Go to class and develop a relationship with your professor. It honestly makes classes more interesting, and you are much more involved.

All of the professors I have met have been extremely friendly. Talk to them and get to know them and become active and I am sure you will be offered good oppurtunities in the future.

Join a club or a sports team. Nothing is more boring then sitting in a room by yourself all week. USM offers a lot of clubs and has some great sports teams. They may not be #1 and winning championships everywhere but I can guarantee that you will meet some amazing people doing things like this. Talk to your teachers. They listen to everything really really well. If you need help in a class get a tutor or go to the teachers office hours. USM's tutors are simply amazing. They are students who are really well at the classes you are taking and are there because they want to help.
