Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Go to RateMyProfessor.com, ask students, and you will avoid the difficult staff and professors. Then you will meet only the best and the most professional people you could ever encounter!!
Am enjoying being here I am very involved in my school. If you say I don't know what's out there or how do I get involved in Lehman go to the student life building. Ask for the Associate Director of Campus Life Mr. Ray Flook and meet him. From there your life will never be the same!!He knows a lot and what he doesn't know he'll point you in the right direction. Also Amanda Dubois of Community Service, Service Learning and First Year Students. She's Amazing as well.
Bang for the buck It's $2,300 a semester, that's $4600 a year, they have a pay as you go program called the hard time Deferment plan that pays Half of whatever you owe and there are jobs all over campus!!! The most you have to worry about are transportation( which the train/ bus and roads are all just a couple of feet away), food and cell phone bills.
Tips for prospective students You MUST REACH OUT!!! It is a commuter school and with that there are a many students who put this school third on their list, are transferring from it or too it. If you reach out and use all of the Campus Services that are available you will have not only the best college experience but the most productive and beneficial time of your life!! Guaranteed.
Great for these types of students International, Commuting, Adult, Student Leaders, First Year Students(straight from high school, or never attended college etc..) and Disabled. If I missed anyone, I just forgot, it's good for everyone.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The curriculum can definetly be challenging but generally differs from teacher to teacher. The FYI program for freshman is really great at providing a safe environment for first-timers by providing a block schedule for the first semester. Plus the college places high emphasis on the liberal arts, especially composition, so be ready to write.
Am enjoying being here Unfortunately if you're eager and have a lot of drive it will be a bit depressing being around most students here. A lot of them just don't seem to care, especially since the tuition is so low and financial aid is so great the only thing to lose by being lackadaisical is time until they cut your funding. But otherwise the clubs are great and events, though rare, are fun and worthwhile.
Bang for the buck Any school is what you make of it, but overall Lehman is worth checking out since its close to Fordham Road which is great for shopping and food, especially since showing your student id gets you discounts at a lot of places.
Tips for prospective students DO EVERYTHING EARLY! Its always wise to get everything out of the way before the last minute but since there are hundreds of applicants a year and limited staff, it should be a priority. I also recommend good SAT scores since without those you'll need to take a Compass test which is an automatic rejection if you fail.
Great for these types of students Its a commuter school, so anyone who likes travel and meeting...interesting characters on the subway and/or bus would definitely like it here. Not to mention theres also a great gym facility here and good sports teams for athletes.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a freshman straight out of high school, I wanted a school that will make the transition a less hassle. The staff and the people you meet are really nice. My professors never bored me, they were interesting and knew what they were teaching. Lehman really surprised me.
Am enjoying being here I have definitely made some great friends. The people in your classes are really easy to get along with. There are a lot activities that are always occurring. There is campus life building that is full with people, you could go there to study, social, or find student discounts to various Broadway shows. Also the college is not far from the train.
Bang for the buck Since Lehman is part of the City University, tuition is not that crazy or expensive compared to private universities. You definitely get what you are paying for, however it depends how you spend your time on campus. One can go to the Career service center to help plan their future, the wellness center, the state of the art gym (Olympic size swimming pool, dance studio, weight lifting room and etc), the library, or the campus life building. However, it depends on how you take advantage of everything that is offered there and it's free for students!!
Tips for prospective students One thing I would say to prospective students is take advantage of every opportunity college offers you. If there is workshops that will help you become the best student you can possibly be, hey why not take it. It will indeed help you. Every place you visit on campus with questions will help you in every way possible.
Great for these types of students Lehman is a great school for people that want to have a well rounded education. Since it is a liberal arts college, you'll be taking classes in various areas that will make you more aware of the world in whole. You may go into college with a major and taking the many distributed courses may indeed help you find the major that best suits you. On top of that there is a great support system behind, no one wants to see you fail and you shouldn't either. Lehman has over 80 majors, so there is something for everyone. You'll walk in as a uncertain student and walk out as a well trained professional. Lehman is a great school and should be one of your choices.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Lehman college is highly organized with rigorous academic standards. The professors are all highly qualified and offer immense assistance with any career needs. Also the school is located 45 minutes from NYC through public transportation.
Tips for prospective students Get informed! Take the initiative now that your applying for colleges to get all the information you can. Plan and study hard as well as make as many connections as possible.
What to do for fun It's a commuter college so there are no dorms. What to do is pretty much study and go the manhattan on your free time since it is so close to public transportation.
Campus Safety I personally feel very safe on campus. No one asks for ID but outside of the campus beware. We are in the Bronx so the types of individuals you encounter outside of the campus may not be too thrilling.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Overall great environment, feel like your upstate but your actually in the city. There are a huge range of classes available to any interest.
Food and Dining Food is pretty good a bit expensive but no worries many other options are available near outside campus.
What to do for fun Student life building offers games like xbox, ping pong, pool tables & a whole bunch of clubs.
Bang for the buck Tuition is pretty affordable defiantly worth it.
Clubs and Activities There are a huge range of clubs for example anime club, newspaper, dance club, community service clubs and a Greek life club.
Greek Life There is a Greek life club and a couple of org members around the school.
Campus Safety School Safety officers are always alert and they are easy to contact.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences If you're looking to keep costs low and still have a quality education, Lehman's a good place to start. Transitioning here from high school is easy, and everyone on campus is welcoming and friendly, and the campus is quite beautiful too! The perfect size and find to everything, it's got history and flair.
Tips for prospective students If you've no idea which college to start off at, unsure of where to go while keeping costs low, Lehman's the place to be. You don't have to buy the textbooks for every class, wait a while before making the decision to. And always keep up with the material!
Academic Rigor The classes are your usual 20-30 students to one professor, but that's cool. Makes getting used to college classes easier. The work is a little more than what you probably did at high school, but that's expected. Still earning a quality education at a good price.
Dorm Life While there is student housing available, most people that come to college live at home or have an apartment, as Lehman's more of a commuter campus. It's more of a community feel here.
Food and Dining There's a Starbucks within the campus for those coffee lovers, so that's definitely worth checking out. And then there's the usual cafeteria that is made of stations that serves sandwiches made on the spot, salads to your specifications, Chinese, sushi, pizza, and many hot entrees for a lunch. There's also a huge selection of drinks, fruit, and snacks to choose from. And if you're not up to buying from the cafeteria to sit down and eat, you could always either grab a quick snack from the vending machine. The best for your buck though would be to grab some halal food at the cart nearest to the gate leading to the train station outside. The man that runs it is the best!
What to do for fun There are many clubs to join here, and tons of volunteer activities to do. It's also cool to sit on the grass and chill with friends, along with going to the APEX to exercise some stress off. Likewise, anyone can sit at the tables and bleachers just to sit and relax.
Bang for the buck Wouldn't have to worry about loans just yet, TAP and Federal Pell should help with the costs in the beginning. Definitely look into internships and scholarships very early however! Every dollar counts.
Great for these types of students Hard working, commuter, education focused people.
Clubs and Activities Great variety to join, look into them when you've the chance to!
Campus Safety If at night you need help on being escorted to the train station, you can always use one of the buzz stations and a security guard will come and aid you.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Lehman has a beautiful campus and the library and computer facilities are more than adequate for the demands of the curriculum. The student population is as diverse as New York City itself, however, there is still a comraderie among the students -- despite these differences. The faculty members that I've taken classes with have been knowledgeable in the related subject and make themselves available outside of the classroom for students who need additional instruction.
Tips for prospective students Network, network, network! When you find a good professor, office administrator, student, etc. who is really excellent in a particular area, make note of that person's name and contact information. Having a go-to person who gives you accurate and up-to-date information is an invaluable resource.
Academic Rigor Academic rigor, in my experience, is determined more by the professor you have rather than the actual course material. A really thorough and accomodating professor can make a rigorous course seem like a breeze.
Food and Dining As far as the cost of food is concerned, the food is subsidized, so it's not as expensive compared to off-campus restaurants. The food selections are broad (e.g. they recently added sushi to the cafeteria menu) and you can usually find something to suit your tastebuds, whether you want a light snack or something a little heavier. The taste of the food is okay, overall, but it does the job when you want to grab something quick to eat before/after a class.
What to do for fun In addition to campus events, and events that are hosted by specific clubs on campus, Lehman College Theater hosts a variety of concerts, plays, dance shows and more. The external events are sometimes discounted for Lehman students with a validated ID.
Bang for the buck The cost of tuition has gone up due to budget cuts in New York City, however, CUNY schools are still among the more affordable of options for those who want to pursue a degree in higher education.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences lehman college has a nice, open layout with wonderful lawns and great outdoor athletic facilites. their professors are all about helping you, the student, get the greatest education you can get and are willing to help you in any way possible. just keep up with the classes you need to take and you will have a great experience!
Tips for prospective students keep up a clean appearance and a close eye on the classes you need to take! lehman is all about how you represent yourself. if you look dingy and come to them with a disrespectful attitude you will get it back. also, keep an eye and stay up to date on the classes you need to take and ask questions, they wont tell you everything till the last minute.
Academic Rigor their standards vary depending on majors. for example, the nursing and business department are very strict and difficult to get into. others are lax and rather helpful
Dorm Life to my knowledge there are no dorms at lehman
Food and Dining the food choices on campus are great! they have a wonderful diversity, anything from sushi to chinese to american and italian.
What to do for fun the student life building at lehman holds many wonderful groups and activities for the students on campus. there is a games room, radio station, and out door athletic facilities free for anyone to use. the apex has a great gym and a wonderfully sized swimming pool for those on the more aquatic side
Bang for the buck prices on campus arent too bad, you can definately get a deal on some items or you can end up paying more.
Campus Safety walking around campus or even in the buildings there is usually a campus police duo roaming around the halls and campus
