    People who want to work in hospitality, healthcare, or cosmetology without going to school for 4 years.
    Tips for prospective students

    Do your homework. By this, I mean talk to different schools and find out what makes them unique, then decide which one is the better fit for YOU and YOUR lifestyle because it is your decision to make and to live with for better or for worse.

    I originally decided to apply here in case I didn't get accepted to the program at the local community college. But after visiting the campus and talking to the admissions and financial aid people, I found that Virginia College is probably a better fit for me!!!!

    Great for these types of students

    If really want to get your feet in the door of your career, this is really the school for you. I am in the Surgical Tech program and I love it so far, and I know I will be successful in my career because of Virginia College.
    Tips for prospective students

    Always do your homework when it comes to colleges and always ask questions no matter if you feel they are dumb. It it can be expensive, especially if you are like me and want to go after you B.S. So look at scholarships and grants you qualify before you commit.
    Bang for the buck

    I work part-time and going to school. It can be more expensive then a community college but there are better quality students, instructors and connections for a career.

    I love it here! If I have a problem it is fixed quickly.

    the school just celebrated its' first year of graduated students on 02/18/2012. the school was replace from the old kmart store on eisenhower pkwy.
    What to do for fun

    since it is a private college there is plenty of outdoor activites that different staffs has for the students. such as on fridays there is free work-out at a local center in macon. the teachers form different activites that doesn't cost student because it already funded throug the school. we just show up.

    my tip for prospective students is to do your research before making your final choice. score the environment and the staff. is the atmosphere right or have that comfortable feeling? does it bring out the potential in you that you never thought you had?

    virginia college is great for all types of students! the academics they provide along with the help available to students, will help support any type of student.
    Bang for the buck

    virginia college employees have been very impressive to me, and that alone is worth all the money in tuition. the advisers have been kind, decent employees that do all they can to help. the mini courses i have previously undergone, have already taught me pertinent information.
    What to do for fun

    i can do all sorts of things for fun while enrolled in virginia college. due to the fact that i am pursuing an online career, i can log on whenever is convenient for me, which is a definite plus. fun and games is not my main concern however, providing for my family is.
    Food and Dining

    yet again, i cannot comment on food and dining, as i am an online student. i can only hope virginia college's food and dining is as good of an experience as i have just talking to members on the phone.

    i honestly cannot comment on virginia college's dorm life. i am an online student and i have no clue whether they have dorms or not. i would assume the dorm life through virginia college would be a decent experience however.

    i love virginia college's academic rigor. they are always excited to help, and have very nice encouraging words for students. virginia college gives students plenty of resources, and help, i love that.
    Tips for prospective students

    i have only a few tips for prospective students for virginia college. first, i would suggest that a future student does not wait until the last minute to find funding for college, as it gets kind of 'sticky wicket' when trying to cover all of your bases. second, i would suggest that a prospective student listen to everything their college advisers say, and try to soak it all in, because the information they give you is copious amount for such a small window of time to complete tasks in.

    i would rate virginia college at about an eight out of ten at this current time. the only thing i do not like about virginia college is the fact that they call me about 5 times a day, but i guess that is to be expected when pursuing an online vocation. the people at virginia college have been very nice and extremely helpful throughout my enrollment process.

    i feel that the campus is actually safer than many other campus' i have visited. there is security at the entrance of the building and you must have an i.d. badge to get into most of the area's of the school. with out the badge you can not scan your self into any areas where learning is taking place.

    there are no greek organizations affiliated with this school to my knowlege.

    i do believe that i am getting what i paid for out of this program, it is straight to the point.

    i chat with my classmates or practice on what we have learned in the class on one another.

    there is no cafeteria at this location, only vending machines with a typical variety of snacks.

    i have not been enrolled long enough to fully judge the curriculum of the college nor do i have enough information to judge the college on a whole. i do however know that the classes in which i am currently enrolled have been up to par, in my opinion and have an average level of difficulty.

    make sure to apply early for financial aid reasons, and be sure you know what you would like to study. not all programs are available on all campus', so be sure to do your research.

    virginia college is a small and focused community. it is filled with helpful faculty and staff, last the enrollment and registration process is extremely simple which is a plus.

    The tips I have for other students are that make sure you get your all your information in on time. Stay in touch with your adviser and let them know of any problems that you have. When working online make sure have time management, that way you don't get behind in all your classes.

    Virgina college is a great college that I take online. It has a great finical aid department. They tell you up front about what finical aid package they have to offer. The admission office have great people to help you with all your concerns. I like working online because the class are not hard to follow. The professor's are always there to help.

    Research your options for school and make sure that your selection is the one you want, and that their concern is not looking at you as a dollar sign.

    I would rate Virginia College-Birmingham C+. This rate would mostly reflect on the high turnover at this facility. I have had a wonderful group of instructors here at VC. This institution is not primarily focused on graduates just the money..... and that is not a good feeling being a future graduate December 2012.

    We have security guards patrolling our campus 24 hours of each day. When you walk through the front door of Virginia College you will be greeted by a security guard.

    Fraternities and sororities are not offered here at Virginia College.

    Here at Virginia College there are numerous clubs and activities to do and join. Each program that is offered at Virginia College has their own club and various activities they do within their club. I am currently the vice-president of the Surgical Technology Student Association at Virginia College in Columbia, SC.
    Great for these types of students

    This campus is great for individuals pursuing careers in the medical field who do not want to attend school for many of years. And it is also great for persons thinking about culinary arts and cosmetology.
    Bang for the buck

    Eventhough Virginia College doesn't have the glam and glory, it is a well set-up campus that is about educating students to the highest degree. For we hold a 100% rate passing on certification exams in the programs offered at Virginia College. I am proud to be apart of the Virginia College family in Columbia, South Carolina.
    What to do for fun

    There is a mall across the street from our campus where I tend to go on my breaks in between my classes with my fellow classmates. There is also a movie theater as well.

They treat me as family and value my goals and ambitions to the point that they want to help me reach them. They have the best educators and instructors there that is willing to take time from their busy routine to adhere to my needs and desires as far as my education is concerned.

    there is a lot to do in each quarter. the trick is to start early and stay on top of things. the good thing is that you can turn in your homework at 2 am or 2pm. you have 1 week to do your assignments

    i have learned on my tour that if you want to get waxed or have a pedicure, you can get it done in the cosmetology room by the students and it is cheaper than getting it done at a salon.

    i believe that there will be many challenges to overcome but it will be a very rewarding experience.

    i think that virginia college is going to be a great school because the class sizes are small which makes it easier to ask questions. everything is hands on and the environment makes you feel as if you are already working in the field you are studying in. you also get to do practice interviews to help you increase your chance of getting hired unlike other schools.

    the only bad thing about virginia college is that they do not have dorms. however they do have apartments in the near by city. the campus is actually located in a shopping center.

    the academics are excellent. the teachers lecture is right out of the book where you can follow along. the textbooks they use has the best knowledge.

    All types of students. Even if you were out of school for a while like myself and your trying to come back this is the best school for you. The help and support is great.

    Some of the programs allow externships, and internships in which the student can stay and get more experince in dealing with finance/ budget as well as becoming a medical office assitant.

    Virginia College is great for the student who works, and want to get an education online or who what to go into the field of business and health. It is also great for the student who wants to recieve an associate degree, bachelors or a masters degree.

    The tuition is low. Transfer credits really take the tution down a lot, and the online store is really good for getting a lot of gear. When you enter healthcare you will get a card for discounts off purchases.

    What I do for fun is read. I love e books. I think all books should be on ebooks. Most of them are for students who have not received their books yet.

    They do not have dorms or caffeterias.

    The only dorm life you have is the one that you have at your home when dealing with online learning. That is what makes it so much better for people who work all day. No extra cost for room and board.

    The academic rigor is simple. You contact Virginia College tell them what program you want to register for, and they do the rest. You can even upload tax information if you need for finacial aid information, get trancript form sent to another college or get grades from high school all setting in front of your computer. When it is time for you other classes, the advisors will send you email that your classes are ready, and books are on the way.

    For the student looking for a way to balance home life and school, Virginia College online is way to go. You will get all the books that the other college student and you will have an academic advisor, fancial advisor, and an admission advisor. You will not have to order your book because the advisors will do that for you.

    Virginia College is great for anyone who wants to attend but especially for those students who want to get their career on a jump start and do not have the resources needed to go to a four year college or university.

    I have to say that Virginia College of Charleston is worth the costs. The tuition is simple and books, fees and scrubs are included in the costs. Also, Virginia College gives you career placement after your year long training.

    There is a nice little dining area for students to come and eat, study and just take a break.

    As far as I know, you will have to either bring a sack lunch with you or find a restaurant nearby, for there are no dining halls on campus. Hey, but there's Panera Bread, Olive Garden, Chinese and Thai restaurants, a Japanese steakhouse, an Indian restaurant, and good ol' American fast-food chains located within walking distance, so can you really complain too much?

    No dorms on campus, but there are affordable apartments located near campus; some may offer student discounts.

    Definitely go to their website (http://www.vc.edu) and research the career fields that they offer. They offer online classes and you could even earn a degree online. Call and set up an appointment with an admissions associate; they don't disappoint. Make a list of questions that you want to ask, research financial aid options (grants, scholarships, loans, work-study), and remind yourself that this is one of the most important decisions you will ever make in your life... One day, your kids will thank you.

    we have i.d. badges its the only way you can get inside the school and to class. once you get to the door it scans your id badge give you a green light then you can open the door.

    we do not have a lot of clubs but we do have plenty of tutorial that will help you get your grades up and keep them up. we have study groups almost everyday!!

    that do not want to stay in a dorm. who like meeting new people and just want to learn about what field your in instead of taking unnecessary classes. we also get an externship before you graduate so chance are they might hire you after graduation.

    my son is across the street from the mall. so once everybody go on break we head to the mall for food, exercise, and to do a little shopping until our next class. the mall have seven different restaurants in it so your not suck with just eating one thing everyday. if you don't feel like eating you can always walk around or go to the school library.

    Talk to other classmates in the class cafe and discussion. It can be fun sometimes, especially in the cafe since that is where you can freely talk about other topics other than class work.

    There is no dorm life. You either live at home and attend online, or you live at home and attend campus. They don't have dorms.

    Don't give up if you fail an assignment from a harsh grading. That just means you need to work smarter and really dive into the material the teachers are trying to get you to understand. Remember to read through the material and your professor's expectations. You'll probably get a C or a D eventually, but that will be made up by your intelligence the next time.

    If you consider online school, remember to be self-disciplined and self-motivated. Those are 2 key points to online classes and being sure that your submitting your work on time, as well as participating in class with other students if you want to make that good grade. As long as you are determined to complete your degree, regardless of what life matters get in your way, you'll do great.

    What to do for fun

    My fun time include me doing many things. At the top of the list is basketball being the least important fun activity for. next is studying. I know its sound corny, but surprisingly for me, I love learning about the anatomy and physiology of the human body. I truly enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together. I do this with every that crosses my mind. My number none thing to do is figuring out why we do the things we do for the reasons we do them.

    I really feel that my opinion should be excluded from this section because I simply don't eat here at the college. I have a snack every now and again, but my primary focus is to learn this information to better suite the world of its educated population.

    Virginia college is very strict on attendance and I feel that, that is exactly what we need here, especially those of us going into the medical field.

    I am a very, very structured type person and believe greatly in following the rules. I advised those who do not believe in going the extra mile to any thing in the medical field. None of us wants anyone who half steps through life caring for our love ones.

I love interacting with my instructors and peers who show a more addictive type of personality for the field of study. no other college will do for me. I will continue my education after achieving certification for medical assisting by becoming a nurse. I only wish that where ever I go, there will be a Virginia college waiting for me.

    Very intense! Weekly courses of study are jammed packed with all sorts of wonderful learning activities, but allow you to be open with your thoughts. I don't know how they are able to put all that they do into the amount of weeks required to complete a Quarter, but they do and the material is well defined and geared towards the course objectives.

    Virginia College - Tulsa is a great place for working adults as they offer very flexible class schedules to help accommodate as many students as they can. I work full time during the day and attend classes twice a week in the evening and it's been great!

    I did my homework before choosing Virginia College, and the greatest thing about VC is that EVERYTHING is included in your tuition - books, tutoring, everything!! No hidden fees, no hidden costs!

    They have camera's EVERYWHERE and several security guards. You have to have an ID badge to get inside the school. The only place a non-student can go is to the front desk. I feel VERY safe and secure there. I do not even have to worry about my car in the parking lot!

    It is a small school, so we do not have any sports. You get to know all the students that are in your program and we have get together all the time and have little success parties. The school also throws parties for all the students all the time- and you get extra points in the class you were in when they had the party.

    The cafe they have is very good and it comes from our Culinary School, which they are very supervised and the food is out of this world!! The prices are very reasonable.

Meet with the program director and find out all about what you will be going through, resources that are there for you, and ANY other questions you want to know, do not be afraid of asking asking ANYTHING!

    The campus that I am attending is all in one building, so there is no restaurants. Luckily though, the campus is located downtown and nestled between a whole bunch of great cafe's and local restaurants.

    Virginia College is a private college and as far as I know, they do not offer dorms for students. This is fine by me though, because I still live at home with my parents.

    I toured the school during the night classes, and I noticed how small the classes were! All of the classes are no more than 5 students in a class and I love that! That shows me that I am able to get the one on one attention that I need, and that will help me in the long run.

    Be yourself! The staff at Virginia College are there to help you and to make sure you are making the right choice. Also, make sure you do a lot of research to make sure you're sure this career path is what you want!

    The last college that I attended left me feeling out of place, and lost. Since being accepted into Virginia College, the staff there has made me feel incredibly at home, and made me feel like I was finally on the right track for my education. So far I am incredibly pleased with my experience with Virginia College, and I am so excited to finally be able to work towards my career!

    I do not attend a campus school because I am not a traditional college student. At age 40, I don't think I could quite see myself on a college campus full of young people.

    Because of my hectic schedule, I believe I am acquiring a great education in the field for which I work. Without the opportunity of an online education, I would not be able to go back to school.
    What to do for fun

    For fun, I spend alot of extra time at the football field, baseball field, basketball court, and volleyball court and many, many band concerts supporting any of my three little angels in whatever extracurricular activity they are currently involved with.

    Again, I attend college online because of my family and work. Therefore, my food and dining consists of homecooked meals with my family every evening.

    I attend college online because I have three kids actively involved in extracurricular activities and I work full-time. Because of this, I live in my home.

    Students are held to a higher standard of learning. Textbook information is presented and lecture material and outlines are presented but it don't stop there. Professors go further and present outside material so that students can apply what is presented in the classroom to real life situations.
    Tips for prospective students

    I would say for students wanting to go back to school after being out 20+ years, communicate with your professors on a regular basis. They are there to aid you with your college experience to succeed. Stay on top of your classes and check in regularly.

    The ease of navigating through the online classroom is very user friendly. Most professors in the upper level classes are very encouraging and readily available to answer questions. Classroom lectures and assignments are clearly laid out on a weekly basis so students know what is expected of them.

    campus safety is great there is always a campus police near and you get checked at the door to make sure your in dress code also they can make sure you don't have anything that can hurt other students that makes me feel very safe at this school

    Never give up on your dreams even if it seems you cant go to college you can if one college shuts you down try another because that's what happened to me because of the financial part but one another door shuts another really does open just make sure you keep your goals in mind and never give up on yourself.

    This school is a big joke! The financial aid department sucks because they just bill to get all your eligible financial aid and waits until your last six classes to bill you your part, such as $1235 due every session. Credits do not transfer also.

    One of the unique things I have always really appreciated and loved about my campus is that there is constantly an actual police officer in and around the building from the time the school opens, til the time it closes every single day. I have Never felt unsafe there. They are always willing to walk you to your car or open the door for you so there is a pleasant person on duty every day!

    Virginia College does not currently have a Greek life.

    As I mentioned before, Virginia College has a club for every program that is offered at the school. It is in your best interest to try and attend the meetings and get involved if you can, because it will also prove note worthy on the resume you build later upon completion of your program.

    If you are like me and you have a clear idea of what you want to do, and you're ready to devote plenty of hours a week to get there without all the extra that comes with a community college, then Virginia College's has the most advisable and patient admissions department I have ever seen Period. They also act as sort of career counselors to help get you on the fast track to a new rewarding career that will best fit you without just shoving a bunch of programs in your face and hurrying you for decisions. Virginia College is not for someone that is only attending college because someone in their family pressured them to and they really didn't want to do it.

    Virginia College is always seeking out new ways to keep students interactive and as we grow as a school, there will be many more exciting opportunities for the Staff, Faculty, and Students.

    You remember the saying, You get what you pay for right? I sometimes hear about people I've known going to other schools that offer similar if not the same programs whether it be students or faculty. When they start attending or working at Virginia College they tell me about how much more they like it over the last place they were at. They have since stayed and not transferred again. I still see those same people walking the halls. I don't know about you but I'm paying for Quality education and not some high school experience in which the faculty and students can't wait to leave and every body's miserable as if their parents made them go.
    What to do for fun

    The most rewarding thing you can do for yourself outside of maintaining a great GPA and professionalism would be to join your programs organization. Every program offered at my school has its own organization and that will help you to be more active in fundraisers for charities or just getting out there and helping others in need. I am currently the president of the MASO (Medical Assisting Student Org.) and I can tell you that I am very proud to be able to devote my time and efforts for great causes!

    If you're gonna get done with any college in less than 2 years you need to know that the work load is not going to be easy and quick. You will need to devote 2 hrs of homework for every 1 hr of class that you have.

    Come with a positive attitude and don't think that you may not get employed just because someone else did not utilize all of the resources that were given to them. Also DO NOT start unless you can devote plenty of time for it because this is a private school that doesn't waste a bunch of time of random prerequisites. You will be in and out in less than 2yrs and it can only happen if you are not taking quarters off and not planning on being too busy for it.

    This school has consistently impressed me from the time I started til now in all these aspects. The students seem to really have a focused academic mindset while in the classrooms and hallways, so there doesn't seem to be all those distractions they found in other colleges. The instructors are there for you and really give you all the tools you need to succeed.

    Virginia college is new to Savannah, GA., when I enrolled they were not fully accredited. (Pending). We just passed our audit and now we are fully accredited. I had a family emergency where I was hospitalized. It was the last day to do my finial, the president of Virginia College proctored me right in my hospital bed and returned my final, oh yes by the way I passed.

    We have what's called town hall meetings, one for every program. It happens once a quarter (12 weeks), they hand out special recognition awards: perfect attendance, dean's list, and president's list. These help the students to keep the motivation flowing.

These can tell you the likelihood of you getting a job after you're finished with school. Most of all, chose a career not a job (just over broke). Find one you will be happy in.

    There is really nothing to do for fun at the school that I am aware of.

    A onsite cafeteria would not be a bad idea for this schools since some students are at the school all day depending on where they are traveling from. The vending machines cost way to much, and if you want something well you have to go off campus, and breaks are only 10-15 minutes so that does not give you much time to grab anything nutritional.

    There is no dorm life everything is either night, or day classes.

    Make sure you ask questions before you enroll, and make sure that this is the career path you want to take.     Getting into the door, and getting started with school is fast, and great. I do feel that the school should change their accrediting region so that students are not wasting money if they want to go to another college. Because a lot of schools do not take credits received from Virginia College. So you basically have to start all over again if you want to get a even higher education, and that causes you to put yourself in even more debt.

    Virginia college at Birmingham (online) would be ideal for the type of student will better learns with reading material, not auditory learning. Like myself, I am more of a visual learner, whereas I like to read material.

    I enjoy a working on computers, researching certain historical biography, learning how to improve my typing skills, I, now enjoy writing blogs and daily inspirations for myself. Another thing that I do for fun would probably be learning how to cook from my grandmother.

    I haven't experienced it as in going to Virginia College of Birmingham but I'm sure that they do not have the dorm life privilege in their school.     The difficulties and challenges presented and the academic setting at Virginia College of Birmingham is quite steady. They provide a lot of attention to students to keep them up to par with their studies. My opinion on Virginia College of Birmingham (online) studies shows that they are believing in pursuing excellence through the online learning experience. It is very engaging using discussion boards, very collaborative effort to consistently work towards a higher grade. It seems that they have the goal to help their students become responsible, adaptive, and also independent towards attaining your degree at their establishment.

    If you want to become an online student, you have to practice time management and also learn about the black holes and succeeding in in an online environment. It involves a lot of typing and a lot of your thoughts.
