    attending walden u was the best decision for me living in southern california. the school really take the time to make sure you have the tools to become successful. the instructors are highly insightful and educated in their fields.

    walden university is great for students who are looking to return to school and have busy home and work lives. they provide disability services for students who need extra accommodations. if you're looking to expand your learning and career, defnintely consider walden.

    having compared walden to several other universities, i found the flexibility of the online learning to be very appropriate for the adult learner. in addition, tuition is reasonably priced.

    i enjoy volunteer activities and spending time with my friends.

    studies are from home, except for residencies.

    for the residencies, you go to a hotel. the rest of the time, it's study from home.

    they appear to be fast paced and challenging. they are definitely comparable to other universities.

    don't be afraid to ask questions. talk with the admissions counselor about your interests in the long run so they can discuss with you the options for the pursuit of your degree program.

    i have found the application process to be very friendly. my admissions counselor has been in contact on a regular basis and has been very encouraging throughout the process. i definitely recommend walden university to anyone who is going back to college and is looking for flexibility in schedule and a great program.

    Students who are too busy for the in-person classes and are fast learners will prosper at Walden University, students that have a very active home life will also benefit from Walden as well.

    Always stay organized and use the tips that the instructors give, time management is easy with Walden because the professors will work with you if you ask them to.

    This school has the best prices I have seen thus far not only is the tuition reasonable but it includes the cost of books, dvd's, and any other materials needed for the course.

    I enjoy the convenience of the Walden university online program, it allows me to be a mother, wife, and RN all at the same time. It gives me the flexibility to balance my personal and professional life.

    I have learned so much new knowledge that I would not had a chance to receive had I choose another university. Not only does Walden have great student support services they have excellent professors mainly doctorates and the have a wealth of knowledge that they share with the students.

    You never have to worry about safety. Walden's online format offers a completely violence free atmosphere. Make the right choice and seek a higher education.

    While there are no traditional clubs, Walden offers an extensive online format with student to student and faculty to student support via email and/or chat. You are never alone at Walden, while support has your back, current students are always there to help.

    Walden University is great for all students; particularly for international and regional students who may seek unusual, or otherwise unattainable programs to bolster their professional endeavors. In addition, Walden is the ideal institution for working professionals and single parents.

    It is highly unusual that graduating classes know each other by first and last name basis, have debated each other and really come to like one another without ever having seen each other. At Walden, one really looks forward to making connections that last and can be conceptualized via fiber optic connection worldwide.

    I have a Bachelor's degree in Health Services Administration and graduated Magna Cum Laude from a local College in my area; however, in this difficult and highly competitive economy, I was unable to gain employment in any field until I started working toward my Master's at Walden. In fact, Walden seemed to open many doors for me as I began speaking confidently and passionately about my field of study to employers. Walden has changed my perspective about the job market and myself as I am now gainfully employed in my field of choice and looking forward to the future.
    What to do for fun

    Attaining personal and professional excellence is not for the faint of heart , or the weak of will. However, learning from a distance has its benefits; such as maintaining social status while impressing your friends with your academic prowess. Go ahead and show off your smarts; attend Walden!

    Eat whatever you like while you study online in your pajamas! Online education is the perfect venue for working professionals, single parents and the elderly or disabled. Imagine attaining your highest and finest good: all from the comfort of your home.

    classes are hard but college is not supposed to be easy, right? the online format makes it fit into a busy schedule better than campus classes.

    this is a fast paced online program. people think that because it is online that it is easier, this is not true. i have taken classes at a college campus and these courses are actually more in-depth. this school allows you to work on your studies at home or anywhere you can get internet service. the instructors are very helpful and the classes are set up to be user friendly.

    Students who are disciplined and are serious about their education. If you are not disciplined then distance learning is not for you. It requires focus and dedication in order to be successful.

    Make sure that you print out your syllabus and get started as soon as your course opens up and stay on top of your assignments. Always reach out for help when needed immediately when confused on an assignment instead of procrastinating.

    I am saving money by choosing an online school. The tuition is cheap compared to other online schools and the accreditation is on point.

    I love being a Walden student! The teachers and advisors are really friendly and helpful with any questions I have and I would recommend this school to anyone!

    Walden University is a great learning experience. There are tons of reading and writing assignments and I feel that my writing is improving thanks to Walden and their caring staff.

    the courses given are very well planned. it is important to remember to do your discussions as well as your applications in a timely fashion.

    i think that walden university gives the student a wonderful education and experience. the instructors, not only give educational advice but also practical advice on the subject matters being taught. i would recommend a person who doesn't have time for a class room setting education to try walden.

    has numerous, numerous types of clubs. the whole ecampus life is devoted to developing a community full of student interactions and activities.

    great for students who work full-time and can't go to class at specific timings. good for students who don't learn well in classroom setting and enjoy using the internet.

    the university is accredited and is taught by professors at masters and doctorate level who have a huge variety of experience in their fields. for example, my communications professor is an actor and has got many accolades for his directing, acting, and producing.

    they have an ecampus life where there are various clubs and activities that you can join.

    since it is online, the food and dining depend on your service at home and how well you cook.

    since the university is completely online, there are no dorms. if you pretend that your bedroom is your dorm room, then you probably have the most comfortable and private dorm in the country!

    because it is online, you are expected to write more and constantly express your thoughts and opinions. the teachers are strict in grading but thankfully there is rubric provided for every assignment so you are never clueless or lost about anything!

    don't be overwhelmed by the initial orientation class. just go through it, most of the information is something you already probably know. believe me, it gets much easier after that!

    walden is a complete online university with help from the enrollment officer every step of the way. instead of the typical three semesters, this university has four quarters per year and each class is normally five quarter credits. it is an excellent university that is completely focused on its students

    great for students who have an adult life that they are not able to put on hold. also great for young adults who would like to go further in their education but are not wanting to relocate or go through the hassle of college life. also great for those who usually find themselves ahead of the curve and are frequently bored in class because of the slow pace.

    this program was the most inexpensive but covered more course topics that i felt would benefit me in the long run.

    i experienced the college life during my undergraduate career so now that is no longer something i look forward to. i do everything that i would do normally for fun including hanging out with friends.

    if you have never taken online courses before please be prepared to work hard and read a lot of material. if you have taken online courses before, please do not under-estimate the course load!

    great university for a working adult who wants higher education that is actually creditable! classes instructors make sure that students have a solid understanding of course materials and the degree requires an actual internship that is not online, giving students a competitive advantage in the working world! class work is done at your own pace and it is possible to have a full life outside of school work

    this is my second online school experience, and comparitively speaking, walden is far superior to my previous school. the classes are well developed, the teachers are very knowledgeable and the staff - from enrollment through advising through tutoring are helpful, courteous and easily accessible. i am very pleased with my choice.

    i have found the program, thus far, to be very challenging. the teachers are very involved and available. but, you have to be ready to do the work - and there is a lot of it.

    the price of tuition is lower than many online schools and they offer a great degree in several areas. overall i am so happy i chose walden over the other online schools i was looking at. i must say, the other choice i had was $40,000 more for my degree than what i am paying at walden.

    play sports, hang out with your children and grand children, watch a great movie, play games with the family,.

    the only dumb question is the one never asked! ask questions! it is important to stay ahead so you don't have to catch up. print out all course requirements and keep it in a binder. print out all weeks assignments ahead of time, so even if you don't have access to a computer, you can see what you have to do next. maintain a positive attitude!

    if you are a fast learner then online would be a good way to get your degree. if you need some time in the learning process i would say go to a physical school where you can get help if you need it.

    the classes are every six weeks with a week break every two classes. i am learning a lot but find that some of the professors are complacent and are only there for their pay. i pay $1300 per class but should be paying $300 because i do it online.

    For an online school it is reasonably priced. They also offer a military discount, which is helpful for those in the service (dependents as well).

    I have learned a lot of new information and my program is challenging. I have found that some professors have low standards, which is frustrating but the end of term evaluations are a way to ensure it doesn't happen in the future.

    Compare and contrast universities that offer the same program and determine which is a better fit for you. I would also recommend asking the speak to their advisors and other staff members you know you will have to interact with. This will give you some insight into how you will be treated as a student.

    Since you primarily work alone, a high level of dedication is necessary, but this brings out the best in people and allows for a very diverse interaction from fellow students. You get to learn about some unique perspectives, as your classmates are all over the country and all over the world!

    Make yourself heard - both to the school (admissions, financial aid) and within the course. Utilize all the resources available to you - and if you notice something missing, suggest it be added!

    I think the program and people at Walden are fantastic! The opportunity to meet and interact with both students and instructors at the residencies is phenomenal and the online community is supportive as well! I would highly recommend this school for anyone wanting to work online and receive their degree.

    The campus is on line so they are pretty safe. They work really hard to set-up a secure website so that students can access their accounts in safety.

    If you are a full time working parent that has no time to go to a campus then this is a good school for you. Other wise it is not the best if you need hands on communication with an instructor.

    It is a school that cares about the student and they do realize that you as a student can not afford pricey books. They recognize that the economy is under distress and are quite willing to offer budget friendly books that are great for any budget.

    The courses are actually hard but there are instructors that are willing to work with you, so long as you communicate with them and keep them aware of it.

    Try to keep ahead of assignments. If you keep ahead of assignments then you do not have to worry about a lot of points being deducted from your assignments.

    I think it is a good school that will work with you as long as you are willing to do the work. I have had teachers in my past that were unforgiving when it came to turning in asignments no matter what the circumstance. Teachers here understand that you have a life outside of school.

    walden sets very high standards. know what's expected of you.

    know your department chairs. know the chain of command. approach each situation as your own advocate while remaining calm. collected and respectful. ask lots of questions and get things in writing, especially with trends in education curricular changes. keep all syllabus for license purposes.

    as with any institution, walden has it's short comings. however, with the right approach you can be assured that the situation will be taken care of expeditiously. i have achieved my m.s. - psychology and currently writing my dissertation. effective personnel in most cases.

    Walden University is great for students who are committed to going to school and are able to budget their time effectively to meet all of their personal and academic goals.

    I researched online masters programs and this was the most cost effective program that included all the books and other materials shipped to me at no additional cost!

    I have found the online classes to be manageable but I did have to stay organized and not procrastinate. The classes are application based so there are no tests but you are asked to apply your new knowledge to an assignment every week. It is challenging but with commitment everyone can be successful.

    I would suggest that future students take the time to do the practice class to get a feel for what the actual classes entail because it is a true example of how to students attend class at Walden University.

    Set daily and weekly coursework completion deadlines, keep a detailed calendar, complete all work by the respective deadines, and contact your professors with questions...they are very helpful.

    I am very happy with the professors in my Ph. D. Health Psychology program. I am also pleased with challenging academic level of the courses and strongly endorse the 'scholar practitioners for social change' mission. It must be said that my phd health psychology program requires multiple weekly APA formatted, research-based assignments, projects and papers, which are surely more intensive than many brick-n-mortar APA accredited institutions.

    For prospective students I would advise them to use all of the resources necessary that Walden offers such as, tutoring , advising, library resources and so on. Most of all... become familiar with using your computer if you are considering taking online classes, it's a necessity.

    Tuition is worth the education provided. There is one perk in the psychology department that includes books in the tuition for the undergraduate program which does help to save on funds needed for the educational process.

    Make sure you know the cost and if you may need additional funding, if so Walden is not for you. I did my research but did not think about the need for additional funding.

    Accessing the class assignments are complicated and I feel it could done a much simpler way. The instructors challenge the students to think critically and express our thoughts without plagiarism and write with integrity. The Enrollment Adviser is supportive and accessible. It is very difficult to get private loans with Walden, which is not made known prior to enrolling and you don't think about it until you need it.

    I am online student but tips for students who attend class at the school are as follows: Carry your cell phone all the time. Do not walk alone in the dark. Walk in groups especially at night. People from other cities will show up to view the dance. Young girls and boys will invite their girl friends and boy friends for sleep over for 5 consecutive days.

    Judging from my undergraduate program -BSN, I figure this program will require even more study time. Researching on what it will take to succeed in graduate studies has helped to answer some of my questions. My understanding is that 5 credit units will require 10 - 15 hours of studies. Since I will be carrying 10 credit hours every quarter, I estimate about 20 - 30 or more hours of studying per week. I believe it is doable. I will make good use of time management. Avoiding procrastination and being motivated will help me to achieve my goal.

    You don't have to worry about buying books on your own. The school will send you the required books before the beginning of each semester. You also don't have to worry about your course registration because the school automatically registers the classes for you. Make sure your GPA is 3.0 or above to apply. Walden has awesome academic advisers who call almost every week to make sure they update you on what is going on and to make sure all your questions are answered. Make sure you have planner and external flash drive where you will save all your works before posting your papers to the discussion board.

    Walden university is the most affordable university compared to all other universities that I researched on. I like their course schedule and for me I have to carry 2 classes every quarter semester which is manageable with part time or full time job. Most other universities require you to have 2 years work experience before admission but for Walden, you can graduate from nursing school and be able to get admission right away for your graduate studies without having to work as a nurse first.

The cost of education is reasonable and affordable, and the university has tried to keep costs stable over the last few years due to the economic problems in the United States that would have prevented many prospective students from being able to go to college. You get an amazing library center with a ton of resources and services available, a writing tutorial center, and an excellent advising service with advisors specializing in the needs of your program. Walden is a well-known school and is rapidly increasing in international popularity, with students enrolling from all around the world!

    I am very happy with the academic rigor. The courses are very well designed, interesting and challenging. They are organized to properly and sequentially grade the student to build the necessary skills they need to gain from a particular course, to the degree that you know your stuff when you're done!
    Tips for prospective students

    Not all of the programs for licensures are accredited by umbrella organizations. For example, while the university is accredited by the Middle States College Association for accrediting colleges, the clinical psychology doctorate program I am in is not accredited by the American Psychological Association. You need to check with your state licensure requirements to ensure you will be able to apply for and receive licensure in your state when you graduate. Walden's program is very well designed and many have succesfully graduated and become licensed clincians, but this is something that you should keep in mind when applying.

    At $290 per credit hour (quarter based), it's the cheapest online university I have seen. Definitely a better bargain than Univ of Phoenix! With degrees in several areas and ranging from certificates to Ph.D's, I think it's a great deal.

    I would say that with anything in life, you get in what you put out. It's not Harvard, but a degree from Walden is not a walk in the park. They definitely are not a diploma mill, which is what a great deal of people mistake it for.

    Remember that going to an online college/university means that a lot of your decision needs to be based on your level of self motivation and discipline. For new high school grads, I would suggest the typical brick and mortar school in order to experience the college lifestyle and to ease yourself into the college experience.

    Walden has a broad variety of majors to choose from, with online Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees available. They have several accreditations, but check your field to make sure your field is included. There seems to be a great deal of essay writing, and most classes are 5 quarter-based credit hours. Each class lasts for six weeks and you are considered full-time if you take one class every six weeks. I would use caution however, in regards to their financial aid. While federal loans and grants are available, you are on your own in pursuing aid. Their financial aid dept is terrible with follow through or financial aid guidance. It's been two months since I filled out my FAFSA and took out my loans...I still don't have any financial aid.

    My biggest tip is to read read read EVERYTHING that's available to you on the student pages. Find groups on facebook with students that have similar interests as yours, its a big help. TALK TO YOUR ADVISORS, they are there to help you.

    Overall, I would rate the academic rigor as Moderate - but some courses were substantially more demanding requiring time spent doing research and projects as well as producing a thoughtful final paper.

    Be realistic about your work load. Taking two classes - with responsibilities to post in discussion groups each week, complete class reading and video reviews, write a one page papers and work on a final paper for each class was challenging while still working full time

    Students who have to work full-time and need a flexible schedule. Almost all courses follow the same assignment submission date, so once you are adjusted to the schedule the consistency between semesters helps manage all aspects of life.

    Walden University is very dedicated to teaching students about multiculturalism and how to promote social change. The teachers are great and understanding. I enjoy learning about my field of study, mental health counseling.
