Great for these types of students

    ...Everyone finds their niche here.

    Tips for prospective students

Buy the football game ticket package; Bring a lot of red to school with you; Step out of the high-school circle you might be bringing to college with you.

    Bang for the buck

I'm not sure what 'bang for the buck' really means. I guess that means is the tuition worth it. I would say of course. The time I have put into studying is crazy but I know it will pay off. This school is one of the top-rated public university's and it ranks #1 in Brand Value. And when I graduate from here, the only thing it will say on my diploma is UW-Madison, and that name is going to take me very far.

    Am enjoying being here

Many have told me they could never come to this campus because it is so big, I can't help but laugh and think how small it seems to me. I met the craziest yet somehow the most studious friends my freshman year at the dorms. We walk down by the Monona Terrace and the water is still and the lake is at ease and that small town vibe is all around you. But then come saturday the town is rocking inside Camp Randall and although you might not know the person next to you--it really doesn't matter because the school spirit is so great. When the football games are away, you can bet that I absolutely love rollerblading to State Street on saturday. I grab a bite to eat, listen to a fiddler on the sidewalk and watch a man use spray paint to create art on a piece of paper and sell it for much less than it looks worth.

    Am learning a lot

Of course I am learning a lot, this school throws you enough required classes you have to take before getting into your major, so it is impossible to take any class and not learn a thing. What is different here, is that I don't just learn from professors but from my classmates who I study with or the discussion section that meets once a week for the class. You do not solely learn from classes but also from the environment surrounding you. You learn how to cross a street properly and not get run over; You learn to use the bus system efficiently and not get stranded a mile off of campus at 2am; You will have numerous heated political debates with friends (in wake of recent protests) that spark learning and thinking. You will learn the best study habits (looking out over the lake)--and the worst study habits(a redbull energy drink at midnight). You will learn to study your butt off while trying to plan three days worth of halloween costumes. You will how to Jump Around at football games without falling over. I've learned all these things and indeed, learning can be fun.

Great for these types of students

UW-Waukesha is great campus for anyone! Students who don't know what major they want to go into yet, students who do know but want to save some money, students who really don't know if college is quite for them. I really love this campus and I truly know that it has helped me grow as a person.

    Tips for prospective students

I would tell new students to really open up and try getting involved in activities. The more activities you become involved in the more people you meet and more opportunities will arise, such as an officer position or a job on campus. Even if you only get involved in one club, have fun with it. UW-Waukesha has a very supportive student body and faculty staff that will do nothing but encourage you to have the time of your life.

    Bang for the buck

At UW-Waukesha there are many scholarship opportunities if you have trouble affording the already reasonably low priced tuition. The only gripe I might have is the high text book costs, but no matter what college you go to the texts books will be expensive.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the friendly enviornment UW-Waukesha has to offer. All of the staff is extremely helpful and encouraging. The people are very nice and it is really an opportunity to grow as an individual and as a team player. I was never involved in high school, but I jumped right into two clubs my first year at Waukesha, I was even an officer my first semester!

    Am learning a lot

I attend UW-Waukesha and the professors there have really opened my mind to the variety of ways one can study a topic. Also, the class sizes are small so if you have any questions you feel comfortable asking. Thirdly, there are many free tutoring options available to really help you learn and better understand the material.

Great for these types of students

If you enjoy more of a connection with professors and prefer the smaller class size so its a more personal experience.

    Tips for prospective students

Attend the lectures, many professors include things on quizzes/exams that you will only learn from being in class.

    Bang for the buck

Just because the school is cheaper doesn't mean it's a bad thing! I earned my Associates degree in two years for about the same cost as one year at a larger university.

    Did enjoy being here

I loved being at URock, there were always fun things going on around campus through out the year with numerous events. All of the professors are incredibly nice and helpful. It was very easy to make friends and it was kind of like high school all over just minus the drama!

    Did learn a lot

I learned so much when I attended UW-Rock County. Due to being a smaller campus the classes were a lot smaller, my largest lecture had 60 people. It was very easy to communicate with professors and they took the time to get to know you which helped in the learning process.

    Campus Safety

The campus is patrolled by it's own police department and the Capital police department, the city of Madison Police department and the county police Sheriff department. There is fire stations very close by that responds in minutes.

    Greek Life

I do not know alot about this but Greek does exist and is prevalent.

    Clubs and Activities

Pretty much what ever your heart desires and more are being added each year.

Great for these types of students

It doesn't matter what your area of study is this college can provide the education you seek at a very high quality of education.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

This university is rich in tradition, examples would be the food tray sledding day down the hills on campus, an all out college snowball fight and sitting or standing with the statue of Abraham Lincoln while wearing your graduation gowns. I could write a book about all the different traditions on campus.

    Bang for the buck

I can not express how impressed I am with the college and my experience there and the amount of help available to help you succeed in your education.

    What to do for fun

There is a full array of activities at the campus, bike trails and the campus is right on Lake Mendota. Additionally the campus is located with in the city and close to all kinds of entertainment.

    Food and Dining

There is a wide variety of foods available and the best Ice cream that is made right on campus.

    Dorm Life

am rating 5 stars based on what I here from fellow students and the fact that the college is building brand new state of the art dorms. Otherwise I am a returning adult student and live off campus.

    Academic Rigor

I am rating the academic rigor as 4 stars only because you can take easier classes but they will still be challenging. However if you want to challenge yourself and take advantage of what is available it can be a 5 star but it is up to the individual student.

    Tips for prospective students

The best tip I can give is start early researching the college and explore what interest you by meeting with the Professors in those area. Also use the resources on campus that are to aid your success while there, there are many ways to get help in all areas from educational, to personal and health.

    In three sentences

I rate University of Wisconsin-Madison as exceptional and in the top colleges of the United States and possibly in the World. If it is prestige and education at reasonable price this is the college to attend.

    Campus Safety

U of Wisconsin offers many resources to stay safe on campus. There are free bus systems that run into the night, volunteer students who work to escort you home at night, cab services, and both campus and city police. Very important to be aware of your surroundings as it is a city.

    Greek Life

Great balance between the amazing crazy fun traditions of Greek Life without the very intense atmosphere of a southern school.

    Clubs and Activities

Hoofers: outdoor fun of all kinds, every season

Great for these types of students

Motivated Love to Meet people from all over the world Independent School Spirited Love to have fun!

Bascom HIll- students lay outside and do homework on Bascom Hill whenever it is nice out. Camp Randall- the best football games you will ever go to. Historical Society- the most beautiful place to study. Stain glass ceilings and leather chairs are so amazing! College Library-a very social library where you get to know so many people on campus. State Street- Closed off to all traffic, state street has over a hundred shops, restaurants, and apartments all leading up to capital square with the beautiful capital building. On saturday mornings the farmer's market attracts hundreds of people.

    Bang for the buck

All your school tuition fees are one hundred percent worth it for the quality of education I feel I am getting at Wisconsin. However, the price of living is a little higher than other schools.

    What to do for fun

Take advantage of all the lake activities! Learn to sail, rent a canoe, go to concerts on the terrace, hike out to picnic point, and go swimming. There are some great concerts at the Majestic and the Orpheum almost every weekend. Try going greek! There are so many fun opportunities if you are involved in a sorority or fraternity. Wisconsin has a great greek community. Work out at the SERF. Wisconsin's athletic facility is one of the nicest I have ever been in and it is free to students!

    Food and Dining

    Much much better than expected.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are so much fun, I made some of my greatest friends from a random placement on the same dorm floor. The more social you are right away in the year the better your year will be.

    Academic Rigor

It is manageable if you don't slip behind!

    Tips for prospective students

Don't waste any time, get involved with as much as possible right away! It is the best way to get familiar with a new campus and meet tons of new friends. Take the time to go through every syllabus and map out your semester at the very beginning. You will know what to expect every week. Attend the forums and events held for students curious about different aspects of the rest of their time in school (i.e. studying abroad). Go out and enjoy everything Madison has to offer. The school is known for its social life for a reason!

    In three sentences

Attending University of Wisconsin has been a challenge I have loved rising to meet. It's large and diverse student body has opened the doors to so many new opportunities that I believe I have taken full advantage of. I have never lived in such a beautiful place and loved going to school as much as I do at University of Wisconsin.

    What to do for fun

    Join clubs and organizations

    Food and Dining

There are lots of yummy places to eat in Madison. Although I have not tried many of the dining halls on campus I love to eat on State Street from time to time at places like State Street Brats and Five Guys.

    Dorm Life

I live in an apartment and plan to live in one throughout the rest of my time here. I do hear that new students have fun and enjoy living in dorms their first or second year. This gives them a chance to make new friends in a new place!

    Academic Rigor

Coming from a community college the classes here are a little tougher. It all depends on what the class size is and if there is a discussion section for the course. This makes communicating with your professor a little easier.

    Tips for prospective students

Talk to your adviser often, they know what they're doing!

    In three sentences

This is a great University to attend with many different programs to choose from!

    Campus Safety

The campus is fairly safe. I have never felt not safe on campus.

    Greek Life

We don't really have any fraternities or sororities.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a wide variety of clubs to choose from at UWWC. UWWC also has competitive and intramural sports teams.

Great for these types of students

UWWC is great for students who want to save money. It is also great for non-traditional age students, and students who can only go to school part-time.

    Bang for the buck

The low cost is probably the best factor of the whole campus. The tuition per year is $5,500. UWWC has the lowest tuition in the entire UW System. It is a very manageable amount; I paid for my first year of school out of pocket. Even though UWWC is inexpensive, it is still a quality school. The teachers are great, and you learn a lot! Plus, there are great scholarships available.

    What to do for fun

I have to be honest: West Bend is not always the most exciting place. However, UWWC does have a variety of clubs and intramural sports. There are also competitive sports teams at the school too. It's easy to get to Milwaukee from West Bend (just get on the highway), and there's lots of fun things to do in the Mil.

    Food and Dining

The food here is quite good! It's also very affordable. You can get a nice lunch for $5. It is all made-to-order, instead of a buffet style. The cafe serves breakfast and lunch. Many of the options are very healthy. My only gripe is that I wish the cafeteria would stay open longer.

    Academic Rigor

I am at UWWC. A lot of people say that only stupid people go here, but that is completely not true. The vast majority of students at UWWC are very smart. The classes are all challenging. The course work can be hard sometimes, but it will help you to learn. Most of the electives classes are interesting. The teachers actually care, and want to help you learn. You do have to go to class though; many classes have mandatory attendance policies.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't think that UWWC is a slacker school. It's not. You will find really great professors, who are smart and care about what they do. You will find challenging academics that will help you learn. You will find a really welcoming school. The biggest thing is that UWWC is very inexpensive, but still gives you a great education.

    In three sentences

UWWC is a great school that is affordable and close to home. The teachers are great, and the course work will challenge you. UWWC will give you a great start.

    Campus Safety

The campus is pretty safe; the only crime is usually a small car theft in the far lot, but it is a small, safe campus for the most part.

    Greek Life

There are no traditional Sororities or Fraturnities, but there is an Honor's Fraturnity that does volunteer work that I enjoyed being a part of.

    Clubs and Activities

Keep in mind, it is a two year college, so there is not going to be EVERYTHING you could imagine as far as clubs go, but it is relatively easy to start a club about something you are passionate about if there is not already one in place.

Great for these types of students

Having trouble affording college? Need to fit college in before, after or between jobs? This campus is great in afforability and accessability. You don't have to arrive 30 minutes early just to get to class on time; there are only three buildings.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are a lot of activities in the Hub at lunch hour that are sponsored by various clubs. Comedians, singers, performers, and games are a regular scene at lunchtime.

    Bang for the buck

Absolutely the BEST thing about this college. You are getting experienced professors, small class sizes, and all the attention you want or need for half the price of a four year university!

    What to do for fun

UW Waukesha has all sorts of after school activities, clubs, and sports. It is a great opportunity for maybe not Division I athletes to get some playing time and if you have an interest, there is probably a club about it!

    Food and Dining

UW Waukesha is located right near the highway and downtown; plenty of things to do in the area if you have a few hours between classes.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms on my campus, but I've heard there are on other Wisconsin College campuses. There are some great deals on apartments in the area, though!

    Academic Rigor

It is a great school because you can choose how difficult you want your classes to be. If you are just trying to get your gen eds out of the way, you are able to do that. But if you are looking to run full speed ahead into your academics: taking classes for honors will help you learn more and you get to work one on one with the professors!

    Tips for prospective students

Don't look past these colleges because they are two year junior colleges or community colleges. I was a very hard working honor's student all through high school and attending UW Waukesha allowed me to keep my focus on my schoolwork. The credits transfer to 4 year universities, there is a great variety of classes and teachers, and great opportunities to excel!

    In three sentences

Small class sizes, experienced teachers, and low tuition make these colleges extremely attractive to any college student. Most of the professors I've had have taught at big name universities and settled in Wisconsin to retire. I've had a great experience with Wisconsin colleges and would recommend them to anyone!

Walk around to different stores on the main street. There is a Farmers' market every weekend. The Student Unions also have many awesome events everyday. There is always something to do, grabbing a lot of friends and going to a new place every week is the best way to stay grounded and can be an appropriate break from studies.

    Food and Dining

The restaurants, food carts, dorm cafeterias, and building food are all high quality and delicious.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are a great first year experience, you can make good friends during the first year of school. After the first year, many students go on to live in apartments because it feels as if dorms have prepared us/pushed us to explore more campus options for more independence.

    Academic Rigor

The challenge is very appropriate in all the the classes and majors. The key is to not feel overwhelmed and to study hard.

    Tips for prospective students

There are many things to see and do in Madison, so it is essential to go out and explore all of its character and people. Being around very focused people is the best way to learn, you can find the best study environments in all buildings. Partying may be around the campus, but keeping in mind that you are at one of the best Universities in the U.S. keeps you centered and ready to stay focused.

    In three sentences

Madison, Wisconsin is a great place to go to school because it is a big college town. The campus is not as big at it seems, and the location is perfect. The education is the best in all the Midwest and I feel very lucky to be here.

The best location, though not necessarily unusual, place on campus is picnic point. It is located on a peninsula in the middle of lake mendota, and gives you an amazing view of the campus!

    Bang for the buck

This campus will fill your life with so much that you have never expected! Also, it is a big ten school, and it's very low in cost for a big ten school! you get much more than your money's worth!

    What to do for fun

There is so much to do for fun here, you can go to picnic point (I recommend it!) Also, you can visit state street or watch any of the free movies that are run weekly!

    Food and Dining

The food here is what you can expect from a typical cafeteria-esque idea, but when you're eating with friends, it's not nearly as bad as one can make it out to be!

    Dorm Life

Living in the dorms are wonderful! There are so many people you can meet, and you can make friends that you will keep for a life time. Living in dorm life is what you make of it, if you are willing to get out there and make a fool of yourself, you'll have a great time! That, however, does not mean make stupid decisions!

    Academic Rigor

Academics are tough, but they are manageable as long as you put a fair amount of work into it!

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to study, but make sure to take time for yourself as well. Keep on your studies though, do not allow yourself to get behind!

    In three sentences

There are literally a million things to do here every singe weekend..and even week nights. The unions offer lots of options along with Memorial Terrace, state street, and social life on and off campus.

    Food and Dining

great food! As many fresh & local options offered as they can. Babcock ice cream served in the dining halls and plenty of options each meal.

    Academic Rigor

    Tips for prospective students

This is my 3rd college and I can say so far the most difficult and challenging! The fully online aspect does make it slightly more difficult.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to do a lot of reading. I recommend putting all of your assignment due dates on a calendar you check daily as this will ease the process since the online set up is a little disorganized at grouping everything together.

    In three sentences

A lot of clubs do events often. ACT does normally at least one event a month, so student life is quite active. Weight room is FREE. Some clubs show movies for FREE. Did I mention the events are almost always FREE?

    Food and Dining

The food in The Hub can get really expensive. I choose to almost always bring food from home.

    Dorm Life

    There are no dorms.

    Academic Rigor

Some classes are hard, some are super easy. More often than not, they're easy because the classes don't really go higher than the 200 level since it's really only a 2 year school

    Tips for prospective students

It is a small campus, so if you're looking for a small 2 year school, UW Waukesha is pretty good. It's a good school if you are planning on transferring within the UW System. The classes are smaller than the 4 year schools, so your chance of being able to talk to the professor is higher. Take the classes that would normally be large or hard to get into at the school that you plan to transfer to.

    In three sentences

Overall, it's a nice school. There's some classes that I needed that were not offered at UW Waukesha, but I was planning on transferring after my 2 years anyway. It's a perfect place to transfer from because it's affordable and flexible.

    What to do for fun

The school not only hosts some kind of entertainment (comedian, magician, game show, mind reader, etc.) every day, but is located near a mall, bowling alley, park, or movie theater to name a few.

    Food and Dining

There are many fast food and sit down options located within five minutes of campus. If you feel like eating on campus that's an option as well. The school has a cafeteria that is open from breakfast until 2pm every school day. The food is a bit on the expensive side for how it tastes, but it is an option. They also have several vending machines and coffee machines as well.

    Dorm Life

There is no dorm life available! If you are looking for housing you will have to rent a nearby apartment.

    Academic Rigor

Don't let the idea of a junior college as people call it get you lazy. The teachers here make sure they are pushing you in all your classes. In fact, many of the classes here would be worth more credits at a 4 year college because of their difficulty. This school will prepare you to move on to another school.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be afraid to get to know your professors here because the class sizes are generally small and they WILL remember you by name. Ask for help any time you need it the professors follow an open door policy. Study hard; just because it's a two-year campus does not mean your work load isn't tough! Attend on-campus events if you're trying to meet other students because many are too nervous to introduce themselves in class.

    In three sentences

Great for first year students overwhelmed by college life or those on a tight budget. Will not satisfy those looking for a party-filled college experience or hoping to make lots of friends. Very diverse campus with great education.

    Academic Rigor

This is basically where you will get your gen-eds done. Therefore, the classes are (usually) not difficult, but you will still need to show up and do homework to pass.

    Tips for prospective students

Get to know your classmates and professors. In such a small town, chances for opportunity are slim and you will need their guidance at some point. Also, the professors are just fun, interesting people.

    In three sentences

UW Marinette is a small and intimate school with very knowledgeable faculty. Don't let the community college cliche fool you: you will need to work and get to know students and professors. i think for the college that i go to, i think that they need better safety. i think they should get campus patrol. they also need cameras in the school parking lot. so if something happened to someone they can go and look on the cameras. other than that they are good on helping students who are getting bullied or students who felt unsafe about something. if you go out some where on campus always make sure that you are with someone or someone is around.

i can honestly say that i do not live in the dorms i drive everyday from Wonewoc to Richland center. i chose this because i know that i will get all of my work done and i would not get distracted by the noise in the hall ways at night when i am trying to do my homework. you see my friend that went to high school with me stays in the dorms and she says that she does not get a lot of sleep in the dorms because of the noise. from my experience of just staying there for a few hours i do not understand how anyone can get anything done. that is why i am glad that i stay at home. because i know i can study and do all of my homework in peace and quite.

    What to do for fun

UW Rock County offers many programs throughout the semester that are usually open to the public, and free to students. This includes classic movies, guest performances, student performances, and more. They're very entertaining, and a great way to learn about the community, and other miscellaneous things.

    Dorm Life

UW Rock County doesn't have on-campus living.

    Academic Rigor

Some professors will be harder on grading than others, and some classes will be more boring, but that's going to happen in any school. The best thing to do is to test drive classes. If you're taking a class that isn't required for your degree and you don't like the professor's teaching style, or just the class in general, you have the ability to drop any class all the way up to midterms. So, if your unsure about the class, you have time to decide. Now, if you're taking a class that is required for your degree, and you don't like it, than the best thing to do is just to vent to your friends about it. Chances are, they've had to go through something similar (if not the same thing).

    Tips for prospective students

The most important thing that students need to remember is to relax, and talk to your professors. Most of the time, if you talk to your professors about any trouble your having in class, they are more than happy to work with you. Yes, college is stressful, but if you take the time to explain your difficulties, it becomes a lot easier.

    In three sentences

UW Rock County is very supportive, and a great college to start out with. The LSC/Trio is the place to go when are looking for a tutor, need to study, or just to ask questions about classes. I would recommend UW Rock County as a starting school for anyone who is planning to go to college.

UW Marshfield has different clubs and organizations from SOAP(students opposing acts of prejudice), to Inter-varsity Christian Fellowship. There are also athletic programs like basketball and volleyball. There is a theater that regularly put on plays and a band that performs as well.

There is homemade food offered in the cafeteria, and a McDonald's, Culvers, Burger King, and other restaurants close by.

    Dorm Life

UW Marshfield Wood County is a community college so there are no dorms.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging, but not overly so. There are many different classes offered to meet different interests and majors.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are going for a bachelor's or master's degree, a two year college is a great place to start and save money. When picking out classes, make sure the credits will transfer to the school you are planning on transferring to.

    In three sentences

I am attending a UW 2 year college and think it is a great starting place for college students. Being a community college, it is a great place for students to save money and get started on a degree. All of the staff are superb at their jobs, and a lot of great and interesting classes are offered.

    Campus Safety

There are times when the campus can feel a little scary. There are a few places people should avoid. But they have the poles with the police buttons on them, and Campus PD is always circling.

    Greek Life

Greek Life is good. Even if you don't think you're into that type of thing, I recommend rushing the first week before freshman year. It's a great way to get to know people. The Greek Life on campus is pretty strong, so I'd say its a good idea to join.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many to choose from!! It's great!

Great for these types of students

Social Students Students wanting to be more social Musical Students People who value education and fun at the same time

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Bascom Hill. Run, walk or jump, you HAVE to go up this hill. It's a running joke that the Badgers keep off the freshman fifteen because they're forced to go up this hill everyday. It's in the center of campus, and it's notorious for being in the path of freshman.

    Bang for the buck

It's a good school and it's worth the cost. Getting a job is important on campus.

    What to do for fun

Go for morning runs! I cannot stress enough how important it is to stay active while on campus. I personally recommend morning runs because you're able to meet people without feeling awkward or uncomfortable. Go to the Greek parties! While I understand that sorority and fraternity parties aren't appealing to everyone, they're always fun to go to. Study groups! Say yes to study groups--always! You may not get done nearly the amount of work you'd anticipated or wanted to, however, it's a great way to socialize and still feel like you're being a good student.

    Food and Dining

The food isn't always great, but it's not bad either. The university could afford a few more healthy and alternative options, but for the most part, the food is pretty good.

    Dorm Life

Personally, I am a HUGE fan of the dorms. Every dorm has their own secrets and little rituals/superstitions. The second you walk in, you feel as if you're being let into a secret clubhouse.

    Academic Rigor

Like many state schools, the education is what you make it. The classes can be challenging at times, but it all tends to even out.

    Tips for prospective students

Meet with the professors! They're really easy to talk to, and they love talking to perspective students. If you have questions, ask! People are typically indecisive when they don't have enough information.

    In three sentences

It's a gorgeous campus with a committed, dedicated and passionate faculty. The little quirks about this school are so much fun to discover, and it's easy to feel at home here. You don't feel overwhelmed here, you can easy feel like you'll fit right in while still knowing that you're valued and important.

There is very little crime on campus. In the two years I've been here I can only remember one time I heard about crime on campus.

Great for these types of students

This is a great place for non-traditional students who wish to continue their education as well as students that want a good education in a place that keeps distractions low.

    Bang for the buck

This is one of the cheapest schools in the UW system, but the level of professors and the dedication of the professors hasn't been beat by any other place I've experienced.

    What to do for fun

Although the school and the town are fun, there is fun to be had if you know where to look. There is a good music scene for the size of the town and there are a lot of cool restaurants and places to hang out.

    Food and Dining

The food is a great deal. For the size of the school, the amount of food options is impressive. The prices are very reasonably and the staff comes up with many different options on a daily basis to go along with the standard salad and deli bar.

    Dorm Life

I don't personally live in the dorms, but I know many people who do. The dorm building itself is old and the internet is not the greatest, but from what I've experienced it is clean and there is not much drama that goes on in there. The rooms seem large enough and are not over-crowded.

    Academic Rigor

I was surprised at the level of work that is expected here. I have attended another 2-year institution and the level that this school expects out of it's students as well as it's faculty is on another level. It makes some classes tough and might even effect the GPA sometimes, but I am confident that I will be better prepared for transferring as well as for my future employment.

    Tips for prospective students

I have found that being successful here is much easier if you create and develop good working relationships with your professors. They are all very approachable and very knowledgeable. I still use professors from previous semesters as resources as I continue my education.

    In three sentences

I was shocked and impressed at the level of ability the faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County Campus had. Being interested in engineering, math, and the scientists it was really encouraging and confidence inspiring to have all of my instructors be young and approachable but all be very capable and knowledgeable, with PHDs and numerous other graduate degrees. For being so young, many of my professors have many fun, exciting, and impressive stories and experiences, whether it be working for NASA or developing products that improved current technology in numerous fields.

    Campus Safety

The only real safe thing on campus is a metal detector that blocks the doors in the library and I think that's just there for theft prevention purposes. One day a person had a emotional issue a couple doors down from me and ran through the halls screaming that the top of her lungs. A lot of us thought someone had brought a gun in the school or something but in the end it just turned out to be personal drama. This all happened within ten or so minutes before class was going to be let out and by the time it was time to get to the next class the police had arrived and roped off half the hallway where she had ran through before getting outside. So in ten minutes the area had been scrutinized by authorities, the girl had been found, and the drama had pretty much ended.

    Greek Life

Computer center and library has reasonable hours and there's always someone there to help with any technical errors

    Clubs and Activities

They offer a lot of different clubs that are fairly easy to start, but they also cut a lot of these clubs when people don't show enough interest. I wanted to join the Bigfoot Hunting Club, but by the time I got on campus it had already been cut. There's tons of clubs but be warned that they are persistently advertising them

Great for these types of students

This campus is great for the students who are more outgoing, but for people like me who are just trying to get the basics done and over with, it isn't that great. Everyone's busy and I know that, but the clubs are pressured way to much at that school. The best type of people that would fit in here would be those who like to get involved because they pressure it way too much in my humble opinion.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Can't think of any off the top of my head

    Bang for the buck

I hold every penny near and dear to my heart so paying roughly $2,500 in tuition and fees is annoying yet fairly cheap considering other colleges. It's a little annoying how you have to pay another $100 enrollment fee each semester and even more bothersome when they take more money out for other expenses. Then you of course have to find a way to come up with textbook money. Luckily the bookstore on campus will match the price of the book if you find it online cheaper and give an additional 10% off which is always nice.

    What to do for fun

The college occasionally offers discounted trips or fun nights with free food but I haven't participated in anything like that yet.

    Food and Dining

I have never eaten in the campus cafeteria and have no idea what there prices would be.

    Dorm Life

UW-Waukesha does not offer dorm accommodations. This didn't bother me much since I wanted to be with my black lab no matter what and am forced to rent off campus because of this.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging in their own unique ways however can be very disorganized. One class in particular started with 28 students and is finishing with 6 due to disorganization issues with the school's bookstore and professor. Homework is fairly straight forward and keeps you busy.

    Tips for prospective students

This campus is a lot like High School so be prepared for that. Not what I expected when I moved to the big city to go to college. Tuition is a little cheaper than a four year which is good but the freedom is extremely different in a two year campus than a four year.

    In three sentences

Small class sizes with a friendly atmosphere. A little too much like High School for my likings, but it's still a fairly decent campus. Lots of clubs and different activities that can become rather annoying after a while but they don't pressure them too much so it's generally ok.

Students who know or are unsure of their major, and it's a good place for students who want an easy transition into college or want to stay closer to home.

    Bang for the buck

Depends on how well you thought threw you college plan. If your going into a specific program don't start here and transfer, you will get behind on classes and it may just cost you extra money in the end. But if you are unsure of a major or know you major this is a good place to start and then transfer into a four year university. Tips for prospective students

More one-on-one time with professors than at a larger university. UW-Rock allows for and easy transition from a high school setting to a college setting. Easy to meet new people from the surrounding cities and make friends.

    In three sentences

UW Rock County. Calls for an easy transition from high school to college. Great school to start out at if you are unsure of you major at first, but not recommended if you are going into a set program at a transfer school, like UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, etc.
