There is a lot to do in Wichita. There are some of the best bowling alleys I have seen, and Huge movie theatres. There is also a really cool zoo to go to and some fun night life for those older than 21.

WSU is not a college town and you definitely have to make your own fun here, but it's not terrible. There are the standard bowling alleys/movie theaters/etc, and Wichita actually has a not-so-terrible downtown scene on the weekends. We have two country bar/clubs that have nights geared towards college-aged people and those are always a pretty good time. The more involved you are on campus, the more fun you'll have and the more people you'll meet, obviously.

The campus is always offering grand events that take place year-round. They hold a lot of promotional celebrations with food, music, information booths and such. There's Hippodrome, a summer bonfire night, homecoming week, Humans vs. Zombies - a campus wide tag game, and they also have a lot of performing visitors such as comedians, artists, motivational speakers, and even magicians and hypnotists. Naturally, there are also athletic events and games to go to for all kinds of sports (although they don't have football, out of remembrance to the infamous plane crash years ago that killed the team; considerations for starting a new team are in debate however). Plus there's the Alley, an on-campus bowling alley complete with pool tables, darts, and video game consoles connected to the flat screens.

Be adventurous the area has much to offer if you get out and explore. Get involved on campus, especially if you are just out of high school.

There are many student organizations on campus of every interest, academically, culturally, and personal. There are student life centers where students can get a first hand look at all the organizations and their involvements to find out want interest you.
