    We have 27 emergency poles on campus and UNC PD will respond to them in 2 minutes or less. UNC PD keeps us all very up-to-date and safe!
    Greek Life

    I'm not a part of greek life, but everyone I know who is loves it!

    If I had an unlimited supply of money, i would have stayed on campus all four years. Living on campus is great! The RAs are awesome, food is good, and the dorms are kept clean and well designed.

    Excellent level of academic challenge that allows you to be challenged and to challenge yourself while still leaving time for you to be you and have a life outside of class.

    Apply for as many scholarships as you can! You may not get all of them, but every little bit helps! Also, come to campus and take a tour, I'm sure you'll leave with a better idea of what UNC is like.

    Be prepared for the transition from high school to college. Ask questions to your professors, they love that about students. Have frequent meetings with advisers. Also get involved, the more you're involved the easier, and more fun the college experience will be.

    unc is very reasonable for in-state students. if you are not an out of state resident there are several great scholarship programs that really help bring the tuition down. overall the price is worth it!

    unc offers many different clubs. there is always some event going on here on campus. dorms also have their own events for residents. in greeley there isn't much besides shopping, but bigger cities offering any activity you could want are just a short drive away.

    unc has several great dining halls. the food is always hot and delicious. they also offer many to-go options for students with busy schedules.

    dorm life is great! all of unc's dormitories are recently renovated offering all students practically new living conditions. all dorms also offer free cable, internet, laundry, and recycling!

    freshman classes are created at a reasonably difficulty level to help students transfer to a new lifestyle. although the classes aren't necessarily the toughest things like gpa and honors programs are taken very seriously on campus.

    unc is not a party school. students are here to learn, it's all taken very seriously.

    unc is great school with a medium sized campus filled with all modern buildings and technologies. professors here on campus are great in fields of studies, and each major offers it's own free tutoring program. although greeley is a small rural town it's only a short drive to bigger cities such as fort collins and denver.

    there isn't a whole lot to do in greeley expect come to the sporting events and the things associated with the campus. there isn't much of a nightlife so it's good for people that came to study.

    the food is good, but you get tired of eating in the hall when they make the same food. they have gourmet to go which i normally get too spice things up or sometimes bear bistro.

    i stayed in the newest dorms and i loved it me and my roommates had a blast. it is safe comfortable and you have kitchens and laundry on every floor.

    the classes have been more challenging for me than i expected. it is not too overwhelming, but get the information through.

    AMAZING!!!! I could eat here for the rest of my life. many people complain about the repetitiveness of the food, but I just ask the chefs what I can mix to make it taste good. So I end up with a new plate everyday.

    Clean, roomy, West Campus aren't as social, but they are way nicer. so take your pick.
    Academic Rigor

    Bottom line is that you get what you put into the class. Some classes here, you can pull A's and learn nothing and it doesn't motivate many students to apply themselves in the class room. The mathematics, music, and philosophy programs are top notch. Over all, if you visit the teacher during office hours, and go to class with an open mind; you'll learn a lot. Not just about the subject, but about life.

    This University has amazing academic opportunities if one applies themselves. It is not a very competitive school when it comes to academics or athletics; but it is when it comes to who can get more drunk. There are many many parties, and outdoorsy stuff (hiking, snowboarding, rock climbing) is closer if you choose a front range school.

    The campus is very safe. I always feel comfortable on campus, regardless of the time of day, and campus police make regular patrols. The university also issues a bulletin regarding recent events in the Greeley area and dangers to be aware of.
    What to do for fun

    The campus hosts some interesting activities, they do inexpensive film screenings in Michener Hall and host regular student gatherings. Fortunately, the campus is also very close to down-town Greeley, which is small, but pretty nice. Unfortunately, there is NOT a bookstore in Greeley... just as a warning for future students, the nearest Barnes and Noble is 20 miles away.
    Food and Dining

    From what little I have seen of the food and dining services at UNC, they seem adequate. However, there are several small restaurants near the campus which serve excellent food for relatively cheap. If you find yourself in Greeley, check out Roma's pizza - it's fresh, hot, and amazing.
    Dorm Life

    I really couldn't comment on dorm life - I never had the opportunity to live in one.
    Academic Rigor

    Though the school did not offer the most innovative approach to English literature, the program focuses very strongly on foundations and theory. The level of difficulty depends, of course, entirely on the professor, but over all the courses are challenging without being soul-crushing, and they lend themselves to interesting discussions and an open learning environment.

    I am very satisfied with the education that I received from my undergraduate degree; I feel like my foundation in my chosen major is very strong, and I have high hopes for the graduate program. You get out what you put in.

    Get out and take a walk, play some volleyball on one of the lawns, go support the Bears and join the Klaws Crew! Can't go wrong with any of those.

    The food is great! I got to enjoy a meal at one of the three cafes on campus for my New Admitted Student Day, and boy did I get full! They have different selections everyday, and you get to choose what you eat! Horray for not having to eat the same school lunch everyday like you did in high school!
    Dorm Life

    All of the dorms on campus have been renovated at one point or another, and they are all very nice facilities. I would recommend staying on West Campus if you can though. They are the nicest of them all, having been renovated the most recently of all of the dorms. Central Campus has some very nice cultured buildings though, and all of the rooms seem to be very clean. That is...until the students get there. haha.
    Academic Rigor

    Most kids go to college thinking that all they will do is sit in a lecture hall and do nothing but listen to a teacher talk in a monotone voice about the subject for the day. I got the chance to sit in on a class, and it was very interesting, the students were participating, and I actually learned something!!

    Get involved. It will help you make new friends on campus that you will have for the rest of your life.

    I would say the best tip is to get involved. If you get involved you are going to have an amazing experience as a freshman. Also as a tip I would say to be careful who you room with. Don't choose someone you went to high school with no matter how good of friends you are try to get someone new.

    The campus is very safe. There are always campus police patrolling the school and surrounding areas, as well as emergency help pillars all over campus. There is a blue button you can press and within moments a police officer will be there to help you. You can also call for a police escort to walk you across campus at any time day or night.

    I haven't personally been involved but In know we have many sororities and fraternities. Both are very active with events on campus and in the community.

    There is a large variety of clubs and activities you can get involved in on campus. The best way to check them out is at the fall bazaar at the beginning of the school year. Or you can also go online to the school website or stop by the information desk at the UC.
    What to do for fun

    I would suggest heading out of Greeley to Fort Collins. It's the town over (about 45 min. away) The town is bustling with college students. Check out old town its filled with cool little shops, fun places to eat, and there are fairs and event going on year round. There are also some amazing places to go hiking, dog parks, and places to swim.
    Food and Dining

    The food in the dorms are pretty decent and they have a wide variety to choose from. On Central campus there is Toby and Kendall (TK), on West there is Holmes, and at the University Center (UC) there is the food court as well as Taco Bell, Starbucks, Subway, Einstein Bagels, and a Mini Mart. So there are lots of options!
    Dorm Life

    UNC has many different dorms on both sides of campus (West Campus and Central Campus). Central Campus is where many theater, music, and nursing students live. I have experienced living on both sides of campus. Both are nice, but if suggest Central Campus for those that prefer a smaller sized dorm and West Campus for those that like a large capacity dorm. Also most LAC courses will be mainly on the West side of campus.
    Academic Rigor

    The academics here are challenging, but that's a good thing in my opinion. It pushes you to learn all that you can and helps prepare you for the real world and your future career. Also the school offers free tutoring for many classes, i would suggest taking advantage of this!
    Tips for prospective students

    The best advice i can give is to really pay attenetion in your classes. Try to absorb as much as you can. You are being taught this information for a reason! Also utilize your professors as much as you need they are there to help you succeed. And lastly get involved with clubs or activities on campus its a great way to make friends and get to know your school and community.

    This depends on what you like to do. If a small town isn't your style , there's always those who make the drive to Ft. Collins and hang out there. If not the school has plenty of things and activities. You just have to be aware of them and go join.

    This really depends on the day, sometimes the food is good and there's variety. Some days it's not so good and you might want to eat out around the school. Luckily there's a few good places around for food, including : Subway, Chipotle, Taste of Philly, and other places.
    Dorm Life

    There's a good variety of dorms at school. Some very nice and slightly costly, to average (sharing a bathroom), etc. People are friendly and helpful if you need it. Enjoy your stay! Be friendly and open to meeting different kinds of people. If things don't go well you can always change rooms, dorms, etc.

    A lot of class's are easy to pass so long as you show up and turn in work. There is also a lot you can get out of each class so it's good to make it count and learn something. Some classes do require reading and a lot of analytic writing and it is more academically challenging but that's a good thing, right? :)

    Go to class at least very often and make good study habits. It's fairly simple to keep your grades up. Don't spend too much time partying first semester (don't mess up your GPA), but have fun! If you have any doubts ask on campus, so many people have helpful tips and information for you!

    In the city of Greeley, Colorado, The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) resides between two conflicting demographics: lower income and middle income households. In addition, Greeley has a high rate of gang activity. Therefore, UNC receives more than its fair share of criminal activity. Fortunately, the UNC Police Department has done an excellent job of reducing the risk of crime to students. However, additional measures could be taken off-campus to insure this same degree of safety.
    Greek Life

    Within the University of Northern Colorado, Greek Life pretty much runs the Student Senate. Having been a pledge for several Greek Life organizations, I have come to the conclusion that they were not worth my time, money, or drama. Although, if you are in dispirit need of a very close group of friends, than the sacrifices may be worth it.

    The University of Northern Colorado offers a plethora of events throughout the year. However, many of the organizations that plan the events fail to entice students to participate.

    I have always resided off campus.
    Academic Rigor

    The rating above has been determined though my baccalaureate programs and general education courses. I would rate the two programs, Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality and Environmental and Sustainable Studies programs, five out of five stars. The programs deserve this rating due to the intensity of their critical thinking and practical curriculum components. However, my experience with the general education courses drop the overall score one star because of the lack of academic rigor in the components stated above.
    Tips for prospective students

    1. Make it a priority each year to apply for grants and scholarships well enough in advance. 2. Develop a relationship with your professors to receive the many hidden benefits from doing so. 3. Invest yourself into the campus community to develop a sense of pride towards your school.

    There are lots of opportunities to participate in around campus, with other people and other residents. There is a night club close to campus called Whiskey River which is fun to go to on Wednesday nights. Each hall and RA has their own activities which are fun to participate in to get to know other people from your building better.

    The food is rather tasty! The hours of the dining hall are complicated and sometimes don't work with schedules, but they are open for a few hours at a time. The menus are very diverse and there is a lot to choose from.

    The dorms are really nice and cozy. The Residents Assistants do their jobs well. The people are generally respectable of their environment and the people around them.

    While on campus, it is safe. The UNC Police do a great job of responding if there is any trouble, and there are emergency call poles scattered around campus. Like any town, Greeley can be kinda sketchy in areas, but just be smart and everything will be fine :)

    Outgoing people tend to do well at UNC. Like I said, it is not the greatest town for going out, so if you establish good friendships, then you will have a blast.

    The entire campus is beautiful. Especially in the summer! Just take time to walk around it. Try out the smaller restaurants around campus, they're usually overlooked, but DELICIOUS!

    The tuition of UNC is cheap compared to CSU or CU and I believe that I am receiving an EXCELLENT education. As an elementary ed major, UNC is filled with teachers who love to teach. Rarely do you find a professor that does not love what they're doing, and that makes it worth the money.
    What to do for fun

    Make friends! Greeley is not a town geared for going out. There are a few good spots, but I spend most of my time just hanging out with friends and utilizing what the school already provides, such as the rec center or the events at the UC.
    Food and Dining

    The dining halls are great and always have a pretty decent variety of food. Lunch at the UC is the best becaues they have a panini station that you can create your own panini and they're delicious!
    Dorm Life

    I think that every freshman should live in Harrison, especially if you do not know many people going to UNC. It is a great, great building for making friends and always gives the residents something to do. Gotta love Big Harry :)
    Academic Rigor

    You get out of the class what you put into it. If you challenge yourself, you will love this school that much more!
    Tips for prospective students

    GO TO CLASS! And read the text book. You don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for a few paper weights. The books are almost always interesting, especially when you get in your Major specific classes.

    UNC is a great school because of the sense of community. Altough there are two campuses, the school still feels small and close because of all the nice people and the UC. Plus, it's close to the Rocky Mountains, and who doesn't love that??

    I'm afraid the only thing negative about UNC is it's in a very boring town. There's not much to do. Find a good group of friends, though, and you'll never be bored.

    There are three dining halls. Two of them are very nice and have lots of choices.

    The dorms are very nice and on the off chance you need to change rooms, the process to do so isn't too complicated and is completed in a matter of days.

    The LAC classes are fairly easy. The math classes depend on the professors.

    The sooner you discover what you want to major in, the sooner you can get an adviser that will help you and you can turn to him/her for advice.

    The campus is very small compared to normal Universities. i fell as if you can walk from place to place if you needed to at night by your self but i know that is not smart t do alone. UNC has a number you can call for assistance for someone to walk you place to place if you needed it. people are all ways out. parking lots stay lit. and all dorms need a student i.d to let you in. they also have a program where they will email you r text you when something has happened in the community. UNC's surrounding area may be bad but the campus is safe.

    UNC has amazing clubs and all ways has activities going on. Name a sport and there is a club for it, name a hobbies and there is a club for it, name a culture group and there is a club for that as well. And lets say there is a club you would like to join but some how UNC does not have it yet, they will help you, and help provide money for you to start the club!

    THERE IS ALL WAYS SOME THING TO DO! Sounds crazy but its true! Other then what is around campus; Bowling, house parties, mall, movies, food, and clubs. must people go to Denver or Fortcollins for night life fun

    There food is amazing they have a variety of foods in the dinning halls, and they always have an open salad bar, fruit bar sandwich bar, and ice cream. they also have fast food locations on campus as well. but providing three different places to eat throw out the small campus you can compair there food menus and pick what you think sounds good for that day, and they all are in walking distances no mater where you are located on campus. Holmes dinning hall is normally more crowded (not long lines but hard to find a good seat) and holds more of the sports players and louder, party people. Tobey Kendel dinning hall is normally more of the theater crowd and much quieter and spacier. UC dinning is more of a busy seen for students who are meeting together(located in the middle of campus), and finishing up work while eating. (you will get tired of the food if you are a freshmen but once you become an upperclassmen and no longer live on campus or no longer have a meal plan you will miss the food. A lot!)
    Dorm Life

    Harrison is the one of the freshmen dorms. it is steps from the dinning hall, recenter, football field, basketball games, library, classes, and tutoring. its hot in the summer, but they have free laundry. living in dorms at UNC allows you to always be a part of the campus life and to get involved with at the activities they have. i truly believe that living in dorms gets you involved, known, and helps create friends you will have for your college years and beyond.
    Academic Rigor

    There are all ways teachers that care more then others and UNC has a lot of teachers who care. They have a lot of people you can go and talk to and who are willing to help you. some class sizes are big but the teacher still knows who you are and is willing to work with you.

    Greeley is small, and quiet. But the more people you know, the more you decide to be outgoing the more amazing, fun, active and lively Greeley becomes.

    What to do for fun

    UNC has a nine hole disc golf course on campus, and there are many students who take advantage of the vastness of the campus grounds. It is common to see students outside reading, having picnics, even napping! Also, there are close shops, bistros, and cafes that are within walking distance of campus.

    UNC's food court and dining area is without question impressive and inviting. Every time I enter the university center, it is filled with a variety of people. Food and dining on campus itself is filled with variety, offering different and healthy options of foods.
    Dorm Life

    Although I never experienced dorm life, I have met several students who have spoken highly of dorm living. Living on campus gives students an opportunity to services like outdoor activities, recreation center, and other events. Especially important, is the security felt when on campus; there are safety lights throughout campus and emergency buttons available.
    Academic Rigor

    I received my AA from a local community college, and to transfer from there to a university was most challenging. As difficult as the transition was, I had help from my peers and the staff, who are always available and do their best to make sure your questions are answered.

    My biggest advice for prospective students is simple; take every opportunity presented (especially by faculty), make friends with the reference librarians, and equally important, do not procrastinate! If you follow these simple tips, you will not only be successful, but you will have set a foundation for yourself and others; and you will use your time in a constructive manner.

    There are many options for food. The school has two dining halls, one on central campus and one on west. This is convenient when your classes are in different places. You can see the menu for the week ahead of time, so you can choose where to go. There is also a food court in the university center.

    Living in the dorms is great. I've made some of my closest friends there. Central campus has a lot more of a community feel than west campus though.

    Classes are definitely challenging as you go on, but they do a good job of preparing you, taking you increasingly to higher levels, rather than throwing you in the deep end.

    I am not involved in Greek life but I know people who are and they love it. So, regardless of who you are, if you have a tiny bit of interest check it out.
    Clubs and Activities

    I have been involved in the swing dance club on campus called Tenth Avenue Swing and it has been some of the best times I have had in college. You don't need a partner or experience and you make some lifelong friendships. There are also TONS of other clubs. I think we even have a club themed off of the middle ages and a zombie club last time I checked. Just look around and pay attention to the posters around campus, that's the best way to see what they have.

    Something I would recommend doing at least once id going on the haunted tour of campus to hear all of the ghost stories, if you are into those things. I really liked it.
    What to do for fun

    It depends on whether you are 21 or not. If you are not there are tons of clubs and events on campus that are awesome. There are also places to hang out like the bowling ally, the parks, etc. If you are 21 there are some fun bars and night clubs. My favorites are the Jegar and Patrick's Pub.

    The food is pretty good on campus.

    It depends on where you live and who your RA is. I personally didn't really get involved in dorm life. However, from those I know that did, I have heard mostly great things.

    It really depends on the individual professors and the class. Some classes are harder, some are not. There are also many academic programs available for the more dedicated scholars.

    Look into clubs and organizations to get involved in. There is something for everyone if you look for it. Getting involved helps with time management and being on task with your academics.

    I honestly wish this were an area that UNC would be more involved in. The university does have security that walks around 24/7 on campus, but I think a few more bodies per shift would help me to be and feel safe and protected, especially when walking around at night.

    Greek life is everywhere. People are proud to show off their role in the sororities and fraternities on campus, because it is a great opportunity for getting out there more. Plus, they know how to keep campus interesting!

    While there may not be as many clubs and activities as other universities, many people participate in the ones that are currently on campus. So it is much easier to meet new people while enjoying more general, but fun clubs and activities.

    It is a great university for nursing majors. I have found that many people pursuing nursing take their work very seriously, and make college very professional in most contexts.

    This is definitely the most efficient school in the state as far as costs and accreditation are concerned. I know that here I am receiving a quality education, and awesome experiences without putting myself forever into debt.

    Every day there is something going on around campus. Wether it be sporting events, diversity programs, movie nights, or just a general invitation to meet people who have similar interests, UNC has it. You will never run out of things to do here on campus.

    The myriad of meals and food options offered here are outstanding. Iv'e tried foods from the dining halls that Iv'e never even heard of before, but because the campus is well cultured I think it has brought those new flavor opportunities out into the open for other people to try and enjoy while still being held at high quality standards. Plus, theres almost always pizza which is the easier food to live of of in college.

    The Dorms are absolutely wonderful and very well cared for. I personally have the privilege of staying in the most esteemed and expensive dorm on campus that has really brought my college experience to life. People are friendly and always welcome around the halls which makes staying here more fun and enjoyable as a whole.

    The courses offered here are encouraging me to learn and apply my knowledge daily, which I find incredibly valuable. It's not zoo difficult to the point where I'm pulling out my hair, but just hard enough to make me work towards my goals.

Personally, I believe the University of Northern Colorado has offered a great environment with quality education, suitable for really anyone seeking higher education, but the choice will always be yours.

    UNC is great for almost anyone. Most of the people I've met have been music or education majors, but there are people from all types of passions that attend.

    You get out of UNC what you put into it; it is worth the money as long as you aren't slacking off and are actually engaging in the learning and community.

    The meal plan choices are good; you can pay less if you don't plan on eating every meal, which a lot of people don't simply because of schedule conflicts. The food at Tobey Kendel is okay. Holmes seems to be the favourite of most students. The University Centre is only open for lunch. There are two options for students with no time to dine: you can either grab Gourmet To Go or get Bear On The Run (however much of the dining food you can fit into a to-go box and cup).

    The dorms are nice. They are bigger than I expected for two people. As long as you don't bring too many things you won't be needing, there is plenty of space.

    The classes are fairly easy as long as you do the work that is assigned to you.

    When you sign up for classes, make sure they are not on the complete other side of campus when you have a class that ends fifteen minutes before in another building.

    I don't live in the dorms because I live in a small town outside of Greeley. I have the opportunity to live at home and still attend classes. However, my friends live in the dorms so I spend alot of time there. The dorms are fantastic!

    Sadly, there's not much to do around Greeley. There are a few 18+ nightclubs and bars, but most times the action is either a house party or going to Ft. Collins. But, if you are a night owl but not a party animal, a late night Wal-Mart adventure with your friends is always enjoyable.

    Timing. It's all about timing. You learn quickly the best times to go and eat and when it's so busy that it's not worth it. The dining hall food is really not bad, but sometimes it's a matter of nothing looks appetizing. They also offer plenty of daytime, on-campus retail dining. And lots of places deliver until late.
    Dorm Life

    Sometimes people are really loud really late at night, but for the most part, it's a pleasant time meeting people and getting along with your roommate.
    Academic Rigor

    I feel really challenged in my classes, but also feel like I can learn the material at my pace without struggling.

    I would say, don't be afraid to ask for help. If you have a question, ask the teacher during the lecture, afterwards, or in an email. Or, go to tutoring, because it's free. Also, there are a lot of free things that you can use, so don't forget about them.

    There are Emergency stations located throughout campus where you can push a button for police to show up immediately. You can also call UNCPD or Security and they will escort you anywhere on campus at anytime of the night. We have a large police force as well who are on top of any criminal activity.

    It is smaller than larger schools but that allows for more people to get more involved and for an intimate experience with Greek Life.

    Greeley has started getting more options for things to do like a new hookah bar called Istanbul, two clubs, and a bar scene that is growing. Downtown Greeley has fun restaurants and cute shops along with ice skating. There is also a bird sanctuary and nice park in a nearby neighborhood that provides a great study break on a nice day.

    The dining halls don't have very good hours and not many vegetarian options. But there is a to-go option and three dining hall choices depending on what kind of atmosphere you would like.
    Dorm Life

    The ResLife program here is phenomenal. The Resident Assistants are very helpful and the Diversity Mentors provide great help for anyone! Our buildings are very nice and you can find anything that fits you whether its Suite Life or rooms with a roommate, you can find it!
    Academic Rigor

    Our primary programs like SES, Music, Education, Nursing, Business and Audiology/Speech are very difficult whereas Communications and research based programs aren't as difficult or prevalent here.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you are incoming to UNC I suggest really paying attention during your tour. You will notice distinct differences between West and Central campus. Depending if you want to live with similar people, or near your classes it will depend on which side of campus you are on. Central is more artsy and West is more athletic personalities.

    The University of Northern Colorado is a great school, especially for those interested in Education, the Arts, Business, and Sports/Exercise Science and plenty more. We have a very diverse campus that it extremely inclusive and safe for any ethnicity, orientation, gender, race, and religion. It is also in the up and coming Greeley who has started developing a better community immersed within the beautiful college campus.

    There is the campus police station which is open 24 hours. There are emergency call boxes all over campus. There are security guards patrolling all the time. It's a pretty safe campus.

    In Ross Hall there is a statue of one of President Ross. It's said to be good luck if you rub his head before a test. The oldest tree in weld county is in front of the President's Row. There is a quidditch team and field. UNC is built on the highest hill in Greeley.

    There are always fun events happening on campus. Greeley is not far from Denver and it isn't far from the mountains either. If you want to go shopping there are little boutiques that are walking distance from the campus and 16th Street Mall in Denver isn't far away.
    Food and Dining

    The food is good. It's definitely not home cooking and there aren't very many vegetarian entrees. The dining halls are nice and comfortable. There are to-go options that are quick and convenient.
    Dorm Life

    There are many different styles of dorm living here. The RAs are knowledgeable and helpful. The front desks have cool things. The lounges are awesome and the architecture is beautiful. The rooms aren't cramped.

    The classes are definitely challenging. No one comes to college expecting it to be easy.
    Tips for prospective students

    Go to as many UNC events as possible. This is where you get a feel for the people and the campus. I definitely suggest coming in the spring or the fall when the trees are changing. It's quite breathtaking. Also, talk to you potential advisers.

    The UNC police are actively available around campus. There are several emergency stations around campus that can be used to call for help with the push of a button. The UNC police can also be called on at night to escort students back to their place of residence.

    UNC is a little more on the expensive side, but I believe it's worth the money. Specifically, if you live in the state of Colorado and plan on becoming a teacher, a businessperson, or plan on having a career in Nursing, this is the school for you. If you're coming to UNC from inside or outside of Colorado and plan on majoring in the performing or visual arts, this is the school for you.

    There are activities going on around campus all the time. The University Center almost always has something going on. There is also, the Recreation Center and many other activities on and around campus that are fun to do.

    There are several food and dining options available around campus. As far as dining hall food goes, UNC's dining hall food is great. I love having a meal plan and the convenience of eating on campus. In addition to the dining halls, there are several retail food options around campus that are equally great.

    Dorm life is really fun. There are always things planned around the dorms that anyone can get involved in. The rooms are well taken care of and the staff really cares about the residents.

    Some classes are more difficult than others. There are always going to be professors, regardless of the school, who take their profession more seriously than others. At UNC, the majority of the professors truly care about both their subjects and their students. Classes can be difficult, but as long as motivation is present, no class is too difficult.

    For fun I attend many of the UNC events. They have BINGO night, laser tag, dances and much more. I also hang out with friends and go shopping at the malls or go see a movie or go out to eat. Some nights I just stay in with friends cook and enjoy each others presents.

    I Love UNC's food. They always mix it up. I have tried many new foods their at UNC's dinning halls. During the holiday's they go all out and make Christmas Dinner and Thanksgiving dinner the best for us students.

    I live in Turner hall and I never want to move to a different hall. I have my own room and space. I have created a lot of friendships in my dorm and meet great new people. I like dorm life because it allows me to experience living on my own.

    I get a challenge at UNC. College is differently not easy but I have learned so much from the classes I've taken so far.

    Choose a university that you want to go and that you enjoy or like. Also make sure that it has the major or program you want. Pay attention to the price also.

    The campus itself seems very safe, and compact enough that a person wouldn't feel isolated. Outside of campus is a little scary but within a few miles you will feel safe again. When leaving campus go in a group, be smart.

    This is a nursing college and a teaching college, but it is also becoming a top athletic college.

    If in-state the cost is excellent for the education. The college offered me, as an out-of-state student, some great scholarships to help with the cost. If out of state keep your grades up and do well on ACT/SAT for better scholarship opportunities.

    There are a variety of dorm styles. The dorms are updated, clean and comfortable.

    Once accepted take advantage of the networking opportunities. The collge has been great about keeping me posted on deadlines, networking with other future students and possible roommates.

    Greeley isn't the safest place in the world, but the campus police are really great (they have a response time of under a minute to ANYWHERE on campus) and the campus security are very active.

    The theatre program here is AMAZING.

    In state - totally worth it. Fairly cheap, but really nice programs and a variety of classes. Out of state - if you're coming for a specific major (MT, Acting, Audio/Speech path) that the school specializes in, worth it. Otherwise? Might want to double check your options.
    Food and Dining

    Eh. What can you do? It's cafeteria food. It's really great for the first month or two, but starts to get really tedious. There is a nice variety, and the man who makes the Grilled Cheese at TK dining hall is a master of his craft.
    Dorm Life

    The dorm life at UNC is great! The RAs are all really awesome, and it's a great experience to have. Also, the dorms are really nice :)
    Academic Rigor

    If you try, you probably will succeed. Most of the teachers just want students who will show up to class.

    Make sure you take a campus tour. Think very hard about where you want to live, near west or central campus. If you are pursue a science or art degree, make sure you are on central, because it's a serious walk up the hill to the other side of campus.

    UNC overall is fairly safe. It is a college campus so there is police always on duty.

    Greek Life is something that is very encouraged here. They have a lot of events and encourage people to get involved. There are a lot of frats and sororities that like to tell others what greek life is about.

    There are many clubs and activities to choose from. Depending on what you are interested in. I am involved in flag football which is very fun and can be very competitive.

    Anyone that is seeking to make new friends and get a good education this school is great for you. Central campus is for music and theatre students while west campus is more for biology and nursing students. But it's nice because everyone is welcome everywhere.

    This school is very reasonable. There is a lot to offer even though it is one of the cheapest universities in Colorado. Including free cable, internet, laundry and tutoring.
    What to do for fun

    Playing frisbee when it is nice out is always fun. It really depends on how the weather is. If it is beautiful out then I am outside with the rest of the school playing games. But if it is snowy or rainy I watch a lot of movies or hangout at the recreation center.
    Food and Dining

    Food and dining is my least favorite thing about UNC. The food that is served at the dinning hall is not that great. The university center is where the semi good food is served.
    Dorm Life

    I enjoyed living in the dorms for my first year. I was able to meet some good friends. It encouraged me to get out and involve myself in activities. Most of the dorms are nice and welcoming.
    Academic Rigor

    The difficulty of this school is moderate. There are classes that can be very easy but then very difficult. The biology department I believe is one of the hardest. But if you study and work hard, you will get good grades.

    This school has opportunities for students seeking all majors. I would recommend this school for business and nursing students. Just because they have the best programs for those majors.

    UNC has an excellent recreation center where students can rock climb, swim, play basketball, yoga, zumba, dance classes, cardio workouts, running, baseball, and soccer. UNC also has a great band that allows for students to make friends.

    For a prospective student I would say my greatest advice is to get involved. There are so many activities on campus and so many opportunities to make friends. Also UNC has many academic tutoring services. They will work with you as long as you need it.
