The classes are extremely challenging but the professors are wonderful in the fact that they keep the students engaged and excited about the course and subject matter. I love my professors and everything that I am learning

    Am enjoying being here

Chapman offers something to suit each individual's interests and hobbies. The people are amazing, and one can attain just about anything they are looking for on and off campus.

    Tips for prospective students

Go into life at Chapman with excitement and be prepared to jump right into the many things it has to offer. My experience has been so successful because I had a hunger to experience and take advantage all of Chapman's many opportunities to learn and expand myself. Be ready to take it head on :)

Great for these types of students

There isn't a student who wouldn't benefit from Chapman. Specifically, however, I would say the types of students that would succeed the most at this University would be: academically motivated, social, eager, and involved

    Am learning a lot

I am learning about subjects that were unclear for me in the past, and being able to expand my knowledge on subjects that are interesting and not commonly discussed is what someone should look for in a college.

    Am enjoying being here

Home cooking will be missed, but the dining facility is unbelievable. It is unreal for a college. The dorms are spacious and comfortable.

    Bang for the buck

Paying top dollar for top education.

    Tips for prospective students

Choose a school that is an appropriate size for you. If you want a major football school, look into that. If you want a school with a large amount of people, look into that. If there are certain clubs or teams you are interested in, really see what the school has to offer. If you like smaller classrooms with a good teacher-to-student relationship, nice facilities, good relationships with peers and professors, then you will love Chapman.

Great for these types of students

Chapman is great for Film students, Law students, Business students, Actors, and anyone seeking a good future.

I've had such a great time with all my professors. They're all very personable and willing to talk to you. I lucked out with classmates as well, almost all of whom actually wanted to be in the class. I love it here.

    Am enjoying being here

Aside from academics, the people are incredibly friendly. Even though I'm an art major, I have friends in almost every section of the school. That's just how the campus is set up. It's also a relatively small school, so chances are you'll see at least three people you know on the way to and from class. A very nice and welcoming environment.

    Bang for the buck

Very VERY expensive, but also very generous with scholarships. And definitely worth it.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't let the price tag intimidate you. And if you're looking for a large-school atmosphere or a party school, you may want to rethink Chapman.

Great for these types of students

Anyone going into the arts or humanities.

I have never felt so engaged and been challenged to this amount. Classes are hard, but they make me really want to study and do well in the class. The professors are really there to help you and I have found that if you go talk to them and ask them questions, they will answer them and it really helps.

    Am enjoying being here

It is such a great environment and I have made so many friends that I know will be lifelong friends. The school is in a great location and close to so many different places... Disneyland, the beach, the mountains, the city... it's all there!

    Bang for the buck

I know that tuition and living expenses are pricey and up there, but it is so worth it. Just be sure to really make it worth your money. Study and go to class! Don't take your teacher having no attendance policy as an excuse to not go to class. If you go to class and take up every opportunity they offer, it is worth every penny.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to get to know as many students as you can during orientation week. Also important to talk to professors and get to know them, because they will respond better when you are struggling or need a letter of recommendation later down the road.

Great for these types of students

I see so many different people on campus, that I don't know if there is a big stereotype. I was afraid that being in Orange County, it was going to be full of a bunch of uber-rich Southern California kids, but it really isn't. It's just a great place to meet a bunch of different students.

You will learn as much as the effort you put into your classes.

    Am enjoying being here

It's an amazing campus and only 20 minutes from Newport Beach!

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved! A.S plans tons of events for the students, and the sports games are fun if you show your spirit. And while most students complain about dorms, Chapman's dorms are nice, and the dorm life experience is a must. Make an effort to meet the other people in your hall. And aside from social life, of course prepare to focus in your academics as well.

Chapman University offers me the support and small class size that all students would need to succeed in their choice to continue on in their educational goals. The professors treat us equally and are experienced in the field they instruct us in. I feel that any student that attends Chapman is in for the best time of their life. It has old school charm as well as new innovative techniques to help us grow as young adults into productive ones.

    Am enjoying being here

Small class size is a plus in this institution. The fact that they merged with another school shows a real commitment to the students and the future of their school.

    Bang for the buck

They offer Pell Grants, CalGrants and Federal Student Loans to help students prepare their financial needs.

    Tips for prospective students

Jump in with both feet. Join everything you can handle. Go to mixers, go to networking meetings and study study study. Remember College is fun, it's a new world, new experience and you should enjoy every facet of it.

Great for these types of students

Low Income, Mid Income, students who require one on one attention, students who work better in smaller environments.

If you like to learning directly from the experts is what you want then you will love Chapman. Chapman's classes are taught by world renowned professors including Nobel Prize winner Dr. Vernon L. Smith, winner of the Wolff Prize Yakir Aharonov and the famous political scientist Dr. Lori Cox Hans who taught my freshman class. Be the envy of your friends by learning from the best.

    Am enjoying being here

Chapman is a small school that offers unbelievable class sizes (the largest lecture hall holds about 100 students--average class sizes at public institutions are easily seven times that amount). Unfortunately for me, Chapman doesn't support all of my interests (however, I've been having a hard time finding a place that does!) but for most people Chapman will help you achieve your goals--academic and personal.

    Bang for the buck

Chapman's world class professors, small class sizes and state-of-the-art facilities does come with a price. However, Chapman is very generous and hands out grants to most students to cover a substantial amount of the tuition ticket. Dear reader, you are most likely one of those students and you will see a portion, if not half or more, of your tuition being covered.

    Tips for prospective students

If you have decided to become part of the amazing Chapman experience then I would like to say:
-Ask questions! Chapman is one of the few places where you are sitting close enough for a professor to see your raised hand.
-Visit your professors during office hours. All of the professors have an office time where you can meet them after class and ask for help on assignments or the material taught.
-Bring a jacket to the annual Undie Run. Rumor has it that it gets cold.

Great for these types of students

Chapman is the place for those who:
-want to be taught by recognized experts
-are inquisitive and desire professional answers
    -appreciate small class sizes
-desire to be the best they can be

    In three sentences

Chapman is a small school with lots of friendly familiar faces. Chapman has great enthusiastic professors that are very personable. Chapman is really a school that is all about you.

    Tips for prospective students

Be involved on campus rather in sports, clubs, student government, or Greek life. otherwise you might have hard time adjusting to Chapman.

    Academic Rigor

expect for every student to come to class having read the assignment and to have their well thought out opinions ready for class discussion.

    Dorm Life

Expensive but worth it. If your not from southern California, be prepared to be thrown in an episode of the OC.

    Food and Dining

The cafe is better than most schools. The Student Union has some fun options. The are a lot of restaurants with in walking distance of school.

    What to do for fun

Chapman is a small school with out Greek housing, so do not count on there being any of your typical animal house, frat boy college parties. a lot of students go to Disneyland because it is 15 minutes away from campus. There is also the beach, movies, shopping, clubs, trips to Hollywood, amusement parks. pretty much all the bonus of living in southern California.

    Bang for the buck

most students double major and almost every student has one or two minors. it is uncommon for someone to graduate from Chapman with only one major and/or no minors.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

UNDIE RUN!!, is not a school sanctioned event......but undie run happens at the end of every semester.

    Greek Life

the best Greek system I have seen. most of the Greek houses work together as a whole rather than competing against each other. if you don't want to be Greek there is to pressure to become Greek. However most students in Greek life are very respectable students.

    Campus Safety

Public safety is always around campus and dorms and they offer rides and or someone to walk to your room late at night. they respond to complaints fairly quick.

    Will learn a lot

I've talked to past and current students and they all gush about what they've learned. I've also already talked with some professors who seem incredibly passionate and excited about what they teach.

    Will enjoy being here

I have visited and am moving into the dorms in less than a month. I couldn't be more excited!

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely visit! I wasn't sure that Chapman was the place for me. I had it in my head that it was too small. The student population was about one and half times that of my high school. Chapman was toward the middle of my list of nine colleges to which I applied. When I visited though, it immediately shot to number one. The feel of the campus, as well as the friendly faces around it, was what led me to be a Panther.

    Am learning a lot

I have learned more about myself through the classes I take and discovering my beliefs and defining myself through my strengths. Although I have switched my major from Biology to Psychology, I ultimately learned that I will have more opportunities because I searched for what I really love and who I am, and what I see my future to be as.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is gorgeous! You can sit anywhere and feel peaceful. The campus isn't overcrowded and I have met some fabulous people since I have been at Chapman. There are a lot of things to do outside of the classroom and there are plenty of fun spots to do things such as Disneyland, Angels Stadium and the Honda Center.

    Bang for the buck

Chapman is costly, but hunt for scholarships (especially through Cappex!) and find as much financial aid as you can. For the cost though, you do get a quality education and experiences such as lectures with famous scholars, resources that are free, and you have a classroom ratio of 20:1. You also can get involved with so much throughout the year that will really help you succeed at Chapman such as clubs, sororities, fraternities, academic involvement, study abroad and so much more!

    Tips for prospective students

Don't worry if you don't know what your major is or if you switch. The decision will be worth it because it means you are more certain of your choice. Also, take advantage of the free resources such as the Academic Advising Center and Career Center. They are very helpful!
And if you can, stop by for a visit! The Old Towne Orange Circle is very popular for students and is only a few steps away, full of food, antique shops, and historic places to visit!
And take advantage of Study Abroad!

Great for these types of students

It is great if you love Southern California, are interested in Film, Business, Marketing/Advertising, Psychology, Performing Arts, Athletic Training and International Studies. Our Science department is steadily growing, especially in Research and medical professions. Also, if you are from out of the country, it is a great school for international students since we offer several languages and programs for study abroad.

I am a film production major student, and I have to say the film school is amazing. It has all the equipments you need to make a 'real' movie (green screen, sound stage, motion capture, editing suite...etc.)
Additionally, all the professors have experienced in professional field and worked on notable movies.
Therefore students are able to expand their knowledge in-class, and gain experience outside of class.

    Am enjoying being here

At first, I was afraid of having hard time to adapt to the school as an international student.
However, the school offers great sources that would assist students like us. The school has many cultural clubs/organizations for students to join. I met many of my good friends from the International Students Club and Asian Pacific Students Associations.
New international students, even student from within the states, will feel like they are at home even if their miles away from their real homes.

    Bang for the buck

Although the tuition is quite expensive (especially for the film students), it is worth it as you get to have numerous hands-on experience and the chance to make connections with people from the professional fields.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved with all the opportunities you get to enhance your college experience! Join clubs, participate in residence hall activities, attend special events (such as Undie Run!)...etc.
You will definitely meet new people and make some lifelong friends!

Great for these types of students

    - Looking for small class-size
    - Into film related field
    - Want to get involved (has many opportunities for students)

Chapman has a variety of classes that I would never have expected to be able to take. I am learning so much about the world around me from teachers who genuinely care about my education and me as a person. Every class I have taken at Chapman has expanded my horizon and taught me something I was not already aware of.

    Am enjoying being here

The school is in a great location and surrounded by so many things to do. Chapman is so close to the beach and not a far drive from la or the surrounding areas. Disneyland is within ten minutes, which makes it easy to hop in the car and take a trip to Disneyland for a few hours to reduce stress and have a great time with your friends. The weather is phenomenally! I would never have expected to be outside tanning in December while studying for finals. Chapman is all I could have asked for and more.

    Bang for the buck

While Chapman may seem a little expensive, the school is worth every penny. The cost of living on campus isn't cheap, but the dorms and dinning commons are great quality. The dorms may seem expensive, but at least you don't have to share a bathroom with 40 other people like at a UC!! The food in the dinning commons is such high quality, and there is constantly a variety so you never get bored. Chapman provides so many opportunities for students through jobs and internships while enrolled and after graduation. Here you don't have to worry about not getting your classes, like at a public school, and getting a degree in 4 years is practically guaranteed.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved in anything and everything. Chapman is such a great place and there are amazing people and faculty here. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and meet new people, because they will make you a better person. Embrace the opportunities provided by you by the school and don't hold back. Use the library because living in the dorms doesn't create a good environment for studying, and you are going to have to, just because its college doesn't mean it's a cake walk. Just remember to have fun!

Great for these types of students

Chapman is a great place for students looking to better themselves and the world. There are so many different places to be involved that if you desire a community, Chapman is the place to find it. A small school ensures you will know a lot of people and having a good time is easy. People here are laid back, but care about their school making for an appealing environment inside and out of the classroom!

Chapman University offers many diverse and challenging courses which will not only educate you for your future career-they will prepare you for life.
The professors are individuals who have worked in the fields that they are teaching. They have real life experience in these careers and can give you important information about them. They are dedicated to the students. If you seek them out-they are available to you. The professor student ratio is great! If you are looking for personalized attention-Chapman is for you.

Chapman is located in beautiful Southern California. The location could literally not be better. The weather is amazing-and you are conveniently located around ten minutes from Disneyland. Southern California has a lot to offer.
The environment at Chapman is very positive. The students and professors are extremely welcoming-you will meet life long friends.
There are a huge amount of clubs and organizations available-Chapman offers a well-rounded college experience.

    Bang for the buck

Though Chapman is a private college-and therefore is expensive-it is well worth it. The experience you get at this school is unlike one you would get at any other college. The programs/classes available are diverse, and Chapman is well-known for many of these programs.
    Also, they offer great scholarships!

Great for these types of students

Chapman is especially great for arts students [theatre, dance, music, film]. Their arts programs are recognized for their excellence. I am a theatre major and I love it!
Their business school is also renonwned. Great for business majors.

As of right now, I'm taking mostly G.E.s so it's mostly review, not really presenting any new learning materials as of yet, but I really enjoy the classes that I'm taking.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is beautiful and the class sizes are perfect. Personally I am never overloaded with work, but then again I'm taking relatively simple classes.

    Bang for the buck

The school puts a lot of money into looking and nice and making sure the students feel at home, they even pay workers to clean the sidewalks. More funds means greater learning technology, which in the end helps a lot.

    Tips for prospective students

For incoming freshmen, really read into the FFC you're signing up for, I extremely dislike my FFC, it's not at all what I thought it would be. Way too much Greek mythology and Shakespeare which I was over with in high school.

Great for these types of students

Everyone. Literally all kinds of people here. I'm a graphic design major and a baseball player and I feel welcome everywhere. That's the great thing about this school, it's an art school, but there's so many great majors to take in addition to football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse and Greek life.

Chapman has such a unique learning environment and I am able to really divulge myself into the education and knowledge that Chapman University provides. The classes are small enough to really enhance my learning experience because of the professor to student interaction. Chapman University provides such a personalized education because of the relationships formed between students and professors.

    Am enjoying being here

I absolutely love Chapman because not only does it provide students with a spectacular education, but it provides students with a plethora of opportunities to get involved in the community, on campus, and with other students. The student life on campus is so fun and exciting. There are always things to be doing and ways to be getting involved.

    Bang for the buck

Since Chapman is a private university, it is quite expensive, however I really feel that the amount of money each student pays in total is absolutely worth everything that Chapman offers. Students definitely see where their money is going because Chapman is great about giving back to the community and more importantly putting the money we pay into the university. We have a stunning campus that continues to grow and beautify, and we have tons of extracurricular activities and events that the University puts on for students in order to give back.

    Tips for prospective students

I would really recommend that prospective students come visit the campus and spend a good few days on campus and in the town around it. The campus and surrounding city gives off a great feel and is just an amazing environment.

Great for these types of students

I really feel like Chapman can appeal to all types of students. The Dodge Film School is ranked as one of the top film school's in all of the nation and offers a excellent selection of courses for students interested in anything film related. In addition, Chapman has a very competitive and highly ranked Business School. There is a Law School, a great Theater and Dance program, a great Athletic Training and Physical Therapy Program. Overall, Chapman has so much to offer for such a small university.

a great university with intense arts programs and professional degrees, a beautiful campus, and a fabulous social atmosphere. on top of everything that chapman has to offer, the location is ideal, right next to disneyland, the beach and many other fun and exciting pastimes.

    Tips for prospective students

be sure to show how invested you are in a college education, nowadays it seems like college is jut the popular thing to do after getting out of high school, but if you show the application reviewers that you want to be there, they will know and most likely want you here as well.

    Academic Rigor

varies by subject and by teacher. however, it is my philosophy that you get the grade you deserve. don't just take easy classes because you need the grade, challenge yourself, that is what college is for and that is how you truly can learn about things.

    Dorm Life

all in all, there is not a bad dorm to be in on campus. many will tell you that north morlan is the worst dorm, however each residence hall has its ups and its downs. north morlan allows for a great sense of community among its students and henley has a great basement to hang out in, while pralle is a prime location with parking underneath and being closest to campus, and has plenty of study space throughout the floors.

    Food and Dining

the dining commons, also known as the caf is beyond sufficient in comparisson to many other college cafeterias. my favorite part about the caf is that it offers such a wide variety of dining options from italian, japanese, sushi, chinese, european, home style, burgers, salad bar, soup bar, and our beloved dessert section located in the center of the caf.

    What to do for fun

disneyland is fifteen minutes away, the nearest beach, huntington beach is only twenty minutes away, and there are nearby hangout shopping centers and movie theaters all right around the corner. the circle which is a short walk from campus offers many cute restaurants and shopping as well as a cute cupcake place and a frozen yogurt place. there is even a country western dancing bar located 15 minutes away from campus and a lounge in the town circle for nights out.

if you want a beautiful campus, great small-town community feel just minutes away from some of the greatest los angeles area landmarks (including disneyland!), plus a strong academic community, this is the school for you. it has a fantastic variety of on-campus eateries, a four-story library, and a giant stone fountain in the middle of campus. plus, you can't beat this weather!

    Tips for prospective students

chapman is not intimidating in the least, except for maybe the arts programs, which are fantastic but rigorous. if you are an arts student, make sure you are well-prepared for your audition/interview and have double-checked your portfolio. also, interviews are not necessary but i highly recommend having one to get your foot in the door.

    Academic Rigor

the first year is just like high school, but with a more relaxed schedule. it does get harder and you will have to study, but the work is surprisingly rewarding. the professors are there to help you!

    Dorm Life

our resident advisers (ras) work so hard to keep the resident students busy! there is always something to do. however, the walls are very thin and people like to go screaming down the hallways at night. oh, and sometimes the henley lobby smells like moldy bread and yogurt, but that's incidental. the basement is awesome though. there are pool tables and a gym and music practice rooms right downstairs from your room. it's pretty neat, actually.

    Food and Dining

beware of cafeteria food! it's usually good...except on weekends and during interterm. there is a huge variety of food in the caf; every night there's something asian, italian, greek, and of course there are pizza and burgers and soup too. on-campus we have jazzman's cyber cafe, which has coffee easily comparable to starbuck's or peet's. we also have jamba juice, einstein bros. bagels, world of wings, and a little snack shop in the library for all those late-night studiers.

    What to do for fun

go to concerts and plays! play in the fountains! go to disneyland!!! there really are boundless opportunities. events around campus are sent out every week in an email newsletter, so you have no excuse to be bored.

    Bang for the buck

it's a little pricey, but the school gives out more money than the normal person can imagine for scholarships. it's well worth applying even if you think you won't be able to afford it. you'll be surprised.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

go to the beckman hall terrace, up on the third floor. it has a great view of the piazza.

Great for these types of students

arts (music, theater, dance, and especially film) students will love this place. it is also widely acclaimed for the business program.

    Clubs and Activities

there's something for everyone...really! music clubs, cooking clubs, social work clubs, even religious clubs. there's even a club that puts on rocky horror picture show every year, which i've heard is...interesting.

    Campus Safety

if you need anything, anything at all, call public safety. while not always punctual, they do keep us safe and happy.

    Am learning a lot

College is more than just textbooks and all-nighters before finals. At Chapman, I have gotten hands-on experience in some of my classes and I like the fact that my professors use real life examples to correlate what I am learning in the classroom. You also have access to resources that can help clarify questions and expand your research when you study. I have never been taught by a TA; all of the faculty members want to be with their students and they are flexible with helping you succeed with office hours and free tutoring.

    Am enjoying being here

I have met so many people from all over the country and I am getting involved on and off campus thanks to volunteer opportunities and events/clubs on campus. Not to mention, weather is pretty good out here most of the time. And there is plenty of food options thanks to being next door to the historic Orange Circle

    Bang for the buck

Chapman is costly, but for your buck, you get nice quality and often times lots of free stuff! I volunteered for our Chapman Day of Service and each student got a free jacket (worth about $90) and were exclusively sold to Chapman students who participated in the event! But be prepared when you do look at the price tag however, because it is expensive when you add up your total

    Tips for prospective students

Check out study abroad programs early! They are costly and the application process takes up to a year. Start looking at scholarships and grants and apply for FAFSA!!! Look into on-campus jobs and explore the area. Chapman is located near so many awesome spots like the beaches, Disneyland, sport arenas, and the Circle. Best investment: An annual Disneyland pass :)

Great for these types of students

Great for people who want nice weather 24/7, live near urban/suburban life, for students majoring in business, performing arts, film/digital art, psychology, education, and athletic training, for those who live in california currently, have a great interest in community service and campus involvement

Chapman is a great school. They nurture you and support you along the entire process. They take you over to the financial aid office, help you get your ID and guide you to make your college experience fantastic.

    Am enjoying being here

I love being here. It is a very calm and friendly place where you are supported constantly. The food is great and they even have Einstein's bagels.

    Bang for the buck

Even though it is very expensive to attend, it is well worth it. You receive many perks from the departments and the administration is constantly trying to make your college experience enjoyable like sponsoring concerts, dances, shuttles for the airport, supplying students with iPads, laptops, etc.

    Tips for prospective students

If I were a prospective student I would look into becoming part of a group to enhance your college experience. The dorms always sponsor group activities.

Great for these types of students

I would say all types of students would benefit, As a graduate student I meet people who I will probably work with someday, and people who I enjoy working with.

    Am learning a lot

There are tons of courses to chose from, so you are bound to find something you are interested in. I myself am a film student and Chapman makes sure that no matter what major you are production, producing, PR, etc....) you learn the basics of visual storytelling.

    Am enjoying being here

The weather is amazing for one!!!! Also the Campus is not to large, so you are able to meet all types of people. There are also tons of activities going on every week. Whatever you are interested in (community service, music, film, business, dance, etc....) there is something for you. I like how there are so many film screenings each week available to students for free! There are also a number of sororities land fraternities that are always doing something fun.

    Bang for the buck

The campus is beautiful and well maintained and people are nice. But tuition is pricey. You should make sure you can afford it.

    Tips for prospective students

I would recommend bringing a car if you can. Orange is nice but its a little difficult getting to grocery stores, malls, pharmacies and so on. Plus, if you get a Disneyland pass (which is less than 20 minutes away!!!!) a car is a convenient way of getting there. And if you are a film student, professors prefer that you use locations off campus for your short films. A car would be handy for transporting ,all of that equipment.

Great for these types of students

The film program is fantastic!!!! But there is also Dance, Music, Business, Sociology sciences and athletics. Honestly, there are so many options for a well rounded education, I couldn't cover them all.

    Did learn a lot

The classes are great! The professors are passionate about their subjects and encourage students to as well. The classes can be challenging but are doable.

    Did enjoy being here

With so many activities and clubs there is always something to do on campus. Many students have Disney passes and go to the park regularly. The students and staff are all really friendly and are always willing to help each other. The students take part in a lot of charity work. This year I know the campus has a goal of 150,000 volunteer hours and last I checked they were at 100,000!

    Bang for the buck

This is the reason I had to leave. They do not meet 100% financial need and this is an expensive school. They do offer a lot with some amazing programs but be sure you can afford it.

    Tips for prospective students

Check your financial aid package, ask about their Greek system, ask about their campus activities, and local shopping/places to go.

Yes! But since the freshman class is growing it is hard to get on-campus tutoring. Hopefully they fix it soon!

    Am enjoying being here

    I love it here!

    Bang for the buck

Although it is pricey, there is a payment plan so you can pay month to month instead of all at once.

    Tips for prospective students

Go visit the campus to see what the atmosphere is like..

Great for these types of students

    Great for everyone!
