Great for these types of students	Wayne State offers plenty of programs for anyone. Not only do they provide courses but free tutoring services. We also have a 24 hr library in which students can access computers and be able to study more efficiently. Even if students may consider there selves to be individual learners, Wayne also provides individual tutors at no cost.
Tips for prospective students	I encourage anyone who plans to attend any college to stay focused because not only will college life be a task but if u intend to live on campus, you will face many distractions. Such as peer pressure, partying, and not studying as often as you should.

Tips for prospective students	Be smart about what you do. Walking alone at night where the police don't patrol is a big no-no. Just use your common sense about what's safe and what isn't, and you'll be fine. Wayne State is actually really safe, as it has its own police force, and most of its crime rates are lower than other big Michigan colleges.
Bang for the buck	This is probably one of the best prices you can get for a really good education. Forget MSU and U of M, they charge way too much. You can get just as good of an education at Wayne State, but for half the cost.
Am enjoying being here	The environment is laid back, but not lethargic. People are fairly friendly, and the campus looks really nice.
Am learning a lot	Most of my instructors are really good, and the ESP (Emerging Scholars Program) for math is phenomenal. It's a lot of work, but the extra hands on help and feedback really help you understand the math

Great for these types of students	I would recommend Wayne State University for any student. If you enjoy the campus feel and a university setting this is a great school for you.
Tips for prospective students	While in high school prepare yourself by taking harder classes that will provide you with an advantage in college. Don't depend solely on your teacher's, take the initiative to find learning/studying methods that are influential to you.
Bang for the buck	Wayne State University may be more expensive as compared to a community college but Wayne State is an accredited University that allows many students scholarship and financial aid opportunities.
Am enjoying being here	I feel that I made the right choice when choosing Wayne State University as my college. I have met many people, learned a lot and experienced the freedoms and responsibilities of being a college student.
Am learning a lot	As a student, it is your responsibility to take full advantage of your education. Wayne State University is a great University that provides you with the tools to succeed. I just finished my first semester with a 3.89. I have learned a lot from my professors and have taken full advantage of the resources available at Wayne State.

Great for these types of students	Students pursuing degrees in liberal arts or education, students who enjoy college life in an urban setting (Wayne State is located in downtown Detroit), students who are open to diversity in setting, learning environment, and faculty and peers.
Tips for prospective students	Don't be turned off by the fact that it's in Detroit... Wayne State has its own police force that's patrolling the campus ALL the time. I've seen police officers wandering around by car, segway, and foot at all times of the day. Despite the bad reputation Detroit has received, Midtown (where the campus is located) is clean, well-trafficked, and filled with awesome places to shop, hang out, and eat. If you're commuting I would advise you get a premium parking pass because during the winter it'll be brutal walking three or more blocks between classes. Premium parking costs more, but is closer to the center of campus.
Bang for the buck	Compared to other top universities in Michigan, Wayne State is a bargain for the quality... in-state students will pay about 8,600 a year (for around 15 credits) in tuition, compared to about 12,000 from University of Michigan and Michigan State. Yes, both of these schools are more prestigious than Wayne and if you are pursuing a career in Medicine or Law and have a choice between the three, Wayne would probably be a second or third choice. For everyone else, though, you're basically just paying extra for the name on your degree. Wayne is constantly undergoing renovations and upgrades, so it's not like you're sacrificing education for savings.
Am enjoying being here	Though over 40,000 students are enrolled here, there's a very close knit feeling around the main campus. There are students everywhere you look - sitting on the grass, cruising by on skateboards, hanging out in front of the buildings smoking (not too keen on all the secondhand smoke - there are A LOT of smokers, but I digress)... throw a rock anywhere and you'll hit someone, though I would advise against it. People are friendly and always open to chat, and the professors are enthusiastic about their jobs and delightfully informal. My only complaint is that there isn't enough meet-and-greet activities at the beginning of the school year to better orient freshman and transfers who don't know anyone or who are too introverted to take the initiative themselves.
Am learning a lot	I love the diversity in the people, lectures, and classes... I've only been here a month and I already feel so much more cultured. The general education requirements cover a wide range that ensures all students get a well balanced education and a larger perspective.

Great for these types of students	This school is great for all types of students because if you are not quite ready for the courses or feel uncomfortable with a course, there are tutors and an academic center to help.
Tips for prospective students	Study. Study. Study. Always stay on top of your work and you should do very well. The courses are not like high school where you can finish an assignment right before class. Also, go to class. Do not skip!
Bang for the buck	Definitely worth the money to attend.
Am enjoying being here	I enjoy being here. I have gained a few friends that I can honestly say are going to be in my life for a while. Also, I have formed a relationship with some professors that have seen my talent and hardworking skills.
Am learning a lot	Wayne State University is not given the credit it deserves. It is a wonderful school because the course are quite challenging, which is amazing because working hard for something is 10 times better than breezing through something and not feeling that your hard work paid off.

Great for these types of students	Every kind of student would enjoy their time here. Especially students who are willing to work hard for their education and willing to change for the better.
Tips for prospective students	Meet and befriend as many people as you possibly can. Especially your professors and counselors. They can only help you and you could end up helping someone in the end. Study one hour for every hour you spend in lecture. Take advantage of every single facility the university has to offer and take away as much as you possibly can. It will help make an incredible resume for your future.
Bang for the buck	As mentioned previously, the university offers so many venues to learn and expand socially. There is always someone willing to help from questions in class to help with the financial aid office. Students gain a very valuable education as well as a good reputation from being a Wayne State Warrior.
Am enjoying being here	Students and faculty at the university are extremely welcoming. In my personal experience, I went through Formal Fall Recruitment for the four Panhellenic sororities offered on campus. Through the greek system, I've gained great friends and social connections along with incredible help with studying and homework. There is also an infinite amount of sports programs (including intramural) and other student organizations that help the students expand their horizons socially and professionally.
Am learning a lot	In addition to incredible professors with office hours, this university offers lab classes, counseling, SI sessions (which act as a free tutoring option to further explain material covered in class and review for exams and quizzes), as well as many on-line venues to seek help. You not only learn about the material covered in class but you are also taught to study more efficiently and work better with groups of people.

Tips for prospective students	Apply for financial aidx early and make sure you have all your ducks in a row to cute down on stress. Get involved on campus and make Wayne State University your own. GO WARRIORS!
Bang for the buck	You wont find a better education in Michigan for the price especially not for a top notch research university.
Am enjoying being here	It is amazing the teachers are great the campus is amazing there is so many cultural centers and fun things to do on and off campus.
Am learning a lot	I am learning so much, not just from the books and the amazing professors but also from the diverse student community.

Campus Safety	the campus is a pretty safe place to be. there is always someone you can go to for help who is near by and close. it's rare that you hear something of an disturbance on campus.
What to do for fun	on campus, you have something like a rec. center, it's in the middle of the campus. there you pool tables, a nice area to hang out with friends and the music they play is pretty cool. wayne state has their own gym which is very nice as far as the design as well has the staff. there is a bowling ally not to far from the university and not to mention all the festivities, wayne state always has something fun to do.
Food and Dining	the food on campus and also around campus is amazing. there is such a large selection to choose from it's hard for a person not to find something they like. it is also convenient that all the dine in places are walkable distances from the campus.
Dorm Life	the dorms are very comfortable and a nice space to study. lots of sunlight also which is very refreshing.
Academic Rigor	mostly what i've heard from friends is that the school is challenging yet fair. every teacher takes his or her work seriously and does what is best for the student as much as possible academic wise.
Tips for prospective students	make sure you check out the entire campus. don't be shy to interact with the current students as well as the professors, you will get a better feel of the school. be sure to go in some of the places to eat also, there are many of them in the area.
In three sentences	the campus is very calm and productive. the students that attend wayne state university have a work ethic presence that you can see just by by being there. the school as a whole is a great university.

Tips for prospective students	Just stay focused, Wayne State is a university and it has high standards so just keep focused and have fun when you can. Also talk to people in the department that you are getting into. In the end just relax, stay focused, and have some fun.

Great for these types of students	Wayne State University is a school institution to attend if you are looking to go into the science fields such as medicine and nursing; as well as social work. Within the past three years I have been a student at the school they have been improving campus life, renovating as well as increasing their rank nationally.
Tips for prospective students	Do not be afraid to seek help. Having friends and a support system is extremely important when pursuing a degree. There will be times when you will get angry, fail, feel alone and question yourself and your dreams; just remember seek help and do not let things get bottled up and you will be fine.
Bang for the buck	I am an engineering major and WSU is not highly known for that area as well as other schools such as Kettering or University of Michigan. When picking a college pick a school that will allow you to push the name on your resume.
Am enjoying being here	I really enjoy Wayne State like any other person enjoys college. I have met so many wonderful people since being here. Joining organizations can assist in enjoying your college years. Like anyone else, sometimes I get frustrated at some classes workloads etc but I could not see myself being as successful and happy somewhere else.
Am learning a lot	After entering college, I quickly learned that there is no one to force you to anything....even learn. It is quite possible for you to learn a lot while in school but it is complete up to yourself. Since entering Wayne State I can truly say I have learned a lot. There are many programs, learning communities and staff designated to your learning and success you just have to be willing to seek it.

Tips for prospective students	If you're commuting you're going to be spending a lot of time in the library so be sure you have something with you to entertain yourself.
Bang for the buck	Its a pretty snazzy school but they could improve the bathrooms
Am enjoying being here	I love how there is such a variety in class size so you can find what is perfect for you. My classes varied from 500 students to only 13 students. It all just depends on what you want to take.
Am learning a lot	It kind of blows my mind everything I have learned in 1 short year at Wayne State University

Tips for prospective students	Make sure that you study the bulletin when you get it. Sometimes academic advisers may not always know the best courses for you to take. It is really up to you to decide what path to choose. I also recommend moving down to midtown as you will met lots of new people and make friends.
Bang for the buck	I am getting a great education. Wayne State has made getting grants fairly simple and I have been able to get assistance when I needed it. Of course tuition will always be a problem but I feel I am getting a good education for what I am paying.
Am enjoying being here	I absolutely LOVE Wayne State. Detroit is a really great city despite what others say. Many new kids move down to midtown every school year and I can definitely say that Wayne State is leaving it's mark on the map.
Am learning a lot	Many teachers that I have come across have taught at other institutions including the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. This was very interesting to me and I felt like a bargain hunter as I was getting the same education as someone who took a class with this professor at Michigan most prestigious University.

Great for these types of students	Wayne State University is not just great for one specific type of students but its for all types of students and its a multi-cultural and diversed university. If you are someone who likes to have fun, and meet new people from around the US and the world, then its the right place for you. A diverse student body with students from 49 states and more than 70 countries. This is what makes Wayne State.
Tips for prospective students	If you really want to learn, have fun, meet new people then you should come to wayne. But make sure you are ready to work hard and study hard beacuse the professors will want to challenge all students.
Bang for the buck	Wayne State is a pretty good university compared to the tuition rates of other colleges/univerties. Yes, its a little expensive but its worth the money because of great professors that are in WSU. and the people around wayne state. Compared to MSU or U of M, Wayne State's cost is really good, especially when you are getting the same classes and getting taught the same stuff.
Am enjoying being here	Wayne State University is a really nice place to do your studies on. Its on the midtown of detroit, where you can explore so many great things like the science center, cobo hall and others. Wayne State faculties and students are really nice and there are so many things you can join and meet a lot of new friends. Wayne State so many dhorms and restaurents within the campus for students to take advantgae of.
Am learning a lot	I am learning a lot of stuff in WSU. So far i took about 6 classes and my professors have been great. Professors will work beyond to hep you get good grades and learn the material.

Great for these types of students	It's a smaller campus in comparison to these other schools. You might see some of the same faces after a while. Some people like small campuses so this can be a plus. It is easy to walk everywhere because everything is fairly close. The campus is near downtown Detroit where something is always happening. I have a car, so I liked to go to places like the Riverwalk or Greektown. This campus is great for those who like an urban city environment with a small campus touch.
Tips for prospective students	The campus pretty safe. There are blue light emergency phones all over the campus in case you feel in danger. The Wayne State police dept. constantly patrols the area as well. With that being said, still have reasonable judgement. With Wayne State being an open campus more people are allowed on our grounds. Use your good judgement. If you don't walk around your neighborhood at 3 am alone, then you don't walk around your school's campus at 3 am alone.
Bang for the buck	Wayne State has some of the lowest tuition rates in the state. You will spend about 7-8,000 a year for tuition. U of M tuition is about double that for the year. Housing at Wayne State is about 3,000 a semester for me staying in an apartment. It's more than that for a basic dorm at U of M or Michigan State.
Am enjoying being here	I lived on campus in DeRoy apartments in the Winter of 2011. I liked being able to go to class and have time to go back to my apartment in between classes. Most people commute to Wayne, but I personally like living there. The campus dorms require you to have a meal plan. If you live in the campus apartments, then meal plans are optional. I choose to make my own food, but having the option is nice.
Am learning a lot	I have only been at Wayne State a semester, but I enjoyed it. All my teachers were very helpful. Some classes can be a bit difficult, but with a little hard work and S.I. (supplemental instruction) sessions, you should be okay.

Great for these types of students	Smart, committed, serendipitous, strong, hard-working, and intrigued.
Tips for prospective students	Don't give up on the dream you want within the college. WSU isn't exactly a walk in the park so stick with the strong objectives lined within the curriculum and within your personal life.
Bang for the buck	Tuition is at a great price for university classes. I save a ton of money by commuting instead of using a dorm. You can generally find something good to eat if you venture out & try different things.
Am enjoying being here	Commuting to school is hard but a fifteen minute drive is not that harsh. Wayne State is generally clean and there is always somewhere to sit.
Am learning a lot	The ABET College of Engineering is Fantastic. With many focused students and faculty, anyone should succeed in his/her studies found in the facility. Each class is specifically targets something core within the subject of engineering. With so many options and standards, any student can specialize in a field of engineering

Great for these types of students	The sheer population of the school offers a variety of students from all backgrounds makes it easy to find whoever your looking for when it comes to friends.
What to do for fun	all types of events and groups from many genres can be found at on campus coffee shops. They seem to all converge there for one reason or another.
Food and Dining	In the main building there are several fast food restaurants however I prefer eating at the nearby subway/pizza shops.
Academic Rigor	The introductory classes seemed to be designed to be just hard enough to keep you on your toes and applying effort to them.
Tips for prospective students	I would recommend first day students to take their first day to explore areas on campus they find interesting and see themselves spending time at.
In three sentences	Wayne state has turned out to be a great opportunity for me and has opened doors in several areas of life. Not only do they offer great curriculum and teachers, the student connections there are potentially limitless. I would recommend Wayne state campus life to anyone in the Detroit area committed to learning and developing there self for the future.

Campus Safety	Wayne State police can be anywhere on campus in three minutes. You see them around but not to a degree that you think campus in unsafe. There are blue phones around campus if there is ever an emergency.
Greek Life	There is Greek life, no sorority houses though. My roommate really loves her sisters and is having a great time in her sorority.
Clubs and Activities	There are too many clubs to count-- you just have to make sure you get information on meetings which is in the student center. There are tables during orientation and such that have representatives from the different clubs during the first week as well!
Great for these types of students	Wayne isn't a big party school, but there is a little bit of everything for anyone. A lot of people like to just hang out in the library even if studying isn't on the top of their agenda.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	If something is going on, it's usually in the basement of the student center.
Bang for the buck	The education is great-- I've been having a lot of fun in my classes. Campus life is fun-- it's definitely a different experience.
What to do for fun	Wednesday nights always have something fun to do on campus like making bracelets and spin art. Thursday nights give options to do something in Detroit with free shuttles like sports games and concerts. There are a lot of options of things to do-- and there are always video games and pool in the Student Center.
Food and Dining	Sometimes they have really great nights in the cafeteria, sometimes it's the same old, same old. There are a lot of fast food options around campus-- Jimmy John's and Salad 101 being some of the healthier options.
Dorm Life	There's the Greek life aspect and there are the people that are just hanging out in the dorms. Depending on what you're looking for, you should be able to find it here.
Academic Rigor	Classes like Greek Mythology are so interesting it would be hard to get a bad grade, but other classes and some of the lectures are so lengthy it's hard to pay attention--which can affect your grades.
Tips for prospective students	Talk to people! You can find friends anywhere if you start a conversation.
In three sentences	Everyone is friendly. The professors are fantastic. There is always something to do during the evening on campus.

Campus Safety	Rated the safest campus in Michigan. For being located in Detroit, you'd be surprised as to how much of a lack of crime there is. There are so many cop cars that just roll through the middle of campus it's insane. Never have I felt unsafe walking from point A to point B.
Greek Life	Greek Life is pretty prevalent on campus. There are only 2 or 3 main fraternities and about 4 sororities that you see on campus, but from what I hear, Greek Life here is great if you're into that kind of thing.
Clubs and Activities	Wayne has every recreation sport imaginable, over 200 clubs, and countless activities every day. You'd have to live under a rock to say there's no way to get involved.
Great for these types of students	Proactive, city-loving students
Bang for the buck	Wouldn't want to be anywhere else. For the price I paid for my dorms and tuition, this is an extremely dense University.
What to do for fun	There's never a dull moment at Wayne. Whenever you feel like playing pool or ping pong, eating, working out, quidditch, or anything else, you have it at your disposal on campus.
Food and Dining	Fantastic food. People always like to complain about cafeteria food at colleges, but this food defies that. Every day, there are so many options that you can't really complain.
Dorm Life	Honestly, the dorms are one of the best parts of being here. I live in a three-person room with a private bathroom. I think that WSU's dorms were rated the best in Michigan last year as well.
Academic Rigor	It's a University for a reason--this school is no joke. Each of the professors knows their subject matter and will test you to the edge of your brain's limits. Make sure to ask for help though, as all professors want their students to succeed.
Tips for prospective students	If you're used to procrastinating, get out of that habit. Professors here do not mess around; if you show that you can get things done beforehand, it will be a huge benefit. Also, make sure you get a planner and plan out each of your weeks.
In three sentences	Wayne State University brings the entire package that you'd expect from a big college. I've definitely had some of the most challenging times of my life here despite being here for only a semester so far, but I've also had some of the best times. Staff, teachers, and fellow students alike are all genuinely amazing to be around at this urban research University.

Great for these types of students	The best thing about Wayne State in my opinion is that it is really for everybody. We have such a diverse campus and student body. You will see someone racing by on a skateboard one second, and then a med student walking by the next. There are also a great deal of non-traditional students here. While some people might find this strange, I see it as an advantage and a learning opportunity. There are many different types of students, but they all seem to blend and work together to create a truly unique campus.
Tips for prospective students	Get to know the city. If you aren't familiar with urban areas it may seem intimidating. Campus isn't that large, and it is easy to get around. What really makes Wayne State unique is the surrounding area. Be involved and open minded.
Bang for the buck	Despite recent increases in tuition, I still maintain the belief that Wayne State is one of the more reasonable educations. They also have many scholarships that are attainable to students.
Am enjoying being here	Detroit is such a great city. With all the bad press we get, people focus in on the negative aspects. I can't think of a better place to be educated. There are so many opportunities in the city. It is the real world and not just another college town. The urban location is unique yet conducive to learning. We learn life skills and street smartswhile perfecting our individual crafts and formal education.
Am learning a lot	I am a music major at Wayne State. I have never once doubted the material being taught or the professor teaching it. I have learned so much in just a short period of time. I feel like many people don't understand what a great school Wayne State is. I know so many brilliant people here in many different majors. It always seems like everyone is learning and growing. I am very grateful that I chose Wayne for my education.

Campus Safety	police patrol the campus at all times to ensure the student's safety. they are very quick to respond and neutralize a situation when it occurs, though it is rare.
Bang for the buck	it seems like a lot of money to pay to go to college (and it is) but in the end, it will be the best money you'll ever spend.
What to do for fun	look for groups to join. there are at least a hundred of them.
Food and Dining	there are several areas for food and dining and they aren't just located in one place. wayne state university has a mcdonald's, a kfc, a taco bell, and a subway on its campus, and that is only among many other restaurants.
Dorm Life	i only give it four stars because i don't actually live on dorm. from what i've heard, dorm life is pretty awesome. the rooms (at least the cheapest ones for undergrad students) are small though....
Academic Rigor	the teachers know what they are teaching. academically, wayne state is just as good as michigan state and university of michigan.
Tips for prospective students	although there are many extra-curicular activities to get into and the environment is fun and invigorating, do not forget that you need to study. in my experience, devoting a lot of time to each of your classes will help you in the long run. speaking of classes, don't overwhelm yourself trying to be an 18 credit-a-semester student. you need to pace yourself. the best way to tackle this school is to take a couple of challenging classes and balance it out with one or two easier ones.

What to do for fun	the fitness center offers many fun classes like zumba, hip hop, and the university always has many activities happening in mid town the heart of wsu. there is always something to do.

Dorm Life	i do not stay in a dorm but i hear that it is great when it comes to being close to campus.
Academic Rigor	academically wsu is a challenge but it is all about managing your time correctly and efficiently. if you can juggle that with your everyday life it will be fine.
Tips for prospective students	definitely use your time wisely because before you know it you have many assignments to catch up on. always become familiar with your professors office hours and don't be afraid to approach them. keeping a semester calendar with all major assignments due is a great help.

Tips for prospective students	Be prepared for the ups and downs of classroom hustle. Meaning you can map out your schedule one way and then Wayne can make a change. Always have optional classes ready to take just in case. This will save you on time and frustration.

Campus Safety	One of the largest things that people look for in their campus and one of the largest things that would surprise people about Wayne State University are their Safety systems. Our WSU Police Department was formed in 1966 and each officer is fully licensed through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards And they are seen all over campus and in the surrounding areas in patrol cars, on bikes, on foot and with K-9 units. Along with that, the students becoming Police Officers at Wayne State also patrol the entire campus and through every building in uniform providing an extra watch. Our parking structures especially, are fully protected by surveillance and guards. And access to almost every location requires a photo ID WSU card where each one has only a specific security level, with fewer being able to get into some buildings based on necessity like dorms, and fewer still for areas where valuables are stored like each dorm room or offices or music and art rooms. Beyond that, we employ a blue light system with individual telefone devices with a blue flashing light on top that turn on with the simple press of a button from anyone in trouble on campus. There are over 300 units and it is guaranteed that a WSU Police Officer can be at any location in under 90 seconds. Additionally, our WSU P.O. Headquarters can be contacted on or just off campus so that you can be escorted by an officer to where you are going, like a parking structure later at night.
Greek Life	Throughout the year, students can connect to the Sororities and Fraternities of Wayne State University, becoming a part of them or simply joining them in their reach out programs in the communities or other programs and activities they hold. There are about twenty different groups where each is known by their goals, and many are known for their Step Shows and other competitions between each other held in one of our main performance theaters.
Clubs and Activities	There is an enormous range of groups at Wayne State University, where students come together to play organized sports or sports just for fun, where they come together to talk about the things that they enjoy in their major where they connect to the community and the surrounding businesses to learn more about what they want to do in their life, or where they come together to tutor each other. A few of the groups at Wayne State University include our Quidditch teams, our many types of book clubs, our choir groups, our sororities and fraternities, our Marching Band with Dance and Color Guard, our art groups, our Pre-Med groups and Pre-Law groups, and journalist and writing groups with our writing for our news paper The South End.
Great for these types of students	Wayne State University is great for almost any student. The University accepts so many people, allowing them to come from so many different backgrounds to have a chance to change their life for the better. But it also caters to those who have a large drive to go far in the world. The well rounded education and individual care from the professors can help you to go many places including some very prestigious graduate schools. However, some of the graduate and undergraduate programs here are so well built, taught, and known that they would surprise many. Wayne State University is a hidden gem filled with students and professors working in community programs and doing prominent research in the world, building their character, knowledge, and drive to do something amazing in the world. The campus is so diverse in nationality, religion, interests, and specialties, that it could fit any student.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	At Wayne State University, there are a few fun things that you can become accustomed to like the large rock in the center of campus where different groups spray paint their advertisement on them. Many of the groups that advertise their events are the sororities and fraternities, but some of the other events come from the groups of students from different majors of different interests. On campus, there are also a few hang-outs like on the second floor of the Undergraduate Library or the Student Center. Another thing that WSU is known for providing are the events where students can be shuttled on our own bus system to different cultural areas of Detroit where they can learn different types of dances, eat at a new restaurant, walk around the open fresh food market, attend a professional sports game, hear a Tchaikovsky concert from a full orchestra, or attend a concert from someone like Bruno Mars who performed on campus in 2011.
Bang for the buck	The costs at Wayne State University are closer to those of a community college, but the education provided here, especially in their specified programs like the Medical and Law ones, rival some of the best Universities in the country. Additionally the Financial Aid office and the different offices for each Major are quite proactive with providing their students with scholarship and Work Study information.
What to do for fun	During the winter, collections of people congregate outside to start snowball wars where anyone can just walk in and join or spend time in the recreation centers or in the Student Center for recent movie releases played on large flat screens for free. And during the fall and summer, the volley ball courts between many of the dorms and apartments and open grass areas are used for spontaneous games of soccer, volleyball, football, lacrosse, and Frisbee. Students can also support their friends by attending the games for different sports. Beyond that there are connections with the surrounding locations such as the Detroit Historical Museum, the Detroit Public Library, the Detroit Science Center, the Detroit Institute of Arts Museum, and the Detroit Film Theater, where on some days you can use your student card to get in for free or at a discount. Another gem just off campus is the Detroit Greek Town filled with professional sports arenas where Wayne State students sometimes get discounts for the games, theaters like the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and also wonderful places on the river or at the Motor City Casino.
Food and Dining	At Wayne State University, there are buffet style cafes for those who live on campus with meal plans. But beyond that there is a multitude of different restaurants, coffee shops, and fast food places. They include some known brands such as Starbucks, Einstein Bagels, Subway, Jimmy Johns, McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut, along with some rather unknown places such as Salad 101, La-Pita Mediterranean, Delilah's Cafe, and Freshens. Additionally, there are numerous places on the edge of campus with places ranging from sit down restaurants to the take out Chinese and pizza locations. Also, if you are on campus late at night there is an Underground Grill open from 9pm to 2am in the center of campus where the pool tables and video game competitions around the Grill are always filled with great people.
Dorm Life	Living on campus at Wayne State University is a wonderful experience with easy access to buffet style cafes and food court settings, multiple areas for recreation including an extensive gym in the center of campus, and numerous libraries for different kinds of individual and group studies. The University provides many options for dorms and apartments on campus where students can choose to live by themselves, with friends, or go in blind and meet new people. There are many different styles of buildings and each has different selections for room set-ups to choose from. Also, on the perimeter of campus there are many apartment buildings and neighborhoods that are known for housing WSU students. However, one of the biggest perks of living in a dorm are the full bathrooms in each of the spacious dorms, and the different laundry, kitchen, lounge, study, and work out areas on each floor.
Academic Rigor	Many of the General Education classes containing a basic overview of the subject generally range from easy to moderate in difficulty. But once you begin to take classes for your major, the classes pick up in difficulty with a thorough scope of the ideas discussed. Although they take some work, it is easy to see that the courses actually prepare you for potential jobs and employers. Furthermore, the Medical and Law programs within Wayne State University are quite intensive and the school itself along with the professors of the classes have wonderful connections to the outside working world. Additionally, those courses are part of the reason why the programs are so prominent in the community and the world.
Tips for prospective students	Do not let the location of the school deter you from visiting or making Wayne State University an option for your education. The on-campus housing and commuting accommodations along with the endless list of groups, sports, and activities fit the needs of any student. And one of the many things that most people don't know is that the Medical and Law programs rival those of some of best colleges in the country where Professors, immersed in their own programs and research from around the world, come to teach at Wayne State University. Here the graduation percentage rates are lower than many other schools because the standards to get into the main school are low, accepting many people. But what you have to keep in mind is that if you want to graduate, it takes effort. Wayne State University accepts many students, some of whom lose focus, but it is the loss of those students because if you put in the effort, a degree from Wayne State will rocket you into the world. Because of this, it doesn't matter very much where you come from or your previous education because WSU gives you the opportunity to go as far as you want. And if you desire to go far, it may take more work with the higher you go, but you can find peace in knowing that you can make something of yourself with an education from Wayne State University.

Bang for the buck	Most affordable tuition in the state for a fully accredited college.
What to do for fun	There are plenty of clubs, a Dream Center, a cultural center, downtown is two miles away, plenty of restaurants, and a host of private events. Just look and you will find more than you have time to do. Just start at the DOSO office in the Student Center Building on the third floor and move on out here. Go to the U Club in the basement, where there is all sorts of events offered for students. Work out at the Mott Harris, see our championship football team, swim team, or go one of thousands of other campus events.
Food and Dining	We have fast food, pizza places, sandwiches, and party stores. We also have three local breweries, whole foods, international food establishments, and restaurants featured on the Food Network. I can think of at least 15 restaurants most students do not know about that will meet all of your needs.
Dorm Life	I live in a campus apartment which has upper floor dorms . The school invests heavily in social programs for students. However, many students do not search for the many offerings by the school. You will find that new high school graduates gravitate toward the fraternities and sororities. I again ask for people to search many sources before building their college routines.
Academic Rigor	Many of the core academic programs have been scaled down to help students pass. However, the core programs will challenge students in all of the over 180 programs offered.
Tips for prospective students	Participate in homecoming week. Meet with student clubs. Participate in Mondays at the Max and Thursdays in the D. There are so many opportunities that students can take advantage of. Littered around campus are high quality restaurants as well as hang out spots. You will participate in fashion show s, boutique festivals, winter-fests, free local concerts, and many other events. Besides, there are over a dozen coffee shops around campus. This is the busiest area in the city of Detroit.

Campus Safety	WSU is protected by the WSU Police Department, separate from the Detroit Police Department, with a response time ranging from 40 seconds to two minutes. You cannot walk a hundred feet without seeing an officer walking, riding a bike/segway, or driving. If you feel uneasy walking anywhere on campus at any time, you can give them a call and they will watch you walk to your destination to ensure your safety.
What to do for fun	The Detroit Institute of Arts, Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Detroit Historical Museum are a few of the fun museums around. Right across the Detroit river and down the street are countless casinos including Caesars Windsor (Canada, 19+) and Motor City Casino (USA, 21+). Right in Detroit we have Comerica Park, home of the Tigers, Ford Field, home of the Lions, and the Joe Louis Arena, home of the Redwings.
Food and Dining	There are all sorts of great restaurants and bars in walking distance. Ranging from the informal cafe and bar there are very nice sit-down restaurants. My favorites are the cool little coffee houses [my favorite is Thistle Cafe - free wifi].
Dorm Life	WSU has a lot of dorms and even more apartments adjacent to it. However, most students commute each day. If possible, get the parking pass [it's cheaper].
Academic Rigor	Wayne State is known for being a science institution. If you are taking any science courses, they will be extremely difficult. Social sciences, arts, etc. are engaging, but not as tough as STEM classes.
Tips for prospective students	The veggie burgers served in Ghafari are actually really good. If you have the chance, live on campus. If you drive to school, watch where you park; my car has been hit in the structures a few times.
In three sentences	Wayne State University is a safe and affordable 4 year institution in Midtown Detroit, Michigan. The instructors are mostly welcoming to questions and concerns you may have as a student. However, it is a small university, so they're not too big on student events.

Campus Safety	Even though there are police and safety officials that do their job there are times where I still feel uncomfortable walking alone on campus. It's always best to have someone with you as you are walking from location to location. This should always be practiced around the evenings.
What to do for fun	Join organizations and make new friends would be a first step. Also, just walking around with you friends and taking pictures of nature is another good one! There are some really nice buildings that give the campus a nice touch.
Food and Dining	The student center has food stores like Subway, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, La Pita, and Byblos....There are new food stores opening up that cater to those who prefer an Indian cuisine.
Dorm Life	I can't say anything about this part of WSU since I am a commuter. My rating is based on things I've heard from friends.
Academic Rigor	The science courses offered here are very challenging. Prepare yourself before taking any course.

What to do for fun	School intramurals, student groups, concerts (we had Wiz Khalifa, NERD perform), and downtown Detroit!
Food and Dining	The food during the week was great. All you can eat style buffet. The only negative was the lack of selection and quality on the weekends.
Dorm Life	They have a decent amount of living space, your own bathroom, and heating/AC. Many schools do not offer offer even one of these. Wayne State has all three!
Academic Rigor	I took the health sciences route, so I took many sciences classes. They definitely prepare you for the entrance exams you have to take for the programs. There are 3 hospitals on the medical campus, so for you health care people, this is a good location to get your foot in the door.
Tips for prospective students	Live downtown. Participate in the activities held by the fitness center. Join student groups. Lots of opportunities to volunteer.
In three sentences	I do not regret going to this school. I enjoyed living on campus, forming great relationships with students and faculty, and having the opportunity to go to downtown Detroit whenever I wanted.

Campus Safety	It's like with any other university - there's going to be thefts and whatnot, but the campus police are always patrolling not just immediately around campus but off it by a bit too. And you can always call them to walk you to your car at night to make sure you'll be fine.
Greek Life	I'm not personally part of a sorority/fraternity but they seem to have a lot of fun..
Clubs and Activities	There are A LOT of student organizations on campus, and it's easy to get involved and be an active member of any of them. Just start going to a meeting, participate in serious and fun activities, be a board member, it's all easily doable. Just go for it!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	The mascot is a green barney... Not sure how they came up with that, it's a mystery to anybody you ask.
Bang for the buck	They keep raising the tuition.. I know the economy is bad, but not just for the university, but for students as well. It's getting harder and harder to pay and it doesn't feel like it's worth it. At all. There are so many classes where you can see that the profs are there just because it's part of the job but they actually want to do their research and so you don't get the best learning experience you should from all that money you're paying towards your education.
What to do for fun	The student center has an area dedicated for fun activities in the basement. I haven't been down there for a very long time though, so unfortunately I cannot tell you what's there.
Food and Dining	There are quite a few places to eat on or around campus, but you do get bored of the food after a while, despite the variety. There's Jimmy Johns, Starbucks, Einsteins, Tim Hortons, Campus Diner, Byblos, Blimpies, La Pita, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Subway, Taco Bell, KFC (these are directly on campus). If you leave campus and go to the downtown area of even just go to a Dearborn (mere 10 mins away) you get a lot more variety.
Dorm Life	I can't actually provide an accurate assessment of dorm life because I never lived on campus, but I hear it's nice.
Academic Rigor	ESP is probably the best program in 'academic rigor' at Wayne where all the profs involved truly care about their students.
Tips for prospective students	If you're taking a math class, participate in ESP (Emerging Scholars Program) which is DEDICATED to making sure their students learn the material and do great in their math classes - even those who are horrible or terrified of math come out having learned the material and gaining a great support network!
In three sentences	They definitely have great events for enticing new students to the University by providing welcoming events and activities for them to participate it. It makes it all very exciting and helps decrease some stress or anxiety one might feel about attending a new university. Campus Safety	While Detroit does have a high crime rate, on campus the two biggest things you need to worry about are car theft and larceny. Well larceny is pretty easy to prevent, just don't leave your stuff lying around, that is how the vast majority of those crimes are committed. Which you should be doing in any city you go to suburbs or big city. Just common sense. Car theft can be deterred and campus police are some of the best I've ever seen, especially with prevention. They sell extremely cheap Clubs, they do free VIN etching on windows, and besides patrolling they also give out reports and tell you exactly how many crimes occur, what types they are, and in the case of car theft even the vehicle type and area where the theft occurred. There are emergency blue lights all around campus, and most of campus is very well lit. They also have something called Safewalk which is when you need to walk somewhere and you don't feel safe you call this number anytime and they will escort you to wherever it is you need to go. I have never felt unsafe on campus.
Greek Life	Some of my friends were in sororities and fraternities and they loved it; they made some of their closest friends during Greek life. There are also many different types of sororities; while volunteering for Habitat for Humanity I met some girls who were doing a build for their sorority. Their sorority was volunteer based and they did things like that at least every month.
Clubs and Activities	There are so different kinds of clubs and activities that even if I was on a mission to join and participate in every one of them, it would take me another 4 years. The Clubs I have been in are Democracy Matters, Habitat for Humanity- WSU Chapter, ArtCorps Detroit, and I've been to other clubs' events and fairs. There is something for everyone, especially if you want to volunteer or expand your cultural horizons. We have a lot of amazing international exchange students and you can learn a lot about another culture from the local source while still staying in the U.S.
Great for these types of students	Intelligent, not afraid of challenge, science majors pre-med are especially popular, journalism students: our Journalism program is amazing! Maybe most important, a person who is willing to open their mind to other cultures and peoples. This is not a small, sleepy, homogeneous town. You will meet and become friends with someone you would not have met back home.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	There is a place between two very large buildings, one apartments the other dorms, that makes a funnel effect with the wind. It's called the Wind Tunnel and when the weather nice it is not hard to get a kite up in the air.
Bang for the buck	For me, it is great, my professors are very attentive, I have never had a professor at WSU that I would say is coasting. The class sizes are very reasonable sometimes bordering on small and I've never had a problem with being ignored. Whenever I needed help I always got it.
What to do for fun	WSU is in the heart of Detroit so there is no limit. Art: the Detroit Institute of Arts is a 5 minute walk from campus and students with ID get in free on Fridays. The art that WSU students and faculty show are all around campus. The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit is 5 minutes away, and CCS campus is about 10-15. Sports: Joe Louis Ice Arena is downtown as well as Ford Field. Restaurants: a plethora of good eating especially the famous Coney Island with Detroit Chili Dogs. Shopping: you can go downtown and shop till your heart's content but right next to campus there isn't much. Pubs/Clubbing: there are lots of great bars and clubs for every level of partier around. Some of the bigger ones are about 10-15 minutes away closer to downtown, but worth it. In addition WSU offers free events all the time, with interest in different departments as well as larger events everyone can enjoy (Like Lupe Fiasco Concerts). Go further into Detroit and you will find much more!
Food and Dining	The food is actually not bad, though it is all located in one place and campus is kindof big, BUT there are a lot of restaurants and fast food places that take the OneCard (your student ID that you put money onto and use as debit) that are all over campus. There are several Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, and of course many coffee shops all around.
Dorm Life	I lived in the dorms and I commute, it is expensive no doubt about it. The accommodations aren't bad. Two people to a room, one nicely sized bathroom. You have RAs of course, and people who were noisy anyway hah. The internet was good if you brought an Ethernet cable. Security is good too, and you can have overnight guests though they limit how many each month. The only problem I ever had was the lack of kitchens and the price.
Academic Rigor	I have been very challenged sometimes, and sometimes the classes have been a bit less stressful. Having gone to community college as well I can say for sure that this is quality teaching, and is on par with 4 year universities.
Tips for prospective students	Don't procrastinate, take a time management session, WSU offers them free. Try and save money where you can, plan your courses intelligently and make use of community college or get a job. Make sure you think about what job or career you'll be getting with your major, not just a subject you enjoy. Talk not just to the people you share a room with, but to those in your classes, especially if you're a commuter. Take advantage of all the events (especially the free ones), you'll miss that once you're graduated and sitting at home. Also, if you need to go to an adviser, I would strongly suggest going to the head of your academic department, not General Advising. You will get much more personalized and accurate advice on classes and credits and anything else. If you aren't good at networking, make sure that you improve on this. Whatever job you get whether it be researcher, teacher, lawyer, medicine, languages, business, you need connections! You need internships and experience, I know it may sound annoying but WSU does have some great internship opportunities in every department.

The professors, if you take the time to meet with them and put in effort, will help you in ways you would never get in a lecture hall with 1,000 students or more. WSU is committed to a degree you will actually use and is always offering experience to help your resume.

Dorm Life	Never stayed in a dorm but heard from fellow classmates, dorm life is pretty relaxing. No need for transportation, and gas usage because classes are right next to the dorms.
Academic Rigor	There weren't that many difficulties faced, only thing to keep in mind is, no matter how intelligent these professors may be, majority of them come from different countries and are not very fluent in English, so there might be a difficulty understanding some professors.
Tips for prospective students	For incoming student, make sure you come prepared. Start of the semester strong, and end it strong. Be sure to attend every lecture, as well as carry a tape recorder to record every lectures. Study a week before an exam, and if any questions, make sure you ask an instructor or seek help from a tutor. Lastly, enjoy the material being studied as much as possible, so you can intake the material, and understand the concept.

Campus Safety	Campus safety is amazing here. Being in Detroit, the Wayne State campus PD thought of it all. There's blue emergency lights placed all over that monitor what's going on. If its pressed for panic, the PD shows in 23 seconds at most. They solve campus crimes and do drive bys every few hours. They also walk on campus alot. I can say I feel safe on this campus.
Greek Life	Greek life is VERY important and prevalent on campus. We have a very high number of Iotas, Sigmas, Gammas, Zetas, AKAs, Deltas, Pikes, and some other Multi-racial, Arabic, and Latino sororities and fraternities. There's also Christian co-ed Greek groups as well as Medical, Engineering, and Alumni groups.
Clubs and Activities	I'm not too sure about clubs and universities since I'm not in any.
Great for these types of students	Medical, Law, Engineering, Education, and Art students will thrive here at Wayne State.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	Unusual locations..there's a few. Shepero Hall is one. No one is there that works for the university but its a scary building with creaky elevators and dark eerie lit halls..all in the shape of a pineapple upside down cake. I believe that's the building they hold forensics at so yes the smell of formeldehyde is high.
Bang for the buck	I thinkthat Wayne State is a good balance for $17,000 a year. However the Office of Financial Aid will not be your best friend.
What to do for fun	There's alot to do for fun since you're in the heart of Detroit. You can go to parties, to the Riverwalk, the clubs downtown, to concerts and shows, explore the historical mansions near Belle Isle, go to the Motown Museum, And alot more. I don't want to spoil all that Detroit has to offer.
Food and Dining	The food at Wayne State is...well...ok. Over the weekend though you better have your own snacks to eat or else you'll starve unless you leave your dorm to go off campus to eat. There's also a McDonalds, Taco Bell, KFC, Starbucks, Einstein Bagels, Jimmy Johns, Salad 101, Sushi Place, Freshens, La Pita, Babylos, Tim Hortons, and an Indian resturant on campus aside from the dining halls.
Dorm Life	Wayne State's dorm life is pretty good. I can only speak for living in the newest dorm which is called The Towers. Its like a hotel type of experience living in suites on campus. I will say that over the weekends the meal plans are almost non existant. The hours are not helpful if you wake up after them and not before. There are also diverse dorm communities if you're a female, an international student, an Honors student, or 21 and up which bring different people together on a mature level.
Academic Rigor	Like I said before, Wayne State is a hard university. Every student here must take stern math and science courses with labs for both departments and it is not that easy. There are LOTS of term papers to write and alot of math problems given for homework each night.
Tips for prospective students	A few tips for prospective students thinking of Wayne State University as an option: this school is not easy. It may not be up there with the top universities in the country but you will have a lot of studying to do. This is a research university that brings that factor to every lecture and lab.

This college is pretty enjoyable if you like the freedom of not having a gated campus and like ethnic diversity. Campus Safety	Although Wayne State is located in downtown Detroit, campus is safer than ever. The pathways at Wayne state are very wide, wide enough that the campus police can drive their police vehicles right through campus. Wayne State is said to have the best campus police in Michigan.
Bang for the buck	If you do not want to live in Detroit then you can always commute if you live near Grosse Pointe, St. Clair Shores, Roseville, etc. It takes about 20-30 minutes to drive to school, but it saves you hundreds compared to living on campus. At home theres your own space, your own city, your own things, and little distractions so why not commute!
Food and Dining	Wayne state doesn't just have a food court (including Subway, Pizza Hut, chinese food) but there are also many restaurants like Jimmy Johns and Wasabi (a popular local sushi restaurant) located on the outskirts of campus.
Dorm Life	I have not seen much of the dorm life, but I've heard that the newer buildings are ideal. Theres nothing like the smell of fresh paint to help you begin a new semester.
Academic Rigor	The classes are challenging, but the teachers at Wayne State are thrilled to help students out. There are also people who will help you in the many libraries Wayne state has to offer.
Tips for prospective students	Make sure you have the whole day to register if you are an incoming freshman or transfer student. There are just a few counselors and thousands of students so it takes a while to get paperwork done.

Campus Safety	The campus safety is amazing. They are really on top of things. They semd you new reports about things happening on and around campus. They can send text alerts and emails. If you call they will send an escort to walk to to your destination if you are out late. They have security guards constantly walking around campus and posted in ket buildings. They have emergency stations posted in various places around campus to contact them and if you are being chased or followed you can create a trail security can follow by the emergency buttons you push as you past the stations. They do a lot for the students and they good at what they do. They are on top of things and very reliable.
What to do for fun	There is always something fun to do. My friends and I go downtown where there is always something going on. The campus always has on outing on Thursdays where they have buses to take us to fun events around the city. The school also shows movies on every Wednesday. Frats, Sororities, and Clubs throw open parties and dances and random events happen al over campus. With all this fun, it's hard to prioritize but it's possible.
Food and Dining	They have a large variety of food that is heavily influenced by the culinary arts students. The dormitory entitled Towers has the biggest and best variety. They even have cultural food such as Indian, Chinese, Mexican, you name it. They have vegetarian and vegan food too. You can always find something to eat and it's surprisingly good. We also have restaurants all around and surrounding campus too. So you'll always have delicious choices.
Dorm Life	Dorm life is awesome. At least for me. There are some dorms you want to avoid but it varies from year to year. I had a great roommate, a nice quiet floor, friends around the corner, an awesome RA, fun activities at least once a week, no curfew, no nagging parents telling you to clean your room and do your homework, how to dress - nothing, responsibility and freedom; my rules, my way. It was the best. It feels like you're living in a big apartment with your best friends. One thing you have to do is not let all that freedom go to your head. People get carried away and do crazy things and some people don't get out of bed because they technically don't have to and end up failing classes over attendance. Remember I said attendance is important. You can't be late either because so many tardies equal an absence or they don't let you in and force you to take an absence. Prioritize and drink a lot of coffee.
Academic Rigor	They demand a lot of you. If you are not use to a large work load start preparing now especially if you are majoring in music. We are required to take between 7 and 10 music classes every semester plus our required academic academic classes while everyone else takes 3 to 5. It will be overwhelming primarily because students want to balance fun with studies and that is a tough balance. They should never be equal. Study more and the fun will be more worth it.
Tips for prospective students	Attendance is important. Stay on top of your grades at all all times. There are always a lot of activities happening on campus so you need to prioritize. Stay in the faces of your teachers and counselors. They have to know who you are in order to care enough about you to help. Enjoy your new found freedom with self control and find people who have the same goals as you.

What to do for fun	There is a wide variety of activities that various organizations put on to keep the student body entertained. There are also different events that happen in the downtown area that most students frequent since we are in the city.
Food and Dining	The food at Wayne is pretty good, they offer a wide variety of locations where you can visit to get some good grub. Some examples of the various eateries include fast food places like Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, etc, food corporations like AVI food Inc. and other various restaurants around campus.
Dorm Life	Since the dorms are still relatively new the condition of the dorm rooms and the buildings are good. The RA's put on programs to try and establish connections between the residents and the residential staff.
Academic Rigor	The math, science, and foreign language courses and programs here at Wayne are very intense. These classes require a large amount of time, attention, and dedication.
Tips for prospective students	One important tip I have for possible students is that you need to keep track of your progress. By that I mean you need to keep a record of classes that you have completed and keep current with the changes that are made in each specific program for each major.
In three sentences	Wayne State is top-notch academically and our programs have some of the best professors in them. The atmosphere here at Wayne is one of true diversity, we have students of various cultural backgrounds that attend this university. Campus Safety	Wayne State takes safety very serious. There are campus police all over campus. They send out emails to students on the rare occasion something happens and a crime report every month. They're always sending emails and posting tips on how to keep yourself safe. They also have free self-defense classes every month.
Great for these types of students	Wayne State University is research university. If you're majoring in the medical field or any other field that requires tons of research Wayne State is perfect for you. The majority of the students work full time and are serious about obtaining an education to move forward in their career. The university and its faculty are are of this and try to accomodate those who jobs/ other responsibilities. They have classes from 7 or 8 am to 9 pm, so you have a wide variety of classes to choose from. Wayne State is also great for students looking for diversity. The diversity is one of the reason I love attending this university. I've met people from Florida, California, Nigeria, Lebanon, and Albania all on campus!
What to do for fun	There's always something going on campus.Wayne State is about 3 minutes from downtown Detroit and 15 minutes away from Fairlane mall, so there's always something to do.
Food and Dining	They have several diners on and around campus.
Dorm Life	I don't live on campus, but I am looking to move in one of the apartments a few blocks away from campus. There are lots of apartments in that area.
Academic Rigor	Most of the classes are fast pace and very demanding, but not impossible. If you study, you'll pass. Simple as that.
Tips for prospective students	You must be organized, study, and serious about your studies. If you aren't willing to put in hard work you will find yourself struggling. Studying and being organized are key components to being successful at Wayne State.

Campus Safety	I love the police at Wayne State! They're there in no time if an issue arises and the best part about it is we don't have to rely on Detroit's crappy police system!
What to do for fun	There's tons of stuff to do on campus! There are a million and one organizations! If you're not the org type you can go to the rec center... I mean hey it's included into your tuition fees!
Food and Dining	Dorm food is the worst but places around the campus aren't bad! You might find several little known Wayne State secrets if you choose to attend!
Dorm Life	The dorm life is okay if you're into sharing your space for the most part. If you don't like sharing space with someone, I would not recommend staying on campus.
Academic Rigor	I'm a science major and when I say I feel prepared to tackle anything that comes my way I mean it!!!!
Tips for prospective students	Do not rely on financial aid as your source for financial aid assistance; the financial aid office is improving but it SUCKS nonetheless. Prepare yourself ahead of time for long nights of studying! Do your research before you purchase a book for class!

Campus Safety	Wayne State is a safe campus. I've been around the campus a lot of times and there are so many police officers patrolling everywhere on campus. This campus also has cameras everywhere, especially in the parking structures.
Clubs and Activities	There are so many clubs and activities here. Just to name a few, there's BSA-Bangladeshi Student Association, Criminal Justice Club, Biology Club, and so much more.
Great for these types of students	Wayne State is great for students who are looking for a large university with a very diverse population. This college is known for its medical, law, and engineering school.

What to do for fun	Wayne State has a variety of things on campus. You can go rock climbing to playing volleyball outside by the dorms. Even better, they have a campus recreational center with a full basketball court and a fitness area. As you can see, there is so much to do on campus. You'll never be bored.
Food and Dining	What's a college life without great food? Wayne State offers a variety of food. From your local fast food chains such as: McDonald's, Taco Bell, KFC, and Subway to different ethnic foods such as: Mediterranean, Greek, and Chinese foods. The dining halls are so big and roomy. They're a great atmosphere for studying and just talking with your buddies.
Dorm Life	The dorms here are so nice and kind of spacious for a one or two people room. They have secured entrances along with secured dorm rooms. The staff that works in the dorms are so nice.
Academic Rigor	The academics here is highly stressed and positive. The courses here are very detailed and have great professors. The classes aren't too easy or too hard, just right.
Tips for prospective students	Students applying here should definitely check out the campus. While attending college here, there are so many resources available for students. I suggest students attend orientation and any other college related events because it's an awesome experience. Also, try to not be shy and make friends, after all, they say you meet your best friend in college.

Campus Safety	There is crime in the city. Nevertheless, if you're safe, smart, and cautious about the surroundings, there shouldn't be too many issues. I haven't encountered any safety issues, personally, as of yet.
Greek Life	I have not joined any sororities, but if that's what floats some one's boat, it works. There are so many great people. There are also avid sports fans so the Greek Life shouldn't be too shabby either.
Clubs and Activities	There are a lot of clubs and activities. The campus is pretty large and there are countless organizations to join. There is something for people who like big groups or those who prefer something more cozy.
Great for these types of students	Wayne State is a great for students who are looking for something different. There are so many different aspects to the faculty and students. Tips for prospective students	Prepare in advance, as early as the freshman year in high school. Take placement and advanced placements tests in order to test out of classes. This is a great money saver and leaves more room to take classes that a student wants to take, as opposed to just classes that are required.

Greek Life	There a re quite a bit of fraternities and sororities around campus. Each are for a different person, so if students are interested in joining, they will have a wide variety to choose from.
Clubs and Activities	Fraternities, sororities and other clubs, that help you become resourceful unto other students. Clubs also help you to form study groups which can be quite efficient academically.
Great for these types of students	Students who are quite studious, would find Wayne State University amazing. Students who are quite social, may find Wayne State University to be a decent place, but not the most lively place.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	The Pike House, which is a fraternity house for partying, is located a couple blocks from campus. This is the typical place that people go on fridays and saturdays to be able to escape some of the campus life.
Bang for the buck	Wayne State is quite expensive, but academically this school is worth the cost. Outside of academics it seems to lack value of what students are required to pay.
What to do for fun	Hang out with friends between classes. Get involved in campus organizations as well as campus activities.
Food and Dining	Food isn't fabulous, but isn't quite bad either. Overall, the food is pretty decent. Wayne State University dining needs a larger variety of dining options.

What to do for fun	There are so many things you can do to enjoy yourself and keep yourself occupied. Furthermore, you can train at the gym or just simply visit the beautiful sights on campus.
Food and Dining	There are restricted areas where smokers are strongly prohibited from smoking due to the students in school/ class. There are smoking areas where smokers can smoke, as well.
Dorm Life	I don't live on campus, but I always see signs put up asking if anyone wants a roommate. People are extremely friendly on campus.
Academic Rigor	It's really good to be envolved and participate in academic activities. Colleges and universities like that.
Tips for prospective students	I would encourage prospective students to try to maintain their GPA if they're still in high school. I also, recommend for them to study hard and use all the resources that are provided, for they are extremely helpful.

Campus Safety	According to Campus Watch which is a Wayne State Police Department report that is sent to all students and staff that reports the latest crime statistics, criminal occurrences and safety tips, the crime rate around campus (called Midtown) has decreased lately. This is probably due to the attentive and hard-working Wayne State Police officers who actually come when you call. I had called to report a suspicious yell that I heard while walking to the library and the officer on the other line listened attentively to what I was saying and responded immediately. They will also come out and follow you if you find yourself walking around campus and feel the need for an officer to accompany you.
Great for these types of students	Commuter and non-traditional students in search of an excellent university that will accommodate them despite being considered a non-traditional student. Although I'm not going into engineering, when I was speaking with an academic advisor in the college of engineering, she said that this school (Wayne State) is full of non-academic students who do very well.
Bang for the buck	Despite the tuition increases that happened lately, the tuition at Wayne is comparitively affordable.
What to do for fun	I enjoy fishing, boating, biking, watching movies (old and new), spending time with my loved ones.
Food and Dining	The restaurants on campus have been great: great service, good tasting food and accommodating seating
Dorm Life	I do not currently live in the dorms on Wayne State's main campus. I cannot comment on this. But, from what I've experienced, the dorms look great.
Academic Rigor	Wayne State University is known for having academically rigorous coursework in all subject areas.
Tips for prospective students	Take full advantage of all the benefits provided to you when you are accepted to Wayne State University, like the student health clinic (there are discounted basic health visits that are affordable and free flu shots given at some time during the school year for, typically, registered students) and free undergraduate student membership to the gym. The free tutoring in the academic services center is a helpful resource to assist you in your classes.

Campus Safety	This is the one thing they have trouble keeping up with. Everywhere you go there are cops. Plain clothes, unmarked cars, marked cars, bicycles. Everything. However, at night time things can be dangerous if you don't know where your at. I personally had my bicycle stolen the first 24 hours I was here. This being said, that is all most of these crooks will do. They aren't smart enough to steal a car and they aren't dumb enough to hurt someone. They want to make a buck and your bicycle is top pick. I currently have 2 locks on my bicycle and keep it indoors at all times.
Greek Life	The frat house across the street from me contain the nicest frat guys I have ever met in my life. I was walking down the street, they asked me if I had ever been to their house, and then they gave me a tour. The Greek life on campus is slim.. But a mile down the road in Greektown inside Downtown, doesn't get better than that.
Clubs and Activities	Clubs are few and far between. There is at least one club I know of that is safe to go to and is very student friendly. There are two clubs in downtown which you should not attend unless you are a frequent flyer there. Activities, however are plentiful. Many, many, club sports, co-op sports, late night study halls have activities, free yoga classes, free boot camp classes, and of course every Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings game is less than 2 miles away!
Great for these types of students	This college is great for students who don;t mind living at home with their parents to save money on housing costs. Also, to me, it is great for the students who love to go out and explore the unknown. If you are from the metro-Detroit area, Detroit is your unknown. Now is the time to explore how cool this place really is.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	Since I have only been here about a month, I am not aware of any unusual locations on campus. But, Detroit has a whole host of unusual locations.
Bang for the buck	This college is THE college to go to for bang for your buck. It gives very similar learning quality, smaller class sizes and less tuition costs than similar 4 year universities.
What to do for fun	Detroit is a great place to have a good time, especially if your claustrophobic. The bars here are often filled with young educated people. Midtown has several breweries and more bars than I can count. The best bars are always the hidden ones that no one knows about. Downtown Detroit has a few places to go, but don't judge a book by it's cover, there are a lot of good things happening there. The students of WSU are always active within the community and if you can't find something to do, it is simply because you didn't look hard enough.
Food and Dining	Wayne State University opened up a vegetarian on-campus diner. This goes to show they are keeping up with the times. They try to use local and/or organic food here as well. Many universities do not give these kind of options and even if they do, what is the chance you are going to go there and find someone you know? Here at WSU you are always finding your friends which makes every situation better.
Dorm Life	Wayne State University is mainly a commuter college. However, There are a few dorms on-campus and some student housing off-campus which I am currently living in. This is by far my most favorite part about this being mainly a commuter school, is you get to know everyone around you. At the end of the day, when everyone drove an hour in traffic back to the suburbs, you get to have the city to yourself. The nightlife around campus and in midtown is great.
Academic Rigor	This is my first semester as an Undergraduate here at Wayne State so I could not tell you confidently how tough classes are.
Tips for prospective students	Prospective students need to jump through a lot less hoops than other similar 4-year Universities such as MSU or U of M. This doesn't mean its easy though, stay on top of your paper work and make sure you meet the deadlines. Come and take tours of Detroit and especially Midtown. Judging Detroit by 8 mile road is like judging a book by it's cover, it does no justice to the magnificence of the city.
In three sentences	Wayne State University is a college for those who know they need a great education as well as realizing they have a budget to follow. This school is well known throughout Michigan and even throughout the country. If I had to choose one thing I like best about WSU so far, it would be the relatively small class sizes.

Campus Safety	The police department is wonderful. They have a huge police presence on the campus and are at emergencies VERY quickly. Any issues I've ever had were met with respect and a prompt response. They take student safety very seriously and have always been helpful.
Greek Life	I don't have any experience with the sororities on campus.
Clubs and Activities	There are plenty of clubs to get involved in from political campaigns to social clubs and movie nights. There's always something going on, especially during the second full week of classes for Warrior Wednesday.
Great for these types of students	Students who are on a budget and have to work will find this school to be a great fit. There are several other campuses in the area, so if a class isn't available on the main campus, you can find it at another location.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	There used to be a funeral for Old Man Winter every spring, but I think that has since ended. It used to be a partnership between the music department and the mortuary science department.
Bang for the buck	It's a great deal, especially since they offer a second bachelor's degree program at an accelerated rate. You don't have to retake any general education classes and can focus on your professional program.
What to do for fun	Get involved. Don't just show up to class and go home. The best way to make the most of your college experience is to get involved with the band, or join a club or sport.
Food and Dining	The food at the school has improved greatly. They used to have a ton of fast food places, but now more specialized and healthy options are available. Check out the gourmet food trucks they have outside of the library.
Dorm Life	The dorms were recently built, but I haven't lived in them, so I cannot give an accurate rating on them.
Academic Rigor	It is what you make of it. You can skate by and do the minimum and do alright, but if you really focus, you can excel and really find a great job after your graduation.
Tips for prospective students	Stay organized, because no one is going to do it for you at this school, or any other school. Make sure you cover all of your bases, stay up-to-date with your homework and make contact with your professors so they see you as a person and not just a name on a class roster. Get help BEFORE it become a crisis situation and you'll succeed.

Food and Dining	The food is pretty good,it all depends on where you go. I don't really eat on campus but from what I hear the dining hall is good.
Dorm Life	The dorm life is truly an experience that you will always remember. You can meet so many different people and you are there with people all around the world. This can be used to network and develop relationships that can last a lifetime.
Academic Rigor	The classes are very challenging but it is all about time management. I have learned that and I think I have adjusted well to the college life.

Campus Safety	This is one of the safest campuses that I've ever been too. Though the campus is located in Detroit where the crime rate isn't the greatest, it is still safe. The campus police are always circulating the campus. The police have safe walks if a person doesn't feel secure enough to walk by themselves.
Clubs and Activities	There are over five hundred clubs and activities on campus. A new student can find them selves relating to any community of interest. This is great for people who are a little shy.
Great for these types of students	If you are a student that would like to go into the medical field this is the place for you. The medical school on campus is alive and well and there are students buzzing with amibions in the medical field. The chemistry school ranks as one of the best in the world and reaches new heights every year.
Bang for the buck	This is a great school. It is one of the best research colleges in the country. Students at Wayne State are getting the same education that they would at a bigger university for a fraction of the price and in a shorter amount of time.
What to do for fun	Wayne State has introduced Thursday's in the D. This is an event every Thursday that allows for students on campus to goto different events that are happening in the city. Best of all most of these events are free for Wayne State students. There is a shuttle that takes people back and forth to these events and that is all at no fee.
Food and Dining	There are two dining halls on the Wayne State campus. The Towers Cafe is the main dining area but there is another vegan eating area at the Ghafari Dorms. This dining hall is called Golden Greens. Both places are quit delectable but if one grows tired of the main two there are a lot of places to eat. Starbucks, Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Jimmy Johns, Taco and even an after hours dining area that allows one to use their meal plan.
Dorm Life	The dorm life at Wayne State doesn't have much enthusiasm. This is a commuter college. Since the college is located in Midtown, just right out side of down town Detroit, many students live in the vicinity of the downtown area so there's not a lot of people on campus. The dorms are still comfortable and its a great way to network and meet new people. There are three freshemn dorms to choose from; Ghafari, Atchinson and The Towers. Ghafari and Atchinson are considered to have more freshman and tend to be more open and social. If you would like to have more privacy and apartment styled dorm life, then The Towers is suggested. The age ranges from freshman to graduate level students. Though there aren't many people on campus on the weekends, one is still able to have fun.
Academic Rigor	The general lecture classes are huge and consist of two hundred to five hundred people to a class. This means that there isn't much attention put on you, so you have to seek help. There are a lot of smaller classrooms that may fit your need for attention. These classes tend to be easier. Either way, Wayne's classes are as easy or difficult depending on the amount of effort you put into them.
Tips for prospective students	This is a school where people are very serious about their studies. Wayne State isn't a party school but you'll have fun learning. We finish much earlier than most colleges will. Therefore if you want to learn as much as possible and have fun doing so, Wayne State is the place to be.
In three sentences	Wayne State is the best school for research and learning about ones field of study. The people and teachers are truly concerned for your education and that is hard to find at a big university. Wayne State is my school and it's a great place to be.

Clubs and Activities	The University has tons of clubs and activities to do. I have not had the time to participate in any but they are everywhere and if you still can't find one, just create your own.
Great for these types of students	Great for undecided students, students who want a cheaper graduate program, and students who enjoy a walk everywhere campus.

Bang for the buck	Wayne is quite cheaper than other colleges in terms of tuition but expenses will be there in terms of dorming, commuting, food, books, etc.
What to do for fun	Go to the student center and shoot some pool, play on the soccer table, go see some plays, go enjoy the campus; quite frankly, just go out and enjoy yourself.
Food and Dining	Towers is where I usually eat and the food is alright. I have been to Epicurus on Warren and the food is cheap and delicious. I'd also recommend the Olympic grill if you have the time.
Dorm Life	I do not dorm.
Academic Rigor	Intermediate difficulty classes. Classes are not easy by any means but as long as you keep up with respective lectures and discussions, you should be fine.
Tips for prospective students	Do not slack off; honestly the year will just get worse for you if you do. If you commute, leave early because traffic is a nightmare. I would recommend dorming if you can afford it.
In three sentences	Wayne State is a great college for people who are undecided or have plans for a graduate degree. It offers many programs and is relatively cheap compared to many other universities. Admittedly, the classes are not easy but they are doable.

What to do for fun	On Warrior Wednesday's the will show movies or have a special dance. The student center has a underground part where you can play video games, pool, or ping pong.
Food and Dining	The salad bar at Tower's Cafe should have a lot more options to chose from. The hours are flexible. They serve vegetarian as well as regular food.
Dorm Life	Some R.A.'s aren't that fair as far as establishing the rules. The activities in the dorms are fun and exciting. The guest policy could be better.
Academic Rigor	The classes are challenging , but useful. There are plenty of places to get help on campus if you need it.

Great for these types of students	The university is a great place to own you craft. If you're an artist, actor, dancer, painter, etc. Wayne State is for you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	The Undergraduate Library is the hide out place. When you want to read a book or get some homework finish the library is not far at all. The library is in the center of campus.
Bang for the buck	There are really cool place to spend you money. I get my hair cut right on campus at the Social Club Grooming Company. I have lunch sometimes at the Campus Diner, Harmony Garden, really there is too much to name.
What to do for fun	For fun I enjoy going to the; Bonstelle Theatre, Hilberry Theatre, Studio Theatre, Art Galleries, Dance Studios, Detroit Institute of Art, etc. I love Midtown Detroit in general.
Food and Dining	Everyday their are varieties of foods to choose from. From grilled cheese to baked chicken, Wayne State has variety. Also we have vegan menus.
Dorm Life	The dorms/apartments on-campus are exceptional as well. The facilities are top of the line. Utilities, cable, internet, and security are amenities of the on-campus living situation.
Academic Rigor	As far as academics Wayne State University is exceptional. Our professors are genuine and hard working. We have some of the best programs in the Metro Detroit area especially.
Tips for prospective students	Check out the programs that you are interested in. Visit the college/department. Talk to friends that attend the university.

Campus Safety	Even though we're in the middle of Detroit (not necessarily known for it's safety) the campus police have everything under control. There are blue boxes on every street corner and it's a lot safer than what most would think.
What to do for fun	There are movie nights in the student center every Wednesday and activities all over the campus. Also, if you like working out, there are many different places on the campus that allow for it. The fitness center for instance has a track, a weight room, two basketball courts, and a ton of equipment and one of the rec centers has a pool.
Food and Dining	Meh... The thing about the food is while it's good everyone gets sick of cafeteria food after a while. There are many places on campus to eat and get drinks. It also has an all vegetarian cafeteria and respects the different cultures that come to the school.
Dorm Life	I love my dorm. I was put with some really cool roommates and while none of us share the same major we're all learning a lot about each other and how to work with others. That and being in a dorm you're immersed in college life. It's pretty cool.
Academic Rigor	There's a lot work depending on your classes and your major. Be sure to pay attention and go to class to get your notes.
Tips for prospective students	If you're thinking of coming to Wayne State, it's a great school. However, make sure to remember that it is still school and it isn't all fun and games. Skipping your classes because you can or shirking homework assignments because they aren't due for a week aren't the way to go about becoming an adult. College gets you ready for the real world and you have to set up your own times and manage everything yourself because you don't have anyone over your shoulder telling you that you need to go.
In three sentences	It's a very diverse setting with a lot of culture being in downtown Detroit and all. It's a great school and the classes I've taken so far have had some of the most amazing and genuinely caring teachers. I've had a great first semester, and I quite enjoy my time.

What to do for fun	In the student center there are free movie showings, and games, such as ping pong. Sometimes there are snowball wars in the winter, during the summer you can play volleyball at the court outside, play Frisbee, or football. Or you can look at the museums that are right by WSU, such as, DIA, and Detroit Science Center. Furthermore, there are always activities going on around campus like football and basketball games.
Food and Dining	There are many places that are a walking distance to eat from. There are a variety of food offered: Halal, vegan, and Kosher. You can order out or eat in, and there are many fast food places.
Dorm Life	I commute to school, but I have visited friends in there dorms, they are fun and all the students living in dorms help each other with classes. But you have to be focused not to party to much.
Academic Rigor	The academic rigor at Wayne State is adequate. Some departments have part-time professors and others have full time, so depending on the teacher the subject will either be easy to understand or hard. The discussion classes and Labs are taught by graduate students, but most of the time you will not be able to understand what is being said. At the end, you are accountable to learn the material and keep up with the classes. If you are having difficultly there are teachers, consulars and free tutors available to help.
Tips for prospective students	Prospective students should take low level classes at a community college first and then transfer to Wayne State; it is a waste of money. They should apply to scholarships before transferring or coming to it, and maintain a high GPA and ACT score. Having a high GPA and ACT score will help you a lot when taking classes and more money is given to you in term of scholarships. When picking classes, schedule ahead of time which classes you want to take for each semester, a plan of work, saves you a lot of stress and gives you a goal. Secondly choose professors that have lot of experience in teaching and are doctorates, they are the best teachers to have when trying to learn a subject.

Campus Safety	Campus Safety is a priority one at Wayne State. People will always feel safe there because the campus police are on the job. You can even be walked to and from class at night time should you feel unsafe.
Greek Life	There are many sororities and fraternities here at Wayne State. They host many parties, step shows, study groups and fundraisers to life the spirits of the students and to help out others.
Clubs and Activities	There are many clubs and activities available around campus. There are the bible clubs, engineering clubs, rugby and basketball for the sports people. There are also entertaining shows that are hosted by Wayne State.

Dorm Life	Dorm Life is amazing!!!!!! I am so glad I decided to move on campus and meet all the people that I have met. The Dorms are clean and friendly, they have accessible study areas, a laundry room, even a kitchen so that you can cook those missed home cooked meals... Just don't burn the place down.
Academic Rigor	The classes at Wayne State offer a variety of knowledge that most freshman level students will enjoy. They are engaging and can be applied to not only your field of study but also to everyday life.

Food and Dining	The food is decent. The food could be better as well. Sometimes, you will get tired of eating the same food so you will definitely would want to leave campus to try something different.
Dorm Life	Dorm life at Wayne State is fun but it could definitely be better. There is hardly anything to do or eat on the weekends. Everything closes early or not even open on the weekends at all.
Academic Rigor	Academically, I would give Wayne State a high rating. They challenge their student's mind in different aspects in all their classes. The teachers are not to hard and definitely not to easy on the students, which is a great thing. They are helpful to the students but are babysitters for them. I must say I've made the right decision by becoming a Wayne State Warrior.
Tips for prospective students	To prospective students, you have to have the mind-set that college is different from high school. Work loads, and learning in college is not the same from high school. Food and Dining	I only eat at the student center since I do not have a meal plan but the cafe does have good food.

Campus Safety	They are very hands on, as well as the Detroit Police department. Assistance is always there.
Greek Life	Myself personally haven't joined any, but if I were too I would join Alpha Kappa Alpha.
Clubs and Activities	Unsure about. Besides the recreational center, sororities and fraternities, I really don't know about those spots.
Great for these types of students	Great for all types of students. Students of different ethnicity's, going for different degrees, having different experiences.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	I haven't came across any but I'm interested in learning things new, especially about the school I attend.

Campus Safety	Always there whenever you turn your head.
Clubs and Activities	All sorts of different clubs, limited on varsity sports however considering we're not in the top leagues, however you will find most of them.
Great for these types of students	The diversity makes it great for ALL types of students.
Bang for the buck	Price is slightly lower than University of Michigan - Dearborn, however the prestige and quality is still there.
What to do for fun	Open field for sports, sand volley ball in between buildings, or just hang out in the student center.
Food and Dining	Restaurants all around campus, most of them are really good
Academic Rigor	Not the hardest of schools but definitely will have to put some serious effort in.
Tips for prospective students	Take a visit and just walk around campus. A lot of times people are skeptical because it is in Detroit however it is very safe.
In three sentences	Excellent School full of diversity. The class sizes are average, and the professors are able to get along with just about everyone in the class. Downtown Detroit is not an easy place to make look good, however Wayne State easily manages it.

Campus Safety	At Wayne State University, there are always police and safety officers on campus. Rarely do you ever hear about crime at Wayne, however, those few incidents that happen are mostly stolen items left unattended, unarmed robberies, some larceny, and vehicle theft.
Greek Life	I honestly have not been much into Greek life, however, I have friends who are involved in sororities and fraternities. I see so much spirit and volunteering come from these organizations and they seem to have a pretty close family-bond with one another; something that is important to have at Wayne State University.
Clubs and Activities	There are a ton of clubs and activities at Wayne State for students to join, and put on their resumes. There are too many to list on a review, but there is a huge list on Wayne State's website. There are science organizations, societal clubs, environment saving clubs, Greek life, business organizations, language clubs, journalism and broadcasting clubs, women's clubs, religious clubs, fashion clubs, health clubs, and just about anything else you can think of.
Great for these types of students	Not just any specific students, but for any and all students who will need to take math courses, join the Emerging Scholars Program (ESP) or the Rising Scholars Program (RSP). These programs help you get better grades in these courses whether you are a math genius or not. The teachers and their plans are designed to help you succeed; they really care. You can build a family with the programs and their policies make it so that you can do nothing but succeed. It is great for everyone.
What to do for fun	There are a ton of activities at Wayne State. From extreme frisbee, to sports events, to free concerts and plays, Wayne State is surrounded with things to do. It is also located near the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Historical Museum, the Detroit Science Center, and the African American Museum. You can join organizations or hang around with friends.
Food and Dining	The food around Wayne State is pretty good, and I am a picky eater. The dorm food is nice because they have recently acquired a vegetarian dining hall in one of the dorms. Wayne State is located in Midtown of Detroit, so there are also tons of restaurants at which you can eat.
Dorm Life	I have only lived in a dorm once and that was my first year. Every one is different, but I would personally never do it again. The dorms themselves are not bad, but choose wisely how many roommates you want. I had three and they all wanted to party every night, which got in the way of my studying. On the bright side, it was convenient to walk to class every day and get some exercise.
Academic Rigor	At Wayne State, the classes are extremely tough, especially with the sciences. The language classes can get rigorous as well, but any biology, physics, or chemistry classes require extreme amounts of studying time. Make sure to use every resource that is available when you can.
Tips for prospective students	What I learned when I first came to Wayne State is to always check your student account for errors. Wayne State is great, but the school has a tendency to miss payments and charge extra money. If you set up a payment plan, always make sure that the payments are posted with them.
In three sentences	Wayne State is great for all types of students. It may be considered a science school because it is known for its medical school, but it actually has something to offer for every student who attends. Wayne has free tutoring and academic help services, seven libraries, a low crime rate, is very diverse, and has a free public transportation system.

What to do for fun	There are so many things to do here at WSU. Either being involved in a club or heading out with a group of friends to eat, catch a movie, or just go bowling, there is entertainment all around. Detroit is also full of famous landmarks. From the Detroit Institute of Arts to the Fox Theater..there is always something to do here.
Food and Dining	There are so many opportunities and choices to choose from a huge variety of foods either on or around campus. Everything ranging from Italian to Mexican to Middle Eastern and all the fast food you can imagine! WSU has got it all!!
Dorm Life	Although I commute to campus, I have heard that dorm life is pretty exciting. It's always interesting to be on campus and there are many activities and things that happen round the clock here at WSU.
Academic Rigor	Wayne State is known for being one of the best research based universities in Michigan. The classes are what you expect them to be, challenging yet rewarding. A lot of the courses include dealing with and managing the urban society we live in and how we, as individuals and as a community can better the place we live in and make it a better and safer environment for everyone.
In three sentences	Wayne State University is a great threshold for those looking for the urban experience. Although education is important, it is not the sole focus here at WSU. The multitude of cultures that blend here just makes this University all the more exciting be apart of-It's definitely a unique and worthwhile experience!!

Academic Rigor	The academic rigor is only a challenge if you're not focused. For the most part it is only what you make it out to be.
Tips for prospective students	Make sure all paper work is turned in and on time. Also make sure you have copies of your documents to be turned in.

Clubs and Activities	Getting better. This year Meek Mills came to our campus and it was free for wayne state students.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	The student Center is the hot spot on campus and also where the food court is located. We also have an underground grille for late nights when the cafes are closed and students want to catch a bite and socialize. A hidden jewel on campus is the campus dinner! They have great food and its like a coney island. The food is also at an amazing price. U can eat in or order out. Also Club UGL is the undergraduate Library but its loud and crazy in there!
Bang for the buck	Make sure you have your financial aid in order way before classes start. Wayne state is great at messing that up. Wayne state is more of a commuter school but it is trying to enhance campus life. Its great to work on Wayne states campus while attending college there. You learn a great deal, earn money and employers understand that you are students first and employees second.
What to do for fun	Campus is close to Down town Detroit so you get to go out on the town. Go to concerts, Basketball Games, Baseball games and many more events.
Tips for prospective students	Stay on campus for at least a year. Listen to rate my professor it will make your college experience great! Come to Wayne State University!

Campus Safety	It's fairly safe here but make car theft is a big deal. Please keep all valuables out of sight so that your vehicle doesn't get broken into and also, try and use the buddy system if you are out after dark.
Greek Life	I'm not Greek but the sororities and fraternities are very prominent here. They have step shows and other fun activities that you can participate in.
Clubs and Activities	There are numerous activities to participate in. Just make sure to attend Move-In day and other orientations to hear about them.
Great for these types of students	Students with families and who are working will appreciate the flexibility of Wayne State's classes.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus	Capture the flag and other silly games are often chosen as a freshmen icebreaker.
Bang for the buck	Wayne State is expensive! And parking costs an arm and a leg. Don't even get me started on books. Expect to break your pockets.
What to do for fun	Your are close to the downtown night life so there is plenty to do! Also, you are surrounded by a ton of hip restaurants to enjoy with friends. Great for first dates or just a hand out after class.
Food and Dining	The food here is decent. Not the best, not the worst. I advise that you stash snacks in your dorm and make sure that you have a fridge for cold drinks.
Dorm Life	The dorms are fantastic. You have your own bathroom, you control your own temperature and you have a decent amount of space. There are many things to do if you know what you are looking for.
Academic Rigor	You will get a great education at Wayne State. This is the place to be especially if you are going into the medical field.
Tips for prospective students	Sign up for classes early. Classes fill up really quick!
