Future students should attend all classes because Xavier has an FE policy which they strongly enforce. If you have any questions or concerns don't be afraid to email or go meet with your Professors. Students should also get to know and meet regularly with their adviser to make sure that they are on the right academic track.

The most important thing to remember when attending Xavier University of Louisiana, or any other university, is to stay focused and goal oriented. Procrastination is a big problem for many college students, and you never want to fall behind. Always do your best, and always be on time.

Please take a tour of the campus before you come here. I made the mistake of going with a blind perspective. I would suggest to utilize the campus resources as much as possible.

Prospective students should come ready to work, and on this I place emphasis. Take note that I am writing this from the perspective of a science major, but the volume of work that must be done throughout the semester is quite large and can at sometimes seem unbearable. However, you should not let this put you off. Xavier is a great school and the loads of work are only present to ensure that you know the information. Push through and keep on top of all homework and assignments, and in the end you are sure to be thankful. Another topic I would like to place emphasis on is, study. Be sure to keep on top of all information learned by studying on the regular. It is easier said than done, but the best method is to review information on the daily in order to keep it fresh. This is for the reasons that information tends to build off of previous topics and if you do not learn the basics, it is more difficult to understand concepts learned later. The information is crucial also because of quizzes known and unknown which are serious business. They may not be worth many points but they are quite frequent and will add up either helping or hindering your grade. One other thing to be aware of is your scheduling. Be sure to get a copy of the course catalog and do your own scheduling. Otherwise your classes will be randomly selected leaving you more susceptible to mistakes which can cause major problems in the future. So, be sure to double check your schedule to ensure you are in appropriate classes. For additional support, it would be wise to make an appointment with an advisor from the head of the department of your intended major.
