Categories Comments Great for these types of students All kinds. Best majors would Fine Arts or Biology
Tips for prospective students Start applying early for grants and scholarships and also acceptance. Always ask questions when you have the resources to.
Bang for the buck UWSP has lots of free events you can attend with you point card. There's also rental books rather than buying your books. A BIG PLUS! Everything else is fair price.
Am enjoying being here The people on campus are very friendly and welcoming. There's lots of things you can do that are on campus. When you do have questions, so many people are willing to help you. The Financial Aid and Bursar's office are so helpful when you have a problem.
Am learning a lot The professors here, really want to help you. They know how to teach in a fun way.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The numerous majors that are offered are great for anyone who is ambitious, creative, aspiring, hard-working, involved, responsible, and open-minded.
Tips for prospective students Try to always get involved in the hall, may it be through programs set up by government or by decorating the hall wings with decorations to show some spirit. Take advantage of all the study areas available to students and the computer lab access in the dorm halls, all which have helped me tremendously since the academic school year began.
Bang for the buck Point Cash and Food Dollars allow you to make purchases all over the campus for the things you need.
Am enjoying being here In my few weeks living in the residence halls I have gathered many memorable experiences. I was fortunate enough to become involved in the Freshman Interest Group, FIG, for my first year. This was a huge positive for me because I came from out of state and FIG allowed me to meet new people that would be living in the same hall as I would be. Our FIG had numerous students that shared the same major, so we all had similar schedules. This was great because I quickly developed friendships and it allowed me to study with peers from my core classes such as Chemistry and Biology. There has yet to be any negatives while living in the residence halls because all the staff and CAs are professional and friendly.
Am learning a lot The classes are great for any kind of student whether you enjoy large lecture halls, or small sized classes. Every professor takes the time to get to know you on a professional manner and the school environment is safe and friendly.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Stevens Point is great for small town students, outdoors students, wellness students, but also for artsy students, and computer savvy students.
Tips for prospective students I am going into my second semester here, and I have 30 credits. Take as many college credits as you can in high school! This will not only knock off time, but also they higher the credits the sooner you get to sign up for classes (giving you the better teachers)! Also, visit as many schools as you can, not only on a campus tour, but stay with some friends you know there to get the feel for it.
Bang for the buck It's cheaper than other Universities like say UW-EC, and we are very well known for certain majors (wildlife, athletic training, etc.) so I would definitely check to see if we have your major.
Am enjoying being here I am from a small town. I like that I can pretty much see the same people every day, but there are plenty of new people to meet on the campus!
Am learning a lot The classes are small enough so you can get to know your teachers and ask for help on a one on one basis.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Outgoing, Naturalistic, athletic, Studious, Fun loving. basically everyone can find something that they will fall in love with on this campus.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to get involved, there will be something that you find works for you. Talk to other people in your dorm, or in the seat next to you, you never know, they may turn out to become your best friend.
Bang for the buck This is the best University in the State for Arts, as well as the best in the Midwest for all Natural Resources programs. It is also the origin of the NWI, or the National Wellness Institute.
Am enjoying being here I have never felt more at home than on this campus, there's always something going on, despite Stevens Point being a smaller town. Everyone welcomes you as if they've known you always.
Am learning a lot This University allows you to learn in more than just the classroom, there are hundreds of ways to get involved on campus, and everyone is incredibly friendly. This is my third year at this University, and I feel more at home here than in the town I grew up in. You will definitely be welcomed.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This is a good university for people who want a small, outdoorsy, relaxing, green, eco-friendly, and fun place to learn.
Tips for prospective students I would say get to know your professors. This is a small university, so you can get to know your professors if you really wanted to. Also, take the time to look around you and notice the beauty of the outdoors.
Bang for the buck This Universtiy is average to low priced. It will be worth the money in the end.
Am enjoying being here I love being here and living on my own. I love the small city and the atmosphere. Everyone here is very nice and helpful. I love having a nature preserve very close by, to take a run or walk.
Am learning a lot I am a first semester sophomore and I have learned a lot in the past year and a half. Being in a University allows me to learn a lot more in all areas and subjects. I am learning new information and I see how each subject intertwines with each other. I am not only learning in the classroom, but I am also learning how to live on my own, how to be more independent, and money mangement.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students UWSP is great for all types of students, whether you are the artsy, theater type who lives a charismatic life or the outdoorsy person who wants to hunt and fish, there's something here for everyone. There are hundreds of clubs and student organizations that you will hear about in the first weeks of classes and throughout your adventures in college but it is up to you to try a few and see what you like, it might take a while, but if you look there is always something new and exciting to take part in.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you apply for scholarships the summer before freshman year! Look into your major for the school you want and see if there are incoming freshman scholarships. Pack light, you don't need your whole wardrobe if you're moving into the dorms, just bring basics, you can always get the rest later or at Christmas. Just remember the first few weeks will be hardest away from friends and loved ones, even if you don't think so, it will so be prepared for home-sickness and maybe bring something with you that will be a piece of home in your room. Don't forget to bring an open mind and also keep your door open! Also if you're interested in clubs, don't be afraid to get involved! It's very easy to get started in a club at any point in the semester; I joined Taekwondo Club freshman year, and have been teaching ever since! It's a great opportunity to meet hundreds of people and teach everyday, plus if you take on leadership roles you get very good at public speaking, especially if you're like me and teach to hundreds of students a day! Good luck with your college plans and I hope to see you at UWSP soon!
Bang for the buck UW Stevens Point is great for its relative inexpensive tuition. Obviously its a four year college, so you do need to live on campus the first two years, but it is really fun when you take time to get to know people. Also, the tuition includes bus fares so you can ride the city buss for free just showing your student ID and its easy access to Walmart, Michaels, Game Stop, Best Buy, Target anywhere really! Plus, you get a Point Card, which has your meal plans on it, and Dawg/Food Dollars (for the C-Store on campus) and you can put Point Cash on it so you can eat at places like KFC, Taco Bell, Perkins and many others (not just food places) just with a swipe of your card. Plus, you use your Point Card to rent textbooks, which is included in tuition! It's nice not having to buy all your books and try and re-sell them later. There are also new released movies to watch at discounted rates in the Encore on campus, tickets are free with UWSP ID and only $3 without! Enjoy all the campus has to offer with comedians and hypnotists alike in the University Center for free as well. If you need a job, the website has all the opportunities on campus, I'm involved in Snow Crew which is a really nice job, early mornings but great pay and fun company. There are hundreds of jobs available just go to the Student Involvement and Employment Office and ask around.
Am enjoying being here I love this college, it is laid back, people are very friendly and willing to get to know one another. The campus offers free entertainment every weekend that is totally free as long as you have your student ID. Plus there is Schmeeckle Reserve located on campus for those nature lovers! Which offers trails for hiking, walking, biking and skiing. There are SO many clubs here to choose from like lacrosse, rugby, taekwondo, paintball, archery and many, many more; those are just the few I am in! You will not find a dull moment on this campus.
Am learning a lot I'm a College of Natural Resources major in Resource Management: Environmental Ed/Interpretation and going for certification in Wetland Sciences. The professors at this school for any discipline are amazing! It's a small enough school that they take time to get to know you, and you build relationships with them so they can be used as references! The teachers understand that everyone is going for a different major and they know not everyone is good at every class. Very fair graders and willing to work with students needs. Plus, they offer all sorts of gym courses from rock climbing to tennis, badminton, taekwondo (which I volunteer and teach at the University! and in TKD Club!) and others like CPR, so even if you're not a fan of gym, you can find something for you!

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a campus patrol and they are very friendly people. There are also many emergency beacons throughout the campus.
Clubs and Activities Like i mentioned previously there is a disk golf club and they are very involved in the various courses in the portage county area. There are many other great clubs as well including ones relative to various majors.
Great for these types of students Stevens Point is very well known for being the best college for natural resource majors in the country so it should come as no surprise that if your into natural resources you should go here.
Bang for the buck For what you are paying for it would be next to impossible to receive a better education.
What to do for fun There are many fields for playing football, soccer, baseball, and just about anything else. There are many athletic clubs such as the disc golf club. There are many parks to visit with many great fishing spots.
Food and Dining The university has a student run dining service which has gained a lot of attention for being one of the best student run dining facilities in the state. The food is pretty good as well! Also there is quite a good variety among the different facilities.
Dorm Life The dorm life at UWSP is pretty good in my opinion. Within the dorm communities there are many programs put on by the community advisers which are beneficial to the residents. There are plenty of quiet places to study and a nice computer lab in each dorm.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor at this college is about moderate plus in my opinion. Some classes are going to be more intensive than others. However the more intensive classes tend to be the 300 and 400 level courses which is to be expected.
Tips for prospective students Be careful of bottleneck courses, which are courses that a large number of students are required to take to get a degree but only a limited number of classes are offered. These classes fill up very quickly and thus require students to be put on a waiting list. These waiting lists fill up very quickly so it is imperative that you get on the list as soon as the course fills up.
In three sentences The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is a great college to attend if you prefer a generally smaller sized campus. Class sizes tend to be smaller as a result which I find very beneficial. Additionally most professors are welcome to questions and will often meet outside of class to help when asked.

Tips for prospective students Very good school. Biggest problem was the amount of General Degree Requirements the school has. You need to take A LOT of extra classes that aren't related to your major.

Categories Comments Campus Safety it is a smaller city and stevens point is one of the safest cities in wisconsin. there is always campus security around if there's ever an emergency.
Greek Life i am not involved in greek life. it doesn't seem to be a huge deal on campus but it would be a good way to meet people and be involved.
Clubs and Activities there are plenty of clubs and activities for people with many different interests.
Great for these types of students anyone who likes the outdoors, hunting, fishing, anyone who is interested in natural resources or ecology.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the natural reserve on campus is something beautiful that you usually don't see at other universities. we have an eco dorm that runs mostly off of solar power.
Bang for the buck uwsp has a text book rental system so you don't have to pay for your books which is a huge relief. it is also one of the cheapest schools in wisconsin but keeps the education at a high level. it is incredibly reasonably priced.
What to do for fun going downtown stevens point on a saturday is a nice change, there are a lot of cute shops and good places to eat. go into the nature reserve that's on campus, it's beautiful and a nice place to relieve stress. go to free concerts, a lot of the bands that play are good and it's free entertainment.
Food and Dining stevens point has its own dinning service and they try to get most of their ingredients from local farms or stores. there is usually a variety and i enjoy the food. the only complaint i would have is that the hours of operation aren't always the best.
Dorm Life dorm life is a great experience here. there are always activities going on and you are encouraged to leave your door open and meet new people. this staff members are always nice and helpful.
Academic Rigor the classes are moderately difficult. as long as you do all of your work and readings you will do great. it is not difficult to succeed if you put in the work.
Tips for prospective students the first tip is to get involved as much as you can, join clubs and go to as many free events as you can. be social, try to meet new people, and talk to strangers. also go in for help if you need it, most professors want to help you.
In three sentences stevens point is a beautiful campus and is very environmentally conscious. it has a beautiful campus with a reserve and hiking trails right by the dorms. it is an amazing place if you are into natural resources and being around nature.

Categories Comments Campus Safety there are alarm buttons around campus that students can press if they are in danger and they notifiy the police who will be there within minutes.
Clubs and Activities there are many activities on campus available to everyone at no cost, you name it they have it.
Great for these types of students great for students who want to escape from big cities, but not be bored.
Bang for the buck i think it is worth going to uwsp. it is in a smaller town so there is a little bit of less distractions going on, but at the same time there is still many activities to do in the spare time you may have.
What to do for fun the campus sends out email everyday for extra events going on around campus. there are a hand full of sand vollyball courts as well as a lake to run around.
Food and Dining there are many cafes around the campus that students can use their campus card and cash as well.
Dorm Life i'm not sure, i didn't live in the dorms.
Academic Rigor teachers are always willing to help you with any questions you have. they all have office hours and are excited to see you when you come in to talk. i've noticed a lot of powerpoints and word documents for the style of lecture but there is a lot of hands on during labs as well.
Tips for prospective students take a walk around campus and see where the buildings are. they call the buildings by their initials, so it may be tricky to find your way around according to your schedule.
In three sentences the university os wisconsin-stevens point is a great school. there are many teachers who care about their students. the education recieved is outstanding; i feel like i will be ready for my career when i graduate.

Dorm Life when talking to students that lived on campus they said nothing but great review about living in the dorms.
Academic Rigor when visiting the campus and talking to the professiors the class seemed very rigorous but fun.

Categories Comments Food and Dining The food is could be better but it is not entirely horrible. There are many options and it is easy to find healthy thing to eat.
Dorm Life Very fun, most people are relatively friendly here and it is super easy to make friends.
Academic Rigor The academics are not that hard if you are willing to put the time in. However, some of the teachers in the general classes are rather boring.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your teachers and explore all the opportunities that Steven's point has to offer.
In three sentences It is a beautiful campus with lots of room. It is geared towards science with lots of useful field work. Overall great and safe campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus police are always on duty and there are various protective services that are provided.
Clubs and Activities There are so many options, they are endless.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is always a block party during homecoming near campus that is very fun to attend.
Bang for the buck The price at UWSP is exceptional and you definitely get what you pay for and more.
What to do for fun There are tons of activities to get involved in such as sports teams and even playing volleyball on the courts outside the dorms. It is great!
Food and Dining There is a range of food to choose from, but they seem to be very repetitive. The quality of food isn't as great as it could be.
Dorm Life The dorms offer everything they possibly could and give the students many options.
Academic Rigor The professors are excellent and the university offers a wide range of courses.
Tips for prospective students There is a wide variety of students enrolled here and they are all very friendly. Get involved with the university and make as many friends as possible.
In three sentences The university is extremely well set up and easy for students to get used to. It feel very comfortable and the atmosphere is excellent. There are some improvements that could be done such as the food services.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This is a very safe city. The campus is well lit at night, and there is close to zero violent crime, robberies, etc. My biggest concern safety-wise in this town is drunk driving.
Greek Life There are a few sororities/ fraternities on campus, but I don't know a lot about them. They don't seem to be terribly important here.
Clubs and Activities Like every university, there are clubs for just about everything. Almost every major has at least one academic club associated with it, and there are also several clubs that are just for fun. Intramurals are very popular as well.
Great for these types of students Point is certainly a prime school for natural resources majors or outdoorsy people. There is also a lot of people here that are environmental-minded (vegan, vegetarian, local-only, bicyclists, etc.)
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Stevens Point's claim to fame is Schmeekle Reserve. It's a beautiful nature reserve with a one-mile trail around the lake for biking, running, or walking. There are several other trails throughout the rest of the reserve as well.
Bang for the buck Stevens Point is a very reasonably priced school. While many people end up in school for 4.5 or 5 years, it is certainly possible to graduate in 4 or less if you are organized with class planning. There are also tons of job opportunities on campus.
What to do for fun Stevens Point has a lot to offer for outdoorsy people; there are tons of bike trails, hiking trails, lakes, nature reserves, etc. Otherwise, there are a couple places for shopping, some great little restaurants, indie shops, bars, bakeries, and the farmers market downtown.
Food and Dining Unknown.
Dorm Life Unknown, I did not live in the dorms.
Academic Rigor I have had a few difficult classes here, but most of them seem to be taught in baby steps. As a transfer student, I am comparing the academic rigor with UW- Eau Claire and I would consider it low to moderate.
Tips for prospective students I would suggest getting to know the teachers in your major. Having someone to put down as a reference for scholarship, internship, and job applications is very important. Explore what the city (and surrounding area) has to offer; there is a lot more than meets the eye.
In three sentences Stevens Point is a great school for those interested in natural resources. People who are not so outdoorsy may feel like an outsider. Academically, all the teachers I have had are knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to help any student that is willing to learn.

Great for these types of students sporty types and book worms.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a Larping team that has weekly meetings.
Bang for the buck Close to many places and has many attractions like a YMCA.
What to do for fun Sports, dancing, singing, speaking, movies, games, swimming, shopping, etc.
Food and Dining Eating is necessary for life so why not do it with out a penny out of pocket.
Dorm Life It's a great way to get away from your parents and not have to worry about getting to and from school.
Academic Rigor Putting yourself in a situation where you have to work even harder to excel.
Tips for prospective students Do well in school and you will succeed.

Clubs and Activities Huge selections of club sports and academic!
What to do for fun Awesome out door activities. Lakes, WI river, reserve, and downtown. Movie theaters, fishing, swimming. Skiing, snowboarding and mall 20 min away in wausau
Academic Rigor Depending on your major and classes. Classes are challenging but not impossible. There are plenty of places to receive help if needed.
Tips for prospective students Talk with your teachers, make sure to seek help right away if you need it. Meet people and get into study groups!

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities Lots of clubs and organizations for any interest you may have! You can always start a club yourself if it's not already offered. Great way to meet new people and to get involved with the community.
What to do for fun Go out for some drinks downtown, go fishing in the WI river or enjoy the wildlife in any of the local parks and nature reserves near Point.
Food and Dining Restaurants in Stevens Point are big on organic farming and local produce. There are some cute coffee shops in town, so skip on the Starbucks. Lots of fast food chains near campus. Don't miss Belt's ice cream shop- sooo much ice cream for such an affordable price! and delicious. Awesome sushi restaurant out of town.
Academic Rigor It depends on your major and your professor. I'm thoroughly happy with my education thus far.
Tips for prospective students Join student clubs and organizations, volunteer and get involved!
In three sentences UWSP is affordable. UWSP is a safe campus. UWSP is small enough that you get to know your professors, but you are always presented with plenty of opportunities to meet new people.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is highly tolerated at Point. Everyone is safe and no one feels neglected and endangered. There are security cameras and call/emergency boxes outside everywhere if you ever need help.
Clubs and Activities The clubs and activities at Point are a great way to getting to know more and new people and get involved into campus activities and really feel important in the communities. The clubs are always welcoming and there are many flyers and announcements of what each club is always doing. Always be on a lookout!
Great for these types of students Point isn't really diverse, so it emphasizes on cultural differences. Point wants equal distribution to all students whether the different race or not. So if you're a minority, come to Point definitely, they want you!
Bang for the buck UW-Stevens Point overall is a great school. It's not too small, but not too big either. I'd say it's perfect size. It's only goal is to make the life of the student body better and to make them academically challenged but for the career. Definitely a great school to go to because there's just so much to do at Point even though it's a small town.
What to do for fun There are a lot of activities and events that are always going on in UW-Stevens Point. You are always emailed daily to get news about what will be going on for the day and how you can get involved in different clubs and activities. There are also group fitness every night that can also intrigue you, but once you make new friends, there are places that are walking distance that many young people go to, to have fun.
Food and Dining You get to use your meal swipes for everything basically! Determining how much swipes you get, you really have no limit. The food is great and only strives for the healthiness of the student body. Definitely a great thing!
Dorm Life Dorm life is amazing! The people are great and you get to choose who your room mate is or get randomly put into a room with one. People are nice even if you don't know them and you do get to build life long relationships with your room mate, whether you knew them or not. Also, the dorms are safe and quiet and the RA's do really enforce rules for everyone's safety and just for the community itself.
Academic Rigor Point could be rigorous or not depending on the classes that you take. When you're getting into your core classes, then definitely it will get harder, but hey, it's something that you enjoy doing. Also if you're having a hard time, class sizes are small and intimate so it won't feel so competitive when needing help from a professor.
Tips for prospective students Some tips are that when looking for a college to attend to, look for one that will really benefit your future and yourself. A college is a big step for a lot of people and you want to find one that will make you a better person but will make you work harder for yourself.
In three sentences Point is a safe environment because it's such a small and quiet town, that whomever goes there, will feel secured . It is also very friend and can really pull in people into clubs to make them feel welcome. Lastly, UWSP is a college that really wants their students to do well academically but also in their future when they graduate from there.

Food and Dining The food is an all you can eat buffet with many options. Good food to fill up on.
Dorm Life Very fun and has the feeling of home. It is easy to make friends.
Academic Rigor The course load is very manageable with some good time management.
Tips for prospective students Work hard and if needed go to the teacher for advice.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are a lot of fun things available to students to do here. Games and school sponsored events are free with your student id! There are also trips and dances held by different organizations and of course, all the events held by each of the dorms here. There are plenty of things to participate in that are fun here.
Food and Dining The food here is like most campus food; not the same as a good home-cooked meal, but it isn't bad. The atmosphere of the dining areas make in ten times better though. They have recently remodeled one of our eating areas and thinking about starting another. A nice looking, clean, and homey place to eat makes the food here better.
Dorm Life Dorm life is great! Each dorm has a multitude of activities almost every day that you and friends can enjoy. It's really like a home away from home for me and you really get close to the people who live around you.
Academic Rigor Here at UWSP they make sure you have every possible thing you need in order to get good grades. They offer tutors, group studies, quiet areas in the library, study lounges in the dorms, and so much more. The professors here make time for their students for any questions on concerns you may have about you class or tests. Anything you need, really, someone will be willing to help you.
Tips for prospective students GET INVOLVED! There are so many clubs and organizations you can join here at UWSP. Take advantage of anything you can and make friends, it makes life so much easier when you do and makes your college experience even better.
In three sentences UWSP is a great school, it is big on our environment and Natural Sciences and they also offer many other majors and minors here. The environment is awesome and very green. I absolutely love it here, the professors and advisers are great and you can tell they love their jobs.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are police and security just like any other place.
Greek Life its all greek to me
Clubs and Activities There is a club for everything. litterally.
Great for these types of students hippies, environmentalists, outdoorsmen, actors, artists
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a nature preserve that offers a broad spectrum of ecosystems. Marshes, old growth and new growth forests. Praries, lakes. Sometimes they show football games on the big screen in the field
Bang for the buck This school is the cheapest state school I believe. I've met so many like minded people and there are so many opportunities.
What to do for fun Take a walk in Schmeekle, go longboarding. Join a club
Food and Dining besides the powdered eggs everything is perfect for a college student.
Dorm Life Its small, crammed, and stinky. My roommate is a slob. The showers are always clean.
Academic Rigor The classes are challenging. Taking notes while your professor talks a mile a minute is difficult. I've studied for both of my exams so far and passed each.
Tips for prospective students Get used to studying. College is a 9-5 job. Also, don't be afraid to meet new people, they may become your new best friends.
In three sentences The university is the place to be if you like the outdoors, and friendly people. They are leaders in living green. Also, they offer organic chocolate soy milk, whats not to love?

Tips for prospective students Get a great education without the big price tag.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very safe, I have never felt threatened there. There is campus security and there are posts all around campus with buttons that immediately call security if needed.
Greek Life To be honest I don't know much about Greek life because I am not involved in any Sororities.
Clubs and Activities There are countless clubs and activities on Stevens Point I couldn't even begin to describe them all.
Great for these types of students Education majors, drama and the arts majors, communications majors, and natural resources/forestry/fisheries/wildlife and conservation majors will fit in perfectly on this campus. There are buildings dedicated to all of these majors.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a tile mural on the Trainer Natural Resources building and legend has it that one of the tiles is red, however, I don't know of anyone finding it.
Bang for the buck College isn't cheap, but because UW-Stevens Point is a public school it isn't as expensive as many other colleges. I think that for what I am paying I am getting a great education.
What to do for fun For fun I like to go out for walks/runs out on Schmeekle, the nature preserve that is located right next to campus. There is a movie theater in Stevens Point, more than one bowling alley, and a good bar scene downtown for students who are 21 or older. The Brewhause is a popular hang out place that is located on campus.
Food and Dining They have a lot of food options. There are 3 different places on campus, plus a small cafe. They offer a good variety of food, only it can be expensive at times. There are also a lot of vegetarian options and locally grown things at the cafe.
Dorm Life The dorm rooms are your typical rooms. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are public and shared by each floor. The dorm staff is really helpful, though, and they always have a lot of activities for students.
Academic Rigor I think the professors do a great job of challenging you while still remaining accessible to you. The classes are challenging but if help is needed you can always go to your professors for help.
Tips for prospective students As a prospective college student make sure you get involved on campus and stay active within your school. Don't skip classes because once you start skipping it becomes a habit. Just remember to balance your free time so that you can study and do well while making memories!
In three sentences I'm glad I chose this school, it's a perfect fit. UW-Stevens Point made me feel welcome right away and as an undeclared freshman they really helped me try to figure out a major. It's a friendly place and a great choice for anyone going into any sort of natural resources or conservation major.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are usually little to no reported crimes
Clubs and Activities There are 200 organizations to be a part of or you can create your own.
Bang for the buck Very affordable, especially if you fill out FAFSA.
What to do for fun You can join organizations. On Saturdays you can attend the on campus movie theater that is free for UWSP students. You can also go down town, which is only five minutes away on walk. They have open gym for certain days that you can swim or workout. Just like any other college, there willl be parties and the usual things.
Food and Dining Fantastic! The majority of the food served at UWSP is locally or state grown. The food is very tasteful and the drinks are good as well.
Dorm Life When I visited the dorms, the only issue I had about them were that the rooms were small. Yet for the residence halls (dorms), there are student committees for each one that can help organize and schedule events specifically in and for the hall which is pretty interesting.
Academic Rigor Time management will help you with the complexity of your classes and schedule, which is flexible. Always make time for everything.
Tips for prospective students People surmise about UWSP not being a very exciting college, due to its size. College life is very dependent on you whether it is somewhere like in NYC or somewhere in Wyoming. UWSP can be very boring or interesting depending on how much you stay involve. So please get involved! That will increase your college experience.
In three sentences UWSP is a very nice school, who cares a lot about their environment and their students. There are about 200 student organizations that anyone can be a part of. From what I see, the tuition costs is very affordable, regardless of income.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is equipped with blue button emergency towers where students can contact the police if they feel unsafe. The campus police are not hard to find and the campus is small enough that students will not get lost walking back to their dorm rooms.
Greek Life The Greek Life is very small and underground. If a student wants to find a sorority or fraternity, he or she must seek out information on their own time. Do not expect a large amount of parties at this school, either.
Clubs and Activities The only information about clubs that students receive is through their e-mail. The Student and Involvement and Employment Office holds an abundance of information; however, the office can be hard to find as it is located in the bottom of the Dreyfus University Center.
Great for these types of students The University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point is a great college for small town students who are interested in commuting. Students who are interested in natural resources will also enjoy this college.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One of the most unique aspects of the UWSP campus is the Natural Resources building. Students who wander around the TNR building will find a rooftop greenhouse and a live alligator!
Bang for the buck The University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point offers a great education, a myriad of activities, and a hometown atmosphere with a price that cannot be beat. Any student who is looking for a smooth transition into college will find what they are looking for at this university.
What to do for fun The Residence Hall Association works hard to bring awesome activities to campus. In the past, the RHA has hosted dance nights, Homecoming activities, and much more. The Community Advisors in each hall also create their own mini activities for dorm students. These activities are fun and very social.
Food and Dining The DeBot Dining Center has an all-you-can-eat cafeteria as well as a convenience store in the basement of the building. Throughout the year, the dining center incorporates theme days into the menu. In 2012, students were treated to Harry Potter night, Caribbean Carnival dinner, and Chocolate Madness.
Dorm Life While some dorms, like Thomson and Hansen, are very social, other residence halls are not as close knit. The best way to meet new people is to be completely open-minded about college. You will be happier if you make an effort to make new friends.
Academic Rigor Studying is key for success in any class at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. Depending on a student's major and his or her work ethic, the rigor of the academics will be easier or harder; however, this applies to all areas of life and all colleges. Work hard and the courses will be easy.
Tips for prospective students Students who are interested in this school should apply early and maintain a good GPA throughout your senior year. If students are involved in extracurriculars in high school, they will be more likely to be accepted than a student who has good grades and no extracurricular involvement.
In three sentences Stevens Point is a good university for small town students, commuter students, and students who were not in the top 25 percent of their graduating classes. The Natural Resources programs are among the top 10 in the nation and the tuition price cannot be beat. Students who only want to party will not find the scene they are looking for at this school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This has to be one of the safest campuses that I have ever been to.
Clubs and Activities Student Government is a great place to get involved on campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have an on-campus nature reserve!
Bang for the buck This is a great university in terms of the amount of individual attention that you can get, especially for the low amount of tuition.
What to do for fun One of the biggest draws for on-campus fun is enjoying the nature preserve on campus.
Food and Dining I think there are many places where the food service can improve the quality the food.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms offers a unique living experience that changes from dorm to dorm, even from floor to floor. There are opportunities to live in all types of environments from energetic/party atmospheres to quiet floors.
Academic Rigor The classes are as difficult as you make them. If you choose to participate in class and complete the coursework, you will have no problem being a very successful at UWSP.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid of seeking help from your peers, and from your professors.
In three sentences I am very pleased with UWSP. I have found all of the professors to be very willing help you on an individual basis both in and out of class. There are also many opportunities to for students to be involved in student organizations of all different kinds.

Categories Comments Campus Safety It is safe on campus during the day, but at night it is never good to be out by yourself. There are help stations located along sidewalks periodically, but they are not every where. There are many drunk people out on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. But, in general if you are not by yourself, you should be safe.
Greek Life Lots of parties, leadership conferences, and volunteer work.
Clubs and Activities Stevens Point offers a wide variety of clubs and activities. The only down side to the activities offered is that they usually cost money because the town and forest preserve are too small to do much in.
Great for these types of students Great school for students that are really into going green. Also, it is a great school for anyone interested in natural resources! Many people are hunters, so if you are into hunting that is also a plus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The biggest thing to know about Stevens Point is Belt's ice cream. It is the ice cream place to go to. They are home of the world's tallest ice cream cone!
Bang for the buck Stevens Point is a very affordable school!
What to do for fun There are plenty of programs at the DUC to do for fun. They have a bunch of different bands come and preform pretty much every weekend. In addition, they have free movies. Also, there is a nice trial and forest preserve on campus. There is also a nice gym with a climbing wall and the allen fitness center on campus offers free fitness classes.
Food and Dining The food looks a lot better than it tastes. Debot does not have the best food, but the DUC usually has better and healthier options. The CPS cafe also offers tasty food, but you can not use meal swipes there.
Dorm Life I have had a great experience in the dorms! The bathrooms are relatively clean. There are plenty of programs offered so that you can get to know other people living in your dorm. Also, there are plenty of other rooms where you can study, or just hang out with friends.
Academic Rigor The difficulty of a class really depends on the teacher. By using the website ratemyprofessor.com, I have been able to have some really great teachers that honestly care about their students.
Tips for prospective students Just be aware that the culture at school (especially the college of natural resources) is one of drinking and hunting. It is really important to get involved at the school cause it is easy to get lost in the crowd. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, so don't be afraid to get involved!
In three sentences Stevens Point is overall a good school with many great teachers. The campus is relatively small which is good and bad. Also, while the school offers some late night programs, there is still a lot of drinking.

Greek Life I do not know, as I am an online student. I do not live in Steven's Point.
Clubs and Activities I do not know, as I am an online student. I do not live in Steven's Point.
Great for these types of students Students with a full time job, stay at home mothers, and full time students living with their parents for free can take this online degree program. Possibly nannies and people volunteering on organic farms in exchange for room and board could take this program.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I do not know, as I am an online student. I do not live in Steven's Point.
Bang for the buck This is a very amazing program that is inexpensive due to the fact that it is online.
What to do for fun They have a student newsletter that will come to your email every day to tell you what you can do for fun. There are many performances and talks.
Food and Dining I do not know, as I am an online student. I do not live in Steven's Point.
Dorm Life I do not know, as I am an online student. I do not live in Steven's Point.
Academic Rigor The courses are quite rigorous. You will grow a lot in them. They are designed so that you grow step by step in your understanding.
Tips for prospective students Make a profile page. Be sure to talk to your fellow students on the discussion boards. You can learn a lot from them. Study hard and write carefully, and you will probably get an A!
In three sentences UW - Steven's Point offers an excellent online Master's of Science program in Environmental Education and Interpretation. Teachers are from across the US, and are very dedicated to creating excellent courses. You will love this program!

Categories Comments What to do for fun Stevens Point is not a huge city, it just has one small downtown and you have to drive around 15 minutes to get to the nearest Walmart, but the school has many activites that they do to try and get the students, especially those in the dorms, outside and having fun. On campus there is also a reserve that is always great to walk through.
Tips for prospective students Get out there, try new things, become involved in clubs because it could help lead you in the direction you want to go for your future.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel very safe on campus at all times.
Greek Life I am not involved in Greek Life, and it's not a big deal if your not. Although it is another great way to meet people.
Clubs and Activities I recommend checking out InterVarstiy or Cru! And getting involved with clubs regarding your major.
Great for these types of students Fine Arts, Natural Resources, and Sciences are all very strong a Stevens Point.
What to do for fun It is very important to spend time with friends and take a break from academics. My friends and I do Intramural Sports, go to sporting events, or even just playing Table Tennis in the basement of our dorm. We have a blast doing all of these things and many more!
Food and Dining The food at UW Stevens Point is quite good. There are almost always a large amount of options in the cafeteria and there are a good variety of places to throughout the campus.
Dorm Life The first thing I recommend when first living in a dorm is getting to know a large portion of the people on your hallway, because you'll be living with them, and seeing them everyday. Some of the coolest people I've met at Stevens Point are living right down the hall from me, and living with your friends makes everything a lot easier.
Academic Rigor I've found while being at school, challenging yourself may seem tough, but can display the best of your academic success and achievements.
Tips for prospective students As a new student at Stevens Point, they should come to campus with a open mind. The more people you meet the better. It is very important to stay focused on studying the next few years of your college career. It is also very important to be involved and interact with other students. Enjoy every moment you get at Stevens Point!
In three sentences I feel that Stevens Point is a fantastic school for achieving higher education. The student population is not too large to get to know many people. The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point has a well put together education program, a phenomenal Fine Arts department, as well as, a many others.

Categories Comments Campus Safety They are so good with safety.... if you get drunk make sure to stay inside; sometimes the cops will write you a ticket just for walking around drunk on the sidewalks!
Clubs and Activities They have it all.
Great for these types of students Nerds, jocks, social butterflies, normal people. Everyone is very down-to-earth.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Labor of Love is a good idea..... also, if you pay attention, there are a lot of random things you can go to for free food!!!
Bang for the buck Not very expensive, but it feels like it is.
What to do for fun Go to downtown for Polito's pizza. WHEN YOU ARE 21, there are plenty of bars there too. Walk through the Schmeekle nature reserve; lots of good memories form there! Whatever YOU like to do, there will definitely be someone else there that has the same interests as you.
Food and Dining One thing I don't like about the dining program is that if you're a freshman you're required to get a dining plan of either 150, 200, or 250 meals per semester. I got the 200. Your meals don't get to roll over to the next semester, so by the end I felt pressured to buy like everything they had just to let my meals not go to waste!!!
Dorm Life Everyone is so friendly. I'm a freshman in Pray-Sims dorm and I already feel so at home and have so many people I can talk to or hang out with. It really is awesome how nice everyone is.
Academic Rigor It's a good balance. You won't fail miserably unless you don't put any effort into it. Usually classes are easy if you are willing to study.
Tips for prospective students Tour it first; that's the most important thing. Also, make sure you check out the general ed. requirements; they're pretty specific. Take AP classes that will help you get those done with.
In three sentences It's the perfect size: not too big, not too small. While the snow makes walking/biking a bit of a challenge in the winter time, there really aren't any building that are very far away from each other. You get the academic resources of a bigger school and the ability to know almost everyone on campus at the same time!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very safe, the campus security can be seen all day driving around, doing their rounds.
Greek Life There aren't a lot of Greek organizations like you see on larger universities.
Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs and intramurals to join. They offer basketball, trench, flag football, soccer, volleyball, basically any sport you can think of including belgarth. The school has club teams such as rugby and many more.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The science building is the most confusing building on campus. There are four diferent wings and being almost a junior I still get lost.
Bang for the buck The price is right compared to larger D1 schools like UW Madison.
What to do for fun The university offers open gym time and rock wall climbing to all students. There is always things going on in the dorms, like being with friends and activities the halls put on.
Food and Dining The food is decent for being able to feed so many students. They do a good job of offering healthy options. They offer vegetation and vegan options at every meal.
Dorm Life I love living in the dorms, its a great way to meet people and get involved around campus.
Academic Rigor The majority of the classes are doable. But you need to study, its college what do you expect?
Tips for prospective students If they have a major you are interested in go for it! If not do it anyways, there are a lot of majors to choose from and the best way to know what you want to do is try it out!
In three sentences UWSP is high quality university for less money than a larger university. The professors are top notch and dedicated to their students. Campus gets students involved, and is fun to be on.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have not heard of very many security problems on campus. The sidewalks are all well light and there are Security Emergency Blue Light Button Poles throughout the campus.
Clubs and Activities UWSP offers a TON of clubs and organizations. Get involved!
What to do for fun Centertainment is a group on campus that organizes fun events around campus. Events have included movie showing, bingo, Wii nights, scavenger hunts, bands, hypnotists and several other fun activities.
Food and Dining The Upper Depot dining center has fairly decent food and is buffet style, but most people prefer Lower Depot, which offers hand made subs, personal pizzas, other foods, and is a convenience store. Meal plan works here. Dreyfus Center has amazing food, food plan works there too.
Dorm Life Only some of the halls are renovated. The renovated halls have new paint, carpet and in room thermostats. Un-renovated halls are still nice and livable but don't have room-specific thermostats. Alcohol free floors are available. Kitchens on very floor.
Academic Rigor Some classes are fairly easy, while other are more difficult. It all depends on the professor, class level and content. Some classes need a lot of out-of-class work, but it is beneficial for in class and tests.
Tips for prospective students Tour before coming to make sure you like it. Find a club to join right away, you will meet so many people that way!

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very safe. It is well lite at night in case you have night class and you can usually see at least one campus police or city police car from your trip from your class to your room.
Greek Life I believe there are 5 Fraternities and only 3 Sororities. All of which are made up of really nice people. They are always hosting fun events.
Clubs and Activities There are enough clubs and activites to keep you busy for the rest of your life here.
Great for these types of students This is a huge natural resource school. If your into conservation of any sort this is the place to go. After all, it's the top school in the nation for natural resources.
Bang for the buck For the most part you get the most bank for your buck here, but like all colleges it is really how you make it. You can either make it worth the money by working hard or make it a waste of money by always goofing off.
What to do for fun Most of the time myself and my floor mates go to the university center in our free time to see free movies, comedians, and bands. Sometimes we even go to the sporting events on campus.
Food and Dining It's definitely not home cooking. It's a lot like the cafeteria's in high schools just with a larger selection and an all you can eat policy.
Dorm Life The dorms are dorms. They are on the smaller side but your allowed to rearrange however you like. The bathrooms are community bathrooms but it's never hard to find an open stall or shower. They have a lot of different programs inside each resident hall to promote new friends and new ideas.
Academic Rigor The academics here deffinetly keep you working, but it is nothing that anyone can't handle.
Tips for prospective students Check out everything and know exactly where your going in the buildings. They are not very big but have a weird room set up in some of them.
In three sentences UWSP is a beautiful school. The campus is very compact and easy to get around on. The school is also conveniently placed between a state park and the rest of the town so you can get away or get into the busy city life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I always feel safe. There is a free campus cab and emergency call buttons around campus.
Greek Life Greek life is not very big.
Clubs and Activities Yoga club, animal behavior club, herpetology society, the wildlife society.
Great for these types of students Outdoors enthusiasts.
Bang for the buck Great school, tuition is relatively low compared to other schools.
What to do for fun Hike, go downtown.
Food and Dining The dining plan is not a very good value. It is extremely overpriced for the small amount of servings you get. Unless you go to Upper Debot, which is all you can eat, but the food taste terrible there. I do like the vegetarian substitutes.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms is a great way to meet new people. There is usually activities planned by the hall every week. Sometimes you might have loud neighbors, or CAs that take their job too seriously and think they control every aspect of your life, but some are pretty laid back. There might be people living in the floor kitchens so you'll have to go to the basement to cook or wash dishes; but it's not that big of a deal.
Academic Rigor Depending on what classes you take, most of them are pretty straightforward. You can do well if you go to class and put in the effort. There is also free group tutoring for 100 and 200 level classes which is extremely useful.
Tips for prospective students Check out multiple student organizations and then pick one or two that you want to commit to. Do not be afraid to get to know your professors or to go to them for help. They really do care about you and also love to chat about their research or what they teach.
In three sentences Great school for natural resources and biology, however some courses are extremely hard to get in to because there aren't enough professors. The campus is beautiful and Schmeeckle Reserve is a great place to go for a hike and see some wildlife. There are a lot of student organizations and ways to get involved.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is a really safe place. I have to walk back from work late at night, and I always feel comfortable. It helps that the school is in such a nice town.
Greek Life Most of the fraternities and sororities do not have their own houses, but they are still a supportive group of people from what I've heard.
Clubs and Activities There is a lot to do on campus, which I mentioned before.
Great for these types of students This campus is great for anyone who likes nature, hunting, fishing, and a relaxed setting. As contradictory as it sounds, this is also a great school for anyone interested in the theatre and the arts. Also, if you like small class sizes, they usually range from 30-100, which allows the professor to actually get to know you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a mosaic on the back of one of the academic buildings. There is a mysterious red tile that appears and disappears every now and then on the mosaic...
Bang for the buck Stevens Point is one of the best deals for UW schools. It is definitely a great experience and worth every dollar.
What to do for fun There are a variety of programs put on by the residence halls and groups on campus all the time. Most of them are even free for students! There are relatively current movies played there every week, and it is also free for students! There are all kinds of intramural sports that you can join. A beautiful walk through Schmeeckle Reserve (which is right off of campus) is a great choice anytime.
Food and Dining The food options are pretty nice here and a lot better than what I've seen at other campuses. Some days are definitely better than others, though.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms is a really great experience most of the time. It is where I met most of my friends, and I don't know what I would do without them. It's definitely a good way to feel a part of the campus.
Academic Rigor Some classes are more difficult than others, but none are impossible. A lot of it depends on your major, the class, and the teacher. Free group tutoring is available for most entry level classes, which is always helpful.
Tips for prospective students Even if you did not have to study in high school, be prepared to study now. Attend your classes regularly, because attendance really does make a difference in performance.
In three sentences UW Stevens Point is a great school. The professors are great and helpful. The campus is small and easy to navigate.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Saftey is very important at UWSP. There are always mulitple campus secerity patrol vehicles driving around the campus ensuring much saftey. There is also a fire station located just down the street as well as a hospital. If there are any kind of activities going on around campus that could endanger a student/s, there is always an e-mail that is sent to the entire student body to give them a heads up as to what is going on and how they can protect themselves and look out for others.
Great for these types of students It is a great school if a student is planning on going into the field of biologly or natural resources. UWSP has a reserve that is located right next to campus that helps allow students to expand their knowledge it these two fields.
Food and Dining There is so much food to eat. The food and dining building at UWSP have basically any food you could think of that is reasonable to serve to a few thousand students. Lets just say you will very be full when you leave.
Dorm Life Dorm life is fun at UWSP. There are a lot of activities that take place within the dorm as well as competitions where dorms compete against dorms. You also meet a lot of people. It is an experience that every one should try for at least a semester.
In three sentences Stevens Point is a very nice University. It has a wide variety of majors a student could choose from, which is nice so if student decides to change majors, there is a good chance UWSP will have it. All in all, it is a very nice university that has a good location, is friendly, and does a great job of educating their students to prepare them for the future.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Stevens Point is an incredibly safe community. You could leave your windows down in your car, and your house unlocked and nothing bad would happen.
Greek Life I wasn't greek but a good friend was. Her sorority was huge, and everyone was always very warm and welcoming to each other. They really were like brothers and sisters and had a tight bond. The greeks have a strict no-hazing policy and act in a professional manner.
Clubs and Activities Free movies, concerts, and events like potting plants, making t-shirts or more. Over 200 clubs from everything from belly dancing to foreign language, to the GSA and more.
Great for these types of students All types. Rigorous students can get involved in undergraduate research and internship opportunities. Students only in it for the fun can enjoy the bar life or party scene.

Food and Dining Buffet style, lower grill open late, and a lot of options at the university center. Also a lot of vegetarian options which is nice.
Dorm Life A lot of fun, and there are always opportunities to switch roommates if you aren't getting along.
Academic Rigor Depending on the major it can be difficult, but college isn't supposed to be about partying. You are supposed to be learning so you can get a job in the future!
Tips for prospective students Get involved, join a club, do something! It's the only way to network and get to know other motivated individuals.
In three sentences Has over 200 student organizations, definitely something for everyone. Moderately sized campus, but small town friendly people. Professors get to know you and help you individually.
