    Am learning a lot

Being here is absolutly great. I am learning alot and do feel like I am getting a University level education even though Bellevue college isnt classified as a University. The classes here are about 30-40 students which allow you for a lot of one on one help with the proffesors.

    Am enjoying being here

As a current student, I really am enjoying it here at Bellevue College. The students, staff, and enviroment make Bellevue College enjoyable, safe, and very college atmosphering looking.

    Bang for the buck

Compared to what students pay at a university, here at Bellevue College you get the same education and level of classes for 1/4 of the price. As of right now personally, i am taking 15 credits and my tuition for the quarter was about 1500. Compared to a university it would be 10X that. Bellevue College is a great place for low income people that want an education as good as any other university but is quite affordable.

    Tips for prospective students

If you want to do well at Bellevue College, apply early and on time for your classes. There is so many students and if you apply late for registration, theres a slim chance you will get any classes.

Secondly, just be prepared to get your brain rocked. Lots of studying, determination, and hard work will help lead the way to a great education at Bellevue College.

Dont overwhelm yourself with so many credits. The last thing you want to do is drop your grades because your so stressed out.

Great for these types of students

Bellevue College is great for any type of student. If your planing on tranfering or get your degree here at BC, You can count on getting a great education here. They have so many programs to offer for any type of person who wants to get into any job feild. You can earn your AA or even your bachlors degree in some programs.
Their is also so many clubs and activities for the students to be involved in throughout the campus.

Bellevue College is a great institution with a diverse student body and a very engaging learning environment.

    Tips for prospective students

Be active in campus activities by joining clubs, programs, or just attending fun on-campus events.

    Academic Rigor

Some of the classes, especially the core major classes, are challenging. Most of the classes at BC is very fun and helpful to attend.

    Dorm Life

Engaging learning environment with lots of activities going on all the time.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria here can certainly satisfy your hunger. However, one bad thing is they usually serve fast food more than healthy food.

    What to do for fun

Attend an event, join a club, and socialize!

    Campus Safety

Very secured campus. Security available 24/7 for your safety! Just a call and they will be there.

Bellevue College has a great learning atmosphere with a variety of people. The art professors are great for getting you prepared with transferring to art major colleges. There are a lot of after school activities ranging from Asian culture events to sports.

    Tips for prospective students

Do searches on reviews of professors before you pick a class some professors are superb and some hard confusing. Also use your writing lab tutors and math tutors they really know what there talking about and make the hardest things understandable.

    Academic Rigor

The only thing I would say they lack is the Bachelor degrees available I would like one for animators. Also they could evaluate their professors better on how they teach math or english.

    Dorm Life

There is no dorm, however there might be for international students.

    Food and Dining

They have a lot of options more than a public high school cafeteria but costs more for average quality food. However there are at least 30 food restaurantsin a 10 mile range of bellevue college vicinity so going out to eat before class is easy.

    What to do for fun

Go to the dances, sports events, local school general events, clubs, and school plays. A lot of people hang out in the stairwell area of the cafeteria and you can always hangout at the crossroad mall nearby.

    Bang for the buck

As an art major student this is a great college for improving your skills with spending the least amount of money. I took and love about 95% of the college art coures and would gladly take them all again if I could. Again, a great way to prepare yourself for transfering to an art major college. And who knows some of those credits might transfer there saving you lots of money.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There isn't anything really weird on campus, the campus it self is unique so nothing would seem weird or unusal.

Great for these types of students

Great for Art sudents but not ones who want to goof off.

    Clubs and Activities

There are soo many like fishing, acting, art, culture, GSA, religous, and so many more. The people in the clubs are really friendly because they are your fellow friendly college students.

    Greek Life

We have a Phi Theta Cappa and they are nothing but nice people wanting to do community service. It is not like a click environment the people there are bettering the lives of those around them.

    Campus Safety

Super safe but at night those big tree areas around the parking lot can seem scary at night if you are by yourself. But really a medium sized girl like me has had no problems. There are lots of security guards on campus if you have a problem or you can always let a professor know everyone is very kind. Though every once in a blue moon a car might get broken into but nothing really bad has happened since I've been there for 3 years.

Being near Redmond and Seattle, BC is brimming with new technology and is making a constant effort to be more Green - the entire science building is built around this idea. The campus is a good size with everything within walking distance and is quite aesthetic. The classes themselves are usually 20-30 students and there is free tutoring.

    Tips for prospective students

If you plan on taking classes between 10 am and 4 pm, I strongly advise taking the bus if you can - the parking is a mess.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging but not too difficult, and do a very good job of preparing you for your degree.

    Food and Dining

The food isn't the best but it isn't McDonald's quality either. I found it acceptable when I couldn't put something together in the morning. I liked the salad bar the most.

    What to do for fun

Not a whole lot. There's a computer lab and a campus commons to hang out and entertain oneself in, but nothing placed specifically for entertainment.

    Bang for the buck

The professors are very well qualified while the tuition is only around $2,000 per quarter for Washington citizens.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    Nothing too outlandish

Great for these types of students

Most types of students really, the place is built for anyone.

    Clubs and Activities

While I know there are plenty of clubs of all types, I didn't get involved in much of them.

    Campus Safety

Enough cameras and security staff to make me feel safe enough.

Well rounded college, with a lot of clubs, sports, activities, and a wide range of classes for all different kinds of majors. Plus it's the same education as a University, but for about 1/3 of the price!

    Tips for prospective students

Register for classes early. Since Bellevue College has a large student population there can be some competition for getting into classes. As soon as your registration date and time comes up register, or be prepared to be put on a wait list for your classes.

    Academic Rigor

The classes can be challenging if you don't keep up with your work. So my best advice is to keep on top of your studies.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria has the typical food fare for a college campus, so it can be harder to find healthier options. On the other hand they do have a deli so you can make your own sandwiches, and even your own salads. They also have coffee shops scattered throughout campus, which makes it nice for getting your morning cup of coffee at least somewhat closer to your class.

    Bang for the buck

You are getting the same education, from professionals currently working in their field of study, that you would get at university for less than half of the cost.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Bellevue College is a campus that is going green. They already have composting, recycling, and an active sustainability program which encourages all students to make a difference, by taking the bus, carpooling, and using less resources. Plus if you don't know how to help with the sustainability there are multiple ways that you can find out about it.

Great for these types of students

It is great for all types of students. Anyone who wants a great education without paying university prices.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is available 24/7. I feel that if I ever need anything, even just being walked out to my car after a night class that I can call them.

As an accredited 4 year university, Bellevue has become one of the top community colleges in the Northwest. With a wide variety of class choices, the teachers are for the most part very interested in the student's success and very helpful. The campus may be small, but their location and website are very well organized.

    Tips for prospective students

Ratemyprofesser.com is an excellent website for checking out student reviews of the teachers because it really makes all the difference with the grade you will get in the class. When registering, don't wait to sign up for classes otherwise you take the risk of losing out on the best teachers and classes.

    Academic Rigor

Bellevue's academic rigor is very difficult compared to most community colleges, but as long as students come in with good study habits and an expectation of putting in many study hours, it is possible to do very well.

    Dorm Life

    N/A

    Food and Dining

The food is pretty good, it's basic standard cafeteria food that might be expected at a college. They are a little pricey, but the coffee stands scattered around the campus are very good and accessible.

    What to do for fun

There are many clubs and groups that have been created for the students and run by the students which is an awesome way to get involved in the community and connect with other students.

    Bang for the buck

With budget cuts, the cost of textbooks and tuition has gone up substantially. There are many extra fees and expenses that go beyond the cover price of attending, such as all students having to pay for parking. However, Bellevue is cheaper than a regular major 4 year University, and with programs such as Running Start for high school students, the rate of quality classes to fees is above average.

    Am learning a lot

BC definitely has a lot to offer. It does require you to know what you're looking for or else you might spend a lot of credit hours doing nearly nothing...but once you find the things you need its great! The staff is very good. They all usually have advanced degrees in what they are teaching and are all very good instructors. Since this was only recently a community college they all seem very used to the idea that students need to be at a community college pace. They might be returning learners or perhaps don't speak english as their first language. Even if you don't fit into those descriptions, definitely savor the in-between pace while it lasts.

    Am enjoying being here

Most of the students here are really enjoying what they are learning and are very dedicated to what they are studying. It is a really nice environment. It is a commuter campus so there is a lot of flexibility, while still providing ways for students to get involved.

    Bang for the buck

Absolutely! Who wouldn't mind having to pay only $2000 for 16 credit hours per quarter? The classes teach you so much and there is a really good level of student interaction within the classes themselves. The size of the school is such that you can easily reach your teachers and establish connections with your classmates in order to enhance your educational experience. Definitely get so much more than that tiny bill implies.

    Tips for prospective students

Know what you want to do or where you need to go academically. There are councilors here, but there are so many people all the time and the lines are so long that it can be discouraging, so find out stuff on your own and talk to other students. Then go to the advisers to fill in the gaps. Usually, if you're on top of it, you won't need to. Also, if you're looking to transfer, look into the transfer degrees and what they require. If you don't plan on getting a degree, look at the classes themselves. Classes with an ampersand (&) will easily transfer. And finally, make sure you get to school on time. Because this is a commuter campus, the parking fills up fast! Know traffic on your way here and know where the nearest parking will be.

Great for these types of students

Students looking to fulfill general education courses before transfer. Students looking to transition slowly into college life. Students returning to school to complete or perfect or renew education requirements. People who just want to learn something new in a college environment, for less money.

What a great continuation of education! Bellevue College has prestigious and engaging professors who really wish to help you succeed. The subjects are intriguing and spark quite the intellectual mind!

    Am enjoying being here

Although it is nothing like living on campus at a university, Bellevue College offers plenty of ways to get involved around campus. It's also small enough that you are able to build community with classmates or the people you just happen to meet around school!

    Bang for the buck

I have visited many other universities and sat in on their classes, and Bellevue College is in no way lacking in prestige. If money is an issue for you, then Bellevue College is definitely a great place to start your education. You save so much without sacrificing a ton!

Sign up for your classes on time! You don't want to miss out on the classes you really want or need because someone else got your spot first! Also, don't overload yourself. Though it's not a university, it's still easy to become overwhelmed!

Great for these types of students

i would say pick your classes early because you don't know when you will be stuck on the waiting list. Also pay right after you sign up for your classes so you don't get bumped from your classes that you are already signed up in.

    Did learn a lot

As of this is my first college I went to, this school taught me a lot about being responsible. Not only for my classes and great education, but for myself. It may sound cliche, but it was a wonderful school with enthusiastic teachers. Every single one of my teachers truly and thoroughly taught their lessons to us, and had a great passion for what they did.

    Did enjoy being here

It was truly an enjoyable experience. It was a hard decision to continue my education elsewhere.

    Bang for the buck

Bellevue's tuition costs were relatively the same to other community colleges. Of course now it is a regular college, so I am not so sure now. But I don't expect it to be too different.

    Tips for prospective students

Sign up for any of your classes early! Just like all colleges, to ensure that you get what you need, you need to make sure you get in as soon as you can because this college is a fairly large school, so there's a lot of other students trying to do the same thing. And if you don't get in, you'll be on the waitlist, which doesn't necessarily grant you a spot in the class. Also! The beginning of the quarter is always a busy time for the main office, so if you need to go in for a counselor or to register or to pay for anything or to buy books (all conveniently located in one giant room, which can obviously make it even more busy), go in there a lot earlier than you think you'd need to. There was always a huge and slightly confusing line for the first two weeks.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for all students.

    Did learn a lot

When I attended Bellevue College, it was still considered a community college. For this reason, the school and it's students did not receive the respect they deserved. However, despite its CC status, Bellevue provided me with some of the most eye-opening and educational experiences of my life. The classes and professors at Bellevue College are interesting, unique, and cutting edge. As a sociology and English student, I took several classes regarding social issues through the ages. After studying with the professors in these areas, my mind has been forever changed. Upon leaving Bellevue, I have been armed with a completely new and much more informed outlook on life. I think about my classes and professors on a daily basis and will never forget what I learned.

    Did enjoy being here

In my first quarter at BC (then BCC), I was a high school junior and running start student. Being able to leave behind the constraints of my high school for the freedom of a college campus was one of the greatest opportunities I've ever been given. This transition rejuvenated my passion for school and allowed me to excel more than I had in the past. Also, the campus itself is perfect for a new college student, with a centrally located cafe for socializing and meeting new people as well as plenty of open grassy areas for studying and relaxing. So far as the classroom experience goes, I've never had a better experience than I did at BC. The professors and students alike are extremely welcoming and the learning environments are open and comfortable. It truly pays off to be able to have small classes and personal relationships with each of your professors.

Like every campus, Bellevue College has its cons. For example, although the campus is a great place to be, the weather hardly ever permits any outdoor relaxation. For most of the school year, students have to trek through the rain, sleet, and snow. Also, because of the fact that BC is a commuter school, meeting and maintaining friendships proves to be quite difficult. Most students are on campus strictly to take their classes, rather than to meet people and socialize. This can result in a rather lonely feeling sometimes. So, in order to form a network of friends, you will have to reach out to interest groups and campus clubs.

    Bang for the buck

It's easy to feel like a thief as a BC student because you get a top notch education for next to no cost. Having just recently gone through the transition from CC to four-year college, BC still has the tuition of an average community college. However, the education you receive is far superior to any CC. Therefore, as a student at Bellevue College, you will receive an extremely high level education for an extremely low cost.

    Tips for prospective students

Get to campus early or take the bus! Parking is an absolute nightmare at Bellevue College. Because of the fact that there is no campus housing, each and every student commutes to school on a daily basis. Therefore, despite the nearly fifteen parking lots, it still becomes next to impossible to find parking between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM. So, it is definitely wise to invest in a student bus pass or organize a carpool system with friends.

Join a club. If you're interested in meeting people and making friends during your time at BC, you're definitely going to have to reach out. It's possible to meet good people, but not if you don't put in the effort.

Great for these types of students

Possibly the greatest quality about Bellevue College is that it isn't geared to just one or two types of students. The student body is one of the most diverse populations one could imagine. Interests, activities, and styles vary astronomically from person to person. However, if you're looking for the ultimate college experience, complete with lots of school spirit and a huge group of friends, BC probably isn't your best bet. But if you're looking for a calm environment where you can truly learn and focus on your classes and activities, BC is the perfect choice. Most importantly, BC is perfect for people who have a lot on their plate (i.e., jobs, families, etc.). I guarantee that whoever you are, you will be able to find something to love at Bellevue College.

    Am learning a lot

I have been a student at Bellevue College (formally know as Bellevue Community College) for a full year. All of my teachers to the most part have been friendly and helpful. I have learned so much since the beginning of my college career. Every class Is packed with information, sometimes it seems overwhelming but that seems to be somewhat normal in college.

    Am enjoying being here

I do enjoy being here and am very glad I made the decision to even start going to college. Previously to my college career, I only had a G.E.D. and in today's economy etc, its hard to find a good job without a college education.

    Bang for the buck

This school is inexpensive compared to other colleges and univeristys as it used to be a community college. However, the recent washington state tax hike of 7% did increase tuition a bit.

    Tips for prospective students

Simply pay attention, do the coursework and take notes if it helps, go to class and strive to succeed and if you do those few steps obtaining a degree isn't too difficult.

Great for these types of students

I'm somewhat unsure of what this section great for these types of students exactly means. I will simply leave a breif conclusion of what I think about the school. Overall BC is an excellent school and a great place to start for GED and high school grads alike!
