    What to do for fun

Students can enjoy a movie at the local movie theater, they can enjoy the beauty of nature at one of the nearby trails, or participate in community events.

    Food and Dining

There are many different restaurants and fast food chains nearby. One could enjoy a dinner at one of the restaurants or get food on the fly if need be.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms at Salkehatchie, which means you will have to live in the town surrounding the college. If you have family or relatives near by it is not that big of a deal, but for students without the option of staying with relatives, It can be a burden as they will have to rent a house or stay in an apartment.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging but can be easily managed with studying and commitment.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should prepare for challenging classes, but also realize that they are going to have a great experience.

    In three sentences

I like the small campus that Salkehatchie offers. It allows for more individualized attention and helps me to understand the information easier. The smaller class sizes allow ease in asking questions and getting important information.

    Campus Safety

The campus safety at the University of South Carolina -Salkehatchie campus is excellent! The students and staff always look out for each other. The maintenance works also have numbers listed by all doors of the classrooms, that you can call and they will help you or even walk you to your car in a heartbeat! Cops also patrol the campus often.

    Greek Life

There is nothing Greek Life at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie.

    Clubs and Activities

The sports teams at USC Salk are outstanding and a great way to get involved; I never played soccer in my life and I played this past year! I am also a member of SGA, which is the Student Government Association. There are theater clubs, and much more at Salk!

Great for these types of students

USC Salk is awesome for students who want to continue to play sports and work on their skills before going to a four year. It is great for those who are not used to a big school or area. This college is especially great for students with a not so great GPA, because these students learn an abundance of skills here.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

SGA is the Student Government Association, which always creates events for the students to interact as well as give back. Some of these events are Movie Night, or Pink Week for breast cancer awareness. There is also always a welcome back party each semester!

    Bang for the buck

USC Salkehatchie offers a lot of bang for the buck. Here, you receive an education for one of the cheapest amounts in the state. The cost of living in the area isn't high either. The school also offers student worker opportunities.

    What to do for fun

Allendale is such a small place, but the school being small makes all the students know each other. The students go to each other's houses, hangout in the lounge at school to play pool or ping-pong, go to sports events, as well as become a part of SGA. There is also a place called AP's Lobster House located near the school, which offers pool as well as live bands on Friday nights; pretty fun!

    Food and Dining

The school has recently started to flourish , so along with building the dorm, the Dean is looking into a dining hall. The only food options around the area are Hardee's, Subway, Chinese, Latisha's Cafe, O-Taste-and-See, and Mi Ranchito. Mostly, the students cook at home.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms at this college yet. However, the Dean and staff have met with the contractors and already have the blueprints of the dorms completed. They also started clearing the land, so that the dorms will be complete in 2 years.

    Academic Rigor

These courses at Salkehatchie are considerably difficult, but if you go to class everyday, and take notes, study a bit every week, you will be set. The teachers always want to see you succeed and they will help you to do so. All they need to see is you making the effort.

    Tips for prospective students

Most students may go to Salkehatchie thinking it is going to be a piece of cake because it isn't a large college, so really focus on your school work. Also, get to know the staff and teachers as much as possible. They all have big hearts and are eager to go out of their way to help.

    In three sentences

Although the college is not located in an ideal area, University of South Carolina -Salkehatchie is an outstanding school. The teachers really care about your success as a student and as an individual. Their motto is Start here, go anywhere, and it is so true because this school builds on all the skills for the future!

    NONE

Great for these types of students

    - not a lot of money - small town - from walterboro

    Bang for the buck

Good price for beginning your education, but not enough classes for those who want to expand.

    What to do for fun

In the Walterboro campus, there are restaurants to hang out at, a park that you can walk, and a movie theater.

    Food and Dining

Good selection of fast food at the Walterboro campus, and some local restaurants with good food.

    Dorm Life

There isn't a dorm life, because there aren't any dorms!

    Academic Rigor

Some classes really challenge you, and others are very similar to high school.

    Tips for prospective students

Ask as many questions as possible, and ask as many people as possible. Sometimes there are different answers between who you have asked. Also, make sure that you keep yourself up to date on their website.

    In three sentences

A good school to begin your college education. It is good if you do not have a intended major. Problem is when you have an intended major or you are looking for classes that are more than what they offer, slim offering of good interesting classes.
