Rowing, scuba-diving, swimming, ice-fishing, hiking, [homemade] sword fighting, playing (or listening to) music, etc. Also party and drinking or chilling with friends.

Sporting events, from Hockey to Football to Basketball to Volleyball, you can't go wrong. Other than that, there are fun people who like to party, and in the older dorms, Sellery or Witte, people are so close they are almost forced to party and hang out together.

Spend time at either lake, Mendota or Monona very beautiful atmosphere. Spend sometime at the Rathskeller and the student union. Attend a sporting event, football, basketball, or hockey, my preference is going to a hockey game, even if you are not into sports you should still go. Eating at any of the many places on State Street.

Bars are pretty big in Madison. There are pre-bars and there are a-bars. If you can't get into bars during that middle period there is always a party somewhere. I promise. Tailgates, frats and parties by Camp Randall are HUGE on football gamedays. Best time of the year by far. Gamedays are unlike any other. Tons of places to see concerts nearby. Madison is a hub for good music so go check out your favorite artist with friends.

When it's not basketball or football season, the arboretum is a short bus ride away and if you're looking to release your inner child the Madison Children's Museum is close too.

sled, skate, swim, boating, run, bike, join clubs, swing dance, meditation, politics, write for one of the papers, tryout for a play, the band (that's my biggest enjoyment), movies, attend school events and athletics, explore the downtown area, the gardens, the planetarium...there's so much to do, if you don't find something you like, it's YOUR fault. There's a club for EVERYTHING! You don't need to drink or use drugs to have a great time. Despite what you hear, most of us don't.

So many options for things to do, either through the school or just on campus. Madison itself has awesome things to offer in their downtown or various other parts of the cities.
