    Am learning a lot

I see it through my french and the french cinema class I took. Everytime I watch a movie I notice things I never would have noticed before this class. And I can't wait for my Spring Semester classes.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the environment, of course there are other things I'd love to be doing like traveling, but I'm only a freshman. I know as I continue to be a part of this school I'll fall in love with many other things.

    Bang for the buck

Especially being an in state student it helps a lot. With two loans and one scholarship I'm all set. The only problem is books, just wish they were easier for my education major.

    Tips for prospective students

Look for financial aid early on so you're prepared and have a greater chance at it. Be organized through your class selections and class work. Leave everything you thought of college behind because a lot of the times it's so much more different than you expected. Don't listen to people, go out there and find what you love.

Great for these types of students

Students who actually want an education and are not just looking for a good time and a partying school. ESU is great also for students with a chill and low key personality. For a person looking for a homey feel ESU is the place to be.

    Am learning a lot

The professors take very different and interesting approaches to ensure that their students have an understanding of what they are learning. For example, in my general psychology class my professor did different fun activities to get the class involved. Although the activities were fun it also gave the students a learning experience. Every activitiy was an example of the material we were learning. As of today I remember everything I have learned in that class and I took it last year.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is small but it is very nice. The students are very friendly and theres always a daily activity to help others interact with each other and make friends. The are also numerous organizations, clubs, and sorrorities/ferternities to join that are welcoming and can also enhance your involvement with the school as well as students. The veiw of the mountians are so beautiful. The school is currently having plans of new devolopement to enhance the beauty of the campus. The classrooms are small as well which is a good thing so that the student can build a relationship with their professor rather than a big college where the amount of students in the classroom is approximately 100 or more. With a high amount of students in a classroom the chances of the professor evem remembering your name is slim to none.

    Bang for the buck

The school is affordable. East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is under a state system which means the state funds most of the school so that students do not have to go out of pocket as much as a student who goes to a private owned college.

    Tips for prospective students

East Stroudsburg is very nice school, I have been here for two years and I plan on recieving my degree from this school. I have made so many friends and I am glad I did. I would recommend going on www.esu.edu and planning a campus tour to get to see first hand how the campus is. If you decide to attend ESU you will not regret it.

Great for these types of students

    - enjoy small classroom environments
    -small campus environment
    - do not mind cold wheather
    - wants to gain a relationship with their professor

It's a nice campus. The buildings are easy to get to. Some of the professors are uncaring though.

    Tips for prospective students

There is a decent party scene here if you are in greek life. Don't get caught up in it, stick to your studies. It will make your life much easier when you get to be a upper class man.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are not very challenging. Depending on the teacher , they can be difficult work load wise, but they don't expand your thinking process.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is a great experience for freshman and maybe sophomores. Its a good way to meet people and get involved at school. Pretty safe and clean. Once you hit junior and senior year most people move off campus or to the university apartments.

    Food and Dining

The food here is gross. Down side is if you life on campus you are forced to have a meal plan.

    What to do for fun

There is not tons in the immediate area surrounding the college, but there is a movie theater, and the stroud mall. Mostly my friends and I played card games and watched movies. CAB does put on some activities during the semester.

    Bang for the buck

Buy your textbooks offline and not form the school. You can sell them back for more online and you will pay a third of what the bookstore will charge you. Buy used if you can. Typically if you can find the previous edition of the book it will be cheaper and will work for your class.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are challenging, and many teachers pride themselves on high standards. At the same time, your teachers will layout the exact way you can pass the class. The most important part of your success once you are in classes is self discipline.

    Dorm Life

Your roommates are going to be are going to be pretty cool. the actual campus is currently renovating its dorms. Laurel hall dorms are great, you are literally right next to the main classrooms, the buildings are almost touching. Some of the Dorms are not as convent and are a bit antiquated. Many of the Dorms were build't in 1976 and can get cold on the lower floors especially, but construction on three new buildings have been completed since 2011 the rooms are warm, modern and include a kitchen area.

    Food and Dining

low variety is a major complaint, there are lots of places around in the area; burritos, Thai food, pizza, Five Guys, and of course the Walmart, but none of these are included in your meal plan. The cafeteria will quickly lose its charm as a place to eat, after you have eaten the same four things for 6 months.

    What to do for fun

Lots of Chances to go to New York City on day trips funded by different clubs. Chinese Club does a lot of random trips to China Town in both Philadelphia, and New York feel free to stay with the group or explore on your own. I find this school to be a great one in an urban city, but the school premises are very friendly. It's an average sized campus with a lot to do around it and the education is great as well. Everything is easy to find and faculty and staff as well as other students are always willing to help.

    Tips for prospective students

Jump in and get involved. There is a lot to do at college and you should get as involved as possible while maintaining a scholarly equilibrium. Also, don't procrastinate; you are going to college to become something you want to do and learning as much as you can about it is the best thing to do. Stay interested and love your major.

    Academic Rigor

The academics are difficult and rigorous, but not unbearable. As long as you keep a positive thought train, things fall into place. Professors are also available very often to help students go over information from class that may not have been fully understood and offer as much as they can to help each student to succeed.

    What to do for fun

I go to the recreation center most days I am at school and workout. There are a variety of things to do there along with other services such as yoga, palates, etc. The campus also offers a lot of other things to do like concerts, plays, musicals, and more.

    Did learn a lot

I'm a very big believer that you get out of something what you put it. An education, and the school in which that takes place, is no exception. Taking varied classes, going outside the box, can certainly help you learn a lot more than you'd expect.

    Did enjoy being here

It was a friendly atmosphere as a somewhat small college campus. Students in certain programs were close, sometimes like family working together in the same computer lab.

    Bang for the buck

There are a great number of special events to attend, such as independent musicians and concerts for big name bands and comedians. Plenty of clubs to join (in fact, not enough time to join all the ones you might want to be a part of). ESU certainly has a lot of potential to get bigger and better.

    Tips for prospective students

Like I said above, you get out what you put in. Don't spend all your time on the fun stuff (ahem, partying). If an education is what you want, you'll need to work at it.

Great for these types of students

Nursing students, Physical Education majors, Sports Management, English students, etc. Theatre program is small but close knit. Media Communications is the same--could use more funding but you can still get a lot out of it.
