Being at Angelo State University I have learned the true meaning of diversity. Though it is a small school it's diversity is what makes it so great. I have learned that diversity is not just having class with different ethnicities but also accepting their culture and admiring their traditions.

Angelo State University has over 20 student organizations. It is not hard to find one that accomodates your interests. This university's organizations are more like mini families that stick together. Most of these organizations offer scholarships without requiring anything but participation. Even more than financial aid being involved in an on campus organization rewards you with the gift of life long friendships.

    Bang for the buck

Angelo State University offers many scholarships for incoming freshman. Because Angelo State is a small campus they can offer more money to qualified students. A side from this, the university's Multicultural Center also offers scholarships to incoming scholars and young girls who choose to participate in the mother/daughter program. ASU was founded by San Angelo's elite citizens the money these citizens donated goes towards student scholarships.

    Tips for prospective students

Come to Angelo State University! Apply for all their scholarships their is nothing you can lose and be involved on campus!

So far, Angelo State has taught me a lot as well as enhanced knowledge that I already knew from high school. I found that the Science courses were somewhat difficult but the professors are understanding and will help you when you need it.

    Am enjoying being here

I am enjoying the university. I have lived in Austin, Tx for most of my life so it was a little different moving to a smaller town but the friendly and helpful faculty, staff, students, as well as the surrounding townspeople made the transition much easier than I anticipated.

    Bang for the buck

Angelo State is one of the least expensive public universities in the state of Texas and it has highly ranked physics and biology programs so I would say that it is worth the money.

    Tips for prospective students

This school is very good for students looking for careers in health or science. The dorms are also nice and spacious, and the meal plan isn't bad either. For a school of its size, Angelo State has a good amount of resourses to aid with studying and such. The classes are usually under thirty people unless it is a lecture course and the professors don't have teacher assistants teaching their classes. The professors are also usually easily accessible and are open to appointment scheduling. Also, the university provides supplemental instruction to help with any questions you may have about course curriculum. Overall, attending this school has been a good learning experience and an smooth transition into college life.

As a an incoming freshmen, I was very nervous on how I would be able to handle the transition from high school to college. I was amazed by how much the professors would help you. The size of the school makes it easy for the professor to work with you throughout the entire without sacrificing the the quality of education. I'm learning the material as well as other skills I can use through life including time management, sociability, and understanding other's culture and traditions.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy every moment here. There is always programs, athletic events, and educational opportunities here everyday. I have had so many new experiences that I would never have thought of having. Whatever you like they have it. Whether it is community service, video games or salsa dancing they have an event for you and if they don't you can start your own or they will make an event that will interest you. I have had some of the best experience of my life here.

    Bang for the buck

Money was always one of the burdens I have had when entering college but Angelo State has helped me so much. They have so many scholarship opportunities, grants, and work study programs that you can even make a profit there. They will pay you to take surveys, referee games you love, and provide job opportunities. If your in financial need they have several ways to help you pay for tuition, books, and class. I came to Angelo State for virtually nothing. They give access to computers, supplies, even laundry which is covered in your tuition. It's a great school for a even better price.

    Tips for prospective students

Angelo State is a great school for incoming freshmen. It's the perfect size for students coming from both rural and urban areas. Student's can get to know their professor's and can easily become part of an organization. The classes aren't generic and the professor make the effort to make sure you grasp the material which you would not get at many larger universities. It's so easy to make friends that you will have for a lifetime there.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for all majors especially their Psychology, Education and Pre-Med One of the most impressive thing is how well the school does to unify all ethnic groups. If you want to experience new cultures, save money, and be part of a unified school then Angelo State University is you school!

I am learning so much not only with the teachers I have but with the numerous tutoring services offered here. Each teacher has office hours plus they refer me to other teachers if they think I need more help.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy being here the dorms are close together so there is always someone new to meet or talk to. The lake and river give the students a little get a way from constant class work.

    Bang for the buck

The university has a clinic and many sports and exersise classes open to the students. Tons of tutoring so struggling with classwork can be less stressful.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for financial aid ASAP! Also handle all of the paper work for your dorm quickly otherwise you may be in a building you may not want to stay in. Also, register quickly so you have plenty of classes and teacher's to choose from.

Great for these types of students

Great for any one going into the health field. Its not a spread out campus so its wonderful for people wanting to make new friends.

    Tips for prospective students

This school is mainly recognised in science for its biology and physics programs, not to mention pre-medicine, and they are ranked among the top in the state. The exceptions are Chemistry and Biochemistry - From the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department. All of the department professors are... hmm... let's just say they're not the best teachers and they don't really care about how much you learn, they just want to get the class over with.

Great for these types of students

Premed, communications, physical therapy, physics, biology... those are the big ones.

I am currently an Art Major, and of course everyone has to cover basic classes as well as your major concentration areas as well. I would have to say that the classes I've taken outside of my concentration area are really great. If your not that into math or science, they offer Intro to Business math which is WAY easy and the professor is a really funny guy, or they offer Astronomy, which is held in the Planetarium! So overall, in or out of your concentration area, your going to get a great experience in all of the different major departments.

The campus has improved a lot over just the last year that I've attended! They have completely redone the Library and the Gym, as well as redone the walkways around campus, and added new housing units and recreational areas! The campus constantly has events going on that are offered to ASU students, as well as the San Angelo Community; the good thing is that student usually get in FREE! Anything from tailgating parties before football games, to Flamingo dance lessons, and movies in the Planetarium are available.

    Bang for the buck

I would have to say that ASU offers a lot of recreational, educational, and overall fun experiences on and off campus for students. The financial aid staff is always on top of their duties and keeping you informed of your situation. The school also offers a LOT of scholarships, most of which are geared towards incoming freshman. However, there are some scholarships such as the CARR scholarship which is grade based, and once received, if you keep your grades and classes at the requirement, you will receive it every year you attend.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are planning on attending ASU, and have been accepted, register for housing AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! I can't stress how important it is to register early to get the dorm you want! Also, I recommend finding an extracurricular activity such as a sport, religious group or club to join; it will help with making friends a lot easier and faster. Also, if your living on campus, then you are required to have a meal plan, so make the most of it! You are paying to go there, so eat there and save some cash! Students can eat at the Cafeteria, or the University Center. Parking: Make sure that you park in your designated parking zone, because you will get a ticket! I once witnessed one of the campus policeman taking a picture with his phone of a car that was parked crooked at the University Center, and they got a ticket! A bonus for on campus students or C zone students, you are free to park in B and D zones AFTER 1:00PM! A major tip is to also do research on the professors you are planning to take, ask current students, look online at Rate My Professor or even call and talk to them yourself; believe me you don't want to get stuck with someone you don't like! If you do happen to get stuck, don't worry, the first 2 weeks of school are Add/Drop week, which means you have two weeks to check and see if another class has space for you to transfer to!

Great for these types of students

This school is great for students on a budget, who want a hometown feel mixed with the city, and for a diverse experience. There is a rich culture at ASU, you just have to experience it for yourself!

The academic side to this campus so far is great, the books they use are informational and most professors and tutors make sure you actually learn what is being taught and anything else you might need to help you in the future.

    Am enjoying being here

Everyone is very friendly, no one seems to mind striking up a conversation or giving you an extra hand which makes it easier and more fun to be on the campus. There is so much to do on campus and nice shops off campus so its pretty cool.

    Bang for the buck

Well with the tuition thats being paid there are all kinds of fees that need to be paid but you can look online and realize that the fees you are paying most things you get free or cheaper than other schools like a parking pass or yearbook fee. When you join certain organizations thats free as well because you're already paying for it.

    Tips for prospective students

Have an open mind. Use rate my professors when you are about to choose a class. Renting books is better than buying them, Chegg works out great. Stay positive and work hard.

Great for these types of students

Any type of student will fit in here. I hear the biology and math programs are pretty good.

Here at ASU the teachers main goal is to help you succeed in all of your classes. They take the time to get to know you so that you can learn more and gain better knowledge of various subjects. I'm enjoying learning so far and you also get a chance to meet some friends during classes and study sessions.

    Am enjoying being here

I love being at Angelo State. It is the perfect size school. Not too small, but not too big either! There are so many activities to take part in and so many people to meet. It's always been said that once you get to college you won't want to leave. I'm proud to say that, after my first weekend here at ASU, I told my parents that I never wanted to go home.

    Bang for the buck

ASU tuition is easy to deal with. They have many scholarship opportunities and have an amazing finanical aid program.

    Tips for prospective students

My tips for all of you prospective students is to be up to the challenge of late nights and early mornings due to intense study sessions, so bring your coffee pots with you on move-in day! Also be ready to meet hundreds of new people, because the people you meet in college could be the people you will be friends with for the rest of your life! Try to keep good study habits and be careful if registering for morning classes, sleeping through a class can hurt your grade.

Great for these types of students

If you like to develop relationships with your teachers and to be in small classes, then Angelo State is just right for you! And we may be a small school, but boy do we have school pride! Please help spread our Ram Pride!

Angelo State University is a member of the Texas Tech University, but is not so overwhelming as a large school. ASU is very spirited and always has some activity provided for its students to attend. ASU has been nomiated in the Princenton Review as one of the top schools to attend.

The professors, for the most part, are willing to work with you as much as you require. Being a small school, you are on first name basis with your professors, which aids in making the learning environment a comfortable one. The professors are very accommodating when you need extra help outside of class.

    Am enjoying being here

They also just finished building a state of the art gym and climbing wall. The college also employs a great group of people who know what they are teaching and how to teach it. Your going to learn no matter how much you try not to.

    Tips for prospective students

Its a whole new world when you start college. Don't be shy though the more friends you meet the more fun you have. Also don't bring too much stuff the rooms aren't that big, and no space means not happy students.

Great for these types of students

    Am learning a lot

Angelo State University has wonderful Professors that are very familiar with their field. I have yet to come across a Professor that conducted a blow off course. They know their stuff and they take it seriously.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the many programs that occur on campus. Whether it is through residential programs or UCPC, there are many things that can make your stay enjoyable.

    Bang for the buck

If you keep your grades at a good level, money is not too much of an issue.

    Tips for prospective students

Come drop by the campus and check it out. Nothing beats seeing the campus in real life. It will give you a realistic scope of the university as a whole.

Great for these types of students

Go-get-em' students will thrive here. If you love taking advantage of unique opportunities, this IS the place.

    Am learning a lot

I've learned alot while attending Angelo State. The students here are friendly, there's no certain clicks, or groups, everyone is someone here at Angelo State. The professors never hesitate to help out a student, they'll help you out however they can.

    Am enjoying being here

Angelo State is great with activities. There's something going on everyday whether it's sports, fraternities, or the multicultural center. At least one time out of everyday there is something going on, and its never boring. It's always exciting to see what is going to happen. ASU also has a very nice scenery, it's always nice to just walk and enjoy the park like outdoors there on campus.

    Bang for the buck

Being that ASU is a small school (D2) it offers many scholorships, athletic, up and coming scholars, carr, music, choir, and many other scholorships are available online. The opportunities are here, you just have to do your part and apply.

    Tips for prospective students

Always make sure to have your work turned in on time. If you have a question don't hesitate to ask your professor during or after class.

Great for these types of students

ASU is great for any type of student looking at going to college or looking to transfer.

    Am learning a lot

Not only am i learning alot about my chosen field but i'm also learning alot about other fields that i had no interest in before attending here. I also learn about alot of different cultures because they offer different events in our university center such as a native american tribe day or black history month events and we have alot of students from all over the world attending as well. The school also offers tutoring for alot of subects and it helps out alot.

    Am enjoying being here

There's a lot going on at this school that offers you opportunities to interact with your fellow students. Once a month they do this thing called Uc Cafe where we get to see alot of comedians and sometimes musical artist. This year we were lucky enough to have actor and comedian Rob Schnieder visit our school!

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is one of the best things about this school. It is one of the lowest in the state of texas from what i understand and there are scholarship opportunites everywhere. The Carr scholarship is actually our largest scholarship on campus and is awarded to several students every year. I myself have 3 scholarships from the theatre department, the music department, and the communication department. all you have to do is put int the application.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are thinking of attending here, then definately schedual a trip for a campus tour. Angelo State often has a day set aside about once a month called Discover ASU which allows prospective students and parents to walk around the campus, meet other people who are attending the school, view the dorms, and see what types of clubs are offered around campus. Once you are accepted, then come and join us in the summer for SOAR where you can register for classes and find out more about the classes here and have the oppotunity to stay in a dorm overnight. If you can't stay overnight they do have the SOAR express option. Check the Angleo State Website for more information.

Great for these types of students

Angelo State is great for people who want to go into practically any field and who want a little diversity in their life. We have an excellent student teacher ratio and lots of people who are willing to help you out. The campus is located in west texas and the people around town are very nice and accepting.
