Not much to do, honestly. There is a nice gym and the Portland campus is near the Old Port, which offers plenty to do.

Fun; its all about what you put in. Don't come to USM expecting to be flooded with fun (as I hope you wouldn't any school). You need to get out and do stuff yourself. USM doesn't have much for Activities though. That's the one thing I think they are missing. Most of the school is commuters so it's difficult to host events if less than half of the school even lives on campus. Then since no one goes to these events no one wants to go. I will say in the two years I have been here they have been getting much better about hosting fun events that attract a lot of attention. There are normally things to do but you really need to go out and find/do them. Take a trip to Portland, or the mall, and enjoy the city or come back to Gorham and hang out with a group of friends or head to a party. You seriously get back what you put in when it comes to the fun section of USM.

There is a running trail and park at Back Bay Cove on the waterfront. The Old Port section has numerous shops, bars, and restaurants. Portland is home to minor league baseball, hockey, and basketball teams. for active types, there are are numerous running clubs, yoga groups, and cross fit chapter.

Some of the greatest experiences though come from random opportunities that are made available through the college that are unrelated to any clubs.

I am president of the Sports Management Club and there are plenty of other clubs and organizations to join as well. Also a lot of intramural teams and pickup games always going on at the gym.
