Look into CLEP and AP first! You might get credit for some classes. If applicable, know where you are going to transfer so you can make sure each class transfers. Have a goal, and prepare accordingly so you do not take unneeded classes.

Ensure that you fill out any financial aid requirements months in advance of the semester. Speak with advisors every semester, as to which classes you should be taking and when. Advisors will also give you deadline dates for financial aid and scholarships.

Make sure you always talk to someone in counseling if you have any questions regarding classes, financial aid, or any other general questions about the college. Also, get to know your teachers, and show them that you are dedicated and that you care about your grades; they will be much more willing to help you in the long run. Lastly, build strong relationships with as many people as you can, because you never know what connections you may need in your career, after graduation.
