    Great for these types of students

    Engineers mostly. I hear their Psychology department is good as well.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you plan to live on campus, Hamilton Hall is the best. It is right in the middle of all the campus, and is easily the nicest looking dorm building, is literally 10 feet from the student union (where you eat and such), and has a very quiet atmosphere. The only drawbacks are the shared bathroom and shower for each floor, but they have someone who cleans it every day. In the other buildings you are responsible to clean your own bathrooms. Each room there also comes with a fridge, microwave, bed, dresser, wardrobe, and desk. I have had SO many people tell me that had wished they chose hamilton hall instead of the woods Study before you take the COMPASS math test. Trigonometry and Algebra are in it. The score will determine where you fit in your math courses, and if you do well you can skip allot of courses. Also, get involved with a before school event. They have something called FOOT which is a hiking/camping thing. There is also AAP which is a review of mathematics for engineers right before the school year, which will help you test higher. ALL of my closer friends at this university are ones i met at AAP. i didnt go to FOOT, but i heard it was a great experience.

    a cheap school which has a nice campus with allot of things to do. has a wide choice of majors, and a very good engineering program.

    There is so much to do here, especially if you find the right housing and live on campus.

    I am working on a degree in Computer Engineering. I have already learned SO much in my first year there. One of the latest projects was to program a video game.

    Its great for everyone. Wright State has something for everyone.
    Tips for prospective students

    Make sure you go to your professor for help and ask plenty of questions. If the professor knows who you are then you will do better. Also make shure you go to every class, there is know better way to know the material than actually going to class.
    Bang for the buck

    I thought Wright State was not much better than a Community College because so many people went there from my school and it was a really easy school to get into. However, Wright State leads Ohio in many different areas throughout the nation and its a great education for the little amount you actually pay.
    Am enjoying being here

    A lot of my friends from my high school class go to Wright State so I know a lot of people here and there are a ton of places to hang out, both on and off campus. The Student Union has a ton of things, from playing pool to swimming in a pool. There is also a ton of restaurants in the area to eat at, of every variety. The Fairfield Commons Mall is also a great place to shop and spend your time.
    Am learning a lot

    You will learn a lot in one quarter. 10 weeks seems like a long time, but it will fly bye and you will have to keep up. By the time winter break comes along you will definitely be ready for the 6 weeks off! The teachers are willing to help whenever possible and are very eager to helping you succeed.

    Wright State is great for anyone who is looking to obtain a good education in a friendly environment. This school is nice for anyone who wants to go to college, even if they don't know what their major will be.
    Tips for prospective students

    The best thing to do is to apply for as many scholarships as possible. Also, never be afraid to ask for help from the staff if you need it. They are more the willing to help.
    Bang for the buck

    Wright State does a great job of utilizing your money to best suit your needs. You get help whenever you need it, and they never waste your money. They try their best to obtain money for you if you need it too.
    Am enjoying being here

    My favorite thing about Wright State is how friendly the people are. I see a lot of my friends from high school, and enjoy meeting new people! The staff are all very kind and easy to get along with.
    Am learning a lot

    Wright State has been very rewarding. I have yet to take a class where I have not learned a lot. The teachers try their best to help you out, and will more than likely explain any questions you have. Wright State is a wonderful place to learn about your intended major!

    Great for these types of students

    Everyone who enjoys a friendly atmosphere. Also students that want to be able to know their professors well. The nursing program is one of the best and the psychology program is pretty awesome, too.
    Tips for prospective students

    Live on campus your freshman year. I didn't and I regret it. I live on campus now and everything is just so much better. I am more involved, I don't have to make the 45 minute drive everyday, and I don't have to find a parking spot. Get involved. Most clubs are looking for new members constantly. Also being a member of clubs will look good on grad school applications if you plan on going there. The basketball games are probably the most fun thing to do on campus. People may say there isn't much to do, but they aren't looking very hard. If there is nothing to do there is a mall less than five minutes away, along with every restaurant chain you have ever heard of, and a movie theater, and a bowling alley nearby.

    It's just about (if not actually) the cheapest four year school in Ohio. For the price it's definitely the best education you are going to get.

    I love it here. Most of my friends complain about their schools doing this and that, but WSU really doesn't have much to complain about.

    I have learned so much in my time here at WSU. There are many different ways to learn, in class, in academic clubs and from talking to professors outside of class.

    Any type of student is welcome at Wright State! There isn't something different for every person and that is the one unique thing about Wright State!
    Tips for prospective students

    For prospective students, don't be afraid of how big campus and you'll make friends quickly. Many people will tell you not to take the UVC class that is a freshman intro class but that is the class that I made my first set of friends in. College does have it's responsibilties though, make sure to do all your homework and don't wait to study at the last minute!
    Bang for the buck

    I choose Wright State because of the great cost! I'm a commuter so it only cost me about $11,000 a year with tuition, food and book money! I would recommand this school to anyone who doesn't want a huge debt at the end of school.

    Wright State has an amazing campus. I enjoyed walking around campus in the fall and watching each trees leaves change and enjoying the people walking along too. It never seems to be over crowded any where. I also enjoy sitting in the quad and eating lunch when it's nice out.

    Wright State has great professors and classes are in great sizes. I haven't been in a huge class that the professor ignores you and they will help you when you need it.

    Whatever you do, get involved on campus! At the beginning of the year, check out all the student organizations, and if one looks interesting to you, don't be afraid to jump in! That's how you'll make friends on campus, and that's what makes your college experience worth while!

    Wright State is definitely less expensive than other universities I considered, but I'm so glad I chose it! I'm getting good quality of education, most of my professors have been wonderful, and the campus is great! I love knowing that I'm going to leave here with a degree, and not a massive amount of debt.

    There are so many ways to get involved on campus, you almost never have to be bored! With so many different clubs and organizations, there really is something for everybody! Whether you're looking for an extra-curricular that will look amazing on your resume, or you're just trying to do something fun and gain leadership experience, there's a group here for you to get involved in. There are always fun and interesting events going on around campus, like plays, talent shows, contests, concerts, games, etc. I love living on campus and being really involved. Also, my RA is really amazing and has helped bring the people on my floor closer together. I definitely feel like I'm getting the most out of my college experience!
    Am learning a lot

    So far, most of the classes I have taken here I have actually found at least somewhat interesting and applicable to real life. Even when you have to take classes that are outside of your main field of study, you're still learning things that will make you a more well-rounded individual. I have especially found the business classes informative and useful (business being my field of study). It makes me excited to get out there and start my career!

    College is NOT high school. You have to study and read a lot more in order to get by with a satisfying grade. You also have to know how to manage your time wisely and not procrastinate (I'm still getting adjusted to that one).

    Tuition is really cheap compared to other schools. But it is impossible to escape the expensive books and food.

    Although I do not live on campus, there is always something to get into while on campus. There are several different groups you can join, lots of places to go, there's a great variety.

    I am currently a freshman in her third quarter at WSU, and I love it! Not only have I learned a lot in my classes, I have also learned more about different cultures and social classes just by making new friends on campus. Every day I learn something new whether I'm in class or not.

    Tips for prospective students

    If you are planning on attending, don't wait until the summer before your semester starts to begin getting things ready to go. Work on finding as many scholarships as possible, visit the campus to decide which of the dorms is the best for you, and be sure to get all of your paperwork turned in. Most of all, don't forget to check your WSU e-mail after you are accepted. I did and was pushed really far behind schedule.

    I have a lot of money to come up with before I actually begin my classes but I am working my hardest to get it. I do not think WSU pricing is bad at all; it's actually lower than I expected it to be after visiting the campus.

    I like the idea that there are a lot of things to on campus. Leaving campus would be kind of inconvenient and most of the reason I decided to attend school here is because of the convenience.

    I am really hoping I will get a lot out of this college. I have heard nothing but great things about it and am very excited to attend.

    Campus Safety

    WSU has lit-up safety buttons along the side-walks that can be pressed to dispatch police in the case of an emergency. There is also a police escort service, to get someone to walk with you somewhere if you don't feel safe. Wright State is a really safe place, but I like that they have so many safety features in the case of an emergency.
    Greek Life

    Greek Life at Wright State is a really unique experience. Because it isn't a large college, the Greek's are a very tight knit community. The Greek organizations do a lot to help support school spirit, and help out in the community.
    Clubs and Activities

    There is so much to do on campus! There are religious organizations, sports organizations, and activity organizations. Beyond that though, there are more unique organizations like Juggling Club. You will find a club you fit in!
    Great for these types of students

    Wright State is great for any type of student looking for a medium sized college without getting lost in the shuffle. Every aspect of WSU is handicap friendly, and is known for this accessibility.
    Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    The tunnels are a life-saver in the winter! Most people don't like being outside in the cold, let alone for class. Wright State has a unique tunnel system that connects the basements of all the main buildings, which is a great help when the weather doesn't cooperate.

    As an in-state student, Wright State really does give you a good deal when it comes to the price. Everyone knows college is expensive, but the costs seem to be similar to other medium sized schools in the area.
    What to do for fun

    Get involved!! There are so many organizations on this campus, there's bound to be one that fits your interests. Outside of school, there are several malls and stores close-by.
    Food and Dining

    Wright State has two distinct dining halls, which most students really appreciate. The Union is considered the healthier option, with stir-fry, a large salad bar, a sandwich counter, and home-cooked food. The Hangar is more like a food court at the mall, with more fast-food options and a salad bar.
    Dorm Life

    Each of the dorms have their own positive and negative sides, but they're all really nice places to live. The Honors Dorms are really nice, but they're also the newest buildings. The Woods have a lot of buildings all together, which makes it really easy to meet people and make friends. Hamilton hall is very handicap accessible, and the closes to the main buildings.
    Academic Rigor

    Like every college, there are certain classes or professors that people struggle with. Wright State has an amazing Tutoring Services department, and all freshman get free tutoring! I think that's definitely a perk when you consider transitioning from high school to college.
    Tips for prospective students

    Figure out what questions you have about Wright State (about financial aid, living on campus, dining halls etc) and then go on the campus tour. The guide can help answer any questions you have, and help show you perks to Wright State you may not know!

    Wright State was the perfect size college for me; Big enough to get the real college life feel, yet small enough to feel like a tight knit community. The classes are really interesting, even the general education classes that are required for every major. I'd definitely recommend Wright State!

    I have not encountered anything that strikes me unusual around campus, it is a very diverse campus so a little bit of everything is to be expected.

    They have pool tables, ping pong tables, rock climbing, and a gym in the Student Union if you ever have some free time to kill.

    Few challenges if you do your work, and make sure you pay attention in class.

    Goes without saying, but read the syllabus and read before you come to class. Study for exams, tests, and midterms, maybe with a friend. Never talk in class to anyone other than the professor, very disrespectful.

    Very helpful staff that allows you to find whatever you are looking for on campus easily. Friendly professors, who have all created a detailed syllabus to complete courses. Very large classes, but very difficult to meet new people.

    Traditional students and non traditional students without kids.
    Tips for prospective students

    Apply early and pay attention to what you are really paying for and when. They'll charge you your first round of fees before your student loan money comes in based on what their estimation is, rather than reality and you will have to make up the difference. Parking is expensive so budget for it. Whenever possible buy your books online rather than in the bookstore its so much cheaper.
    Bang for the buck

    Wright State is really expensive and the fees seem to sneak up on you. I couldn't qualify for enough student loan money to completely cover my tuition, instead I'll have to pay $533 every quarter either in scholarships or out of pocket in order to just make tuition! That doesn't include books or parking!
    Am enjoying being here

    It is a beautiful campus with two dining facilities, one of which has fast food restaurants inside. The library is four stories plus a basement and I love to go to the top floor and study by a window for the lovely view. The instructors and guidance counselors are all very approachable and helpful. Their scheduling isn't very flexible, so its hard to get a class unless you are available mornings.
    Am learning a lot

    While this is my first quarter at Wright State I can already tell its a wonderful school. My Spanish course allows for testing into a higher level, or you can start at the beginning. All the professors are helpful and make it so you can learn what you need to learn.

    there are always campus police on patrol.

    not much in the area of greek life. as stated, wright state is a very young school and has yet to establish an extensive greek community. there are no fraternity/sorority houses, but there are plans for construction in the future.
    What to do for fun

    get involved with the activities that are offered and find something that helps you deal with your stress whether it's working out or playing video games.
    Food and Dining

    you'll never go hungry at wright state. there's always an eatery open and at numerous locations on campus. just outside campus there are many places to eat as well.
    Dorm Life

    there are rather nice dorms compared to other schools in the state of ohio--no community bathrooms.
    Academic Rigor

    it would be wise to attend classes and do a fair amount of studying regularly.

    I would highly recommend living on campus.

    Wright state has a great location in the city of Dayton/Fairborn area. It's an extremely large, beautiful, and diverse campus with much to offer in academics and activities. Wright State is a young college of only 47 years, but continues to grow and change.

    the campus is well secured with alarms in parking lots and if you are out late and need a ride from your car to your dorm they have campus police to drive you back.

    i've only been here about a year so i'm not really familiar with the ttraditions. i know they have white out parties where the fans wear all white to basketball games but that's all i know of.

    wsu is slightly expensive but if your determind to get a good education there are ways to help you pay for school. dozens of scholarhsips if you are persistne enough. the teachers are very helpful and strive to help you be successful.
    What to do for fun

    the fitness center at wsu is very nice. take advantage of their opportunities and get involved with intramurals and make friends.
    Food and Dining

    once again, i'm a commuter so i never really eat on campus. i have heard it was very good though.
    Dorm Life

    i never lived in wsu dorms but in my previous university i did. they were a blast and probably some of the best times of my life. i made lifelong friends and memories. i would strongly recommend staying in dorms for at least one to two years. it's so worth it.

    it's college so of course it's not going to be easy. but going to class, asking questions, and staying focused and on track with your course load you will be successful.

    study hard. college is a time to perhaps find yourself but also to get a good education and not waste money. so go to class, study hard, work hard, take advantage of your opportunites, and enjoy it.

    they (the residential services) try to do events on the weekends to entertain those living on campus.
    What to do for fun

    a lot of people leave for the weekends, because they find weekends boring. i stay most weekends, because i'd rather be bored at school than bored at home.

    the union market has excellent food, that is good and good for you. on campus food is kind of expensive though.
    Dorm Life

    honors is really nice, i currently live there. the only downside is the kitchen; you don't have one in room, but there is one on the second floor, only you have to call a day ahead to reserve it to be able to use it.
    Academic Rigor

    decently hard, but not so hard you have to stay up all night. unless you're an engineer, then maybe. (some of my engineering friends have done close).
    Tips for prospective students

    look into and visit the school, as well as any others you're applying to.get to know your teachers; they'll be more willing to let you slide on something if you are go their good side. that means go to class. let them know your name.

    There are a few fraternities and sororities on campus, and they often put on events on and around campus.

    If you put in some effort, you can find a group that matches your interests. Before the school year starts, all the organizations have tables in the student union so that would be a good time to shop around.

    If you're local and want to live at home while attending school, WSU would be a definite consideration. Also, if you did well in high school and are looking for a school that offers a lot of scholarship money for that, Wright State could be the place for you.

    WSU offers some good merit scholarships and is a good degree for the money.
    What to do for fun

    There are two good malls around, a movie theater, and a couple of clubs in downtown Dayton. Also, watch for activities put on by the university. Sometimes they show movies or throw parties. You can also catch a Wright State game during any given season. There is no football team, but basketball is the most popular sport here.
    Food and Dining

    There are two cafeterias on campus. One is a standard cafeteria and one is fast food restaurant options- Pizza Hut, Burger King, and Taco Bell.
    Dorm Life

    WSU is largely a commuter school, so you are not required to live in dorms at all.
    Academic Rigor

    You can determine how easy or difficult your education is here. There are a lot of options to fulfill different requirements and you can choose classes that are a challenge or ones that are an easy A. It's all up to you.
    Tips for prospective students

    Visit and make sure you like the campus and the dorms. Talk to an advisor, professor, or other representative of your program to make sure you have a basic understanding of the requirements as well as available internship for the future.     The safety on this campus is great. There are Wright State police that patrol at every hour of the night, there is a number to call in case of emergencies. Also, EVERYWHERE around campus there are bright blue lights that shine at night where there is an emergency phone. If you are being chased, you can easily spot one of these phones, pick up the phone, and you are directly connected to a dispatcher.
    Greek Life

    I have not pledged, nor do I know any people who have pledged, so I am unaware of how Greek life is. I DO know that the male fraternities put on great step shows.

    From my personal experience with the clubs here at Wright State, any of them are very unorganized. The plus is that some of them are still fun. However, I hear great things about some of the clubs I have not yet involved myself in.

    The food at Wright State is exceptional. There are a variety of places to eat. There is Taco Bell, Burger King, Pizza Hut, salad bars, etc. The only personal problem I have is that the healthier food options are limited. The salad bar is rather basic, and the fruit is never tasty.

    I currently live in the Honors Community dorms, and I love it. The atmosphere is always welcoming because there are so many different things to do. Each floor has a different theme and also accommodations. For example, 6th floor has the movie lobby, 2nd floor has the kitchen used for parties and barbeques, etc. The dorms aren't TOO far from campus, which is a plus.

    When it comes to the strictness of Wright State, it really depends on what class you're in, and what teacher you have. Most of the teachers I have experienced have be academically rigorous, but some for different reasons than others. Some have the students potential success in mind, and others, not so much.

    If you are planning to come to Wright State with a positive attitude, because even though college will be a challenge, the key to succeeding is approaching the negative with positive. Do not be afraid to ask questions, no matter what a teacher or peers tell you. Manage your time well.

    Wright State has almost every club you could imagine. They have clubs available for people who have common interests, which is referred to as the learning communities. They have sports clubs, academic clubs, clubs based on religion, and even LGBT-based clubs.     There are many things to do down at Wright State. At the recreation hall, one may find themselves simply going for a swim, working off some extra calories, or even taking the chance to climb the rock wall. Aside from the fun activities, Wright State also offers team sports such as soccer, baseball, swim, and they are newly introducing a football team this year!

    On campus there are many different places that you can eat, all providing very exceptional food. If you do not feel like having a bite on campus though, there is also a lot of different restaurants available in the vicinity. They also have their own School of Medicine which is quite convenient because the United States only has a limited number of those.     Campus safety is taken very seriously at Wright State, if anything happens on campus or even in surrounding areas that are not a part of campus, students get an email to their student email account from campus security explaining what happened and giving updates on the situation. As students we can also sign up for automated calls and texts when situations arise such as sever weather updates or general campus security. Safety escorts are available at all hours of the night is you don't feel safe walking across campus to or from your dorms. The safety escort van in a free service, all you have to do is call.

    The beauty of Wright State University is that is is only about 40 years old. When students go to large universities that have been around for a long time, they learn about the tradition and become a part of it.     The campus police are always patrolling the area and will come when called for any reason. There is a service that will come jump your car if the battery dies, or help change your tire--even in the middle of the night. Police will also provide short rides for students when they are afraid to walk somewhere in the early morning hours. Finally, there are panic buttons all over campus which will alert police to come to that location when set off.
    Greek Life

    There are so many sororities on campus my head spins when I start to hear the names. These sororities also do a lot of charitable events especially during breast-cancer awareness month in October.

    Wright State has so many different clubs: religious clubs like Crusade for Christ and the Atheist Club, science clubs for EVERY major, art club, theater, chorus, band, poetry societies, geography club, and even rainbow alliance for a supportive environment for students of any sexuality.

    Wright State is great for anyone. Diversity is well-accepted at Wright State. In fact, no matter who you are, Wright State's response will probably be, We have a club for that! Wright State also offers free counseling to students who are having trouble at home or at school.

    BURT or BART, depending on who you talk to, is a GIANT, red statue which is supposed to be an interpretation of the Wright Flyer. Ask other students what the shorthand names mean. Campus also has a modern art piece covering the topic of the fall of the twin towers in 2001. I believe the statue was actually made with pieces of the fallen buildings which brings a personal touch. The best place on campus is Allyn Hall, which is the home of the Air Force ROTC program. The building has an outdoor deck where students can go to eat and is surrounded by a pool of water which is beautiful in the summer and the fall.
    Bang for the buck

    Wright State tuition is only about $8000 a year. The education received is phenomenal and the experience of diversity cannot be matched by any other place. Wright State offers many opportunities to its students and has a fairly nice population of students. This college is well-worth the money paid to go there.

    Wright State constantly has events going on. Students will often receive emails on seminars, magic shows, Fall Fest, May Daze, the haunted trails, Multicultural Halloween, and more! Plus, campus is surrounded by plenty of stores for shopping!

    Wright State has some amazing choices for food. The Hanger has a Pizza Hut, a Burger King, and a Taco Bell, as well as a sandwich shop, a salad bar, and some premade foods to offer. The Union Market has several different types of food to offer: subs, stir-fry, country cooking, burgers and fries, pizza, and salad, fruit, and premade items. The only issue with Wright State's food, and the reason I rated it so averagely is that the prices can be ridiculously. I used to buy a large salad and a bottle of soda for lunch and would wind up paying eight dollars! That was my freshman year and prices have only gone up since then (I am a senior now)!
    Dorm Life

    The dorms at Wright State are great, for the most-part. The worst place to live is the Woods and this place should be avoided at all costs. During the year, the Honors dorms had very few incidences, while the Woods had the police called there a lot.
    Academic Rigor

    Wright State is a pretty tough school--not unfairly so in most cases. Most classes follow the material designated in the description. So, you'll never come to a class to find that the teacher doesn't teach any of the material you NEED to know!

    Make sure to visit your academic adviser! They will be able to advise you every step of the way so that you can get your degree as painlessly as possible. Also, be sure to make friends. Surrounding yourself with good influences is a big key to success in college.

Wright State is also protected and covered by the City of Fairborn's full time and fully staffed fire department.     I honestly didn't live in the dorms. But i did live in an off campus apartment that is right across the street from campus. But my experience It wasn't good at all. They managers were not professional and they charged too much.

    It's Dayton Ohio, the highest crime city in the state of Ohio, but that aside the campus is relatively safe and usually has police patrolling it in the evenings.

    It is a very excepting school, and would be great for minority students and Students of differing Sexual preference, or religion.

    It is a smaller University but is also more affordable than Universities like OSU, and Cincinnati. The Quality of professors is pretty good and overall I think it's a good school for the cost.

    It is a commuter campus for the most part, so on-campus activities are hard to find. If you join a club though you can usually find something to fill your time.
    Food and Dining

    The variety isn't the greatest but it is affordable as long as you are at the off-campus restaurants. On campus food will cost you and arm and leg.

    If you live on campus make sure you like your roommates. I personally couldn't wait until I moved out and got my apartment.

    Depending on your major the workload can be high or low. I have friends who are business majors and they have very little work. In my own major I have a descent amount of school work each semester.

    Never felt unsafe around Wright State, it almost feels as though the students are also very vigilant of the surroundings. Very comfortable when walking around the campus or dorm areas.

    My current rating is based upon the things I've heard from others who have joined clubs on campus. I've personally decided to devote my first year on campus to my studies. The Nursing program that I attend to enter is one not to be taking lightly. As I enter into my second year at Wright State I definitely plan to participate in some of the clubs on campus.

    There are always things posted for on campus activity, group functions, meet & greets. The bulletin boards keep you well informed of all things you could imagine. You'll never feel left out of anything!

    I would tell all prospective students to visit the campus prior to the start of school to familiarize themselves. Meet with a college advisor, you make think you don't have any questions until you sit down and they go over your studies, requirements and expectations. The questions will come!

    I actually feel safe on campus because we have a campus police force. They send out emails anytime anything happens on this campus. I see wright state police on campus driving around all day sometimes they will stop talk to us and make sure everything is good and nothing usual is happening.

    There are many campus activities always going on for fun. Posters, e-mails, students and the radio station all spread news of what is going on around there. Sporting events, dances, or even activities within majors or groups add excitement to every weekend.

    The food on campus is very very good. The prices aren't so favorable I might add. Whether you prefer the fast food chains like Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, or Burger King, there are also many other cafeteria options that change every day.     Throughout my student career all of my classes at the university have been very challenging. The professors have all been understanding, friendly, and inspiring. I love the biology major I am undergoing because I find all the information I'm learning about exciting.

Finding people pursuing the same major as you will make life much easier because they actually understand the overall stress and classes you are going through.     Wright State is really quite cheap compared to most colleges and since it accepts almost all transfer credits from Sinclair University which is like 15 minutes away, you can actually attend both to a degree and pay even less.

    There are a lot of parties going on, departmental events, and just a bunch of activities. And there are Fraternities and Sororities.

    The cafeteria is quite extensive and has many different cultural foods. Also there is a separate area with places like Taco Bell and Wendy's right on campus.

    For the most part the difficulty of classes depends on what you take. I'm about to take Calculus III, Differential Equations with Matrix Algebra, Applied Optics, and Introduction to Modern Physics as a first year so my classes are going to be really rigorous. But you don't have to take a bunch of hard classes.

    You should apply fairly early since most of the academic scholarships have a deadline in February. Take advantage of free tutoring for first year students. psychology 1010, super easy. Have not shown up since first week of school and have an A in the ninth week.

    I really enjoy the Physics Department here at Wright State. The department is not huge and so the professors are readily available and most of the classes are quite small. Also with Wright-Patt Air Force base so close, there are many internship opportunities for physics and engineering majors

    Another thing I praise WSU on. I feel very safe at Wright State. Safety measures include a 24/7 tunnel system that is patrolled, over 50 emergency call lights around campus, WSU police patrol throughout campus and around the dorms, safety escorts, and overnight safety shuttles around campus.
    Greek Life

    I chose not to go Greek so I don;t have much insight on this but WSU does have Greek life. There are 11 chapters I believe and I do praise WSU for their strict Greek rules. You don't have to live in the Greek house to be a part of Greek life and hazing is a HUGE no-no at WSU. Consequences include the demolition of the Greek chapter and immediate deferral from WSU with no tuition refunds.
    Clubs and Activities

    Just take a quick trip down the tunnel between the MedSci and Fawcett buildings. There is a whole hallway mural that advertises the variety of clubs and organizations at Wright State. Even with the hundreds of pre-existing clubs, if you cant find something that sounds interesting to you just grab 8 of your friends and start your own club!

    Anyone, honestly. There is so much to do and so many organizations there is no reason anyone should feel left out. WSU is an extremely diverse campus and is also been rated one of the most handicapped-accessible campus around. Something we are very proud of.

    As a college freshman I'm not aware of any weird traditions but the most unusual thing about our campus is the tunnel system. There is an underground tunnel system that connects all but a few buildings around campus that is very convenient during the unpredictable Ohio weather and at night.

    WSU has a lot of resources that make the tuition worthwhile. The campus is nice, there are plenty of student resources including on campus health clinic, a pharmacy that was just opened in 2012, counseling and legal services, and many other things.
    What to do for fun

    There is always something going on at WSU. The 2 main activities organizations are SWAT and the UAB. They are always putting on event such as movie nights, laser tag, holiday parties, game nights, etc. They also host a lot of events including performers such as comedians, hypnotists, singers, and authors. The Nutter Center also has some good concerts and is home to WSU basketball. Go Raiders!
    Food and Dining

    The food here is pretty good. Lots of options for your dining dollars (meal plan). You can use them in the Student Union Market where the food options are pretty wide, the Hangar which is primarily fast food such as Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, BK, and Skyline Chili along with a sandwich shop and a salad bar. You can also use your dining dollars at the C-Store, the Bridge Cafe, the Wright Cup & Wright Cafe, and also for Donatos Pizza delivery.
    Dorm Life

    Dorm life here is great. I live in the Woods and I love it. It's a really pretty environment, lots of resources such as a nearby convenience store (C-Store) and the Bridge Cafe. There are also picnic tables, grills, a basketball court, a sand volleyball court, and the hot dog stand that is set up a few times a week is pretty yummy.
    Academic Rigor

    This honestly depends on the class and how much effort you put into it. Some classes if you miss just one lecture, it is really challenging to get caught up. Other classes have optional lectures and are pretty easy to pass as long as you keep up with the online work / studying.

    Make sure to look for books early or you'll end up having to buy new. The bookstore's books are overpriced and you can find them cheaper online if you look early enough.

    I don't think any school can get five stars for safety because one can never be sure what might happen. However, nothing is more comforting than the blue lights that mark emergency kiosks all over campus. A call for help is a short distance away at any given moment in time.

    I recently saw the first recruitment and Greek life is overwhelming. Also, there is a strong emphasis on scholarship and service, so the Greek groups often collaborate with the honors organizations to encourage this bond.

    There are clubs for virtually every religion, profession, race, and general interest. Language clubs, honors organizations, and so much more frequently meets right on campus.

    The engineering and business programs seem to be growing non stop. I am part of the Liberal Arts college working towards a Spanish major, and interaction with international students is at the tip of your fingers if you enjoy embracing unique cultures from around the world.

    There are countless nightlife options (which is not my thing). The mall is great, and just hanging out with friends in public areas or going to the student union and taking advantage of the unlimited recreational opportunities is great.

    The food is pricey, but there are plenty of healthy (and unhealthy) options. The best aspect is if you can get a good break, you can head to the mall and get some good food.

    Granted this is NOT in any way a party school, I don't get too bored. My dorm sometimes has things to do, like movie nights or little get togethers. There are other events on campus, like human bowling or festivals. Basically, the fun is where you make it. Go out, meet people and explore!
    Food and Dining

    When I was moving onto campus, I was worried the food was going to be awful. However, I proved wrong. There are a LOT of dining options on campus and most of them are pretty reasonably priced. The Union Market (located in the student union) has a sub place, pizza and calzones, a stir fry place, a burger shop, soup and salad and a place called Chef's Kitchen which is the most expensive and has the nicest food. In the Union Market, there are also frozen meals and snacks you can buy at similar prices to convenient stores or gas stations. The other large dining facility on campus is The Hangar. In the Hanger, you will find Pizza Hut Express, Taco Bell Express, Burger King Express, Skyline Express, The Runway Deli and Simply To-Go(pre-made sandwiches, salads and sushi). There are also a few coffee shops around campus (In the library, student union). There is also a small cafe that has items similar to Starbucks. In other words - You won't go hungry at Wright State!
    Dorm Life

    Hamilton Hall is perfect for me! It's mostly quiet and everyone I've met here are super nice. We're extremely close to the Student Union and right in the middle of campus. The RAs hold movie nights and other fun things to do if you're ever bored. There's a computer lab in our lobby, in case you don't have a computer or just want out of your room for a while. Most floors have a lounge with TVs in them and you can almost always find someone to chat with. :)
    Academic Rigor

    I'm a freshman taking nothing but general courses, which are all cake so far. I can't say much for the higher level courses.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you plan to go to Wright State and want to live on campus, choose Hamilton Hall! It's great here. We're like ten feet away from the building where the cafeteria is (and the tunnel system! It's January and I never wear a coat because I barely have to go outside!)

    This is my first semester at WSU and I love it so far. The campus has a very convenient tunnel system which connects all the buildings (expect the dorms) and allows you to easily travel from class to class. I've made a lot of friends so far and enjoy all my classes.

    I am in the modern language department and I love my professors. However, the advising department for the College of Liberal Arts leaves things to be desired. Overall, WSU is a commuter school, so if you want to be involved and meet people, you will have to join clubs, teams or Greek life, because just going to class won't do it!

    Because of the commuter school status, the residential services office is putting a lot of effort in fostering the on-campus feeling of community.

    There is a decent choice of food; from fast-food to healthy choices.

    The school is a great commuter school. If you want great dorm life, this isn't the best university to attend.

    The sciences seemed to be rigorous. But I would say rigor is moderate for other fields.

    The school has many resources to aid in your success. Make sure to seek them out. There is no excuse for failure.

    I advise you to try and make as many friends as possible and explore campus. I also encourage you to get as involved as possible.

    I find Wright State University to have many available options for students world wide. The professors at the university are very knowledgeable and willing to help if help is needed. Lastly the professors are very knowledgeable of what they teach and will try many options to help you understand anything that a student might have trouble understanding.

    Campus Safety

    I feel very safe on campus because of the emergency post that are every so many feet and the fact that there are usually two cops patrolling at night around the dorms.
    What to do for fun

    Join clubs, shop at the local mall, go to events held on campus, hockey games, and hang out with friends/

    After the first couple weeks you get tired of the same food but its nice that they have healthier options than just fast food.
    Dorm Life

    I became great friends with almost everyone on my floor and we became like a family! I feel that I have had the ultimate freshman year experience.
    Academic Rigor

    Meet with your advisors to make sure you are taking the classes you need for your major. otherwise I found my classes to be challenging at times but definitely enjoyable.
    Tips for prospective students

    Take UP classes in high school so you can be ahead once you enter college, join clubs, and STUDY!

    Campus Safety

    Wright State is not located in a high crime area. The campus also has it's own police force, and you usually see at least one police officer on patrol everyday. The officers on campus will also escort you to your car if you are on campus late at night and feel unsafe.
    Great for these types of students

    Wright State is well known for it's Engineering, Nursing, Theater, Business, and Education programs. Wright State has also been nationally recognized for the services they provide to students who have a disability.
    Bang for the buck

    Wright State provides some of the best education you can get at a price that is a lot more affordable then the larger universities such as Ohio State or the well known Ivy league schools.
    What to do for fun

    The Nutter Center is always selling tickets for sports games and other shows such as the Cirque du Soleil in the summer. The theater program on campus also performs shows throughout the year. There are also a lot student organization and activities going that are sometimes not widely known.
    Food and Dining

    The food at Wright State is quite good. There a couple basic fast food staples available on campus, but for those more health conscious individuals there are some great options that allow you to see your food being prepared in front of you.
    Dorm Life

    Wright State despite it's claims is primarily a commuter school, so it may not have as much too do on campus as some other well known schools (such as Ohio State). But for being a commuter school it does still offer a large variety of things for students to do, you just sometimes have to look a little harder for these activities.
    Academic Rigor

    Wright State's Academics is top notch but the workload is not too strenuous that your are always bogged down with homework. The professor are very knowledgeable about there subject and are always willing to help.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you wish to be accepted to Wright State be sure to have good grades and a diverse background. Make sure you also fill out your FAFSA on time, because otherwise you will not receive any scholarship or grant funds.

    Wright State is a great college for students who want to have a large variety in options for majors, but do not want to become lost within a huge student population. The University is nationally recognized for the services they offer to students who have a disability no matter what kind. It is also very affordable for those students who want to go for more than just an associates degree.

    Campus Safety

    On campus police are prompt and always available. There are emergency buttons located everywhere on campus. If an incident was to occur on campus, a mass email giving the details of the event and a description of the suspect is sent to every student to inform us and to ensure our safety. Also precautionary tips are given by the on campus police.
    Greek Life

    Wright State is a young school and our Greek life isn't as strong as many of the traditional post secondary colleges. Recently many new lines have crossed and our Greek Life is growing. There are many events in which the Greeks will come and participate and even host. There are stroll offs and parties.
    Clubs and Activities

    There are many clubs and activities that any student can join outside of sports teams that you can join. Once you become a part of your major you can join clubs such as Psych club.
    Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    On campus just outside the dormitory area, there is a Catholic Church that many students attend. They have recently reconstructed the building and have expanded.
    Bang for the buck

    Cost is a huge factor when determining what college to attend. Here at Wright State I don't feel as if I had to pay for anything that I couldn't afford outside of tuition itself. If you don't have a laptop, you can sign one out of the library for 4 hours for free (Mac or PC). A parking pass for the entire year is around $100.
    What to do for fun

    First weekend for the freshman are full of fun activities to attend. Every year Wright State has a Boogie on the Bricks event. This is held on the quad on most years but this is subject to change. There is music, food, and lots of people! Also many on campus events include comedians, partying and my person favorite the hypnotists.
    Food and Dining

    Dining dollars are automatically put onto your Wright 1 card from your financial aid. This money being automatically budgeted throughout the semester gives students the ability to be worry free of having to provide food for themselves. Donatos Pizza allows students to use their swipes to buy any food item on their menu. The Hangar, located in Allyn Hall has food services such as Taco Bell, Burger King, a Deli, Pizza Hut and Skyline Chili. You can also find donuts, bagels, and hot cereal in the morning hours. The Student Union food court gives students the option to eat meals that are more home cooked. Pepsi products are available all over campus. Also select vending machines throughout campus allow students that have flex dollars on their Wright 1 card to swipe and receive food.
    Dorm Life

    In the dorms you meet a lot of new people and experience those first steps of an emerging adult. The dorm life gives you a sense of freedom without having to feel the pressures of adult responsibilities.
    Academic Rigor

    Courses are not hard. Put in the work, attend classes and achieving the grades you desire should not be a problem.
    Tips for prospective students

    Have fun, enjoy your college years, create memories, make new friends and stay on top of your studies. Time management is key for any student planning to attend post secondary schooling.

    Wright State is a well integrated diverse school that allows students from all over to meet new people from different backgrounds. Though it is a commuter school, many on-campus events give students that live on-campus an opportunity to be involved. Wright State is in a location that I would consider very safe!
