With the ~$4000 (in-state tuition) you get unlimited public transport around the city, you obviously get college credit, and you get a gym membership (the IMA is probably the best gym in the state).
The school also offers this thing called Husky Ride where every 20 minutes from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. a UW van drives around campus and will pick up students to drop them off in front of their front door (as long as you live within a mile of campus). Even if you live a little farther, they'll still take you as close as they can typically. This is ideal not only for safety, but for the avoiding the cold.
There's free counseling services on campus as well if you ever feel really bogged down by life, the impenetrable clouds in the city, or a bad breakup.
Over all, it's cheaper than a lot of schools and UW offers a lot of resources to take care of their students. You just have to educate yourself about these resources and take advantage of them.
