Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Very small classes compared to a university and easy to connect with your professor.
Am enjoying being here Classes are enjoyable, the campus is nice and organized, and people are friendly.
Bang for the buck I definitely think that for just your core classes like English and math, start at a community college; the information is the same for much cheaper.
Tips for prospective students Try to be involved as much as you can, it is easy to drift off from your studies and fall behind.
Great for these types of students Chandler-Gilbert Community College is great for students who need the extra attention and very flexible hours.

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Do not miss class, be attentive while in class, constantly check the school website for homework, complete all homework assignments. Set aside time each day to complete homework and studying and to prepare for the next day at school.
Great for these types of students Chandler-Gilbert is great for students who cannot afford a university, enjoy smaller class sizes, and students who value a relaxed learning environment. Chandler-Gilbert also supplies students with free access to the library and all their resources, which is great!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences No teacher will take your education seriously, you will end up teaching yourself everything from the book. Financial aid is impossible to receive and getting the right supplies like books will be over charged and out dated. Teachers and staff are extremely rude and are known for harassing their students.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to teach yourself everything and get no aid to pay for your classes or your over charged books.
Academic Rigor No teacher will take your education seriously, you will end up teaching yourself everything from the book. They offer no help or tutoring if you are stuggling.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at this college.
Food and Dining The food is alright but it over charged and cost a lot more then it should. It would be cheaper to bring your own lunch.
What to do for fun Nothing.
Bang for the buck It is not worth the thousands of dollars they are charging students to take classes and buy books. Their classes are also non-transferable to other colleges and force you to take classes that you don't need to graduate.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus In the middle of no where with no dorms or places to eat.
Great for these types of students None.
Clubs and Activities None

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences rather than sit in a lecture hall with 500 students, unable to get your questions answered or voice heard, chandler gilbert gives students an opportunity to get a hands on education with personal attention. chandler gilbert has teachers that are enthusiastic about their work and motivate students to persue to their own interest. the atmosphere is friendly, safe, and suitable for any type of individual.
Tips for prospective students take cources that interest you as an individual. there is nothing worse than sitting in a class that you aren't engaged in. find classes that suit you and your learning needs and that spark your intrest.
Academic Rigor the rigor is not too labor intensive, but requires actual studying and attention that needs to be payed to work in your classes. the teachers challenge students to do the best work they can.
Dorm Life none.
Food and Dining too expensive! holy guacoamole it's rediculous.
What to do for fun library is a good way to meet people that are like-minded and intrested in what you are.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences chandler-gilbert community college is a well rounded school with many different opportunities. it has a wonderful leadership and student based help program and it has a student life group that helps many different people. overall, cgcc is a school that nearly anyone could attend and create a support system for themselves.
Tips for prospective students the best thing to do at this school is get involved. student life, student leadership, clubs and organizations have so much to offer, whether it be gaining or giving support. once involved in school projects, success is a given.
Academic Rigor the teachers tend to expect students to exceed. most teachers are more than willing to help out with anything that comes up, be it family issues or work scheduling. the teachers are helpful and truly take an interest in what problems you have with learning in their class.
Dorm Life seeing as there are no dorms present on the cgcc campus, there are many alternatives to living with parents. there are many apartments that are nearby. houses are also in a controllable range for those with money issues.
Food and Dining the food at cgcc is surprisingly delicious, though it isn't cheap. however, if you can find cheap food at a college, let me know. so far i haven't had any luck!
What to do for fun there are multiple clubs on campus that host a wide variety of events, on and off campus. many clubs plan trips to different parts of the state. the student pavilion is also a hub of activity for the school, complete with music and ping pong.
Bang for the buck chandler-gilbert community college has by far given the most welcoming, warm experience i have had at any school that i have ever been to until now. the advisers and staff is caring and truly makes an effort to make sure you are getting everything you can while attending.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is a school garden where we hand make adobe bricks. the student pavilion nearly always has several different groups of people to hang out with in it.
Great for these types of students personally, i believe this school would be great for nearly anyone. i fit in like there was a place made for me before i began attending.
Clubs and Activities there are many different clubs to choose from, from phi theta kappa to black student union. there are many options and paths you can take your college career on. the clubs are fun, enjoyable and busy.
Greek Life phi theta kappa is a staple at cgcc. they maintain the club well and continue to improve their experience.
Campus Safety not once have i personally heard about an incident at cgcc. there are multiple safety cameras and very pleasant security guards watching the campus at all times.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Although I believe the work load could be more extensive I enjoy the fact that the teachers give the students the tools to learn, and let the students decide what they want to get out of the course. I personally am studying an area that's more practice on technique than quantity of what you can learn so my personal learning is a bit limited but in some of my elective classes I have learned things that have even given me a new perspective on certain aspects of life.
Am enjoying being here I do wish that, academically, the school was more challenging but the atmosphere and the programs and extra curricular activities that are offered at the school are enjoyable. There are always plenty of events that students can attend either for enjoyment or to broaden their horizons in the academic and real world.
Bang for the buck The school has been very helpful with my financial needs and they make it very easy to obtain and maintain scholarships and financial aid. I know several people at the school who are also on scholarship or financial aid and the advisers on campus do whatever they can when you first enter campus to make sure that you are able to handle the financial burden. Also, the college has several payment plans and they have equal opportunity, on campus jobs that can come in handy while looking for a little extra book money.
Tips for prospective students The biggest tip that I would give to a prospective student is sign up for classes, and get any advisement you need done early. Often the administration office gets crowded with last minute needs and classes can fill up rather fast so staying on top of deadlines and time management is extremely important.
Great for these types of students I would say that this school is great for a wide range of students. The school offers the tools needed in order to help any type of student along their way. The only thing the student really has to bring to campus is a can-do attitude and a want or need to pass the class.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My teachers have all been very helpful and seem to genuinely care about their students. Classes are small which makes learning easier for me, i feel more comfortable in a small classroom environment.
Am enjoying being here The college has a small town feel to it. Because its so small you see people you know almost everywhere you go which is nice. The campus is beautiful and clean, and I LOVE the library!
Bang for the buck I really feel like I made a good decision by going to CGCC. The classes are cheaper then at a University but the teachers are just as good.
Tips for prospective students Come and visit the campus, meet some student ambassadors, see how you like it. (Beware the cafeteria mac n cheese)
Great for these types of students Anyone who isn't sure about their major or those who don't have one yet. People who want to finish their prerequisites on a budget, or those who need an associates degree to get into a University.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have currently been enrolled for two semesters at Chandler Gilbert Community College and I am going into my third semester at this college. I can honestly say that I have walked out of every class learning new material that will help me in the future. Every class I have taken is very informative and the professors are great. Like every college sometimes it can get a little challenging but who says that a challenge makes a person smarter.
Am enjoying being here Chandler Gilbert Community college has an awesome campus. It has many places to go and have a good study period or to go and meet new friends. There are always student events that are very fun and always offer a new experience.
Bang for the buck I really think that every dollar that is spent at Chandler Gilbert is worth it. The campus is clean, friendly, and comfortable. The education offered is great and it has even been said that it is a bit better than a big universities classes because the classes are smaller and there is more time for one on one questions and help. It is also a great place to get a great college experience there is a great diversity of students and there is always fun events to attend to and meet new people.
Tips for prospective students The advice I give to students is to focus on school and don't take breaks from school. As expensive as college is these times there is always finance help whether it is through FAFSA or grants, loans, or even scholarships. Its easier to continue college right after High School and get it done! However, if you are someone who took a break and realized its time to go back focus and always give your best because your never to old to learn new things that can improve the way you live. If you have more education you will be more successful.
Great for these types of students Chandler Gilbert is a great college for any type of student. There offer great help in any area needed. There is always a learning center filled with tutors eager to help students achieve better grades. This college also offers various services that are useful for all students. Financial Aid, Flexible class schedules, a great library, and a great staff of professors that help students get their moneys worth of education.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I believe that Chandler Gilbert makes it a simple transfer from High School to college. Chandler Gilbert is a slight difference from high school to college, but it prepares you for the transfer to a university. Just one year there has changed me into a better student.
Tips for prospective students Some tips would be don't worry about what classes are hard and what aren't because they make everything a lot more simple and have a lot of tutoring available to help you out.
Academic Rigor They make everything easy to understand and won't leave you behind as long as you ask for help.
Dorm Life It is a community college, I didn't check out if they have dorms.
Food and Dining Great food very tasty and many options from healthy to greasy.
What to do for fun You meet a ton of friends in all your classes, so you exchange numbers go out shopping and have fun. You can also join clubs on the campus.
Bang for the buck Worth the money, love it there!!
Great for these types of students Great for students who need more one on one help.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Chandler Gilbert is a great start for a newly graduated high school student. I am receiving my Associates degree this May, 2 years after graduating, and I am continuing my education at ASU this fall. The classes are the perfect size to meet new people but you still get plenty of attention from the teacher.
Tips for prospective students Attend Chandler Gilbert to save some money! There are a lot of scholarships available and classes are reasonably priced so you can get your credits to either gain a degree or transfer to a 4 year university.
Academic Rigor You are challenged by your teachers, but only so you will learn and understand the material.
Dorm Life I live at home, which helps me save money. I am close to both the Williams and Pecos campus' so I have no reason to spend money on student housing. However, Williams campus does offer student housing and I have only heard good things from those living there.
Food and Dining Good choices and reasonable prices.
What to do for fun A lot of student clubs and events on campus. Many of my teachers offer extra credit if you go attend speakers or events on campus. They are always enjoyable!
Bang for the buck Yes, good scholarships are available and you can save money on classes before racking up debt at a 4 year university.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I personally enjoy spending time in the Pecos campus library. It is huge and provides the perfect atmosphere for me to study effectively. Also there are plenty of resources available to gather sources for projects or learn new material.
Great for these types of students Any student looking to transfer to a 4 year university or gain an associates degree. Also its a good school to attend to save some money and not gain a large amount of debt.
Clubs and Activities Many different clubs or organizations meet at both campus' to fit the interests of majority of the students.
Greek Life Only Greek life group I know about is the honors club Phi Theta Kappa. This club provides many scholarships opportunities to those students who will eventually transfer to a 4 year.
Campus Safety I have never felt unsafe while on campus in the 2 years I have attended. Plenty of security guards roam around campus grounds including the parking lots. Also the Campus Safety building is centrally located and students are welcome inside if they have questions, etc.

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Always sign up for classes immediately after they open. This will help you get the classes and instructors that you want. Look up the teachers online to see what other students have said about the way they teach. The first few weeks of classes make sure you get there early because parking is typically difficult for the first little bit. Look to purchase or rent your textbooks online they are typically much cheaper than the bookstore.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor depends on the class and instructor you have. I have been academically successful in my time at this school. I feel that the majority of the instructors want you to succeed and will help you any way you need it. There are tutoring labs available to assist you if you need additional help.
Dorm Life No dorms at the Pecos campus. I have heard there are dorms at the Williams' campus but have never seen them.
Food and Dining There is a small cafeteria and one coffee cart on campus. They both have lots of choices. The location of campus is very convenient because there are tons of off campus dining locations near by.
Clubs and Activities Personally I have not participated in any of the clubs that are offered. However, I do know there are numerous groups you can join and be involved with.
Greek Life None that I know of.
Campus Safety Campus Safety is very reliable. When walking around campus there is always a campus safety employee there if you were to need them. In my time at this school I was not in need of help from them.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This school was a great choice for someone not ready for a university type setting and huge class sizes. Chandler-Gilbert was affordable and allowed me to complete my associates in different ways. However, I found the advisement not helpful for properly planning my semester course load and didn't share all the knowledge you need to know.
Tips for prospective students As a incoming freshman, I suggest, plan every semester you have before starting. I would have the classes you would like to have written down and make sure to have them fulfil your requirements. I would look for classes that count as more than one designation that way you have less classes to take and spend less money.
Academic Rigor Each class varied. I thought some classes had hard homework other classes had practically none. It all depends on the teacher.
Dorm Life There were dorms at the Williams Field campus but I lived at home.
Food and Dining The coffee cart had nice options and was relatively cheap. I didn't honk the coyote cafe that great. There are plenty of vending machines around school and you can pay with card or cash.
What to do for fun There are plenty of clubs to get involved with on campus. At the student center there are lots of games you can play. Also at the performing arts center there are a variety of shows to see regularly.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Chandler Gilbert Community Is very open and considerate of everyone attending. There is a wide variety of views held by student, and teachers, expressed in full force, but is contained enough to keep the peace. Its a wonderful start for students who are looking to express and widen their views of the world.
Tips for prospective students Pay attention to the people around you. They are just as much your teachers as the professors themselves are. And weather you know it or not your teaching everyone else as well. Its a school of constant trading of knowledge, and the school grows with you as you progress.
Academic Rigor There are some difficulties in the math department, however the freedom seems to give everyone the room they need to try out new ways of learning. Currently they are putting the final touches on their hybrid classes, which seem to work for students who need the convenience of online classes, but need the consistency of weekly classes.
Dorm Life there are no dorms.
Food and Dining They have a few different places to eat, and one coffee shop. Not much of a variety and the prices are almost not worth it. If you have a car, i'd be better you go down the street to the plaza were there are a few choices of fast food.
What to do for fun There are A LOT of clubs you can join, many of them open up the possibility of making new friends. The student center has a great feeling to it and has TVs and ping pong tables for everyone to enjoy. Depending on the clubs there will be different events on campus. There was even a volleyball challenge between clubs.
Bang for the buck I don't understand this question. If its about money then Cgcc is like any community college. Its perfect for students just starting out. Tuition isn't too bad for people who take residence in Arizona. Its centered between towns so depending on where you work and live you could have an easy drive to both.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They have a chill and grill in the student center every semester. You can see all the clubs in one building on that day while enjoying a free lunch. However that seems to be the only time you see all the clubs together in one place. I hear they are planning to fix that.
Great for these types of students Students who are planning to go to university, but are still not ready to go right away, or need to save a little more money before making the jump. Students interested in dance, art, music and athletics can learn a lot at this school without the pressure of competing in a make it or break it atmosphere. And its great for student who don't know their where they are going in life and just want to get their general learning in before they decide.
Clubs and Activities The club are plenty, and they are all active. I have seen to many school that have tried to start clubs but are soon finding themselves with only a hand full of members resulting in the club's demise. Here there are plenty of active club members and all of them have different activities. They do need to get out of the back rooms more for we hardly see any of them except for the bi annual chill and grill and a few random information tables.
Greek Life ...... non exist-ant. The students have a wide age gap from one another. the ones really wanting to party find themselves sneaking on to another campus, while the others go out to bars and dance clubs in other towns. we may be in the middle of two cities but we are still a ways away from anywhere exciting.
Campus Safety surprisingly good. the campus security have their own building and make regular patrols. not that any of it is needed, but its always nice to know your not completely alone at night.

Food and Dining don't have time to stay and eat due to my work schedule

Tips for prospective students take a campus tour, there are some things you can miss if you aren't aware of where it is on campus or if they offer it.
Academic Rigor classes are flexible and the teachers are nice and helpful. they understand that some of us work and that are schedules may jump around.
Dorm Life i'm not sure, i don't live in the dorm.
Food and Dining the food in the cafe is great and not that expensive, plus you can take your own meals and heat them up there.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have found my experience here at Chandler Gilbert to be a beneficial situation. I have learned more in the subjects I have taken and have been challenged in a much more valuable way then high school. Chandler Gilbert is a great place to start before entering a major university.
Am enjoying being here The campus is very clean, well kept, and enjoyable to be at. I commute to school about 20 miles everyday and while it is a bit of a distance, apart of why I am comfortable with the drive is the feel of the school. The school its-self is a modern feeling environment that has been well kept. The staff is pretty helpful with information you may need along the way. All around it is a very good environment.
Bang for the buck The price is ok, I am currently considered out of state so I am being charged quite a lot. For those of you who are in state this school is a great deal, and I am looking forward to being in state so I can benefit from the good pricing. With that said, the out of state tuition is absolutely ridiculous.
Tips for prospective students Ensure you schedule your classes at times that work for you! If your not a morning person, don't schedule a class at 7AM. Ensure that you speak with an advisor on classes to take so you are taking what you need to take and not wasting time on things that don't benefit your degree. Probably the most important aspect is show up to class, so many students show up to class and to me that is mind boggling, if you paying to go to school, show up!
Great for these types of students Students who are looking for a more affordable option to then transfer to a university at a later time.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot At Chandler-Gilbert, it seems to be hit or miss with the class quality. In some classes, content is based on very applicable information while others feel like a review of things learned in high school which proved just as useless then.
Am enjoying being here The campus is very active, offering many clubs and frequent events to participate in as well as a high quality tutoring center staffed by knowledgeable individuals.
Bang for the buck College is never cheap, but in spite of the ever-increasing prices this school has a lot to offer for the cost.
Tips for prospective students Socially, there are many clubs on campus to join where on can find a sense of community and make friends that will prove helpful in the college experience from an educational point as well. Financially, I have found that it's a good idea to hold out on buying books until the instructor tells you whether you even need it or not.
Great for these types of students If a smaller setting that is more oriented toward teacher-student communication is suitable for a student, Chandler-Gilbert offers great classes without overcrowding, thus keep communication an option between instructor and student.

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot One of the diamonds-in-the-rough when it comes to music programs. incredibly, it is still a growing, and certainly thriving, degree program that is under incredible directors. I was involved with the Vocal Music program for most of my time there, and began as a very basic singer. After my time, I received incredible training that allowed me to place, and rewarded, within certain competitions, as well as excel as a pianist.
Did enjoy being here I spent most of my time as a student, as I was involved with full-time ministry and two jobs as well. However, the student life is exceptional, and as the program builds, the music teachers encourage growth with one another.
Bang for the buck As stated above, this school is very well situated in its music program. I was also able to experience classes outside of this world,' and found the quality of the teachers to be beyond exceptional. The classes are small, just like most community colleges, but you find yourself better equipped with the information taught, and how to be practically able.
Tips for prospective students Any student unsure of his/her next step must certainly consider community college. For me, CGCC was a 30 mile drive to and from everyday, but worth every cent. Be steadfast and proficient in your studies, and yearn to excel. Teachers have more flexible schedules, and music majors are never without in terms of opportunities to grow!
Great for these types of students Music, Medical, Business, Communications.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers keep you interested and engaged. I didn't think I could learn anything more in my cinema class, but my professor never ceases to amaze me in his vast knowledge.
Am enjoying being here The teachers are great and they know a lot. They enjoy what they do and are genuinely interested in their subject and their students. They know you by name and always have an open ear to listen. Classes are small and there is one-on-one quality time with the professors.
Bang for the buck Quality subjects, small classes, great teachers all for a cheap price. Way better than an expensive university for the same kind of classes.
Tips for prospective students Get your general education done here, then you won't have to worry about paying off a loan for the rest of your young life. Get involved.
Great for these types of students Those who aren't sure of what college to attend or those who have no idea what they want to major in.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have attended this school for one semester and I have already learned a lot. All of the professors have taught me a lot about the subject and about what is going on in the world. The work that is assigned all has a purpose and time in class in put to good use.
Am enjoying being here There are a lot of clubs and sports teams. The campus is beautiful and there are plenty of career services and tutoring available. The library and computer lab are really nice.
Bang for the buck Community college is definitely the place to go if you are looking to save money. There are many different scholarships offered and there are some jobs available on campus.
Tips for prospective students You must study and do homework to do well in classes. Be on time and do your work. Get to know your professors and ask questions if you need help.

Bang for the buck Each unit/credit you take is only $75 dollars, but all the teachers there are extremely willing to help you pass and understand what is expected of you in the course. Not to mention the free tutoring center which should cost $75 a visit alone!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The parking at this school is wonderful. You are always near your classes. I feel that many of the teachers here are worn out on instructing. They simply are not very excited about teaching anymore nor answering questions.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to research your own questions for answers. Instructors very nice for the most part just don't seem to have their heart in it anymore. Take responsibility for yourself, as you should for any school you attend. This facility gives you very open range to learn all that you can if you put the work into it.
Academic Rigor Overall the work was great. I truly enjoyed having knowledge surrounding me and being allowed to space to experiment with my learning skills. It was a tough and humbling semester for me and I continued to grow and develop my skills. I had one instructor which was extremely confusing as she attempted to teach the students new information. I found that we joined together and were able to resolve issues by teaming up and reevaluating problems together. One instructor was very passionate about what she was teaching but it had nothing to do with the subject matter of the class. I found the class very interesting and it has opened my eyes to issues I never looked at before in History it just was not the history I had signed up for. The school is young, just has some bumps to smooth out.
Dorm Life I actually live at ASU housing. I love it. I have two teen children that reside with me and we feel extremely safe here day and night. I wish there was a little more places a 15 year old could join but other than that, this has been a wonderful experience.
Food and Dining The food has always been descent and affordable. Thank you
What to do for fun I have spent the majority of my time studying. I love to fish and spend time with my kids.
Bang for the buck I have truly valued my time at the junior college level. I am excited about continuing my education on to ASU.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I was surprised to see a condom party going on in the courtyard of MCC. I am proud that the school takes the time to care and reach to help prevent irresponsible sex. It was dealt with in good taste where I almost brought my 18 year old to attend also. Good job.
Clubs and Activities The Arts Department has been a huge enjoyment. It opens us up to network with other talents around the state and meet people that have already swam this race.
Campus Safety GREAT JOB for both ASU and CGCC
