    Am learning a lot

I am in the Schools Honor program and am learning so much from all of my honors and non honors classes. most of my teachers have been very helpful and they all know what they are talking about and are enthusiastic about it. I am also learning a lot about life outside of the classroom here. Central provides a great environment for getting used to living away from home. The RA's and RD's are very helpful if you have room problems or if you just are looking for suggestions about school or activities you should attend I am learning how to manage my time with a lot of the programs so I have time to do my homework have some fun and even have a job if i want.

    Am enjoying being here

I really like being at school people here are very friendly and it is like living in a nice little community where everyone helps each other. We also have a lot of programs going on everyday and a weekly program on Thursday's called devils den at ten pm it is a fun program to go to and encourages kids to have clean fun instead of going off campus to drink and do other unsafe things. There are also great dorms here where everyone becomes friends with everyone else! The one downfall is that we don't have much to do here on weekends.

    Bang for the buck

You get really great classes at central for what you pay and compared to other colleges in Connecticut central doesn't cost very much our bookstore however is rather expensive i would suggest shopping else where and the food is OK but it gets boring after a while as I'm sure it probably does at all colleges but as far as the education part (which is probably the most important ) you will be getting a wonderful learning experience for a reasonable amount of money for college.

    Tips for prospective students

I would suggest that if you go to this school buy your books online i bought mine at half.com and the cost so much less than they would have at the bookstore because being a college student we try and save as much money as we can because college is expensive. Also I would suggest that If you are a girl stay in the all girls dorm. I know that it may not sound to exciting but we have bigger dorms and it is quite a bit quieter here than in the other dorms. Finally i would suggest applying to the honors program because it has a great scholarship and you get to take some pretty cool classes because of it. Also if you dont like Central are other schools that go along with it like eastern and Western Connecticut State University that you could look into

Great for these types of students

Central would be great for hard working students who also like to have fun and make friends. It is a perfect size campus for feeling comfortable around everyone and getting to know a lot of people its small enough to walk across and is very pretty so if you like walking it is a good campus because we have a park rite off of campus. It is also a great campus for students who want to be teacher because it has the reputation of being one of the best teaching colleges in Connecticut.

    Am learning a lot

Central has a strong education department. I have not a had a bad teacher so far in my three semesters here. The only weaker department would be the math, from my experience. As for if I am learning a lot, I would say yes I am! But that has mostly to do with what I put into studying and learning information on my own, not so much as to what the professors are lecturing

    Am enjoying being here

I am enjoying my experience here. Central is a good size school, so there are familiar faces, but you also are able to meet new people constantly. The only down side would be the number of commuters. CCSU is a big commuter school, so the weekends are dead on campus.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely worth the money, especially if it's in-state tuition

    Tips for prospective students

Know full well beforehand that the weekends are dead on the weekends, so if you are looking for a party school, Central is not for you. I would suggest joining a club or team to get to know people on campus. I, personally, do not mind the commuters because I am friends with a lot of the athletes who always stay the weekends.

Great for these types of students

CCSU is great for people who want to work on the weekends and make money.

    Am learning a lot

Central is, in my opinion, one of the best schools in the state. I have learned so much from all of the wonderful teachers. Majoring in elementary education studying biology, I have begun to take classes pertaining to my specific major. In the spring 2011 semester, I took a child psychology class learning how young minds develop and how his/her environment is crucial to cognitive development. Overall, I have learned a lot in each of my classes and I feel like I am extremely challenged.

    Am enjoying being here

As part of the full college experience, I live on campus in the dorms. I have met so many great friends and the housing staff is extremely welcoming. The dorms are clean and the police officers keep everyone safe and protected.

    Bang for the buck

Since CCSU is a state school, the price is very low compared to the expensive private schools most high school students strive for. Last year around March 2010, I was planning on going to a private school. After getting the financial report of $35,000 a year including all of the financial aid I received, I decided that going to a state school would be much more affordable. Looking back on my first year of college, I am no where near in debt because my scholarships went a long way. Not only is the school inexpensive, the bookstore runs a program where you can rent books for half of what the price would be. It only cost me about $250 last semester for books for 6 classes.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you chose a school that you can afford. You do not want to be paying for college ten years after you graduate. Central is just as good as any private school, except thousands of dollars cheaper.

Great for these types of students

Central is a great school for education majors. It is one of the top teaching schools on the East coast. For other majors, there is a variety of majors to chose from and they recently added a nursing program for students aspiring to become an R.N.

    Am learning a lot

I definitely learn a bunch at CCSU. Most of the things I'm learning in my Gen Eds I can remember from high school but I learn a lot of useful and valuable things in my major classes such as marketing, accounting, statistics, etc. It is challenging just enough and it is easy to go to most of the professors for help if needed. :)

    Am enjoying being here

All in all, I enjoy the times that I have on campus at CCSU. Not that the school itself is so exciting, but the people are nice and fun to be around. During the week, the clubs on campus try to do things on campus but I feel that they are not too appealing. The weekends are the worst on campus because there is absolutely nothing to do unless it's the beginning or end of the semester, and major school events and holidays. All in all,

    Bang for the buck

I'm not sure if CCSU has the bang for the buck because it seems to me that they use money to put new TV's & other unnecessary things in the cafe & they barely work; either that, or they're just never on. Also, they claim to use some of our tuition money for the activities in the residence halls but the activities are not at all appealing so people never go to them unless they're giving out free stuff..when I say stuff, I mean food. The food in the cafe is pretty much the same everyday which is not too bad but who wants to eat pasta and cold cuts everyday? On the bright side, many other things are free such as use of the gym and other classes the gyms offer. Sometimes, they have good shows that people actually attend and they'll sometimes have good food come to us in the cafe. They have different resources that help you improve your math and writing skills. They also provide free tutoring and you can even get a learning coach!

    Tips for prospective students

It is definitely easy to slack off and get sidetracked at CCSU especially when the weather is nice and everyone likes to lay out in the sun in bikinis and throw footballs and frisbees' around. Future students should try their best to stay focused. Besides that, it is also important to get involved in school activities and get to know people because as awesome as it is, it is also easy to be alone a lot and ultimately hate it there. (Especially when you don't live on campus.)

Great for these types of students

CCSU is great for students who want to attend a decent sized school. It is the perfect distance away from home because it is right in the middle of connecticut- not too close (to parents ;) ) and not to far either :) It offers most majors and all in all, it is just a friendly, typical college environment.

    Am learning a lot

The classes are pretty easy, it's easy to slack off, i'm finding the only challenging part is to keep up on readings.

    Am enjoying being here

Really boring most of the time. Majority of people are really nice and helpful, but mostly a commuter school, therefore weekends are really boring and it's hard to make a big group of friends. Mostly just a party school, definately don't recommend it for someone like myself who is serious about things other than social aspects.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely worth the money, (assuming its instate) even out of state isn't bad but if you're not really looking for a big challenge and just want some education, it's very worth the money.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't get used to coming home every weekend, or else you will never stay here longer than needed.

I have been very happy at Central. The classes are relatively small and without exception my professors have been accessible and willing to work with me whenever I have had questions or concerns.

    Tips for prospective students

Just think positive. Keep your goal in front of you. Try your best not to waste time. Whatever you are doing, make it worth it.

    Academic Rigor

Naturally, what you get out of it depends on what you put into it. Compared to other public colleges in Connecticut, Central has a high reputation for academics.

    Dorm Life

I can't say since I always lived off campus.

It's better than okay, and there are choices. Over the last couple of years the quality has definitely improved.

    What to do for fun

Hang out with your friends; special events on campus; sports events.

    Bang for the buck

Especially in certain programs like education, engineering and the sciences Central is very cost effective. Virtually all graduates of these programs will find jobs in their field within six months from graduation.

Great for these types of students

The Campus is amazing and the people there are even better. It offers a very calm atmosphere giving the students the courage to face any day-to-day academic challenges. The many clubs will help keep you involve and you'll get to meet a great deal of new people!

    Tips for prospective students

In order to actually have a great college experience, you have to get involve and meet new people. Not only will this help you make new friends, but it's also a nice way of networking. Have to focus on your academics because nothing will come of nothing. The good thing about CCSU is that they're always coming up with new events and new ways of getting the student body together for a fun calming day.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging, yes, but in the end when you get that final grade and you see how well you're hard work and effort has paid off, you won't even complain at all about how hard that class was. It has been said that nothing in life is easy, and whoever said it, they're right. If you do your studying, work hard and do what you're supposed to do, there's nothing to be worry about. And even if things may seem to be getting hard, CCSU has a tutoring center where help is also available for anyone.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life can be quite challenging in the aspect that you're away from your parents and can go anywhere without their permission. The dorms at CCSU are pretty nice and comfortable. Living on campus is pretty fun because the event staff always has something plan for the students, giving them a way to relief the stress of exams and deadlines.

    Food and Dining

The food at CCSU is pretty amazing. The one thing I look forward to everyday, something that many of my fellow classmates would agree on. The breakfast if to die for, no joke! And their lunch, just thinking about it makes me hungry. CCSU has many food places, great variety.

    What to do for fun

There a many things to do for fun at CCSU! From joining a club down to joining a cause, you'll without a doubt find something to do on campus. There's a place for astronomy, the sororities, the parties. Like I said before, there are lots of things to do at CCSU for fun, you just have to go out and find it!

    Campus Safety

I love the fact that I can walk around CCSU's campus at any time of day and feel safe. CCSu takes great pride and a great deal of time in making sure its campus and students are kept out of harms ways. If anything at all were to happen, there are panic stations all around campus where students can run to, press the button and wait for help to arrive.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved in campus activities. If you don't like whats going on try and do something to spark change.

    What to do for fun

One of the best malls in CT is very close. There is a great park within walking distance of the school and lots of bars and restaurants near by. Downtown Hartford is about a 15 min drive and Blue Back Square in West Hartford is about a 5 min drive from here.

This school is definitely among the cheapest choices for schools, especially if you are in-state. I'm not sure what the prices are for out of state students, but i know one of the reasons i chose CCSU is because of the price. Not many people can afford a large amount of money for college, and this college has everything that any other college can offer. It's definitely the best state school in CT.

I am also learning how to become an adult, by taking care of what I need to do in order to become a successful student. Professors are not going to bend your arm in order for you to pass classes. Its the students' responsibility to go to the teacher if he/she needs help in the class and the professors are more than glad to help you.
