Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot During my first year of college, I found that there is so much a student can learn - whether it be in-depth knowledge in a particular subject or about the college system itself - moreover, each student is responsible for taking the initiative to learn. At California State University - Fullerton, most of the teachers I've come across only give their students the information they need to pass a class. It is up to the student to take time and ask a question or go to office hours so that he can learn and more fully understand the subject.
Am enjoying being here At Cal State Fullerton, I have met some very kind, helpful, and intelligent teachers as well as friendly and smart students. However, a lot of teachers don't push their students to learn more and try harder. Especially in GE classes, more than half of the students in a particular class only want to pass the class with a C. This is the case in most colleges, but I hadn't expected it when I enrolled at this university. I would enjoy a more challenging environment.
Bang for the buck Compared to other schools outside of California, Cal State Fullerton is a cheap school considering the amount of learning, opportunity, and resources a student can take advantage of. Even within California, Cal State Fullerton is decently priced.
Tips for prospective students Ask questions in class. Take advantage of your professor's office hours. Become involved on campus in an organization you are interested in.
Great for these types of students Cal State Fullerton is a good school for all students, especially those in business or musical theater; however, I it is not the best for those in the natural sciences, mathamatics, or computers.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes at Cal State University, Fullerton are fairly easy. I had expected college to be a lot more difficult, but CSUF has proved otherwise. Although the classes are not difficult, they have allowed me to grow intellectually. The professors don't necessarily assign huge work loads, instead they assign assignments and projects that are relevant to the class and real life. The professors help you develop your critical thinking skills by opening your eyes to seeing things from different perspectives by encouraging classroom and group discussions. Many of the professors have unique teaching styles that are very effective in having their students learn.
Am enjoying being here Cal State University, Fullerton is a commuter school, therefore most of the students in class are there to get it done with so they can go home. There isn't much of a social aspect here and it's difficult to meet new friends. The school has apartment-style dorms that house only 800 students, which is only 2% of the student population. There are much more students that live off campus, but they are dispersed throughout the city. Meeting people in class is difficult and you have to make an effort to meet people- check out the clubs and student organizations on campus at the DiscoverFest held in the quad at the beginning of the semester, it will make your experience here more enjoyable.
Bang for the buck All the schools within the CSU system are pretty affordable, but there have been huge budget cuts and tuition hikes. Within the last year, tuition has increased almost $1,000. Not only has tuition increased, but teachers are being told to take furlough 6 days a semester that will cut their salaries by 10%. Students are paying 30% more, but is receiving 10% less for their education because teachers don't have classes on their furlough days. Even with the tuition hikes, Cal State University, Fullerton is more affordable than other 4-year universities.
Tips for prospective students Sign up for a Freshman Program after you get accepted, because you will receive priority registration for your first semester and help you adjust better your first semester because you are enrolled in a University 100 class with helpful professors, mentors, and CSUF staff. Sign up for the Finish in Four program around October of your first semester because that enables you to have priority registration during your 4 years at this institution. Having priority registration is a big deal because it's very difficult to get the classes you need with the budget cuts (they cut lots of classes). Also, look your professors up on RateMyProfessor.com because having a good professor makes a BIG difference.
Great for these types of students CSUF has a great Business program and is also great for Musical Theatre and Nursing. The Mihaylo College of Business and Economics was one of Princeton Review's Best 296 Business Schools, is the largest business school in California, and the fifth largest in the United States. The Musical Theatre program is one of the best in the country.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot In high school, I breezed through without cracking a book because most of the teachers didn't make me want to learn. Here, at Cal State Fullerton, all my professors are passionate about the subject they teach so it makes me eager to learn from them. The teachers here don't want to just give you a grade, they want to spread knowledge.
Am enjoying being here The first month of school was alright for me because ASI puts on a lot of freshmen activities to get to know people but they aren't always huge because CSUF is a commuter school. The best thing a student can do here is join a club- whether it's ASI, spirit, Greek life, anything. After going through sorority recruitment last fall my life has improved by leaps and miles. Greek life doesn't just boost your social calendar, it teaches you time management, helps you serve the community, and provides you with a sisterhood or brotherhood that will last a lifetime. I can't speak for other clubs at CSUF but I know that any member will tell you the same... join a club and enjoy CSUF life!
Bang for the buck Since CA budgets are very tight, it has been somewhat difficult to enroll in the exact classes students want this semester. In comparison to other schools, our tuition is VERY low and, considering how great our professors and programs are, I think the money is worth it.
Tips for prospective students Take your ELM and EPT as soon as possible and turn in your high school transcripts as well. Be flexible with the schedule you want- save yourself from the disappointment that students don't always get a perfect schedule. Use ratemyprofessors.com when picking your classes. Join a club and definitely go Greek!
Great for these types of students Anyone. Our school is very diverse!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Many of the professors at Cal State Fullerton are very knowledgable in their respected area of study, and show a great deal of passion about the topics they teach. The education is of a very high quality, and the curriculum is very intellectually challenging. There are some courses that would be considered easy, but you actually learn a lot -even if you don't do a lot. I think that the classes and the way of teaching at CSUF is more theoretical, and less hands-on.
Am enjoying being here The campus at Fullerton is very large and beautiful. My favorite part of being on this campus is the fact that it seems very close to nature. There are little bunnies and other small creatures that come out and graze on the grass at night, and it is absolutely heart-wrenching. However, I cannot speak as highly of the quality of the students that attend this school. Perhaps it is because I am not used to the OC lifestyle, but it's very difficult to communicate or relate to many of the students here. Many of them do not care about school and grades, so most of the time, they have a tendency to interrupt your classroom time.
Bang for the buck Even though CSU's are experiencing a lot of furlough days due to budget cuts, CSU Fullerton has actually dealt with this situation very well. Instead of cutting out winter or summer classes altogether, they have chosen to take a few days out of the regular school semester, which means.. lots of vacations! Also, there are many scholarships offered on-campus that can really help out.
Tips for prospective students If you want to do well in classes, attend professors' office hours! They are very helpful and it allows for better one-on-one instruction. It's especially helpful if your class sizes are very large. It's not like in high school, where the teachers know your names and your work ethic. The only way you can get in good with the professors are to attend the office hours.
If you are having financial trouble, and would still love to attend college, I really recommend applying for the President Scholars Program. Besides getting a full ride, you also can get many perks like free parking passes, use of a laptop, and early registration-(which is SOOO important as a freshman). You can visit http://www.fullerton.edu/scholars/ for more information.Great for these types of students CSUF is great for Business majors- the Business program here is absolutely fantastic and very prominent. This is also a great school to attend if you plan on going in the educational route. CSUF has a great teaching credential program, and getting a credential from this school can score big time with future employers. This is also a great school for students who like to be challenged intellectually, and prefer to use their brain more than their hands.

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot It was so valuable to update my career at this time, with technology and practice updates. The teaching methodology was well aligned with the RN returning to school.Very supportive.
Did enjoy being here I chose CSF because they opened a class in Pomona Valley,a nearby hospital. As I completed my first year, the Pomona cohort was moved to the main campus and I could not continue as I had just been promoted.
Bang for the buck I used every bit I learned in that first year, from updating how to use the computer based articles and refreshed pediatric nursing in my job. I still refer to Ages and Stages for help with friends and neighbors!
Tips for prospective students It is so worthwhile to grow. Currently I am laid off with an incomplete BSN,very difficult to get another manager position without it in Southern Ca. Get this under your belt, and move on the MSN if you want to climb higher.
Great for these types of students Great for students of all ages.I was in class with new RN's,seasoned RN's,RN's returning to the acute care setting too. We each had so much to share and learn from each others point of view.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot At CSUF, as far as instructors go, you get a fair share of full-out college professors, as well as Graduate Students. Both do their jobs well and most know the subject they're teaching inside and out. I'm definitely getting my money's worth. Most of the professors I've had so far have told the class that they want us to be successful and learn; my Humans Communications Professor last semester told us that she wants us to be able to think critically and that her goal was not to fail us or confuse us on exams, and that she would always meet us halfway but it was up to us to put in the other fifty percent. So far, my experience at CSUF has been an enjoyable one.
Am enjoying being here Cal State Fullerton is a good school for me personally because all the buildings and classrooms are easily accessible, and within a decent distance. The lot that I park in is close to campus, so when I want to go home I don't have to do a lot of walking just to leave. It offers many interesting clubs that show spirit and do what they can to recruit new members during our club rushes. The professors are nice and know what they're doing.
My favorite part of CSUF is probably the diversity in students and teachers. There's a little bit of everything.Bang for the buck All Cal States at the point in time are raising tuition and CSUF is no different. I'm definitely getting a good education, but I don't entirely agree with the rise in tuition. This is not a reflect on the school itself, but the chain of Cal States in general. I do, however, believe that CSUF is worth the money that I'm paying.
Tips for prospective students If you're thinking of attending Cal State Fullerton, I do recommend it. I see it as more of a commuting school, meaning I don't see a lot of students hanging around campus when classes aren't in session; I see it as more of a school where students come solely to take their classes and go home. We do have a wide variety of clubs, from cultural to educational to recreational. We even have a roller dirby club, which I found very interesting. There are also many clubs supporting specific majors, such as the Society of Professional Journalists, etc. Unfortunately, our school does not have a football team, so if you're looking for that, maybe the school isn't really for you. Other than that, CSUF has a lot to offer and keep its students busy when they aren't studying or doing homework.
Great for these types of students Cal State Fullerton's campus is quite small, making it great for students who fear getting lost or not making it to their classes on time. I've had schedules with 10 minute gaps between each class and I've managed to make it to all of them on time. This school is perfect for Business majors. We have a brand new Business building, Steven G. Mihaylo Hall, and a wide variety of business courses. We also have an outstanding Dance and Theater program, which our school is nationally known for.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Cal State Fullerton is a great Business school. It has taught me so much and the teachers there are great. Most of the professors love their jobs and are always available and willing to help their students. In my opinion, this school has the best Business program out of any of the Cal State schools. Their dual accreditation in Business and Finance makes it a great choice and a great learning experience.
Am enjoying being here This school is mainly a commuter school, so meeting people is sometimes hard. I too drove to school everyday; but, if I had the option, I would love to live on campus or in one of the surrounding apartments. It's a great way to meet new people and get the college life most people want. The school is great and has an amazing gym, bowling alley, pool room, and pub. Overall, the environment is great.
Bang for the buck CSUF is fairly cheap compared to other schools. The state budget crisis for the 2009-2010 school year has however made the cost rise. Although it has been hectic registering for classes as well as paying for classes this year, I still feel like the education at this school is worth the money. Some people go to community colleges before a university, but I personally think that holds students back and it usually takes them 5 years to graduate. Going to CSUF straight out of high school is definitely worth the money.
Tips for prospective students Ratemyprofessors.com is a great website to go to before registering. This gives you a feeling about how the teachers are and which classes you should take. In my experience, it has been very accurate. Also, if you are entering as a Freshman, you take your school ID picture the day of orientation, and you also register for classes that day. It would be a good idea to choose the earliest orientation day you can so that you won't have to worry about classes being filled.
Great for these types of students This school has a great baseball team, and would be great for business majors as well as those who want to become teachers. There is a large variety of people who go to this school, so anyone would fit in at this school. If you are outgoing, try to live in a dorm.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The beauty about Cal State Fullerton is its diversity. No matter what you are going through in life, no matter what your outlook on college is, no matter how easy or hard things are for you, I guarantee you will have others around you who feel the same. At Fullerton we are a family; all working together as one unit but each individually contributing in our own way.
Tips for prospective students ratemyprofessors.com This applies to any college. Even though everyone's views of teachers are different, this website has always been for the most part accurate for myself. I'd have to stay I have made my own schedule every semester with loving, fun teachers who care about education and the future of their students. This provides for a great learning atmosphere that will enhance your college experience to its fullest.
Academic Rigor This completely differs for each student based on many different factors the individual is working with such as if they are going to work, doing athletics, etc... From my experience personally, I have had very reasonable expectations put upon me. I feel the staff knows that there is more going on in our lives than just school, however I feel they believe in us and help push us to work hard so we will feel accomplished when receiving our degrees.
Dorm Life Personally I have lived in apartments walking distance from school my three years of being here. I have experienced everything you can imagine from living with two other roommates (male and female) to living with five other roommates (all female). Everyone semester has been a fun adventure in its own way. As for the dorms, I have seen them and have been inside of them. They are beautifully constructed buildings. There are always students walking around and it seems like they all enjoy themselves. There is also the Gastronome where all the students from the dorms can eat together. The only negative thing i have heard is that they are more costly than the apartments.
Food and Dining I have been going to Fullerton for three years and have only ate on camps once! There are many places to eat off of camps that are very close. There are also lots of good places to eat on camps I always want to go to but haven't made my way to yet such as Panda express located in the food court! There are also plenty of grocery stores located around that sell the typical Ramen in all flavors.
What to do for fun Again this is a personal opinion. There are so many clubs, events, groups, etc.. that everyone is open to all the fun they want. There are free movie nights, underwear runs, concerts, etc... Many people, and I hope yo do as well, choose classes that fit your personality and are fun to take as well. What I do for fun is hang out with my roommates. We study together and keep each other focused, but also reward our hard work and play hard.
Bang for the buck Some people think if you pay more you will be provided a better education. Perhaps that is true, but all I know is that Fullerton has provided me with enough resources to learn, grow, and expand my knowledge everyday.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus If you love nature or flowers, this school has an amazing arboretum. Men, if your hormones are out of whack like every other college student and want to take a girl somewhere in between classes..hint hint.
Campus Safety Excellent atmosphere. Even having night classes, I have always felt safe. There are also poles everywhere where you could contact the police if needed.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences fullerton is a great campus with great resources once you figure out what you want to do and where you want to go in life. the faculty on this campus is fantastic, and the area is beautiful. overall, it's a great university and only getting better.
Tips for prospective students get involved! although it can be considered somewhat a commuter university, there are a lot of amazing clubs, resources, and people on campus to discover!
Academic Rigor overall, it depends on the student, but i found that there are challenging classes all over every department. yes, there are certainly awesome classes that you can take for fun, but to gain a degree you have to work hard!
Dorm Life i didn't live in the dorms, but knew friends that did. they have recently added several new dorm buildings and a cafeteria called the gastronome, which is amazing. the ras also do a fantastic job of integrating activities in the building to bring people together.
Food and Dining there are awesome food options all over campus! panda express, round table, fresh kitchen, togo's, and more are located in the titan student union. additionally, however, there are food trucks that come to campus every day to serve more options. lastly, the school is surrounded by awesome off-campus dining like the habit, wich wich, and cantina lounge. downtown fullerton is also about five minutes away with countless delicious restaurants.
What to do for fun downtown fullerton is an amazing location to hang out either in the daytime or nighttime. getting involved in clubs is also really fun once you find out what interests you!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences csuf is an amazing place to experience an academic and social life. the school truly cares about its students and the students care about one another. it's a community that not only expands your education, but broadens your mind.
Tips for prospective students i would recommend students to really take into consideration everything that csuf has to offer. the school has an abundance of resources ranging from academics to social life. you cannot afford not to attend csuf because the school is really helpful and is always giving back to its students in one way or another.
i would recommend to participate in class, lose fear of public speaking. go to office hours and ask questions. make friends in class to form study groups.Academic Rigor expectations at csuf are set high. it's not strictly about the grades, it's also about the growth of cultural knowledge, experience, and understanding.
it's not that difficult of a school either, so don't stress.Dorm Life i do not live in the dorms, but i have visited them and they are amazing! the technology is great! also, they have various resources, like study rooms, available exclusively to students that dorm.
Food and Dining food is delicious! prices vary and they are student budget friendly. there are healthy alternatives too! there are so many places to eat at including the titan student union which has a beautiful courtyard. you'll never get bored! you'll find that you will learn of a new favorite place to eat and relax all the time!
What to do for fun there is so much to do. at school you can play various games, like bowling, you can go to the student recreation center for some exercise, you can go to the arboretum, you can attend one of the movie events, or you can listen to bands. there is so much to do!
plus, disneyland and knott's are not so far away. downtown fullerton is always popular. going to l.a. is fun too and even on long weekends you can plan a trip to san diego.Bang for the buck school is expensive, but csuf is really fair.
Great for these types of students all types of students who want to have a fulfilling college experience.
Clubs and Activities there are all sorts of clubs and activities year-round. students can attend meetings and orientations to familiarize themselves with clubs. activities are always fun to attend! everyone is so friendly and clubs are a great opportunity to gain leadership experience and in general to be a part of something.
Campus Safety excellent! you will always feel safe at csuf because they have their own police unit! apart from the csuf police patrolling, there are various emergency blue phone polls all over campus. you can request a safety escort from there or any campus telephone too.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Cal State Fullerton is actually a great learning environment. So far, all of my professors have been more than happy to help me with anything, from calculating my grade to helping me understand the material. The professors are also nearly always available during their office hours and encourage that you attend them if you need help. It may seem scary to go ask your professor for help, but they are amazing and more than helpful, not condescending at all. Additionally, even though you don't realize it, you are learning so much in one semester without feeling rushed at all.
Am enjoying being here Cal State Fullerton always has something to do, even if you aren't living on campus. It has virtually any kind of club you can think of and join. It also has many nice places you can hang out in, do homework, or wait around for your next class at.
Bang for the buck How much bang you get for your buck is really up to you. Cal State Fullerton is relatively cheap compared to other schools but it's not free. If you want to graduate as soon as possible and pay the least amount of money possible, you need to make sure you pass all of your classes. Don't waste your time and think all I need to do is pass this class. If you have that attitude, you're going to end up failing a class and eventually paying more! But assuming you pass all of your classes and what you're paying for, CSUF really does give you a lot of benefits you can use (such as using the Health Center whenever) that is included in your fees.
Tips for prospective students My first tip for any student looking at any college is to relax. Being a college student I know how stressful college searching can be, especially when making your decision. If you are attending CSUF as a first time freshman (not sure about transfer students), you need to know that going into registration and orientation is going to be very stressful and scary. Registering will be a nightmare because you aren't really allowed to talk to your friends or family about creating your schedule, since you compile it there. While registering you need to not panic and relax. Systems may go down, people may not be helpful, and you may not get a class that you wanted at a certain time. Yet being a first time freshman, you have an advantage. You have so many choices (except for your English and Math class) to create your schedule out of. If one class doesn't work out, then try getting a different one. Have a list of classes you could take with a lot of potential classes in case you don't get a couple of classes! The last tip I have would be get there early for parking! Parking can be a bit of a nightmare, especially the first few weeks of the semester. I would say get to school at least a half an hour early, depending on what time you start class at, to search for parking, either in a structure or in a flat lot.
Great for these types of students At CSUF, I really don't see a type of student that this school wouldn't be great for. CSUF is quite diverse and has a huge variety of activities to do on campus for any type of person. It really is a school that is great for everyone! The only type of person I can say shouldn't come to this school, is a commuter who doesn't like traffic at all. Depending on where you're driving from, traffic can take quite a while.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Most of your G.E.'s are going to be a joke. Your major classes will be the ones that are informative and interesting.
Am enjoying being here Nice atmosphere, great weather, and REALLY close to Disneyland.
Bang for the buck Cheap, cheap, cheap especially compared to the UCs. Great school for in-staters. It's a decent commuter school, too -- just make sure to get there early for parking.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking to dorm, the dorms are ridiculously spacious and fancy. The single dorms, while more expensive, let you have your OWN ROOM...so if you get home from class and need to unwind without your roomies bothering you, you can shut yourself up in your room and do homework or watch hulu. Both the doubles and singles have 2 bathrooms per suite, with a kitchen (with a stove, fridge, microwave, basically everything you need), and a furnished living room-- commodities that are not included in most college dorms that I've experienced. The singles have 4 bedrooms, and the doubles have 3 bedrooms. In the singles you will have 3 roommates with one in each bedroom, and in the doubles you will have 5 roommates with 2 in each room. Just make sure that you like your roommates -- I had roommate trouble last year, it was not fun one bit!
Great for these types of students If you love theatre, musical theatre, or directing and are planning on studying any one of these things in college, Cal State Fullerton is the school for you. The theatre department takes itself very seriously, You will learn a LOT. The teachers are wonderful, and will push you to be a better performer. Admittedly, it is difficult to attain a BFA at this school, but if you are looking for good training in the field of acting or musical theatre, and you don't want to pay crazy amounts of money for tuition, go to Cal State Fullerton. The plays and musicals they put on are KILLER. Everything from the acting to the sets are superb. I've checked out Cal State Long Beach and USC and their theatre departments are a little lacking when compared to CSUF. I'm very happy with the musical theatre education I am getting. There is a lot of focus on dance, which is totally awesome. However, if you are looking to study musical theatre and you hate dancing or are scared of dancing, you might be out of your comfort zone. Just in my freshman year I was in 3 dances classes-- tap, ballet, and jazz-- all wonderful classes, and I learned a LOT. Overall, this school has a great theatre program. The teachers are helpful and push you to be a better performer. Not to mention, in-state tuition is a great bang for the buck. Not to be glanced over if looking to study theatre.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot If you have any questions, it is best to go to the professor's office hours for help. I recommend to pay attention in class and if you are not on campus, do not be afraid to email the teacher for help.
Am enjoying being here There are so many ways to get involved. I joined a club with my friend and it revolved around sporting and social events. Getting involved really helps with meeting new people, especially if you commute.
Bang for the buck Tuition may be increasing, but this school is not bad. I heard it has the lowest tuition compared to other Cal States, and a better education system.
Tips for prospective students My main point is to get involved and meet new people. School can also become a lot easier if you ask for help from professors.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Students at any university usually have more drive than students attending junior colleges because mostly everyone comes to four-year colleges to succeed in life someway or another. I learn as much as I want to with as much effort I put into the class. There are many resources on campus to help students succeed in their classes, like peer tutors or the Writing Center. It really helps to take advantage of the professors' office hours or study groups.
Am enjoying being here It is extremely hard for a commuter to come to school then leave once classes are over and actually enjoy being here. My best advice would be to get involved! I joined a sorority during my first year of college and it was the best decision I ever made. Feeling like you are apart of something and making new friends is a great feeling. There are a ton of groups and clubs on campus that can involve anyone with many different interests. Make the most out of college and you will not regret it.
Bang for the buck Unfortunately California State University schools tuition's are on the rise ever semester. This means it is best to not slack off and stay on track to graduate as soon as you can. College is super important and should not be put on the back burner because of money. Like I said it is the best to make the best out of your college experiences and college education so use all the free resources you can. There is a free health center for students and even a beautiful recreation center to work out in so use what you can.
Tips for prospective students I know it is hard to know exactly what you what to major in and do with your career, but it is hard to keep changing your major once in college. It is costly and time consuming so try to figure out what you want to do in high school and explore different options then. Also, I was told many times that it is best to take only 12 units or so when you first become a college freshman because it could be too overwhelming. I got behind in my units after my first year in college so taking just one more class will not be too overwhelming. Get good grades from the beginning because trying to raise your GPA after not so good grades is difficult.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students that want to be involved because they have to commute from home. I still commute and this is my third year into college and I do not mind because I am still at school all the time for recreation.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have only been in school for almost two months now, but I can definitely say that Cal State Fullerton has great faculty and staff that encourage their students to learn and engage inside the classroom. They are also pleased when you come into their office hours, even if it doesn't have to do with school work!
Am enjoying being here Clubs and organizations are always promoting events around campus, so you will always have a function to attend. There's usually free food at these events as well. I also love the fact that CSUF is nearby everything. For example, downtown Fullerton, the mall, Target, and the beach!
Bang for the buck CSUF's tuition is so worth it compared to other CSU campus'. Your financial aid will cover all the costs, including books, unless you plan on living on campus.
Tips for prospective students For prospective students, just remember to focus on your schoolwork as well as maintaining a well-rounded resume. CSUF does not just look for GPA, but community service as well as involvement in your school.
Great for these types of students Cal State Fullerton is such a diverse campus that it is great for all types of students. I know they have a great sports program as well as a winning dance team so anybody interested in that should definitely apply to CSUF.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Not so inviting at first and it is very possible for you to spend your years without speaking to anyone. Make sure to be a little brave and talk to people. Connect!
Tips for prospective students Not very rigorous academically. Use the excess time to get involved.
Academic Rigor Not at all difficult if you're from academically competitive high schools and took AP/IB courses. I'm going onto my third year and so far studying the lecture notes alone was good enough to get an A in most of my classes.
Dorm Life I commute so I don't know, but my friends seem to be satisfied.
Food and Dining Before Gastronome (a school cafeteria near the dorms) was built, the food choice on campus was just horrible especially when I didn't bring any food and didn't have a car (I currently get rides from my parents and am saving up money to buy a car). But with a car, you get a lot more variety. Drive out a minute or two and there is a plaza with bunch of fast-food chains and restaurants. Most of these restaurants try to offer competitive pricing, so don't expect the top quality dining. However, they are good enough. Now back to gastronome, they offer freshly cooked burger, grilled cheese and etc, and offers buffet style salad bar and dessert section. it's pretty good, but after a while the food choices get tiring.
What to do for fun Nothing at all if you are stuck on campus without a car. With a car, there's a mall, a theater, restaurants and etc available for you.
Campus Safety Nothing really goes on on campus as it is a commuter school. School gets crazy packed around 1 and 2 and is mostly empty in other times.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences A good education for a bargain price. Good teachers. Active community.
Tips for prospective students Pick your classes at least a 2-3 weeks before you register and register on time. Especially for freshman, the classes fill up fast and they don't always create a new class even if there are a lot of people who need the class, so be on top of your game.
Great for these types of students Good for business and any of the arts programs.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences CSUF provides excellent academic advising whether it may be for GE or your chosen major.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to take each class seriously and follow up with your academic adviser early on.
Academic Rigor As an art student the academic rigor truly depends on the efforts of each individual. But the push from professors is a bit soft for my liking.
Food and Dining Although CSUF has a few main stream fast food restaurants such as Panda Express, Juice it Up, Togo's, etc... the prices aren't that great. A filling meal will cost around 7-8 bucks. So I recommend bringing a lunch instead of purchasing from the TSU.
What to do for fun The Titan Student Union (TSU) is a well rounded activity center. Upstairs is the cafeteria, downstairs has the following: bowling, Billiards, Xbox for rental, a pub, and lounge area.s
Bang for the buck When those promotions go on at the Titan Walk, don't pass them up!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Pat the Fallen David's bottom for good luck during finals.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Is a great school that provides a variety of programs, activities, sports and classes. Not only does the school emphasize good grades and working hard but it also provides a lot of fun opportunities to de-stress during our current busy schedules.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend students to make use of the various services offered throughout the campus, such as the career center to help you along the way with your career decision and to make sure you stay on track with your goals.
Academic Rigor I quite enjoy the classes offered, they are quite challenging without being difficult, they interesting, informative and teachers are very friendly and will help students along the way. I always look forward to attending class because the subjects taught are great.
Dorm Life It is a wonderful experience because you the positive aspect of being near your classes, within walking distance and the comfort of living with your friends as well as making new friendships that will last a lifetime.
Food and Dining The food is extraordinary, I love eating at the school because not only I know the food is made right in front of my eyes, I know that I can a good meal in between my busy schedule. They have plenty of space for eating alone as well as with your friends.
What to do for fun There is so many activities to do for fun I almost don't which one to do first. On any given day of the week, there is fun happening on campus whether it is the bowling alley, video games or fun events put on by ASI.
Bang for the buck It is definitely a good bang for your buck, I am amazed how far my dollars are stretched to provide the wonderful educational value I receive as well the recreation center that provides a place to workout, clubs, free services, wonderful, I am on campus so often I feel I live there permanently.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This university is a commuter school. It is currently undergoing projects in creating opportunities to increase more college life on campus by producing more facilities for students. The overall mood and setting of the campus is very calm and laid back.
Tips for prospective students You hear it a lot, but get good grades. There are going to be times when you feel like the courses you take are pointless, and some of them are. Unfortunately, success is often times measured by grade point average and if you are thinking about moving onto higher education or trying to get into a program I.E the nursing program, then this is a very important aspect.
Academic Rigor Depending on your major, the intensity of the course will be different. Science and math being more rigorous. There are some general course that are harder than others, but overall, the general courses are easy.
Dorm Life I do not live in a dorm, however, I live off campus and it is really a fun experience.
Food and Dining We recently got a new cafeteria that caters to the general student body and the students that live in the dorms. A lot of students seem to like it. There is also a food court that is decent.
What to do for fun There are mainly lots of places to eat around campus. And there are many parties on frat row. Frat row is where are the fraternity houses are located.
Bang for the buck Take advantage of the student health center and the student rec center. I spend so much time in the student rec center. Of all the things on campus, I am grateful for these two facilities. You're paying for them anyways, so why not?
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have a broken Statue of David that broke into pieces during an Earthquake. The quake left Davids butt exposed. Because of this, a tradition developed that if you rub his butt, you will have good luck for your next exam.
Great for these types of students People who love the beach or kids who are into that hipster or indie scene. Cal State Fullerton is known for the college of business and for their performing arts program. The college of science and math are not good however.
Clubs and Activities Because this is a commuter school, the clubs and the sororities and fraternities somewhat contribute to school spirit. Other clubs like culture clubs hardly contribute school spirit, but joining one of these does improve the quality of your college experience being that you make a lot of friends through them. Be involved, its better than coming to class and just leaving.
Greek Life There is a Greek life here on campus, but it is not what you see on television. Its more tamed than what you see on television
Campus Safety Overall, I feel safe on this campus. We have campus police that patrols the campus. I can walk around at 3 o'clock in the morning and still feel safe.

Academic Rigor Very competitive and difficult classes
Dorm Life Hopefully get good roommates because I had a bad experience`
Food and Dining Pretty good food at the TSU

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences CSUF is a commuter school.
CSUF offers many classes so you always get the schedule you want.
CSUF is fun if you make it fun.Tips for prospective students Only take 12 units your first semester, because it takes time to get adjusted to way the classes are run. If you live on campus make sure to bring your car!
Academic Rigor Most of my classes have been difficult. Since many professors have PH-D's they expect a lot from all their students.
Dorm Life The Residence halls are good for making friends but it is hard to stay focused and on track. The apartment style dorms are nice because you have your own kitchen and a lot more privacy but it is not as easy to make friends.
Food and Dining The gastronome (dining hall) is in the middle of all the dorms. The food is pretty good because their are a lot of options. I love it as long as you give yourself variety you'll love it too.
What to do for fun Get a disneyland pass if you are going to live on campus it is definitely worth it. Also getting involved on campus is always a good idea.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I would rate this school a nine because it has so much to offer. It is still continuing to grow which is outstanding but I couldn't have been happier with my college choice. I have been here for four years and plan on coming back to get a credential and masters degree.
Tips for prospective students I would say make the best out of your college experience by living on campus and getting involved in any way you can. CSUF does a great job at trying to get students involved and make them feel like they are at home.
Academic Rigor I have met some of the most outstanding professors at Cal State Fullerton that made class challenging but very exciting to learn. They taught me many skills and life lessons that I can carry on through my career. I also had professors that were very caring and always willing to go out of their way to make sure you got the grade you deserved, even in times of trouble.
Dorm Life I actually did not live in the dorms beccause our new dorm complex opened up my senior year but I have been inside and it is amazing. I wish it would have been there when I was a freshman. I've heard great reviews about the new dorm and dining hall but we also have apartment style dorms which offer kitchens, living rooms, and multiple bedrooms.
Food and Dining Cal State Fullerton offers a wide choice of food and dining options. We have the buffet style at the dorm dining hall, starbucks, carls junior, chinese, italian, pizza, Togos, Juice it up, Cafes, and easy to go options when you are in a rush to get to class. After being there all four years I did begin to grow tired but I know they have plans to upgrade the dining.
What to do for fun Cal State Fullerton does a great job at offering students many things to do for their low budget. We have an underground bowling alley, arcade, television, video games, air hockey, pool tables, and a pizza pub. Our Associated Students Inc. also puts on free movie thursdays, kareoke days, and they bring a band to campus every week. Also, we have other events such as sports, tailgates, and homecoming week. There is always so much to participate in that I didn't even have time to get to it all. Also, once a year we hold a spring concert where they bring a popular band over and offer students a free show.
Bang for the buck With student fees continually rising I must say I am so happy I chose Cal State Fullerton to receive my bachelors degree. They offered me everything I needed to get started with my career at an affordable price. I got such a great education that most Universities have to pay tripple for. If this school has the program you need for your career, I highly reccommend attending.
Clubs and Activities There are clubs offered on campus for every interest possible. We have the engineering club, snowboarding club, hiking club, soccer club, teaching clubs, computer science, business, Associated Students, and so much more. Each of these clubs has their own set of activities but they all come together twice a year to run a club fair that give other students the opportunity to join.
Greek Life Cal State Fullerton also has a great greak life that is still growing. We have several different sororities and fraternities surrounding campus that all have their own houses. This offers a great opportunity for students to get involved and meet new people while also serving their community. Each sorority and fraternity is part of a community service project called a philanthropy, so you can choose the one that fits you best. The Greek life also offers many different options to get involved and hold leadership positions. Also, all sororities and fraternities come together once a year to hold an annual Greek Week where they work to raise money for the school's philanthropy, Camp Titan. Every year these organizations have raise over $20,000 to send underpriviledged children in the area to big bear for a week to experience camp.
Campus Safety Cal State Fullerton is highly patroled by police officers that have a station on campus. Also, every mile there is a blue pole with a button that pages the police when you are in trouble and they will be their in less than a minute. Also, campus police is able to patrol a mile outside of campus so if you are ever in trouble and call 911, they will be there. I have been here for four years and never once came across a problem.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Cal State Fullerton has so far been a rewarding experience. I have yet to endure a difficult or unsuitable professor. Socially, it can be difficult to meet new people since it's a commuter school but everyone is really nice, so that helps!
Tips for prospective students Remember that CSUF was rated one of the toughest grade-givers in the United States. You'll know you're getting the GPA you deserve, which I find really encouraging. I know my work will always, if not usually, be awarded the grade it deserves. Don't come for an easy A, come for a good education.
Academic Rigor Some classes seem like they'll be easy, but turn out to be difficult, and vice-versa. It's easy at any school to be distracted and lose focus, but if you keep working hard and manage your time well it won't be too hard.
Food and Dining There are lots of great places to eat on and around campus. The downtown Fullerton and Brea areas are filled with cool places. There are lots of healthy places on or near campus, too.
What to do for fun Eat! And of course shop at the mall, go bowling in the TSU, head out to the beach or Disneyland. Everything is really close.

Tips for prospective students Live on campus, commuting is hard and you'll get more out of the college life if you live on campus.
What to do for fun Greek life is amazing and not what you see on tv its real sisterhood and brotherhood, over all amazing people on campus.
Greek Life Greek life is amazing and if you have the chance and can afford to go greek.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences CSUF is a nice, open campus situated in Fullerton. It is close to the freeway and to restaurants downtown. When not studying, there are many opportunities to get involved and hang out with friends.
Tips for prospective students Incoming freshman should apply for Freshman Programs, which includes a one semester class helps transition from high school to college life. The teachers and mentors also give you tips and answer any questions you may have. Also, apply for the honors program or finish in 4. Both programs give you priority registration for classes each semester.
Academic Rigor Depending on your major, classes are generally manageable. However, your grade depends on how much work you put in.
Food and Dining The TSU has a great variety of food. However, there are food places around campus and off campus that are easily accessible.
What to do for fun CSUF has a plethora of events going on-whether through societies or colleges, there is always something happening. You can bowl underground or check out the graphic design office. You can get involved and volunteer with ASI or honor societies. There are also sporting events and plays/musicals to attend with friends.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus When one of the art professors discovered that a broken statue of David was going to be thrown out after an earthquake he made sure that we got a hold of it. On the ECS lawn you will find pieces of David displayed just as it fell to remind us of nature's power. Tradition says that those who wish for a good grade on a test can rub his butt cheek for luck.
Clubs and Activities There are over 50 clubs on campus that are perfect for anyone who wants to get involved and meet new people.
Campus Safety We have an on-campus police station with officers. Also, there are large blue poles set up for emergencies. They are also used for those that just want to be escorted to their car at night.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I am fully convinced that if you have the opportunity to attend CSUF, you will have the opportunity to take on the challenge of a rigorous academic standard. The dining has so many options that one could eat at a different place for two or three weeks. The school encourages students to take down time from studying and enjoy life; they provide some entertainment but also encourage students to see a play or walk through a museum form time to time.
Tips for prospective students The standards overall are high because CSUF has a reputation of graduating students who are high achievers. In order to do your best, find a group on campus that can give you the academic and emotional support. There are so many to choose from. The Multicultural Center is a great one. It is a safe haven for every nationality and gender on campus.
Another great thing to do is to create or join a study group from your discipline. Taking classes as a group will provide you with extra notes, a study group, exam help, and even some friends to hang out with when you are blessed with free time.
Ask questions, and go to the writing center to have your papers edited. It really helps when you are tired and sleepy from study. A fresh look at your work will catch errors that you, under the circumstances, might not.Academic Rigor Academic rigor can be intense. It is important to keep up with the syllabus and read ahead if possible. An example of the academic rigor for me is this, I have an interdisciplinary paper to write, a 10-20 page essay on the interpretation of art, an observation to do with children doing art, two exams, and a lesson plan while on Spring break. This is not uncommon at university level. Stay caught up, do the readings, and review every day. You will be fine.
Dorm Life I actually live at home. I am married with a family. I was so busy having and raising children, I never had the time to attend college when I was younger. I have seen the dorms and they are very nice. I also know from class mates who live in the dorms that the majority of the students are really here to learn and prepare for their future. Of course if you look in the right places, you can always find a party.
Food and Dining The dining area is actually too small for the number of students and faculty at the campus. Lines are usually long when I walk through in the afternoon and coffee in the morning is also quite a wait. There are restaurant food trucks that have set locations in the afternoons. They offer a variety of food not found in the food court. Carl's Jr. is the only fast food company on campus. They offer a nice outdoor patio area that is wifi accessible for their patrons. There is one building that offers a coffee shop that also serves as a deli. Their sandwiches and soup are amazing. If you have enough time between classes, there are several eateries in walking distance of the off campus dorms. Panera Bread is my favorite.
What to do for fun CSUF has a state of the art gym. Membership is included in your student fees. Yes, included with your fees. It is two story and has a heated pool. The most popular exercise machines and weights await you. Under the food court is a bowling alley and billiards room which sells pizza and beer. It is a very popular spot. Some people actually go there and attempt to study.
The campus offers some amazing plays and hosts artistic viewings on a regular basis. They even offer a great discount on tickets to an Angel game.Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus In between the Humanities building and University Hall is a quaint little place called the Java Hut. It is a privately owned coffee hut with the most amazing fresh coffee on campus. If you bring your own cup, the owner will let you have a refill for only 75 cents. They also offer peanut butter cookies with a Reese's Piece in the center. You have to try it for yourself.
Great for these types of students There is such an assortment of students here that anyone can come here and find a place. You have to be a self motivated type to succeed and not be afraid to ask for help.
Campus Safety Safety is a huge issue here. There is 24/7 police presence, emergency poles that if you press the emergency button, a board tells campus police exactly where you are and they rush to your aid. The police also respond if you have a health emergency. The campus feels very safe but they do have signs posted warning that some people will steal your things if you leave them unattended so don't. I have never had an issue with safety but I also follow safety procedures such as never walking to my car alone at night. You can also call for an escort when ever you feel uncomfortable.

Student here are well rounded.Tips for prospective students Have ambition for your career.
This school is a great stepping stone towards a Graduate school.
Keep in touch with your teachers if you need help with the class assignments.Academic Rigor The teachers expect you to be responsible for your assignments.
Your effort shows in the work you turn in.
The work you do here helps you prepare for your career.Dorm Life I do not live on campus, but there are dorms available.
Food and Dining I wish there was a McDonald's or a Subway on campus. But other than that, the food and dinning is good. They have a good variety for students.
What to do for fun The college provides various events on campus. You have a bowling alley in the TSU. Bands are able to perform on campus.
Bang for the buck Tuition was raised to 3k per semester. I do not see why we need to pay more when there are less teachers and more students crammed in the classes. They should budget wages of the staff members to compensate for the deficits of the school. This way more student would be able to afford going to school here.
Greek Life Greek life is week, they are not really popular. I experienced Greek Week and it was disappointing. I mainly pay attention to classes than Fraternities or Sororities.
Campus Safety I feel safe on campus. I believe they provide great service when needed, I saw the campus safety handle a situation in the TSU accordingly. They were able to give the student medical attention quick, and handle the situation.

Clubs and Activities there are so many different clubs on campus, there is even greek life on campus, not to mention many activities the school puts on for you.
Greek Life there are plenty of sororities and fraternities to pick from on campus, just find the one that fits you!
Campus Safety they are excellent at giving out their numbers at orientation in case anything pops up, which it doesn't happen. there are plenty of lights so campus is always lit. it is an excellent environment and not a scary one! hope you come to csuf!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the school is incredible with amazing facilities and professors. they have everything to help the students pass their classes and to understand the material in a very safe environment.
Tips for prospective students it's a great place to attend, and they have nearly everything for everyone.
Academic Rigor some classes are easy, others are challenging. i am still learning from the classes and enjoying them.
Dorm Life dorm life is fun. i am currently living in a dorm and it's very helpful. you are able to get to your classes easier and you can make great friends.
Food and Dining they set up a new cafeteria on the campus called the gastronome. it's incredible; it's like a buffet. i enjoy the food that they have, and if you want something, you can request it on their napkin talk. they also have a little store next to it called late night; if it's late and the gastronome is closed, you can get food here either with money or points.
What to do for fun there's the rec. center which can keep a person entertained for a while. they also have movie nights almost every thursday and they have concerts, along with karaoke and open mic down at the tsu.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there's a broken statue of david on the campus. many say that if you rub a piece of it right before a test/exam, you'll get good luck. i have yet to try it.
Great for these types of students just enjoy your time at the college, make great friends, and join in clubs and activities while working on your academics.
Clubs and Activities there are a ton of clubs on campus. there's salsa club, archery, christian club, and more. there's nearly a club for everyone.
Campus Safety i feel safe to walk around at night. cops are roaming around the school nearly every 5 minutes and they have those emergency poles if you are in danger. you can also ask a cop to walk you to your car/or a safe area if you still feel scared.

Dorm Life i have not lived in a dorm

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i am enjoying my time at csu fullerton, i would recommend those to apply who live near the campus. the professors not only do an excellent job at their job, but they are also willing to help their students in any way they can. as i got to know my way around the school i started feeling comfortable and i eventually met new people.
Tips for prospective students getting good grades is very important for any student who wants to apply to a four-year university. if your sat scores are average, you will still have a chance at being admitted!
Academic Rigor the professors do a great job and they are willing to help out in any way they can.
Food and Dining there's different variety of food and dining. there is an indoor food court, a salad area outside, express shops, and there is even a starbucks inside one of the academic halls! there is also a carls' jr.
What to do for fun the tsu is a place where students can get together with other students to study, catch up, or to just hang out! there are activities such as bowling and billiards. the tsu also gives discounts to places such as disneyland, magic mountain, and on movie tickets. there is also the student recreation center where one can go for a swim, work out, or have fun.
Bang for the buck the tuition and fees are very affordable! below 5k a year.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences cal state university fullerton is a large commuter school that features an exceptionally successful business program. the school has just about any kind of facility available to students, often free of charge, for studying, recreational activities, etc. overall csuf is a great university to attend.
Tips for prospective students register for classes early. classes, especially the lower division units necessary to advance, fill fast. while on break, check via your student portal for when your assigned registration starts so you can plan ahead and nab the classes you need.
Academic Rigor classes have a broad range in difficulty, but nearly all the professors are kind, understanding, and above all else, willing to help. occasionally the textbooks seem somewhat unrelated to the information students are evaluated upon, but most of the time the answers are in the book. studying is essential for all classes, and students should adjust their schedules accordingly so that they have the time to be prepared and well informed.
Dorm Life i have yet to experience dorm life here, and many lack the experience as well, since cal state university fullerton is well-known to being a commuter school. however, from those that have spent some dorm time on campus, i have heard that life has been pleasant and relatively easy-going. most of the comforts of home are reasonably available or within walking distance.
Food and Dining there are just under a dozen dining spots on campus, and near any fast food chain you can think of is within walking distance outside of campus. the downside is that that is as high as the quality of food gets. meals are about $5 for a small something and $13 on the high end, so prepare to shell out the cash if outside dining becomes a daily exercise.
What to do for fun campus committees plan 2-3 events on campus per month that range from singing competitions on stage to barbecues at the plaza. beyond that, there is a brand new gym on the far end of campus accompanied with various sport fields. there is also a spot near the center of campus that has an arcade, big screen televisions, and tables to shoot pool.
Bang for the buck with every passing semester tuition becomes more and more expensive. in addition, many of the things outside the classroom such as tutoring services and events like campus concerts have been cut back due to budget cuts. i rate csuf's bang for the buck as average as i am aware these types of problems will be frequent regardless of which college a student wishes to attend.
Campus Safety the university is a very safe place, and have yet to witness any serious acts of violence taken place on campus. there are calling stations for security all over campus for any time of the day.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I can say this school proved me wrong in every aspect, I love being here. The environment is relaxed, lots to do on campus during the week, in between classes check out the different events ASI has. Dorm life here is great, you meet lots of great people here, and move-in week is a lot of fun.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to keep a copy of every document sent!! If you mail something make it certified, they tend to lose a LOT of documents and by proving you sent them in it will save your LIFE! Trust me on this!
Academic Rigor It varies on the professor. Some of the professors are very supportive, which makes learning better. If you have doubts, go to office hours, it helps greatly.
Dorm Life If you choose to live in a residence hall, be sure to check your financial aid! You might think you could afford to pay but turns out you can't. Other than that, it's awesome, the people are chill here, and you inform yourself more on campus events if you dorm. Highly recommend you dorm your freshman year!
Food and Dining The dining hall, The Gastronome, is not as great as it seems. On move-in day, they have good food, after that, not so great! Bring food from home as much as possible, weekends at the Gnome are really bad. Everything else on campus is good though, they have Panda Express, Togo's, Round Table Pizza, Green Burrito, Carl's Jr, Juice it Up, Starbucks, etc.
What to do for fun Go to: Disneyland, Huntington Beach, Knotts, Brea Mall, eat out, ETC. We're in the city, so you won't be bored at all! Check out the college of the arts, they have performances at Claye's Performing Arts Center that do not disappoint.
Bang for the buck Be sure you have a job before you enter college, it will help you greatly.
Clubs and Activities Great variety of clubs, I recommend CRU, Destino, and Epic if you're Christian :D
Greek Life I don't know much about greek life, some of the girls I know in sororities love it, though.
Campus Safety They have escort stations around campus if you do not feel safe walking alone.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Most of the professors I've had at Cal State Fullerton are awesome. They are passionate about what they teach and are there to help you when you need help. Especially during office hours. Most students don't take advantage of office hours and the truth is that they truly help. I love the fact that I have learned so much about different topics and have helped me find out who I am as a person. Courses make you think critically and make you think beyond.
Am enjoying being here Cal State Fullerton has a great environment. There are alot of clubs an organizations that a student can get involved in, I though haven't found the right club for me yet. I got in involved in the Social Justice Committee but didn't feel like I was enjoying being there to the fullest even though I did like what they were trying to accomplish. I am looking to get involved in health club/ nursing club soon since I want to get into the nursing program. They have clubs that relate to any field of study which I think is also great. The weather is great if you like warm summers and winters that are not extremely cold. It is a large campus but not large enough where it takes more than fifteen minutes to get to each class.
Bang for the buck When I was a freshman yes it was bang for the buck tuition was about $1,500 pers semester and it was great, but now with budget cuts I am struggling to pay for my education. Now tuition is about $3,000 pers semester. Education should not be ridiculously expensive in any institution. Yes the professors are great and the university has alot to offer but the fact that tuiton keeps rising is an issue. It's stressful for those that don't get financial aid. Compared to other cal states though it is one of the least expensive.
Tips for prospective students If you are aiming to attend Cal State Fullerton and know you won't be getting financial help then start saving now. Tuition is most likely going to keep rising. At the same time don't let it hold you back from wanting to attend. There are also scholarship one can apply for. Another tip is that when being college, more time is necessary for studying. That means sacrificing more of your free time to study. Less going out and less fun. It's worth it though when you see the grades you get at the end of the semester. Come in with a responsible mentality and start networking. Get involved and meet new people.
Great for these types of students Cal State Fullerton is great for all kinds of students. It is very well known for their business department and it is great for students who like being involved in student government. There are all kinds of things to do at Cal State Fullerton it is just up to the student to get up and find something they enjoy doing on campus. No matter what major you are or if you are undecided there are programs for those that already know what major they want to be and to those that are undecided there is a program that will help you discover what you like. The career center helps out with that.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I'm currently a first year taking GEs. I took most of these classes in high school so I didn't really learn a whole lot of new information; they were basically the same courses with a few new things incorporated into it. First-time freshmen get priority registration for their first semester so getting classes that you want/need wasn't too difficult.
Am enjoying being here CSUF is definitely a major commuter campus. The new dorms only house freshmen and the apartments hold a mixture of freshmen-seniors. There is only room for a little over 2,000 students to live on campus, so it's hard to make friends and find out about social events to attend because students mainly attend class and go straight home afterwards. I'm definitely not getting the college experience because I'm not living on campus.
Bang for the buck I can't complain about a whole lot. Parking permits are $220 a semester, and trying to find a parking spot anywhere between 8:30-12:45 is a nightmare, good luck! I did get most of the classes that I wanted for the spring semester, except they are all at undesirable times. I can't wait to get priority registration; getting all of my classes will be a breeze! :)
Tips for prospective students Get to school about an hour early; this gives you a sufficient amount of time to find a parking spot (if you can't find any, park in the G lot--it's far away but you will most likely find a spot if you're desperate for one). Meet and talk to as many people in your classes as possible; this is a good idea, especially if you need to miss class one day, you can ask for any assignments that you missed.
Great for these types of students Overall it's a commuter campus, so it's best for students that like to keep to themselves and aren't looking for a fun, enjoyable, typical college experience.

Am enjoying being here At Cal State Fullerton because is one of the best schools of all the cal states. I met new people in this school, and experienced new obstacles. Also professors and other staff members are there to help you on anything.
Bang for the buck This school is really cheap but because of the Budgets cuts the school is getting priced but is an opportunity to enroll in this school.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This college has so many courses to offer. I'm the artsy type so for me have options where I can complete my GE requirements with art, music, and dance classes is a big plus.
Am enjoying being here I don't think there has been a teacher that I've been completely against and most of the students here are really great and easy to talk to.
Bang for the buck With all the extra facilities CSUF really is worth the money.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you're on top of your studies and meet deadlines on time. This isn't high school. There is no such thing as late assignments here and if you miss one there isn't really any extra credit to save you. Just do all your work and you'll be fine, but otherwise you're risking your grade.
Great for these types of students If you're a hard worker and have goals, then this is the school for you. There are so many clubs, organizations, and resources available to you. Buckle up and have fun! :)

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I'm learning some. But for the most part, my classes are repeats of what I got at my junior college, and poor repeats at that.
Am enjoying being here Parts of the campus are modern. But for the most part it's ugly and rundown. They have a rec center with a gym that looks modern and up to date but most of the equipment is broken. The classrooms are old and cramped. Everything seems to have a fine layer of grime over it.
Bang for the buck Tuition keeps rising while the quality of the education declines.
Tips for prospective students Check out all of your other options first.
Great for these types of students Students who don't care about just being another student ID, don't mind regular tuition increases, and are ok not being able to get into classes because it's so impacted.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am currently a Biological Science major and I do not even know how to express how much I have learned! It is a lot of information but it is also a lot of fun. I learn a lot in all of my other classes but the work load isn't unbearable if you are good at managing your time. It can seem like it is a lot of work, but once you step back and take a breath, you will realize that it really isn't that much. You will most likely learn to teach yourself as well since you study majority of the time but it's still fun to learn.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love being here! I want to work here some day as a Biology 171 Lab TA so that I can be the one making the experience just as great for future students as it is for me. The environment is amazing because everyone is doing their own thing but at the same time everyone has fun and makes friends. The students and faculty are really nice and they truly want you to succeed in all that you do.
Bang for the buck Money is an issue with anything now a days but it is worth the education that is received here. I love all of my classes, my professors and my friends. I think that the money is definitely worth it!
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid! Relax! It is a bit overwhelming at first but once you get the hang of it, it is a blast! College is a lot of fun but you also have to be prepared. Everything depends on you as an individual, the professors aren't going to remind you about assignments or anything; they gave you the syllabus for a reason. Learn how to manage your time and start implementing self-discipline because it will save you! Homework is rare, it is mostly lecture and tests. But that comes with a price. You MUST study because if you fail the test, you are bound to fail the class since your grade is based almost entirely off of tests. But overall, it is a lot of fun! I don't dread going to school but actually love being there.
Great for these types of students Anyone who is an individual will be just fine. You must know yourself, know what you can handle, and take it head on. However, within the first semester, you will learn to become an individual because that is just how it is. It isn't a bad thing because it is an essential part of life to be able to do things on your own, it's a part of growing up. CSUF is great for any student!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot When I started to attend California State University Fullerton, I did not realize that I would learn so much about myself and my capabilities. It is my third year now, and I have not only learned new material academically, but also how to be independent, manage money, communication, and social skills. I became more confident with my identity and I clearly see who I want to be in the future. My classes are interesting, and because I am active in my classes, I gain a lot more then just knowledge. I strengthened my studying skills, and time management.
Am enjoying being here I have been living in the dormitories on campus since my first year of college. I greatly enjoy attending and living at CSUF. I was able to make friends right away because CSUF hosts many programs and activities in order to give students the chance to meet one another and make new friends. The environment is very beautiful, with landscape and even an arboretum on campus. There is always a nice place to study and relax, rather it is the library, cafe, classroom, dorm room, or even the arboretum. Depending on ones personal preference, CSUF accommodates. CSUF has many different resources for students, in order to keep students on track and confident. They even have free counseling sessions in order to allow students to express their concerns. Attending CSUF has built my confidence and motivation. I am always looking forward to the new school year, and can not wait to begin my new classes.
Bang for the buck California State University initially started out much cheaper, however with the budget cuts, the tuition has been gradually rising. CSUF is getting expensive as the years go by. The dorms have also greatly increased. However, CSUF tries their best to try to keep their costs as cheap as possible. Even though it is getting pricey, if students take advantage of the free resources provided for them, then students can make the money worth it. It is great because there is a health center on campus, and students can get check ups, pap smears, x-rays, chiropractor, etc. for practically free. Antibiotics usually do not run more then five dollars. The health center has all the same resources as a clinic. It is very helpful to keep each student healthy.
Tips for prospective students Carefully choose your classes, and make sure you look in to it. Try not to take classes that you will not enjoy, because then it will be hard to focus in class. Also, look into clubs and organizations. There are hundreds of different types of clubs and organizations available for students. Getting involved makes college more enjoyable and unforgettable. CSUF makes is very easy to stay on track and prepared each year. Always make sure to do your research and take advantage of all the great sources this campus provides.
Great for these types of students If you love to study and have personal preferences of the setting you would like to study in, this is the best campus to attend to. They provide many different settings for students, so that students can find the perfect spot for studying. They also provide hundreds of computers, enough for every student, so that they can do their research or just go on facebook. This school is also great for students that are trying to be more involved and make more friends. CSUF makes it very easy to join clubs and get involved. There are hundreds of chances to make a difference and meet new people along the way.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I thought coming in to college, I would be prepared for all my classes but I thought wrong. Teachers here taught me more in a semester than what my high school teachers taught me in a year. The professors here take the time to make sure you understand the concept & help you out with anything you need.
Am enjoying being here This campus is so fun to be at. There's never a day where the campus is quite and boring because there's always music playing or clubs trying to recruit you. Besides having a lot of clubs to join, they have classes that are super fun. For example, I took Tai Chi and Volleyball and these classes were very interesting. There was never a day that I would want to miss the class.
Bang for the buck Compared to other cal states, CSUF is the cheapest. They offer a lot of scholarships and the financial aid office takes good care of the ones that need it.
Tips for prospective students LEARN how to study because you're going to need it when you get into college.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am studying electrical engineering at this school. The EE department may be small but it is made up of some pretty top-notch professors with extensive knowledge of their subjects. All the EE faculty have Ph.Ds in their field and their areas of specialty range from GPS to fiber optics to solar power to antennas. Also, they are all very nice people for the most part (just don't be late for class and don't slack).
Am enjoying being here It is true that CSUF is a commuter school. There is good and bad about this. On the one hand, you have to reach out to fellow students to make friends, join clubs or be involved in campus activities. On the other hand, the diversity of CSUF's student body means you can get to know people from many different backgrounds and many different places of origin. Also, CSUF has a very active club which studies Historical European Martial Arts and finding this club has already made my entire experience at this school worth it so far.
Bang for the buck CSUF is one of the more affordable schools in the public university system. The EE department is ABET accredited and for roughly $3000 a semester (full time) you can complete your degree in a timely fashion. Of course, I transferred in from a community college so I ended up saving even more money.
Tips for prospective students Parking is nigh on impossible to find close to buildings between 9 AM and 3 PM. If you want a good parking spot, either show up before 9 AM or after 3 PM. However, you can always find parking on the outskirts of the campus by the football stadium and baseball field. CSUF is home to a lot of great activities but you need to be proactive in looking for them. Read the school paper and keep up on whats going on.
Great for these types of students Like I said, its a commuter school so its designed for students who have to commute. This school is very relaxed compared to many other universities and most everyone I've met are very nice and very friendly. I'm going to be staying at this school until I have my Master's degree.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning more from my actual major courses than I am from my GE courses, but overall my GE courses have been challenging and the teachers have been willing to help me do more than just pass.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love it here! The students and teachers inside my major, and even some outside, are awesome. Most of the people I've met are kind, and willing to help you, or work with you. I have made some pretty amazing friends, and met some pretty inspiring teachers.
The campus isn't the prettiest campus ever, but its not too bad. The resources available on campus are pretty great, especially the Pollak Library (one of my favorite places on campus!).Bang for the buck Cal State Fullerton is very cheap compared to other schools both in and out of California. There are some pretty well known academic programs on campus, especially the Business and Economics, and Theater and Dance schools. So depending on the program you choose, you're getting a very good deal. HOWEVER, if you live on campus, its a different story. I live on campus and I pay between $7000 and $8000 dollars a year (not including tuition). Plus, that's the cheapest possible housing plan. It can be up to $11,000 if you choose to live in the singles suites, or the newest dorm rooms. On the plus side, they just added a food court and a food plan, so we don't have to fend for ourselves anymore.
Tips for prospective students Get your financial aid information ASAP and make sure ALL documents are processed by the school on time. If not, CALL and make sure they get it done. I had this problem the summer before my freshman year. If you're ever worried that something won't get in/done on time, call the school or respective office.
Great for these types of students Business, Economics, Education (teaching), Acting, Music, Musical Theater, Dance, Kinesiology, Nursing, Engineering, ROTC, Communications (journalism, broadcasting, film).

Bang for the buck This school is not in my budget but I am trying and hope

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot One of the greatest aspects of the California State University system is their determination and drive to allow you, as the student, to broaden your educational horizons as much as possible. They wish for every student to succeed in their own terms, as well as experiencing everything outside of their own worlds. The General Education system grants students the opportunity to learn new things in very diverse educational topics, depending on what the student desires to dive into. As a first year student, this really encourages the learner to delve into new experiences and eventually narrow down what they wish to do in life. Overall, California State University, Fullerton excels at exactly what it is supposed to: student learning, progress, and success.
Am enjoying being here The campus is located in beautiful, sunny Southern California. Growing up only an hour away, a good portion of my life was already located down here, so it was not hard for this to be in the running for my top college choice. The campus is spacious and amazing, historic and futuristic at the same time. Living on campus, I am allowed the opportunity to experience of campus exploration that some students never get to have. As well, it is right in the center of this college-oriented town.
Bang for the buck Compared to the stress of getting courses in the community colleges around me, this school guaranteed that I would get the classes that I signed up for (and that all of my money is going to!), successfully too. I managed to get every course that I desired, in minimal time. So when it comes to getting classes and graduating on time, the Cal State system is the dream.
Tips for prospective students Think hard about what you want in a school, and definitely take a campus tour before you make your decision. Try to make a first hand experience, because after that tour, you will know what school feels right or wrong, and picture yourself walking through campus.
Great for these types of students A good majority of the student percentage here commutes to school; so if you looking to stay at home for a few years or if you live close by, this is definitely a school to look into.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Becoming an active participant in your education is critical here. I have been fortunate to have had mostly great teachers my first year and a half here, and so their passion and dedication to the subject matter is inspiring and helpful. Even so, asking questions in class, taking advantage of the different resources the teacher provides students (including office hours, blackboard, etc), and participating in projects and discussions will make your educational experience that much better (and probably your grade, as well). So far, I have learned a lot, and most of my teachers have been great in the way that they are not just going through the motions, they have actually wanted their pupils to gain valuable knowledge.
Am enjoying being here I have enjoyed the atmosphere at CSUF so far. Because most of the students on campus commute, it does not provide ample opportunity to get to know a lot of people. Getting actively involved in clubs and campus life is necessary in order to gain that kind of experience here. Since I am more on the shy side, it has been difficult for me to get involved and meet new people, so I kind of just go for class and then leave, but for someone who is more outgoing, I assume it would be easier.
Bang for the buck CSUF is reasonably priced, but tuition has been raised over the past couple years. The only problem I have with that is they don't tell you until after you've registered, so it was kind of a surprise when I went to pay. That being said, when compared to other schools, Fullerton is reasonable.
Tips for prospective students I definitely think that being a proactive student is essential to gain the best education here. The teachers are willing to help, but you have to ask. I have found that I've done better here when I go and see teachers during their office hours, since class sizes are sometimes large and opportunity to ask questions may be limited. It is mostly a commuter school, so getting involved in the campus culture might be a bit more difficult, but is still possible. Also, take advantage of some of the great resources provided on campus. We're paying for them, so might as well use them!
Great for these types of students I think just about any student could find success here, as long as they are willing to put in the effort.
