Literally, anything you can think of. If you're an outdoorsy type, not only is Bellingham a great place to go hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking, but there's a center on campus that holds outdoor events where you can rent kayaks, or any sort of sport equipment, for ridiculously cheap. Literally, less than 5 bucks to rent a kayak for a day. There's also a ton of music events always going on, and at the bigger concerts, WWU students get super discounts on tickets. I've been going to all the campus events whenever I get bored, and they're usually pretty fun.

Bellingham has a lot of cute coffee shops to go to and a lot of activities to participate in. One thing Western has is the Dead Parrot's Society. They are the school improve team and they have hilarious shows quite often.

I like downtown a lot. Lots of unique, local businesses which probably don't impress kids from Portland, but I am used to being surrounded by only giant franchises so I am absolutely ecstatic to go downtown and see all the small shops and restaurants and know that I'm supporting the local economy with my purchases. There is a pretty cool film scene--the Pickford is a neat place to watch independents. There are some neat museums and exhibits, an aquatic center, lots of parks. It's also very popular for students to go hiking and skiing and other outdoor sports on the weekends.

Downtown Bellingham is really fun, and tuition comes with a bus pass so its really easy to get around! The underground coffee house is really fun as well. They have open mic night every week.

Downtown Bellingham is fantastic, however, dangerous at night. Always travel in pairs and look out for one another. I have two tattoos from a shop in downtown Bellingham that have changed my life. I had more fun and experienced much more downtown, rather than at school.

I like to sit in the sun and take in all the beauty around me, or go sit in the underground coffee house and read or meet new people

I play catch with friends and go to other dorms for fun. I did go to volleyball and basketball games while they were playing. Don't forget that this school doesn't have a football team! It does mean that we focus on the smaller sports though.

In the gym there's weights, items available for renting (basketballs, mats, tools, etc.), rock climbing center, and a swimming pool. Not to mention plenty of extra recreational groups/activities (yoga, etc.) to explore. Great, large, well kept track and field as well. If the gym is boring, the downtown area and bay-side are only a half hour walk away from campus.

Downtown and fairhaven are brimming with shops and cafes and other little activities. There are parks and hiking trails with walking distance.
