The great thing about UVA is that it is a public research university - meaning its resources attract the big names in most fields of study. This is great for you, the student, because you get to learn under such academics as Rita Dove and Larry Sabato. A caveat: UVA has a single sanction Honor Code. If you lie, cheat, or steal, you will be tried by a jury of your peers and if found guilty of a non-trivial offense, you will be expelled. Virginia expects a lot from her students academically, but if you put the time and energy into...

UVa is a wholesome campus, even the weather reflects it! We have strong academics, good programs ranging from art-based to sports-based, a huge student body that you can choose a trusty friend group from, and not to mention beautiful, huge old trees that give wonderful shade in hot months and add beautiful colors to the scenic campus during fall. I rate the University highly, as it seems to hold everything--upbeat and diverse student body, beautiful campus--grounds--with a cool historical flare, and renowned academics that provide you a competitive edge during your future career-search.

University of Virginia is a top-tier university with high quality education and positive, safe, and fun environment. Also, University of Virginia is the only college in the nation that is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Because University of Virginia is at the heart of Charlottesville, there are many interactions between the school and the local Charlottesville community that have been proven to be beneficial for both groups.

UVa is a beautiful campus in a great location. The college has great opportunities for research and going beyond academics. The only downfall is the number of people - there are a lot!

UVa is what you're looking for, if you are willing to navigate hundreds of thousands of people and programs and opportunities. It is a fulfilling liberal arts experience, but you'll need to be diligent to keep your head above water. It has a stigma for being privileged, upperclass, and caucasian; but this gives the opportunity to try swimming against the stream, standing out as an individual, defying the mainstream, and connecting with/giving back to the amazing community of Charlottesville-dwellers, despite the stigma.

Anyone can find people who share similar interests. A wide variety of sports perform well and draw good crowds. Upper class housing is tough to figure out.

It is extremely challenging and rewarding. There is a lot to do outside of your school work. My rating for UVA has to be that it is by far the best school in the nation for both working hard and partying hard.
