Visit the campus first, you will definitely fall in love! And if you don't, then at least you will know the school is not for you.

Look at Rate My Professor as an invaluable tool before deciding to take a class. When choosing classes, there is an advanced option you should use when trying to find a perfect class to fit certain restrictions (whether it be time during the day, fulfilling an Axle Requirement, etc.). Cannot stress enough to do research with professors there. Get connected. Go to office hours and talk to your professors as much as you can. By doing research with them, it helps even more. Make friends. Enjoy experiences otherwise not granted to you had you not went to such an affluent university.

Possess life experience!!! Vanderbilt University prides itself on having an EXTREMELY diverse student culture. Not only are they looking for academic performance, but are looking for students who are more than students. They want you to be passionate about the field that you are pursuing. For instance, if you are wanting to get admitted to pursue engineering, then it is not only imperative that your SATs/ACTs be excellent, but that you have been exposed to the field of engineering in various ways including high school math/science clubs, competitive engineering teams, shadowing/volunteering with professional engineers, be a student member of a professional engineering organization, etc.

Try and find as many scholarships as possible. Also, Vanderbilt is extremely difficult in course material and work load. Do not apply if you do not think you could handle it.
