Categories Comments Great for these types of students Xavier University is a Jesuit college, but they are always accepting of other religions. The classes in no way effect anyone's religious status. It is a very great school for anyone.
Tips for prospective students I suggest taking all the opportunity that you can your first year to get to know people and know the school. Sign up for a club that you are interested in to find a group of friends that share your same interests.
Bang for the buck The only downfall of Xavier University is the cost of tuition and other fees. If one is coming from a family without a lot of financial support it is difficult to pay. I have two jobs to help with paying for college. I believe that the experience I am getting at Xavier is well worth it.
Am enjoying being here The experience of college life at Xavier University is superior. I can not imagine myself at another college that will provide me with the same joy that I get at Xavier. The students are great and the green space provides an excellent place to meet new people and play.
Am learning a lot The classes are small and professors are dedicated to giving a one on one experience with the students. I have never been turned down by a professor to meet for further instructions after class. Professor seem to really enjoy their time at Xavier University which drives them to provide superior knowledge.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Xavier University is great for just about anyone, but to be more particular, it is great for those who may need extra help and tutoring, those who need help trying to manage their time wisely, those who want to succeed in life, and those who want to have an unforgotten and remarkable college life, both academic and social.
Tips for prospective students Some tips you may find helpful may be: Study hard Time Management Get involved on and off campus. Make sure you have some free time so you can rest your brain, because you do not want to stress too much. Search for all the help you can possibly get. Get good rest, especially before a test. Find something that will keep you motivated no matter what goes on in your life. Make sure you keep a healthy diet and drink lots of water READ THE BIBLE AND PRAY Have Faith. Try to relax, do not stress. Run toward your dreams.
Bang for the buck Although Xavier is a great school, it is also an expensive school. It may be said that if you have low income and financial aid then you may not be able to attend this school. I am the first generation to attend school in my family. I come from a single parent home and have a 17 year old baby sister who will be expecting soon. I always had a dream to become a doctor and attend college with no doubt in my mind that it would be impossible. My first semester of college was a struggle for my mother and myself with the tuition; however, we made it through. Xavier University may be expensive but it is worth the struggle in the long run. I pray everyday that God helps my mother and myself have the money to pay for my schooling at Xavier University. With God and my mother on my side, I will make this tuition pay work. Because one has low income or little financial aid coming in, do not have any doubt that you cannot attend here because with hard work it is possible.
Am enjoying being here Enjoying is not the word I want to use. If I could think of a better word I would use it. Xavier University is a great school to enjoy your college life and to receive a degree at. The professors are great and very nice to all the students. They are always willing to help you and can work around your schedule if you cannot attend their office hours. The people here are awesome and it makes it even more remarkable to be around people who are pressing their way to success. Party's! We have them. Its all apart of the college life; however, the students here make sure they put their studies before the parties which I enjoy a lot.
Am learning a lot I am majoring in Natural Sciences at Xavier University. They provide a mass load of science help and much more, such as, Supplemental Instructions and tutoring. Supplemental Instructions are sessions in which upperclassman teach and review material from the lecture. They provide these sessions for Biology and Chemistry, three times a week. It has been calculated; those who attend the sessions on regular basis earn higher grades on tests. They also have free tutoring for just about any subject and all the professors have office hours in which you may attend for more individual help. If you want to learn, want the help, and want to succeed in life, Xavier University may be the perfect route to start.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Leaders Volunteers Adventurous Active Excited and anyone who just wants to go to school and make friends that will last a lifetime
Tips for prospective students It's a great school, but you have to know which teachers to get. The campus is beautiful with great architecture. The teachers actually care about the students and are always willing to help. The classes are all pretty small I have yet to have a lecture bigger than 50 students, and that was a science course.
Bang for the buck Sure it's a little pricey, but what good school isn't. This school offers alot of computer rentals and printing for free, along with tutoring for just about any class you could think of.
Am enjoying being here There are lots of clubs you can join and tons of leadership opportunities along with volunteer opportunities. It is very easy to make friends and to talk to just about everyone.
Am learning a lot The teachers really give time to the students to listen to the questions and do what they can to help you understand. All of the profeesors have office hours that are set and by appoitment.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students ANYONE! Xavier is very diverse and usually you will not see one nationality forming a clique or anything like in high school. You are accepted no matter what and can be friends with whoever you want.
Tips for prospective students Enjoy the uniqueness of Xavier! From the interactions with professors to the church services to the intense basketball games, Xavier is a community wishing to include everyone so that you may have the time of your life.
Bang for the buck Xavier is pretty expensive. Sometimes, you will get professors that do not fulfill your expectations based on what you are paying. Nevertheless, I would not go anywhere else, even for free.
Am enjoying being here Most definitely! Since Xavier is a pretty small school, I have met a ton of people. There is a lot of work for your classes, but it is like that everywhere. What matters is what you can do outside of class. Xavier has so many opportunities for involvement and lasting friendships.
Am learning a lot Last year, my rating would not have been this high. Now, as a sophomore, I am seeing more and more connections between classes which is incredible. Who knew biology and theology had similar concepts?

Categories Comments Great for these types of students - people who like getting to know their professors and having their professors know them - people who may need extra help and explanations from their professors - students who enjoy knowing people on campus and actually being able to see them on a daily or weekly basis without having to make an appointment with them - you will see friends every day, either going to class, coming from the dorms, the cafeteria, etc. - people who enjoy participating in a ton of activities without necessarily having the obligation of having to attend meetings or hold a leadership position, they are available, but there is so much going on that if you are busy, you can still participate - people who enjoy a small campus where everything is close but not super close - people who enjoy school spirit (THERE IS SO MUCH!!)
Tips for prospective students I would tell a prospective student to check it out a few times. Go on a tour, and stay with a student. I would recommend going to a class or two to see how the classes truly function. I would suggest that a prospective student go out on a weekend with a student to see what the social life is like outside of the academia. Check out the student center, Gallagher Student Center (GSC), during the day to see the dynamics of the school because GSC is truly the hub of the campus. There is a pub/burger joint, subway, a coffee shop, three levels of study area, career services, interfaith offices, and so much more. Also, see what the core values are of the school and look through the website to see if those core values, and the opportunities offered through the school are the same as what you value and are looking for.
Bang for the buck I love Xavier. There is definitely room for growth and change, but taht is true with any school. I love the atmosphere of campus and the faculty truly care about the students. The small class sizes enable the professors to know students by not just their names but their personalities as well. At the same time, it is for the student to take the initiative to seek out the professor.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being on the campus. There are always familiar faces where ever I go, and that is something that I really like and appreciate. It is easy to meet people and to make friends. Parallel to that, by meeting those new people it becomes very easy to get involved with anything you want. I would say one of the downfalls is that there is not a lot of diversity on campus. There are a lot of opportunities to participate in programs that relate to diversity but as far as the actual amount of diversity on campus with relation to students, there is not much.
Am learning a lot I would give this section a relatively high rating. In high school I felt as if I did not need to work that hard for my grades but at the same time, I was not retaining any of the information. At Xavier, the classes are more difficult, but it is worth it because during the semester I was able to recall information from early on in the semester and apply it to what we were learning towards the end. It is a really awesome feeling when you actually know what you are talking about. Another aspect of learning that I would also give a high rating relates to the social aspects of college. I have become involved with several clubs and organizations at Xavier relating to peace and justice issues, campus ministry, interfaith community, etc. There are always programs being put on by these organizations as well as many others every day. It is so great to be able to go any where on campus and see and learn something. There is always something going on and there is always something new.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Xavier University is great for any student that is wanting and willing to work for their education. As well as for the student who is eagered to be a well rounded contributor to society.
Tips for prospective students A tip for prospective students. What ever university you decide to matriculate through make sure you are fully prepared to manage your school work, relationships, and extracurriculars. I like to think that college is a lot like high school but with homework on steroids and ten times more responsiblity.
Bang for the buck The million dollar question, or should I say the roughly $37,820 question. You definitely get all that you pay for through superb living quarters, an infinite amount of campus activities and the top of the line degree.
Am enjoying being here The aura at Xavier is a welcoming, nurturing and empowering. Who wouldn't want to be apart of the musketeer family?
Am learning a lot If you are Looking for a School that will challenge you academically, look no further, Xavier University is a perfect match! The course riggers from English 101 to Molecular Biology will prepare you for anything that you can fathom. I am learning more than my brain can handle and the quality of higher education can get no better.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This college is great for students who want to become a doctor and willing to work hard to get to that place.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to work hard and study. You have to also talk to upper classman to see who to take because there are some problems at Xavier like lack of understanding due to accents.
Bang for the buck Although it may not seem that it is worth it, but in reality it is. Xavier has taught me a lot of different things. The education you are paying for is worth it in the long run because Xavier has this way of making you do your best. Every grade you get you have to earn it.
Am enjoying being here Xavier is a hate or love school honestly. The school has hardly any extracurriclur activities, but they make up with events that scheduled throughout the semester. The environment is great! Everyone around you is positive and willing to help with whatever problem you may have. Furthermore, waking up to the beautiful campus is also a plus.
Am learning a lot At Xavier you will learn a lot about yourself and about your major. You have to constantly study as usual. Xavier have different programs around campus that would help you such as writing centers, math centers, chemistry centers, and etc.

Categories Comments Campus Safety really good police is everywhere
Greek Life only business fraternities
Great for these types of students all types, but more if you want a good career
What to do for fun Join clubs, go in out in this bus that the school has to send students to malls and those places, or have a commuter friend.
Food and Dining Food places, there is a subway, a chinese place, a bar, a european food place and a pizza place inside the recreation building. In that building there is also a couple of pool tables and some other games. There is a currito in a building where the main cafeteria and some dorms are. There will be more places opening there, I think food places. There are coffee emporiums in the business building (which is beautiful), and recreational building.
Dorm Life Some dorms are very expensive, but very nice. The surrounding neighborhood is not good, but there are emergency phones all around campus so police will serve as company to wherever you have to go. There is a parking place for residents right outside their dorms. people in charge of taking care of the dorms are not so estrict. I know that people gather around even at 4 am in the dorms and they are not told anything. They do get written up if there is alcohol.
Academic Rigor Some classes are challenging like business classes, science labs, and english classes are tedious, but hang in there, there is help for everyone. There are labs that help you with papers and math and science and eccon, and just about everything. Help is there you just have to go for it.
Tips for prospective students -be ready to be challenged -don't expect to party every day, Xavier is not much of a party school. -join in clubs, and programs get involved, makes it all a lot more fun. -just because the class is easy don't be lazy, do your work good and talk to your professors. They are very helpful, and if you are a point away from an A, they will give it to you if they notice you are interested.
In three sentences A very welcoming school. Many programs help you adapt better to the college life and all of its aspects. Great professors and challenging classes.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Love a small community where it's easy to get to know people. Want a more isolated campus that's away from the city center. Want challenging academics.
Tips for prospective students Make friends early. Even if you're not a partier, go out. It's how everybody meets each other, and even if you decide to stop going out later, you'll thank yourself for the friends you made early on.
Bang for the buck You get a great education and a wonderful support staff for your money, but it's expensive and can definitely dent your pocket book. More than the tuition though, it's the living expense of housing, a meal plan, etc that really gets you.
Am enjoying being here Xavier's campus is small and close knit. Always welcoming, but I have often found it too small. It's a challenge to get off campus if you don't have a car, and there's little to do within walking distance.
Am learning a lot Teachers here are wonderfully helpful. They are always willing to make time for you. Small class sizes ensure you never get lost and enables the teachers to help you stay on track.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Xavier is great for almost anyone. If you're looking for a small, nice campus, small classes, a welcoming environment, and a place to show off your school spirit, then Xavier is for you.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! It makes college so much more enjoyable and you will make a ton of friends. Go to the basketball games, the late night movies, or whatever the SGA is offering. Be sure to communicate with your professors. They put themselves out there for a reason. Talk to them during their office hours, over email, or before or after class. And definitely be sure to speak up in class. Professors tend to make participation a part of your grade.
Bang for the buck Xavier is a bit pricey, but it is worth it. The education you will receive is fantastic. If you read about past alums, you'll see that many people who have graduated from Xavier have great jobs. Xavier offers tutoring if you need a little extra help. They have math and writing labs if you need help with your math class or with writing a paper.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love it at Xavier. It is such a great atmosphere. Everyone is welcome and they do not judge you. There is usually a lot of fun events during the semester.
Am learning a lot At my high school, most of my classes were easy A's. At Xavier, you have to work and study hard. I am definitely learning a lot because of the professors. They are informative, explain everything well, and love what they are doing. They try their best to be open to students in case anyone needs help.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Anyone who has an open mind!
Tips for prospective students Don't listen to people when they say college was easier than high school. Sure, you have a lot of freedom and choices, but the material in the classroom is very hard, and you usually don't have homework. You take tests, and that is your grade. Don't slack off or get behind in classes, it won't be good for you in the future.
Bang for the buck Xavier is very pricey, but you really are getting what you are paying for. When you go out in the real world and apply for jobs you're going to get a job over other people simply for the fact that you have a degree from Xavier. It might sound mean to others, who are going to community colleges or something of the sort, but it's the reality of the situation. It'll definitely benefit you in the future if you pick Xavier, and want a good job.
Am enjoying being here Xavier is just the right size. You have a closeness with people which makes you feel like you're part of a family, and you have plenty of opportunity to meet new people, enjoy sporting events, concerts, and just overall have a lot to do! Living on campus is an experience I wouldn't pass up either, it truly gives you the full college experience!
Am learning a lot Classes are small, and professors have more time to focus on things that you might have trouble with understanding, or would like to go over again. They also all have office hours where they are more than willing to help you learn a concept. Also, they offer great programs such as TRIO, tudors, writing/math centers, and so much more.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Xavier is great for almost all students, especially people who like to know everyone. You will know so many people around campus, and if you don't like that, don't come to Xavier! GO XU!
Tips for prospective students Xavier is a little more challenging than other schools, so you need to know how to balance out your schoolwork and hanging out with friends. But after the first year flies by, you won't ever want to leave!
Bang for the buck Xavier is a little pricey, but so worth it! The new dorms are AMAZING and the new buildings are such great learning and studying environments. For finals week, I practically lived in the new buildings. Also, there is so much stuff you can use for free while at school. Of course this comes out of your tuition money, but so worth it! All of the free printing, free book use, free internet use, it is all worth the money!
Am enjoying being here I have never had such a fun year. I have made so many friends and am always doing stuff with them. Xavier provides so many things to do around and off campus each and everyday. Every weekend there is always something going on so you know that you will never be bored around campus!
Am learning a lot I have never enjoyed learning as much as I am at Xavier. I have learned so much in my first year and want to keep on learning! I actually enjoy going to class now.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for students who like a challenge, but also like to have fun, participate with other students and the community, and enjoy their selves.
Tips for prospective students Search for plenty of scholarships and grants, and be prepared for an in depth, broad learning experience.
Bang for the buck Quite expensive, but definitely worth it. It is a very respectable school, with a great reputation and wonderful education and career opportunities.
Will enjoy being here There are a lot of clubs to join, things to do, and places to go. Cafes are restaurants are located on campus, as well as a theater, volleyball court and basketball court next to dorms, and even the gym where their big games take place. Students get discounts and sometimes even free tickets to these games. Great architecture and a lot of space. It's like a city inside a city.
Will learn a lot Professors are very dedicated, and will stay to help with any questions. Classes are very small, and I hear the work is challenging and keeps you interested.

Tips for prospective students Go to office hours, Supplemental Instruction, or tutoring if needed Go over class notes everyday Get a study group together if that's how you study Make time for fun things
Bang for the buck Xavier's tuition is expensive but think about what you are paying for. You are getting small class sizes (my largest class has been 75 students), personal attention from professors, a beautiful campus, and great basketball tickets (free for students).
Am enjoying being here I love being here! There is always stuff to do on campus during the week and on the weekends. If you want to spend time in Cincinnati, there are always things going on especially during sports season or at the various theaters.
Am learning a lot I am a psychology major, natural science minor student at Xavier. I'm currently taking fifteen credit hours as well as working on psychology research with Dr. Christian End. Between my classes and my research position, I'm gaining knowledge and real-world experience.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Absolutely AMAZING! When I visited, they were everywhere! This is not something to be freaked out about, this is really great, especially when you consider the crazy things that take place on campuses today in the world in which we live.
Greek Life They have sororities and fraternities, but they are built on an African American culture.
Clubs and Activities You name it...they have it, and if they don't have you can create it.
Bang for the buck Definitely! And, the financial aid, as well as scholarships are sufficient.
What to do for fun Cincinnati is full of exciting things to do. I would encourage you to find what suits you and go for it.
Food and Dining They have excellent meal plans, and excellent meals!
Dorm Life The dorm life that I was able to capture visiting Xavier was nothing short of comfortable and worry free. This two elements are very imperative when I am looking at dorms, and when I consider sharing my space with another.
Academic Rigor Xavier is well known for their academic rigor, and this is one of the major motives behind my choosing this university. This school pushes you beyond any and every academic barrier, set by you or the environment you have come from. They are for you and want you to succeed in every area!
Tips for prospective students Make sure you take the time to visit the campus, and to pray about the choice you make, before you choose any college or university.
In three sentences After visiting the campus of Xavier University, I was very impressed with the school. I immediately became aware of, and included in their close knit community. I was and am still very proud of my choice in choosing Xavier University.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I heard a lot of things with safety here at Xavier. with being somewhere remotely close to the ghetto, it scares people off, but i don't care. I'm just ready to go and start my life here at Xavier!!
Clubs and Activities Xavier's basketball team is really good, and i know that there swimming team is good too. (which i wanna be on there swim team last year).
Great for these types of students students that are ready to challenge them selves and are ready to start there college career in an amazing institution, should start here.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus well, i found out that the campus has a bus that travels to a mosque in Cincinnati, which is amazingly awesome!
Bang for the buck yes i know Xavier is worth so much money, but i think it will all be worth it. Not only is Xavier a good school to get a diploma from, but people that graduate from this university will have great chances to get a job easily.
What to do for fun I heard that Xavier had some good parties, but i am not sure. Also there are some sports that people could be interested in and some sports that people do for fun. Also right over the bridge is the Newport levee, and Xavier is right in the big city Cincinnati, which has a lot to do.
Food and Dining Oh my god, when i saw the dining hall at Xavier i was speechless! the food looked soooo good and delicious! and the tables look like set up that i deal with for 4 or more years.
Dorm Life when i saw a dorm for myself, it was kinda small, but at the same time it was actually bigger then i thought a dorm would be. the dorms look like it has ups and downs, but the most of the dorms look livable.
Academic Rigor for me being sorta smart, i think this university has a lot to offer course wise and also for majors.
Tips for prospective students really make sure you look into campus tours and make sure you know for a fact that you want to go to the institution. plus make sure you do a bunch of research before you apply for Xavier. make sure your test scores are around the average, make sure you can see yourself there, and main thing is make sure you can pay for Xavier, because it is really expensive!
In three sentences out of a 1-10 rate for this institution i would rate it an 8 for its rigorous courses, but in my heart i would easily rate this university an 11!!

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a strong police presence on campus constantly. Also, throughout campus, there are emergency call stations that alert police of an emergency and they are ready to help in minutes. There is definitely a safe feeling on this campus.
Greek Life Xavier does not have a Greek Life.
Clubs and Activities There are countless clubs on Xavier's campus and there is bound to be something for everyone.
Great for these types of students Xavier is great for students who are looking for a small campus (both in numbers and actual size). It is easy to meet all different types of people at Xavier because you come in contact with a lot of people every day.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Xavier Basketball is huge on campus. Everyone loves going to the games and home game tickets are free to students; they are determined through a lottery system.
What to do for fun Downtown Cincinnati offers many things to do for fun on the weekends. Also, there are a few malls in the area which allow students to do things off campus. On campus, there are various clubs that students are apart of that always have exciting events. The party scene at Xavier is not huge, but if you look hard enough for one, you will find one.
Food and Dining The brand new dining hall offers numerous selections of food that work for anyone's diet. Along with the helpful and happy dining hall staff, it is hard for someone not to find something they like. Everything is made fresh and is always hot and ready to go!
Dorm Life The dorms are the most fun part of Xavier's campus. This is most likely where you will meet all of your friends and everyone is open to meeting new people. The dorms themselves are pretty nice, spacious and always kept really clean.
Academic Rigor Classes are difficult but the professors are willing to help. Xavier offers many different types of classes, so there is something for everyone. Do not fall behind in classes because it can be hard to catch up. Be sure to take advantage of the help offered on campus.
Tips for prospective students As soon as you walk on campus, you will notice the beauty of it. This beauty is maintained all year long and it adds to the comfort of campus. When on campus, be open to trying new things and making new friends. This will add to the amazing Xavier experience.
In three sentences Xavier is a private institution with a strong Jesuit focus. Xavier always has a welcoming atmosphere that makes campus immediately feel like home. The professors on campus are eager to teach and always make class interesting and engaging.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The Campus is safe considering the part of town the university is located in.
Greek Life There is no Greek Life
Clubs and Activities Anything you can imagine, and if there isn't a club you like students are encouraged to make their own.
Great for these types of students Academically driven.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Crosstown shootout is the biggest tradition in Xavier History.
Bang for the buck Extremely expensive and honestly, not worth it.
What to do for fun There isn't much to do around Xavier besides the programs put on by SGA (student government association).
Food and Dining The cafeteria staff is extremely friendly and the food is wonderful.
Dorm Life The Residential Assistants (RA's) aren't very good and the residential staff is less than desirable.
Academic Rigor The only reason the academic rigor is a 5 is because some of the professors simply make it impossible to do well in their classes.
Tips for prospective students Go to class on time, and do suggested problems. Don't slack off.
In three sentences Xavier is a great place to study with a strong academic background. If you are looking for a better understanding of the world around you I suggest studying somewhere else.

Academic Rigor From what I am reading, their nature and science major program is excellent. A lot of student enjoy it.
In three sentences I like the fact that they have reached out to me because they were interested in me. Not too many colleges do that.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Though the surrounding neighborhoods can be a bit rough, Xavier's campus remains very safe for its students. Campus police patrol non-stop and there are several safe zones that have phones that connect to the police station.
Clubs and Activities Xavier has well over 100 clubs and many intramural sports that are available to students.
Bang for the buck Though there are bound to be snags every now and then, the experience you get at Xavier is one that you would be hard pressed to find somewhere else.
What to do for fun The university is almost always running events to keep students entertained. Outside of the campus there are several places around the city to shop, eat and have fun which are accessible due to shuttles provided.
Food and Dining The dining hall doesn't always have the best food, but it provides a good variety to allow people to step out of their normal eating habits. The staff are also very pleasant to talk to and helpful. Outside of the dining hall there are several options to choose from. They are all of good quality and provide good service.
Dorm Life Xavier's Residence life does a great job in helping people enjoy the dorm life. The resident assistants are always ready to help residents and look out for them. The cleaning and maintenance staff do an excellent job of taking care of the buildings and a sense of community is emphasized in all the halls.
Academic Rigor The courses range from rather easy to completely insane, but no matter what you can succeed. The professors genuinely want to help their students and you will certainly learn if you are willing to work for it.
Tips for prospective students Be open with people and be yourself, listen to any advice an upperclassmen gives you and always to take time to relax.
In three sentences Xavier University is an amazing university to go to and is filled with great people. It prides itself on being accepting of people from all walks of life and in reaching out to people. It has its faults, but over all it is wonderful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I always felt safe on campus, the surrounding area...not so much.
Greek Life Get involved!
Clubs and Activities Basketball season rocks! Tons of fun!
Great for these types of students Students looking for a close knit, personal experience.
What to do for fun Join a club, team, organization. Make friends, and get off campus sometimes!
Food and Dining The dining hall is very clean and tidy. The food is edible with a variety of options. I am a vegetarian so I was limited unfortunately.
Dorm Life I highly recommend living in the dorms as a first year student. My experiences on campus will always be remembered.
Academic Rigor Academics can be pretty tough. There is a core curriculum, along with your declared major/minor.
Tips for prospective students Have a plan before you get there so that you're not wasting time figuring things out. Know who you are, where you're going, and how you're going to get there.
In three sentences Xavier students are friendly, and outgoing. The campus is small, and welcoming. Attendance is also very costly.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is nothing to worry about
Greek Life Non existent
Clubs and Activities Hundreds of clubs and activities to get involved with.
Great for these types of students I've seen a little bit of everything during my visits and interactions with students.
Bang for the buck For many it can be a stretch to afford. If you check other college opinion websites, this issue is very common among Xavier opinion writers. Be sure to be aggressive when looking for scholarships and be studious during school to qualify for financial aid when you apply.
What to do for fun There are many places on campus to explore and hang out during down time. The university has times for students to visit downtown and have student excursions for the day.
Food and Dining The food is good. The dining commons has a host of different options, and there are several restaurants around campus that cater to certain types of popular cuisine.
Dorm Life The dorms are very spacious and will surprise you on how great they look. The room and board may be a bit pricey, but they have several options for incoming students to consider.
Academic Rigor Their professors and academic advisers are dedicated to giving a top notch education. Their core curriculum is rigorous.
Tips for prospective students Be studious in high school to qualify for financial aid. Look through the different degree options carefully and visit the campus! The best is to attend the X Preview Day.
In three sentences Xavier University is the perfect enlivenment to grow as a student. The campus is beautiful and is full of people who are warm and inviting to all incoming students and guests. My only warning is to work for scholarships and be aware of university deadlines for applying for them.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have yet to run into any problems, I get there at 6am, and leave around 7 or 8pm, and I've never run into any problems. I've had to call a cop once or twice cause I locked my keys in my car, but that's it. The campus police are awesome, helpful, and fun to talk to once you get to know them, cause they've had to help you get your keys and jump your car several times. Other than that, the campus is well lit at night, and I don't feel bad about walking around because I know the police station is right on the other side of campus.
Clubs and Activities I'm in several clubs, they are lenient when you have other priorities, and they understand your situation, cause they are students too, and they know whats going on. Join one, join all. They are so worth it.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus As a commuter, I go to the commuter lounge. There are tons of nice and outgoing people there, and even if you don't join in immediately, just listening to them is a hoot.
Bang for the buck It's a great college, business wise. Tons of connections, great professors and nice students. The plus is the beautiful campus, and I wouldn't trade it for any other school in the area.
What to do for fun Join a club, play pool in the student center. Other than that, some club somewhere is putting on an event, you just gotta find it.
Food and Dining I love the food, even though I don't live on campus, I still got a commuter's meal plan, because it's so worth it.
Dorm Life Can't say much since I commute, but I haven't heard anything too bad yet.
Academic Rigor Professors want to help you, and classes are no joke. You will struggle, but there are plenty of ways on campus to help handle your huge agenda. Whether it be helpful professors, good friends, or the reading lab, there is plenty of help.
Tips for prospective students Get involved as soon as possible. Everyone is nice, and I haven't met too many people who judge you. For the few that do, there are many more that share your interest, or are just the nicest people you'll ever meet.
In three sentences I love the campus and the professors. All of my classes have been small, and there is plenty of time to sit down with each professor if I have questions or need help. Everyone is nice, and it isn't hard to get involved and throw yourself into Xavier Nation.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There is a major city just minutes away. There are lots of friendly faces just waiting to meet you. Join a group and go volunteer!
Food and Dining The food is incredible. I would eat here even if I did not have to because it is that delicious. The facility is new and eco-friendly!
Dorm Life The roommate selection process is brand new and easy to use. If it feels like match.com, do not fret, you are not alone; but it does it's job. A dorm is a dorm, the bright side of Xavier is that the buildings are clean and the students really seem to bond.
Academic Rigor This category varies based on the student. Ultimately, the student will take from their time at Xavier what they put into it. He/she can make it as care-free or as rigorous as he/she chooses.
Tips for prospective students Xplore all that Xavier has to offer, not just the majors. Do not be deterred by the lack of a football team; the basketball team is pretty good! Tour the campus, it is the swing vote when you are on the fence between two schools.
In three sentences Xavier University provides great opportunities to delve into all aspects of the world around him/her. One can become involved with some of the many service projects in the community Xavier clubs support, while focusing in his/her field of study. This Xperience is a rare and lucky adventure worth exploring.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus Police is always around and never hard to find if needed. We have the Xavier Bubble, though. Mostly you are in the Xavier world when on campus and even though it's not in a great neighborhood, it is very safe.
Greek Life We do not have much Greek life apart from some major specific fraternities, but no houses or a greek row like some schools. I like it that way.
Clubs and Activities I'm involved in lots of clubs. The Xavier Players (theatre) puts on some great shows and the Active Minds club does a lot of work for psychological health with a semi annual stress out week with games, contests and movies for a week, for example.
Bang for the buck It's really expensive to go to Xavier, but the experience makes up for it. I have some of the best teachers I've ever had, and lots of academic help if I were to need it. The campus is really beautiful too, and we're always improving.
What to do for fun Muskie Madness on the first Friday night of every month always has a fun theme and usually there are bands and comedians that come perform for us then. It's a blast!
Food and Dining Only one cafeteria, but it has some pretty cool features like the pizza oven, the freestyle coke machines, and the vegan and gluten free sections have some awesome peanut butter chocolate chip bars.
Dorm Life Lots of fun, and lots of great people with a really rigorous RA selection process which guarantees people who can handle whatever happens.
Academic Rigor Classes are challenging, but not impossible as long as you pay attention and take notes. Studying is a must though.
In three sentences I love Xavier so much. Perfect size, amazing professors and an accepting environment. The on campus housing is very nice and there are lots of great ways to get involved.

Categories Comments Campus Safety IIt has recently improved. Campus police patrols regularly in the evenings. However not all the emergency phone works.
Greek Life The Greek Life looks interesting, there are about 6 societies on campus but they do not have separate housing.
Clubs and Activities There are some many clubs on campus, its hard not to feel overwhelmed on club day. Just choose wisely and don't join too many. During the Spring there are a lot of school activities, such as De-Stress Week or Ice cream on the Greenspace.
Bang for the buck Xavier is expensive, you pay pricey amount for high-quality education.
What to do for fun Rookwood Plaza is a nearby hot spot, that is just 10 minutes away by car and 20 minutes away by bus. The plaza is full of bars, restaurants and shopping stores.
Food and Dining The food is overall average cafe food. The restaurants surrounding campus are great and they usually switch out a different restaurant each year.
Dorm Life The dorms are fair.
Academic Rigor The courses are tough, but worth it. Its important to communicate with the professors. They are reasonable and willing to meet with you one-on-one if you don't understand the material.
Tips for prospective students -Definitely check out T.R.I.O Student Support Services. - Visit the Career Services Center, the can take you far if you utilize their resources. - The Academic Advisors are great, they can help you find the best courses for you. They are very dedicated.
In three sentences An excellent University, that is willing to work with you to improve your grades. They provide networking opportunities with nearby companies and carry a lot of leverage. Xavier also has amazing programs with provide service to improve the community.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is extremely safe! Although the neighborhood around it isnt the best, the campus is well lit at night! Even if you dont feel comfortable walking somewhere you can call for an escort and they are their in under a minute. Xavier also has emergency post almost EVERYWHERE if you're in danger just press the button and the police will be there in about 22 seconds!
Clubs and Activities Every year there is a giant cookout where every club has a booth. Its so fun and informational. You can play games and learn about all the clubs Xavier has to offer! Did I mention FREE FOOD! :) The only downside is that its during the school day and you will have to visit between classes.
Great for these types of students Xavier has a place for EVERYONE! No matter who you are the Xavier community embraces you and you become apart of the family!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The best tradition is Pasta with a Priest! Every Friday you can go and eat pasta with a priest and his dog bella. Its so fun you get to learn a lot about him, meet new friends and just enjoy great food!
Bang for the buck I think Xavier is a little bit over priced at a first glance, but once you realize what a great reputation the jesuit school has its definately worth your money! There has been many graduates who have been hired on the spot just because they attended Xavier! I love how they always work with you to make sure you and your family have a solid plan to pay for college. They always make sure its within your budgets.
What to do for fun As part of the cincinnati area there is plenty to do. From museums to art galleries and aquariums, there is a lot to do for every type of person.
Food and Dining As a picky person, I prefer to pack my own lunch. There are lots of choices so I'm sure that there is something for almost everyone.
Dorm Life The dorm life is great. Most schools don't allow freshman to have cars but Xavier does! I love how everyone has an option as to where the want to live. Every room is equiped with a jack and cable!
Academic Rigor The academic courses are very rigorious, if you so choose. As a scholar student you will have more rigorious classes with smaller classes
Tips for prospective students I would advise all prospective students to go to all the informational meetings and open houses they offer. They are so helpful in the decision process.
In three sentences Xavier is a great school that has wonderful opportunities for everyone. Classes are small with one-on-one attention and a 12:1 student to faculty ratio. With the most up to date technology, students are sure that they are get a solid education that is worth their money.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Small campus, easy to get around. Police station on campus and 24/7 security.
Greek Life NONE!
Clubs and Activities A whole lot of options and too little time!
Great for these types of students *Loves smaller communities *Integration of faith, community and service *Small school with ivy league feel *School pride in sporting activities not overdone!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I am still learning them!
Bang for the buck The free shuttle services for weekends and for that trip to the airport certainly helps!
What to do for fun Free shuttle services to entertainment locations, malls, shopping. Intermural sports. Museums, Baseball game, Pro-Football and of course, one of the best college basketball teams!
Food and Dining Different meal plans, variety of foods for different taste-buds, A few on campus restaurants and social gathering etc. Of course there is always Graeter's ice-cream, Cincinnati SkyLine chilli, La Rosa's and Montgomery Inn ribs.
Dorm Life Loads of fun getting to know people. Very supportive group of people and close knit community.
Academic Rigor The academic counselors are really good at guiding you with courses, classes, scheduling and requirements for majors and graduation.
Tips for prospective students Make your choice based on the type of environment where you can be comfortable - big school, mid-size school etc. Being a liberal arts school, though known for its nursing major, X gives you flexibility and freedom to choose what you want to do with the rest of your life. It is a Jesuit school steeped in tradition, faith, community and service.
In three sentences I chose Xavier because of the student:teacher ratio. It has excellent academic programs that will allow me to explore my strengths and talents towards what I want to do. It is a mid-size school which means I get to be build closer and stronger relationships with my professors and peers.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I always feel very safe on campus! We have our own police who patrol our campus 24/7.
Greek Life None
Clubs and Activities Many major related clubs, leadership opportunities, faith based clubs, sporting activities and many more...
Bang for the buck Xavier tries to give out scholarships to every student. They try to be very accommodating.
What to do for fun Many of the big events are a major concert in the spring, a boat dance on the Ohio River, newly released movies every other week, late night snacks, cultural events, or even hanging out on the university's greenspace.
Food and Dining Our cafeteria, or caf, is in its second year after moving locations. The workers are friendly, the space is always clean, the food isn't bad, and the atmosphere is just right! The dining room is split into seven different section each one trying to mirror the seven gifts of Ignatius. One section might have big booths when another as couches or smaller tables.
Dorm Life I currently live in a brand new sophomore dorm! It is gorgeous and many times is referred to as a hotel. It is nice because the majority of sophomores live together in this building. Everything stays really clean and there is still a very social environment. Freshmen year is very different. There are four different dorms each with a bit of a reputation, so it makes it easy to find a dorm where you fit best! I lived in the community dorm. It was very social, and I got to know almost everyone in the building. They like to keep the freshman dorms smaller because it helps first years develop their own sense of community and pride!
Academic Rigor They offer many challenging classes, and the core classes are designed so that you learn to expand your mind. I have learned to be more open in a learning environment and there are many different ways to engage yourself in learning.
Tips for prospective students I recommend you find a school where you will have opportunities to succeed. It is important that the school you choose has activities or clubs that interest you because they can give you tools for your future. Make sure your school has excellent teachers that will push you, but also help you along the way!
In three sentences It is a great school for meeting people and belonging to a community. The academics are challenging yet worth it! I love Xavier for its atmosphere, its education, its teachers and students, and for the preparation I have for my future.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The building across from my dorm has a bunch of cats (I'm still not quite sure why), and they give me stink eyes all the time. It's very intimidating, but that's about it
Greek Life We have none. sorry. (Except for ADP, but don't tell anyone about that. It's on the down low)
Clubs and Activities http://www.xavier.edu/campus-life/activities.cfm I can't do all the work for you
Great for these types of students Students who actually value their education, but don't want to be mindless nerd-zombies
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Xavier football: undefeated since 1973 Xavier basketball: unstoppable since, ever. ADP (we will be legends! One day... I promise)
Bang for the buck I don't know what this means. Is that about the tuition, or deer hunting? As far as tuition, Xavier offers very competitive scholarship packages and financial aid, and it's very similar price to most state schools. As far a hunting, there's not much of that around here.
What to do for fun Intramural, and club sports are very popular across campus, and with plenty of clubs and activities, there's never a dull moment on campus. There's also Xavier basketball, which is huge, and we're less than 20 minutes from downtown Cincy. (And, there's other college related activities in the area *cough*)
Food and Dining The Hoff Dining Commons (or the Caf) is a brand new cafeteria located in the center off campus and is filled with great food and amenities. It's not quit momma's cooking, but it's the next best thing. There are also other on campus dining options like Subway, Currito (burritos), Andy's Mediterranean, the Coffee Emporium, and Ryan's Pub.
Dorm Life Freshman dorms can be very wild and social, or quiet and reserved, depending on which building you are in. Sophomore year, though, you have to chance to room at the new 500 room dormitory, which is majestic.
Academic Rigor Classes are definitely difficult, but not impossible. The atmosphere around campus, though, makes learning easy, because everyone is here to improve themselves. And with classes only being taught by professors, and not TA's, every class is challenging, but insightful.
Tips for prospective students The most important part of finding the right college is to imagine yourself living on that campus for four years. After a weeks at Xavier, it's hard to imagine myself anywhere else.
In three sentences Xavier is fun, friendly, and a great college experience. It's the perfect size and atmosphere for a complete education.

Bang for the buck Xavier is committed to quality academics, and the price greatly reflects this. This is a school which cares about its appearance and making sure students get what they deserve. Although tuition is fairly high, you definitely get your bang for the buck!
What to do for fun Around Xavier, there are shopping centers, ice cream shops, a bowling alley and much more. Downtown Cincinnati is only a 15 minute drive as well!
Food and Dining 4 out of 5
Dorm Life 5 out of 5
Academic Rigor 4 out of 5
Tips for prospective students Do not be afraid to talk to professors and other faculty members on campus. They are here to help!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Popes (boys who dress up as popes for the basketball games) are the main advocators for school spirit.
Bang for the buck Pretty expensive but worth the education.
What to do for fun Lots of people join clubs and activities, including intramural sports. People go off campus a lot, heading towards the malls or shopping centers, movie theaters, or bowling alley. There are some Xavier traditions such as Dana Garden's bar or Stone Lanes.
Food and Dining For the most part, there is good food in Hoff. Sometimes the main dish is less than desirable, but you can't always get what you want. They always have the go tos that become favorites (like pizza or the sandwich line).
Dorm Life Dorm life is pretty average here. Residence Life is pretty strict on the rules, especially drinking and noise. But as far as community and liking the people around you - that's never a problem.
Academic Rigor There are definitely your blow off easy As, however there are more challenging courses that you have to take as part of the core. The professors are trying to help you succeed but you also have to want to do the work.
Tips for prospective students Definitely visit! You can tell a lot about Xavier by the atmosphere. Not having a football team is a turnoff for some, but come watch a men's basketball game. Sure the game is great, but look at the students section also. That's school spirit that you'll never forget.
In three sentences Xavier University is a typical Jesuit university with an emphasis on education of the mind, body, and spirit. What you get from Xavier is what you put into it. It's a fun atmosphere with a we're a big family type feel.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is extremely safe and I have never felt threatened on it. The campus police are always nearby on patrol and people from the local neighborhoods aren't intimidating.
Greek Life Xavier doesn't have an official greek life, however, there are a handful of professional fraternities on campus. I am involved with Delta Sigma Pi, which is a business fraternity.
Clubs and Activities Xavier offers a huge amount of clubs and activities and it is easy for all people to get engaged and have a fun time.
Great for these types of students For students who are outgoing and willing to get involved with some aspect of campus life. For those who wish to push themselves academically, but realize the social aspect of college is equally if not more so important. For people looking for a well rounded education. For people looking for a private (Catholic) institution where the faith isn't pushed on anyone and all faiths and ethnicities are promoted.
Bang for the buck Truth be told, Xavier is pretty expensive just as all private schools are, however, they gave me a good scholarship that paid for half my tuition and through working and outside scholarships I am able to pay for almost the rest of my expenses. However, I would be willing to spend more to go here, I love the people and the community and know that I am getting a quality education so I am exceptionally happy with my going here.
What to do for fun I take advantage of the opportunities that the Student Activities Council sponsors, including such things as Red's and Bengal's games, free food, get togethers on the green space, Muskies After Dark events, late night new release movies, and much more. I will leave campus about every other weekend to go various places with friends such as Newport on the Levee, downtown, Kenwood shopping mall, King's Island, and other local attractions.
Food and Dining There is one main cafeteria on campus which is beautiful and new within the last few years. There are many options for what kinds of food you can get and the overall quality is above average (compared to my visits to friends' schools and their visits to Xavier), however, the choices to become redundant after a few semesters. There are only a few other places to eat on campus, however, Rookwood Commons is only a couple minutes' drive away and offers more extensive food choices.
Dorm Life Even though I don't personally spend much time in mine unless I'm doing homework because of how much I do, community developed quickly on the floor I live on and we like to hang out often. The dorms are very nice and well maintained, as there is a cleaning staff that cleans your suite's bathroom weekly. Overall, the dorms are pretty fun and great to live in.
Academic Rigor I went to a public high school where I was in the top 2% of my class of nearly 400 and I was expecting college to be difficult, but was shocked by how much so. I rarely had to study in high school, but now I must devote much more time to it and focus on my studies; it took me a semester to adjust, where I got a 3.1 GPA, however, since then I have been doing much better. Overall the curriculum is challenging and makes you think, however, it is possible to get A's if you apply yourself.
Tips for prospective students Get involved on campus and go to the events that the Student Activities Council sponsors, they are extremely inexpensive and a great way to meet new people and experience the city. Don't be afraid to try to do something different then you have in the past, if it seems interesting then try it, you may find something that you love. Also, go to the basketball games, they're insanely fun.
In three sentences Xavier gives students the change to be engaged inside and outside the classroom through service-learning opportunities to the many on campus organizations to sponsored events like Cincinnati sporting events, concerts, and guest speakers. The campus is smaller, which makes it feel more homey; the community that I have built with other students is unlike anything I have experienced before. Overall Xavier has been an amazing experience and I would never change my choice for college.

Dorm Life All dorms are like big families!
Academic Rigor The academics are harder than most state schools but its definitely worth it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is very safe. The campus is very small, and there are campus police everywhere. And if you don't see an officer around, there are blue button stations you can use to call someone there in case of an emergency. You can also call campus police if you feel uneasy about walking back in the dark somewhere of if you need emergency transportation.
Clubs and Activities There is literally a club for everything. If there isn't, then you could easily make one. There's even a club for riding horses. The only downside is that some of the club sports, have expensive entry fees. Other than that, they're great.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus for the most part, I'm always in my room because it's cold and I live slightly off the main campus. When I do decide to come on campus though, I generally go to the student center. It has food options, computers and printers, and the offices upstairs are designed just for students. I spend most of my time in OMA (the office of multicultural affairs). When it's warm however, being on the greenspace is nice too.
Bang for the buck Xavier has a lot of nice features and assets, but the tuition is pretty expensive. It also feels like they're asking for more money every five seconds. I would gladly give up some of the features here if it meant a lower, more affordable tuition.
What to do for fun There is always some sort of event going on on campus so there's always those. Or if you're like me, you can grab a group of friends and make your own fun. Just being around people on random late nights in the dorms have proven to be the most fun, but there's always parties and clubs as well. If you can't find a party on Xavier's campus, there's always UC's.
Food and Dining Xavier has recently built the Hoff Dining Commons which is great. There are many food options inside and you can eat as much as you want. They even have this new pasta station where you give the chef your ingredients and they cook it for you right there. There's also a sandwich station that makes basically any sandwich you like. If you don't feel like eating in there, there are plenty of food options on and around campus. Most in walking distance and some places like the nearby Chipotle take XCash which is money on your AllCard. Most pizza places deliver as well.
Dorm Life Dorm life is great for some, and not so great for others. If you're in the right place at the right time, you'll see some pretty interesting stuff. It's generally never too boring in the dorms if you know someone. I myself didn't enjoy living in the dorms because I like to be a little more independent, so I move into the on campus apartments, and I like those just fine. They have living situations for almost every kind of person so 9 times out of 10 you will enjoy yourself. The RA's are pretty strict on the rules but they are all pretty friendly. Each dorm has some sort of lounge on each floor and a big one in the basement which are great. Most of them have kitchens in the lounges too so cooking is an option.
Academic Rigor Xavier is pretty strict on their academics but that's because they want you to be the best you can be once you graduate. The academics are tough, but no faculty here wants to see you fail. So they are willing to help you whenever you need it.
Tips for prospective students Study a lot. Get to know your professors and go to their office hours. Talk to everyone, because you never know who you might meet. Get involved as much as you can because it's a great way to get experience, and meet new people.
In three sentences Xavier is a great learning environment. They have wonderful faculty and staff. Xavier is a great place to be if you want to be successful.
