Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Gen. Ed. classes are all enjoyable and my major classes were taught by teachers who knew their subjects very well.
Am enjoying being here The residents halls are all nice and the college offers a lot of activities such as weekly movie nights in Buzzard Hall. However, Charleston is a small town with a limited selection of restaurants and stores. Walmart is the main store college students go to.
Bang for the buck A nice four year college for students looking to teach or still trying to figure out there major. One of if not the cheapest state schools in Illinois and an overall nice campus and community
Tips for prospective students Get involved early on, Eastern has a lot of clubs, activities and intramural sports for people to join. It really helps to get involved in something down here even it is just getting to really know the people on your floor. Since Charleston is a small town there is not much to do and Eastern is definitely a get out of it what you put into it school.
Great for these types of students Looking for a moderate sized school with a very friendly and welcoming environment. Interested in pursuing a career in teaching or still undecided. Wanting to go to a state school but not spend a ton of money for four years of college.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am currently enrolled in mostly General Education classes, and for me it wasn't hard to transfer to college classes from high school. The classes here are fun and enjoyable, I like a lot of my teachers.
Am enjoying being here Although Charleston is a small town and there's not much to do in it, Eastern makes up for that. There's a lot to do on campus that is fun and cheap. It's easy to make friends here, and it would be very helpful to make plenty of them. A lot of the time when there's nothing going on my friends and I have the greatest time hanging out, and we usually end up doing the stupidest things.
Bang for the buck In my eyes Eastern is definitely better than a lot of schools. Here we don't buy our books, we are able to rent them for around 200 bucks a year. THAT'S IT!!!! We get all of our books for 200 bucks all year, but of course we have to return them. Also there's a shuttle bus that takes us around Charleston to stores and stuff. Eastern is a lot cheaper than the schools my friends have gone to.
Tips for prospective students Be friendly! The people here are, it will be a lot easier to make friends and enjoy your time here. Join clubs and intramural sports too. It helps because after classes you have a lot of down time. DON'T PROCRASTINATE ON HOMEWORK...get it done when it is assigned. Trust me, getting your homework done early will be the greatest habit you could have.
Great for these types of students Eastern is great for students that have a fun and exciting life, but not overly exciting. Eastern is a great campus, there are cool parties to go to and many formal events to attend. There are plenty of things to do. EIU is great for students that like to party, but it's also great for students that are more laid back and reserved.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I really enjoy EIU. The classes that I'm taking are really interesting. I am currently a freshmen and have already taken 4 classes for my major. I think that is really nice to already be starting to get involved with what I actually want to do and not just taking gen eds. However, the gen eds that I am taking are really interesting, such as the evolution of jazz and rock and introduction to sociology.
Am enjoying being here I love being at Eastern. Although I do miss my family sometimes, I have a great time. While there's not a whole lot to do around the town, you can find something to do on campus. With my friends, we go bowling, watch a movie in our residence hall basement, have game nights. Plus our Resident Advisor on our floor does fun activities once a month. There's never a dull moment.
Bang for the buck I believe Eastern is a really good value. When I first visited, the tour guide said that Eastern is one of the cheapest state schools in Illinois (for in-state residents). But its still a good value. Plus renting our books instead of buying them is a huge plus. Instead of buying big bulky textbooks that could be up to $80, we rent them for about $10 a credit hour, so if you only take 15 credit hours, your books only cost you just below $150.
Tips for prospective students I would highly advise coming to visit Eastern. The school itself is large with about 10,000 undergraduates but the campus feels small and you do get to know people quickly. Very seldom to I ever walk to class and not see someone I know. Visiting campus is the best way to know what school is right for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The instructors aren't strangers to the students out here; they help A LOT. Lots of office hours. Lots of help outside of class, along with extra practice, etc.
Am enjoying being here There are so many extracurricular activities and volunteer opportunities, especially within the residence halls. The students basically run the campus with all of the leadership positions and jobs given to us.
Bang for the buck Don't have to pay for our textbooks - we can rent them for an easy $9.99/credit hour. So, for 15 hours, you pay less than $200. It's an amazing deal. Plus, tuition is pretty cheap for the quality of education you get here.
Tips for prospective students Definitely think about making EIU one of your college choices. You won't regret it. I never will.
Great for these types of students Education majors, Student Affairs majors, Business majors

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Yes...I love living on campus and my teachers are great. Just remember if you need help in a class ask for help!!!! GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!!!!!!1
Am enjoying being here Yes I was home sick the first year. However, the more you spend here the better it become. My tip is as a freshmen try not to go home every weekend only once a month if you HAVE TOO... It will be easier for you to get use to it if you do not keep going home.
Bang for the buck College is a lot of money but it is totally worth it. Get loans and pay it off you need to and it is the cheapest school in IL. I love it here you will too.
Tips for prospective students Like I said before go to office hours for you classes. If your teacher knows your name and your face you will for sure do better in the class. Also make sure you go to class and do your homework on time. But you have to make sure you leave time to have fun. Also one big thing that saved me at school is when you are signing up for your own classes take your time. You want to make sure you get all the teachers and time you want and do not stress out over it. It will all work out and make sure you use the website; ratemyprofessor.com. Most of the time your teachers will be on their and other students that took that teacher will tell you about the class and about the teacher. However, sometimes they are right on but other times they could be wrong so just stick with your gut.

Bang for the buck One of Eastern strongest point is the tuition and how it is locked in for the rest of your years there.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to put school work and grades first because then everything else will fall into place a lot easier.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are good and the teachers really care about their students...especially in the upper level classes.
Am enjoying being here There isn't much to do here, but there is so many activities and extra-curriculars for everyone. Making friends is easy. The people you see in your classes will more than likely be in another class or two with you again. Close knit community:)
Bang for the buck The textbook rental is great because you rent all your books and don't have to pay full price. Most of the books are new editions. There are 4 dining halls to choose from and the union.
Tips for prospective students The campus is beautiful and has an amazing castle. Who else can say they go to classes in a castle?!:)
Great for these types of students Great for all types of students:)

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I believe that EIU strives to provide a great education for the students. In my classes if i find that the teachers want the students to think outside the box and have that interest to learn new things. i find my classes to be very informative. When i leave my classes there are a lot of other opportunity's for me as a student to learn something. Whether its taking a visit to career services or attending a forum ran by student government i am always getting new information.
Am enjoying being here Most people want to attend a huge big ten school, but EIU to me is a great campus and has a great environment. The campus is small but big enough so that you will receive a college experience. The people are friendly and just exert Panther pride. I would tell everyone to attend EIU. Its a nice place.
Bang for the buck Attending Eiu will definitively save you money if you cannot afford to spend your life's savings on college or even if you are not getting any support from your parents. The tuition is affordable and i believe worth it.
Tips for prospective students When you arrive at Eastern i suggest that you have a clear idea of what you may be interested in majoring in. But if you don't i suggest you visit the counselors at the student success center. Also it is really great to get involved with the many different activities on campus which will help with networking.
Great for these types of students Eastern is great for you if you are Passionate about your major and are looking forward to having a great college experience. I would tell someone to come here if they are looking forward to building relationships with their professors and classmates.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I came from a very small town, where the high school curriculum was pathetically lax, so being in college has been a wonderful way to spread my wings and expand my knowledge base. Eastern is great for that, because it has small class sizes and teachers that actually care whether or not you are learning and understanding the lecture and materials. I often sit back and say, Hey, I learned something today. And it felt really good!
Am enjoying being here I love campus life so far. The resident halls are well made for the most part, the RAs are fabulous, and the variety of RSOs available to students is astounding. I'm involved in groups for my major and minor, as well as other social interests. Charleston is rather small as far as cities go, but for a small-town girl like me, it's all I need. Anything you can't find here can be found either down the street in Mattoon or up north in Champaign.
Bang for the buck University Board always has something planned for students, including mass amounts of freebies. I have so many Eastern t-shirts, I could wear them for two weeks without a repeat. Some of the fees on our bill I feel are unwarranted, but for the amount you will learn, the fact that you don't have to buy textbooks (we rent them!), and the free stuff (t-shirts, movies, bingo nights, etc.) make it a fairly good deal. Plus, Eastern has the lowest tuition of any state school in Illinois, which is quite a perk.
Tips for prospective students *Prepare for school spirit! We have so much Panther Pride here!
*Bring an empty stomach! The food in our dining halls is actually decent!
*Go to the library; the selection of movies alone is fantastic, not to mention the amount of journals, magazines, books, musical scores, and graphic novels [my favorite] is enormous.
*Check out the Doudna! It's the weirdest, most amazing building you'll ever see.Great for these types of students Eastern is a teacher's college historically, and most of the people here are still education majors. The second most popular is psychology (I should know, since I'm a psych major), and the department is well-staffed.
Anyone from a small-town atmosphere will enjoy Eastern; those from larger cities like Chicago and St. Louis may complain that there's nothing for them to do.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Dorm Life the RA's here are really nice and help you in so many ways.
Food and Dining the food isnt horrible, but it is similar to a buffet with food that is not very fresh
What to do for fun Everything. Getting involved in sports, Greek, or other groups makes Eastern so much fun!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Eastern Illinois University is an amazing school because it is the perfect size; not too big but not too small and every building is within a 10 minute or less walking distance. EIU has over 200 registered student organizations that you can be apart of so there is a club or sport that fits everyone and if you would like to start your own RSO you have that opportunity. EIU is also a diverse college and takes pride in its diversity by hosting various school events around the campus to help spread diversity throughout the university.
Tips for prospective students One tip for a prospective student is to come to EIU with an open mind and be willing to learn from not just the teachers, but from others around you because you will learn that not everyone may be from the same location or share the same heritage or values as you. Another tip would be to have an idea of organizations you would like to join or Greek organizations so that you are well informed on when and where they will host their meetings on campus. My last tip would be to remember to have fun while you are in college and not overwhelm yourself in your academics because you will definitely want to be affiliated with some kind of organization or have friends to help take away some of the stressful times college may bring.
Academic Rigor Although college may be tough at times, the student to faculty ratio at EIU is 16:1 meaning you have plenty of one to one help from the professors. At EIU, the professors want you to excel so they provide office hours for you to attend and majority of the time you can stop by whenever you would like. College is a different environment from high school so the work will not be easy but it is not hard either; as long as you put forth the effort and study time, an A can be easily attained.
Dorm Life There are 12 residence halls you can choose to live in and each have different restrictions such as visitation hours for the opposite gender and co-ed or not. Regardless of what hall you decide to stay in at EIU, they all provide you with various events within the hall that you may participate in and they also offer various study sessions as well.
Food and Dining EIU has 4 dining centers, one in Carman, Thomas, Taylor, and Stevenson Hall. Each hall serves different foods. In Carman, they are known for their Jump Asian Cuisine, Thomas is known for its Pizza and Pasta, Taylor is known for its Chicken Crisper's, and Stevenson serves various sandwiches and also includes a Reservation Dining where you can reserve a seat with friends and are served 3 course meals which include the appetizer, the main dish, and the dessert. Each hall has a salad bar and desert bar as well. Although those halls are known for a certain specialty, the halls also serve various foods in them and you can access the menu on the school's main website. There is also a University Union that has 4 restaurants inside it if the dining centers are closed or not serving what you would like.
What to do for fun EIU is a fairly small campus, however; there is a bowling ally in the University Union and on certain days, you can bowl and get shoes for $1. There is also a recreational center where you can go and work out and rent out equipment such as table tennis and sports equipment for free! You may also utilize the pool and go for a swim.
Bang for the buck EIU offers various scholarships that you can apply for. Not only do they offer scholarships, they provide their students with many honors societies that you can join within your major or for academics. EIU also offers job employment opportunities for their students whether its working in the library, recreational center, at the front desk at a residence hall, or as a Resident Assistant, and many others!!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus An unusual location on campus in a burial site for a dog named Napoleon. Napoleon was a little dog who wandered in and out of classes at EIU and became Eastern's pet dog so when he died, he was given a tombstone right behind EIU's castle.
Great for these types of students If you are a quiet person who keeps to yourself, EIU is a great college for you because they offer quiet living style floors on the halls for peace and quiet. If you are the outgoing type, EIU offers various events throughout campus to attend which include live concerts put on by famous singers, bands, rappers...etc.
Clubs and Activities EIU offers over 200 registered student organizations (RSOs) that you can get involved in. There is at least one club or activity that fits everyone and if you don't find one for you, you can create your own RSO with at least 10 members. EIU also offers intermural (boys and girls) sports teams where you can sign up and play sports against other teams on campus. You can also create your own dream team of you would like.
Greek Life Although I am not affiliated with any Greek sorority on campus, the Greek life can be very beneficial to become apart of. EIU has its very own Greek Court where all the Greeks can choose to live and they are considered on campus. The Greeks value academics as well and take great pleasure in giving back to the community.
Campus Safety I would consider EIU to be a very safe school. There are 19 Big Blue emergency poles scattered throughout the campus and at any time that you feel uneasy you can press the emergency button and an officer will arrive within 20 seconds. There are 3 police officers that monitor the campus daily, one on foot, bike, and in a car to ensure the safety of all students.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Eastern Illinois is a great school for students that would like to meet their teachers to get extra help on assignments. It is a school that you can meet great friends that you will have for life. They also have many free, fun activities during the school year.
Tips for prospective students Be outgoing and say hello to everyone on your floor. Do all activities that the dorm and school have to offer. Start off your school year by joining a lot of clubs.
Academic Rigor The good thing abut this school is that the teachers want to see you succeed. But this school doesn't have a great variety of math teachers.
Dorm Life I love the feel of dorm life it helps you see what is going on around your hall and campus before others who live in apartments. It is also a way to meet your friends that you will have for life.
Food and Dining This school doesn't have the best food in the dining halls, but there are a lot of fast food places and restaurants to go to, and they deliver.
What to do for fun This school provides activities every weekend such as movies that aren't on DVD yet. They also plan activities a couple of times throughout the year. There also is a bowling alley and games during the weeks to see. There is a lot of things to do you just have to go out and have fun.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Perfect for a student looking for the college campus experience without getting lost in the crowd. Potential to gain social and academic growth. Faculty is helpful on an interpersonal level.
Tips for prospective students All depends on whether you decide to breeze through without being seen or be proactive and get involved. Remember no matter how much fun you're looking to have, that you are there to gain knowledge and obtain your degree. Take advantage of the resources available to you including: counseling, career services, organizations, and faculty.
Academic Rigor Though there can be gaps in communication and understanding among students and faculty, each persons experience with a course will vary. It is important to understand what the professors expectations are from day 1 and to seek extra help when needed. But most importantly, take every course seriously and commit to learning and retaining the knowledge regularly.
Dorm Life There is potential for roommate issues but this depends on the level of seriousness you take when initially going over expectations/negotiations. Bathrooms tend to fluctuate with cleanliness based on the communities respect for each other as a whole. Some rooms tend to get cold in the winter.
Food and Dining Each dining hall is known for its specialties. There isn't much variety outside of that, just a rotating schedule on when they will serve which dishes. Overall the food is good, I preferred certain halls over others.
What to do for fun Join an organization, go out on the weekends, go to social/academic events. Posters are posted around campus to let you know what to look forward to. Also, people in organizations post through social networking sites.
Bang for the buck Places throughout the community give student discounts. We receive coupon books at the beginning of the year, that are continually issued throughout the year. Local places have specials on certain days.
Clubs and Activities A wide variety to choose from whether just to try something new or for long term purposes.
Campus Safety Occasionally there will be an alert about some activity or another but overall most students aren't worried about their safety. Students can be found walking around at all hours of the day and night by themselves, unconcerned with fear of being hurt.

Tips for prospective students Tips I would give prospective students, is to take advantage of all the registered student organizations that are available, and all campus events. Its a great way to meet new people, and interact with your colleagues outside the classroom.
Academic Rigor From my experience at EIU, I found that all the teachers, are more than about the grade. They want you to learn and succeed. Even though the classes may be rigorous an individual will leave EIU with having a quality learning experience.
Dorm Life The dorms are average, there a great way to meet new people. But the as far as studying environment goes, it does not harbor one.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I love EIU, plain and simple. The campus is small, and I love that aspect. Everyone knows everyone and that's amazing.
Tips for prospective students For incoming Freshman, I wouldn't live in Carmen Hall. I feel as if its kinda far. Do not take 8Am's if you don't have to! Don't EVER eat chubby's pizza.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Eastern Illinois University may be one of the smallest public universities in Illinois, but it is filled with so many opportunities. The campus is small and friendly; which makes getting to class a lot easier. The school is very organized, and helps you adjust to the college atmosphere very quickly. This is definitely a university that I recommend that you inquire more about.
Tips for prospective students The best way to become a successful student is to construct good time-management skills. This will help you balance your studies, extracurricular activities, and social life, with less stress. This skill can also lead to better responsibility, and character building.
Academic Rigor It is important to see your professors out of the classroom, and discuss what you, as an individual, need to do to become successful at Eastern Illinois University. If the professor sees that you have concern, then they will show concern.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms is a great experience for freshmen/newly transferred students. It teaches you how to live on your own, take on responsibilities, and it also puts you in a more comfortable environment. You are around students that are in the same situation as you, and you can make friends with your peers.
Food and Dining The dining halls vary in relation to the quality of the food. However, there are many options for just about anyone: including vegans and vegetarians. There is a Late Night dining service every weeknight from 8:00PM to 1:00AM in case you get hungry at night, or in my case, have a late night study session at the library.
What to do for fun Eastern Illinois University always has recreational activities to enjoy around campus. They have volunteer services, clubs to join, intramural sports to join in, and lots of other events that help students get to know each other.
Bang for the buck This school is a great price for its experience and education.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The most popular monument of this university is the Castle; which is located in the front of the school.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who want to get the college experience in a small town. The campus is small; which is great for transportation purposes, and getting to know your community.
Clubs and Activities A lot of people join different clubs and activities. There are so many intramural sports teams you can join, and there are also so many different clubs that can fit anyone's interests.
Greek Life Greek Life is very popular at Eastern Illinois University. It is a great way to participate in various recreational activities, and meet new people.
Campus Safety This is a very safe campus. There are many emergency towers located throughout campus that will assist you at any time of day or night. There are rarely any incidents in which there are serious emergencies. The town of Charleston, in general, is a safe place to live.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The community is close-knit, even for a campus with so many people. Professors, academic advice, benefits, and anything else you can imagine is very accessible to students. There is a wide variety of classes to be taken.
Tips for prospective students Take a day to come to Charleston and tour the campus. Reading about it on websites and in brochures doesn't give the personal feel that you find in person. Walk through the different buildings and talk to faculty in your intended major. Knowing a little more about what you want to do can be a huge help.
Academic Rigor The rigor depends on the class. Honors classes are available but quality teaching does not limit itself to the Honors College.
Dorm Life Dorm living isn't anything like living at home. Make sure you connect with your roommate ahead of time. Plan what each of you is bringing and try to get along. You can always change roommates if you need to. Sometimes it gets a little loud and crazy. Just imagine being in a hotel with smaller rooms and a whole lot of college kids.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences A warm, friendly campus community--Eastern is truly awesome. For a small, Midwestern university, it can't be beat. I love it here!
Tips for prospective students If affordability is a consideration for you--Eastern offers a quality education at a very affordable price. And, keep in mind--you are not required to purchase textbooks for you classes here at Eastern. It's one of the few schools in the country that still has a textbook rental service.
Academic Rigor Honestly, Eastern is best for good students. But, no...it's not the Ivy League.
Dorm Life Dorms are safe, secure, and clean. Pemberton Hall is the oldest dorm in the state of Illinois...and, according to legend--is haunted!
Food and Dining There is a wide variety of food and dining options available on campus. And, the food is fresh and healthy!
What to do for fun Eastern is in Charleston, Illinois. It's a small, college town. But, the residents here love us. You're in college, right? Get creative--you'll find plenty to do.
Bang for the buck I can't stress enough how much money students save by being able to rent their textbooks here instead of having to pay for them.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Pemberton Hall is haunted!
Great for these types of students Low-key students would love it here. It's very friendly and laid-back. But, students do work hard here.
Clubs and Activities Many academic and social clubs here on campus. A particular favorite of mine is the Equestrian Team.
Greek Life Greeks have a large presence on campus...but, they do not overwhelm it.
Campus Safety The campus police makes its presence known, but not in an intimidating way. The officers look out for us!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers I have had have all been great. I learn a lot from each and every one of them. I would say that the professors of my intended major are the best. They really know what they are talking about and seem to greatly enjoy what they do.
Am enjoying being here I love Eastern. It is my favorite place to be. The campus is amazing, especially our art center, Dounda. I even love the town of Charleston itself. The residence halls are great! There are a lot of off campus housing to look at. It is overall a great place!
Bang for the buck The only problem I have is the student service and finacial aid buildings. They arent that great at helping. You pretty much have to know what questions to ask and everything about money is up to you! I wish they were more helpful. Everything else is great though. I learn alot. I can go to the rec center to work out. There is a health services building and other fun things like bowling!
Tips for prospective students Have fun but not too much fun. I wont lie and say that I don't hear about weekend parties all the time. Stay focused and you will be okay. Be used to being in a decently small area.
Great for these types of students If you come from a big city you will think charleston is small and there is nothing to do. The campus is a decent size, not to big and not to small. So if you don't want to be in a very large campus then this is the place for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Coming from a high school where teachers are always pushing you to excel really helped me through my gen eds in college because most of the teachers don't really care if you do your homework or come to class. However, coming from my high school I knew I had to put effort into my classes if I wanted to learn and to my surprise I learned many interesting things that I would have never learned on my own just reading from the text books.
Am enjoying being here I love the people that I have meet through my classes and other school activities. There is a group for everyone and everyone is very friendly to one another. People say hey to each other even if you don't know them at all. It is a very friendly campus and that is one thing that makes me love Eastern.
Bang for the buck Eastern Illinois is one of the cheapest public schools in the state of Illinois and you would not think that through the campus or the faculty. The faculty surprise you with what they know and don't take their paychecks into consideration when helping students. You also rent your textbooks, which means you just have to pay a set fee in your tuition and you get all your textbooks. I save so much money because I don't have to buy my textbooks like other colleges do.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! There are so many activities that you can get involved in and meet new people through.
Don't worry about what people think about you. You are in college now so you should live the life you want to live because these should be the best four years of your life. So live them how you want to live them!Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am a transfer student coming from a community college and I am still learning a lot. The major specific classes here are designed to push students and teach them everything they may need to know in their fields. The teachers push their students to learn and really want them to learn and care about their own education.
Am enjoying being here I love the size of the campus and how friendly all the staff and faculty is but the town itself is very small for a college town. You need to get involved with things on campus in order to truly get the college experience here and that makes it hard for anyone with a job.
Bang for the buck This school is one of the best around for a 4 year university price wise. You will get back whatever you put into this school and that is a very good thing for what you are paying.
Tips for prospective students Get involved in clubs early. If you are a transfer student look for clubs and groups that are in your specific major. Also, DO NOT blow off your classes, this is not high school. The teachers do care, but they will not hold your hand.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors here are all very knowledgeable about their subject matter. If you are eligible for the honors college I would highly recommend it. Honors classes are a lot smaller and are taught by an expert in that field.
Am enjoying being here There are so many different ways to get involved on campus and unlimited opportunities right at your finger tips. You will find that your time here will be most enjoyable if you take advantage of everything that the campus has to offer.
Bang for the buck Eastern was the most affordable school I applied to and I feel they offer me all that I was hoping for and more.
Tips for prospective students *GET INVOLVED! there are so many different things to do on campus, there is something for everyone.
*Live in the dorms: at least for your first year or two. Living in the resident halls are the best way to make friends. My closest friends are all ones that live in my building.
* My recommendations for resident halls
-I live in Lawson and really like it here.
- Avoid Carmen if possible, its really far walk in the winter
- If you want to be in the center of campus (and near the library) consider Weller, Ford or Mckinney
*Take advantage of the REC center and the workout classes they offer.
*Create an open line of communication with your academic advisor from the get go. They are here to help you succeed and find the right classes for you and your major
*VISIT! schedule a college visit. or better yet, attend an OPEN HOUSE. There are 4-5 open houses a year and its a great way to get all your questions answered about the campus. Gives you an opportunity to get a feel for the campus and the town.Great for these types of students *Education Majors: great education

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot A lot of the general education classes are reviews from high school but go more in depth. Classes towards your major are great. 95% of the teachers I have had so far have been great. Mostly smaller classes of 20-some people make it easy to get to know people and get to know the teachers. Teachers are understanding and always have time to help outside of class.
Am enjoying being here I love the size of the campus. Walking to classes doesn't take long at all. There are a lot of clubs so whatever you're into there will probably be a club that fits you. If there isn't a club, then it is really easy to start one. Big enough that you don't know every person on campus but small enough that you aren't overwhelmed.
Bang for the buck For in-state tuition, the bang for the buck is amazing. We rent books instead of buying them. You get a really good education for a fairly low public institution price.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus; when I visited in high school, I just felt at home. Shadow day program is a really good idea if you know what major you are thinking of going into. You come to Eastern and meet up with someone in your major and go to their classes. It gives you a good feel of what the classes will be like.
Great for these types of students Great for students that don't have a lot of money and students that want to stay in the state. Medium-size school.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot All the teacher are really great here! The class size is pretty small in general so each student gets a lot of individual attention. Also the teachers make themselves very available for help, or just to talk to! All the teachers are great and very knowledgeable about what they are teaching. I am definitely learning a lot!
Am enjoying being here Being at Eastern is amazing! I am on the cross country team and i love all my team mates. They are all good students so we just hang out together, or sometimes we study. Every one is so nice here that it is super easy to make new friends! The university offers many different types of activities there is always something fun to do!
Bang for the buck Eastern is a big school with a small school feel. There are many different people to meet but the campus is relatively small and the classes are also smaller. You can make Eastern as big or as small of a school as you want to. Whichever way you want it, it's definitely a good price!
Tips for prospective students Make use of all that the University has to offer. All the different departments offer some kind of tutoring. Also Eastern is a beautiful campus so make sure you drink in its beauty!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I come from a small high school, my class was about 85 people so my high schoo classes were small. I did not want something overwhelming in college where I felt i wouldn't learn from a big classroom. Here at Eastern the classes are small. You have an opportunity to have one on one time with your teacher. Learning in this type of setting helps me because I am able to get on a personal level with my teacher and feel comfortable asking any questions.
Am enjoying being here Eastern's campus is small, but not the size of a penny. It takes me about 7 min at most to get to my farthest class. I love this because one I don't have to walk far, and two because it is easy to navigate. All halls besides Carmen are on the same block. And the rec center is just across one of the streets around campus. On my first visit here I was welcomed with open arms and everyone was super nice.
Bang for the buck As a high school senior coming from a not so rich family I was worried about paying for college. Looking at prices was a big deal for me. Eastern's price is not unreasonable. In fact, I found it very reasonable and I feel I am getting my money's worth.
Tips for prospective students If you are at all interested in Eastern apply. The application is very easy. Then please come visit our campus. Once you set foot on campus you will feel at home. And even if you don't you will still enjoy the experience you had during your visit.
Great for these types of students I feel that students that are looking for a low key, small college, and the not overwhelming feeling should definitely look into Eastern.
